I know we’ve all kinda drifted into other fandoms etc. But I want you all to know that when I see you on my dash it still gives me so much happiness even if I have NO idea what you’re talking about. 😜

I miss the Mac days. I’m so glad I met you all!

Oh, your tags once for 2x09 - I saved those for writing fuel (how has that worked out, huh, Danielle? Hmmm, it didn't work out, did it?!) ANYWAY....

I love Murdoc, and I love, love, love David Dastmalchian. Considering they are two excellent episodes against each other—ajsldkjflakjdf—that's a hard choice for me.

I'm completely blank on how and why I started watching MacGyver or joined the fandom. I know my first live episode was 3x02, but I can't remember what dragged me into it all. I just showed up and made a home, haha.

Yeah, Wrench did the same thing. There are definitely people waiting until the end to vote, which upsets the poll. Quiet fandom?!

But the episode is so, so good. We have our introduction with Charlie, our first encounter with the Ghost, and some very good Mac army-days background—and the end is so adorable if not heartbreaking (why does this show seem way more angsty than the original? Oh, wait...) It is also hard to do propaganda for because it is like War Room + Ship. How do you get excited about an episode that holds a lot of pain but love?

I think it is fair to say it isn't all about the whump (as much as it is all about the whump *lmao*). If I redid my top ten right now, it wouldn't change much (but maybe a couple episodes would be exchanged). Plus, episodes hit us all different on different levels on different days. It's like music. Or books. I can't just choose ONE or even TEN favorites.

And I'm okay with that. I also understand how my favs don't hit everyone on the same level. Finding out what the fandom really enjoys is eye-opening.

The fact that 2x09 lost in the last like 12 hours is heartbreaking 😭😭 here is to round 4….

Well, that was a shake up I did not see coming. And we had two last minute wins in round three because I think Wrench beat Bullet + Pen in the last few hours of their poll too. It's been fascinating to watch the polls. Like I love Wrench. It was my pick in all three rounds so far, but I didn't realized it is apparently more loved than I thought. It has held it's own against some heavy hitters. I thought both 3x13 and 2x11 would have taken it out for sure. Likewise, would have called it in favor of 2x09, that is a surprise. I voted for 2x09 and waved a sad goodbye at 3x02. I guess it just goes to show that your faves aren't safe.

And there are way more season 3 episodes still in the running than I anticipated. I thought 3x11 and 3x13 would still be around because those are pretty well loved and there is a lot of whump + whump potential so that's not too surprising. But if you follow that logic then 2x09 should definitely have won the match. Might have to take another crack at 2x09 (and 2x11) in fic format to honor the fallen episodes.

I am waiting with bated breath to see the 1x08 and 2x04 poll. This one is sad but it's a surprisingly easy vote for me. I have to vote Corkscrew. I'm not sure if it's my favorite episode but it is the episode that dragged me kicking and screaming into the fandom.

i am genuinely tweaking over the fact that macgyver (2016) practically glosses over the fact that Mac was straight up!!! Lying!!!! to bozer for YEARS.

this would have been such good material to use to explore Mac and Bozer's relationship, and how complex the situation was bc YES it feels like a betrayal but it's also Mac simply protecting Bozer from his dangerous life and still keeping him close despite the danger, despite the very real possibility of bozer accidentally finding out or simply using bozer to get to Mac.

NOT TO MENTION. Boze was Mac's only link to something not remotely related to his job!!! the only bit of normal in his chaotic life!!!!

both of them having to find their footing again after the reveal bc nothing can go back to normal. like. bozer thinking back to all the weird injuries mac returned home with from his think tank business trips, all the lies, all the secrecy, all the time. justified hurt on bozer's side as well as understanding bc if the roles were reversed wouldn't bozer also lie to keep his closest friend safe? understanding the reason doesn't make the years of lies hurt any less.

I was aiming for a flashfic so I could finish it before the Olympics actually ended. It got a tag bit longer. But! Deadline MET!

So. I'm rewatching Macgyver (2016) S1 while working on the fam's Christmas presents and I need to put this out here.

I love Ep. 8 Corkscrew. Of course I do. We get introduced to Murdoc, there's tension and angst and an openly worried Jack. It's great. There's just the tiny little fact that in the overarching plot the episode makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER! And it's bugging me. So much.

Now. At the point in time the episode is set, it does work. Murdoc gets hired to kill Mac and team. Supposedly by Nikki. Then Nikki claims the shady organisation in the background hired him instead. Sure. Both can be accepted as possibilities.

But not with the knowledge that we gain later in the season when we learn that Nikki is a super secret triple crossing deep undercover agent working to uproot the Organisation. Which is led by Thornton. The same Thornton who was shot by Murdoc to proof a point. The same Thornton who was part of the killer's contract.

And that's where my brain just gos WTF?! How is this supposed to make any sense???

Let's talk this through step by step.

Murdoc gets hired to kill Mac, Jack, Riley and Thornton.

If Nikki is playing for the good guys and had to set a killer on her former team to keep her cover, then it's damn cold to hire the best of the best. Never mind the whole song and dance about how she insists it wasn't her.

If the Organisation hired Murdoc, then why was Thornton part of the contract?! Why did she get shot and not Jack who would pose the bigger threat in the junkyard. We get told that Thornton leads the Organisation. So she put a contract on herself??? Why? It would have been entirely believable if the contract was only on the field agents.

It makes no sense! Especially considering that in Ep. 7, right before this, they set up El Noche as a big bad and even explicitly state that he put a prize on Mac's head. It would have been so easy to tie these two incidents together. Instead we get two options that both lack any kind of logic.

This really annoys me.

Summary: When Jack gets a call from an old friend, Matty Webber, telling him about a job opportunity with an organization called ‘DXS’, he isn’t sure what to expect. What he doesn't expect is being hired as the partner of the top agent - also the son of Director James MacGyver. Jack navigates getting to the bottom of what’s going on with his new partner when it seems like what looked like arrogance and nepotism might be something more dangerous. Along the way Riley and Bozer are brought in to Operation Investigate Our Boss to try and get to the bottom of what’s wrong and DXS and who is to blame.

big shoutout to the macgyver (2016) fandom because y'all constantly amaze me. i love it here so much because of how kind everyone is in here and how much they genuinely love and want to expand upon the show and it's canon, exploring so deep into characters that I feel like I know them better than the writers themselves do. if you're a part of this fandom, even if you've only interacted with a few posts or fics os like to lurk, i love you. i love it here so much and thank you to everyone here. thankyouthankyouthankyou <33

I asked Jamie the same thing a few days, but I want a wider range of thoughts. My opinion personally is that I think Matty looks and (most of the time) behaves older, she’s definitely got a maturer face too, but in reality Sandrine Holt is older than Meredith Eaton by two years. Plus Patti has such tired wine mom/aunt™️ energy, I could see it being her too.
