Oh right! Maddie said she saw the tapes recording what the last human did. Alphys, the last Royal Scientist, set up cameras across the Underground that recorded their movements from the moment they left the Ruins. Might need Serif's help to find those tapes so we can actually copy them to send them to you, but how does that sound? You can see what they did, post ruins at least, and judge for yourself rather than relying on our word.

Serif's just a kid, Roxanne hasn't gotten out much but... Us voices know of the Old Royal Guard. And we recall that capture was viable then. Would it be okay if we try and... capture criminals? Try recruiting them or at least steering them from criminality? ...If nothing else... it's easier to pry information from the living than the... very, very dead. And... we'd like to avoid more loss if at all possible. *psst to talk to Maddie in particular* ...We've heard about Undyne and we're sorry for your loss. We know you looked up to her. Lots of people did. She was incredible. To verify we actually know what the hell we're talking about, we know you got that body of yours from a "sciency place", which may technically make you a thief... but no one can blame you for finding yourself. The point is: we were around back then, but no one could hear us and we couldn't do much of anything. ...I'd like you to know that she really appreciated you but... She had feelings for someone else. ...They're both gone now and yet... I think they'd both be happy you're still around watching anime and kicking ass in bells. The person Undyne liked... might have argued with you for hours on end on your choice of anime, but you might've made good friends with her despite that. *whisper mode over* Can't let ourselves get too caught up in hypotheticals, so let's move forward together shall we?

Bwuehehe. Writer questions 1, 15, 28, 32, and 46
1: What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting"
I use either Calibri or Ariel, depending. Basically any sans-serif font thats ADHD/Dyslexia friendly. Love reading/writing, hate when words don't stay put lol
15: Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?
Good lord lmao.
I just recently started being okay with annotating anf highlighting books. I used to consider it sacrilegious to do so, and then I realized who the fuck cares? They're my books, and fuck it, if I'm gonna let someone else read it, they can have fun reading my thoughts while doing so lol. I do not dog ear, only because I have a tendency to either use scrap paper bookmarks, the fancy bookmarks I keep forgetting I own. I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading in the bath. Unfortunately my family hated when I would read in the bath for two hours. Something about there only being one bathroom for six people lol. I do not judge. Again, who the fuck cares lol. I will be friends with anyone, regardelss of how they treat books. Carry them around everywhere, hoard them on bookshelves, tear out pages, blend them into a smoothie, fuck if I care lol.
28: Who is the most delightful character you've ever written? Why?
Oh goodness, I don't know. I'll always have a special fondness for Cam and Maddie, but I think the most fun character to write has actually been Q Tomlin. They're a nonbinary genderfluid teen navigating high school, coming to terms with a lot of structural homophobia/transphobia, and also starring in a Shakespeare play!
32: What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic/etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?
What, like in someone else's work?
I guess one of my favorite lines would be from a Dylan Thomas poem.
"Do not go gentle into that good night/ rage, rage against the dying of the light."
It's very much a line about not being complacent. I found it funnily enough in a trilogy I read as a teenager when I found the first book in my summer camp's lost and found. It was the last week of the year and we were encouraged to take things that weren't claimed, so of course I claimed the book lol. I've always been a bit of a rebellious thinker, so can you take a wild stab as to why I fell for that line?
40: Please share a poem with me, I need it.
See above poem, but also, here's one I wrote a while ago that I still can appreciate:
After Life
We walk across trails of light, endlessly winding through the night. A journey to the worlds beyond to find something that lets us bond and become something new, something true, something that we never knew we could be until we tried. Too many tears we have cried, and too many hearts were broken. All these words we left unspoken, a mark upon these hearts, torn apart, if only we had been so smart as to remember who we were together. Now we face the land of forever. Alone now, nowhere near close to that we fear, a different place to call home, our own. Draw me near, this place I roam. I want something as real as this, this glowing land of perpetual bliss. Let this be real, oh gracious god, for I can’t believe that I can trod upon these golden paths to salvation, in desperation, to something great, the blest creation of life in heaven. And now I know and can question how I came to deserve this afterlife, After all the pain and strife I have cause to others, to brothers, and those whose mothers names I cursed in frustration. Can I still receive re-creation of myself when I can’t be bothered to try to just be me?
We travel across these paths of light endlessly winding through the night. I guess I’ll never get it right. So let me fall, in ceaseless flight.

12th January 2023 - CHS Research
Quick developments created by Maddie for our group meeting. The developments were created in hand with the idea of seasonal branding, picking a neutral colour palette, such as beiges and nudes, which would be the brands staple colours. I am fond of the Forma DJR Display Medium typeface and it's clean, minimalistic and modern, but the kerning needs to be changed to give the type room to breathe as it's currently too condensed. Proxima Nova Medium is okay but there are better choices of typefaces out there, Proxima Nova feels a little soft compared to Forma DJR Display which is overall a stronger typeface. Smoosh isn't a suitable typeface for our branding. Firstly I feel that a sans serif typeface is a better choice for our brand identity as it's modern and minimalistic whilst a serif typeface would make the branding feel a little dated and not translate to the modern technology that is being used. Smoosh is also too condensed and detailed that when it's put smaller, maybe for social media icons, it'll be illegible.
these are some type experiments I did using the three colour palettes we outlined this afternoon. I used adobe fonts to find typefaces that I felt fitted these criteria
clean
simple
friendly
not heavy on the serifs
I really like the look of these and I can definitely see the type (aside from the last one) also working as a body copy in a thinner version if necessary. Doing this also helped me see how our chosen name will look on our advertising, and I think it really fits the criteria outlined by the brief also our own aims.

Maddy 100% has her own chickens. They love her very much, she has made them scarves for next Gyftmas and her sister makes them lil legwarmers, and currently Maddy has them in tiny rainbow ones.

Private Dancer CH. 5 Sneak Peek
👀👀👀👀👀
*~*~*
He’s standing in her apartment building’s lobby looking like a wet dream brought to life in his dark wash jeans and a fitted Burberry plaid polo shirt that shows off his arms. His thin, gold-wire rim glasses are starting to make Lexi believe she’s got a kink for accountants that she never knew about before. (Her mind immediately goes to the paunchy wizened accountant who occupies an office down the hall from her and she decides she definitely does not have an accountant kink.)
His eyes slowly scan over her, his face a beguiling mixture of happy lightness and dark want. She shivers under his gaze as her pussy gently throbs. Fez’s face stretches into a grin as he says, “We matchin’, Lex.”
Her eyes automatically drop to her pants as she blushes. She didn’t even know he likes plaid when she picked out her outfit. (Cassie and Maddy are always telling her how good her red and black plaid pants make her ass look, which wound up being the deciding factor for her.) Lexi forces herself to look back up at him as she murmurs, “Yeah, I guess we are.” His eyes crinkle at the sides, and the corners of her mouth pull up as if by magnets.
He reaches for her hand, and she laces their fingers together with an eagerness she thinks she should be embarrassed about (but she’s not). Fez leads her over to the Caddy, taking pains to make sure he opens the door for her. The heat in Lexi’s cheeks bleeds down into her neck as her blush deepens. (The last time a man opened a car door for her, it was prom and the guy was the limo driver.) Fez waits until she’s safely strapped in before closing the door with a soft thunk and walking around to the other side.
After turning on the engine to get the A/C running, Fez looks at Lexi. A small, almost shy look crosses over his face as he studies her from under his sinfully long lashes. Lexi gives a bashful laugh when she catches him looking at her.
“What?”
His eyes glance from her face to the backseat before he reaches behind her to grab a slim paperback with a plain cover with the words “Waiting for Godot” written in a simple serif font. Lexi turns the book over, her finger reverently running along the cracked spine before she slowly flips through the pages. The pages are covered in highlighting and underlining, margin notes that have been crossed out and added to over the years, and corners so dog-eared that the page numbers are missing. Some people would be aghast to see a book so defaced, but Lexi knows Fez is offering her a glimpse into his soul. She blinks back the tears that start to gather at the corners of her eyes before they have a chance to ruin her mascara.
“Was gonna get you flowers,” he says as he scratches the back of his neck, “but then I thought you might like this better.”

Weird questions 1, 6, 9, 15, 25, 34 😬😘
1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting
I don't care really. I mostly write in google docs which defaults to arial which is like, fine. so i've gotten used to that but i'm not attached. I do tend to prefer san serif fonts on screens, but i'm not picky.
6. What is your darkest fear about writing?
oh interesting. i don't have one, i don't think? i'm just vibin' dude <3
9. Do you believe in ghosts? This isn’t about writing I just wanna know
not ghosts per se, but like, i believe there's stuff out there we can't understand. my mom definitely believes in like, spirits, and has some crazy stories. i feel like i've felt the presence of people who are gone before. i don't know. i could ramble a bit about growing up catholic and my relationship with all of that, too, but i'll spare you - hah!
15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?
i definitely write, highlight, dogear etc. in nonfiction, or in any kind of book where i'm trying to learn something, take something specific away, etc. i don't usually write in novels, but usually i'm either so sucked in i can't put it down or i just don't read it.
i'm not opposed to reading in the bath but our only bathtub is the kid's which is uh, not a relaxing self-care space HAH. if i have a tub in the new house maybe i can have some chill baths with a book and a glass of wine 🥰
no judgement to how anyone reads - read how it works for you!
and yeah, you're stuck with me, obviously 😘
25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?
i love this question and my mind has gone totally blank lmao but i feel like i have a lot of these.
okay a random one but Q, my oc in nothing feels better than this, gets fully and completely adopted by the 118. like they're at every bbq, bobby folds them into his little pile of adopted adults, they join a bookclub with karen, maddie gently moms them but only a little, and they're a regular fixture at the diaz house.
the pack sometimes has a huge breakfast over at papa stilinski's house after moon nights in full moon 'verse (aka orgy fic). melissa helps him cook, and chris eventually starts coming too. the pack is always snuggly and tactile, and the sheriff doesn't admit it very much, but he loves having his house absolutely full to bursting with the pack, even though he has to spend about half a paycheck to be able to feed them all.
34. Thoughts on the Oxford comma, Go:
YES

Name/Alias: maddie Timezone: pst / gmt-8 Descriptors: ravenclaw, taurus, infj, big dumbass energy How long you’ve been coding: around 9-10ish years! Coding style: *throws a code together and hope it works out* Favourite design elements: big ass heaux for pink!!! i’m also obsessed w serif fonts, darker skins, and splashes of color What you’re aiming to get out of the Skinathon: taking my damn time instead of pumping smth out in a week and wanting to change everything after :yikes: Trying anything new for the Skinathon? def wanting to veer away from the rl-style for this!! i’ve been dying to make a space-y skin for like two years, i think now is the best time to attempt it! Shout out a code/skin/design/coder you love: too many to name but eve is definitely big coding envy (energy?) rn 🥰 A gif/meme to top it off:

Branding/Logo Experimentation
Maddi further experiments with the typeface that Lisa had chose was was working with. She generated two slightly different iterations - looking carefully at the 'i' in intertwine, the main difference being here. She explored the use of having something like a knot underneath. She felt as though using a knot/tie of sorts in our marque would be really fitting with the intertwine name and brand values. I personally enjoyed where this was going but still did not feel satisfied with the level and depth of this work. I felt it could still be developed further. I voiced my preference to the lowercase variations over this concept, because they had more of a softness and natural curvature to them. So Maddi provided a few more lowercase iterations.
Antonia raised a really good point, that with some of the concepts created so far, we lose the ‘organic’ feel that was connecting us to our string components of potentially having seeds, being biodegradable, sustainable, ect. She shared that when she thinks of these she thinks of a more natural, soft, rounded, fluid, rough aesthetic which isn’t portrayed in the stock standard sans serif typeface.

MADDI’S MARQUE IDEAS
Maddi has come up with some other ideas for different directions we want to go in. I do like the serifs font in combination with the script font for the interwineyness of string but I’m not sure if this style is to feminine for out target market? especially since we have a ‘barbeque king’

well... *quietly to serif* you know how we connected to you through this soul? we've also connected to some other souls. like you they're young ones and able to hear and converse with us askers. yet unlike you they're... alone in dark places. darkness as far as they can see. unable to move around rather than just... drift. and they were each hurt really, really badly... mortally. they've been through a lot. you've got roxanne... and maddie... and whoever else you meet besides us. but they don't. we're working on it but hey what do you know figuring out these space time connections for other beings are proving to be difficult. so far we've told uh... one soul about you. ...its not like we can think of anything better to do since just talking to them about mundane things and their lives is just making them sad at this point. they were the curious one rather who was confused and concerned about your jawbone. now DON'T BLURT IT OUT but... you've heard about them before. right now, you're holding something of theirs. ...do you want to say anything to them?

Roc Grotesk
After getting Maddy to give us some options on potential typefaces i didnt really connect with the display font and body font that she presented. All fonts were from dafont. I feel like the group is fixated on just this y2k aesthetic that we seem to only have that idea and running with it.
I wanted a typeface that had a lot of weights to choose from and had a sense of fun whilst complementing this y2k style that we have.
I stumbled upon Roc Grotesk whilst looking at various sans serifs on adobe font and something about it just clicked with my eye and i thought it was perfectly suitable for what we were going for.

Publication Spread Idea
Thumbnail sketches of possible collage style layouts for the cover and other pages in the publication.
I want to explore layering stamps over images like I have in the other spreads and bring that to the cover and other pages. I also want to look and layering maps too. I think a bold sans-serif would work best for the title and body text throughout the publication because it would be super readable against layered and busier imagery. The other spreads from Maddi, Ava, and Frosina already use a sans-serif for the body text and it works well on their spreads.
