It's remarkable—to other people, it might have been horrific, barbaric even, to watch something that was alive start to change rapidly in its death throes, but Adonis feels a spark of progress, as if there's a question he hadn't thought to ask, answered in a split second as Ezra starts to mutate the fauna. He had expected that he'd be mauled when he entered, but the quickness of the events were a marvel to behold. Adonis starts to take down notes, transcribing what he sees. He tries to catch Ezra's eye as he does this, the small tint of glee in his expression, an explicit okay. Keep going—right up until you feel better.

if all of the blood inside of him hadn't been clamoring to escape, ezra thinks he would have appreciated the pat down more. as it stands, it's nice... but nothing more. still. ugh. as soon as the restraints are off, he pulls himself upright and stretches. just because he enjoys them doesn't mean they don't get sore. obviously, adonis' contraptions aren't built with comfort in mind. and he wouldn't have it any other way! he can only imagine that if the exam table and all its sharp edges aren't necessary, that something even worse has to lurk wherever he's being taken. a man can dream, can't he? that dream isn't broken once he takes a look at what's in this special room, but he does pause to express his confusion. at least the doctor is content to say everything he's planning out loud. he's never been the sort to ask questions where there are assumptions to be made. "you're serious?" he asks instead, still a little taken aback. "you just want me to have at it and see what happens?" but of course he does. adonis is a scientist with more expensive taste than rats. he reaches out to touch the creature, quickly clamping down and sinking his influence into it. the dark veins in his body seem to coalesce through his arm and directly into it, ezra straining with the effort it takes to keep pushing through. he's not killing it, not directly—he's taking a page from the infection's own book and mutating it. except, um... maybe it will kill it if he keeps going like this.
