German Christmas Magdeburg attack death toll rises to six
The death toll in a car collision with visitors to a Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg has risen to six after a 52-year-old woman died in hospital from her injuries, prosecutors said on Monday.
Prosecutors in Naumburg said the 52-year-old woman died in hospital, German news agency dpa reported. Authorities said the dead included four women aged 45, 52, 67 and 75, as well as a 9-year-old boy.
On December 20, an attacker deliberately steered his car into a crowd at a Christmas fair in Magdeburg. More than 200 people were injured as a result. The victims of the attack were five people – a child and four women. The authorities called what happened a terrorist attack.
The driver of the car was 50-year-old native of Saudi Arabia Taleb al-Abdulmohsen. The man moved to Germany in 2006 and was granted political refugee status in 2016. According to Der Spiegel, in his home country he was accused of slave trade. Al-Abdulmohsen worked as a psychiatrist and was active on social media, where he often criticised Islam.
The attack on the Christmas market provoked mass protests in Germany demanding the deportation of illegal migrants. Demonstrators blamed the authorities, especially Olaf Scholz, for the incident. The chancellor was even booed during his appearance at a mourning event at the end of December.

So a man in Magdeburg used a car to attack a Christmas market. Several people are injured, 2 people are dead. The man who did it was arrested.
That is what we know has happened.
The info that was released about this man is:
He is a doctor
He is 50 years old
He is from Saudi Arabia
And apparently those three bullet points were all a certain techie billionaire needed to call the German Chancellor an incompetent fool and that only the AFD (you know the party that about half the German population calls the "Nazi" party) could save Germany.
But there were a few more bullet points about that man:
He is known to be very islam-critic
He is known to be immigration-critic
He is known to have sympathies for the AFD
It is further known that Riad has warned Germany about him. (By now it is not public when they warned Germany, which would be a point of interest)
He was retweeting several right wing accounts on X, including Alice Weidel (head of the AFD), Naomi Seibt (right wing influencer) and yes, even a certain right leaning techie billionaire from the USA.
His tweets became more and more angry and anti-islam this autumn.
So what does that mean?
Well it means that you should wait until you have all the information before trying to add something to the situation.
It means that Elon Musk told the German Chancellor that the AFD could save Germany from attacks of AFD-leaning people (I don't know if the attacker was a party-member or just a sympathiser), just because that person was from Saudi Arabia and thus has to be an Islamist.
For fuck sake.

Today, the country is still in shock because of the horrible terrorist attack on Magdeburg's Christmas market yesterday evening.
I'd advise everyone to steer clear of sites like Twitter, TikTok or Instagram as it's the worst cesspit of angry rants, misinformation and actual disturbing videos of the attack.
By now, 5 people have died, and over 200 have been injured, some very seriously, though it's been stated that at least 11 of them could be stabilised enough to be out of immediate risk of death.
More and more information is coming through on the attacker, a 50 year old doctor for psychatry from Saudi-Arabia, who moved to Germany in 2006 and was granted permanent residency.
The first reactions of people (among them fucking Elon Musk) saying this must be an Islamist terorrist attack and therefore we all must vote for the right-wing Nazi party AFD seem to be, uhhh, incorrect.
Because the attacker was very vocal on Twitter, extremely Islam-critical, an activist who tried helping Muslim women to leave Saudi-Arabia ... who also seemed to drift off into ever more radical right-wing thoughts and ideas over the last few years.
He made claims that are typical for weird conspiracy theorists (like Germany wanting to spread Islam throughout the whole world), he liked/reblogged posts by AFD politicians, Elon Musk and right-wing influencers, and it seems obvious that he got very much radicalised into extrem right-wing ideas in the last years.
(this is quite embarrassing for the AFD who had already started to use last night's attack for their propaganda...)
It will be interesting to see what information will come out in the next few days - were there warnings about him that got ignored? Especially considering his very outspoken Twitter account. Was there perhaps a psychological problem that exacerbated the situation and led him to act this way?
With the information we currently have, it doesn't seem like an Islamistic terror attack - but instead a right-wing extremist one.

These are hard times, but you have to keep your eyes on the goal Germany!
I know everyone is hurting, but just because of this newest attack, one should never lose sight of where you are heading!
Just a few million more immigrants and everything will be fine!
And remember!
Pattern recognition is a sin!

German security chiefs face questions over Christmas market attack
Germany’s security and intelligence chiefs are due in court on Monday over the explosives attack that killed five people and injured more than 200 at a Christmas market 10 days ago.
They will be questioned about possible missed evidence and security lapses before the December 20 attack in the eastern city of Magdeburg, where police arrested 50-year-old psychiatrist Taleb al-Abdulmohsen at the scene.
Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, officials from the state of Saxony-Anhalt and the heads of Germany’s domestic and foreign intelligence services are expected to hold a closed-door committee meeting in parliament from 12:00 GMT.
Abdulmohsen is the only suspect in the attack, in which a rented BMW sports car ploughed at high speed through a crowd of walkers, leaving a bloody trail behind it. Investigators have yet to announce a motive for the attack.
Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the scene of a car attack on a crowded Christmas market that killed five people and injured more than 200. He called for unity, condemning the “terrible catastrophe.”
He promised Germany would respond to the attack “to the full extent of the law” but also called for unity as Germany faces a heated debate over immigration and security and moves towards elections in February.
The centre-left chancellor said it was important “that we stick together, that we stick to our guns, that it is not hatred that defines our coexistence, but that we are a community that strives for a common future.”
He said he was grateful for the expressions of “solidarity … from many, many countries around the world,” and added that “it is good to hear that we Germans are not alone in the face of this terrible catastrophe.”

What we know so far, Addendum:
So a man in Magdeburg used a car to attack a Christmas market. 200 people are injured, 5 people are dead, one of them a 9 year old boy. The man who did it was arrested. There is video of his arrest. So far I have only seen one. Maybe they will release more later, but right now, there is only one.
The man has been in trouble with the law before, but only for lesser things like disturbing the peace, pulling fire alarms without an emergency and slander.
The man worked as a doctor in a Jail (which means they should have put his CV under the proverbial microscope).
He has given an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung in 2019 in which he said there is no good Islam and he had renounced the religion.
He was not a member of the AFD, but he sympathised and reblogged their posts.
There is circulating a picture of an e-mail online that seems to be a warning about said man.... unfortunately, the addressee of said e-mail is the police of Berlin, New Jersey, not the police of Berlin, Germany.
The police has searched his home, but have, so far not said if they have found something.
They did a drug test and it was positive, but as a doctor, he would know which dose and drug to use.
They found that he used the emergency entrance to the Christmas market to do his deed, which means there was planning involved. This was not a "simple" Amok run, this was premeditated.
He has been posting on X a lot. He sounded like a conspiracy nut and that is not a criminal offence. His post are very Islam-phobic and he was not happy about the immigration of Islam people.
The police is asking for any videos that people might have made.
It is still way to early for all the info to form a cohesive image, we only have pieces of the whole and already people try to twist it, so it fits their preferred outcome. The right wing say there were 34 deaths and five attackers with bombs in their cars and the attacker were Syrian. Another say there were 11 deaths and it was an Islamic attack. They are already planning marches for Monday.
Even here, on this site, someone reblogged my earlier post commenting that the man was shouting "Allah Akbar" when he was arrested. Unless he has access to another video of the man's arrest than me, that is false. The video I have seen is 50 seconds long, the man is lying on the floor with the hands on his back and is not saying anything. A police man is shouting "geh nich zu nah ran, nich zu nah ran" which can be translated "Don't go too close, not too close."
Should another video exist I will try and find it. But so far those are all the infos we have.
This is all we know so far.
Oh PS: A day before the attack, the German Chancellor lost (predictably) a "Misstrauensvotum" (Vote of no confidence) which means that there will be an Election early next Year for a new German Federal Parliament and with that, a new Chancellor. So Elon Musk's demand for the Chancellor to step down was completely superfluous. Which he would have known if he had a done a simple Google search before tweeting.

Magdeburg Christmas market attack
Authorities investigated a Saudi doctor with a history of anti-Islam rhetoric as the suspected driver in a car-ramming attack on a Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg that killed five people and injured scores. The Friday evening attack on crowds gathered to celebrate the Christmas season could sharpen a fierce debate in Germany over security and immigration ahead of a national…

The Poison Is Spreading ... Another Tragedy 😢
There is a poison here in the U.S., a toxicity of the minds of millions of people that has spread rampantly over the past decade or so. It has many names, “far right”, “maga”, and more, but the bottom line is it is fascist and racist, it favours authoritarianism, exclusion of any who are not white, straight, Christian, and male. It has many faces, but the most notable ones are those of a felon…

Steinmeier calls for unity in Christmas address after market attack
Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Tuesday the deadly car bomb attack on a Christmas market had cast a “dark shadow” over this year’s celebrations, but urged the nation not to be influenced by extremists.
In his traditional Christmas address, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier sought to give a message of healing four days after a brutal attack in the eastern city of Magdeburg killed five people and injured more than 200.
Against the backdrop of numerous crises and problems, the president urged the people of Germany to reflect on the strengths that have made it possible to cope with challenges in the past. In this context, he mentioned the conflict in Ukraine, the Middle East and many other parts of the world.
In Germany, Steinmeier said, there is a great deal of discontent with politics, the economy, bureaucracy and injustice. The German head of state acknowledged:
“The tone in our country has become tougher in everyday life, sometimes even irreconcilable. We must speak openly about what is going wrong, what is not working in our country as it could and should. And above all: what needs to be done urgently.”
The attack on a Christmas market in Germany’s Magdeburg provoked mass protests in Germany demanding the deportation of illegal migrants. Demonstrators blamed the authorities, especially Olaf Scholz, for the incident. The chancellor was even booed during his appearance at the mourning event.
The issue of migration is once again coming to the fore in Germany, aggravating the political situation ahead of the Bundestag elections. Germans chanting “everyone who doesn’t like Germany, get out” is already a consequence of the terrorist attack in Magdeburg. People are not interested in the fact that the Saudi who crushed women and children at the Christmas market is not a classic Islamic terrorist, rather, on the contrary, he was anti-Islamic. But the degree of hatred is still off the charts.
Scholz, who had travelled to Magdeburg to offer condolences, was booed, and one woman urged him to act: “Do something. Must something worse happen?”
On the evening of December 20, a car crashed into a crowd of people at a market in Magdeburg. The representative of the German government in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, Matthias Schuppe, called the incident a terrorist attack.
