When I was taking out movies machine gun preacher sounded familiar so I grabbed it
Yeah it was familiar because I watched a bunch of it years ago and didn’t like it. Still don’t like it. Gave it 40ish minutes and was like I got piles of movies I ain’t wasting my time with this; pulled it out and put it back in the case

Sister Michael
She drives a DeLorean. She does judo on Fridays. She likes a good statue and despises the French. Her full nun name is Sister George Michael, after the guy from Wham!. She is the fiercest nun you’ll ever come across and, if you’re attending Lady Immaculate College, she’s the woman in charge. So whatever you do, if you’re feeling anxious or worried or just need a chat: don’t come crying to her.
joined the nunnery for the free accommodation?
she does love a good statue it has to be said
She is the headmistress of a catholic school <3
sister michael so reminds me of the nuns who taught me. they're tough and sometimes a little harsher than a woman who dedicated her life to god should be but they're also wonderful people. i had a nun teacher who was 60 years old and would do handstands. another nun (also in her 60s) told me god was nonbinary. another was really mean and made me cry. (so did the handstand nun.) while the catholic girls school is The Catholic Experience, the school wouldn't have been the same for me or the derry girls without at least one nun who seemed to have sprung up out of the ground fully formed, ageless.

two millimeters | s.r
a/n: this was literally born bc i saw reid lying on the couch in the jet at the end of demons and thought ‘i would literally sit against that wall to watch over him on the way back’ so i wrote it
summary: spencer gets hurt and you’re not leaving his side
cw: season 9 finale spoilers for angels & demons, cm violence, hurt/comfort, unestablished relationship
wc: 0.6k
___________________________________________
two millimeters to the right, and it would’ve hit his carotid.
the sentence replays in your head like a cursed mantra, rendering your other senses useless. you couldn’t hear the doctor say you could see him now, or feel penny tug your arm towards the room. and you certainly couldn’t believe your eyes when you saw spencer reid in a hospital bed, hooked up to machines and iv drips, with a big fucking gauze dressage on the side of his neck.
you knew your line of work was dangerous, being a federal agent who hunts down serial killers should be enough to prove that. but it never surprised you seeing the panic that overtook all of you when one of your own was hurt.
the pure terror you felt in this moment though, was something without parallel.
two millimeters. two millimeters. two millimeters.
you’re not even sure how it happened. they were on the way to tell the preacher he was innocent, and instead he opens fire on federal agents? it was a cruel twist of fate, spencer doing what he could to protect his people and pushing blake out of the way but getting hit himself. it wasn’t anyone’s fault either, the preacher had military grade machine guns, and spencer would have done what he did for anyone. you made sure to tell blake that.
but your spencer was hurt. and all you wanted to do was take away his pain somehow, and toss it in a river to never be seen again.
two millimeters. two millimeters. two millimeters.
“hey,” you hear a voice pull you out of your head. looking up you’re met with tired soft brown eyes lying down on the jet’s couch, “i’m okay, honey. please go sit on a chair.”
if spencer had all his strength he would lecture you on the dangers of not being properly restrained on an aircraft and the statistics of plane related injuries. but that was the problem, he didn’t have all his strength. and you were not going to let him out of your sight.
which is why you are sitting on the floor of the jet, perched in front of the couch where spencer laid, resting your head on the cushion his head was on, body leaning against couch’s frame. and you planned to stay right there until you landed back in quantico.
“looks like this flight is overbooked,” your section unit chief teased upon seeing you on the ground, “hopefully the brass sees our good work and gives us a bigger jet next year.”
morgan, hotch, even jj offered you their seats to at least get some rest, something you hadn’t had in days.
“i’m fine right here.” you spoke softly.
jj and penny looked at you in concern, but knew you wouldn’t be swayed to move anyway. your stubbornness always acted as a curse and a blessing.
spencer moved his hand to graze your cheek gently, “the doctors fixed me up really good, i promise i’m okay.”
you move your hand to rest on top of his, slowly rubbing your thumb into the curve of his palm, “and i promise i’m okay right here. i’m not moving.”
two millimeters. two millimeters. two millimeters.
two millimeters would haunt you for many years to come, but maybe right now you could use it to measure how much closer you can get to spencer till there’s only two millimeters between you.
spencer knew this was a war he was not winning, and let his hand intertwine with yours. if you weren’t so close to him you might’ve missed the faintest “thank you” escape from his lips. the jet takes off and the two of you are lulled to sleep almost immediately. the rest of the team unspokenly watched over you both, making sure you weren’t rattling around or spencer rolling around too much. and penny couldn’t help but take a few pics to show you later.

Gen Xers on the 90s: Grunge (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots), Britpop (Blur, Pulp, Suede, Supergrass, Oasis, The Verve, Coldplay, Manic Street Preachers, Spacehog, etc), alternative music (Radiohead, Björk, PJ Harvey, Weezer, Pavement, The Cranberries, R.E.M., The Smashing Pumpkins, Stereolab, Jane's Addiction, Yo la tengo, Beck, Garbage, Fugazi, Nine Inch Nails, Bush, etc), electronic music: trance, techno, etc (Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Aphex Twin, Air, etc), Shoegaze/Dream Pop (My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Lush, Ride, Cocteau Twins, Mazzy Star, Pale Saints, Catherine Wheel, Cranes, Chapterhouse, etc), Trip Hop (Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, DJ Shadow, Sneaker Pimps, etc), rock (Guns n' Roses, Metallica, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Megadeth, Faith No More, Aerosmith, Tool, etc), the era of one hit wonder pop rock songs, and so much more other stuff.
Late Millenials and Gen Zers on the 90s: Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and N'Sync.
The funniest part about it? What the latter claim summarize a whole decade in music are acts that only appeared in 1999 (yes, only until 1999! There were actually 9 years of music before them, you know?).
Even funnier? Madonna, The Spice Girls, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Whitney Houston, Jamiroquai, Tupac, Dr.Dre, Kriss Kross, House of Pain, MC Hammer, Paula Abdul, Celine Dion, George Michael, TLC, Enigma, No Doubt, Colour Me Badd, EMF, Fatboy Slim, Brandy, Sheryl Crow, Lisa Loebb, , etc, etc, etc, etc had much more bigger hits lasting months in the pop charts than any of these artists they love to mention.
Like why??? Why?? It makes me want to smash my head against the wall. This is historical revisionism. Please just STOP it, stop describing a decade you didn't experience if you were younger than 12 years old.

But the viciousness of the primary season had been getting to him. Nearly a year before the March elections, ads began to appear in Rogers’ district castigating him not simply as a RINO but as a closet liberal who supported gun control and Shariah law. (Rogers was especially peeved by an ad that photoshopped his signature white cowboy hat onto a headshot of Joe Biden.) Some of the attacks originated from his challenger’s campaign, while others were sponsored by organizations with grassroots-sounding names, like Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Texas Gun Rights and Texas Family Project. By the time voters headed to the polls, they could have been forgiven for thinking that Rogers had disappointed a suite of conservative groups. In reality, Rogers had disappointed two men: Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks, billionaires who have made their fortunes in the oil industry. Over the past decade, the pair have built the most powerful political machine in Texas — a network of think tanks, media organizations, political action committees and nonprofits that work in lock step to purge the Legislature of Republicans whose votes they can’t rely on. Cycle after cycle, their relentless maneuvering has pushed the statehouse so far to the right that consultants like to joke that Karl Rove couldn’t win a local race these days. Brandon Darby, the editor of Breitbart Texas, is one of several conservatives who has compared Dunn and Wilks to Russian oligarchs. “They go into other communities and unseat people unwilling to do their bidding,” he says. “You kiss the ring or you’re out.” Like the Koch brothers, the Mercer family and other conservative billionaires, Dunn and Wilks want to slash regulations and taxes. Their endgame, however, is more radical: not just to limit the government but also to steer it toward Christian rule. “It’s hard to think of other megafunders in the country as big on the theocratic end of the spectrum,” says Peter Montgomery, who oversees the Right Wing Watch project at People for the American Way, a progressive advocacy group. Texas, which has few limits on campaign spending, is home to a formidable army of donors. Lately Dunn has outspent them all. Since 2000, he and his wife have given more than $29 million to candidates and PACs in Texas. Wilks and his wife, who have donated to many of the same PACs as Dunn, have given $16 million. Last year, Dunn and his associated entities provided two-thirds of the donations to the state Republican Party. The duo’s ambitions extend beyond Texas. They’ve poured millions into “dark money” groups, which do not have to disclose contributors; conservative-media juggernauts (Wilks provided $4.7 million in seed capital to The Daily Wire, which hosts “The Ben Shapiro Show”); and federal races. Dunn’s $5 million gift to the Make America Great Again super PAC in December made him one of Donald Trump’s top supporters this election season, and he has quietly begun to invest in efforts to influence a possible second Trump administration, including several linked to Project 2025. Rogers believes he provoked the ire of the Dunn and Wilks machine for two reasons. He refused to support a school voucher bill that would funnel taxpayer dollars to private schools, and he voted to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton, one of the machine’s most powerful allies. (Paxton, who did not respond to requests for comment, was impeached in part for misusing his office to help a friend under federal investigation.)

today for six sentence sunday i will be posting six sentences from the outline of one of the fics I've been working on for mashwood week! i know, i know, i don't post outline bits but this thing is unhinged enough it could be its own fic in and of itself.
It's for Day One of @mashwoodweek's event, and I chose the "Soulmate AU" prompt. If i manage to get it up this week, hell yes, if not, y'all get to see it in a couple weeks when its done (hopefully) (is it actually six sentences? no but sentences aren't real in outlines)
~~
(wolfwood is impressed by the mark lina left on the guy’s face. He’s gonna fuck up a man for a kid he’s only just met and he straight up tells her she did a good job with that kick. eriks protests but meryl shuts him up with a shoe to his shin)
“Let us handle this,” Meryl says. “He’s got a problem with people who think they can hurt kids.”
Eriks tries to protest, but Wolfwood is out of the bar before he can, Punisher slung over his shoulders and eyes hidden behind Vash’s glasses and Vash’s old coat as his own.
The gang – and the Fake Vash, Wolfwood knows immediately that he’s fake, everything about the man is wrong – laugh about the fact that they sent a preacher out instead of Lina, especially when Wolfwood talks to them to appeal to them. When they don’t agree, he’s like “Hm. Shame.” and unleashes the Punisher, revealing that she’s a Massive Fucking Machine Gun that he uses to shoot out all the tires of their vehicles and injure a good number of the raiders, chasing them off.
Lina thinks Meryl and Wolfwood are Cool As Hell (they are) and Eriks is just pathetically grateful things didn’t get worse. There’s something so familiar about him, something that makes Meryl & WW think of Vash, but he’s probably not their idiot.
Probably.

Man walks along the railroad track
He's going some place and there's no turnin' back
The Highway Patrol chopper comin' up over the ridge
Man sleeps by a campfire under the bridge
The shelter line stretchin' around the corner
Welcome to the new world order
Families sleepin' in their cars out in the Southwest
No job, no home, no peace, no rest, no rest
And the highway is alive tonight
Nobody's foolin' nobody as to where it goes
I'm sitting down here in the campfire light
Searchin' for the ghost of Tom Joad
He pulls his prayer book out of a sleepin' bag
The preacher lights up a butt and takes a drag
He's waitin' for the time
When the last shall be first and the first shall be last
In a cardboard box 'neath the underpass
With a one way ticket to the promise land
With a hole in your belly and a gun in your hand
Lookin' for a pillow of solid rock
Bathin' in the city's aqueducts
And the highway is alive tonight
Nobody's foolin' nobody as to where it goes
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
With the ghost of old Tom Joad
Then Tom said "Ma, whenever ya seen a cop beatin' a guy
Wherever a hungry new born baby cries
Wherever there's a fight against the blood and hatred in the air
Look for me ma, I'll be there
Wherever somebody's strugglin' for a place to stand
For a decent job or a helpin' hand
Wherever somebody is strugglin' to be free
Look in their eyes ma, you'll see me"
You'll see me, you'll see me
You'll see me, you'll see me
You'll see me, you'll see me
You'll see me, you'll see me
And the highway is alive tonight
Nobody's foolin' nobody as to where it goes
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
With the ghost of Tom Joad
