There's LITERALLY WWII propaganda, put out by the US military to raise money, that features drag. It's a musical comedy called This Is The Army. Every one on set, except for good ol Ronnie Reagan and handful of bonafide movie stars, is an active duty soldier and half of them are in heels and a dress. This is the Army was the highest grossing musical film for a solid decade. (comment courtesy of @our-lady-of--singularities)

Snape trauma rant
Warnings: mentions of abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, and r@pe
Soooo…I just got finished watching Madea’s neighbor from hell and the whole time I couldn’t stop thinking about Severus.
(For those who don’t know, the play is about a foster mother (Ruth) that moves in next door to Madea and Aunt Bam. She was very abusive to the kids and neglected them.)
Also this is my POV and opinion so if you’re a Marauders stan pls don’t get whiny about it…
It was so interesting to see how these three kids reacted to the situation they were in. Ruth, their foster mother, would beat them and fail to feed them. She was also very verbally abusive. She would say stuff like “you are nothing” and “do you think you’re prettier than me? Well you’re not” and so many other things. NATURALLY the children didn’t respond well to being abused (go figure). They were rude and disrespectful towards people (ofc when the foster mother wasn’t around), and the oldest child(Karen) felt like she had to resort to stealing in order to feed her siblings and keep them satisfied.
I am by no means justifying being rude and disrespectful, but what kills me about Snaters is they are quick to point out what Severus does wrong, but they fail to understand that there’s a reason…something obviously went wrong in his life and this snark and vindictiveness is him projecting. He’s taking it out on others because he couldn’t (or felt he couldn’t) take it out on the people who caused him the pain. I’ve been through something similar but definitely not as extreme. One parent did me wrong, and since they weren’t there for me to take that out on…I took it out on the parent that WAS there…does that make me a bad person? No. I needed HELP…that’s what that means…I didn’t hate the parent that was there at all, I was acting out because I wanted the absent parent’s attention.
Then Snaters always say “oh well he should have consulted an adult if it was that bad for him”…..it’s not that simple I’m afraid. In the movie, all three kids were constantly threatened with beatings and even death in the occasion that they told anyone about the situation. That’s something that happens in real life…isn’t that what people talk about with sexual assault survivors? R@pe survivors? Domestic violence survivors? How they are afraid to come forward out of humiliation? Or fear of not being believed? How a lot of them are threatened? Why is any different now??? In the movie, it was the brother that decided to take the chance to get help, and it was the oldest (karen) that didn’t think it was a good idea…she was scared. It was heartbreaking.
When Ruth was exposed for being abusive, she admitted that she had been in a similar situation as a child. She was also a foster child, she was r@ped multiple times, and she was abused. And that got me thinking about the Sirius argument that’s used a lot… “well Sirius was abused, he didn’t turn out like Snape” if Sirius was abused then why’d he engage in the RELENTLESS bullying of another person? “He grew up” then why was he still engaging in the childish name calling as an adult? “Snivellus”…making fun of ones appearance. “Well Severus made fun of Hermione’s appearance!” And that makes it ok for Sirius to do it? With that logic it was ok for Snape to do it because James and Co. did it…that’s not how that works, bestie. I think we can all agree that Sirius needed help…therapy…right? So why is it any different for Severus? If Mr. Black isn’t a bad person in your eyes then why is Severus?
Now of course Tyler Perry has his big life lesson speech moments in his plays so here’s what he had to say (it’s a lot):
There are mentions of god. I’m not religious, I’m just telling you what was said
Regarding speaking up
Madea: hunny tell her. Tell these people. (these people: CPS)
Karen: Why!? They don’t care about us!
Madea: That ain’t true, hunny. Tell them, and if you run up on somebody and that’s who you tell and they don’t care, tell somebody else. And then tell somebody else, and eventually you gonna run up on somebody that care, hunny. Keep telling people. Keep reaching out for people, for people to be there to help you. There’s somebody that god will send to help you.
Regarding the effects of abuse on children
Ruth: Why not talk to them like that, Patti? Huh? Somebody talk to me like that my entire life Patti, but guess what baby, I’m a winner. Look how I turned out! They talked to me like that everyday but look at me baby, I’m on top of it!
Madea: You know what’s the craziest thing you saying? You think you got it together…you crazy as hell. You think you up top of the mountain? Im getting ready to choke you all the way down to the bottom of it, cause you have lost yo damn mind.
Ruth: What you chokin me for? Huh? All I did was put them on punishment. Yea I put them on punishment, but that’s what’s wrong with children these days! They don’t know-
Madea: girl…shut up with that foolishness. Shut up with this foolishness right now. There is a difference…hear me good when I say this…between punishing a child, and doin what the hell you doin. That is abuse. You have to know where the line is, hunny. All that stuff, that’s abuse, do you understand? You don’t do that to no child! You don’t do that! Have you lost yo mind? Got them down in the basement. Stop it, it is awful. Learn the difference, hunny. But that’s alright, you gonna have time to learn the difference because getting ready to be on lockdown, you goin straight to jail.
Ruth: Say- what- what
Clay: The police are on their way
Ruth: Wait a minute. Y’all called the police on me?
Madea and Bam: HELL YEA
Clay: And not only that, I’m gonna talk to the DA about prosecuting you for the money that you received for the children
Ruth: Prosecuting me for some what!? Prosecuting me for some mon- baby I spent all that money on those children, and if they standing up in my house telling you that I’m putting my hands on them, they lying on me! I don’t understand why they just gonna stand over here and lie on me, talkin about I beat them! Are you kidding me?…Look I was just tryna help these children.
Madea: How the hell you helping them by talkin about them like they a dog and beatin them and doin all that?
Ruth: I put a roof over their heads when didn’t nobody want them lady.
Madea: You know what, you crazy as hell. You sound like somebody’s stupid parent..think just because they give they child a roof over their head that they can dog them out and talk to them any kinda way and do anything they want to them. That is crazy as hell, hunny. You got to be careful with these children. Let me try to make you understand this. You gotta watch the children that’s been neglected and outcast and givin up on and thrown away and left to die and left for nothin. Watch out for those kinda children, cause that’s usually where god will put the blessing, in those kinda children. Do you understand?
Ruth: you don’t know me ok. You don’t even know what I’ve been through!
Madea: Whatever the hell you been through does not give you the right to pass your pain on to nobody else hunny. Especially no child. Somebody got to stop it, hunny. Somebody got to say “this is enough”.
Ruth: Look, I was in foster care just like they were, ok.
Madea: you think that make it ok? That makes it worse, girl.
Ruth: You can’t judge me, lady.
Madea: oh I’m not about to judge you. Imma let the judge judge you….that makes it worse, you’ve been where they are AND you gonna treat them like that? That’s crazy as hell. Let me tell you something, I would rather you leave me out on the street in the cold, then to bring me up in yo house and treat me like I’m nothing.
Ruth: I didn’t mean to hurt them, ok.
Madea: stop that lying, I can see it all in ya attitude. You meant to do just what the hell you meant to do
Ruth: Look, I was beatin…I was r@ped so many times I can’t even remember, ok. Somebody talked about me, and said I wasn’t gonna be nothing my entire life.
Madea: And how did that make you feel when that happened? Did it make you feel good? Did it make you feel like you were worth something?
Ruth: No
Madea: When they talked to you like a dog, did that tear your self esteem down?
Ruth: yes ma’am, it did
Madea: yes it did, yes it did. What the hell you think you doin to these children? You think just because they children you can talk to them any old kinda way? Let me tell you something, when you are raising a child, you give them a bag to pack. Everything you do, you put something in that bag. It’s like you giving them a lunchbox then sending them off to school, but the bag you packin is for their LIFETIME. So everything you give them, they will carry for life. Do you hear me? What are you giving your child? What are you putting in the bag? You supposed to be putting in love and faith and peace and temperance, and all that stuff in it. But what you doin is giving them hell to carry, so when they get grown all they got is a bunch of bags that they can’t do nothing with and don’t nobody wanna be bothered with them and don’t nobody wanna be around them, because of what you’ve gave them. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. There is a (couldn’t understand word) that you are passing down from generation to generation. It’s got to stop somewhere, and who gonna stop it if you don’t stop it?
Now I completely realize that people are gonna “Severus=Ruth” but it goes both ways. Ruth can also represent Sirius to an extend as well. I don’t care how young he was. He was old enough to know that what he was going through at home was painful and that he didn’t like it, but he was also old enough to realize he was putting someone else through that, regardless if he knew of Snape’s domestic situation or not. Then he was still stuck in his ways towards Severus as in adult and never thought it would be mature to apologize. Same with Severus. He was vindictive and made a lot of poor decisions. But they both needed help…whether it was therapy or somebody telling them about their ass like Madea did. Ruth “didn’t mean to do it” but she did, because that’s all she knew…that was her bag that people in her life packed for her. Somebody needed to step in and tell both Severus and Sirius that their bags were packed wrong. That’s the problem, nobody corrected them. That’s the effect of a bystander.
And again I’m not saying Severus is perfect. I know I act like he is for the shits and giggles, but trust me, I love and recognize his flaws as much as I love and recognize his good, because his flaws are what made him…him. And you can’t say “I love you” without loving what makes them…them. I love you means I love all of you, and I absolutely love Severus Snape as a person. I couldn’t care less if you hate him because I still don’t like the Marauders, but I just hate that the 4 people who assisted in putting shit in Sev’s bag don’t get held accountable… how Severus is the one to blame for everything. He spent years protecting Harry without expecting nothing in return, he obviously cared to some extent. He just didn’t know how to show it. I wish he could’ve gotten help. He probably would have been a little happier.
And I hate the argument that us Snape stans use his redemption to excuse his behavior. That’s wrong..lord forbid I say the same thing about Marauder stans. His redemption showed us that just because you’re bag is filled with fuckery, doesn’t mean the good someone put in there won’t shine through ✨✨✨

Hulu New Releases: April 2021
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
While the first day of spring technically belongs to March, everyone knows that it kicks into high gear in April. To celebrate the changing of the seasons, Hulu is finally bringing back its signature original series for April 2021.
Season 4 of the multiple Emmy award-winning The Handmaid’s Tale premieres on April 28. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen June and her dystopian world. In fact, it’s been so long that our own world decided to endure its own dystopian pandemic in the meantime. Hopefully this series’ return will mean we can keep our political and social collapses on television where they belong.
Aside from The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu isn’t brining much else to the table in terms of originals this month. Thankfully, the one other original that Hulu has in store for April sounds completely righteous. Sasquatch, the latest docuseries from the Duplass brothers producing team, will cover exactly what the title promises. This three-part series heads off to the Pacific Northwest for a tale about an elicit pot farm and the possibility that three men were viciously murdered by Big Foot on it. Sign us up!
Library titles for Hulu in April 2021 are also pretty thin. But April 1 does feature the arrival Mad Max (1980) and Die Hard (1988). Then April 28 sees the arrival of…well, Arrival (2016). Those aren’t bad streaming options in case the weather in April decides to not be spring-like.

Top 5 Trailers:
1. IT : Chapter 2
youtube
So I actually hate horror movies mostly, but I have a couple exceptions and IT in all forms (og miniseries and novel) is one and I think the most recent IT part 2 trailer is so well done and makes me so excited for it. And I love Pennywise's lines over the trailer.
2. Pan's Labyrinth
youtube
Honestly, voice over aside (which kinda ruins it in my opinion) this is a trailer that has stuck with me over the years. The images of war the shifts in color scheme and the lullaby hummed over it. The film itself is just a master piece and I saw it in theaters when I was pretty young and probably shouldnt have but I have not regrets.
3. Booksmart
youtube
This trailer completes my soul and I still havent seen the film because nowhere near me is showing it and I am literally dying.
4. Boo! A Madea Halloween
youtube
Honestly just the first shift away from what I expected from a tyler Perry movie. I was used to the trailers having the funny parts some voice over and dramatic music and those inspiring words at the end. And while he had been veering more towards comedy leading up to it. BOO! A Medea Halloween's trailer really hit home that this was going to be different than his previous films.
5. Crimson Peak
youtube
So 2 Guillermo Del Toro films made it on this list and after I said I didnt really like horror 3 horror like films are on the list. But I mean first off, if the trailer of a horror film catches my eyes then you know they done good, because generally I don't like horror and avoid horror movie trailers because I am a big baby. But I will say that because Guillermo's films have similar vibes and feels to them the images are always captivating in trailers. I think you have to work hard to mess up a trailer for a del Toro film because you have so much to work with. But I think what I particularly love about this trailer is the song.
Top 5 Netflix Originals
1. The Haunting of Hill House
Have I mentioned that I hate horror. I wouldnt actually classify this as horror though. But it still left me disturbed, mostly because it hit too close to home for me. I identified so much with some of the characters. One in particular that what they went though and how they reacted became an extension of me in a sense. It felt to real even though it was a show. I cried had nightmares and was left emotionally exhausted. But I have rewatched it and recommended it. And probably will do so again. It holds a special place in my heart.
2. One Day At A Time
I just love this show. Love the representation. Love the issues it tackles. Love the comedy. Especially love the heart felt and real moments. I love Rita Moreno!
3. The Umbrella Academy
Honestly, most of the time I am like so confused with this show and face palming like crazy, but there are so many really well executed concepts and storylines that I really adore and dont want to spoil.
4. Mr.Igelsias
So basically the same reasons I love ODAAT, but some special love for representing my paisanos!! Fluffy is Gold but I love the setting of the show in a school. I love the focus on teacher without spinning it in a saviour way the way most shows or movies do it.
5. The Order
I love it. I cant explain why because the writing isnt the best and in some places I fond it to be to The Magicians (which I never cared for) but I like it. I will watch if it has a season 2 and I will daydream about hamish duke until then.

Honey
Pairing; Sam Wilson x Reader
Warnings; Infinity war. Angst, i suppose.
A/n; I'm sleep deprived. I need Sam Wilson to make me feel better about myself.
Your day was literal shit.
Now, i won't go into too much detail about it, but i can assure you it was one of the worst days of your life. Your coffee maker stopped working, you ran out of coffee, Sam, ate your last Hot pocket, you had to go in early for work, and to top it all off... Your co-workers were being extra annoying today giving you an extreme headache instantly.
But like most days, you remained positive. You had something, or rather someone, to look forward to when you get off from work. Granted, Sam wouldn't get home till 2 hours after you did. This gave you time to take a shower, cook dinner, then maybe take a nap till he got home. He'd always go to your shared bedroom and see you bundled up in blankets peacefully resting. He'd climb in right next to you holding you to himself as close as possible and press chaste kisses to your neck till you woke up. Other days, when he wasn't feeling it, he would just sleep with you tucked under him with your head resting on his chest and his arms around your waist holding you with an iron grip.
Today was wake up my beloved wife with kisses day, and Sam was having none of the whole, pretending to sleep to get more kisses act. He saw the corners of your mouth twitch and he began to pepper your face with dozens of kisses on your cheeks, forehead, temple, nose, mouth, every square inch of your face. You laughed as he did so, and it only made him do it more. He adored your laugh, and if he could he would listen to it on repeat till the day he died. It was contagious, he could've had the worst day and the moment he heard your laugh, all his worries went away, he would try to suppress a smile, but he would beam the moment you laughed. When he was done smothering your face in kisses, he pecked your lips once and laid back down, you both turned in your sides to look at each other. You smiled at him and he returned it, you found his hand under the sheets and pulled it towards your mouth to give it a kiss,
'Hi sweetheart.' You said sweetly.
He smiled at the pet name, 'Hi honey.'
You beamed at the nickname, he always called you Honey, and you loved it. The very first day you met four years ago, Honey was the first thing he called you. You remembered it like yesterday, you were down running laps near the Washington Monument, and he was there too. He was running with Steve Rogers, or commonly known as Captain America, and when you passed by and he saw you, he had to say something to you. The first thing being something like, hey honey think you can best me in a race? Loser buys winner dinner. You must admit, he did sound like a prick at first, but then you got to know him, when he bought you dinner, and he was a gentleman, he was caring and didn't mind the fact you beat him in a race.
'I made dinner, chicken alfredo, if you wanna eat now i can go warm it up.' You said looking over his features.
'How about i go warm up the food while you put on a movie so we can watch and eat?' He suggested.
You nodded your head and he kissed your forehead, 'Which movie?'
'You can pick, i picked out last weeks.' He said.
He walked out of the room and you lay there for a moment before stretching. You walked into the living room and looked through the many movies you had and decided on Madea goes to jail. It was one of Yours and Sam's favorites, and it was a comedy. The alarm started blaring and you rushed into the kitchen to see Sam putting out a small fire, he blew it out and turned to you. You walked over and leaned against his shoulder, you looked down in the pan and saw it was burnt. You looked at him and he sheepishly smiled,
'I um maybe put the fire a little too high.'
You chuckled and kissed his cheek, 'Chinese?' He smiled and nodded. He turned you to the side and held your waist, he kissed your lips. When he pulled away, he rested his forehead against your own,
'How did i get so lucky with you?'
You pecked his lips once more and pulled apart from him, 'The real question is how i got so lucky with you.' You turned the corner to grab your cell phone to call the Chinese place. When you finished placing your order, you heard Sam's phone ring, Steve Rogers, it read. You grabbed his phone and hurriedly brought it to Sam, he picked it up.
'Steve?' 'Yeah, why?' 'Right now?' 'Um i was gonna spend some time with Y/n.' 'You need me now?' 'O-okay, I'll be there soon.' He hung up and the most disappointed look overcame his features. He looked towards you and he pulled you into a hug.
'They need my help, Vision and Wanda are in trouble.' He informed you.
You wrapped Your arms around his neck and kissed his cheek, 'It's okay, if they really need you... Then you need to go.' You assured him. He kissed your forehead then went to the basement where he kept his equipment. You grabbed a slip of paper and a pen and wrote down the four words you'd say to him each and every day, I love you sweetheart, you figured if he couldn't hear you say it, that he could at least read it in your handwriting.
Sam walked out of the basement with his wings on and came over to you. He kissed you long and hard, and you could only do the same. You two pulled apart and embraced each other in a hug, you grabbed one of his hands and slipped the piece of paper in it, he looked at it then at you with a questioning gaze, you spoke before he could ask,
'Just so you remember that you have someone to come home to.' He nodded and kissed you one last time. He walked to the front door and smiled one more time, 'I love you, Honey'
You smiled back, 'I love you too, Sweetheart. Come back to me in one piece.'
'Always do.' He finally said before taking off. You didn't know how long this would take, you didn't know if he'd come back. But you did know, that he'd be thinking of you.
Later that day
You were watching the news, people were disappearing. You didn't know what caused this or why it was happening, but you felt like this was one of the reasons Sam had to leave. You were thinking of all the possible outcomes to this and the worst one had set in your mind, what if he was gone too? Your bad thoughts were cleared when there was knocks on the door, you looked through the peep hole and saw Steve, Rhodey, Nat, Thor, and Bruce. You didn't see him anywhere, and that thought had raced into your mind fast. You quickly opened the door,
'Steve?' You softly said.
He gave you a sympathetic look, everyone did, and that's when you knew. He was gone. Gone. Dusted away like many other people in the world. Your whole world was gone, he was gone, he wouldn't come home for who knows how long, you wouldn't see his face, you wouldn't get to trace your eyes over his features, every curve, line, and the tiny little imperfections he had. You wouldn't have your sunshine, you wouldn't have your happiness, you wouldn't have your sweetheart. You stumbled back into the house and left the door wide open, you sat yourself on the couch and didn't move, didn't say anything. You just sat there staring straight, blinking, not moving an inch.
They all filed into your house, Bruce quietly closed the door, Natasha came to sit by you on the couch. She wrapped her arms around you, and you flinched. You never flinched, never. When she saw you flinch, she retracted her arms back and just sat with you. On that day, you knew, everyone knew, nothing would ever be the same.
Four years later
You never really moved on since that day. You'd come home from work, take a shower, make dinner, take a nap, then wake up and watch a movie while eating. It was all the same, just like when Sam was there with you. On that day, four years ago, was the last day you saw any of them. Except for Steve who had come to talk to you about Sam and how he was feeling since he lost Bucky, again. You admit, Steve had been through so much, he didn't deserve any of this. On one of the days Steve had visited, he had told you they were going to come up with a way to try and get them back. You told him to not get your hopes up, so you don't end up more broken than you already are. He understood and hadn't talked about it anymore, instead he asked about your job or how you were.
Today, the air seemed thick enough to cut with a knife. You had heard from some of your coworkers that the Avengers, your closest friends, were going to try and get everyone back. Granted you didn't want to pay any attention to it, but these were your friends. Who knew if all of them would come back in one piece, or in a whole piece just not alive. There were many moments in your life that you spent with them, Christmas, Thanksgiving, any other major holiday, birthdays, yours and Sam's wedding, and random celebrations Tony would throw. You would always love them, and hopefully, they would always love you.
A few hours passed. The world seemed still, like time had stopped. People were crowding in central park, so you decided to stop by and check out what was happening. In the middle of central park, was a jet. Not just any jet. It was the quinjet. Bruised and injured Avengers started filing out in silence. Then out came Tony, who had been missing for years. Natasha somehow managed to spot you in the sea of people and made her way towards you. She wrapped her arms around you in a tired hug and you had to hold her, since she was practically falling right into your arms.
'We did it. We hope we did it. We got Thanos, we got the gauntlet, and we hopefully set everything back.' She tiredly said. You rubbed her back in comfort.
'It worked Nat. People are fading back. Look.' You said and she turned around to see people starting to come back.
The others came over to you two and gathered into a group hug, you and Nat at the center, and the others wrapped around randomly. You guys were interrupted when someone cleared their throat. You saw Bucky, Wanda, Peter, T'challa, Pepper, some other people; one had antennas, one was a tree, one had sideburns, and the other you couldn't quite tell.
'Mind if we join?' Bucky said. Steve walked up to him and pulled him into a hug. Wanda came up to you and Nat for a hug. Bruce, Clint, and T'challa huddled together. Thor, and Rocket met with the guardians. Tony, Pepper and Peter met in the middle and Tony yanked the kid into a hug while crying and kissed Peppers forehead. You still looked around for Sam, hoping that he was alright. You were about to talk with Steve and Bucky, but you heard his voice,
'Hi Honey.' His voice was like soft silk, it was the best thing you've heard in years. His voice was music to your ears, but you stopped. You stood still for a moment, not knowing if it was real or not. You turned around and there he was, battle worn and standing there with open arms and a smile adorning his face. You slowly walked towards him and stopped a mere foot in front of him. You brought a hand up to his face and slowly reached to touch it. When you felt his smooth skin under your fingertips, your eyes started filling with tears.
'Sweetheart?' You asked softly.
'I came back to you Honey, i told you, i always do.' He told you. You sprang into arms and sobbed.
'I missed you.' You choked out.
He held you tightly in his arms, running a hand through your hair to help soothe you, 'I missed you too, I never stopped thinking about you.'
‘I waited and waited but you never came back, but now you’re here and I couldn’t be happier.' You cried out.
'I know honey, I know. I'm happy I'm here with you.' He comforted.
He tilted your chin up and kissed you long. The world fell away, and it was just you two. The kiss was soft and sweet and oh so full of passion. His lips were the same soft ones you knew and the kiss was just as you remembered. You two spent as much time as possible together, he took a break from Avenging for a while and you took a vacation from work. You got back into your daily life, this time with Sam there again, and you were the happiest ever.
On that day, everyone knew, everything would be okay.

It’s okay if Maria and Carol don’t co-parent
So I’m taking comments off a piece of fan art and expanding it into it’s own post because it’s rude to comment directly on someone’s work and if people want to respond they can here.
This is one of those reflection posts where you become aware of a “concerning fandom trend” without trying to condemn people for enjoying or creating it. Similar, I hope, to the enlightening discussions about slash fics centering white, good looking men who already have so much power in canon, rather than exploring secondary characters of color or with disabilities or of the female persuasion. I think the result of that discussion definitely lead to more diverse fanworks without tempering previous fanaticism. All this to say, I am not trying to temper what people like but encourage everyone to explore different avenues in addition to the ones they like.
Captain Marvel has been out for almost a month and of course my timeline is flooded with people enthusiastic over the romatic possibility of Carol and Maria. I am also enthused. Fanworks about an interracial wlw couple raising a powerful young lady? Sign me the hell up, now and forever. This is good shit.
However, I also want to consider ramifications of these works that often re-center the motherhood depicted in the movie from a black woman to a white women. There are a myriad of works that focus on Carol being a mother to Monica. And that’s great. I am just concerned that this will become a undistiputable fanon and that a lot of fics/art/commentary coming out of this ship will ignore the possibilities of exploring Carol’s defined role of aunt and more importantly, Maria’s story of being a single mother.
The most amazing part of Captain Marvel to me was the depiction of a single black mother successfully raising a child. Hollywood often plays into the struggles of single, black motherhood with the fix being either placing the child with a white family (ie The Blind Side) or finding the mother a partner (ie all Madea movies). This is not the reality for millions of single mothers who overcome their hurdles to raise amazing children without relying on outside interventions. Captain Marvel showing how that happens, showing a mother who relies on her best friend and parents, on her own strength and by raising a child full of maturity, without being bogged down with the hardship was really fresh. It was my favorite part. And I would love to read fanworks that explore this image deeper without deferring to Carol as a co-parent because having it occur so often seems ...suggestive. Like there is a need for Carol to insert herself as co-parent in order to fit the picture of a nuclear family.
There is also something to be said about Carol choosing to not be a mother. Not everyone wants to be a parent. Fan works exploring how Carol comes to terms being an aunt, how she delineates her role in order to not bleed into parenthood, are great opportunities to confirm that not everyone wants or needs to be a parent and that women have the agency to make that decision. Furthermore, it would be great to explore how to be in a relationship with a parent without also signing up to be one.
Tl;dr you don’t have to make Maria and Carol co-parents or even partners. Exploring their friendship or relationship sans parenting is just as important as depicting them in a romantic relationship as parents.

☃ - tall/short?
✐ - fave types of movies?
❣ - how would it be your ideal date?
I consider myself short at 5′3″, but I think that’s average? I’m a tiny person.
Favorite types of movies? Interesting and without too many holes. I like to change it up though, like not just watching romcoms. I don’t like anything that relies too heavily on vulgar humor or slapstick. I like situational comedy better. Madea movies aren’t my thing. I like something that’s enjoyable visually and acting-wise, because I can usually see the ending coming so I need something else to tickle me silly.
...you know I never actually thought about my ideal date. Order a pizza and Netflix I guess? I’m a homebody and I don’t like to get dressed up.
Now you gave it to me three times, but these are the kinds of questions I can only really answer once...
