It's based on many stories of missing women and of femicide. It features a woman searching for her missing daughter and becoming an activist for the thousands of missing people countrywide.

As it's based on real things happening in the country, the production included help from real mothers of missing people, called madres buscadoras. They're activists that search all over the country for their loved ones, either dead or alive. The madres buscadoras of the state of San Luis Potosí acted and advised in this movie.

It's an amazing film that deals with some of the most delicate subjects in mexican society and has an amazing story.

sorry to get personal again today, but i got sick yesterday and since i'm unable to go the the women's march i today i will be screaming here

I know today is International Women's Day and for a lot of people it's a day of celebration and conmemoration and that's okay, it is important to remember and honor those who fought before us

But in you live in Latin America, then you know that today is not really a celebration. It is almost a day of collective grief for all us. Especially everyone who has lost a a sister, wife, aunt, friend, etc to murder or disappearance

And in Mexico the goverment cares so little that it has provided basically zero help to stop this violence.

It's the very same people who grieve their loved ones who have had to organize themselves so they are able to get answers about what happened to their lost ones.

The Madres Buscadoras are a collective who searches mass graves all throughout the country in hopes that they can find the remians of their loved ones.

Imagine having to dig the bones and remains of your wife, your sister or your friend with your own hands because the police refused to do anything to help you

and the worse thing is that even the madres buscadoras have disappeared while searching their loved ones because they want to keep them quiet, they don't want them and us to know what happened

where is the justice in that ?!?!?!?

I'm so fucking tired of feeling this horrible pressure in chest everytime my mom or sister go out alone and the only thing i can do is pray and pray they get home safely

i'm tired of having to turn on my location and take a picture of my outfit every time i go out because if i dissapear those will be the only references my family will have of me

i'm tired of listening to how many of us have been killed or assaulted everyday on the news because everyday you hear of a new case

i'm tired of the violence and injustice against little girls

im tired of people who think marching, burning and vandalising monuments is not an appropriate way to protest because they rather defend a monument than our bodies

Cecilia Patricia Flores Armenta known as Ceci Flores is a Mexican human rights activist. She is the founder and leader of Madres Buscadoras de Sonora y de México (searching mothers of Sonora) – a group of women searching for missing or disappeared people in Mexico. Two of Flores’ six children were kidnapped in 2019.

Ceci Flores is from Northern Mexico. Her son, Alejandro along with his boss disappeared in Los Mochis, Sinaloa in 2015. In 2019, two of her children Marco Antonio and Jesús Adrián aged 15 were kidnapped by a cartel. Flores identified one of the men who kidnapped her two sons and threatened him to return her sons. Days later Adrián was released but his brother Antonio remains missing to date.

The search for her son led Flores and other women searching for missing family members to found Searching Mothers of Sonora. The group organize search parties with anti-kidnapping unit of the police but police was inefficient due to lack of fuel and frequent break down of patrol vehicles. In 2021, Flores and her group abandoned the police and decided to reach out directly to the cartels in Sinaloa and Sonora by posting messages on social media making different requests to the cartel. In one of the messages, Flores made a plea to the cartels: “I’m reaching out to the leaders of the cartels. We’re not looking for justice, all we want is to find our missing loved ones and give them a proper burial,”. The group then posted a specific message on social media requesting the cartels to allow them search La Bartolina, a mass gravesite close to the U.S. border on the Gulf Coast. They asked the cartels to drop a banner by the border fence if they approve their request to search the forest for missing people. Days later, a banner was found and the Searching Mothers went into the forest where they discovered and excavated a mass grave containing human skeletons.

Later, this method was adopted by other groups searching for missing people but the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was piqued and accused the searching mothers of colluding with cartels and opposition groups against his government. Flores responded in a video message posted to social media stating that “If I have to go to hell itself, I’ll do it. And if I have to ask narcos for help, I’ll do that too.” On 17 April 2023, Flores was disappeared. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador ordered troops to start an operation to locate her. She was found 15 hours after her disappearance

TRAS DENUNCIA DE LAS “MADRES BUSCADORAS”: CATEAN PRESUNTO CREMATORIO DE LA FUNERARIA GAMERO EN

CHETUMAL

Fecha 16 enero, 2025076

CHETUMAL, MX.- Elementos de la Policía Estatal y de la Fiscalía General del Estado iniciaron esta tarde un cateo en un presunto crematorio de la Funeraria Gamero, en Chetumal.

De acuerdo con datos preliminares, este operativo policiaco es llevado a cabo a raíz de una denuncia realizada por integrantes del colectivo “Madres Buscadoras de Quintana Roo”.

En el lugar se encuentran integrantes de este colectivo, quienes aseguran que este inmueble es un crematorio clandestino, pues no cuenta con las licencias correspondientes.

Informes aún no confirmados por las autoridades refieren que este lugar pertenece a la funeraria de Luis Gamero, secretario general del Ayuntamiento de Othón P. Blanco y exfuncionario del gobierno estatal.

Al corte de las 6:30 de la tarde, este operativo aún continuaba, con una fuerte presencia de elementos policíacos de los tres niveles de gobierno.

Se espera que en breve las autoridades correspondientes brinden informes detallados sobre este operativo. (Agencia SIM)
