Dextria, do you sometimes wish you had a baby girl? What would you name her?

A daughter would have been a gift, though I am still entirely proud of having a son. I probably would have named her after my mother, Eleanor. If not that then names I’ve always favored were Ambrose, Margaret, Raine, and Giselle.

Dextria, are you nervous about your calling?

Of course. I mean. I’ll probably be, what, in my mid thirties to early fourties when it happens? And Alistair will being going through it at the same time. We’ll be leaving the kingdom in the hands of an unimaginably young king. Bryce will probably be barely 15-20 years old. I’m paying a huge price but at the very least we were able to stop the blight.

Dextria, who do you miss more, mom or dad?

I always got along with my dad best, but I miss my mom a lot too. I think she’d be really proud of me. I wish she hadn’t stayed with my dad. I wish I could have gotten to him sooner. I miss both of them terribly.

Dextria and Alistair's son Bryce, and their miscarried child were both conceived with the help of a blood mage apostate she hired to be her children's nanny. She did this without consulting or ever telling Alistair. The blood mage performed a ritual that set the conditions in Dextria's womb perfect for conception. Without doing this, the two would never have had an heir.
