Plus jeune, vers mes dix ans, ma mère m’apprit à déchiffrer la signalétique du métro parisien pour que, plus âgé, je puisse m’y guider seul. J’ai embrassé une fille sur un quai aux abords de Notre-Dame, puis une autre sur le quai d’en face, bien des années plus tard ; des deux se dégageait la même odeur corporelle légèrement âcre et traînante que je gardai ensuite dans le nez plusieurs heures. Paris ne me manque pas lorsque j’en suis loin, mais je n’ai jamais envie d’en partir. Le matin, dans la ligne 2 en direction de Porte-Dauphine, s’il y a de la place, on peut s’asseoir dans le sens de la marche pour ne pas se sentir nauséeux, ou dans le sens inverse pour admirer le soleil se lever entre Jaurès et Barbès-Rochechouart. Favorite deck brand: Either Krooked or BBS Alien Workshop. Actually any deck brand made by BBS. If we're going with strictly aesthetics and graphics, then Magenta.

Least Favorite: Any brand made with Clutch wood. Those nose and tails are way to steep

Best trick: Frontside flip or frontside 360

Trick I want to learn: Overcoming my psychological barrier of switch ollieing up curbs. Other than that I would like to learn smith grinds

Advice on tricks: For frontside 360s, the key is to use the upper part of your body to complete the first 180, and then use your legs and bottom half to force the last 180. Learning how to do late 180s are extremely helpful.

Favorite skate video: 3 way tie between Tilt Mode Army "Man Down", PJ Ladd's Wonderful Horrible Life and Girl/Chocolate "Yeah Right"

Finch's MSB rambles, part ???

Against my better judgement, I've been thinking about the MSB reboot and its failings (namely, getting rid of Phoebe and botching everyone else's character). However, I do have some thoughts and headcanons on Jyoti, the new student introduced in the reboot. She's a really cool character and I don't think the reboot deserves her.

Instead of replacing Phoebe, she joins the gang some time after Phoebe transfers from her old school. And I like to think Phoebe (knowing what it's like to be the new kid) would be happy to show her around.

Has two cats named Ada and Lacey, after computer scientist Ada Lovelace.

In the same computer coding club that Mikey (Carlos's brother) is part of.

Not as familiar with Carlos's history of "brilliant ideas" gone wrong, so she's more likely to encourage him. It's even worse if Mikey is also involved.

Likes skateboarding and rollerskating.

About: The first half of his life had been rough, but as he's come to settle into adulthood he's started to find his place in the world. Growing up gay and free-spirited with unaccepting and controlling parents left him feeling unwanted, an outcast even at home. He found his belonging in a local skate park, a board under his feet his first real taste of freedom. Starting around age twelve he practically lived on a skateboard. When he wasn't skating, he was thinking about skating, tinkering with skateboards, or simply sleeping. It was everything to him.

He got a job as soon as he could. His school performance had already long since fallen to the wayside, if he was ever going to get out of this town, get away from his folks, and live a life that actually felt like it was his, he was going to have to start saving. By his eighteenth birthday, he'd barely scraped enough together for a cross-country bus ticket. One way. He didn't even bother saying goodbye.

After the first few years of scraping by on his fast food paycheck with his barely-home roommate, he met a local artist and things just… clicked. What started as a fling turned into more of a catapult, and they were married within a year.

With more money and time on his hands, he was able to finally focus on his hobbies again. He'd always dabbled in sewing, it was practically the only way to have cool clothes growing up, it's not like his parents were buying him anything he could bear to be seen wearing in public.

Fun Facts:

Though it's usually hidden under his shirt, he's almost always wearing a heart shaped locket

Loves Shakespeare! Wears reading glasses, but doesn’t really have a need to (he just likes them!)

He almost dropped AND flunked out of high school (he just barely skated by)

Has trouble learning new things, even when it comes to skateboarding. He usually stagnates for a while before having an epiphinal moment and figuring it out on his own.

Because of this difficulty learning things, he really really struggles with instruction manuals, he just doesn’t understand them. And maps. And spoken instructions. He really has to be hands-on most of the time.

Either can’t keep a secret more than 5 seconds or takes it to his grave. There is no in between, and even he doesn't know which it's gonna be.

He often gets too attached to his skateboards to sell them. He had to rent a studio just to get them all out of the house so his poor husband stopped tripping on them.

Katie's Kloset arrives!

Suddenly, my order of vintage Katie clothes and shoes jumped from its orbit of Sacramento to the actual post office for my zip code, got sent out for delivery, and arrived!

Alas, she's not as Black as she looked in the listings: while her hair is wild and frayed, it was originally braided, so she's another Dancing Brook. I may keep her anyway. While I'm ordinarily not ready to own duplicates, Katies are so damn cute!

The point of the order was to get shoes, and shoes I got! I now have several pairs of pumps in different colors, pink sneakers, and (the real prize) white sneakers for Ben!

Everyone got dressed, though New Girl will soon have to be undressed to get her hair done. (I'm going to skip alt text and tell you below the pic what's in it.)

Starting from top left, Rosa Lee got a space-alien-themed pinafore dress in vibrant neon colors. Her shoes aren't visible, but they're purple. Isabelle, with her blonde curls, is modeling the Heartland Western cowgirl outfit in teal check with gold fringe. Brooke, my original Dancing Brook, found herself black checkered shorts and an aqua-and-magenta T-shirt with a skateboarder pattern. Her shoes are matching hot pink. I swear, I had so many summer clothes in the color scheme of her shirt, back in 1988. Ocean Pacific went to town for aqua and pink.

In the front row, my new Dancing Brook changed into a pink long-sleeved top with a white cat on it (which may be Piper's, judging by the fit) and a ruffled blue-and-white print skirt with hot pink trim. She is wearing hot pink ballet flats. Ben, my trans!Katie ("Katie" is not his deadname but his species) scored white tennis shoes and a long-sleeved sweater in red with aqua and yellow trim. It clashes with his hair, but it's the first garment he's had that was 100% his, not a compromise or leftover. So he's thrilled.

I need to do a full sort, as some of the pants are a little small and might do better for Creata Hillary or for Arvin Lebec, and a few items are too large and might do better for Totsy Teen Fun Lacey.

SHOES!!! Also, clothes to use as a pattern so I'm not guessing at every little thing!

main OC he is currently 13 and about to go through a LOT. Half angel half demon also emo his father is a demon but doesn’t talk much about his mother and when asked dodges the question not because she’s dead or anything but she was part of his worst memories. All Elijah knows about her is that she was an angel, he also has a best friend who he’s known since the age of 4 named Xane (we’ll come onto him) in a foul attempt to learn more about his parents ,as his father is very secretive, he ends up roping his friends into the worst mess imaginable; they get into the middle of a war between two mafias as a third party that threatens to reveal all their secrets and one of his friends is directly involved with one side and his father the other. He also meets his grim reaper who in an act of mercy gave him three lives because he didn’t want to take someone so young. Elijah has an idol, a famous detective with no name, he aspires to be just like her no

Xane

Just a lil’ ghost boy but not really, he wears a sheet over himself to look more like a ghost despite not being dead(the face on the sheet was drawn on by Elijah), although he does wish he was but not in a suicidal way. He is an orphan he was left on the doorstep of an old abandoned mansion and a married couple of ghosts took him in, the other ghosts weren’t pleased at first but soon grew attached to him. He’s very shy and doesn’t talk and he’s pretty much a wallflower. He does get bullied sometimes. No one has actually ever seen his face apart from the ghosts of course but no one else not even Elijah (he did get a glimpse but was knocked out immediately and forgot what happened). He also has a killer death metal voice. No one knows how he obtained that skill but you can always hear him at band practice.

Anaiah

She is a dog girl she wasn’t originally thought so technically human. She has two older brothers Louis and Vencel and Louis is a bit of a mad scientist and he was testing to see if his dog girl serum was working which it did but he also made it to be permanent. He was making this serum because dog girls are fictional and he’s lost taste for prosthetic tails and ears. One method of obtaining his dream would be crossbreeding werewolves until he got results but that would be very illegal and expensive. She is quite the violent girl and is currently dealing with anger issues she may also be crushing on her friend. She plays the bass guitar and was taught be Vencel, Louis also taught her how to DJ and mix her own songs. She is very punk btw.

She and her family are vampires and are very rich, her older brother is a famous pop idol and so to follow in his footsteps she became a popular influencer. He didn’t seem to pleased about it though. Most people recognise her from her brother which annoys her. When her brother got scouted and found out that dying his hair was in his contract she also dyed her hair the same shade of bright magenta. Her parent apply a lot of pressure on her to be perfect and get good grades but she likes hanging out with Anaiah because than she doesn’t have to be perfect she can do or be whatever she wants and she likes that same as when she’s making a video or on stream. It’s her dream to make as many people snails as her big brother does but she’ll soon learn why her brother doesn’t want her to take this path (he commits suicide). She is the groups lead female singer and she also plays the keyboard

Please note he is not a kitsune, I repeat NOT a kitsune!! He is a Korean yeoul they are completely different (probably make a post about it later this is already too long) he’s more average than the others also can’t do half the stuff they can because he’s Catholic. People often confuse him for Rin a kitsune exorcist who is an entirely different shade of orange btw. He does have an anthro form so the day I commit the grave sin of learning to draw furries you’ll start seeing more art of him. Doesn’t have much lore cause he’s a normal child apart from the fact his girlfriend is a slave to the mafia well one of them. He does help her cope and with his friends he’s trying to get her out of that hellhole. Also random fact he’s lactose intolerant and has a peanut allergy. He’s the guitarist and sometimes back up vocals. He is self taught and can often be caught playing the season 1 blue exorcist theme song to warm up

she is the poor victim of a human trafficking incident everything you can imagine she’s probably been forced to do it or had it done to her. I don’t know why I gave her so much trauma. She is a werewolf and her master is a high ranking executive of the mafia and is able to cover up his horrible acts, he is also a sex offender. Lilly is quite young but the miserable life she was forced to lead caused her to mature much faster than the others. I think I may stop here because I gave her way too much trauma so let’s look on the brighter side of things. She is unable to speak and so uses ASL(American sign language) or BSL (British sign language) (the day I learn to draw hands) she quickly bonded with Xane over that fact she also has many dog or wolf like tendencies for example tail wagging. Her tail conveys a lot of emotions even though her face might not. She does make sounds such as whining, barking or howling. In her anthro or wolf form she’s more comfortable and Is more likely to bark. She is also a Siberian wolf and if you can tell from the name she is indeed related to the Siberian husky so she is quite loud also the drama queen. To show affection she’ll lean on you and she licks YET TO BE NAMED!!!! instead of kisses, she does it around his neck and ears the first time she did it he misinterpreted it as a sexual gesture.

Rin

Now this, this is a kitsune. You can tell from the number or tails he has he’s been around for more that 200 years. He’s also a major dick for no reason. He is worshipped and has a small shrine dedicated to him although it seems it’s most likely gone to his head. He’s an exorcist and keeps trying to exorcise the ghosts in Xane’s mansion Its the reason no one likes him. One day he was saved by this little girl who took him in and took care of him he did refuse he bit and scratched her but she seemed determined to show the fox affection even after he ran away she still loved him so he had no Choice but to settle down and be her new pet. The little girl is now an old lady and unknown to her a kitsune calls her ‘mama’ when no one’s around. Notes:

Headcanon that D.A. used to cut holes in all her hats when she was younger. During the first few field trips, she would always cut the holes herself, but it wasn't long before Ms. Frizzle realized D.A. had a particular fashion sense and set the outfit-maker on the bus to "always put two pigtail holes in D.A.'s hats."

At least 12 of D.A.'s outfits accomodate for her hairstyle.
