Hello there @maciek5ot​, I’m your Secret Santa! <3 Here are my gifts for you: a small fic on Kamil’s feelings on Sunday in Planica, and a drawing of what’s supposed to be Maciek (I’m so sorry it doesn’t look like him, I did my best!). I hope you like them! <3 

Have a wonderful, Merry Christmas! I hope you can spend them peacefully with your family and have a lot of joy and a true Christmas atmosphere. Have fun at New Year’s Eve as well (party from 19:00 to 6:00, right? ;D Gotta love Polish government!), and I wish you all the best in 2021 - may it be a complete opposition of 2020, bringing only happiness, positivity and good memories! <3 Enjoy all the competitions in the future, and Maciek’s participation in the 4HT!

Kamil Stoch, Planica 2020

Planica. The valley looked spectacular this time of the year - a true Winter Wonderland. Heaps of snow seemed to be growing with every single day, enclosing them by a white bubble within the literal bubble they were living in. It was entirely different than in March, and although it wasn’t especially easy to have a ski flying competition so early in the season, in the omnipresent fog and the darkness of the evening, he wouldn’t exchange it for anything else.

He loved flying, and this was always one of his favorite hills. Once upon a time, he had set here a record; Ryoyu had taken that achievement away from him two years later, but that wasn’t important. What was important was the joy of flying, of being able to soar high and feel satisfied with himself. He always looked forward to those comps with thrill and biggest anticipation, and this year, even though the circumstances couldn't have been weirder, he was not disappointed. Every effort made here was definitely worth it. If he only had such power, he would fill the majority of the calendar with the ski flying hills.

The virus had made it impossible to hold the championships when they had been due; he was grateful that, despite everything that was happening, they could still gather here over half a year later to fight to become the Ski Flying World Champion. The only title he still lacked in his collection.

It didn’t change this year. He managed to finish in the top ten; it was a good result, though still far from perfect, far from his ambitions. It wasn’t bad, of course, but could have been much better. He was a professional through and through, and believed some things could always be improved - higher speed, longer jumps, better landing. He could have done it better, especially this day - some of his jumps made him feel angry at himself, leaving a bitter aftertaste in their wake. But this day he wasn’t fighting alone, luckily, and the team effort was what got them where they were right now.  

This day wasn’t about him. This day was about his team, celebrating their third place, their own personal victory. And they had every reason to celebrate it.

“I guess our podium isn’t so asymptomatic, hehe,” he heard behind him and turned around to see Piotrek standing there with his typical wide grin.

“No, I guess it isn’t.” They were still reeling with all the emotions surrounding the flower ceremony, the medals hanging proudly from their necks. “You had to show off, didn’t you?”

“Duh. That’s what I’m here for.” Piotrek bit into his medal and smirked at Kamil through it. Kamil chuckled, Piotrek’s antics never ceasing to make him laugh. Even in his darkest days, his teammate’s high spirits had always pushed him towards the sun.

He looked at Dawid who was still conversing with the journalists, something Kamil had already done, much to his relief. His teammate had conquered his back pain and managed to rise to the occasion, as usual. Andrzej stood not far from Dawid, proud of himself for even being in the team, not to mention on the podium. He had been absolutely on fire during the championships, and Kamil could not be more proud of him. It had probably been Andrzej’s determination that got them that podium. Well, him and Piotrek’s love of flying, most probably.

They all seemed tired, but that wasn’t surprising - those had been rather draining days, both physically and emotionally. In a good way, though.

The virus made some things a little bit crazy, but the moment when he had handed his colleagues the medals was special in so many ways. He was proud of his team, and being able to somewhat reward them for their efforts felt so good he would like to have that moment on constant repeat. The bronze snowflakes shining on them just as brightly as the smiles on their faces, seen even through the masks. Such joy could not be contained.

Soon, they will have to slowly start preparing for the Four Hills Tournament and think only about it. But today, they could rejoice. Nothing was going to take that day away from them.

They will be back here in March, and hopefully, it will be even better. Planica will be waiting for them, glorious as ever, and Kamil already felt a thrill of excitement at that thought. March was so far away, everything could change until then. He wanted to believe it would be even better than it was now.

And even if it wouldn't be better... it will still be Planica. And he will love it no matter what.

So yeah...

I'm not quite sure if I am proud of this or I hate this so I'm posting it before I change my mind.

I paint for fun sometimes, I have no proper education in that, just some practice, few tips from Internet and lil bit of talent. So please don't scream at me for this being bad this is just for fun. Also my materials are shitty but they were cheap...

Well I hope somebody will like it and yes I am aware of many mistakes (skis being too short is one of them) I also didn't put any sponsor because I would have died. Anyway I based on photo of Kamil, cookies for anyone that can find it.

I am rambling because this is way out of my comfort zone, so yeah enjoy
