Recursive Maintenance (Boot.hill x Reader)
hi this is a fic idea i've had for a while that i'm obsessed with. contains the following: gt vore, male pred, soft vore, safe vore, object vore, reader insert w gender neutral terms
Ever since you went independent and started your own shop as a mechanic, you've seen all kinds of colorful characters with ships and vehicles that told a story. You've even serviced some Intellitrons and cyborgs...but one client in particular stuck out to you with how frequently he visited. For the same issue, every time... Here he sat right in front of you, wearing an innocent-looking smile as if this hasn't happened countless times before.
"So, doc..." He always called you that, much to your chagrin. "I've been feelin’ real out of sorts lately. I can hear somethin’ rattling around in here…” He gestures to his metallic stomach, lightly rapping his knuckles against it. “But it won't come up no matter what I do! Think you can be a peach and help a Ranger out?”
You knew full well what he meant by “something”. He couldn't help but chuckle at your expression; he had the strangest habit of…swallowing bullets. Whole. You scowled and crossed your arms at him- when was he going to stop doing this and getting bullets stuck in his gut! You asked him, and he got deathly serious for a moment.
“No forkin’ way! I never let myself go without some extra ammo! And even if those IPC clock-punchers shake me down for everything I’ve got…there’s just one place they’ll never think t’look!” He grinned, showing you his sharp sharklike teeth. “But they won’t do me any good in a fight if they’re stuck in there, right doc? Can you give me a hand?”
You sigh. You’ve been through this enough times to know exactly what was wrong, and exactly how you were supposed to do it. No need for scans- you knew the bullets were in his stomach, and you knew his stomach wasn’t able to be opened. (Not that you really wanted to do that, you were a mechanic not a surgeon!)
This meant an unorthodox and strange approach on your part: going inside of him and dislodging the bullets yourself. You weren’t worried about being hurt, as a cyborg he seemed to be able to control his rate of digestion so the bullets would be undamaged…though his fangs always gave you pause. He always seemed to be very careful with you when you shrunk yourself for it, at least.
Speaking of that, it was about time for you to get to work…which meant getting the shrink gun out. You used this when you wanted a more close view of some delicate machine’s insides…but now you were using it for a rough and tumble man’s insides. All the while the ranger had a pleased smile on his face, which only grew wider as your body shrunk down. He reached over and plucked you off the table, looking you over with amusement.
“I've gotta say…I'll never get over how neat that little gun of yours is. You oughta let me take it for a spin sometime, doc…”
As he spoke, he was already lifting you over his face. His sharp teeth were on full display, glinting in the light as he grinned up at you. “Be sure t’ be gentle with me~ I know I will with you.”
Opening his mouth, he lowered you inside without another word. His tongue gently tasted you to cover you in saliva for your impending trip downwards, but you swore you heard a hum that wasn't a part of his inner workings. With a swallow and a gentle tug at your body, you were pulled down his throat. Here you were surrounded by more familiar sounds- the whirrs and humming of machinery, and the clicking sounds of some of his internal parts around you. You found the experience comforting; but you’d never admit it to someone like him. You can already imagine the smug look on his face…
Splashing down in the ranger’s stomach, you were deposited in a very shallow pool of fluid. The surrounding chamber grumbled and rippled around you as if it was greeting you, and you briefly wondered why it still acted like an organic stomach. Maybe it was just to bother you specifically as the walls came in closer in an effort to gently press against you…but you simply shoved back against them, turning on your flashlight to search for the swallowed bullets.
They stood out easily against his black synthetic flesh, covered in fluid and shining in the light. They were undamaged, but…they weren’t stuck anywhere at all! Did he seriously just lie to you so he could eat you?! Your world suddenly shifted, and the bullets clicked against each other as you nearly lost your balance. Outside, the outlaw had leaned back and kicked his boots up on the table he was sitting in front of. Crossing his arms behind his head, he licked the remnants of your taste from his lips and got comfortable for a short rest.
That confirmed your suspicions, at least. He was getting an earful from you whenever you got out of here- you weren’t just some snack he could show up and munch on whenever he wanted! You were at his whims until he released you, though…and the white noise and gentle whirring of his inner workings did well to soothe your brief flare of anger.
#v0re#soft vore#safe vore#nonsexual vore#18+ nsx vore#gt vore#object vore#nomkai star rail#reader insert#insane about that ranger yeeeeeHAW#reader is fine just grumpy#boot.hill shows his fondness for people by eating them i know this in my heart#dont expect to see object vore outta me btw im not comfy with it#this case is different because i know theyll be dislodged and brought up safely w no harm to him

Miu Iruma: Hogwarts AU
Miu Iruma is a Pureblood witch that was born on the 16th of November 1982 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1994, being sorted into Ravenclaw House.
She had a Walnut wand with a Unicorn Hair Core.
Her Patronus was Non-Corporeal.
Her favorite subject was Potions and her least favorite subject was Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Miu is described as an oddball, having an overly confident, loud personality and a frighteningly sharp tongue. She considers herself a beautiful genius, and every time she opens her mouth she spews a parade of reckless vulgar remarks and insults, strongly putting pressure on others and looking down on them. She also tends to give other people insulting nicknames, and would routinely call them virgins.
However, Miu's arrogant personality seems to be only a mask that can drop fairly easily. This often happens when her festival of coarse language and dirty jokes actually get replied to or ignored. Then, her personality quickly changes into a timid coward, who is terrified of other people being angry with her. Because of this, she has a charm similar to an innocent child.
As an inventor, Miu is skilled but also an eccentric who treats her failed projects with the idea that "I transferred the rights to the company, so it's got nothing to do with me". She has made all kinds of amazing conveniences, but only deems her inventions as a success when they help the user to perform a task while sleeping (it's possible this is because she suffered from a coma in the past). She also has a habit to make very bizarre, seemingly pointless inventions which are sometimes very sexual in nature, including a "Hookup Counter" which tells how many people you've had sexual intercourse with, an "Auto-Puncher that Punches You for Telling Terrible Dirty Jokes", and a "Goin' Commando Gun" which can teleport underwear and only underwear. Nevertheless, Miu has also used her remarkable talent to make very useful inventions as well, though in most cases they were concepts created and requested by other students or something she created because she was bored. It is also shown that as an inventor, she firmly believes in science and finds Himiko's insistence in true sight and Angie's talk about it very annoying.
Miu comes off as very perverted and openly says bizarre, obscene things during her arrogant moods, meaning almost constantly. She often claims that she just says them to lighten up the mood, but they are very much disliked by the other students. Despite often trying to act dominant and appear sadistic, Miu is also masochistic and into BDSM, and acts very different during her weak-willed moments. Despite her usual arrogant behavior, she seems very uncomfortable if other people actually act very submissive towards her, like when Kaede and Shuichi begged for her help and she began to sweat nervously and agreed just to make them stop (though she later claimed that the situation turned her on). She has many kinks, some of which she seems to casually admit, including bondage and hot wax. She appears to have some sort of fetish for machines as well, at one point speaking suggestively about a computer, and she is also very much attracted to the house-elf Keebo. Furthermore, the last time she hung out with Shuichi, she tries to give him a pie with a piece of her hair in it. She also baked cookies with her fingernails and made chocolate with her blood as ingredients. Disturbingly, she says that she wants the person she loves to eat a little piece of her, which might show how even though she acts strange at times, she doesn't want people to be grossed out by her.
Despite her penchant for calling her classmates virgins, openness about her kinks, and tendency to make obscene remarks, it is suggested that Miu actually is a virgin herself; she scolds Kiyo for "bragging about [his] perfect love life", implying that her own love life is unsuccessful, if not nonexistent, and she gets extremely defensive when Kokichi tries to suggest that Miu is a virgin. When she mistakenly thought that they were on a date, Miu awkwardly gives Shuichi permission to have his way with her, suggesting that in spite of all her sexual comments and jokes, she has never faced a serious opportunity for sex. It is also suggested that Miu wants love and not just sex, and the "date" with Shuichi is based on a childhood friend romance (contrary to Shuichi's expectations). Miu would also insist on being offered a romantic gesture before going further. Lastly, in her fifth year, before she was murdered, Miu becomes lovesick for Shuichi because he stopped her from disemboweling herself, suggesting that Miu would fall in love with anyone who is at least somewhat affectionate towards her.
Miu has a very cowardly and self-centered personality, immediately looking for excuses to be absent from the murder investigations after being reminded that she would be killed with everyone else if they reach the wrong conclusion. Also, despite her amazing inventive genius, she is rather dumb when it comes to other matters, being usually ignored by the other people during the investigations. During investigations, she generally spouts out whatever theories come to her mind at the moment without thinking them through, and she can make rather unwise decisions and actions. Because of this, Himiko has described her as "really smart, but also really, really dumb". She is generally not liked in the group that is forced to participate in Tsumugi's killing game, and according to Kokichi, she is the least well-liked person of the group after him. During the investigation of her murder, many students admitted that they probably wouldn't have been friends with her if they hadn't been forced into this killing game.
Despite her timid personality, she genuinely believed her bragging, thinking she can change the world with her inventions and that she is truly important to humanity. When she started her fifth year, she began to break down after finding out about the previous killing games at Hogwarts and became obsessed with potions, seemingly to let herself and the other students escape the harsh reality. In truth, she planned to use her potions skills to murder Kokichi and claimed her motive was to escape and make the world a better place after the massive destruction caused by the fourth Wizarding War which had begun. However, despite her negative relationship with Kokichi and her generally callous attitude towards the others' lives during the killing game, she appeared very uncomfortable with the idea of killing him when the time actually came. When she confronted him, she ignored his usual joking and nervously stuttered with a perpetually sad expression, quickly telling him to just give up and apologizing for what she's about to do. Her face turned more and more sad and stressed as she explained it was her only chance and she had to take it for the world's sake, sincerely appearing remorseful. However, Kokichi later pointed out to Gonta that it was just a poor excuse and she really did attempt to murder him regardless of what she said.
At one point, it's revealed that Miu was convinced she was an augmented human as a result of surviving a coma and a surgery, claiming it made her head full of ideas, gave her completely new skills and changed her personality that used to be way more ordinary. She has been shown to act in a self-destructive manner at times, believing she cannot be harmed nor killed in the same ways as ordinary humans. Once, she even attempted to disembowel herself with a wrench because she believed that her superhuman powers were literally inside her and she wanted to study them. When Shuichi first meet her, it's also heavily implied by her own words that she had a tendency to use powerful hallucinogenic drugs in highly stressful situations, to make herself forget all about it. When she much later talked to Shuichi in her usual odd manner, Shuichi felt worried and suspected that she might be on drugs.
In a conversation with Kokichi during their third year, Miu was also shown to suffer from trust issues and fear of betrayal after everything that's happened in the killing game. Regardless of the great advantage that her inventions gave the group, she was completely unwilling to team up with the others to fight the mastermind, believing that a betrayal was inevitable. Her "date" with Shuichi also implies she might suffer from strong abandonment issues. The aforementioned event and her behavior towards the first years might also indicate that she has a motherly side. According to Kaede, Miu may have trouble with communication because she has never had any friends, and her aforementioned "date" being based on a childhood friend romance suggests that Miu is secretly very lonely. According to Keebo, Miu is a good, caring person and has natural innocence hidden deep inside her, despite how she appears on the outside, and it's implied that she acted like her true self in Keebo's company.

The Crossover conundrum
Or the DOOM x EFTS crossover nobody but I was interested in
Alternative title: Someone builds a dimensional hole puncher and the first one thru is Doomguy
I'll edit when I have enough brainpower to make words do the pretty thing. Bonapitete. Enjoy. Here's my disaster. adios
The day started like any other, though Calle didn’t know whether to call it day, night, dawn or dusk, or everything and anything in between considering she was floating around in a giant warship in some sector of the galaxy that she had no possible way to pronounce. She took pride in knowing that she was the furthest human away from Earth. No, that was a lie. Last she had checked, Jade was on the other side of the ship. But still, the sentiment was valid.
A rough blow to her shin spurred the young woman out of her stupor. She whipped towards the culprit, who was buried half under a giant ring, deep in the guts of the mechanism. Calle didn’t know what it was and didn’t want to.
Jemma pushed herself out from the behemoth, signing for a helping hand before clambering back under, pale face stained with dirt and mousy hair slick from sweat.
Calle reached towards the nearby mess of supply’s, handing Jemma exactly what she had asked for.
Which meant that moments later, she had front row seats to watch as the girl channelled her inner high schooler and rocket out from under the ring, tossing the literal hand with all the strength and speed of a professional pitcher.
And then she came for Calle, going straight for the talkers ankles as she ran, laughing and crying in mad glee.
Almost lost in the cacophony of joy, the machine beeped loudly, once, twice, three times.
Then it screamed.
Bathing the room in a violent red glow, it sprung to life, gears and cogs churning as it wailed, beeping and flashing in a wild symphony of horror.
The two girls sprung to action, Calle slamming the button to the intercom, screaming over the chaos as Jemma lunged towards the beast, twisting knobs and levers in a mad attempt to silence it. Time seemed to drag on ph so slowly as the two battled against the towering ring, desperate to quell it before the ship tore in half from its quakes.
They almost missed the door shuddering open like a camera, an influx of children and aliens pouring into the room and into action.
Jade was still in her flight suit, and Calle briefly realised that she would have to apologise again. The self-proclaimed pilot never got to fly.
Ian raced to help Jemma with the controls alongside Rochelle and Hunter, the towering aliens orange complexion drowned out by the violent red.
The only one who seemed to sink deeper into the glow was Max, who, alongside Hayley and Bayley and Adam, took up defensive positions around the machine, guns drawn and ready for anything that emerged.
The rest, Calle, Jade, Eviee and Maeve rushed to tear into the machine but were forced back by another shudder.
Which meant that the whole of the Lazarus’ VIP crew had first-class access to the portal swirling with a sickening green, and a metal giant emerging.
Towering and frightening, the human emerged from the portal, shotgun at the ready and so impossibly imposing.
Clad in green armour, the man was a sight.
And then he charged. Far too fast for anything human, he barrelled past Jade, past Ian and Adam. Straight for the triplets standing guard.
Calle cried out a warning, unable to help as the siblings leapt aside, followed closely by the man.
And then, almost in slow motion, the door opened again, revealing the tiny shape of Emily, bathed in light. She stood with her bear clutched tight, eyes wide and searching. “Teddy?”
And the man froze, turning to the six-year-old in shock.
Taking the moment of opportunity, Max lunged, all 11feet and 4inches of alien crashing into the man like a freight train.
But the man was quicker, spinning out of the Rashikk’s way. But he didn’t account for the aliens head-tail.
Quick as a whip, the length shot forward, desperately trying to wrap around his armoured neck, but with little luck. And so Max lunged again, dodging the arm blade and pulling the man to the floor with a strength that anyone who had seen a Rashikk fight, would know was a mere fraction of their might.
And anyone who knew Max, also knew that he was just waiting for an opportunity to unleash hell.
And that presented itself in the armoured man on the floor, who, with startling strength, pushed the alien off and lunged for his Shotgun, the weapon having been knocked aside in the calamity.
But Adam was faster, nimble and quick, he scrabbled for the gun, tossing his rifle to Calle who easily slid into his place, gun aimed at the man and finger on the trigger. Adam slid under the man's arm, gun in hand as the warship lurched.
The armoured man slid, unaccustomed to Vivaane’s piloting, or the alarming nimbleness of the Lazarus, and Max took the opportunity to force the man's helmet off and knocking him out in the process.
Hours later, after the crews buzzing had died down, Captain Kalishnamara strode was not the medical wing, intent on finding out what the incident was this time.
But nothing could prepare her for what she saw when the doors opened.
Eight humans flitted around the room, Emily was perched on Max’s bed, bear in her lap as she laughed at her adopted father's antics. Eviee and Jemma, ever the scientists, were drilling into the half armoured man confined to the room, a dark robot at his side, translating. Jade, Rochelle and Ian were watching, transfixed as the Rashikk triplets tried and failed to beat Adams score for the fastest time to take apart and re-assemble a gun.
And then there was the Askiir, Maeve, the one she trusted the least, who was hovering nervously around Eviee. She had nothing against him personally, but when one gas the ability to manipulate emotions, there will always be a slight distrust, at least in her experience, Eviee seemed fine with the lanky bug.
Jade was the first to notice Kalishnamara and snapped to attention seconds before everyone else, bare the two newcomers, and Emily who was using the wrong hand, but no one held that against her, and if they did, the Lazarus fleet was always ready for a hunt.
“At ease. Alright, I’ll keep it simple. Someone’s already given me the incident report and I’ll get around to it when I have the patience”, Eviee made quick work of translating the Rashikk’s odd symphony of clicks and whistles that made up their spoken language. “All I want to know is if there is a body count”
“Not today”, Bayley answered cheekily, earning a laugh from those in the room that could understand, and leaving the last two to Waugh’s for Eviee translation.
“Good. Let’s keep it that way a little longer”, finally moving from the doorway, she stalked towards the newest members of her VIP crew, noting something peculiar in the way they communicated.
Leaning down as not to be overheard, she motioned to Jemma. “You both speak in the language of hands, yet you cannot understand each other without translations. Why is this?”. Though she was still not fluent in Jemma’s hand language, she understood enough of the basics to cobble together a sentence.
‘Different hand language. Different Home’
“I see. Thank you”. The captain rose to her full height, and the man glared, unknowingly annoyed at feeling oddly small not once, nor twice, but three times since coming through the portal. Was this what everyone else felt when he walked past?
Eviee dutifully translated the aliens oddly melodic language, a strange sound to come from creatures so adept at war.
“On behalf of the Crew and Residents, I welcome you aboard the Lazarus” the robot thanked her, introducing himself and the man. Flynn and Vega. Odd names, but who was she to judge. “I am Captain and Fleet Commander Kalishnamara. But you may call me Lisa. It is a nickname, as I am told.
“You will be regarded as VIP guests while aboard, much like everyone in this room. Please, referring from breaking any of my men why we try to get you home. Now, any questions?”
“Just one actually”, Vega spoke up, “how can you understand them?”
It took Lisa an embarrassingly long time to realise that the robot had been talking to Eviee, who was desperately hiding her laughter from the confused Captain. But still, she managed to pull her source up and reveal the thick golden band around her bicep. “Universal translator. It hurt like hell but is incredibly useful. The downside, both speaking parties have to have one to be able to communicate.”
Flynn turned to look towards Emily, who was squealing as Max and Rochelle bickered.
“What’s the diagnosis doc?”
“You want my diagnosis? Your gonna fuckin die!”
“Don’t worry about her”, Eviee waved off the giants concern. “She doesn’t have one. We’re working on an alternative”
At that same moment, Lisa turned towards Max. “I was told that no major injuries were sustained. Why are you in Ned at?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. The beds are just comfortable”
Lisa sighed as she left the room, muttering about needing a drink. Followed by Jade, Calle, Ian and Adam, the rest of the Chaos club, two aliens, a robot and a confused mountain of a man and a six-year-old and her stuffed bear.
The day ended like any other, in that the Days without Incident board was wiped clean, five new reports were written up, and the crew was abuzz. The only new thing being that the armoury was now locked, indefinitely.

Borderlands 3 New Game Mode 'Arms Race' Review
Arms Race Included in Designer’s Cut Arms Race is the new stand-alone game mode that is part of the Designer’s Cut. This 5th DLC package is part of season pass 2 but can also be purchased individually. It contains Arms Race and an additional skill tree for each of the Vault Hunters. The Designer’s Cut is going to be released on November 10th, 2020. What is Arms Race? Arms Race will bring you to the blisteringly cold region of Pandora. At the Stormblind Complex, you can participate in a game show hosted by no other than Axton and Salvador. These are 2 fan-favorite Vault Hunters from Borderlands 2. Axton and Salvador have been mentioned occasionally throughout the game and its DLCs but It’s great to “see” these 2 back in the game. Well, you won’t be meeting them in person as they are the commentators for this game show. Arms Race is a stand-alone game mode and where you get to show off your skills. You could see it as a Battle Royale-like game mode without the PvP elements of such a game mode. So you won’t be fighting against other players, on the contrary, you can actually team up with your friends. You will be stripped from your gear and action skill and will be dropped fresh into an arena. There you quickly need to gather your gear and survive the horrors Arm Race throws at you. Luckily, the game will always drop you near a starting chest. That way you always have some gear at your disposal. Your goal is to fight your way through the map and loot the red chests marked on the map. However, these locations are well protected and your time is limited. Because like any Battle Royale-like game the area in which you can move around will shrink. This forces you to the center of the map. There you must enter the bunker and face-off against the boss. Loot Matters Ahead of the reveal, Gearbox Developers mentioned that they wanted loot to matter in this game mode. In Arms Race, you do need all the loot you can find. Because you won’t have access to all your gear from the main game. So Bye Bye; Face-Puncher, Hellwalker, or OPQ System. This way you will be looking for the best weapons in order to defeat the boss at the end but you also need these weapons to sell at one of the vending machines. Because selling weapons is your main source for money in this game mode. As you won’t have any other means to acquire enough money in order to purchase powerful items from the vending machines. You can carry a lot of items in Arms Race so be sure to pick up everything. New Legendary Loot Arms Race also adds new legendary items to the game. However, in order to keep those, you will need to extract them. Since Arms Race is like a 1-life challenge run with a fresh start each time, you need to deposit the items that you like to keep in a special beacon. Only this way you can keep the items you like. You can find a few of these beacons throughout the map but also one after defeating the final boss. If you die and didn’t send the item to your bank, it will be lost forever. While you can find new legendary items during Arms Race, you can only use them outside of the game mode as they will be locked. If you are lucky you can stumble upon a ‘World Drop’ legendary during this game mode. They have really helped me out throughout my games. While Legendaries can drop like crazy in the main game, from my experience this isn’t the case in Arms Race. Legendary items can still drop from any loot source. I have gotten some from trash piles and basic lockers. Arms Race TLDR Randomly drop in a map without any gear and try to survive Hunt for Red Chests throughout the map as the play zone shrinks Collect all the gear so you can sell them to buy better gear at vending machines Defeat the Boss at the center of the map Send a limited number of badass weapons to your bank in the main game Arms Race Conclusion Personally, I had a lot of fun with Arms Race. I did have to adjust my playstyle as I tend to take my time and compare stats of all the weapons. As I have exclusively been using legendary weapons, I needed to rediscover the other weapon rarities again. However, since your time is limited I had to speed up my decision making and just run with it. Which in itself let me rediscover the weapons in the game. You really want to go for those points of interest as taking on that Spiderant Queen isn’t always worth your time. The chance that you get a powerful item isn’t significant and therefore you can better keep moving. Because as mentioned before, you don’t have all the time in the world, as the storm will consume the map and you can’t survive in it. I kinda missed my action skill as this is a character- and game-defining feature in the Borderlands franchise. But the Devs mentioned they wanted guns to be meaningful. Since I mostly play Zane with a lot of speed boosts, Arms Race felt a bit slow as you won’t have access to those skills. Getting a snowdrift artifact during your run is awesome as it allows you to quickly travel through the map. Arms Race is an exciting game mode because you only have 1-life and you can lose your gear when you die. This really raises the lava, I mean the ‘stakes’ as you don’t want to lose that new legendary item. Planning your route is important because you might just want to send home an item before taking on the final boss. While I managed to defeat the boss each time, there were some really closes calls.

The 15 Greatest Heavyweight Fighters of all time.
The 15 greatest heavyweights of all time
1) Muhammad Ali- The greatest heavyweight champion of all time. Like George Foreman, he went through 2 incarnations. The first one was the fastest heavyweight of all time, whose defense made him untouchable. Ali had good power, but not great power, but he would fire off his punches like a machine gun. Most times, like in the case of Brian London, they were overwhelmed. Then the exile occurred and Ali came back three years later. He was slower of hand and foot, but stronger, and Ali used this strength in the clinch. Ali could also hit harder, and he discovered he had an iron chin. Ali’s chin is one of the marvels of the sports world, and no one could take a punch like Ali. Ali used this durability to not only survive fights, but to win them. Ali is the greatest because he always found a way to win using different styles.
2) Joe Louis- Joe Louis was deadpan, silent, and one of the greats. He was the greatest puncher of all time, and put together his combinations with speed, power and accuracy. His punching technique was as pure as Arthur’s Excalibur, which stayed with him to the end.
Louis was also no slouch at defense. Nat Fleischer ranked him with Jack Johnson in terms of defensive technique. His style started with the crouch and the jab. Louis fought out of the Blackburn crouch and used his jab to break down opponent’s defense while setting up his offense. He was perfection on offense, and opponents could not afford to make the same mistake twice. Louis was 10-0 in rematches with 9 knockouts and of his 25 title defenses, 22 were knockouts.
3) Jack Johnson- Johnson was the first black heavyweight champion, and as a result, there was a move to get a White Hope. But for the most part, these people were wasting their time. Johnson had probably the best heavyweight defense, and mastered most of the defensive techniques such as ducking, blocking, parrying, slipping and leaning back. Johnson also had one of the best uppercuts in heavyweight history. He would throw it from an upright position to further confuse opponents, who could not anticipate when the uppercut would land. He was the consummate counter-puncher, who made life miserable for his opponents when he was in the ring.
4) Jack Dempsey- He helped refine the swarmer style and showed how it had to be done.
He used head movement and footwork in his attacks to pressure his opponents and open them to his two-handed punching. His bob and weave technique meant that he was not hit solidly in most fights. Dempsey’s chin and recuperative ability also meant that he was always in the fight. Dempsey’s left hook is the greatest ever, and his right hand was not bad either. His constant attacks made him the heavyweight with the greatest amount of 1st round knockouts at 25. Even in defeat, he managed to knock Gene Tunney down.
5) Rocky Marciano- Marciano was like the Energizer bunny, if the Energizer bunny had boxing gloves. He was a raw novice when he came to Charley Goldman, who polished him until he was a diamond. Marciano applied non-stop pressure punching at all parts of the opponents. If the opponent covered up, then he would punch the body and the arms until the opponent yielded. Marciano is also the only undefeated heavyweight champion who retired and did not have a loss. Marciano was harder to hit than he looked. Joe Louis could not stop him from imposing his will and Ali said he hit hard, while being hard to jab. He was an all-time great.
6) Larry Holmes- Larry Holmes’ jab was an ever-present reminder that there was a higher authority in the fight. His jab is classed as one of the best ever, and it outclassed opponents. Holmes could knock an opponent out with a jab. That coupled with his speed and technique made him one of the greats. He could beat an opponent by boxing from the outside, or by using punch placement to wreck havoc on the inside. Holmes was the first word in versatility. And above all else, Holmes had a world-class chin. Holmes learned from Ali and took those skills to show the world that much of Ali’s style was still in the ring when Holmes went through the ropes.
7) George Foreman- Foreman was the tale of two careers. The first career, he emulated Sonny Liston and tried to knock out all comers with power punches especially those coming from his right hand. The second career, he took Ali as his role model and tried to set up his knockouts with patience and timing. Either one of these Foremans is a top heavyweight. When they are put together in an examination of a career he is an all time great. He was very adaptable for a slugger and could cut the ring off with impunity. And his power is one of the best, if not the best in heavyweight history. The class that Foreman is in with regard to power is one of very low attendance. His best wins are those over Frazier and Moorer more than twenty years apart.
8) Sonny Liston- Liston had the best jab in heavyweight history. His jab was a power punch and it was as if Liston had two right hands. He could also hook off the jabs and throw combinations. He combined boxing skill with brute power. Joe Louis said he would not jab with him, even though Louis had a stellar jab himself. Rocky Marciano said that he would not relish fighting Sonny Liston. Liston was also the intimidator supreme. He did not invent ring intimidation, but he perfected it. Most of his opponents, including Muhammad Ali, were scared of him. Floyd Patterson neglected strategy and went at Liston head on, and was dealt with severely like a disobedient child. Only Ali was able to overcome him when he was near his prime, and the scorecards were even until Liston quit.
9) Joe Frazier He was the candle that burned brightly before it became dark. Frazier took the swarmer style and used his strengths to become a nightmare for opposing heavyweights. Frazier worshipped at the altar of the swarmer. His bob and weave technique was among the best ever and he had a left hook that was carved from the netherworld like Thor’s Hammer. Frazier owns the best victory over an all-time great heavyweight when he defeated Muhammad Ali, and dropped him with that left hook. Underrated speed of hand and foot, a good jab, an adept ability to cut off the ring, and stamina that could not be tamed help round out the Frazier package.
10) Lennox Lewis- Lewis was the best heavyweight of his generation. Everyone Lewis fought, he won against and the two men who beat him suffered knockouts. He had the punch of a slugger, but also brought the table good hand speed, an exceptional reach, and two-fisted power. He would often look on his opponents with disdain, which hurt him when he underestimated them. But Lewis was never more formidable than against an opponent he saw as a threat, which is shown in the Tyson fight. Lewis’ right hand was one of the best of all time, and chopped down grown men with impunity.
11) Evander Holyfield- Holyfield had the soul of a warrior of ancient times brought to life inside a boxing ring. Sometimes this mentality hurt him, because he was so focused on warring that he forgot to win. He faced the best opposition of anyone besides Ali. And although he did not always win against this opposition, he always gave his best. He was a superb counter puncher and although he did not have the benumbing hitting power of Tyson, Holyfield could string together combinations that did as must damage. Holyfield’s win over Tyson was shocking, but it was the result of intense preparation and focus. Although Holyfield was not the fastest, he could move and use his movement to set up his punches.
12) Mike Tyson- Tyson was the terror that reigned in the heavyweight division. He was not only modern but ultramodern, trained to fight in ways that other heavyweights did not comprehend or fathom. He was physically gifted and that coupled with intensive training brought him to the heavyweight championship of the world. Tyson’s fights were often a question of how long the opponent would last rather than if the opponent could win. But then, Cus D’amato died and Tyson began to unrival. Tyson forgot his training, and in forgetting his training, he did not use his skillset. The head movement became stationary, the combination punching was reduced to one at a time punching, and body punching was neglected. Tyson in his second career lost as many fights as he won. But Tyson in his first career was one of the all-time greats.
13) Ezzard Charles- He was the small fish in the big sea of heavyweights who managed to rule over them as king. Ezzard Charles made 9 defenses as a heavyweight, which is a statistic that many people are unaware of. Only Jack Johnson, Tommy Burns, Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, and Joe Louis made more title defenses. He faced off against the best fighters in 3 divisions. Charles was a technician of style, and many foes found it impossible to beat him. He beat Jersey Joe Walcott and Joe Louis, and managed to give Rocky Marciano 2 of his toughest fights. He had speed, combination punching, defense, a punch, footwork and so much more. Good things indeed come in small packages.
14) Sam Langford- Langford was the best heavyweight who never won a title. He won against Joe Gans when he was young and against Tiger Flowers when he was old. The fact that he knocked out Tiger Flowers when blind further testifies to Langford’s skill and power. A large portion of Langford’s opponents ranked him as the most powerful heavyweight they had faced. These victories speak to the longevity and greatness of Sam Langford. Langford can be seen as an early prototype of Joe Louis, with a moderate crouch, combination punching, and deadly counter punching off of misses. He combined a potent offense with an impenetrable defense. Langford had it all but missed the biggest prize of the heavyweights.
15) Jim Jeffries- He was the prototypical slugger of his era, and helped developed this style from being a raw brawler. He coupled learned boxing skill with natural strength and punching power. Jeffries was the first heavyweight champion to fight from a crouch, and he was very effective with head movement. But even if a fighter was able to get to Jeffries’ jaw, he could harm his hands on Jeffries titanium chin. Jeffries beat boxer-punchers like Peter Jackson and Bob Fitzsimmons, outside boxers like Jim Corbett, and swarmers like Tom Sharkey. And except for Tom Sharkey, all of these boxers were knocked out and counted out. This speaks to the raw power that was in Jeffries veins and in his fists.

To Hell and Back A "Doom (2016) Review" Played on PC Beat in 5 Hours, 22 Minutes, 6 Seconds Review by The Autistic Gamer (Michael) PROS AND CONS DOWN AT THE BOTTOM This is the definition of an overhyped game. I was unfortunately part of the huge hype train when Doom (Now implanted in our brains as Doom 2016) was announced. A True Successor to Doom 1 and 2 and Final Doom, the game was met was overhwelming praise and many calling it one of the best old school FPS Games EVER. However, I would say that's bullshit. Doom 2016 is a good game, don't get me wrong, I don't hate it by any means, but this mentality that it's better than Doom 3, a shooter inspired by Half-Life while still being Doom is true? I don't think so. The thing that made Doom 3 one of the best shooters ever was it's groundbreaking new version of the ID Tech engine that was mindblowing using dynamic shadows and lighting making for an eerie atmospheric game that is unforgettable with some of the best gameplay imaginable. Doom 2016 doesn't do anything revolutionary with it's new updated ID Tech Engine. It looks better than RAGE, don't get me wrong, but the entire point of ID Tech was to push the limits of gaming. How is this pushing the limits of gaming? I don't think it even is. So what is Doom 2016 improving? While, I wouldn't say improving, but it refines what made Doom 1 and 2 great classics. That becomes a contradication of itself throughout unfortunately. Basically, each level consists of Doomguy (Who is now pointlessly named Doom Slayer) trying to eliminate the threat of demons in the UAC Mars Research Facility. He goes from trying to cool down some reactors, to destroying a dangerous hell energy, to going to hell and back and fighting many bosses throughout. Doomguy's weapons are what you would expect, a pistol, a shotgun and super shotgun, plasma rifle, chaingun, rocket launcher, of course, who can forget the BFG (Or the Big Fucking Gun as Dwayne Johnson put it in the Doom 2005 movie?) But there are some new weapons as well, mainly the Gauss Cannon and Light Machine Gun/Heavy Assault Rifle. The Heavy Assault Rifle is ass and gets replaced with the chaingun later due to it being much more reliable. The Gauss Cannon however, was the big surprise of the game. It's super fun to use in most cases. Doomguy also has a progression system. Now, he can use suit tokens for his Preator Suit (Which is a stupid name, why not just call it the armor or space armor?) to upgrade a bunch of things, he can find robots carrying weapon upgrades that change how weapons work and of course, Argent Energy Balls that upgrade Health, Ammo and Armor. This works out pretty well for the most part and I really enjoyed getting more ammo along the way. The Chainsaw is also back, but here is the difference. In Doom 1 and 2, it was useless to me, the purpose was just to kill Pinky demons. That's it. Doom 3 had you using it to get out of corners before the enemies gang banged you to death, here, it's a gas fueled chainsaw that is a ammo drop machine. Basically, use it on small enemies, the less gas it uses, this also is part of the ammo upgrade system as you get more gas later on. There are also a bunch of secrets to discover like hidden throwback levels like Underhalls and Live Moving Models of Enemies throughout the game. Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3 from Doom 3 also makes an appearance which is great and one of the highlights. There are also easter eggs to be found including one of the Dragonborn from Skyrim. So all together, this comes to a highly frantic action gameplay which is very good. There is much more of a challenge to the game than Doom 3 as the enemies are unpredictable. Enemies include Possessed, Imps, Pinky Demons, Revenants, Hell Knights, Barons of Hell, Soldiers, Lost Souls, Mancubus bosses including Spider Mastermind and Cyberdemons, and a new boss called Hell Guards and new enemies like Cyber Mancubus and Summoners (WHICH I ABSOLUTELY HATE) but gone are Arch Viles and Pain Elementals and Chaingunners. Also, power ups are back like Berserk and Quad Damage. Glory Kills are one thing I forgot to mention and this is where we will start getting into the negatives of the game. Basically, these Glory Kills can be performed to get more health and a tiny bit of ammo in gruesome ways, but the problem is because there are a limited amount of ways to kill demons, you'll be seeing the same Glory Kills over and over and which gets incredibly tiring and redundant. The boss difficulty is also a problem. Boss Fights should at least get progressively harder and harder. challenging, hard as ass and then a total pushover. The Cyberdemon fight was perfect, but the Hell Guards sucked ass and were totally cheap and then the Spider Mastermind was too easy. If the bosses were actually balanced, this would make for some fun challenges. The story is my biggest problem. Doom should not have much of a story, it should just throw you into the action and keep going and never stop. But somehow, ID Thought that throwing unskippable in game cutscenes that last way too long would be a totally okay idea. It's not. The beginning is a good example of this, you kill three possessed after getting out of chains, you put on the space armor and then a 90 Second unskippable cutscene occurs that you can't skip. The point? To show a satellite is off. Another good point is in the third level the Foundry, where the main villain of the game, Olivia Pierce, (Who is incredibly useless and is barely in the game and is a stupid villain) tries to prepare a portal to hell. All you needed was for VEGA to say that Olivia Pierce is fucking something up and you need to stop her. THAT'S IT. What Happens instead? A two minute unskippable cutscene of her preparing a hell portal then walking..... super..... duper.... slowly.... out the door. Don't even get me on when you go into Samuel Hayden's office, it's another two minute unskippable self monologue he does and is incredibly annoying. This shouldn't be happening in a Doom game. Doom is about being awesome and splattering demons into thick red paste. "BUT MICHAEL. HOW CAN YOU DEFEND DOOM 3 WHEN IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS!?!" You bellow. Because while Doom 3 is still technically a Doom game, it takes many other story elements and gameplay inspirations from mainly Half-Life. So the story was a bigger part of Doom 3 because it was inspired by Half-Life and it's expansions. Plus, Doom 3's story is campy, fun and compelling while Doom 2016's is boring, unnecessary and not fleshed out. Also, Doom 2016 tries to be like Doom 1 and 2 but keeps on ruining that promise with horrid amounts of story and in game cutscenes. So yeah, the story in Doom 2016 kind of sucks, it's just ripping off the story from The Lost Mission expansion from Doom 3, you have to shut down a teleporter and kill a shit ton of demons. There is some stuff about a artifact here and there, but overall it's nothing special. Also, compare Olivia Pierce to Dr. Betruger. Betruger was a menacing villain who cackled evilly and was a total insane man who wanted nothing more than for all of Mars and Earth to suffer, Elliot Swan and Jack Campbell coming to Mars to investigate pushed his buttons so hard that he said fuck it, and went completely batshit crazy and started a portal to hell. He was a fun villain and one of the most memorable parts of the game. Olivia Pierce? Her motive seems to be becoming a cult leader because she doesn't like Samuel Hayden. That's it. Also, you don't see her at all again after the fifth mission is over until the very end of the game. Also, what does opening another portal to hell benefit for you? What? Are you just going to ruin the UAC even more by opening another portal to hell? What the hell is her motive? But there is one shining light in this beacon of a dark story. Samuel Hayden. The over seven foot tall robot man is incredibly interesting to look at character wise, but he has some of the best moments in the game. He wants the best for Earth, but Doomguy's awesomeness ruins that, so in the end, he has to send Doomguy away to try and fix his own problems. He isn't a good guy or a villain, he is just some person trying to do his job as the head of a huge base. And that my friends, is all I have to say. Doom 2016 is a very good revival of the Doom 1 and 2 formula, with classic throwbacks, great weapons, awesome hell levels, some decent music (Although Iron Maiden or Dream Theater is more appropriate listening for this game), highly frantic action and is a good challenge throughout. I recommend it to people who liked the older Doom Games. 8.2/10 PROS: -Highly Frantic Action Throughout -Better Challenge than Doom 3 -Samuel Hayden is very memorable -Great Weapons that feel good to use -Lots of gore and blood for a Doom game -Lots of Secrets -Good Progression System -Decent Music -Callbacks to previous Doom games -Good Length for the campaign NEUTRALS: -Story is just borrowing from The Lost Mission CONS: -Story feels the need to stop dead in it's tracks with unskippable in game cutscenes -Boss Difficulty is all over the place -Olivia Pierce is a stupid villain

I was thinking of writing a post on the last Boruto episode, but since Nanu Maru San Batsu (Fastest Finger First) will naturally get less coverage I figured I'd discuss some points about the latestest episode there instead.
On the whole it's a pretty basic premise that's been done plenty of times before: shy boy enters high school, discovers a competetive sport/hobby that appeals to him, joins that respective club, friendship and shenanigans ensue. The premise itself is pulled off pretty competently and the show itself is decently enjoyable. But I have to admit, without the quiz bowl angle I probably woulnd't be watching the show at all. I don't usually get to weigh in on how realistically sports anime cover their respective field (I'm pretty sure Kuroko no Basket is pretty unrealistic, but darned if I could even begin to articulate why), but I did quiz bowl all through high school and as such I can actually appreciate how FFF's writers actually seem to know the hobby they're depicting (shocking, I know.) So I went ahead and compiled some of the ways FFF really nails quiz bowl.
*The pre-game buzzer check: This is a ritual performed, without fail, before every match. Everyone buzzes in to make sure their machines are working. And yes, it is incredibly embarassing to jump the gun and buzz check out of order.
*What's it asking for?: It's critical to listen to the phrasing at the beginning of the question, especially if you're aiming to power in early. This can be the difference between calling out the title of a novel because you hear some characters you recognize and give the wrong answer or getting it right because you realize the question is actually building up to describing the novel's author.
*Buzzed-in cold feet: I love how the show captures just how tense you get when your finger gets ahead of your brain and you buzz in before you have the answer nailed down. Our team's coach always discouraged us from jumping the gun, since giving the wrong answer locked the whole team out from answering and gave the opposing team a clean field to hear the whole question before answering. I'm guessing that in the individual format in this episode it does actually make sense to be a bit riskier with your buzzing.
*The buzzer puncher: There's always someone who gets really enthusiastic about slamming down on the buzzer. And almost always someone's there to ask them not to break the equipment. I never actually saw anyone break a machine, but I have seen the aftermath of buzzer punching and it isn't pretty.
*"That's my niche!": Getting a question right is always an amazing feeling, especially if you aren't a super high scorer. Having a question come up that's right down your alley is a great rush. The muttered "nice job" to a successful teammate is also a nice touch.
*The Know It All: Yeah, this guy is real. Most players are humble and show good sportsmanship before, during, and after the match. But then there's always that one douchebag who pounds out an answer and just can't resist telling everyone what an easy question that was or how they've heard it a million times before. These people work on varying levels of obnxiousness--I ran into some pretty irritating characters, especially on the national level--and I'm sure the show will show off more of them, especially if it introduces more antagonist types further in.
So far the show’s really enjoyable. I’m looking forward to seeing what other characters show up and how it approaches the team building and tournament elements of the competition. The classic anime over-analyzing (hyper-specific buzzing techniques and word-by-word question breakdown) is great, too. Really looking forward to some over the top buzzer slamming and crazy internal mind games during the matches.

Vash the Stampede’s Words of Wisdom
Episode 2 Truth of Mistake "There's something that cannot be expressed in words, human emotion. Emotions of the heart can't be just tucked away in a closet. There's a way to know the emotions. Look into the eyes. The girl lied to me, and I believed her. The gentleman lied to me, when I trusted him, but the moment I looked into his eyes the angel of destiny began to unravel the truth. Just look into their eyes. There is only one truth." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 3 Peace Maker "Those who make mistakes blame themselves and close their hearts. It's impossible to fix the mistake. Men can't return to the past. That's why they drink. Lushes, drunks, sliding alcohol down their throats to dilute the memories that can't be forgotten. Frank Marlon, the gunsmith, does nothing but drink & he questions the glass after it's empty. ‘Am I wrong?’ ‘Was I wrong?’" --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 4 Love & Peace "A past that can't be forgotten & can't be buried. A past that can't even be shaken for just a little time. The sentiment deep inside each of their hearts is strong & equal, for beloved parents & for a beloved daughter. Two men can only find the answer from behind their triggers. The moment the sentimental bullets flew towards each other the men stood silent, yet were weeping. The past, enslaves..." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 5 Hard Puncher "Whenever something is gained, something is always lost. It's difficult to live after something like that. What is lost will never return. Important things, irreplaceable things, but what is needed to keep those things is in the firm will packed into one bullet. Man knows, he knows nothing will begin unless he speaks, & that nothing will change, unless he moves." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 6 Lost July "The longer one holds on to a memory, the longer one lives in the past. The deeper the memory they hold onto, the more beautiful the past will become. The beautiful memories will eventually turn into hate. Even if they look ahead, they lose the ability to walk. As long as the heavy chain called revenge continues to bind the heart, the tears of sadness will continue to flow." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 7 B.D.N "The tragedy endlessly repeated in order to fulfill desires. The lust for conquest, making people bend to your will, a thrill intense enough to make you shudder. There's a man who is a slave to that ecstasy. The leader of the Bad Lads, a man who shines: Brilliant Dynamites Neon. The sandsteamer will shake at the moment the huge dynamos on each of his shoulders start to spark. In the pitch black darkness, the gruesome party begins." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 8 And Between the Wasteland and Sky....... "People who sin say this, ‘That they had to, to survive.’ People who sin say this, ‘It's too late now to stop.’ The shadow called sin dogs them steadily from behind, silently without a word. Remorse & agony are repeated only to end up at despair in the end, but the sinners just don't know that if they'd only turn around there's a light there, a light which keeps shining on them ever so lonely. A light that will never fade." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 9 Murder Machine "I met a lone man in the desert, a traveling priest, Nicholas D. Wolfwood. He smiled and then he told me that I'm a troubled man. Faced with his all seeing smile there was nothing I could say in my defense. Did I meet this man because I was destined to or, was it simply by a small jest of God? The man's name is Nicholas D. Wolfwood, a traveling priest I met in the desert." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 10 Quick Draw "I think I'd like to do something nice for somebody. I think it's good if you smile at someone, and they smile in return. Voluntary love encourages people to create a sense of friendliness. Love that is unconditional gives us respect as people, however, it's wrong to force love, to try to keep it alive. If the strain goes on eventually it will bloom into the flower called Lie. The deceptively thorny flower that hurts people." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 11 Escape From Pain "A choice between two things. The forked road, a crossroad, where men given life must take in order to stay alive. Whichever end they live on, they lose something. Whichever end they live on, they are unable to find happiness, but are there really only two paths to a forked road? No, there are infinite paths we must take. There is more than one path. There is more than one path to the future." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 12 Diablo "All people have a sanctuary which must never be touched. A scar of sadness which must never be tred upon. The cooperation formed by the living to realize a dream or achieve an ideal. The man with the white coat told me in a quiet voice that he had finally found me, that he wanted my life. That man smiled a smile deeper than darkness. Legato Bluesummers, a man fascinated by death, only spoke quietly." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 14 Little Arcadia "If you only face forward, there is something you will miss seeing. It is a virtue to devote one's self to something, firmly believing in one's own ideals. But that does not mean it's all right to belittle the ideals or feelings of others. If you lead such a busy life, & you don't realize how your parents feel, it's only for self satisfaction. It's all right to stop every now & again. If you want a moments rest, if you want to feel what other people feel." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 15 Demon's Eye "People judge people. Lives are being cut short because of someone's personal logic. Mothers, fathers, friends... their entire paths instantly vanish into thin air. The question is, should this take place at the whim of one individual? A beautiful woman stood before the corpses of the Roderick thieves. She told me that she was merely discarding some useless garbage. Dominique the Cyclops told me to just think of it as 'Spring cleaning'." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 16 Fifth Moon "A fragment of memory lost in the gap between life & death. Is it something which will point the way towards spiritual awareness? The silver metallic gun crushes and my right arm metamorphosises. My past, my people, my mother... the moment I was reunited with everything I ever protected, the light took Augusta. The Humanoid Typhoon, the $$60 billion man, Vash the Stampede. This is the beginning of my past. This is the end of my journey." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 17 Rem Savrem "Rem told me, that someone she loved died on Earth. She told me she boarded this ship so she could start over. What does it feel like to have someone you love die? I tried thinking of what it would be like if Rem died. When I did, hot water came out of my eyes & it wouldn't stop for a long time. Rem, I'll always be there for you. I won't leave you alone." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 18 Goodbye For Now "Let us regard the fifth moon, shining down upon us from the sky, stained red with blood. And let us remember his name, his legend. To do so, you only need to look up. Like it or not, his legend is chiseled into the fifth moon, a permanent etching from a terrible past. The legend of Vash the Stampede, chiseled, forever, & then the time comes... you only need to tell of the tracks, which lead to the future." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 19 Hang Fire "Strong will can stir the heart, but a will too strong can cut off the heart's visibility. The sorrow of a man bereaved of his family turns into hate, which eventually metamorphosises into the intent to kill. The man's finger reaches for the trigger. Sins change people. Sin begets sin, but I, I still want to believe. I still want to believe in the heart. The heart that feels the sin." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 20 Flying Ship "In times of hardship, in times of sadness, there's a place a traveler can let his mind return to: home. I still don't know what kind of a past the traveler abandoned when he left his home behind. I still don't know what kind of sorrow he bears. But the traveler can keep walking forward because he has something which sustains him... a place which accepts him. He can walk forward, step by careful step." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 21 Out of Time "There is something you can't give up. There is something you want to protect. There is a time you must take a stand, no matter what kind of pain awaits us. The man clad in the red coat took up his gun once again in order to stop the sadness, in order to stop the hate. I keep the word of the red geranium, which I was taught so long ago. I keep the courage and determination deep in my heart." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 22 Alternative "Self protection: the means of protecting one's self. People expose the weaknesses which pain them, & thus form a group. Before they know it they begin to exclude those who are not one of them, but what becomes of those who have been excluded? I smiled at the children who lived in a tight group in their rickety house. Sure, let's live today, let's live tomorrow, & let's live the day after that, even if it means living in eternal pain." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 23 Paradise "To realize a mistake, to not lie, to love one another, to not kill. Those are very simple things, but these times won't allow for them. There is no green on this planet, even though we want it, & want it so badly. A place where we can live peaceful days with no wars, nor stealing, a sacred place, where people can live as people. Yes there, that place is called..." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 24 Sin "Repeated tragedies, repeated pain, the wishes of man are so strong & yet so frail and weak. To live, to stay alive, who would have known survival was this hard...this painful? I must choose. I must make the choice, in the moment that intertwines life & death. Can I choose to remain a human?" --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 25 Live Through "I was dreaming Rem. Everything was so horribly dry, there on that planet, even people's hearts. As I watched the people who lived there from far away, I kept wondering why they went on living, how they kept on living. Rem, listen to me Rem. I did a bad thing. I did a bad thing. Tell me? What should I do?" --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 26 Under the Sky So Blue "That day, that time, 130 years ago we were born, weren't we? There was nothing but peaceful days, & Rem was always close behind us. But our disagreeing thoughts changed each of our ways of life, didn't they? I don't regret it. I will vow once again not to kill, not to betray, but to find happiness, to talk about my dreams, because the ticket to the future is always blank." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun)

los juegos de 2016 de oli
My inaugural post on el Super Famigos punto com! Cool beans! :D
So here's my 2016 games list. These are the games I liked most in 2016. In lieu of ranking, I'll list them in alphabetical order. I'll also add some honorable mentions, since I did enjoy them and don't want them to be left out. ;)
The List
Breath of Fire III
(heartthrob credit: BoF wikia)
Fitting that the first on my list would be a SuperFamigos classic!
I picked up Bofee ("Breath of Fire III" -> "BoF III" -> "BoF3" -> "Bofee") after some prodding from my friend Chris. I’ve wanted it for a while, and even played it once, but… I don't have as much patience for JRPGs as I used to, even ones as good as Bofee or Chrono Cross. This time, though, ♪ I had a little help from my friends ♫.
Since SuperFamigos was just starting up, I downloaded OBS and gave streaming Bofee a whirl. And sure enough, broadcasting and interacting with friends via chat is way better than grinding alone. Chris shared all his expert secrets, and I flew through the slogs that stopped me before. And we spawned a whole slew of inside jokes too (oh man Teepo's flowing locks *o*). I haven't played/streamed much recently, due to a combination of old hardware and busy schedules, but with luck I can fire it back up in 2017.
As for the game itself: it's great! Top notch pixel art, animations, and music. Story's a bit slow, though Chris assures me it gets better. Definitely more fun with friends. ...smells burnt
rating: "9/molotov"
Chrono Cross
(stunning opassa credit: Chrono wikia)
Frickin' Chrono Cross! What a sweet game. Beautiful scenery, amazing music, and a genuinely enthralling and mysterious story. I'm still not fully sure what's going on! The battle system can be intense too: trying to fend off the Fire Dragon with only two Revives? Are you kidding me??
I must confess, I got Chrono Cross three Christmases ago. The game has a couple of the same JRPG issues that Bofee has. So my tactic is to whittle away at it, every once in a while. And it's a bit like turning down the lights and sitting back and listening to Kind of Blue on vinyl; you come away feeling well fed.
So why is Chrono Cross on my games of 2016 list? Partly because the OSSC got me hyped to play it on my new HDTV (it was disgusting before) (and it handles the 240p <-> 480i switch quite well), partly because Chris again got me through some tough parts (he’s a boss, seriously), and partly because it's an awesome game and it won't come off my "games of <year>" list until it's beaten. So there.
rating: "poshul4mayor"
Downwell
I finally beat Downwell (normal mode) and unlocked all the palettes in 2016. Even then, I haven't stopped playing.
Downwell is the one mobile game I actually enjoy. For all the critically acclaimed mobile games I own, none have kept my attention like console and handheld games do. Except Downwell.
The mobile qualifier is important. Often I was chilling in a café, or waiting in line for a sandwich, or unable to sleep on a redeye flight, or trapped on a god-forsaken Snowpiercer Amtrak to Portland that was 6 hours behind schedule because snow somehow broke the signals and freight trains rule the rails and "we can't tell you if it'll be 30 minutes or 3 hours"
…Anyway. Downwell kept me sane in 2016. I don't even mind the touch controls.*
By the way, here's my fav strat: Floaty. Attract gems + popping gems + gem recharge. Laser if possible, or machine gun / burst / puncher. Combo as much as possible, but only to 25 each.
rating: "10/10/10"
Open Source Scan Converter
(razor sharp credit: Rex Warden)
I know, I know, it's not a game. But it counts as one, because it gave my PS1 a new lease on life.
And what a lease it is! I kid you not, I had serious goosebumps whenever I first fired up wipE'out" XL with this puppy. It was beautiful. I noticed background textures I had never noticed before. Colors popped, not bled. I could read the menu text in wip3out! And no noticeable lag! Game after game, I was amazed at the difference. A major reason these old PS1 games are on my list is the OSSC.
Granted, YMMV; the results aren't nearly as drastic on other TVs I tried. But on mine… There's no going back.
rating: "I could cut my veggies with that PS logo"
Pokémon Sun
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (I really like this game.) Pokkén Tournament
(sassy credit: chipsprites)
Taking a step back for a sec.
Moving to Seattle was hard. It’s still hard. I live by myself, it's my first time working out of college, and sometimes even cooking food is a chore. My life has certainly gotten better now, but those first few months were…hard.
Pokkén was what I played when I wasn't at work. It's a great game, with bumpin' music and satisfying mechanics that I could really get into. But more than that, it was a game that helped me get through a rough time. For that reason alone, I would definitely recommend.

Splatoon
(manual or automatic credit: Syfy Games)
"But Oli, Splatoon came out in—"
Whoa there. Listen up. If you haven't already guessed, this is MY list o' 2016. It doesn't matter when such-and-such game came out. If I played it in 2016, it counts.
…but you do have a point. I didn't get Splatoon until Christmas 2015, which led to me missing a good amount of the summer unveils and hype and such. And online games stress me out, so I had the most fun when I stuck to my niche: off in the corner with my paintbrush, flinging paint errywhere, firin' off torpedoes to the other side, occasionally ninja-ing peeps.
In any case, still played it enough and had fun enough to include it! Very refreshing to see some color and friendly competition in a shooter. Good music and 1P campaign too. I even picked up my first pair of Vans Slip-ons because of this game. Fashion help 10/10.
Splatoon is also one of the Famigos' go-to online games! Several times we'd host a private match and not even battle, but just hang out on the stage, swim around, go explore, etc. Kinda like what we do in real life…except as squid kids.

wip3out
(let’s be friends credit: infoxicated via wipeoutzone)
Until I got the OSSC, this game was literally unplayable on my new HDTV.
Okay, not literally. Seriously though, wip3out** has some of the most succulent graphic design in the industry, and that stinkin' yellow composite cable rendes it muddy, meh, and unreadable. Yuck. wip3out was the second game I tested with the OSSC, and it's easily the best demonstration of the power of upscaling.
But enough about that. wipE'out" (the series) is the beez kneez. What's not to like? Cream-of-the-crop electronic soundtrack, mouthwatering tDR design, spicy-smooth tracks, and rich chocolatey weaponry. That feeling when you tear down the track, barely grazing the wall as you unleash a Quake Disruptor…
wip3out makes my list this year, not just because of the OSSC, not just because it's a filet mignon of a game, but because I freakin' beat Venom Tournament mode for the first time. Even with unfair AI in Sampa Run! ( *`∇ ´ ) And I plan to keep playing for a long time.
Interestingly, although XL/2097 and 3 have very different physics and handling, I can maneuver them both just fine…as long as I don't play them both in the same night. I get so used to one game, that I can't immediately swap discs and play the other without crashing into everything.
rating: "Excuse me, I think I need to return this steak, it's too delicious"
Honorable Mentions
Digimon World 3 I inherited this from a neighbor. Popped it in to admire the pixel art with the OSSC. The battle system is confusing, the FMVs are loltastic, but it has some surprisingly good music.
Hyper Light Drifter I really want to like this game more.
I love the music. And the art and atmosphere seriously gave me chills. Absolutely beautiful. But I just couldn't get into the combat: too visceral. I felt...almost dirty playing it. I understand that's kind of the point, but…
Maybe with time I'll get into it.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime Had a ball playing this at a work game night. Don't have many others to play with though.
Nuclear Throne Lol both Sam and I got the Humble Indie Bundle this year, so we both played lots of Nuclear Throne. Fun (3D glasses Eyes is my man), but a bit too stressful/addictive for me. Had to stop playing for my health.
Pokémon Black 2 I grabbed Black 2 as a birthday gift for myself (I did the same for White in 2015), and to tide me over until Pokémon Sun. To try and mix it up this time around, I played with only three Pokémon for the entirety of my run: an Ice Punch Weavile (bred in White), a Dewott, and a Growlithe. I only caught maybe another five. In the end, though, I didn't level enough and I ground to a halt at the seventh gym.
I think one of the many, many reasons I loved Pokémon Sun was that I dived in headfirst, catching Pokémon, playing minigames, getting invested. Guess I didn't do that as much with Black 2. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
That being said, Black 2 definitely has its moments. There's schweet music, and I still, still prefer the animated sprites to 3D models. (Some of the new Pokémon's models are great, but some are horrible.) Super satisfying to wreck newbs with a Ice Punch to the face. Just sadly overshadowed by Sun.***
Pokémon Emerald Lots of Pokémon on this list, huh? ;)
Got this along with a Game Boy Micro from my friend Cole. Similar with Black 2, I only used a party of four. Again, the music is top notch, and some great battle animations. Unfortunately petered out at Ever Grande City when I stopped taking the bus to/from work (my main time to play).
River City Ransom Lolololololol
Seriously, so silly and fun. Didn't play it much though (maybe an hour when Sam was in town).
* That much. ** Yes, I'm going to do this for the whole article. I don't care. tDR 4 LYFE *** See what I did there?!? ;)

What is 3-D puff embroidery?
Frequent questions about this embroidery technique gave us the opportunity to write a little text here.
Puncher and sticker often have to struggle with the creation of such logos. The quality of such embroidery is a combination of excellent digitization and superior embroidery technology. Especially in 3-D embroidery.
Most 3-D parts are almost always made on 6-panel hats. Embroidering here is quite tricky and usually relatively problematic. In addition, customers are often influenced by very unusual designs. What most consumers don't know is that many of these hats are "flat" stitched and then built into the hats, which certainly doesn't make it any easier.
Certainly (especially with regard to the size of the design) you can do more on a hat plate than on a finished cap.
Here are some tips:
10 tips for excellent 3D embroidery
Use a fairly large ballpoint pen needle. These make larger holes than other pointed or sharp objects. This makes it easier to perforate the foam and ensures that the foam is cut correctly when sewing. It is then also easier to tear off the excess foam.
Tighten the top tension to prevent the lower thread from getting tangled under the design.
Maybe it is necessary to slow down the machine. Time and experience will help you determine the optimal speed.
Always do a test sample before the production run. Use the same type of materials as used for production. Potential problems can be localized in this way prior to production.
Thinner sheets of foam may create less loft, although these are easier to work with.
The upper layers of the logos are intended for puff embroidery and should have more density than the lower layers. Most embroidery machines can be set to make undercuts thicker. A thick layer of satin stitches also enhances the pouf.
Use a needle that perforates the foam so that it can be easily removed. The more the foam is perforated. The easier it will be to tear it off.
If a small piece of foam has been left behind, then use a heat gun or hair dryer over the finished design. If the tissue does not respond well to heat, use tweezers to remove the excess foam.
Puff foam can be used on a variety of fabrics, but works best with flat fabrics, such as hat material. That doesn't compete with the foam. Plush fabrics that have a high degree of loft on their own will result in a less noticeable 3D effect.
Avoid embroidering puff pastry on delicate fabrics. Designs for foam Embroidery Services in UAE require more density, which a finer fabric can tear.

Dr Killova Mecha Psychologist
“Good morning, I am Dr Killova of the Krupp Institute for Mecha-Psychology, and I am here to counsel you on your mecha partners. I understand that you have recorded sub-optimal responses from several of your machines in recent wars, and your chief technician feels the machine spirits may be troubled by your choices in equipment and armament.”
The doctor looked like Tory’s blond cousin, and presented herself with the sort of professional calm that immediately put me on edge. I was a pilot, I jocked the biggest steel in mecha galaxy, 100 ton monsters that ate small cities and crapped starships. I didn’t believe in the cult of the machine, or the machine spirit, or anything other than the hard statistics, and the statistics were that some of my machines were performing far below the mean, and consistently so.
She slid the data slate across from me and the numbers flashed as she spoke.
“Your Boreas are a good example. You have to understand their nature before you can understand their needs. They are not all the same. Skadi is a killer, she only wants to kill. She will always fire, she is the white huntress, and lives only to kill. She will critical kill more often than the other Boreas, but will be uncaring as to whether or not she takes damage. If you keep any engines with kickback on her, she will destroy herself in her aggression, so she will perform better on point, maximized for speed and critical kill than at any other point. Agier is different, his is a cold spirit, he stalks with greater patience, he will seek to use surgical placement of his strikes to finish the weak, or to disable the strongest of an untouched foe. He should anchor your second rank, with enough trample shields to allow him to stay close to the front rank and learn from them. Bubbaduck needs lots of regen. Bubba will step into the fray and just start swinging, he will stack damage on his enemies, without worrying about his own. Fill him with engines to keep him healing and he will cheerfully keep swinging while tottering on his last leg.”
I opened my mouth to say that was nonsense when the data from their performance in my unlimited, single and double rainbow lineups flashed in front of me and bore out the truth. Damn. Its just a Boreas, aren’t they all the same?
She highlighted my Regis.
“Bun Bun is your personal mecha, and has been for years. When you gave the point to Skadi, it hurt him, and when transferred to another pilot, he showed a greater tendency to rush forward and die without firing a shot. When you are behind the controls, Bun Bun has the highest critical kill, engages more targets per salvo than any other mecha in your force, and has almost as great a chance to freeze enemy mecha out of sheer fear than even your best Boreas. Placed in the second or third rank, Bun Bun will seldom fire, as without the pride of being in the first rank, the rage that is Bun Bun’s soul is cold, and the machine itself is sluggish. Being a Regis, its defense is its attack speed and ferocity; it does not have the shielding to await others attacks as a counter puncher. Nidhogg and Penguin are happy hunters in the later ranks, predators seeking out the weak and damaged, or attacking with surprise new foes as they step forward, but any rank other than front will leave Bun Bun slow to fire.”
I understand that she is on to something, I had tried moving Bun Bun back, but the results had been terrible. I moved Bun Bun back to the front, but pilots had been refusing to take him. I guess I had best move back into his cockpit, and let the White Huntress take back Skadi who had taken on so much of her character already.
Three mecha were highlighted with odd codes. Green boxes surrounded them. The code on the boxes was marked “Hulk”. When I queried my implants for an explanation, they simply said “Hulk smash”.
“Doctor, what does this Hulk code on my Notas, Reaper, and Anubis mean?” I almost was afraid to ask.
She smiled the indulgent smile mothers get when their beloved babies get into something, or cat owners do when the cat destroys something precious simply to amuse itself.
“Ah darling, you have to understand, some mecha are like little boys. They do not like to overthink things, they simply want to smash. Red Comet, your Notas wants to burn the world. Grim Reaper, your Reaper wants to unleash the full rage of his cannon on anyone or anything that he can get under his guns, while Wadsworth, your Anubis has the soul of a master archer, who cares only for the perfection of the flight of his missiles. Each of these mecha has the capacity to get the most out of its weapon class because they understand it on a soul deep level. They care only for the art they make at war, for the perfection of the shot, the unleashing of the ultimate potential of the weapons you give to them. They do not care about your battles, or your war in anything but the most abstract sense. You will waste critical kill equipment on them, likewise advanced repair is of little interest to them. Grace them with enhancements to their weapon class, with damage stacking, and you will see number from them that will make Evil Santa shake in his boots, and convince Doctor Drake to take up lawn bowling over world conquest. If you ask them to be strategic snipers, you will be bitterly disappointed as they will forget every other need in their endless quest for the perfect shot.”
Oh great, what I had assumed were professional war machines were actually something like berserkers, or performance artists who paint in mayhem. Well, I guess I could pull my critical kill equipment from them, and concentrate on their damage stacking or weapon specialist kit. I looked at the numbers they were putting out, and they had generated an amazing list of shot numbers.
I was just beginning to think this was a good news visit when the doctor cleared her throat to get my attention.
“About Ferdinand” She began, then clasped her hands in front of herself and looked me right in the eye. “You are going to have to give up on your quest to make that Antithesis into a killing machine. He has not got the cold killer instinct to be a critical killer, nor the hot red rage to be a damage stacker. Your Antithesis is a pacifist”
I opened my mouth to object, Ferdinand was a born warrior, his ability to stay alive in a firefight had often left him the lone member of his line still remaining, and several of his strikes had bought time for his squadmates by freezing two mecha to buy time for my pilots to eject. Come to think of it, that was the only round he fired. Once his fellow pilots had ejected, his remaining shots consistently missed.
I couldn’t believe it “You have got to be kidding! There is no such thing as a pacifist mecha, the very definition of mecha is aggressive killing machine. I mean to be a pacifist mecha is to be the…” I trailed off as the ironic answer occurred to me.
The doctor finished it for me “Yes. To be a pacifist is to be the Antithesis of a fighting mecha. Tell me, how did you come to possess Ferdinand?”
I felt like an idiot answering this one. It was all so clear now. “We captured him intact from Dr Drake, I mean we blew up his whole attacking formation but we recovered him intact, all ammunition still onboard with signs the pilot just punched out and left when the mecha just shut down mid battle. There weren’t any signs we even hit it. Ah heck, I guess I can sell him to one of the academies, he would be a good trainer mecha, and he performs well in simulations. I mean, he really won’t let anyone get hurt”
That was life in this Mecha Galaxy, take mecha as you find them, don’t try forcing them to be what you want.
