Oooh fun little callback! I'm a little hazy because I wrote that fic quickly and passionately but I'm pretty sure it was this!

Jack stops a moment, a slight frown on his face, "This is one of your ' things', isn't it?" .

"My... things , Dalton?"

"Oh see, I got you, you only call me Dalton when I get you," Jack stuffs the marker in his pocket, "I must be in love with you, coming over to kiss you making that sour face and holding a gun."

In brief; I’ve taken up @thatdeepandlovelydark‘s headcanon history for Mac, in my head it’s something like Hey Diddle Diddle So Neon Bible is for that. Carry on is for the young tragedy of Mac shooting his childhood friend. You’ll see the thread of depression running through a lot of this music. Yankee Bayonet is for Jack Dalton, Broad-Shouldered Beasts is for Murdoc -- Little Lion Man for the both of them, yeah, I ship the OT3. 

I kept listening to this playlist like “wow this fucking slaps, I should post it sometime!” so hopefully you like it as much as I do!

ended up with “The Drugs Don’t Work,” which is a fairly extremely specific song. 

Hur....hum, I have written a character who’d suit this, but it’d have to be my coffee shop!AU version of Murdoc, notable for being A. if anything slightly more serious about being an assassin than the show version and B. rather haplessly in love with MacGyver. 

So scene’s gotta take place (anachronistically per the actual writing of song) sometime after “Second Chances” when Murdoc’s actually given up Mac to the gentle auspices of Jack Dalton, whose merits as Best Boyfriend (not being an assassin) are apparently inarguable. Probably not literally on drugs. Probably wishes he was. Definitely vibing with the vaguely stalker-ish bit about seeing his lover’s face again...

Not sure if this is strictly what you're looking for since it's '85 MacGyver, but on the off chance you've any interest in that -- this fic I wrote/am writing might fit the bill? Ch4 I'm thinking has emotional whump that might be what you're after.

It is the '85 MacGyver which has sort of a goofy tone, so no worries if it's not what you're after and good luck getting that prompt filled for the 2016 MacGyver!

Edit: re: happy ending, I'm still writing that :) should be done soon! so if you wanna wait till the fic is done, just drop me a message and I can message you when it's done. It's kinda on a sad/self-sabotage note right now cause I love it when characters are just ....morons lmao...

murdoc whump

I would actually like to read a fic showing Murdoc whump.  I think I read that sociopaths have a high rate of suicide?  Whether that or something else, I want to see Murdoc being the one hurting and someone else giving him comfort.  Mac would be first choice, but honestly, I’m not picky.  :D   I just have a sudden urge for Murdoc whump with a happy ending.   Any takers?

This took a bit of time, hope you like it!!! From that fandom you Don’t Go To, 1985 MacGyver. Mac is a spy; so you know, reason for his boyfriends to stay up late fretting over his arrival :)

“I would very much prefer that you slept.”

“Ohoho asking nicely, did it take you a long time to learn that?”

Jack dangles his head into Murdoc’s laugh, almost too sharp with his addle-minded teasing, but there’s too much worry in Murdoc to care. Or too much exhaustion. 

“You didn’t know me then, remember.”

“True, what with all that dinner and those,” Jack gestures loosely, halfway through a poorly folded paper plane, “Rube Goldberg machines, I guess you’d consider yourself a gentleman murderer.”

A tired smile crosses Murdoc’s lips, brushing his hands through Jack’s hair. Often Jack has a poor memory for names. But then again, Rube Goldberg was foremost a cartoonist.

“You’d be right at that. And that’s precisely why I’m far more suited to sleep deprivation than you are.”

“Can a sleep-deprived person do…this?” he points a finger at the empty pot of macaroni at the counter, propping himself up on an elbow to launch his completed paper-airplane. As Murdoc could indicate, throwing the airplane from the arm that was partially supporting him is rather an ill-conceived idea.

However there is no need to point this out when Jack tumbles headfirst onto the floor with a yell, and the paper plane reverses itself to bop Murdoc square in the left eye. 

“Ah yes. Hardly the behavior of anyone who needs sleep,” he blinks to wash out the residual shock, then leaned down to pull a grumbling Jack back up.

“I’m a pilot, I fly overnight. I’m fine.”

“You know MacGyver will be back late.”

“Mac will be back when he’s back. Why don’t you sleep?”

“I do not wish to.”

“Yeah, well, I don’t wanna either,” Jack pulls the blanket over himself, settling in to use Murdoc’s thighs as a pillow. Murdoc lays a hand on his shoulder. At this rate he’ll easily get what he wants. Then it’ll just be a matter of waiting, alone, until MacGyver finally, finally crosses the threshold.

“…well. If you must not sleep then. Why don’t you tell me more about that new plane you’ve acquired?”

Why are they in the tree, I wonder? To get apples for Mac? Oh it doesn’t particularly matter, I’m in love with these ridiculous fools and Murdoc’s unwillingness to admit that He Caused this. Also his insistence that this is “completely survivable” even as Jack clings to him

I did enjoy how cavalier Mac was about the whole thing thing; it had a great tone that captured the spirit of the series at it’s more adorably comedic moments well. 

Favourite line:

“Of all the- you think a crisis is the time to give me a lecture on civility?”

“I ain’t doing that. Civility, I would have rescued you already,” Mac says, grinning serenely up at them. “Instead of just enjoying the sun, and the blue sky, and that lovely crisp wind blowing through the trees-”

“Dalton. Dalton, is this my fault? Have I converted him to a life of crime and ill-disguised sarcasm?”

Jack ignores him. “Pretty please?"

14. what is ur crackiest crack ship?

Hux/Kylo Ren. Never would write them, but I enjoy going in the crack tag to find fic for them. Crack ONLY tho I don’t want to read about space fantasy Nazi x Weird nerd with an evil complex grandaddy issues taken seriously, not for me. 

15. what is ur marginally less cracky crack ship?

Good ask! Ungoliant/Thuringwethil! I wrote a fic for them, last I checked it was one of two in the tag. It ended kinda tragic (as the Silm do), so I guess I took them seriously in the end :) 

16. what is ur favourite ridiculous au?

Hmm possibly the one I wrote for MacGyver? Where Mac/Murdoc/Jack go from ‘Murdoc is assassin trying to kill them’ to ‘adorable curtainfic’ in an alarming amount of time? Idk idk I just find it very soothing to write and read. Love a good OT3 :)
