. . I struggled with MDD (Major Depressive Disorder) for a little over two years and began healing around one year ago, so certain pieces of content are my own emotions projected onto Himari - though I try to keep it to a minimum.

No one was teaching me English after moving to another country so I learned by copying other people - including tone, accent, sentence structure, lip movements, etc. - and because of that I now unconsciously pick up the habits of those around me, leading me to have the same lisp/slurring as Mingyu in both Korean and English.

Welcome dearest lambs, to the second part of Ace and Yuu's tragic story~ The title is from "Hey Lover" by The Daughters of Eve, and the lyrics used in this small fic is from "Est-ce Que Tu M'Aimes?" by Maître Gims. Yes, the Yuu is french. Enjoy!

Summary: Ace ignores Yuu when he passes by them with a group of older students. He comes back later but it goes half as he planned.

Friday afternoons were usually packed for Yuu. Between classes, taking care of Grim, homework and all the work Crowley gave them, there wasn't a moment of respite. However today was different. A teacher fell ill so class was dismissed, there were no lingering homework, Grim was merely napping today and Crowley hadn't assigned anything to them. Truly the best Friday they had had in months.

"Afin de te voir, même dans un sommeil éternel."

Yuu was taking the opportunity to catch up on their lecture. With Azul's overblot recently and busy schedule, their books had been unfortunately abandoned. Sat under the shade of a tree to avoid the sun, they ran their fingers through Grim's fur, gasping softly and mumbling under their breath as they went through their book.

"Même dans un sommeil éternel."

They soft noise of a conversation grew closer and disturb Yuu from their lecture. Why were these students so loud? Raising their head, they finally caught a glimpse of the group. Heartslabyul students, older ones, according to Yuu's intuition - and their intuition was never wrong. But also… Among their voices, they recognized one of the laughs. It was a cheeky, mischievous one, but still very light. Yuu closed their book and stood up to go greet Ace as they called his name.

"Même dans un sommeil éternel."

But he barely spared them a glance. Though their eyes met for the slightest of moments, Ace tried to convey a message. "Sorry." His lips were slightly curved down, his eyes doing their best to look apologetic, as he pushed his hand through his hair. But his gaze quickly moved from Yuu back to the students, leaving behind a confused, sad and heartbroken Yuu. They knew why this had happened. Despite stopping overblots and being at least appreciated by some housewardens, they were still a magicless stranger from another word, with nothing but their identity. And some students still preferred not associating themselves with Yuu. Ace valued his reputation in the school. Despite how often he and Deuce had been seen with Yuu, he still chose this.

"J'étais sensé t'aimer, mais j'ai vu l'averse."

Yuu shook their head to chase away the thought, it had probably had only been a mistake. Surely. They decided to head back to Ramshackle and spare themselves the embarrassement of possibly crying in public. They packed their books and gently picked Grim, avoiding waking him up at all costs. He was still asleep as Yuu made their way to Ramshackle. They avoided anyone they could. They didn't want anyone's questions, anyone's pity. They wanted nothing. Maybe something. But they couldn't have it.

"J'ai cligné des yeux, tu n'étais plus la même."

Yuu spent the next hour arranging the bookshelf. Despite not having much money for books, they had managed to get some with Riddle, others with a deal with Sam. Tomes and tomes about the Great Seven, Twisted Wonderland's mythology, other great stories, fairy tales, and finally, magic, magic to bring them back home. Yuu was arranging the books by themes and alphabetical orders. Grim still napped on the couch. A knock interrupted their cleaning session.

"Est-ce que je t'aime?"

They sighed and set down the books that were in their arms in the nearest table.

"Coming." They announced as the knock was repeated.

They opened the door and surprised passed by their eyes for a second, almost imperceptible, before a slight frown replaced their expression. Ace leaned his head to the side and opened a small smile.

"Hey."

"Hey."

Yuu replied but they weren't exactly enthusiastic about seeing Ace. Not after what he had pulled that afternoon.

"J'sais pas si je t'aime."

"I'm sorry about earlier." His smile diminished when he noticed Yuu's frown.

They shook their head and let out a long sigh before moving away from the door and calling Ace in. They moved to the kitchen. Ace followed them.

"I shouldn't have ignored you, I know. I'm just… I'm a bit apprehensive of the upperclassmen and I wanna keep a good appearance…" He leaned on the counter and Yuu sighed yet again, a pained sigh this time.

"Yeah I know. Don't worry." They murmured and looked down at the counter before raising their gaze back to Ace. "Is that all or did you do some bullshit and need to crash here to escape Riddle?" They said lightly, veiling their feelings behind the question. Close your heart.

"Est-ce que je t'aimes?"

"Haha, nah. I do have to get back and finish homework though." He chuckled and smiled at Yuu.

The slight curve of those lips, the little secret dimple, the genuiness of the smile somehow made Yuu's heart skip a beat. They finally opened that smile they had been hiding, though it was a shy one. Ace grinned in return and pulled Yuu closer.

"Aha! I made you smile." He teased them and leaned closer. Yuu leaned in but both stopped before their lips could touch. This wasn't the moment. Despite this, Ace made no move to let go of Yuu and Yuu made no move to get away from Ace. A moment of silence passed by before Ace interrupted it.

"See you later, I guess?" Ace asked, with what seemed to be hopefulness.

"Yeah." Yuu answered and kissed his cheek, making both blush faintly. Ace moved away and waved one last time before leaving. Yuu shook their head and looked at themselves in the mirror nearby. The situation was only worsening.

"J'sais pas si je t'aime."

Why a bilingual playlist? Well because I'm a bilingual guy, for a start, and because my experience with Pokémon X&Y in general and this ship in particular has always been bilingual as well (even trilingual, arguably.) I wanted to put together some of my favorite songs in English for them and introduce English-speaking fans to some of my favorite French songs for them, too. A lot of those songs are songs I've quoted, mentioned, or even used as inspiration for art and fic.

(Why is Augustine on the English side and Lysandre on the French side? Because I thought Lysandre would be offended at the idea of being on the English side while Augustine wouldn't care about it as much.)

It's a song about being in love with a failed idealist. And also the color red is there. What more can I say. (Also, this time it's originally a het song from the POV of a woman singing about a man, which ties it all neatly together, I think.)
