i just- bobby from season one. who didnt want to be close to any of them. he wanted to pay his dues and get what he thought he deserved. but he got what he needed. a family. and now here he is, years later. he gets to be married again, may and athena have both called him a father, he tells hen that he loves her while hes working, he gives buck advice and is able to speak openly about AA. because it goes so much deeper than being friendly at work. they are a family.

I really wish I was sad about Panic at the disco ending. The jokes are funny and all but it was genuinely really heartbreaking to see a band that I loved become just another soul less product.

Andrew is the favorite uncle. Not just for Aaron and Nicky’s kids but all the foxes kids are just obsessed with uncle Andrew.

None of the foxes understand why except for Neil. But that only because Neil is there when Andrew gets up at three am to answer a phone call from their sobbing niece, who admits for the first time out loud that maybe she isn’t a boy and “is that okay uncle Andrew”. Or when Kevin’s kid shows up at there house after getting in an argument with her dad and Andrew lets her rage and rant until it doesn’t seem like the end of the world anymore, then walks her home (hc: they live pretty close for a while cause their on the same team). Or when nobody can get Aaron’s twins to stop crying but as soon as Andrew is given a turn at trying to calm the babies they stop immediately.

The kids all love Andrew he’s the first one they go to with their issues, he’s the first one they run too when all the foxes are together, he’s the first one that they come out too if they’re queer(Nicky is so mad when his kid comes out to Andrew before him)

He’s just a really good uncle.

Helping my sister with her med school applications has made me very aware that Aaron would need to take at least one gap year. Granted early 2000s had an easier process than today (with lower average GPA/MCAT scores, less emphasis on already having clinical experience and higher matriculation rates requiring you to apply to fewer schools), but it would be impossible for him to complete everything required while also doing school and Exy without a gap year.

Ideally, Aaron would need to apply during 4th year playoff season and then complete supplemental essay hell during that following summer (Schools sent you the prompts and you have a week to submit, not too bad except you likely applied to 20+ schools and it’s all roughly happening the same week.) Then 5th year could be used for interviews and letters of interest/updates. But Aaron is not operating on the ideal timeline. He likely had planned to use his summer post TKM to study for the MCAT but instead he has to sit through his murder trial. While I know people who have studied for the MCAT during the school year, they also did nothing besides study during that time, which is not an option for Aaron.

I feel like there’s a lot of potential for angst we’re not digging into because while Andrew graduates and immediately has his next step figured out, Aaron is still figuring things out. He’s also feeling out of sync with all his friends and Katelyn since they largely completed the process when he was doing his 5th year. He’s also trying to balance having a long-distance relationship with a Katelyn who is struggling through her first year of med school on top of all the above nonsense.

However you could also go the comedy route, Aaron and Neil becoming friends during Neil’s 5th year since Aaron stuck around to work as Abbey’s assistant (or at Reddin).

Finally started rereading VALL! Two chapters in so far, and:

1. God I genuinely forgot the extent of Holmes's fixation on Moriarty 😭😭 I THOUGHT EVERYONE WAS EXAGGERATING BUT NO it's genuinely that bad. Lmao

2. I think I may have accidentally acquired a Background Character Blorbo in Inspector MacDonald... We'll see how it goes I guess but I already have Things to say so uh if you see Inspector MacDonald content from me shortly... You were warned

3. AND one of my first thoughts about him was "what if I was to combine him with Inspector Mackenzie from Raffles?", which a) I intend to act on this thought actually so I'll keep you updated, and b) I thought for a brief moment I was being original with this but then I wanted to check something about Mackenzie and saw this:

I think I'm doing better. I cry less I guess. I find focusing a bit easier. I don't think I'm really doing well by pretty much any measure. I'm still a loser. But I've gone from mentally being at a 3/10 to a 4/10. And that's something.
