Hello! I'm coming to Fantomstein from the decidedly grave-robbing side of the audience. I love love love Frankenstein. And I'm...pretty neutral on Phantom of the Opera. I have the baseline knowledge required of any theatre kid. And I never saw anything that got me particularly curious about it.
Until I read this!! Holy SHIT, I love this comic. It's visually stunning, it's funny, it's intriguing, and it's so clearly made with a real love for the stories that inspired it. I genuinely aspire to be able to tell stories in the way you have.
And as a certified Frankenstein nerd, I ADORE this portrayal of The Creature. It's so fun to see him some years down the line when the initial rage has kind of died down and now he's just left with this tired cynicism. All the ways he entertains himself and tries to stave off the loneliness are so funny and sad at the same time (the tally marks on the wall especially got me). He's a petty bitch, and he means well, but he's a whole mess, and I love that so much.
(also, I really loved how young Victor looks in the flashback. It really hammers home the tragedy of it all. Cause you hear what he's done and you think he's horrible, he's a monster, who could do that? And then you look at him and you go oh. He's a kid. Chef's kiss, magnifique)
Thank you for making this delightful thing! I'm very excited to follow it from here
Every time a Frankenstein fan finds me and likes what I do, my heart grows several sizes and my lifespan increases. Thank you—I have been hoarding this note in my inbox, cherishing it. I want to eat it (complementary)(affectionate).
#I’m like that kid that got a letter from Maurice Sendak. love so much#compelled to eat#frankenstein

The Captain propaganda:
"he's gay. he's sad. he's pathetic. he's silly goofy. he has autism swag. he's a theatre kid. he has a tragic backstory. he's my poor little meow meow. need i say more"
"autism, bad knees, gay. an old man appreciator's dream. his character development is unparalleled. he's adopted another ghost as his daughter. he likes musicals and birds and bugs and I love him."
"he’s been repressing his love for men to hell and back for the past 100 years but he’s so silly and he’s learning to get better at showing it. also he has a father-daughter-but-they’re-also-best-friends relationship with one of the other ghosts. also he talks to ants and i love him dearly"
"He was a soldier in world war two and still behaves like a drill sergeant in the afterlife, but he mellows out a lot during the show. He's also very gay but repressed considering the time period in which he lived. "
"a homosexual and an excellent friend. has a tragic backstory too"
"He's a WW2 soldier. He's gay and very silly. We have no idea what his name is. He thinks ""pillow talk"" is talking to a pillow. He runs and does stretches to get faster but it's established since he's a ghost he can not in fact get any faster."
"He's dead, he's a repressed homosexual from the '40s, he is oh so unbelievably silly but tries not to be, he says stuff like ""balderdash"" and ""good lord"", he met Kylie Minogue. He has really great character development throughout the show as a result of those around him (his found family!!). No but genuinely, in the beginning of the show he's actually really annoying (affectionate) and insistent that he remains in control of the house and its occupants, as he's 'commanding officer', much to the annoyance of literally everyone else, but even by the end of series 1 he's using his annoying schemes for good (for the good of the other ghosts that is - takes a little longer for it to be good for the actually alive people). He also really mellows out through in series 2 through 4, with him still being kind of annoying in s2, but this really changes in this season, due to a multitude of factors I will not be expanding on (the short of it is he had an argument with another ghost (they made up) and then saw some lesbians get married (woohoo!) and helped organise it to some extent. Skipping talking about him in series 3 even though it's my favourite (have to mention the fact that one of the ghosts who is his pseudo-daughter canonically sees him as her father in her flashbacks to life though). In series 4 his pseudo-daughter helps him to have fun without rigid routine, further demonstrating his development in that he actually lets himself have fun (symbolised here, I think, by him taking off his jacket and looking at bugs all day). He is my favourite character and therefore must win (/j).
(sorry for the slightly incoherent ramble, thanks for reading, excited for the poll!) "
"He thinks he's above the other ghosts' antics (he isn't) and he's autistic about the military but not in a red flag way. He's also gay and lives in a closet made of glass."
"The Captain is an amazing (maybe autistic) WWII Captain who is VERY gay"

okayyyy i guess ill just write abt some things that i wanna get out before i forget to??
- LOVE, love love how they made ennis the one who initiated all of the romantic affection between the two. literally insane over it. it feels so in-character, considering ennis has probably been affection starved since his mother died when he was a kid. of course he has alma, but do we really get the sense that ennis was ever very affectionate with her? could he have been, in rural, christian, wyoming, where conervative notions of courtship prevail? did he even want to be, knowing that the only person he shows real attraction towards is a man? who knows. we just know that he was craving love, and lucas did an amazing job at capturing that need.
- the "'lets ranch up together', 'no bc earl and rich'" conversation happens after ennis tells jack that he'd divorced alma...a year and a half earlier. what an interesting change! it seems like both adaptations, movie and play, mess around with that specific sequence of events. i really enjoyed what it brought to this specific show, though, because in the script it's described as a "gut-punch" to jack when ennis tells him he already left alma in response to jack telling ennis that he'd decided to leave lureen. it really hammers home the idea that jack thought it was just their wives getting in the way of their life together all that time. it was framed wayyy different than jack driving up 14 hrs after getting his hopes up thanks to a phonecall or a postcard from ennis abt the divorce, but it still hits the beat it's supposed to, where we as the audience can see that its the first time their relationship shifts—and not for the better.
- "little darlin'."I got to hear "LITTLE DARLIN'" not just once, but TWICE. still not over it.
- the show also brought more...i guess, explicit attention to the fact that ennis really only wants to do ranch work, and how much that affects his family. i know its present in all the texts, but the new conversations he and alma have regarding the various 'city jobs' she tries to rope him into and the dead-end ranch jobs that keep going belly up from underneath him are just really sad. he's someone who craves wide open spaces, and the beauty of film allowed heath to capture this hunched, clenched, uncomfortable look and feel of a man who seems too big for any room he's in. ennis is not happy in domesticity. he's a saddle bum through and through, and out with nature is where he belongs. but since theatre (esp theatre in-the-round) doesn't have the luxury of different set dressing, those conversations and arguments bw ennis and alma capture that same bit of characterization.
- i...dunno how i feel about mike's jack, if i'm honest? lucas was incredible. i think he brought just the right amount of taciturn and tender, rage and remorse to a role that needs all of that in an actor. i think mike's jack was a little...idk. too big, if you get me? like there were certain line deliveries that i felt could've been said differently, or had different emotions behind them than the ones i was picking up on. i know stage is different, so in both cases, the actors went VERY big (heath's quiet, simmering rage is a completely different beast against lucas' loud, screaming outburtsts, for example), but...idk. there was just something about mike's jack that threw me off? I told my friend that I was iffy about his performance, and without prompt she said, "I didn't like how much he laughed at everything" and I think I feel the same. For example, the "I didn't want none of either kind but fuck all has worked the way i wanted, nothing has ever come to my hand the right way" line was said really jolly, without much of a edge to it, and i think thats what's thrown me off-kilter so much. in mike's performance, i didn't feel the bitter edge to a lot of his lines that occur later on in the script that are apparent to me not only in jake gyllenhaal's performance, but in the SS text, itself.
He was technically very good and I love the silly things he'd do to get ennis to open up, but he was a little too jovial, not enough bitchy, not enough moody and sassy like jake's jack. i see a lot of jake's jack in mike's performance bc aside from a few lines about how much jack likes the rodeo, all we can really glean from either characters in the SS text is that ennis is quiet, and that jack talks a lot. im not trying to compare the two performances too much bc they are fundamentally different actors working in different mediums, but heath and jake brought a lot of dimsension into charas who could have turned out waaaay different had different actors played them and gotten in touch w different emotions within the script, so i can see how other actors could look to the film for a lot of inspo on how to go about portraying ennis and jack while trying to do their own things as well. my issue is that jack becomes very heartsick and bitter and just plain fed up with everything about his life by the time their last trip rolls around, but play!jack never let that bitterness start to show, so by the time that jack does his whole "i wish i knew how to quit you" monologue, it felt very abrupt to see him screaming and yelling and hollering at ennis like that.
i dunno, after seeing tons of ppl in the brokeback tag over the past few months saying that mike faist was their favorite jack, i was actually really expecting a lot more? but as it stands, jake gyllenhaal still reigns supreme. he captured every facet of jack twist that makes him so compelling to read and write and think about and analyze, and mike, while he was still very good, didn't do that nearly as well imho.
- the play firmly cemented to me that jack twist is just bottom coded, i guess
- some of the music hit at different scenes than i had initially thought they would?? i thought the play would end on "hale strew river" playing in the bg as *SPOILER* old!ennis holds the ghost/dream/memory version of young!jack in a mirror of the way he'd held jack by the campfire on brokeback in '63. but that was not the case. this is an instance of where my heightened expectations made the reality seem kind of disappointing in comparison. i'm also kind of sad that my other favorite song, "beneath the moon," was only featured as a diegetic recording heard on a clock radio (NOT live), and it was played during a scene between alma and ennis. Like, looking back at the lyrics it makes sense:
Why don't you take me for a stroll into the sunset
Another lonely summer's day is ending soon
Oh, let us walk another mile into the twilight
And let me be alone with you beneath the moon
But i thought that it was going to be played during a scene where another one of jack's frequent proposals of a life together gets rejected. when the soundtrack for the play was released it gave me the same vibes as "i dont want to say goodbye", one of the few original songs on the movie soundtrack, and i was POSITIVE that this was a jack-longing-for-ennis song. like, it's all about sunsets and twilight and the moon and all this outdoor imagery, and as we all know, jack and ennis are literally only together underneath the sunsets and twillight and moon! so im actually really sad it wasn't an ennis/jack moment :c
- the actor who played jack's dad played the role a lot more emotionally than i expected. movie!john is very, again, muted and quietly bitter, just like all these characters are. play!john seemed really...what i can only describe as choked up? like, he was shouting and got really riled up in his "jack used to say" monologue at ennis, and there was some disgust in there and a lot of anger, but what i actually read was more like him telling ennis "you're part of the reason why my son is gone." and then he gets up and walks away from the table, and exits the stage. it was really really heartbreaking. maybe i have a different read on the performance than what was intended, but it opens up a whole new side to john twist that i think would be interesting to explore.
- theres a few little added lines of dialogue on jack's part that are great. when they leave brokeback and are heading away in opposite directions, jack turns back around and goes "ennus-" as though he's going to make his proposal to start a life together then and there, but ennis knowingly cuts him off and says smth like "see you around, jack twist", and shakes his hand goodbye. there was another moment (the divorce admission, the rich and earl confession scene) where jack is talking about their sweet life together, and hes talking about them being in rocking chairs on their porch in front of a nice fire and ughhghf....it called to mind this line in one of my all-time fave fics, Recompense:
Couldn't set out on the porch, just set, quiet and together; there wasn't any porch, wasn't even any house, where they could be seen setting. Start hauling their canes, their bifocals, damn electric blankets, up in back of the pickup? They couldn't have that life. They couldn't have any life at all. The weight of Jack's misery, pressing all around, seemed enough to cave him in.
one i didnt like, though, was when jack and ennis are wrestling, jack gets pinned under ennis and says "sheep be damned!" before ennis kisses him in the first romantic display of affection we see bw the two. also when the sheep get mixed up, ennis has a meltdown and tells jack that aguirre will realize the counts off and put 2 & 2 together that they're fooling around, and he yells smth along the lines of their trist being "sick", and Jack says smth like, "you sure didn't seem to think it was sick this past month."
this is just a me thing honestly bc i'm kind of a SS purist in some instances, and one thing that always stuck with me is that jack and ennis never talk about the sex they're having when they're on brokeback. aside from the "im not no queer" convo, the sex wasn't even alluded to; they just "let it happen," and i think thats veryyy in-line for a character like ennis. i think jack would love to talk about it, but he doesn't wanna spook ennis away, so he keeps his mouth shut. i dont think either of them would speak, even in a roundabout way, abt their sex life when they're 19 on brokeback, and thats why the whole "redlined it all the way couldnt get here fast enough" line is so revelatory imo, bc its the first time either of them acknowledge the conscious choice theyre making to fuck. so idk. i didnt really care for the fact that they were (somewhat) openly referring to their tryst while still on brokeback
- less a note of the show and more a note of the audience, but i saw the show twice and the first night i saw it, the audience laughed at REALLY sad and serious moments that i in no way thought were laugb worthy, and i felt like maybe i was taking the work too srsly until i saw the final performance and THAT audience didnt laugh at any of those really sad moments. so i got rly irritated abt that the first night cause it wasnt even like the lines were delivered in a jokey way or anythibg....
anyways. i need to sleep. look out for some other posts cause im sure ill have more to say the longer i stew on it

Hi! I would like a Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss match up please.
Looks: dark brown hair and eyes, white skin, 5’2
Personality: shy, sweet, dorky, socially awkward, funny, workaholic, obsessive over certain topics, clingy, anxious, affectionate, gives offtheater kid energy, and I sometimes smart but I can also be really dumb. I am definitely a Hufflepuff.
Hobbies/Interest: drawing, writing (even though I lose motivation easily, listening to music (mostly musical songs), making memes, and creating characters as well as story lines that I probably won’t write
Love Language: all of them for both giving and receiving
Sexuality: heterosexual and asexual
Helllooooo darling ~~!!! thank you for your request!
(Although you said heterosexual; I wasn't sure on your gender so I made them platonic!)
You are paired with...... Charlie Morningstar and Stolas!
Charlie...
Quite literally the same as you.
although she would def try to help you be super outgoing! she introduces you to all her friends constantly.
100% musical theatre nerd. she sings it all day all night. she probably sings them as a lullaby!
super super clingy! she loves to be attached at the hip, until she has to perform her "princess duties"!
Look at this NERD!
He's the same way. musicals all day, every day.
he is such a dork, and would love to nerd out with you!
he also LOVES to read; whatever you write he's probably reading 1 million times over.
he's also pretty clingy! don't fault him though :( he doesn't have anyone to rely on anymore.
he loves affection. He doesn't receive it much, so he's super grateful whenever he receives it!

So I've been having random thoughts and ideas (as one normally does, except most of those get scrapped 5 minutes later), and I think I finally found a concept that I can share here.
Now hear me out: A YGO college AU, but with a twist. It's a funny little game club- however, instead of starring the protagonists...
...it's all about the main antagonists.
History major Bakura, who founded the club just to play Capsule Monsters, and ended up with a group of weirdos after several Duels and DnD campaigns and nights of wailing about assignment deadlines. His sharp and creepy demeanor tends to be offputting, but it belies a lonely nerd who only knows how to communicate his feelings through a round of games.
Goth guitarist Yubel, the one nobody knows anything about other than their banger heavy metal music and penchant for weird humor. Rumor has it they've been held back for several years now, but given their oddly low profile, nobody can say anything for sure. Pretty chill player for the most part... but lord help you if you destroy anything on their field by card effect in a Duel.
Engineering alumnus Z-ONE, who has never ever said his real name in the club, and acts very much like a grandpa despite only being 29 (which earned him the affectionate title of Peepaw). You'd think someone of his occupation would be well-studied in their interests and hobbies, but the poor man loses 8/10 Duels simply because he refuses to change his Deck out of sentimentality. Power of promises made to late friends, or something like that.
Security officer Don Thousand, real name Adonis, father of seven and saltier than the dead sea can ever be. This man holds so much spite it's actually impressive, and his only proper vent for it is playing card games with weird teens when his shift ends. He tends to wear a perpetual scowl when out and about -that would explain his generally unapproachable vibe- and yet, for some inexplicable reason, he seems to be a lot less gloomy when it's time to visit the club. Quite curious, indeed.
Fine arts major Zarc, the one theatre kid of all time. Don't let the sweet smile fool you; the guy has an uncanny affinity for villain impressions, and he puts it to good use in all games- with a dash of dramatic flair, of course. That said, this is the same kid who goes all sparkly-eyed if one mentions even a peep of card lore in his vicinity, and melts into an excited little puddle whenever a new set or lore book is released. Thus is the duality of the Supreme King, apparently.
Computer science major Ai, the shiny new freshman on the block, who works at the college cafeteria and already has a (secret) fan club. His natural charisma is just about enough to cover for his crippling lack of social intelligence, and so it comes as a surprise to most that he's a huge tabletop game nerd, despite not looking the part one bit. Please don't tell him that Master Rule 4 was a mistake, though. He literally Will Not Shut Up until he proves you squarely wrong.
#this au really just possessed me into writing it out of literally nowhere#at this rate i might actually write a oneshot or make a group chat in its setting#first time for everything i guess#i blame a terminal case of crossover friendship agendas for this one#yugioh#yugioh au#yami bakura#yubel#z one (5ds)#don thousand#zarc (arc v)#ai (vrains)#pink's silly aus#crossover bullshit go!

Ello!
I would love to respond to your answer of my ask but I don’t know anything about who your characters are or what they look like… would be able to explain a bit? It’s fine if not!
Hello! Absolutely! Thank you for asking. I'm so excited you want to respond to that :D
I don't make art myself, but a friend of mine drew a doodle of Uncle Mike and his nibbles (nephews) here! I also have a general tag for the art people have made which includes a little more of the kids.
---
My characters sitting out by the fire are:
Mike - a 27-year-old 2k3 Michelangelo. His mask goes over his head rather than across his eyes, and at the camp he is currently wearing blue beads in his mask, his mask tails are dyed red, and he is wearing purple nail polish. He has lost his left arm up past the elbow.
He's goofy and determined to be the fun uncle. Chatty, likes pop culture references. Pretty much always grinning. He doesn't like being the responsible one, but if he's the only adult in the room, he will be. Currently trying to set a good example for his nephews.
For actual refs for your mental theatre, here's a pic of him at 15, next to a (future) pic of him at 45 (...kind of, it's complicated.). He's a little more than 1/3 of the way to the future pic.
Then there are his nephews (his brother Don is sort of an adoptive parent to them.) They are the Rise turtles, only a couple of weeks mutated. Mike calls them his 'nibbles' affectionately because they are his 'nephews/niblings' and tiny, 'the perfect size for a little nibble'.
El (Raphael) - Roughly mentally two. Not ready to talk yet, but knows some baby sign - "Yes," "No," "Drink," "Eat," "I love you," and signs they've picked for each of his brothers, to start. Can identify colors and follow simple instructions. The only sounds he currently makes are turtle noises and a little huffing sort of laugh. A total and utter sweetheart. (But he can and will throw an incredible tantrum in the right situation.)
Lee (Leonardo) - One-ish, still very small. Very mobile, likes to crawl/climb on everything, chirps a lot. Likes stimulation! Noise, motion, interaction.
Dee (Donatello) - One-ish, same size as Lee. Does not like to be touched without a lot of warning. Doesn't like loud noises, weird smells, wrong textures... Will let you know if he's not happy by hissing, or worse, biting, and stubborn enough not to let go for a long time. Tends to stare at stuff pretty intently when he's curious or focused on learning.
Angie (Michelangelo) - Tiny baby. Spends most of his time sleeping, staring up at things, occasionally patting someone to comfort them... he likes watching the fire.
---
For thoroughness's sake, the kids and Mike first meet in this fic here, but I do not expect you to read any of that! The info up top should be more than enough. Please let me know if you have questions, though :D

okay so awhile ago @zukkaoru and i made a nerdy prudes must die au for bsd and we kind of went off with it and the soundtrack is stuck in my head so look at who would be who (explanations under the cut):
kunikida - grace chasity
yosano - steph lauter
dazai - pete spankoffski
ranpo - richie lipschitz
poe - ruth fleming
chuuya - max jägerman
fukuchi - wiggly
bram - nibbly
sigma - blinky
fyodor - tinky
nikolai - pokey
gin - kyle
tachihara - jason
jouno - detective shapiro
tecchou - officer bailey
mori - mayor lauter
elise - miss tessburger
cheerleaders - higuchi (brenda), naomi (stacy), kajii (brooke)
kyouka - reese
jun’ichiro - joey's bbq monologue guy
atsushi - bbq jon/trevor
kenji - bbq angela
akutagawa - bbq mariah/caitlyn
mushitaro - corey dorris' cop (f-ing transcendent cop)
mark - dan reynolds
john - donna
hirotsu - miss mulberry
nathaniel - boy jerry
guy koyou tried running away with - mark chasity
koyou - karen chasity
margaret - bryce’s reporter
louisa - paul
lucy - emma
kunikida as grace bc he has all his ideals and he's just so... idk how to describe it in a way that doesn't sound mean bc i mean it so affectionately but he has the vibes of slowly losing his beans. also... just PICTURE him singing "dirty girl" YOOOOO and like if you ship kunichuu, then it's also kunikida freaking out bc he's thinking romantically about someone from the mafia. also he deserves to go wild <3
yosano as steph bc Vibes <333 dazai as pete (and this is not shipping yosano and dazai... they're just friends in this) bc he's smart and would 100% get all caught up in something like this also bc we're making chuuya max so like they're rivalry tehe. now i know you could argue that atsushi should be pete and akutagawa should be steph... but this stemmed from kunichuuzai, sooooo. dazai could also be steph, but we thought that yosano fit steph better than pete
ranpo as richie bc there was literally no good place for ranpo. he's too smart. but richie is also smart and it'd just be silly. maybe now ranpo can live (for a lil bit oops) the childhood he never had...
poe as ruth bc he would KILL "just for once" look me in the face and tell me i'm wrong
chuuya as max bc gravity powers and dead!max's powers are similar, chuuya has the anger issues to be max, plus he and kunikida would get to sing "dirty girl" together. i also feel like "literal monster" could be a song in reference to chuuya and i feel like (in a kind of self-deprecating way), chuuya would sing that about himself
we made the decay of angels the lords in black bc it FIT!!! fukuchi as wiggly bc leader, bram as nibby bc... vampire... mouth..., sigma as blinky bc they've got eyes on the casino and know everything about all the staff and customers and such, fyodor as tinky bc tinky is prolly the most sadistic one, and nikolai as pokey bc nikolai is most likely to cause a musical apocalypse
gin as kyle and tachihara as jason is just so silly~ and hirotsu as miss mulberry bc he's trying his best to wrangle a bunch of depressed teenagers all the time. higuchi, naomi, and kajii are the cheerleaders (we invented a third one specifically for kajii) bc we think they'd be good cheerleaders lol
jouno as shapiro bc VIBES and wants to uphold the law and tecchou as bailey would just be SO FUNNY and they would just annoy each other soooooo much! we made mushitaro corey dorris' cop bc it would be funny
mori as the mayor is great bc yosano is steph... and that's just depressing ya know? and then elise as tessburger for obvious reasons
we just thought mark and john would be a funny dan and donna tbh. margaret as bryce's reporter specifically so she can blame nathaniel hawthorne. nathaniel as boy jerry bc ViRgiNiTy RoCkS
jun'ichiro as joey's bbq guy bc let's be real... jun'ichiro is an AMAZING actor. kenji HAD to be in th ebbq monologues bc cows. then akutagawa is a theatre kid i know this he told me personally (or he would be if he wasn't in the mafia and had a family and went to school). atsushi is kind of there just so we can hear him say, "my barbecue" the way jon does lol
#hi grace sorry for posting this i started having feelings and we went off with this tbh#feeling s#bsd#npmd#ada#tehe#i would. i want to see kunikida and chuuya sing dirty girl.#ngl i think the best part of this is the lords in black#we did a GREAT job there#okayyyyy that was enough procrastinating :/ grades are due tomorrow at 9am and i have sixty things left to gradeeee

Senses and other Specifics:
WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE SMELL LIKE? Lavender and cedar! He doesn't wear cologne or perfume, but he likes scented soaps.
WHAT DO YOUR MUSE’S HANDS FEEL LIKE? His hands tend to be slightly warm, but on the drier side, thanks to LA's climate.
WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE USUALLY EAT IN A DAY? Not enough, lol. It depends on how many spoons he can allocate to cooking and eating, though unfortunately there's relatively little variation because of his allergies. He knows what's safe, and does not often vary from that. Breakfast specifically depends on spoon allocation; on his worst days it's nothing; when he has very few spoons, it's just a London fog latte. When he's well rested and has the energy to spare for it, he likes to make omelettes and scrambles. Lunch depends on how busy his schedule is, and if he remembers to eat. He likes noodle soups, but it has to be rice, soba, or other types of gluten free starches. He eats a lot of rice and gluten free pastas because they're easy to cook. Gnocchi is also a favorite. When he has energy, he likes international food, and particularly mexican, Thai, and Indian. He likes spice, even though his tolerance for it is pretty low. He also typically has a number of frozen meals and canned soups on hand for dinner because he usually does not have much energy left if/when he gets home. Ironically, though he forgets to eat, he is VERY hydrated... specifically, he's almost always seen with a mug of hot tea. (Would have a fun time with Uncle Iroh if he ever got thrown into the ATLA universe).
DOES YOUR MUSE HAVE A GOOD SINGING VOICE? Yes. He picked up singing in high school because the theatre club was doing a musical, and then he particularly got into musical theatre in college. His favorite musical is Les Mis and he knows all of Javert's and Jean Valjean's parts by memory. (He definitely does not feel some sort of connection to javert and this has absolutely nothing to do with how he views himself. And no, he absolutely does note see any similarities between himself and Valjean what are you talking about.)
DOES YOUR MUSE HAVE ANY BAD HABITS OR NERVOUS TICKS? He tends to excessively clean/polish his glasses when he's nervous, made sure he lost or never developed bad habits as a kid. If we're calling drug abuse a bad habit, he did have that in college for a short while, though.
WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE USUALLY LOOK LIKE / WEAR? On the more formal side of business casual or the more casual side of business formal when he's at work, the latter particularly for board meetings. When he's not, it's usually jeans and either a t-shirts, casual button down shirts, or turtleneck sweaters in the winter.
IS YOUR MUSE AFFECTIONATE? When he trusts someone, yes. He particularly likes to hug and cuddle. One of his other love languages is knitting/crocheting blankets for the people he cares about, but do not under any circumstances ask if he made it or suggest that he did.
WHAT POSITION DOES YOUR MUSE SLEEP IN? Slumped over his desk with his keyboard as a pillow, to wake up having accidentally written a few thousand lines of gibberish code, more often than not. Or in the universe he exists in with @evecolourshock, in a tangle of limbs with his siblings. When he does actually manage to make it to bed, it's either curled up in a ball as small as he can or on his stomach with his arms crossed over (under?) his chest, face turned to the side.
COULD YOU HEAR YOUR MUSE IN THE HALLWAY FROM ANOTHER ROOM? In theory, if he wanted to. His father demanded that he was always quiet when he was little, so being loud makes him anxious. Theatre helped him learn to project his voice, though there are only a few specific spaces where he's comfortable doing so.
Taking up @the-expatriate's invitation to do this one.
Tagging: @starstruckxstray (tagging you only once so I don't bombard your notes, but for Kero and/or Shikoba, whoever you'd like respond for), @evecolourshock, @occupationallyhazardous (for any of your muses from any of your blogs), @iamnoprogram, @computerwarrior, @enforcerrinzler, and @riinzler, if you'd like. As always, no pressure if you don't want to for any reason. Also "tagging" anyone who sees this and would like to do it. Feel free to tag me in your muse's results in a separate post. Please don't reblog this one from me, thanks!

Queer oc asks! Rae and Robin because how could I not choose the X-Men ocs 🏳️🌈
3. How did your oc discover themself? Did something cause them to question, or did they always know?
7. Is there something that could cause your oc to question their identity? What?
- question for the writer
16. Did you ever change an oc's identity when they were already established? Why?
Thank you so much bestie!!
Pride Themed OC Ask Game
3. How did your oc discover themself? Did something cause them to question, or did they always know?
Rae: I wouldn't say she's had a full discovery or realization, she's just kind of aware that it's simmering in the back of her mind. She realized in her mid-teens that she would get the same crushes on boys as she did girls, and that it probably meant she was bi, though she never really acted on the crushes she had on women throughout her life.
Ironically, I feel like it's once she's comfortable with Warren that she's actually able to talk about those feelings and work through them a little more, since she feels safe talking to him (and was worried telling her sisters would mean rumors would get spread through her family, so she kept it to herself at first).
Robin: She realized it pretty late - she'd had crushes on both her male and female castmates in theatre for years, and she thought that was just what everyone experienced. Theatre kids are affectionate! She was used to greeting her friends with hugs and kisses, platonic cuddles in between shows, aggrandized compliments about how hot everyone looks in their costumes... she just thought it was part of theatre culture. Finally she remarked on it to one of her non-theatre friends, and she was like "Yeah... I don't find women attractive dude, I think you're just bi"
(For the record, they're both absolutely bi4bi relationships, even if they're not 100% aware of it at first)
7. Is there something that could cause your oc to question their identity? What?
Rae: No, because as I said before it's more of a background sort of awareness for her. She realized she was attracted to men and women, went "huh, I must be bi", and that was pretty much the end of that. She's pretty secure in herself.
Robin: Settling down with Peter has given her a few brief flashes of insecurity towards her bisexuality - it's a straight-passing relationship, she's marrying a man, and it's made her a little uncertain at times. But she's worked through it: she loves Peter to no end, she loves the family they have, but that doesn't mean she can't come home from the operahouse and say "man, Diana looked amazing in her dress today, you should have seen her"
16. Did you ever change an oc's identity when they were already established? Why?
Not after I've begun publishing their fics, since at that point I'm pretty tuned-in to who they are as a character, but I've definitely made some edits in between getting the initial idea and putting it down on the page. Sometimes it's to include a little more diversity, sometimes it's because a character's story would be better told with a certain queer element behind it, sometimes it's because the original OC idea felt flat or boring and needed an overall revamp, or sometimes it's just for fun.
The very first idea for Jasper began with them as a cis woman, but their story works so much better with them being genderfluid, since it adds a lot more depth and dimension to their backstory and their relationship with Kyle.
Originally Nikoletta wasn't meant to be on the aroace spectrum, but it adds a lot more to her relationship with Abner to be able to say "this relationship isn't purely romantic, neither is it purely platonic, they're just two people who want to be close to one another"
There are others since the characters go through a lot of editing before I'm ready to start laying down their stories, but those are just two examples.

Qamar Kent 🎻
Character collage #4, the resident pretty boy, every group needs one (not really but it can't hurt). Qamar, like Fitz, has been a long-recurring character in my stories and has such gone through many iterations, though his roles have stayed pretty consistent in each setting. Charismatic, amicable (if a little taunting... or a lot), the well-to-do socialite in a group of otherwise awkward, introverted, or tunnel-visioned specialists. I love love LOVE writing characters whose upbringing have made them both 'useless' and essential; Qamar may not be a genius like Valerie or... well, employed like the other four, but he's the only one with the grace, guile, and exploitably good looks to get them into the metaphorical VIP lounges of the narrative. And for that, I adore him. (I also just love characters whose philosophy is "If I can't be useful, I'll be entertaining.")
Like many writers and gay people and gay writers, I have an obsession with Greek mythology (all mythology, but I was a victim of the shiny Greek Myths book first and foremost). I hope for Wayfarers to be a love letter to the Odyssey, my favorite epic, and that's resulted in some general musings and comparisons of each character to gods, mostly for my own enjoyment. For Qamar, this has been particularly interesting, especially as far as he impacts the Wayfarers plot. While I would consider many of my past versions of him to be Aphroditic (is that a word? It is now) - charming, affectionate, a heavy emphasis on knowing how to use his looks - his character as it exists now is much more Dionysian, and I find that SO intriguing. If you're not a Greek myth fan, Dionysus is a fabulously interesting god in that he bridges the gap between mortal and divine, a full god born to a mortal mother. While I must acknowledge my personal favorite god, Janus (beginnings and ends, past and future, the doorways between, etc), Dionysus is another prime god of duality - ecstasy and madness, joy and rage, poetry and philosophy and blind, drunk ramblings (and later as a patron of the arts, especially theatre, so add tragedy and comedy to that list if you'd like).
Something I've struggled with when writing Qamar in the past is that he was simply too soft. I love soft characters! Especially male characters - men who feel, express, care openly, and Qamar still does those things! He is deeply and irrevocably a hopeless romantic! But with this in mind - the Dionysian aspect - I am easily more compelled as to why Lolha would ever allow him to come with on the hunt. I mean, why go through the trouble of hiring a bodyguard, allocating the resources, and adding another liability to keep track of on such a high-risk journey if all you really need is the journal he's got? Why not keep him home, safe, to keep funding your travels from his cushy family manor?
Because he's convincing. Because he comes to you and despite the stifled, painted grief in his request, you see resolve. A ritzy, charming rich kid who barely tolerates dirt from his garden has decided that this - the journal, the hunt, his sister - is important enough to pursue, and you know his word is good. His word is useful.
I love Qamar. Big fan of him. And Dionysus. Some songs for resident pretty boy partier:
Each Time - Tamino (this one gets number one because I have spent YEARS trying to find a voice/style that fit the one for Qamar that's in my head and Tamino is perfectttt)
Why Must We Tell Them Why - 35mm: A Musical Exhibition
Love Me More - Mitski
Theatre - Etta Marcus
Pink Pony Club - Chappell Roan

Moulin Rouge Discotrain AU (part seventeen)
Summary: (Post-game canon) The Conductor and DJ Grooves agree to finally work on a movie together. They come up with 'Moulin Rouge', a musical drama filled with romance. Over time the two directors grow closer and discover that maybe they don't hate each other as much.
Beginning | Previous | Next
Word count: 791
Warnings: None
Author's notes: Me? Push my own musical tastes onto characters? Noooo, never. ( < absolutely, always). ANYWAY- I skipped ahead and wrote one of the final chapters which is why this wasn't up until now. But here!
"Yer the one who said you wanted to see the Express," Conductor pointed out with a grin as the two of them walked up to the train. "I think this is the perfect time!"
The owl fiddled with the keys to the door on the back cart while the penguin stood by.
"Connie, are you sure this is a good idea?" Grooves inquired. "We're behind schedule as it is and I honestly feel like this isn't the best choice we could be making right now."
Conductor winced and looked over at him."I know, I'm sorry, you don't have to come with me," Conductor said. "I- I'm still going to go. But you can go back if you want."
Grooves frowned and shook his head.
"We wouldn't be able to film much with only one lead anyway," Grooves reasoned, stepping up onto the back of the train.
Conductor shot him a smile before trying the door. It didn't budge.
"Grooves."
"Yes?"
"Move out o' the way," Conductor instructed, keeping his grip tight on the handle as he turned sideways.
"What are you going to do?" Grooves asked.
Conductor rammed his body against the door, a stab of pain lacing through his shoulder as he barreled it into the wood.
The door swung open and he stumbled inside slightly before moving to keep it open for his companion.
"I was openin' the door." Conductor grinned, trying to ignore the pain.
Grooves snickered slightly as he walked in and Conductor closed the door behind him.
The yellow bird clutched at his shoulder with one hand, flicking on the Owl Express' lights with the other hand.
"How ever did you afford this train?" Grooves gasped, trailing one flipper across the woodwork on the walls of the carriage.
"I saved up a lot as a child," Conductor explained, leading the way through the train. "I worked a lot of part time jobs and after my movies made better money I finally bought her off an old family friend."
"How long have you had her?"
"Since around the time my ninth movie came out. One of the last movies before they turned into train heists," Conductor continued, entering the carriage just before the front. "The Express is spacious enough there's plenty of places for filming and just being in. I love this train."
Conductor pushed open the door to the front carriage.
Dashboards let out beeps and buzzes as Conductor brought the train to life, starting up the engine.
"Evening to you too darling," Conductor greeted the train, affectionately rubbing a hand across the nearest dashboard.
"Ready for another trip?"
Grooves chuckled as he walked up to stand beside the Conductor.
"Where are we headed?"
"Home. I want to go home," Conductor admitted.
Grooves let out a long exhale as the train slowly pulled into action. Then he reached over and gently poked at Conductor's shoulder.
The owl let out a whimper of protest, shuffling away from the penguin.
"Darling, you're hurt. Can't I just take a look?" Grooves questioned.
"No. It's fine, I'll just make a sling to wear for a couple days," Conductor protested, hand moving back to shield the arm in question. "Let's go grab a seat."
The two birds walked back into the previous carriage, sitting across from one another in one of the many booths.
"So, what made you hate musicals so bad?" Grooves asked.
"I told you. Theatre club when I was a kid."
"But which musical specifically?"
"Honestly? It was Hamilton. We did it once every three years and I got sick of it," Conductor answered.
"And your favourite?"
"Phantom of the Opera. I pecking loved it when I was younger. I got cast as the Phantom and it was probably one of the best things that ever happened to me," Conductor admitted, grinning at the memory of his first time acting in a show of Phantom of the Opera.
"I do like that one. But I'll be honest, I prefer Newsies," Grooves replied.
"I didn't take you for a Newsies penguin."
"What can I say, I like the message of it."
"About the injustice of corporate greed and the tension evident between different classes of society? Or the fact that camaraderie and not backing down in the face of adversity means that even the most unfair things can tip towards your favour?"
"I like the romance between Jack and Katherine. And the songs. But the messages are important too," Grooves said. "How long until we get to your home?"
Conductor froze.
His home.
It had been once, he guessed.
But he didn't feel that welcome there anymore.
He knew realistically he'd be allowed home.
It's just what he might have to face that worried him.
"Couple o' days."

I’ve created another digital artwork, and this time, I couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out. Once again, I chose to feature my beloved original characters, Arlon and Liliana. These two have become more than just drawings to me—they’ve grown into the embodiment of my ideal romantic love. Every time I draw them, I aim to capture not only their outward beauty but also the essence of their bond, a connection that feels timeless, pure, and deeply affectionate.
This particular artwork portrays Arlon and Liliana as children once again, during their later childhood years. This time, they’re cosplaying as Peter Pan and Wendy Darling, characters whose story resonates with themes of adventure, wonder, and a touch of innocent romance. Arlon, with his spirited charm and adventurous personality, makes a perfect Peter Pan. His costume in my artwork draws inspiration from the 1991 Peter Pan comics—a vibrant, leafy ensemble that looks like it was plucked straight out of Neverland.
His green shorts are made of overlapping leaves, giving them a natural, whimsical look, and a thin brown belt at his waist holds a small wooden dagger. Barefoot as always, Arlon’s feet are slightly dirtied, as if he’s just returned from flying over grassy fields and muddy streams. His tousled dark brown hair, wild and free, perfectly complements his golden eyes, which sparkle with mischief and a hint of magic. His wide, playful smile, combined with his lively pose—mid-jump with his arms spread out—makes him seem as if he’s about to take off into the sky.
Liliana, on the other hand, is the picture of grace and elegance, even in her simplicity. She’s dressed in what appears to be a delicate white nightgown, reminiscent of Wendy’s iconic attire in the original Peter Pan story. The gown is made of soft, flowing fabric, its ruffled hem and thin straps adding a touch of charm. Her long, wavy brown hair cascades down her back, framing her heart-shaped face. Her bright blue eyes, wide and full of wonder, seem to reflect the magic of Neverland itself. Her expression—a mix of joy and curiosity—captures Wendy’s role as both a storyteller and a dreamer. She stands on tiptoes, her bare feet slightly angled as though she’s ready to twirl or take Arlon’s hand and follow him to the stars.
What makes this artwork special, however, isn’t just their costumes or poses. It’s the setting and the energy it conveys. Behind them stretches a magical landscape—a lush meadow bathed in sunlight, with vibrant green grass that seems almost too perfect to be real. In the distance, a cascade of waterfalls tumbles into sparkling pools, surrounded by colourful trees and blooming flowers. The sky above is a brilliant blue, dotted with fluffy white clouds, completing the ethereal feel of the scene. It’s not just a backdrop; it’s a world—a little piece of Neverland brought to life.
Arlon and Liliana’s relationship in this artwork mirrors the spirit of Peter Pan and Wendy, but with a unique twist that’s entirely their own. They’re not just two kids playing dress-up; they’re actors, prodigious talents in their community who excel both academically and artistically. Arlon and Liliana aren’t just your average straight-A students—they’re prodigies, the kind of children who seem to shine in everything they do. Their intelligence and creativity set them apart, but it’s their charm and beauty that make them stand out even more.
Their academic excellence is matched only by their theatrical brilliance. In their small but vibrant community, they’ve become stars of the local theatre, always chosen to play the main characters in performances. Whether it’s a ballet, a musical, or a classic play, their presence on stage is magnetic. It’s not just their talent that draws people in—it’s the way they embody their roles with a natural grace and authenticity. Arlon, with his boyish energy and boundless imagination, has a knack for bringing adventurous characters to life. Liliana, on the other hand, exudes a poise and emotional depth that makes her perfect for roles that require both strength and vulnerability.
The musical production of Peter Pan was no exception. When the community theatre announced their plans to stage it, everyone knew Arlon and Liliana were the obvious choices for the lead roles. The rehearsals were intense, but for them, it was pure joy. Arlon loved practising his “flying” scenes, leaping off props and swinging on makeshift vines, while Liliana took great care in perfecting Wendy’s heartfelt monologues. Together, they brought a chemistry to the stage that left audiences spellbound.
I'm imagining their performance on opening night. The theatre was packed, the air buzzing with excitement. When the curtains rose and the spotlight fell on Arlon and Liliana, it was as if the world outside ceased to exist. Arlon, as Peter Pan, was a whirlwind of energy, darting across the stage with an infectious smile that made you believe in fairies and flying ships. Liliana, as Wendy, brought a tender warmth to her role, her voice like a lullaby as she spoke of dreams and adventures. Their duet during the “You Can Fly” number brought tears to my eyes—it was a perfect blend of childlike wonder and the bittersweet realisation that adventures, no matter how magical, must eventually come to an end.
But it wasn’t just their performance that captivated me; it was the way they supported each other throughout the production. Arlon, ever the protective and caring friend, would encourage Liliana whenever she doubted herself. “You’re the best Wendy there ever was,” he’d say with that mischievous grin of his. And Liliana, with her nurturing nature, would remind Arlon to pace himself and not overexert during rehearsals. “Even Peter Pan needs to rest sometimes,” she’d tease, earning a laugh from him every time.
Their friendship offstage mirrored the magic they created onstage. They weren’t just co-stars; they were kindred spirits, two halves of a whole. They had a bond that seemed unbreakable, forged through shared experiences and an unspoken understanding of each other’s hearts. Watching them interact, whether they were rehearsing lines, sharing a laugh, or simply sitting in comfortable silence, was like witnessing a rare and beautiful dance—one that needed no music or audience to be complete.
After the success of the musical, I couldn’t resist immortalising their roles as Peter Pan and Wendy in my artwork. I wanted to capture not just their physical appearances but the essence of who they were in that moment—two extraordinary kids playing extraordinary characters, yet remaining true to themselves. I poured my heart into every detail, from the texture of Arlon’s leafy tunic to the soft folds of Liliana’s gown, from the sparkle in their eyes to the playful energy in their poses.
Creating this artwork felt like stepping into Neverland myself. As I painted the vibrant colours of the meadow and the cascading waterfalls, I imagined the stories Arlon and Liliana might tell if they were truly in that magical place. Would Arlon, like Peter, declare that he’d never grow up? Would Liliana, like Wendy, gently remind him that growing up doesn’t mean losing the ability to dream? These thoughts filled me with a sense of wonder and nostalgia, reminding me of the magic that exists in childhood and the friendships that shape us.
Now, as I look at the finished piece, I can’t help but smile. It’s more than just a digital painting—it’s a celebration of Arlon and Liliana, their creativity, their bond, and the joy they bring to those around them. It’s a reminder that even in a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, there’s still room for beauty, imagination, and love. It serves as a testament to the power of friendship and the importance of holding onto our dreams as we navigate through the complexities of adulthood. The painting captures a moment of innocence and joy that resonates with anyone who has ever cherished a childhood friendship.
As I share this artwork with others, I hope it inspires them to see the magic in their own lives—the friendships that uplift them, the dreams that keep them moving forward, and the moments of joy that make everything worthwhile. Arlon and Liliana may be fictional, but the love and connection they represent are very real. And as long as I continue to create, their story will live on, a testament to the power of art to capture the essence of the human spirit.

so sorry i've been forgetting to send you my asks bbg
could you do eddie munson or billy hargrove as a dad?
📯
eddie as a dad coming right up tbh

the recital :: e. munson

mother!reader x eddie munson
summary :: who knew the freak was so good with kids?
warnings :: children, school, crowds, use of y/n, use of mom, mommy, momma, daddy and dad, school theatre, mentions of babies, vulgar language, loud crowds, she/her y/n

everyone filed into the auditorium loudly. parents, babies, friends and teachers were jammed into their seats. y/n and eddie were sat in one of the middle rows, more off to the edge.
“when did it say it started?” eddie looks at the pamphlet for what seemed like the 100th time that evening. “about five minutes to, honey, dont worry.”
the couple sat in silence for a second, looking around the room as more people filled into their row. “i hope you’re excited. i’m excited. y/n, are you excited?” she flipped her head over to her left to see a steve harrington, still in his button-up from work. did he fucking speed to get over here?
“d’you think he’s excited?” another head popped out. robin. gosh, she looks good. her hair is slightly curled and put in a ponytail, a ribbon to hold it in place. vicky must’ve forced her. or nancy.
“hey, robi, how’s it goin?” eddie leans forward to see her. “pretty good, pretty good. excited to see some kids as per usual.” she joked sarcaatically, but obviously the couple in the row ahead didn’t appreciate it, because they grimaced at her. “m- no- i’m a babysitt-“
the lights dimmed as everyone settled down, robin huffing because her point wasn’t clear yet.
the red curtains opened, revealing a small set, probably made by the children (LMFOA). there was a tower to the left and a tree just below, a well in the centre and an apple tree to the far right.
a small girl dressed as a farmer ran out to the well. “is that love? love’s in this?” steve questioned to the couple. “steve, why do you think we’re here?”
love, more affectionately known as lovely, was eddie and y/n’s daughter. infact, she’d just turned six a week ago!
“well well well, what do we have here? what’re you doin on this side of the green, gerald? thought you were banned from this side.”
another farmer, dressed in blue, came onto the stage, smirking. “yeah, donny, but you’ve stolen something from me. and i want it back.”
both the children were speaking in thick, country accents, making the whole ordeal funnier than it really was.
“is that so, gerald?” gerald nods. “well, you’re gonna have to leave. or you’ll be leavin’ this side o’ town with something different from what you want.”
gerald’s eyes widened. “you dare threaten me? my pappy will haunt you, how dare you threaten me?!”
this’ll be a long play.

after the play was finished, the friends waited in the lobby for love. steve had a bouquet of flowers he didn’t have at the start of the show and robin had a look on her face she didn’t have at the start of the show, either.
“-oh, and the cow? i didn’t think they’d be fighting over a cow!” steve exclaimed, robins frown reaching furthermore into the ground.
the four heard little footsteps behind them, robin’s face contorting into a neutral, smiley face as they turn to look at the kid.
“daddy!” love exclaimed at eddie, running to her dad as she jumped into his arms, eddie picking her off the ground and kissing all over her face. “hey, bug! you did so good! oh, we’re so proud of you, lovely.” he smiled at his daughter, the carbon copy of eddie.
she had eddie’s dark curls and his brown eyes. when she was born, everyone said she looked like him, but eddie grimaced. of course, he loves his daughter and would die for her, but in that moment in time, she “looked like a piece of chewed-up wood,” according to eddie.
“did’ja see me, daddy? di’ja?!” she squirmed around in his arms. “yes, bug! you were amazing!”
y/n walks over to her family, cupping her daughters face and kissing it all around. “awesome job, my love, you were amazing!” she looked up at her husband, who was still holding the child, and smiled at him with a small glimmer in her eyes. eddie’s heart skipped a beat.
see, its hard for eddie to find someone who treats him normally, but luckily he scored y/n, who treats him like a human, and hes so glad he did.
so yeah, she may treat her husband like a normal human being, bare minimum. but the way she looks at him?
like he’s the only human on earth.

in case you're open to Eddie Munsons requests 👉👈 maybe Reader and Eddie are drinking/smoking together and Eddie finds out that R becomes super affectionate when high/drunk? and Eddie just being super amused by it. no pressure tho :3
Thank you for the request, I loved it!! This is the first I decided to fill in, so it's my first time writing for Eddie. I hope you'll like it anon!
Eddie Munson x male!reader (drinking/smoking together - fluff)
You can read it on Ao3 here.
1.7k words - 3rd person - reader uses he/him pronouns - set before the events of season 4
“Hey, you’re still coming tonight, right?”
Y/n never promised that he would be there, but with Eddie looking expectantly at him like this... there was no way he could say no to these pleading, soft brown eyes. Besides, he was a little excited to enjoy an evening with Eddie and his friends. They had only started to hang around together a few weeks ago; Eddie had approached him during lunch break and asked if he wanted to help him set up a DnD campaign. Y/n had been a little reluctant, but he soon found out that Eddie could be very persuasive. That, and the guy just kept rubbing him the right way, shooting compliments about his art and writing (that he had noticed during their classes together and extra scholar projects displayed around school through the years). Eddie sounded so excited at the idea of sharing a hobby, and y/n desperately needed this kind of friend, so he accepted. They had been spending time together developing ideas for the campaign ever since then, but they hadn’t had any occasion to just chill together outside school yet.
“Yeah, count me in. I'll bring a six-pack.”
Eddie pumped his fists in victory, a broad smile plastered on his face.
“Awesome! Jeff and Gareth can’t wait to meet you.” His attitude changed to serious in a matter of seconds. “Just remember, no matter how hard they push, don’t drop any info on the campaign. It is crucial.”
His interlocutor nodded.
“Roger that. My lips are sealed.”
This earned him another smile from Eddie, along with a pat on the shoulder.
“Great. See you tonight then.” With that, he bowed before leaving towards his car, a grin on his face.
***
The night was going well. Just as Eddie expected, his playmates had jumped on the occasion to try and get information from y/n as soon as he had arrived. The latter had held his ground through the evening better than expected, and the two nerds had stopped trying to get him to spill the beans hours ago now.
Gareth had claimed the armchair to the left as soon as he had entered the trailer in the early evening, Y/n was currently sitting on the floor with his back resting against the empty side of the couch and Jeff was comfortably seated on the far-right end of it. They were discussing the upcoming Aliens movie; all were hoping to be able to watch it in the theatre. Maybe they would go together. Eddie had just left his spot on the sofa to fetch them another tape to play, they had all agreed to change to something calm after they finished the last Black Sabbath album. They had already drunk their way through two six-packs, shared a couple of joints, and they were all getting a little drowsy.
Some chill classic rock tunes started playing from Eddie’s room, and when he came back to the living room, the conversation between his friends was still ongoing.
“Actually, I think the Xenomorph is even more fuckable than Ripley. She’s hot and badass, don’t get me wrong, but have you seen this thing? Made me all flustered every time it came on screen in the first movie.” Y/n slurred, doing his best not to laugh at his own thoughts.
“Wow dude, that’s gross.” replied Jeff.
Gareth tried to think of it for a second and his face contorted in disgust.
“I don’t even want to imagine how the whole sex thing would work.”
That’s when y/n burst into laughter.
“I’m only kidding guys, it is kinda gross. I mean, imagine if... ok ok, I’ll stop here.” He shut himself up by taking a long sip of his beer, amused.
Eddie couldn’t take his eyes away from y/n. He knew he had been developing a bit of a crush on the boy, but to see him so relaxed, buzzed from the alcohol, the music and the weed... He couldn’t help but think he was the most handsome guy he had ever laid his eyes upon. No matter how unappealing whatever y/d just said might have been for anyone else, Eddie was not bothered in the slightest. He was glad that his friend was enjoying himself without the usual anxiety weighing on him, enough to share whatever silly thought was coming to his mind.
As the conversation died down, Jeff got up and announced he needed to take a trip to the toilets. The three other nerds nodded lazily in acknowledgment. Eddie walked around the table in the middle of the room, picked up a joint that had been left there for later, and took over Jeff’s spot on the sofa. He lit up the cigarette, staring at y/n from where he was, and he put a hand on his shoulder as he took a puff. The boy turned to face him, and he exhaled the smoke.
“It’s your chance to get a much more comfortable place to sit down for the rest of the night. C’mon.”
He noticed the faintest sign of embarrassment on his friend’s face when he stood up, not so steadily. Eddie patted the spot to his left and y/n pushed the hesitation aside, plopping down next to him. Eddie smiled and threw his left arm on the back of the couch, handing the cigarette to his friend with his other hand. Y/n borrowed the cigarette from him and took a puff of his own, eyes closing for a few seconds as he held his breath in. When he exhaled, he handed the weed back to Eddie. He didn’t bother asking Gareth, as he had already stated that he wouldn’t smoke anything tonight.
All three of them were now sitting in pleasant silence, if only for the soft music coming from the distant bedroom. They were all getting dozy, and y/n wriggled into a comfier position, snuggling a little closer into Eddie’s side, and he found himself drawing patterns with his fingertip on the leg of the metalhead.
“You feeling good, y/n?” he asked, a little surprised. He had never seen him show signs of enjoying this kind of intimacy, not with him, not with anyone else back at school.
“Mmh-mh, very good. You’re so... warm and comfy...” he mumbled.
Eddie was a little taken aback but amused. He enjoyed this version of y/n. Actually, he was enjoying being snuggled next to him nearly as much. Taking another puff, he moved the hand that was resting on the couch to y/n’s back, rubbing it softly. The boy nearly purred at that. Eddie chuckled.
“Someone’s in a mood, mh?” he asked teasingly.
“Sorry, I’m just... it feels so good, I don’t think you’ll ever get me to move away from here.”
Y/n reached out for the joint, softly grasping Eddie’s wrist. But instead of simply taking the cigarette from his grasp, he covered Eddie’s hand with his own and brought them to his face to take a hit.
Eddie’s breath caught up in his throat when he could feel his friend’s lips brushing against his fingers.
Y/n exhaled and he realized Eddie had stopped petting his back. His other hand was still hanging in the air where y/n had been holding it. A little concerned, he angled his head to stare back at him.
His face looked a little flushed. He looked cute, y/n thought. And with his plush lips slightly parted, he looked so… kissable. Without even realizing it, y/n's tongue peeked out to wet his lips.
This seemed to break the spell, as Eddie broke out of his stupor and averted his gaze, taking one last hit of the joint before crushing the nub in the ashtray. He had to bend over to reach it on the low table, and y/n took advantage of the movement to sit up a little more properly, still very close to his friend. As Eddie straightened his back, y/n ran his fingers along the spine. He could feel his muscles tense slightly at the touch, but all the tension seemed to release off his body when he reached his nape.
“Can I touch your hair dude? It looks so soft…”
Eddie chuckled. Y/n was really full of surprises tonight. He turned his head to face him.
“Only if you let me mess up yours later.”
Y/n pretended to think it over, humming lowly. He didn’t give a clear answer before his fingers skimmed through the thick, dark locks and started to massage the crown of Eddie’s head. Eddie’s eyelids fluttered. The presence of y/n by his side was comforting, and the gentle movement of his fingers was making his head tingle in the best way.
“Feels good?” y/n finally asked.
“Never better. I think I won’t let you move away from here even if you try.”
At this moment, Jeff walked back into the room, yawning.
“It was a really great evening guys but I’m gonna head back now. Anyone needs a ride?”
Gareth perked up at the offer, he was nearly falling asleep.
“Uh yeah, I think I’m too tired to walk back all the way home.”
Jeff turned his attention to y/n while Gareth mustered the motivation to leave the surprisingly comfortable armchair and gather his belongings.
“What about you? Want me to drop you off?”
Y/n didn’t answer the question, instead he turned to look quizzically at Eddie. He wanted to know if he was welcome to stay the night, he didn’t exactly feel like leaving now. Eddie picked up on that.
“I think I’ll keep him here a little longer. Want to talk through a few ideas for the campaign before I forget them.”
“Well then, it was really great to finally spend some time with you dude, you should hang around with us more often! I can’t wait to see what you both come up with for our party.”
“I’ll definitely do, it was a lot of fun. Thanks for inviting me in the first place guys.”
“Don’t mention it, you’re welcome to hang out with us anytime. You’re part of the group now.”
Eddie was glad that they all got along so well so fast.
***
A few minutes later, after everyone had bid their goodbye, the two friends were gone. Y/n was still snuggled up against Eddie, playing with his hair while the guitarist traced lines on his back.
“You’re really not gonna move, mh?”
Y/n shook his head, yawning.
“No way. I guess I’m just gonna pass out on top of you and you’ll have to deal with it.”
“I guess I could handle that.”
