What's one way your OC has changed since you first came up with them?

There are so many little ways that I talk about from time to time (originally being asexual instead of pansexual and in his 40s bc i didn't care about The Lore yet), but I think the biggest change has been ... his whole personality, honestly. Originally, Daren was a lot more grim (this tied in with my plan for being older and jaded) and actually kind of a depressed stick-in-the-mud. I'm glad I had that first version because he, Sten, and Oghren really got on ... because they were all warriors of about the same age. But the longer I had him, the more i thought about what his personality was like under all that Duty and Trauma. And it turned out he was witty and extroverted and caring and judgemental and charming and shortsighted and inquisitive and protective and cheesy and more than anything... repressing all of it as hard as he could. Making Daren actually helped me reconnect with my emotional state and unpack my own trauma that I was so used to carrying I didn't even notice any more. It's why he'll always be my favorite.

If I'm allowed to cheat (bc I could talk about him forever) and say there was one single thing that really catalyzed that change ... it was giving him a younger sister. De-aging him helped, but the second I made him a middle son instead of a youngest child everything snapped into focus. It made his goals and personality so grounded all of a sudden and gave me a point of reference for what he was like before the Attack and what his recovery would look like during the Blight and beyond

the thing is i’m always constantly torn between the fact that from maeve’s perspective zevran is who she would go for out of all of the options available in origins (she has a brief sexuality crisis over morrigan but refuses to acknowledge it), and the fact that cousland/zev is objectively the worst option for zev. whom i love. i think ultimately they end up having a weird and slightly unhealthy thing going by the end of the game and into awakening in which they’re definitely sleeping with each other and 100% are a bit in love but neither would admit it (maeve bc she won’t admit it to herself. zev bc he thinks maeve doesn’t want to hear it. and she doesn’t) and they flirt by trying to assassinate each other. it just sort of continues like this i don’t think there’s any resolution and on maeve’s part i think this is probably the only kind of love she’s willing to let herself have for a long period of time. we’ll see what veilguard brings maybe by then she’ll be over herself but i sort of hope zevran’s moved on by then. anyway really the answer to this is that i just need to have someone else romance zevran in a way that makes me happy for him

I'm so excited, y'all. @galfrey and I finally settled on all the canon OCs for our 'verse. Kallian Tabris got yeeted and my girl Solona got a promotion! So the way it breaks down is:

All of them are technically Warden OCs and have their own playthrough/worldstate, but usually whatever OCs aren't recruited simply die during their origin. Daren and Maeve are quantum locked, so only one can survive the siege: if neither survive, Maeve tried and failed to raise the alarm and Daren died defending the door, praying someone would come to save their parents.

The exceptions are the last section: for example, most of the time Sid joins the Legion of the Dead and pops up during the Dead Trenches to briefly team up with the "real" Warden, Garadin dies saving Shianni (which prompts the alienage riots), and Solona is one of Uldred's people who dies during Broken Circle.

21) What tarot would your PC be?

MAEVE — the empress. upright — sensuality, femininity, creativity, fertility, etc; create beauty and connect with senses to experience pleasure/fulfillment; abundance of life's pleasures and luxuries; encouraged to embrace nature and its beauty; in one's nature to care for and support others from a place of love and compassion, seeing it as an honor to tend to them; can suggest pregnancy or birth (birth can also mean 'birth' of a new idea/project). reversed — encourages self-love and self-care to become a priority; sign to stop people pleasing so much; creative block and worry that work is a failure; learn to love one's body; shift from being codependent or clingy.

MEREDITH — the emperor. upright — adopting the fatherly role through providing, protecting, and defending loved ones; powerful leader who demands authority and respect; status, power, and recognition are essential; comfortable in the leader role, rules with a fair hand; listens to others advice/opinions but ultimately makes own decision; systematic and strategic. reversed — nudge to assess relationship with control, discipline and power; rigid in thought; reminder to stick to goals and solidify plans for completing them.

38) How did you choose your PC’s name?

MAEVE — it's been such a long time but i think i was just scrolling through various “cute girl names” lists until i saw Maeve, loved how it sounded and then locked it in upon reading its meaning. “she who intoxicates” is too good for a bard to pass up. 

MEREDITH — purely because i loved the name Meredith ever since reading it in the vampire diaries books when i was a tween. i wasn't one to care about meanings behind names back when i made her, but i was over the moon to discover her name fit when i later discovered the meaning to be "great ruler".

41) Does your PC have a favorite spell, and if so, which?

MAEVE — she doesn’t have magic in witcherverse but she does have an inventory of magic items that grows through the years, so i’ll pick from those. i believe at one point (probably years ago by now) it was discussed somewhere that she’d have an item similar to dnd sending stones so that she could communicate with her loved ones and that’d certainly be her favorite, for checking in on them and also sending affection/flirtation while apart.

MEREDITH — also doesn’t have magic, my little rogue girly. i’ll just go with her favored rogue ability and that’s the archery scattershot! nothing like opening a combat encounter by stunning and damaging a whole group of enemies.
