Hey anon from the 11th of January! I wish you well!

Here are 3 things that currently make me happy:

any member of LS Dunes: Either bc they are the silliest motherfuxer on earth or bc their talent is unmatched in my eyes. Their angelic voice (as in group voice not just Anthonys Voice) roots me deep into this planet, when I've almost flew to another sphere. Also they are currently all my favourite people!

Mimi: I missed them a lot and already miss them a lot. I cherish them and they make me feel like I'm being the person I wanna be. And I think we somehow click, and in recent years the amount of time I would have to say "Verhext" is kinda scary.

I watched Bluey recently (yes I'm an adult who watches Bluey, its too good!! 😂) and I saw an episode where Bluey and Bingo deliever a love message to their mum and dad after they have a small disagreement, and I imagine Willow and Aurora doing something like that!

Just them being all giggly and secretive and Carmen's just so confused until he watches them give you the message 🥹

It really wasn't an argument, rather just a chat about things you hadn't communicated. You and Carmy really tried to be perfect parents, but that just wasn't possible. Willow had a small habit of sneaking out of her room during naptime, and she overheard you and Carmy having a small disagreement. In her mind, of course, it seemed like you two were unhappy with ach other.

From that point, Willow decides she has to take matters into her own hands while you sit in Aurora's nursery, and Carmen is in the kitchen. She makes her way in, paper and crayons in hand. You smile at her as you sit in the rocking chair with Aurora, whose been fighting naptime for the past half hour, her eyes finally closing. "Hi, Wils. What's up?" You ask softly.

She doesn't answer, instead plopping beside you, beginning to scribble some hearts on the paper. You watch as she does this, her hearts looking more like blobs but at least she's trying her hardest.

She hands it to you. "Dada." She says. You finally catch on, exhaling. "Okay, okay. Let's go give this to dada." You say, as you stand, setting Aurora gently down in the crib before you walk hand-in-hand downstairs with Willow, her handing you the paper.

She points to Carmen, practically motioning for you to give him the paper. You laugh, kissing the top of her head. "Thanks, Wils. Go play, yeah? I'll take it from here." You say. You walk over to Carmen in the kitchen, greeting him with a kiss on the back of his shoulder like you usually do. "Your daughter drew this for me to give you." You set the paper in front of him.

He stares at it, a grin coming across his face. "Think she wants us to tell each other we love the other." You nod. "Something tells me that's what's happening." He turns to you, pressing a kiss against your lips, hands wrapped around your waist. "I love you." He says.

"I love you, too, Carm." You reply before turning to the doorway where Wilow's watching. You grin. "Come here, sweet girl." Carmen requests as she runs at him, jumping into his arm where he scoops her up, as he begins kissing her face, giggles bursting out of her.

You notice the small drawing on the edge of the paper that wasn't clear before. A stick figure of what you assume is you and Carmen, holding hands.

You stare at it until you're being attacked with kisses by Willow and Carmen, her giggles making you smile as she kisses all over your face, with Carmen doing the same thing.

hi! i wanted to know if you had any thoughts about possibilities for the interactions between kon & matrix? as she was supergirl when he came into the scene and i know they interacted at least a little

they did! this is gonna get kinda long, my apologies, but lets gooo.

so kon and mae's relationship is... fascinating. they started off pretty sweet, with her being a warm and friendly presence when he started off as superboy - she invited him for dinner with lex, and all that, plus helped him with the stinger bridge incident. i often also think about the bit during the trial of superman arc where he tried to teach her to play magic the gathering with him:

however. their relationship took a significant turn for the worse shortly after this, during the arc in which knockout groomed kon into a relationship and manipulated him into helping her run from accountability for a murder he thought she was falsely accused of committing. the press turned very negative about kon aiding and abetting her escape, and mae showed up to confront him about it:

superboy (1994) #28

now there is a LOT to say about this arc and this issue, but there are two main things that stand out to me the most. firstly - this is pretty much a textbook example of what NOT to do when someone is in an abusive relationship, i.e. throw an ultimatum that they have to listen to you and leave immediately. it's how to drive them further into their abuser's arms, and that's exactly what happens with kon and knockout (she even literally tells him he doesn't need anyone but her, which is a classic abuse tactic. isolate the victim from his other would-be support.) ironically, this is also exactly how mae herself reacted when clark and the kents objected (much more gently than she did here!) to her relationship with lex luthor. it is so textbook "what not to do when someone you care about is in an abusive relationship" that i really wonder if kesel did it on purpose. i can't say he did with any confidence, though, given how victim blamey the rest of the narrative gets towards kon and how much he clearly still has a boner for knockout even after this arc ends, but... it is fascinating, i guess.

secondly, though, as much as it sucks, i would say this is completely consistent with mae's characterization in her own run (supergirl '96) which starts not too long after this. mae fuses with linda, which means... she and kon never actually work this out between them. however, mae is consistently characterized as someone who means well but can be hotheaded, judgmental, and prone to being pretty holier-than-thou when she jumps into situations without assessing them fully beforehand, like when a priest of a scam church in her name dies in front of her because she ignored him having a heart attack, not realizing he was trying to reach for his pills and begging her to help him reach the bottle he'd dropped, because she thought he was just scared of her and pleading for mercy. so her harshly judging kon for being in an abusive relationship, having recently escaped her own with lex luthor (in supergirl 1994), is in line with her characterization; in fact, it's entirely possible that she's so angry with kon here because it's the misplaced remnants of her anger at herself.

this is pretty much the last nail in the coffin for kon and mae's relationship. as long as mae is the more dominant personality in the linda-mae fusion (i.e. the first 50 issues of supergirl vol 4), she and kon don't really interact much anymore, and when they do it's without the warmth their relationship used to have (the "skyhog!" moment, hilarious as it is, comes to mind). HOWEVER, once mae and linda separate, and linda becomes supergirl, she has other opinions on it:

kon and linda have a much better relationship than kon and mae - this is the first time kon talks to her since her split from mae, and from there on, their interactions are pretty warm! linda gives him advice on how to patch up his friendship with robin after their fight on apokolips, and takes some inspiration from their conversation to patch up her bond with buzz, too. i won't get too far into linda & kon since that's not what you asked about and this is already a long post, but i do love them dearly 🥺

tl;dr my thoughts on kon and mae are mostly like, i think she saw herself in him in a lot of ways (the naivety, for one), but she didn't always like what she saw, and that put some significant strain on their relationship. there was love to be lost between them, like, in sb94 #28 kon even mentions they were just working together and helping free superman from false accusations, and mae is trying to reach him; she just doesn't go about it in the best way and it blows up in both of their faces, and her run establishes that she's got a proud streak and doesn't really like apologizing. so it's.... complicated! oof.

mermaid! scaramouche splashing water in your face with his tail, causing you to become soaked. he would laugh and wave you off, though not before peering through his half-lidded eyes to see your expression. he’s been the most interesting mer-person by far.

he says he doesn’t like to sing but does it so well. he hates eating fish but knows a lot about which one is better for grilling. he says human treasure is worthless, yet he always finds himself being drawn to inazuman clothes and accessories washed ashore. he says he doesn’t get sunburnt but demands that you set up an umbrella for him.

truly the most annoying of his kind, but he owns it.

The most high maintenance and tedious mermaid to work with honestly. You don't know why you keep coming back, just to practically be in his servitude. He expects you to cook every fish he brings you for him to eat, and it has to be seasoned and grilled perfectly, otherwise he'll complain for ages and claim that you're trying to poison him (He still eats it all tho). You're too enamored by him to leave, your curiosity always bringing you back to his shore. He's always cranky though if you've been away for a long time.

He's the type to throw fish or crabs at passersby to keep them away from your meeting spot. Sometimes, he spits a stream of water at children and swims away just as they bring their parents, pointing at the water to say that they saw a person, just for their parents to drag them away and tell them to stop making up stories while he's happily giggling underwater.

When you're bored, you make sandcastles together, and he's always the ruler of whatever kingdom you make. He pretends that all the sand dwellers/critters are his subjects and sometimes (tries) to hold public executions for any he deemed defy them (they were running away) just for you to stop him before he chops a poor crab and ask you to cook it.

And as much as he doesn't care for treasures as he claims, he still goes digging around the ocean floor, excavating treasures from the ocean and from lost human possessions to lazily gift them to you, claiming he found them laying around and thought you'd appreciate the 'junk' or whatever humans called it. He loved seeing your face light up at the things he brings, but he'll never admit it.

He doesn't usually engage in your conversation about your day, but you find that he tokens every little like and dislike you happen to mention and keeps it in the back of his mind for later, sometimes using it to pick out better gifts. He plays coy (lol) whenever you ask him about it though!

Hey anon here are 5 things that generally make me happy, before I drop this in a few askboxes.

Music: There will always be the perfect tune for any situation, and that's what I need. Other times I need to listen to an entire album and get the feels, bc yes while a single song can make feel something... the entire album usually makes me feel them all. And if it's a coherent album it's the greatest thing on this planet. what a coherent album is you have to decide for yourself and for personal reasons I won't rn share an example.

Concerts: A good artist/band might make me feel several things during a concert and make me dance all those burdens on my shoulders aways for at least the duration of the concert, but will definitely help me get a clearer head and enjoy myself a bit. Letting loose in public is hard, but certain people manage to let me achieve it.

My dogs: a snout to the face, a little look, a side eye and little tug on my clothing, a wiggle but or even just the thought of them can relief any stress and pain. and them being happy to see me and interacting with me is the best feeling in the world.

Nature: being in nature is healing, I think we all agree.

Friends: these tiny butterflies in your stomach, when you finally see those friends again... yes those that make you do silly things, let loose a bit and that just simply make you happy. cherish them and try not to let them go. We need them, you need them, and they need you.

so thank you anon with the vibrating heart emojis and the sun rise/set emojis! May the warmth of the sun touch your skin and heal all your heartaches during this time on this stupid planet.

Omg imagine Carmy going into a coffeeshop and a reallyyyy talented barista works there, however her boss treats her in the same way that Carmy’s head chef in NY treated him. Maybe some mishap happens with Carmy’s drink (like she trips and the drink spills or something when she’s trying to hand it to him) and her boss literally goes off on her and Carmy intervenes. He offers her a job on the spot, right in front of her boss, and she literally quits right then and there and walks out with Carmy. He wants to give her a better work environment and doesn’t want her skills to go to waste. Sooo The Bear ends up adding a coffeeshop menu, Y/n heading that front! oh my goodness just imagine:

it's a stressful day. there's maybe thirteen customers you're making drinks for, with your manager breathing down your neck about it. carmen's been watching you, taking note of the drinks you create. he's immediately impressed with you, as is everyone. even through the chaos, he also notices how sweet and patient you are with people.

he watches as you mess up an order, his order to be more specific - maybe tripping over something as you go to hand it to him, maybe just the order was wrong - and your manager freaks. pulling you into the hallway away from the barista bar, and carmen knows whats happening. the memories of his head chef in new york, the degrading sentences. he's immediately up and rushing toward you.

as he nears the hallway, it's clear there's a voice yelling, and it sure as hell isn't yours. it feels all too familiar as he walks over. "alright, you. take a breather, leave the poor girl alone. your staff's doing the fucking best they can and you're doing nothing. go make some of the drinks, why don't you?" carmen asks, stepping in between you and your manager.

the manager, after a few more curses and arguments are thrown, steps away. you let out a sigh of relief at his being gone, looking toward carmen. "i'm so sorry about that, sir. did you need something from me?" you ask.

"yeah. i'm carmen berzatto, i run the bear down the road. i want you to come work for me." maybe it was rushed, maybe the business opportunity could have waited.

you stare at him, laughing. "the bear doesn't have a coffee menu or even a barista bar. that idea clearly didn't come across his mind, you can see it by his facial expressions. "we're still under renovation. we'll make one. i want you to front it. you've got potential, skill. don't waste it for an asshole like that who can't realize it."

so you quit! and you go, work for the bear, and now im imagining a whole series with reader and carmen falling in love lmao

lyney loves helping you get ready whenever you’re going out. you want your hair done? no problem, he knows exactly what’ll suit you. not sure what to wear? well, he’ll tell you which colours go well with your skin palette and which outlines complement your body shape. want to paint your nails? he’s already laid out all the colours in front of you (and will definitely kiss your knuckles once he’s finished.) you wear makeup? let him do your eyeliner; he’s got you covered, and can probably do it better than you could yourself. (he will, however, take the opportunity to paint a little heart on your cheek if you’re not careful. ‘see?’ he’ll grin, pointing at the teardrop on his own cheek. ‘now we match.’)

he also loves dancing with you—like, i’m imagining a typical ballroom (but maybe a bit more steampunky), and he pulls your favourite flower from what looks like thin air, lowers into a bow, holds the flower out to you, and presses his lips to the back of your hand when you take it, eyes glimmering as he asks, ‘would you care to indulge me with a dance, [monsieur/ mademoiselle/ a gender neutral equivalent]?’

and he’s such a gentleman while you’re dancing, too; one hand hovering on your hips, the other holding yours, and he definitely twirls you around, no question about it. he probably also does that thing where he catches you and you stare at each other for a long, romantic-tension-you-could-cut-with-a-knife moment before he pulls you back up.

his favourite place to kiss you is probably your knuckles—you always get adorably flustered when he just barely skims his lips over the back of your hand, and he wouldn’t give up that expression for the world—closely followed by the tip of your nose and your lips and your forehead and— (you get the idea…)

also, going back to when you’re in the crowd during his performances, him trying to find you in the audience becomes a game over time: you’ll try and make yourself as inconspicuous as possible, and he’ll look for you as he’s performing. he’s never not managed to spot you before, and each time he does and you make eye contact, he winks at you and blows you a kiss.

i feel like there’s also a chance he might actually propose to you onstage at the end of a performance if he was sure you’d be comfortable with it: like, everyone’s about to take their bows, and he suddenly asks for a ‘surprise volunteering act’—of course, you get picked (what are the chances?), and once you’re on stage, he announces, ‘now, my dearest volunteer, i only need your hand for this magic trick. nothing more, nothing less.’

you raise an eyebrow, unsure what he’s planning—this ‘surprise act’ was certainly not on the lineup he described to you—and to your (and everyone else in the audience’s astonishment), he gets down on one knee, takes off his hat, and pulls a little box from it. the whole theatre is silent: you could hear a pin drop as he clears his throat and says, ‘if you’d be so kind as to humour me… may i ask for your hand in marriage?’ safe to say, that was a day nobody who was there ever forgot…

(of course, if he thinks you might be uncomfortable with such a public proposal, he’ll stick with something more private.)

I. Don't. Care. What. ANYONE. Says. Lyney frequently kissing your hands is canon. Back, Knuckles, Wrist, Ring, ANYWHERE he can put his lips on. And he always smiles into it too.

Since he's part of the performance industry, it's common knowledge for him to know how to do hair and makeup. So if you ever struggle to do those things, he'll learn how to style and take care of your hair no matter the texture, type, or length. It might be trial and error but you both have fun bonding together, especially when he tries doing your makeup.

Archons forbid he ever puts lip gloss or something on your lips (it's gonna end up on his regardless, he has no self control when he's already inches away from kissing you). He makes a mess and has to redo it again, but that's after the mini make out session, he doesn't mind at all though... he might try to kiss you again. NEVER let them know your next move. 😭

(poor Freminet had walked in on you guys accidentally and wanted the ocean to swallow him whole- immediately reverses out of there and had trouble looking the two of you in the eyes right after.)

LOVES LOVES LOVES dancing with you, even if you can't dance or have difficulty doing so. He'll hold/carry you if he has to and just sway and spin you around. He doesn't mind if you trip up or stumble over his feet. He'll correct it, his hands guiding your hips, whispering instructions and praises as his words brush and fan across your neck, sending shivers down your spine.

He spins you like a princess, and if he's bold enough, he might throw you in the air and catch you (much to your frightened squeals and dismay). Whether you're in the spotlight or dancing in the dark, swaying in the rain, or practicing in a ballroom, his eyes are forever locked on yours. And don't expect him to dip you and NOT leave a kiss (unless he feels like teasing you). It's truly a crime to him if he doesn't at this opportune moment.

Dancing with him feels like a fairytale.
