6.2, Or Step into the Void
With her memories of the World of Darkness, Nemi was ready to face any monstruosity that remained of people. What she did not expect was a castle, and art and faces that begged to be seen together in their proper but lost history. If only the wittiest of them spoke of their past over their hunger. Really, how did the voidsent sustain here?
Tumblr media
Though caution is always best, Nemi was self assured tracing back steps would be easier. Anyone that didn't fight them before wouldn't pick one now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But what surprise to see most faces back, not only that but not extending one step. How come they were so scared if their exertions didn't end them?
She didn't expect the answers to be with the phantom that almost hurt her friends, nor for her eyes to make her heart pound on her chest. She looked unlike anyone she'd ever seen... and carried distance and loneliness in everything she insisted. She spoke only in debts and trades, which made it difficult for Nemi to figure out how to truly ask her for what the party needed among, other things...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Whatever he said, that isn't what a friend is. I'm relieved you're free of him, but I would like to not keep on this subject. Please don't judge me by whatever he thought"
tfw the girl you like turns you off bringing up your creep's obsession. If she really needed to talk about it Nemi could listen but, not now
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A world where no one can die, but feel hungry forever? Sounded like some's fantasy turned into an agonizing nightmare, and Scarmiglione's last words sent a chill up Nemi's spine. It was a relief Zero could stop one of Azdaja's tormentors and look incredible at it.
Tumblr media
THAT IS GENUINELY HOW SHE WOULD HAVE FELT AWKWARD AND STUPID FOR NOT NOTICING I'M CRYING
"She is gonna think I'm dumb now >_<"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hmm, they look quite different from what was in ivalice and harbor people rather than power. Could you take a voidsent's power from it though?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh god Estinien sounds perturbed. And this flying knight's words... at least with the picking order gone it shouldn't be like that, right?
When Zero spoke of her domain, Nemi looked confused. Did Zero enact hierarchy with a colder gaze? But what they came to was ruins, and even recognizable faces that holstered vulnerability and fear that broke her heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A hero of this place... the imp's plea to cherish her death is so opposite to everything her Ascian foes holstered before. And to hear of Scatatch! She wondered if somewhere in the Thirteenth looked as pretty as her quarters in the source, or if that was more how it was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think Nemi froze and started having a panic attack as this poor guy recounted his story. She only stilled with a firm hand on her shoulder and the words of fleeing before worse could happen. She managed to breathe out "I'm glad you're safe," and turn to blush seeing it was Zero who grounded her. She just asked her why her breathing looked strange, and Nemi told her she just felt upset for the Mindblaster. Zero stared quizically at Nemi's back, thinking it strange to get worked up over things that don't affect you.
Tumblr media
I almost can't believe I have no screncaps for Barbariccia??? You can bet Nemi was fighting for her life but feeling confidence in the high pace. She was an admirable fighter, and amusing to have put Zero out of breath. Hopefully it would be fine to take her to the Source, since the Warding Scales would not hold up any longer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Zero's entrapment and twisting was Fandaniel's doing? Nothing was beyond a former ward of Allag, but something about Zenos being unable to make a pact of his own made her chuckle. Truly a pathetic man that couldn't scratch his own ass.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh Y'sthola, she had already shaken when you showed her the crystal. Now she's going to be in shambles thinking Venat let her have this experience ;m;
Tumblr media
"Heh, I could tour you to many vibrant sights if you'd like"
Tumblr media
Poor Nemi trying not to laugh but also realizing how sad that is
Tumblr media
WHAT WAS THIS ABOUT AGAIN LOL

Zexion - Prologue (with transcript)
Tumblr media
PEACH (flashback): Ooh... Oooooh...
PEACH (flashback): What happened to me... What is this place?
LOST SPIRIT: This is... When the Chaos Heart was...
EMIKO: Shhh... It'll be OK. Just relax. You won't have to remember what they did to you...
COUNT BLECK (flashback): Bleh heh heh heh heh... Oh, you're awake, Princess!
PEACH (flashback): ... Huh?
NAMINÉ: Sofia, could you get my sketchbook, please?
SOFIA: I'm on it! Anything to ultimately help my sis!
BOWSER'S MINIONS (flashback): Bow-owser!
XION: What do you plan on doing? I want to know.
EMIKO: I'm going to revive him. He's my friend, but I don't want him to remember the pain.
The pain that he would have felt if the Purity Heart had fulfill the red hero's unintentionally dark wishes!
LOST SPIRIT: Red... Hero... M-Mar... Mar...
Urgh... What was his name...?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
LOST SPIRIT: Urk... Mar... R-r-r... Ughh...
EMIKO: Dang it! He's waking up! I might need to get a Sleepy Sheep and put it on his face! Heh...
NAMINÉ: And if he remembers Mario now, I might rearrange the wrong memories!
XION: Hey, why don't you make him remember Marluxia instead?
NAMINÉ: Do you think I want to remember him?! He was a jerk!
XION: Well, I don't know any other people whose names start with "Mar"!
LOST SPIRIT: Oh... It's on the tip of my tongue... Ma... M-M-Mar...
EMIKO: Ughhh, just make him remember Mars the Stardroid!
And will you hurry it up, Sofia! I can't focus when these two are at each other's necks!
PEACH (flashback): Wh-What's going on here?!
LOST SPIRIT: Ooooh... His n-name was Mars... Yeeesssss...
SOFIA: Sorry, I'm back! I was trying to deal with our visitor, but he didn't want to listen.
EMIKO: Yeah, figures. That red-hat-head never had any regard for the wishes of others... Especially for anyone who got in his way, even a tiny bit!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
NASTASIA (flashback): *BZZRZT*! Yeah, um, 'K, so preparations are complete...
COUNT BLECK (flashback): Mmm... Then it shall be begun... By *KRSHH SHKK*!
NAMINÉ: Oh, oh... He still remembers Nastasia!
EMIKO: Don't worry. Nastasia didn't do much of anything, so she can be one of the last forgotten.
LOST SPIRIT: Ow! Ohh... M-My head...
COUNT BLECK (flashback): *KRSH*ser... Ferocious and fearsome, evil king of the Koo-oo-oo*ZEEEEERTT*...
Do you take Pe-each-ch-ch to be your lawfully wedded wife 'til your games be over?
XION: Does anyone want some sea-salt ice cream?
BOWSER (flashback): Bwah ha ha!
Will I marry Pe-Peach-ch? Are you kidding me?
The answer's YESSSSSSSS!
EMIKO: No, thank you. It might have to wait since I'm trying to keep Didi asleep and take care of that stupid mustached idiot.
COUNT BLECK (flashback): Pea-each... Noble prince-ess, pure of heart...
Do you take *KZZRRRT*er to be your lawfully wedded-d husband 'til your games be over?
SOFIA: Well, I'm gonna teach that "foolishly foolish fool's fool" to trespass! Boooof foo foo foo foof!
EMIKO: N'Kay! Try not to let him Trick-Trap-Tower you!
PEACH (flashback): Now, wait just a second!
You will explain to me what is going on... RIGHT NOW!
LOST SPIRIT: Mmnnmmmmn... I'm... So sleepy...
COUNT BLECK (flashback): Bleh heh heh heh heh... Is it not obvious?
This is your we-wedd-dd-ing, Pri*KZT*ss!
EMIKO: Yes! It worked! Our friend is now fast asleep!
Heh - and now I don't have to fight so hard.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
NASTASIA (flashback): Yeah, um, being rude to the esteemed *GRSHHHHK* is sort of frowned upon, 'K?
So, yeah, *ZRRSHKK PSHHHHHH*, I'm gonna need you to answer the *DZZZZZT* now...
Do you, *ZRRRPH*, take *LZZZRTT* to be your wed-ed-edded h-h-h-hus-ba-and 'til your ga-gam-gam-am-a-ames be over?
PEACH (flashback): Uhn... Nuh... No...
NASTASIA (flashback): Gee... You sure are a fighter.
But, yeah, no one withstands my super-hypnosis, sorry.
"I do." Say it now, 'K?
SOFIA: Go back to that teeny, ramshackle hut of yours, oh, hero!
No memory of this fight or our castle, either!
MARIO: Mama-miaaaaaa!
PEACH: Oooh... Ooooh oh...
...... I... I... Do......
BOWSER (flashback): WH-WHAT?!?
SOFIA: OK, girls! That nerd is back to where he needs to be!
EMIKO: Just in time to wake up and realize Peachy isn't always gonna be on his side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
EMIKO (flashback): Heeheehee! Sorry!
LOST SPIRIT: Mmmnmmnnnn... The little girl... She... Saved me...
NAMINÉ: I'm finished.
He still remembers you, Miss Emiko, but his memories of the Chaos Heart Incident are hazy.
EMIKO: Thank you, Naminé. It is a shame that we must hide his memories for now.
Alas, this is the price we must pay so that, when he is revived, he may help to finally show Mario his true nature.
EMIKO: I'm leaving. Need to go help Mr. L see the light of day once more.
SOFIA: Okie-day! Good luck!♪
XION: I'm going to go get the ice cream!
NAMINÉ: I am leaving as well.
SOFIA: Ugh... Leave me alone with a mad jester in a crystal ball...!
No matter. Ireg's plans have been set in motion.
Let's just hope Ienzo and Lauriam, who'll be visiting soon, will not wang anything.

Elementary
Something is wrong.
It’s a revelation that comes too late. Not too late to complete their objective, but too late to avoid capture.
Allura notices it only after they’re surrounded. Keith was supposed to be on lookout, supposed to watch her back, but he hadn’t said a word. In retrospect, he’s been quiet for nearly half a varga. Now, he swings his sword at the nearest guard, and he misses. Something is definitely wrong.
With a dozen guns trained on them, Allura and Keith are marched through the same halls they’d spent the better part of two vargas skulking through, trying to avoid this exact situation. They’re brought past the transmitter they’d shut down, past the experimental weapons they’d destroyed along the way, further and further down until they reach a room deep underground.
A laboratory. The dim lights overhead tint everything crimson. Crystals and beakers and chunks of metal line the shelves in strange colours. A heavy layer of dust has settled over all the lab equipment; rust eats away at the machines. It hasn’t been used in a while.
The guards strip them of their weapons and armour with rough hands, and then throw them into a large cage meant for lab animals. Or maybe it’s meant for people; Allura wouldn’t put it past the Xorathians, the cruel, self-centred—
The door of the cage locks with a loud click.
“You can rot in here, Galra sympathizers,” one of the guards spits.
Allura glares at them, a retort ready on her tongue. Just because they’ve formed an alliance with the Blade of Marmora—
No. It’s not worth it. Don’t engage. The sooner they get bored, the sooner they’ll leave. The guards speak obscenities, but Allura keeps her mouth clamped shut. Keith remains silent beside her.
The guards take their leave after a few doboshes. As soon as the laboratory doors slide shut, Allura leaps to the door of the cage and tugs at the bars. She pushes and pulls and strikes with all her might, but it won’t budge. She reaches through and stretches her shapeshifter bones to their very limit, but the locking mechanism is still far out of range. They’re not getting out of this cage without help.
The Xorathians took their helmets with the rest of their armour, but thankfully, Allura still has her earrings. “Lance, can you hear me?”
“Allura? I found our target; we’re on our way out now. What’s up?”
“Keith and I have been captured. Our equipment’s been taken. I don’t think we’re getting out of here on our own.” She adds in a hushed whisper, “I… I fear something may be wrong with Keith.”
“Not good. I’m still getting interference on the comms from the others—they must still be on Ganatham. I’ll come get you guys as soon as I can.”
“Thank you, Lance.”
Allura sighs and takes a deep breath. Tentatively, she faces her mission partner. “Keith?”
Keith turns to look at her. His eyes are unfocused and dull; his usual sharpness is completely gone. Something is definitely, definitely wrong.
“What’s wrong with you?” she asks, bluntly.
“I… I dunno. Don’t feel right,” Keith admits, his words slurring together. “Worse now.”
She frowns. “How long have you been feeling this way?”
“Started when we got here,” he says, tongue slow. “Something… something in this building, maybe...”
“Keith, we’ve been here for nearly two vargas. You should have said something earlier,” she chastises.
“Sorry,” he says, quietly. “’m sorry.”
“Hey, Allura?” Lance’s voice comes from over the comm link. “Keith’s an idiot, and we can all yell at him later, but it doesn’t sound like he’s doing so good at the moment. I think he needs comfort more than a lecture right now.”
Allura has many strengths. Providing comfort is not among them. “I… I’m not very good at that,” Allura whispers.
“You can do it,” Lance assures her. “Just take care of him until I get there.”
“I don’t… What am I even supposed to say?"
“Well, he said he doesn’t feel ‘right’. You could start by asking him what that means.”
That’s easy enough. “Keith, what do you mean you don’t feel right?”
Keith winces. “Dizzy. Head hurts. Stomach hurts. Muscles hurt? Can’t… can’t think straight.” He draws his knees in close to his body and squeezes his eyes shut.
“That’s not good,” Lance mutters.
“Now what?” she hisses.
“Well, you probably can’t do a whole lot to fix those things, so just try to comfort him until we can get him back to the Castle.”
“I don’t—“ She sighs. “I wish you could do this instead, Lance.”
“You’ll be fine. But if you’re really that worried about it, can’t you just, like, hand him your earring and let me talk directly?”
“Of course not. They’re tuned specifically to my neural patterns so nobody else can listen in. Is that not how earrings work on Earth?”
“Yeah, not exactly.”
“So tell me what to say,” she insists.
“Okay, okay. Tell him, that sucks, but hang in there; help is on the way.”
“Keith.” His name draws hazy eyes back to her. “That sucks, but hang in there; help is on the way,” she repeats, verbatim.
“And if there’s anything we can do to make it a little less terrible, just say the word.”
“And if there’s anything we can do to make it a little less terrible, just say the word.”
Keith’s eyebrows furrow in confusion. After a beat too long, he asks, “We?”
“Me and sexy Lance.”
“Me and… Lance,” she says, eyes narrowing. “Lance!” she hisses under her breath.
“Worth a shot,” Lance says, and she can hear his grin. “But for real, you can’t just repeat my words exactly. It sounds super wrong. You gotta say stuff from the heart, or whatever. Say it like you mean it.”
“I don’t—“
“’Lura?” Keith slurs.
“Yes, Keith?”
“Where… where are we?”
She frowns. “We’re on Xorath. Do you not remember?”
The blank expression on his face gives no indication that he does.
“We’re here to rescue Retka, one of the Blade of Marmora’s allies,” she recounts for him. “You and I came to this facility to shut down the planet-wide transmitter, so that Lance could sneak inside the prison to get her out. We completed our task, but the two of us were captured. We’re just waiting now for Lance to come get us.”
“Oh,” Keith says, though he still looks dazed. “Where’s Shiro?”
“I’m not sure, exactly. We’ve lost contact with him.”
Keith’s eyes go wide. “Lost…? Again…?”
“Oh my god, Allura,” Lance says, exasperated. “Don’t make it sound like he might be dead.”
“Ah, what I mean is, we’re too far out of range for our comms to function properly. He’s on Ganatham, a planet whose atmosphere has a lot of interference. He’s there with Hunk and Pidge on another mission. Shiro is fine.”
“Promise?” Keith asks in a small voice. It’s so far from his usual tone. Allura hesitates.
“Just say yes!” Lance urges.
“Yes, Keith. I promise.”
“Good, ‘cause I—“ His voice cuts off, his face scrunching up in pain. A groan escapes him as he slumps over and curls in on himself.
“Keith? What’s wrong?”
“H-hurts,” he gasps.
“Will you… be alright?”
He sucks in a shaky breath. “Th-think I’m gonna throw up.”
“Quiznak,” Allura whispers. “Lance? Lance, what should I do?”
“Help him sit up if he needs to, and make sure to keep that mullet out of his face. Rub his back—that might help.”
“Will that stop it?” she asks, pulling Keith up from under his arms and propping him up against her.
“No, but it might make him feel better.”
“How, exactly, do I go about ‘rubbing one’s back’?” she asks. She carefully tucks Keith’s dark hair behind his ears.
“Like, make circular motions with your hands.”
“On his back?”
“Yeah.”
She stares at the expanse of Keith’s back. “Where on his back, exactly?”
“I dunno, I guess somewhere in the middle?”
“And what size should these circles be?”
“Uh… small?”
Allura frowns. “Under or over a deciplaxel in diameter? How many rotations per dobosh?”
“It’s not a science, Allura. Just do what feels right.”
“I… I don’t know what feels right,” she admits. “I don’t know how to do this, Lance.”
“It’s alright,” Lance reassures her. “You’ll get there. In the meantime, why don’t you just rest your hand on his upper back, or maybe hold his hand. Just, y’know, to remind him you’re there.”
“Do you really think he’s forgotten?”
“No—well, maybe; he doesn’t sound so good. But it’s more of a comfort thing.”
She takes a deep breath. “Alright.” She places a cautious hand between Keith’s shoulder blades, another over his hand.
She flinches when his stomach spasms and he hunches over. He gags a few times, but nothing comes up. Thank the ancients for small mercies.
He’s left panting for breath, but eventually, his rigid muscles start to go slack.
“Are… are you alright?” she asks, after his breathing begins to even out. She runs an experimental hand down his spine. It doesn’t feel natural to her, but he seems to relax further, leaning back against her.
“Dizzy,” he slurs. “Think’m gonna... pass out…”
“That’s alright. Tell him to get some rest.”
“Get some rest,” she commands.
“…We’ll work on the tone,” Lance says. “Now tell him you’re gonna be right here when he wakes up.”
“Why?” she whispers. “Of course I will be. We’re locked in a quiznaking cage together.”
“Again. Comfort thing.”
Ah. “Get some rest, Keith,” she tries again, gentler now. “I’ll be right here when you wake up.”
“’Kay,” he says, quietly. He slumps against her and closes his eyes. He’s asleep in a matter of ticks.
“Good. That was good.”
She sighs, laying Keith down on his side. “I don’t know what I’d do without you, Lance,” she murmurs.
“You’d get it eventually.”
“You have too much faith in me.”
“I have just enough faith in you. You can do anything you put your mind to, Allura. I know you can.”
She smiles. “You are sweet.”
“Sweet enough to warrant a date?” She’s certain his eyebrows are waggling.
She lets out a slight chuckle. “In your dreams,” she says, amicably. This, this comes naturally.
“And what good dreams they are.”
Keith’s dreams are decidedly not good. He mutters things in his sleep as he tosses and turns, making her heart clench. Shiro; don’t leave; I’m sorry.
Allura watches him uselessly with bated breath until he wakes with a start. Tears bead his dark lashes. With a shudder, they fall.
“Lance?” she whispers, panicked. “Lance, he’s crying. What should I do?”
“Maybe he could use a hug?”
“Keith, do you require a hug?” she asks.
He ducks his head. “No, I-I’m fine,” he stammers.
“No, no, don’t ask him outright if he requires a hug. Of course he’s gonna say no; it’s Keith.”
“But you still think he could use one?” she whispers.
“Did you see the look on his face during our last group hug? Every time he hugs Shiro? Even if he won’t say so, he likes ‘em, no question.”
She takes a deep breath and tries again. “I… I would like a hug,” she says. “Would that be alright?”
Keith looks up, dark eyes wide. “You… would?”
“Yes. I think it would be very helpful.”
“Oh. Okay,” he whispers.
Keith readily collapses into her arms. He holds on tight, burrowing his face into her shoulder. It seems to be exactly what he needs.
“Good call, Lance,” she breathes.
“’Lura?” Keith mumbles, his voice muffled by the thick fabric of her undersuit. “Where’s Shiro?”
She frowns. “We’ve already been over this, Keith. Don’t you remember?”
Silence.
“Lance, help me,” she whispers.
Just explain it again. He’s not thinking straight. Just be patient with him.”
Ugh. “Patient?” she says, her voice dangerously close to a whine. Patience is not her strong suit.
“Patience yields focus,” Keith murmurs, and oh, he was listening.
“I… Yes, I suppose it does,” she says, though the statement takes her by surprise. It’s a very un-Keith-like sentiment.
“’Course it does. Shiro says so.”
She smiles. That’s not so un-Keith-like. “And I suppose Shiro’s always right?”
“Most of the time.”
“Yeah, that’s fair,” Lance agrees.
“’Cept when he’s talking ‘bout himself,” Keith continues.
She quirks an eyebrow. “Oh? How’s that?”
“Says he’s fine when he isn’t. Says things don’t bother’m when they do. Says he’ll be back soon. Says… says Kerberos’ll just be for a… a few months…” His voice chokes.
“Oh, Keith,” Lance murmurs, sympathetically.
“What is Kerberos?” she asks.
“Fuck Kerberos,” Keith spits.
“Kerberos is the moon Shiro was on when he and Matt and Pidge’s dad were abducted by the Galra,” Lance explains.
“But that was the Galra’s fault, not the moon’s, was it not?”
“You’re right,” Keith says, quietly. “I’m sorry. ’s just a dumb icy rock. Not its fault. It was the Galra. Galra are bad.”
“Allura…” Lance urges.
Right. “Not all of them are bad.”
“…Me?”
“Of course not, Keith.”
“But I wasn’t there. Disappointed you.”
She can’t lie; she didn’t exactly hide her feelings when he put the Blade first. “I was a bit disappointed when you left,” she admits. “But that’s only because you’re such an important part of the team.”
“And…?” Lance prompts.
“And… and because I missed you,” she concedes.
“Oh.” That takes Keith by surprise. “I missed you, too.”
“Aw,” Lance coos.
“…’s that why Shiro was mad too?”
“Shiro? I don’t think Shiro was angry,” Allura says, “Just frustrated. With himself, more than anything.” Late nights on the bridge and footsteps to the Black Lion’s hangar and brutal rounds with the gladiator had told her that much.
“I shoulda… shoulda been there for him. He’s always—“ he cuts off, eyes going wide. “Where is he? Where’s Shiro?”
“Shiro’s fine, Keith.”
“We gotta find him,” he says, trying to push himself to his feet. She puts a hand on his shoulder, staying him.
“Shiro’s on a mission with Hunk and Pidge. He’s safe,” she reiterates.
“He… he disappeared,” he says, shoulders drooping.
“Yes, but you found him,” she reminds him. “Remember, Keith? You rescued him. You never gave up on him.”
“But I did,” he whispers. It’s a confession, one she probably shouldn’t be privy to. “Before. The Garrison. I believed them. Knew it wasn’t pilot error, but—but they said he was dead, an’ I believed them.”
“So did I,” Lance says. “So did the rest of the world.”
“It was a reasonable assumption,” she says. “It would be the most logical conclusion to come to, especially if you Earthlings had not had any prior contact with other planets.”
“No need for any snide comments about how primitive Earth is,” Lance says.
“I know,” she hisses to Lance under her breath. Although to be fair, she was thinking it.
“I shoulda known,” Keith says, his voice brimming with guilt. “Shoulda—Pidge did. Pidge never gave up on her family. She was looking for them, an’ I was just, I was just wasting my time in the desert looking for something I never woulda found on my own. Didn’t help anyone. Didn’t do anything. Didn’t work. Just took the money he left me, like he was dead. Wasted it on food and fuel. He was out there and I just—just spent it, like he was never gonna need it again…”
“That doesn’t sound like a waste of anything to me,” Allura says. “Your research is what helped you to locate the Blue Lion in the first place, if I recall correctly. And it led you back to Shiro, did it not?”
Keith’s eyes flicker with something less sad.
“And Shiro left that to you so you would use it. Really, it would have been a waste had you not used it. He’s told me himself that he has no intention of going back to Earth any time soon. Not when there’s so much to do out here, and not when his family is out here. His family. That’s you, Keith.”
“Oh. Yeah.” Keith gives a soft sigh, snuggling closer against her.
“Aww. See?” Lance says. “You can totally do this.”
A slight smile makes its way to her face. She stays right where she is until he falls back asleep.
“Lance?” Allura whispers, as she watches over Keith. His limbs thrash and twitch in jerky movements. Sweat beads his temples; his skin is ghostly pale. His teeth are clenched tightly, every muscle drawn taut. “He’s gotten significantly worse. What’s your status?”
“I’m in the building. Be there soon.”
“Good. Please, hurry.”
Keith groans; his eyes crack open. His gaze settles on Allura. “’Lura? Shiro… where’s…”
“Again?” she mutters under her breath. “For quiznak’s sake—”
“He’s delirious. Cut him some slack,” Lance says. “Remember: focus yields patience. Or something.”
“I am fairly certain that is not how it went.”
“Whatever. You got this.”
She sighs. “Keith, Shiro is fine,” she says, keeping her voice level. “He’s busy on a mission elsewhere, but he is fine. I promise.”
“Oh,” Keith says. “…Can we go on that one instead?” he asks in a small voice. “I don’t like it here.”
“I know, Keith,” she murmurs. “I know.”
“Tell him Lancey-Lance is on his way.”
“Lancey—I mean, Lance is on his way,” she says, quietly fuming at the laughter coming from her earrings. “He will be here soon.”
Keith shivers. “’Lura, I don’t feel good,” he says, quietly.
“My mom used to stroke my hair when I was sick,” Lance offers.
“And I’m supposed to act like Keith’s mother?” she says, a little louder than she means to.
“Don’t,” Keith begs. “Want you to stay.”
Allura’s heart breaks a little. “Your mother left you?” she asks, softly.
He nods. “Everyone does.”
“Not everyone. I’m not going anywhere,” she reassures him, carding a hand through his dark hair.
“Now you’re getting it.”
Keith shakes and shudders. A whimper escapes his lips between stuttering breaths. He looks so, so miserable.
She wants to ask Lance what to do next, but the sound of blaster fire has become near constant over the comm link. It’s reassuring—he must be getting closer—but she shouldn’t distract him.
Just do what feels right.
She can do this.
Carefully, Allura scoops Keith up in her arms. One of her palms settles between his shoulder blades, and she lets it run over his back in small, soothing motions. Her other hand rests at the nape of his neck.
Somehow, it feels right.
“Just hold on, Keith,” she soothes. “We’ll be out of here soon.”
She continues to utter quiet reassurances, not focusing too hard on the words themselves, but keeping her voice soft and warm. Shivering, Keith settles against her. She holds him close.
Allura’s close to drifting off herself when a voice interrupts.
“I’m jealous.”
Allura’s eyes fly open. “Lance!” she exclaims. The sight of the Blue Paladin has never been more welcome.
Lance shoots the lock mechanism outside with perfect precision and opens the door.
“Lance?” Keith asks, weakly, blinking his eyes open.
Lance gives him a smile. “Hey, man.”
“You came,” Keith murmurs.
“Well, I couldn’t just leave the Princess here.”
“Oh.” Keith’s voice is quiet. “…Yeah. Guess not.”
“I’m kidding,” Lance says, more softly now. “You’re really not feeling well, huh.”
Keith shakes his head.
“Some sort of Galra kryptonite around here, maybe.”
Keith’s eyebrows knit together, trying to understand.
Lance smiles. “Don’t worry about it.”
Keith’s eyes flicker to Allura as she tucks her hand under his knees. “Can we go home now?”
“Yes, Keith,” she says, lifting him into her arms. “Let’s go home.”
Allura presses her hand against the cool, translucent material of the healing pod. Keith slumbers inside, limbs slack and a peaceful expression on his face. The sight alleviates the tension that’s been running through her own body as well.
“He looks way better already,” Lance says.
“Yes,” she agrees. “Thank goodness.”
She walks over to join Lance, sitting down beside him on the circular steps. He smiles at her, and she scoots closer. “Lance?”
“Yeah?”
“Thank you.”
He cocks his head. “What for?”
“You know what for,” she says. “For getting us out of there. For preventing me from making the situation worse for Keith. For guiding me through something I was… uncomfortable with. For being so encouraging and supportive throughout.”
“Oh, I like this,” he grins. “Please, go on about how great I am.”
Allura gives him a light shove, but she continues. “I meant what I said. I don’t know what I’d have done without you.”
He shrugs. “Made a few slip-ups, maybe, but you would’ve figured it out on your own eventually. I know that for a fact.”
“Well, thank you for making it such that I did not have to,” she says. “I appreciate it. And I’m certain Keith appreciates it as well.”
Lance glances back at the cryopod. “D’you think he’ll even remember?”
It’s a good question. “I’m not sure. But I will make sure to tell him how much you helped.”
“Don’t you dare.”
Allura laughs. “Would that really be so bad?”
“The worst,” Lance says. “Do it and I’m bragging to everyone on the ship about you calling me Lancey.”
She scowls. “I want to strangle you sometimes. I—Stop doing that with your eyebrows!”
He laughs. It earns him another shove, harder this time.
“For real, though,” he says. “I know it wasn’t easy for you, but you really pulled through for Keith. You did great today. I mean it.”
The corners of her lips lift. “You make it sound as if you weren’t the one to save the day.”
“Heh. I guess we’re both pretty awesome, aren’t we?”
She gives him a warm look. “Indeed.”
They share a few moments of amicable silence, but hunger and exhaustion soon catch up. She gets to her feet and extends a hand to Lance. “It’s been a long day. I’m starving. Let’s go eat dinner.”
He grins as he takes her hand. “Holding hands? Dinner? Sounds an awful lot like a date to me.”
She rolls her eyes and yanks her hand away, letting him fall back to the floor. Their dynamic is familiar; it’s just what she needs. She gives Lance a fond, playful smile. “You must be dreaming.”

12 Days of (Lance) Whumpmas! - Day 3 [Hypothermia]
also inspired by this post! it was the first thing that came to mind when i saw the hypothermia prompt, so i wrote the story around that since i loved the picture ahhhh please go give the artist some love!
sidenote let’s just pretend that paladin armor does little against extreme cold for this story heh;;; not sure if that’s actually true or not but HERE WE ARE
part of the 12 Days of VLD Whumpmas hosted by @vldwhumpmas2017! check out more info on the challenge here if you want to participate!
When Allura mentioned the Castle picking up a Galra signal from an unexplored planet, the first thing that Shiro noticed was that it was... white. Completely.
“You sure it's this planet?” Hunk asked, not sounding all that convinced.
“This is the closest planet near the signal.” Allura responded firmly. “Although there seems to be a storm of ice crystals encompassing its entirety at the moment.”
Even through the comms, Shiro could practically feel Lance perk up. “Wait a minute, you mean snow? It's snowing? Dude, this planet is like the holy grail of winter festivities!”
“It's more of a snowstorm,” Shiro corrected. “We need to be careful before we try to track that signal down.”
“We might need to wait until it calms down before we enter. Looks pretty dangerous.” Pidge pointed out. She clicked her tongue thoughtfully. “There's not much information on this planet, but according to the cloud patterns, it should die down for a bit in around 15 dobashes.”
Shiro agreed, staring at the mass of white warily. Were there really Galra here? It didn't really seem like an inhabitable planet.
Blue crept a bit closer towards the planet, movements light and careful. Shiro knew Blue wouldn't do anything to endanger her pilot, and although Shiro didn't doubt Lance's piloting abilities, he still felt a pang of worry.
“Lance...” He said warningly.
Lance hummed, acknowledging but still calm. “I know, bossman. Won't go any further th—“
The rest happened so quickly it made Shiro's eyes spin. Halfway through Lance's sentence, ice crystals had already built their way up the bottom of Blue's legs, and the next thing he knew, Blue descended into a free-fall towards the white planet below.
“Woah, Blue?!” Lance's voice had gone panicked, rightfully so. “Wh—“
They lost sight of Blue when she disappeared into the swirling mass of clouds, Lance's comm link cutting off at the same time. Shiro acted on instinct, ready to send Black in after them, only to just barely stop himself. He saw the other Lions jerk forward in the same way, Lance's name ringing in the comms.
“Don't get closer!” Shiro yelled, urgently relieved when they all stopped in their tracks. “Your Lions will get affected, too.”
“We have to go after him!” Hunk shot back, distressed.
Shiro couldn't agree more, trying to pinpoint the area that Blue had fallen through. But it was nearly impossible to find once he'd taken his eyes off it once. He grimaced, hands tight on the controls.
“I'll go. You all stay here and wait until the storm calms down.”
Among the rise of dissent, Keith's voice was the loudest. “What? No, that's way too dangerous, Shiro!”
“We can't just wait here when Lance might be in trouble! And if that signal was true, there might be Galra down there that just saw one of the Lions falling from the sky!” Shiro already made up his mind. “It’s too dangerous if we all go at once. I'll find him and make sure he's alright. The rest can provide backup once the storm settles.”
The silence was heavy, but no one could argue. Shiro glanced back towards the planet. “Princess, do you still have a reading on the Blue Lion's location?”
“... I do.” Allura said, voice sick with worry. “But Shiro, you might not be able to reach him properly if the cold overrides your Lion. It would very well fall just like the Blue Lion did.”
Shiro already knew that, and honestly, he didn't really have a solid plan to counter it. “As long as I can maneuver Black close enough to where Lance fell, then I'll find a way to get to him.” He tapped a foot impatiently. They'd already spent too much time. “Please send me his location. If anything, I'll know that you guys will be on the way.”
Allura sighed, but Shiro saw his HUD light up with a target centered on a spot of the planet. “This is still very dangerous, Shiro. The armor can only do so much against extreme temperatures. Make sure Lance is alright, but keep yourself safe as well.”
Shiro nodded, grim. “Got it. Thanks.”
He pushed Black forward, focusing only on that small target as they dove down. It didn't take long for his vision to be flooded with pure white, but that wasn't what grabbed his attention. He could literally hear the ice crystallizing on Black as he heard his comms cut off. His HUD tinged red, already in distress at the sudden onset of cold. He grit his teeth as they broke through the clouds, the winds growing even more insistent and merciless. It took all of his strength just to keep Black on course.
“Come on, just a bit more.” Shiro muttered. Black was going to shut down, he expected as much. His cockpit had gotten substantially colder, and he could see puffs of gas emanate each exhale. But he could see it. The obvious spot in the vast blanket of snow where the Blue Lion had fallen. He just needed to land near there.
Call it a stroke of luck, but Black managed to tumble to the ground a few feet away before its lights dimmed. The landing was could’ve been way worse, given Black’s condition. Shiro released the breath he'd been holding, relaxing the tension in his shoulders. It was already cold in here with his armor, and he could only imagine how bad it was outside. The winds were strong, howling and rocking his Lion with each blast.
He pushed himself out of his seat, heading for another manual exit since Black wouldn't be able to open its mouth. The hatch was practically frozen shut, and Shiro had to give it a few shoves before it opened. The blast of cold almost paralyzed him from the force, and Shiro felt his mind go numb with shock for a few seconds.
He shouldn't be out here too long. It was obvious the insulation his armor might have wouldn't last at all if he stayed in these temperatures. He squinted his eyes, spotting the Blue Lion past the flecks of snow. It had only been a few minutes, but snow was already piling up around its form. Shiro sprinted for it, ignoring the ice building up around his helmet. As long as he could see, it was fine.
But by the time he reached Blue, his vision had almost completely blurred with the ice that encased his visor. Blue had fallen on her side, her mouth still slightly ajar. Shiro felt his stomach sink. It would be even colder inside Blue with wind openly entering. But it also let him get inside, and he climbed in amidst the slippery steps.
Lance wasn't in the pilot seat, instead curled up in a far corner, head buried in his arms. Shiro ran over, dropping to the ground and grabbing at his shoulders.
“Lance. Lance!” Shiro could barely see through his helmet at this point, and he tore it off in frustration. A brand new gust of wind greeted him, painfully strong. Probably not a good idea, but he wanted to see Lance clearly. It's me, Shiro.”
Lance had barely reacted, only lifting his head once Shiro shook him a bit harder. His eyes were glazed, almost blank. “S-Shiro?”
Shiro nodded, frantic. “It's me. The others are gonna come get us soon.”
“W-where are...”
“Blue got caught in ice and fell onto the planet. Did you crash? Are you injured?” Shiro tried to scan for injuries, but Lance had his armor on and Shiro’s eyes were stinging from the winds. He didn't see any blood, though.
Lance blinked, dazed. “Crashed? I-I dunno, 'm cold...”
Shiro gave a tight smile even while the dread settled in his stomach. Injured or not, the cold already had Lance in bad condition. He couldn't stay like this for too long. How much time had passed? Pidge had mentioned 15 dobashes for the storm.
“I'm going to try and find a blanket from the emergency kit. I'll be back.”
Shiro pushed himself to his feet, a full shudder passing through him when another blast of wind hit. Walking itself was a challenge at this point. He stumbled towards another part of the cockpit, fighting to pry open a compartment that revealed bandages, a knife, and some other first-aid supplies. When he spotted a small folded blanket, he couldn't grab it fast enough. It was only one, but they'd have to make do.
He made his way back to Lance, his legs frozen and aching. At this rate, he wasn't going long either. He all but collapsed on his knees next to Lance, who was slumped against the wall, arms loose around his legs. He was trembling violently, and Shiro worked fast to unfold the blanket and wrap it around Lance's shoulders.
Lance's eyes flickered a bit in recognition once Shiro wrapped even more of the blanket around Lance's torso and legs, an attempt at a blanket burrito. The blanket wasn't all that thick, but it should be enough to contain some heat for a while. Shiro tried to tuck as much of the blanket around Lance as he could before settling against the wall and pulling Lance—bundled and all—against his chest.
Lance moved then, weak but insistent. He wriggled against Shiro's arms, trying to break free. “S-Shiro, no. You s-should—“
“I'm fine,” Shiro grit out, maneuvering himself so that Lance's legs perched off the side of one of Shiro's own. He moved a hand onto Lance's head and pushed it closer against the blankets. “You're in worse shape, kiddo.”
Lance didn't listen, straining to fight back even if he had almost no energy left. “You're m-more important. T-take it.”
Shiro hugged Lance closer, ignoring the small pain in his chest that wasn't from the cold at all. “D-don't you dare say that. We're both gettin' out of this.”
Lance grew silent, his movements getting weaker until they stopped altogether. The only thing that kept Shiro from freaking out was that he could still feel Lance shivering under the blankets, proof that he was alive.
What felt like an eternity passed by, and by that point, Shiro couldn't tell who was shivering more, him or Lance. His body felt so numb, and he ducked his head down against the top of Lance's head. He couldn't even think at that point, his mind feeling like it froze over. Drowsiness threatened to fall over his eyes, and Shiro fought to stay awake. Falling asleep was the worst possible option right now.
Shiro tried to squeeze at Lance's shoulder, although he wasn't sure if any strength went into it. “L-Lance... Stay awake, 'kay?”
Lance moved just marginally, and Shiro heard a small whimper escape the blankets.
It sucked that he couldn't even make things better, even with the blanket. He huffed out another breath, eyes barely open at this point. God, he was so cold and tired. He kept his other hand on Lance's head, trying his best to at least contain the fleeting body warmth he might have left in the blankets.
“H-hang in there.. They're comin'...”
And they did. It could have been seconds after he said those words, or even minutes. Shiro couldn't tell. But when he heard Hunk's voice calling in from outside Blue, he barely had the energy to respond. It was like his tongue had frozen completely. He struggled to lift his head, blinking blearily as he caught Hunk stumble inside, take one look at them, and start yelling into the comms. Oh right, he took off his helmet. The comms must have been restored when the storm died down.
Hunk was suddenly in front, panicked and fearful. “Oh God, okay. We're gonna get you guys out of here and back to the Castle. You don't have to move, we'll carry both Lions back.” He glanced down. “Is Lance there?”
Shiro nodded, or at least tried to. “H-Hunk..”
Hunk held up a hand, already getting to his feet. “Don't talk, save your energy. I'm gonna get you a blanket and then we'll take off.”
Shiro didn't remember much of what happened next, except that the rewarming process had sucked. All he could feel was pain. Keith and the others floated into his consciousness once in a while, and he wanted to ask about Lance, but the words wouldn't come. When sleep came this time, he let it.
He woke up in his room, covered in an excessive amount of blankets. He never thought he'd feel warm again, but here he was, sweating and fully awake. He tried to move his fingers and arms, glad he could actually feel them again.
“Shiro!” Keith's voice, and he loomed over from the bedside, face tight with worry. “Are you okay? Still cold?”
“I'm fine.” Shiro said with a grin. Keith relaxed, but just minutely. “Where's Lance?”
“He's in his room with Pidge and Hunk. He woke up not too long ago. Was asking about you, too.”
Shiro pushed himself into a sitting position, heaving off the blankets. “Can I go see him?”
“Of course.” Keith held out a hand, helping Shiro up. The sensation sent the blood rushing to his head, and Shiro almost tipped over had Keith not gripped his arm. “Don't push it, you almost froze to death.”
Shiro nodded, taking a few breaths before walking. It didn't take long to get used to moving his legs again, and they made their way out into the hallway with no problem. Keith still kept a hand on his arm, just in case.
“Turns out the Galra signal on that planet came from an old deserted drone.” Keith explained as they walked. “It must have gotten caught in one of the storms like the Blue Lion did. Allura's moving the Castle somewhere else. Said we shouldn't have to worry about that planet anymore. There's nothing important there.”
They reached Lance's door, knocking once before they went inside. Lance was still sitting in bed, chatting with Pidge and Hunk, who were perched on the edge of the mattress. Lance lit up when he spotted Shiro, watching him with animated concern.
“Shiro! Are you okay?” Lance looked guiltier than he should be, and Shiro didn't like it.
“I'm fine. I should be asking you that, you know.”
Lance laughed, waving his hand dismissively. “I'm good, thanks to you. Anyways, I know we've been emphasizing team bonding to help with Voltron and all, but I don't think us almost turning into human popsicles is the best route.”
Shiro felt a small smile touch his face, crossing the room with Keith to sit on the bed as well. He'd probably still need to talk with Lance alone later and make sure he was really alright. That earlier conversation with Lance trying to belittle his importance on the team still bugged him. He would need to fix that.
But for now, they'd rest and recover.

Chapter 33/??
Relationship: Todoroki Shouto x Reader (Your/Name), (Full/Name)
Summit: It all begin at the Sports Festival when Shouto’s other half met Endevour by mistake. The student never thought to see his partner fight against his father just to show him that he is wrong. It started from that instant, Shouto’s new path started exactly from that moment thanks to his friends and his beloved one.
---
"Crap, they found it out already? " thinks Joel, "Oh yeah, the waves things... Maybe they saw a change in them and they understood it... Shit."
<<You can't decline it.>> the man stopped (Y/N) before she could speak, <<It's a high priestess's order.>>
<<She wasn't very sick?>> retorts Lenka, <<You didn't come last time to force (Y/N) to take the lead of the family? Now, she's fine?>>
<<She is not, but she is recovering.>> replies the other man, <<She ordered that the third coming of Kafka and her servants must return to the estate.>> they turn their heels and exit, then stop in front of Miraje and Hakkai, <<The third Kafka's heir has two new servants, your violation was helpful, so we will not punish you.>>
<<Her name is (Y/N), try your best to remember it, guys.>> Kirishima can't stand those people at all, <<I don't know who the hell do think you are, but you better treat (Y/N) well from now on.>>
<<Do you know who you are facing?>> the woman moves the hand from her mouth to Eijiro's forehead, even with that veil, it's clear that she is looking at the student with an angry gaze, <<Know your place->>
<<(Y/N)!! Hey, hang in there! Call someone!>>
The chiefs open the door again to check what happened and find the girl vomiting blood, bleeding from her nose and eyes. While her childhood friends explain what happened before, the chiefs notice her crystal earring cracking.
<<!! The beasts are going in berserk! (Y/N) control them!>> they're using some strange techniques to help the girl to repress the beasts that are trying to get out somehow.
<<I-I'm t-trying....>> the girl continues to vomit blood and crouch into herself to enduring the pain all over her body, <<T-they won't t-to l-listen to m-me...>>
A strange aura born around her, and the chiefs are ready to suppress her immediately, but Shuu and Joel punch them hardly enough to send them out of the room. Miraje and Hakkai stare at those men laid at the ground shocked.
<<If you want to kill (Y/N), I dare you fucking bastards to do it, but over my fucking corpse!>> both are so upset that it's new even for your grandparents, they’re always so calm, now it seems like they are consumed by their own rage, <<Move a step and this hospital will be your fucking grave!>>
<<Hey sugar cube, we're here, can we do something to help you?>> says Lenka scared of what’s happening, this is all new for all of them, (Y/N) never had symptoms like those.
<<I’m the one... who holds the reins....>> slowly, the aura goes back, <<Obey me... Go to your place...>> a few minutes later, everything is settled, and the girl recovers fast from the crisis. Tenka calls a nurse to change the sheets, while Shouto and Izuku helps you to clean yourself.
<<Come tomorrow to the estate Kafka's child.>> says the woman, <<This is worse than we thought. The high priestess must know this.>> she exits with a fast pace and talks to Miraje, <<Come with me, this is a huge emergency.>>
<<Yes ma'am.>> your grandma quickly follows the leader.
---
The next morning, (Y/N) and her friends, Todoroki and Izuku leave to reach the Ryuhi's mansion. The students are disorientated when they see a boat and a man with similar clothes to the chiefs on board, but without asking anything, they get in and the boat weighs anchor. While you and Shouto rest a bit, Izuku asks politely why they took a boat and Tenka replies to him while plays with a PSP.
<<The Ryhui family is nonexistent for the world, they live and work around the globe, but the high spheres of the family live in a phantom island not reported on maps. That place is used as a training camp for each member of the family to help them to achieve their dreams, or at least, that's what they say.>>
<<They have a fixation for traditions and all those stupid things... Someone in the past died because had broken the rules.>> comments Lenka listening to music, <<Everyone is kind there though, the high spheres are the asshole ones, so until we meet them, you can do whatever you want.>>
"E-eh? They kill people if they break the rules?! Where are we, in the medieval era?" thinks Izuku feeling a huge pressure on his shoulders, <<H-how we should behave then?>>
<<Treat the high spheres like shit.>> says Shuu enjoying the view of the sea, <<Let (Y/N) speak for you and try your best to not do something bad, or she will be in trouble.>>
<<I will never do that, Shuu-san.>>
<<Wait until they meet us to say that.>> the man shakes you gently, you are arrived, <<You're gonna eat those words up.>>
The boat anchors and stops right in front of a wooden bridge. Since Todoroki slept during the journey, Joel summits all the advices that he must respect on these lands, and the student memorized them in once, if they make problems for (Y/N), he will respect those rules better than a soldier.
The view that shows to them is wonderful, everything is painted in green, big cherry blossom trees form a way towards a huge staircase which leads to an enormous oriental castle....? What the hell is that?! Is so big, too big, what the fu-
The tiles are white as the snow, little houses here and there and that's only a side of that place... Their attention is stolen by the same man that was with you during the internship.
<<Young Master, what happened to your hair?>> he says offering his hand to help you to get off the bridge.
<<I wanted to imitate my boyfriend, so I dyed my hair.>>
<<Really?>> the man looks at you confused.
<<Of course not, silly.>> you lightly hit him on the arm and smile, <<I guess I used too much power when my body wasn't in good conditions.>> "No matter how many times I come here... I still hate this place with all my might..."
<<Oh, how careless I am, I didn't introduce myself.>> he bows in front of the students, <<My name is Ran and I am (Y/N)'s guardian. We already met during the Hosu accident, but pleased to meet you again, heroes Deku and Shouto.>>
<<Are you the hero, Ray...?>> asks shyly Izuku.
<<I am.>> Ran and (Y/N) see that a lot of people are forming a way from there until the castle, and the girl sighs already tired, <<Young Master, please bear with it. We can't break the rules.>>
<<We can't fucking do anything here, I see no differences.>> she whispers back.
Suddenly, everyone starts to sing with powerful voices and the group moves forward. Children, adolescents, adults and even old persons, male, female... there's so many people, what is this? Since the two young heroes are confused, Lenka explains what's happening.
<<Every time a Kafka's heir arrives, a hymn called: "Riot of a Hundred Flames" must be played as sign of respect and worship, since the ones like (Y/N) are considered as a god here.>>
<<How stupid...>> whispers Todoroki, looking at all those people lowering their heads while singing.
<<As the world recognizes you as Endevour's son and not for being Shouto, here is the same thing.>> whispers back Tenka walking behind (Y/N).
When they reach the top of the staircase, a huge wide space is waiting them. As the hymn reaches its end, the servants of the house, sit on their knees in a very polite pose, immobile as a statue. (Y/N) stays at the top of the group, staring at the side of the castle where there are a few seats and three servants are attending the arrive of the chiefs.
Shuu remembers to Shouto and Izuku to be mute and let (Y/N) speak, even if they’re the bearers of the beasts, she has more power inside the hierarchy, leave everything to her is the best choice right now. The silence falls upon them, everything is so quiet that Midoriya can hear the sound of the river, the sound of the leaves... A whisper rises from the servants group, starting a conversation.
<<I heard that she fought Seatiel...>> , <<We must reveal ourselves? What she was thinking?>> , <<I don't know, (Y/N)-sama was really irresponsible about the family.>> , <<She is planning to reject the right to lead the family, what a disgraceful child.>> , <<What you were aspecting from her? She is the Black Sun.>>
<<Seems that you did a big mistake this time, right, third coming of Kafka?>> one of the servant who’s waiting near the empty seats, speaks aloud, <<This happened because you didn't obey to our orders.>>
<<Shut up useless bitch, I'm not here to talk with you.>>
<<Mph, talks the unwanted child you are, who is the most useless one here?>>
<<Todoroki-kun for the love of god, restrain yourself!>> whispers Midoriya clinging to Shouto's arm because he was unlocking his quirk, <<We must bear with it, or else, (Y/N)-chan will pay for us.>> "God, Shuu-san was right... It's very hard to not say something back. Why these people are so mean with her? Is this the way to treat someone that you consider like a god?"
<<Talks the woman that couldn't become anything in her life, so she decided to become a slutty dog for a miserable master.>> Joel notices that the tip of her hair is turning black, she is losing her composure, this is bad...
<<You->> a door slides open and the three chiefs walk to their seats. Everyone lows their head a little, but not (Y/N) and her friends, they mustn't do that since they are in a higher position inside the family, and they want to treat those bastards like shit too. Two birds with a stone.
<<Welcome, Kafka's heir and her servants.>> speaks the man, <<Explain what happened in the Hosu prefecture.>>
<<I want to talk with the high priestess about this.>> responds the girl, <<You are not wise enough.>>
<<Your new servants have tamed the power of the beast?>>
<<I want to meet the high priestess.>> your friends understand right away that you’re at your limit, your voice is becoming harsher, <<If you reject my request, I'll do it by myself.>>
<<She is sick today, you must talk with us.>>
<<I've warned you.>> the girl walks a few steps followed by her group, but the woman who was arguing with before and the other servants block her, <<C'mon, do you think that these good-for-nothing can beat me? It's against my vow to hurt someone, I let you step aside voluntarily.>>
<<Dogs don't talk; when your master says come, you come!>> the other man shouts angrily.
<<You might not know this, but I'm a crazy bastard that'll bite her master.>> you smile evilly, <<This is your last chance, let me meet the high priestess.>>
<<Are you deaf-GHA!!!>> (Y/N) grabbed the woman's hand, twisted it and kneed her elbow, breaking her arm. Izuku jumps when he hears what sound makes the other servants that are crushed on the ground so easily and with so much power. They’re groaning in pain in front of the girl, who doesn't even look at them.
<<These bitches aren't suitable even for a warming up. Ran is much stronger than them->>
<<What is all this mess?>>
An authoritarianvoice stops everything.

After the Confession Pt1.
Marco stared into Star’s old bedroom with tears gathering in his eyes. He had to get her back. He just had to. His bestfriend just gave him a major secret and left, like he didn’t have anything to say. He didn’t have feelings for the girl, or did he? Marco was throughly confused. Did he like Star or no? What is life without her? I survived without her once, but no she’s in his life now. He wasn’t gonna let her go that easily. Marco felt tears streaming down his face as he turned around to see his parents and Jackie, Janna, StarFan13, Ponyhead, and even Kelly looking at him with sympathy. “What’s the plan, Marco?” Janna asked as Marco squeezed past the group of girls. “I’m not telling till you tell me.” Marco looked back with watered eyes and a screwed up face. “Did you know?” Ponyhead nodded. “Well duh! Wasn’t it obvious Turd?! I knew that when I saw you guys during the breakout. She cried and everything!” Janna joined in. “She started liking you after the Blood Moon Ball dude. I though it was obvious. And during the séance, she spies on you and Jackie ‘cause she was so jealous.” “Wait WHAT?!” Janna nodded. “TMI?” Marco waved them off as he walked to his room. His mom and the girls followed as Marco started digging through dress drawers. “How did you not know Marco? It was so obvious that I wasn’t that surprised when she confirmed the rumors.” Marco looked at his mom with squinted eyes. Sweat gathered on Mrs. Diaz's brow. “Rumors? What rumors?!” “People thought you and Star were a thing before you started dating Jackie. And since you hung out with Star more than Jackie, I started to think you guys broke up and you got with Star. But nope.” “All these rumors have been going around under my nose this whole time?!” All the girls nodded. Even Jackie. “But Marco, we know it’s not true…” Marco felt Jackie’s hand on his shoulder. He shrugged it away and yelled, “DON’T TOUCH ME!!!!!” Jackie jumped back in surprise at his sudden violence. She knew this boy was no longer right for her. She knew this boy was tied to Star by the strings if love. And she was no longer the block in that string. “D-Don’t touch m-me. Okay?” Jackie nodded as she herded everyone out of his room. “We’ll stop the party downstairs, Marco,” his mother called to him before closing the door. But Marco barely heard her. All he was focused on was his pair of Dimensional Scissors. He pulled them out of his drawer and looked at them. He had spent 16 years trying to get them because Hekapoo took Star’s. He held his head in confusion. *Why did I do that? I know Star’s my bestfriend, but… Were there more feelings involved?* Marco shook his head. *No. No. No. I. Like. Jackie. I. Don’t. Like. Star.* Marco grasped his Scissors and opened a portal to Mewni’s castle. _______________ Marco jumped through the portal to find himself right inside the castle. *There’s usually a barrier where I can’t get in so easily….* He looked around. No guards, no noise, no SOUND period. He walked through the corridors and realized even if they didn’t have electricity, it was still brighter. The castle was abandoned. And when Marco arrived in the kitchen, he saw a knife with engraved words in it. They were Spanish. So he could read them and no monster could. “Go to King Tom’s Castle in the Underworld to find out what happened.” This knife was meant for him. And it was Star’s handwriting. He felt a tear splash onto the engraved words. It filed through them and filled the words with tears. With a worries expression, Marco took the knife as a weapon and grabbed his Scissors before venturing into the Underworld. _______________ Marco instantly felt hot and wispy air slashed at him when he jumped through the portal. He felt his hair be blown out of wack as her knocked on the castle door. Tom answered with a grim look. He was brushing his teeth and his hair was splayed in different directions. He wore Love Sentence PJs and had on bunny slippers. Marco instantly stifled his laugh at the sight of Tom. Tom quickly jumped when he realized it was Marco and flames surrounded him, getting him dressed for the day. Marco walked in as Tom invited him and sat on the couch. Tom stood in front of him with confused eyes. He picked up a soda with his purple hands. “Why are you here?” “The Butterfly family wasn’t at the castle. They left a knife specifically for me. In Spanish.” Tom looked at the knife and scratched his head. “Yep. No monster could understand that. You want to know why they aren’t there?” “Not first. Star told me she had a crush on me.” Tom did a spit take. “She did WHAT?!?!?!?!?!” Marco was so lucky he dodged that spit take ‘cause it lay boiling on the couch and made a large hole. “Yea…” “Oh jeez. After all this time, she finally told you.” “Wait you knew?!” “Everybody knew. I knew after the Blood Moon Ball.” “What was that anyway? You got so mad over a dance-” Tim slammed his hands on the table. “THATS NOT JUST A DANCE! ITS A DANCE FOR YOUR SOULMATE!” “WHAT?!” “YES! YEP!” “EXPLAIN!” “SURE.” Tom cleared his throat. “Ahem. The Blood Moon Ball was made to bind together soulmates. Or… True Love. When the main dance happens, a res spotlight shines on the soulmates of the ball. That dance combines them together for all eternity.” Marco’s eyes grew wide. “So, Star and I are soulmates.” “Yep.” “True love.” “Yep.” “Forever together.” “Stop rubbing it in.” Marco felt his face flush. “I know now know my answer. I don’t like Jackie. I love Star.” “Jeez. Way to rub it in.” “Sorry Tom.” Tom sighed and began to drink his soda again. “They hid in the Forest of Certain Death. The Butterflies are in the large cave that leads under ground.” Tom snapped a gave Marco a map. “Use this if you want to find them.” “Okay.” Marco waved good bye to Tom and before he could step into a newly cut portal, Tom stopped him. “Marco, if you see Ludo, run. He is possessed by Toffee the monster. And he is stronger than ever with Star’s other half of the wand. You must be careful.” “Okay demon.” Marco jumped through the portal and landed right in front of the Forest. He closed his portal and turned to see Ludo/Toffee in front of him. “Got Da-” Before Marco could finish his sentence, the crystal in Ludo/Toffee’s hand shot out towards Marco and engraved itself in him hand. Marco screeched in pain as his skin tore open. Suddenly, he heard voices. It was only one voice. Toffee. “Stupid boy. You are so easy to overtake since you’re human. Your love for that nuisance has gotten you in danger. Shame.” Marco tried to stop listening but he couldn’t. It echoed all around him. Finally, Marco felt himself give in. Toffee now controlled Marco’s thoughts and actions. And he laughed as he took the map out his his pocket. “This is way too easy.”

Trials (2/3)
…Nothing worked.
On the first day, they removed the spear blade still embedded in Kyrene’s chest and grimaced more at the seemingly endless black sludge that dripped out. Maybe that was all that needed to happen?
Her wounds refused to heal; her heart refused to beat.
The body was stripped of armor, very carefully cleaned and tended to before receiving a clean gown. A part of the infirmary was isolated. Camilla stayed and visited when she could, murmured small pleas and bargains as if the body would respond. When the sun dipped below the horizon and the moon rose, Lyth remained, staring pensively
---------
On the second day, Lyth frowned.  Kyrene was still ‘here’.  She was a little buzz, a little warmth that pulsed weakly within.
“What am I supposed to do?  How am I supposed to help?”
There wasn’t enough for that little piece to whisper back, but it was enough to feel.  Enough to bring on a sense of an idea.
What if--
               I’ll try this—
                                  Maybe here--  ??
Sometimes, before, she would be able to sense clusters of energy within the raven.  Spots that felt the tiniest bit warmer to the touch when her fingers fluttered over.
There had been one occasion…hadn’t there?  Before Kyrene had been fitted for the obsidian armor the Nohrian army wore. Arrowheads had been buried deep, but Lyth had been able to ‘feel’ them out, ‘call’ them to her.
Would that work here? Could she ‘call’ to the heart and make it pump?  Could she ‘command’ the lungs to breath that sterile, irritating air that surrounded them?
Would those gentle, caring eyes open once more?
Lyth tried.  She tried and she tried and she tried, hours upon hours on end.  There was no clear connection.  Something was blocking her, something was meddling with their connection. Sometimes she would receive the barest response—a muscle would twitch here and there, but that was all she could manage.
When Camilla arrived that evening, Lyth had tears in her eyes.
Why couldn’t she do anything?  What good was the contract if it didn’t do the most basic thing it was designed to do?!
The Nohrian Queen offered what comfort she could:  This time was a firm embrace and whispered reassurances that she barely believed herself. Hot tears welled up in her own eyes and she fought every drop that fell.  No, be strong.  Be strong. There has to be somethi—
Wait.
The realization came to her in the middle of wiping a tear away.
Kyrene’s blood had always remained red.  Why didn’t she recognize what it could’ve been earlier?
What if she had been cursed?
Camilla was not an experienced dark mage, but surely there were tomes on hand.  What if she could call on Odin for his expertise?  If it were a curse that stopped the contract with her dear dragon from working, could she find a way to break it?
Surely, if it was man-designed, it could be broken…!
I need to go check, I need to research, I can do this much, can’t I? Lythie, please stay strong!
She placed a gentle kiss at Lyth’s temple.
Wipe your eyes she murmured I will not rest until I find a cure if it is, indeed, a curse preventing her from returning to us.
Always known as a ruler with a steel resolve, she refused any further meetings for the rest of the day –save to call on Leo’s former retainer-- and settled into one of several libraries to scour every available book, tome, scroll, scrap of parchment.
Camilla did not sleep that night.
---------
On the fourth day…they despaired.
Though the body did not decay, there was still no response from any remedies, any last trick a healer could pull to break the supposed ‘curse’, any amount of energy Lyth tried to expend…
Kyrene was still ‘not there’.
In the end, the dragoness could not be consoled.
In the end, Camilla was struggling to keep from breaking down.
In the end… they were almost useless.
-------
In the stillness of night, two strangers stole through the castle, both cloaked in black.  They avoided patrols, almost as if they had surveyed the area before.  No footsteps echoed along the corridor walls, but if anyone strained their ears to listen, they might have heard a sound much like feathers rustling in the wind.
One figure scoffed upon entering the infirmary.
“The healer on duty was napping.  Are all ------ this useless?”
“Hush.”
Even though the contractee tried, and tried, and tried with all her might, sleep robbed her of her senses.
“Keep an eye on her, young one.  We need her to stay quiet for as long as possible.”
“Hmph.”
The older one removed the hood of her cloak.  A sigh escaped as pink eyes examined the fallen raven before her.
You attract all sorts of trouble, don’t you?  She murmured as her translucent fingers ghosted over certain points  --many of which had been run over in the same manner before.  Throat, heart, lungs, abdomen…
“How unfortunate.”
There was no easy way to access that critical slice to purify it.  At least…not that she could immediately see.  What her eyes couldn’t tell her, the scarred trail of energy in Kyrene’s chest could.  With a soft rustle, the sheet was removed.
There.
The entry wound that refused to seal itself.  The humans had tried their crude way of stitching, but it did not heal.
“Aili, the salve.”  Even as she whispered this, she was removing the rest of her cloak and rolling up the sleeve of her healer’s dress.
“Are you really gonna—“
Healers often had the deadliest of stares.
“The salve.”
The contractee’s nose twitched as soon as the peculiarly sweet fragrance of the salve slowly filled the room.  An eye cracked open, then the other one.  By the time she was awake enough to figure out what was happening that there were two strangers hovering over the body of one of her beloveds she attempted to shout out, to bring attention to the intruders why didn’t the guards see them, why did the healer let them in, the shorter of the two, still cloaked and hooded had attempted to cover her mouth and restrain her.
Bad idea.
The two struggled, although Lyth only had her eyes on the albino woman that was currently inserting her arm into the wound no why would you do that don’t you dare and as she attempted to bite her attacker, she was only met with a firmly armored, scaled forearm.
Crrrrrr—un—ch---!
“Fuck!”
“Aili, keep your voice down!”
There was a rustle from the other side of the room, one that distracted Aili enough that Lyth was able to bodily pick her up and toss her away from Kyrene into a wall.  Lyth barely registered the panicked scream the human healer gave as she stumbled, tripped, and scrabbled her way back up to run out of the room.
They were swiftly running out of time.
The enraged dragoness, now sporting scaled armor of her own and a mouth full of very sharp very dangerous teeth advanced on the woman who dared to touch Kyrene, dared to reach in and—
There was a weight on her back, hot blood smeared across her neck as Aili wrapped her wounded arm around her throat.  That blood smelled familiar!
“How…how dare you desecrate her body like that!”  She roared.  “Thieves that come in the night!  Are you planning to take her heart?!”
There was a rush of stomping feet in the corridor outside. Reinforcements.
“How do you even get that idea in the first place?”  Aili scoffed incredulously, bouncing nimbly back to line herself up.  “We don’t want her filthy heart.”
Soldiers waited anxiously at the room’s door.  Wait for further orders, but prevent any escape. Do not enter the room.
The Queen in her nightgown and with her axe stepped into the room—
Aili rammed into Lyth, which sent her stumbling and careening into Camilla, and knocked them both to the ground.  Now that she had the space, she drew her twin knives and entered a defensive stance.
“Enough!”
What scattered attention there was soon focused on the albino healer.  She had since withdrawn from her exploration DEFILING of Kyrene’s chest, and from within the black contamination that covered her arm, there was the dull sheen of something like crystal resting in the palm of her hand.  “I understand your anger but we are here to help.”  Crisp, irritated.  “I’m sure the scalekin is the one our Sister has contracted to?”
There was a scuffle in response from Lyth as she tried to get back up.
“Don’t.  You’ll want to stay down.”  She gave a slightly pitying look to the dragoness before she turned back to Kyrene’s body, and s l a m m e d her clean hand down onto the exposed chest.
…-ump…
It was an odd sensation that only Lyth could feel.  As if another heartbeat layered over her own—
--THUMP!
And pain sizzled, burnt, electrified her own chest.  It was all she could do not to just curl up from the fire in her lungs, the searing heat along her side her ribs her heart.
She barely registered Camilla’s desperate attempts to soothe, to find what was wrong when—
Ghh---hurr-gack!
…What?
There was someone screaming along with Lyth.
Or was Lyth screaming along with them?
Someone was being soothed at the other end of the room…or was that a scolding?
“Just because I pat-…-st time doesn’t-….-pulling this.”
Camilla froze at hearing the voice answering weakly.
“—‘m sorry.”
Kyrene.
“She’s back.”  Camilla breathed out, her hands balling up in Lyth’s clothing.  “Lyth, Kyrene’s back.”
