Favourite Crew Chief: Mach Matsuo

I could finally post this one day late 😅

Later I'll also make the one for today

Anyway, as his bio says, Matsuo used to be one of the greatest Japanese champions and he used to race in Europe too, but then he decided to start a new carrier as coach and so Shu became his pupil

I like this bc it sounds like Doc and Lightning's dynamic, but here the pupil is actually disciplined. Pretty fitting for a Japanese team 😆

Mitsuoka Yamata

Current oyabun of the Orochi branch family of the Mitsuoka-gumi (the Mitsuoka yakuza)

Mach Matsuo has had ties to the Mitsuoka group and helped him gain a foot in the door in his early racing career

Shu Todoroki inherited the ties from his mentor once he retired and is courteous and cautious at the same time

The Mitsuoka-gumi have a vested interest in Shu's racing career and will make sure that any obstacle to that is swiftly dealt with

When Shu has a home race, Yamata always pays a visit to the Todoroki's at Mount Asama

Also has kept tabs on Shu's relationship to Raoul just in case for a bit of insurance for cooperation

Has extensive body modifications (tongue split, scales on the frame, eye surgery to look more serpentine, teeth filing to make fangs, etc)

Considers themselves a more male leaning bisexual but has had relationships with lady cars

Ever heard of Prince Lindworm? A Norwegian fairy tale that plays out similar to Beauty and the Beast.

A Prince Lindworm AU in which the twins Raoul and Michèle Caroule (in the concept art for Cars 2, the French rally racer was originally going to be a female to reference Michèle Mouton before it was changed into a Sebastian Loeb analogue but retooled into an OC in my interpretation) using two magical roses as advised by a witch. Unfortunately the mother Caroule messes up the ritual and Raoul is born as a giant serpentine dragon. He demands to be married off first and devours any potential brides that cannot bear to be with him.

Then Shu Todoroki, the adopted son of Mach Matsuo (vassal to the Caroule family) is chosen for as the bride for the dragon. Shu then goes to seek the witch that kicked off the whole thing and prepares accordingly.

He wears ten layers of robes and after the wedding, demands that the dragon shed his own skin as he does his own clothing. When the lindworm runs out of skins to shed, Shu then beats him with whips covered in lye until they break and rewraps the dragon in the shed skins and holds him as an apology.

By the next morning, Shu finds himself asleep next to the crown prince Raoul Caroule (also folding in @aurora-ze-aquarius's headcanon that Raoul is FtM trans due to the magical ritual).

ooh this sounds super cool! I love fantasy aus especially those similar to fairytales and I’ve had my share of cars fairytale aus, this sounds rlly interesting and I’d love to hear more about it. I’m not really that well read on the world grand prix racers beside lightning and francesco, so I’ll have to do more research on them and possibly rewatch cars 2 lolol. Thanks for the ask!!

quarepusher and WARP records released a video titled Z-Machines, comprised of hand built robots showcasing the stupendous chops of the robot guitarist, drummer and keyboard player.

The video and installation was created in collaboration by the roboticist’s musical producer, Kenjiro Matsuo with Rhizomatiks, directed by Daito Manabe. The three robots, included MACH (Robot guitarist challenging the speed of over BPM1000), ASHURA (Robot drummer that can play the most complex rhythm on 22 drums) and COSMO (Robot keyboard player resembling a future life form) bring the “superhuman prowess” of Z-MACHINES.

Vampire! Raoul Shenanigans (after the WGP debacle and vampire cars are outed)

He's accidentally seen in the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles, or more accurately, not seen in the reflections. Pictures of Shu Todoroki floating in midair do occasionally pop on websites.

One night staying in Shu's house in Mount Asama, Raoul heard a bunch of squeaking noises in the rafters. Upon investigating, both Raoul and Shu found a colony of bats that had taken shelter.

Luckily animal control was called and safely relocated the bats to a nearby cave. One little bat took a liking to Raoul and Shu and refused to leave.

They named the bat Mimi and it stays in the rafters above Shu's room and Raoul can be heard chittering to Mimi on stressful days

Mimi even hangs from Raoul's wings and both of them bare their teeth at each other in a form of play

Shu's donor fuel is taken about every few weeks and stored in a fridge for Raoul to drink if said donor is exhausted from constant feedings.

Raoul can consume other donated fuel, most often from Bruno Motoreau and Mach Matsuo but it's not as filling as Shu's

The wings of Vampire! Raoul are often maintained with both Raoul and Shu working on them. The Frenchie is flexible enough to get to the most of the wings with his saliva while Shu makes sure the crevices are covered and kept shiny.

Once Raoul is called to babysit for Bruno's niece/nephew overnight and he's worried how the kid would react to his new condition.

The kid in fact is absolutely excited about the bat ears, fangs and wings of Raoul. The cold temperature also is a boon for an energetic child to rest after playing.

Raoul is bold enough to parkour and fly with the kid hanging on with dear life, with permission from Bruno's relations of course.

Raoul keeps tabs on the other vampire racers through video calls. They mostly bitch about any new things that vampire cars can and cannot do.

Frannie almost burnt himself to the frame when he tried visiting the Vatican. He had to receive a letter from the Pope to be properly invited in.

Max and Nigel are still experimenting on which foods and fuels can be infused with donor cycled fuel

Long Ge is testing whether native Chinese anti ghost measures work on his vampiric state. So far he's been repelled from Buddhist Taoist and Confucianism temples and shrines and needs an invitation from the caretakers and owners to come int. No word if jiangshi talismans or the Bagua ward/immobilize him off yet.

Lewis and Jeff are comfortably retired and visit each other's homes. When Jeff overheats, he lays on Lewis to cool off and both of them just are in the moment.

Unexpected problems of the Crew Chiefs and respective mers involved

Based on this post and a bit more on the staff of the WGP Aquarium perhaps with C.H.R.O.M.E and the spies as researchers in the field in the next post.

Giuseppe Motorossi- Had to install tinted glass in Francesco's tank and put up warnings for staff and visitors not to bring any reflective items near at all. (This a fate worse than death for betta and sulked for a while until Lightning cheered him up, Giuseppe poured himself another glass of wine for another problem of the)

Bruce Boxmann- Keeping Lewis from getting mushy as he crawls out of the tank to drop by at Jeff's tank (luckily right next to his tank) and leaves mucus trails everywhere. Wet floor signs are ever present and absorption mats are everywhere(yet to have any major falls but Brucie is not taking any chances). Underwater connecting tunnels have been trialed but Lewis does not take to them. Also his shark tendencies lead to him chewing on the glass and various non edible objects.

Bruno Motoreau- Thought he was losing his mind that there were two cuttlefish caecilians in Raoul's tank until his twin sister popped up from the coral and also was the reason that the lighting kept going out (having never seen electric lights, she squirted water at them and found herself vexed when they glowed after a few days after).

Austin Littleton- Nigel unintentionally streaks au naturale after hiding his seal pelt and going for a stroll on land. Austin is trying to at least get him in swim trunks since the selkie has a profound dislike of human clothes.

Petro Cartalina- Miguel's an adrenaline junkie so tiring him out is quite the task. If not enough energy is expended from the swordfish, he goes into fish zoomies that cause whirlpools and just make a mess out of the sand and people get splashed from below.

John Lassetire- Jeff is a similar case with Miguel as he needs more enrichment of the mind rather than the body. When a worker accidentally left a Spotify playlist of Kpop on during cleaning, Jeff had a new language to learn (note sing horribly) and made his own dance to the music. If only Lewis could join in on the fun (John is determined to not make that happen at all costs)

Cruz Besouro- An unfortunate encounter with a pink dolphin plush reignited her vigilance against those smug assholes. Also warnings are on her tank of hiding any dolphin releated paraphernalia in eyesight of her.

Otto Bonn- Max is one of the more placid mers in the tank. 10/10 mer of the month. Getting him regularly cleaned is a logistical nightmare that only Otto can handle.

Mach Matsuo- Not to anyone's surprise, Shu is very docile and doesn't make a fuss. The one exception to that was when Raoul snuck into Shu's tank and in blind panic, he bit off one of Raoul's arms (his hectocotylus) and to his horror liking the taste. Raoul then perceived it as an invitation of mating and tried his best to court the eel. Every day Mach finds Raoul showing off his color changing on his body and changing eye color to woo the reluctant mer. Mach has yet to find a way to break the mating display before things get real ugly and uncomfortable to explain to visitors.

Brian Gearslooski- Rip is an anxious manta ray that doesn't like being photographed by any camera. Smartphones, Polaroids, even the best that nature photography could use can't seem to catch a decent full shot of him. Brian is gently teaching Rip to be a bit more comfortable with other people with baby steps. It helps that Carla has grown a soft spot for Rip and makes a show to distract the visitors form bothering Rip too much.

Doc Hudson and Mater- Mater acts more like Lightning's best friend instead of his caretaker. Often sneaks him into Francesco's tank for reasons unknown to both mers. Doc on the other hand is no nonsense and will shoo off any clowns invited for a kid's birthday party. He doesn't care that you paid several grand for Yoiks the Clown, no clown will get near Lightning as long as he lives.

L'Ankou Raoul Caroule

Now I've got another supernatural AU for our Frenchie rally racer. It would be called the Shinigami Shenaniganery AU.

Raoul Caroule is L'Ankou, a French folkloric rendition of a grim reaper (though in Breton rather than near Strasbourg). They are often times described as assistants to Death and help gather the souls to help them pass on to the afterlife. Often they are describes as a lean skeletal figure with white hair and wearing either black robes or a burial shroud and wields a backwards scythe.

Taking inspiration from Durarara!, Raoul's stead is his tricolored 2006 Citroen C4 WRC that drives and is only perceived by people about to die and otherwise not noticed. He also is apprenticed to the actual Grim Reaper, Bruno Motoreau and his mentor had interacted with Shu's mentor, Mach Matsuo during his near death experiences.

It all started when Shu had a particularly difficult car accident during aLe Mans 24 Hr race and was rushed into the hospital. The Japanese racer kept seeing the faint figure of a snowy white head of hair and the most piercing blue eyes following him.

During his recovery in the hospital, the ghostly skeletal figure occasionally pops in and mumbles about his time not yet to come. When he mentions the figure to Mach-sensei, a chill runs through the older racer's spine as he was retiring, he caught the sight of a child with the same white hair and blue eyes accompanying Bruno.

The Mitsuoka Orochi-gumi

Wouldn't it be fun if there were more criminal groups besides the lemons in the World of Cars.

The Mitsuoka Zaibatsu controls the Japanese criminal underworld and has a vested interest in Shu Todoroki. Mach Matsuo had already been tangling with the yakuza group ever since he got into racing and now his pupil has to deal with them too.

Unbeknownst to either crew chief or racer, the Orochi branch of the Mitsuoka are fond of the Le Motor Prototype 8 and taken over the majority of operations involving Shu Todoroki. Including spying on his dalliances with Raoul Caroule.

Just like their mythical namesake, eight Mitsuoka Orochi heads control the entire group and are nicknamed after snakes.

Cobra, Habu, Krait, Mamushi: these were the heads that dealt with day to day activities act as the main working body.

Tsuchinoko, Kiyohime, Uwabami and Yamata (reserved for the leader of all of the other heads and bears the full Yamata no Orochi tattoo): they are the public faces for the Orochi branch of the Mitsuoka Zaibatsu.

But all Orochi branch members share one thing.

All members have body modifications to further resemble their animal counterparts. Whether that be teeth modifications, body work, eye work, split tongue modification or even combinations of all of the above.

Hiya there!

So I was wondering. Among the WGP (GSO) spies, who went to the Academy for proper education and training (basically like Finn's fanon backstory), and who among them joined because their skills impressed the heads of the organization (basically Long Ge and his obsession with venom and stuff)?

There's quite a few that joined out of sheer talent.

Max Schnell of course for his tech savvy (read. He accidentally hacked into GSO out of sheer curiosity and determination), Raoul's athletic experiences and later then taught explosives and demolition by the GSO. Long Ge basically joined out of sheer boredom and that the GSO also needs to keep an eye on his developments in the Gonggong virus in case he got bored and left to sell GSO info to the highest bidder.

Others such as Jeff and Lewis started as freshmen basically and then rose up the ranks as a pair that overcame almost everything the academy threw at them. Miguel and Carla also rose through the academy through their test scores and physical demonstrations individually. Rip is a rising star in the academy and he joins the more senior spies as a junior.

Others slipped into overlooked positions more quietly like Flash's position as designer and tailor to the spies. Memo got the position to trial that kindness and empathy are more effective in interrogations than violence and psychological warfare. Vitaly also got the position since the previous forgery spy personally trained him and named him next in line.

Shu Todoroki is a special case as a collaboration between the GSO and the Todoroki Yakuza clan. Back when Shu was little, the Todoroki clan were nearly wiped out by an alliance of rival families. The GSO were notified and assisted the Todoroki's in arresting the families. Both worked a compromise for the Todoroki's to reorganize themselves as a legal corporation and that Shu was sent to the GSO to train and become a spy under Mach Matsuo.

Francesco is kind of considered a nepo baby since Mama Bernoulli was a legendary spy when she was young. He had to face quite a bit of flak and scorn from GSO students and teachers once his mother retired to raise him after assassins killed his father. He had to work hard on his own behalf to make his own name in the GSO. Lightning also shared the same nepo baby spy problems with Francesco and both are seen discussing their mentors adventures and plots and good-natured ribbing each other while at it.

Nigel joined the GSO to ease some of the family shame of profiting off of stolen historical artifacts and art. He's still learning how to operate in the field and would rather stay at the GSO headquarters.

Vampire Car Au Ship (RaoShu)

Vampire Raoul Çaroule x Donor Shu Todoroki

Technically they were dating a bit before Raoul came back as a vampire

Luckily Shu and Raoul had a biting kink that made their relationship shift less jaring

Raoul's new spiked tires let him do parkour basically everywhere = new places to explore and fuel his adrenaline junkie engine or at least the husk of it

Much to Shu's worry about him expending his limited fuel supply but Raoul takes care to be back at about near empty to feed from Shu back at home

Mach Matsuo and Bruno Motoreau had inklings of a relationship between their proteges but both were told after Raoul turned

Raoul's marking bites on Shu aren't covered up and Shu proudly displays them along with the scratches from Raoul's tires

Raoul's favorite time to feed off Shu is when Shu is ready to go to sleep and he bites into his fuel tank to help him relax with the healing saliva

When morning comes around, Shu tucks in Raoul and sets up the blackout curtains to make sure no sunlight disturbs him

If it's a relaxing day off from training, Shu will read manga, play video games or watch anime alongside Raoul

Both particularly like pointing and laughing at the various vampire traits in the latter and comparing them against Western vampire media (Carsverse Twilight is a particularly easy target to mock)

Sometimes Raoul misses the sunlight, shivering next to a burning hot Shu as he contents himself with pictures and videos of sunrise and sunset

Shu once tried drinking Raoul's fuel to see what would happen when he got a little scrape

It ended up with the nastiest tasting fuel he ever had and both learned that vampire car fuel is viable in a short time frame outside of the vampire frame (only minutes til it spoils)

With that knowledge in mind, the next time Shu supped from Raoul: the taste was a bit coppery and left a thin film of iron on his mouth (not the best nor not the worst for Shu's taste)

Sometimes Shu kisses Raoul after he is fed to see if his fuel changes taste (the addition of the vampire car saliva chills the fuel and adds a mild sweetness)
