Truly an unforgettable moment for all of us. Last weekend we managed to finally meet up for a 10+ people photoshoot from FFXIV in Germany, gathering people from four different countries and the results are breathtaking. I’m so happy that we managed to make it work, the weather was not kind to us on that day, but we persevered and made it work nonetheless. I’m so happy I can call all of you my friends after this experience ♥

I got a final (?) photoshoot in Fordola with Erik Paredes photography at YetiCon. The location was perfect and this is the first of the shots to come back.

This cosplay has lasted for 6 years now. It was my first crafted cosplay after stopping cosplaying in 2004, and my first foam build. I learned so much and, not going to lie, made so many dear friends due to this cosplay.

I won a hall cosplay prize from the Dangerous Ladies and it made me cry, because it felt like such a good cap on this cosplay's life.

I may do one more shoot in her with Aelynn's Lyse, so she isn't being thrown away just yet.

In another time, another place

There’s just something about characters speculating how their lives could have gone differently that is pure catnip to me! Especially characters where, but for a few key choices, they might have wound up as a hero rather than a villain, or vice versa.

Now combine that with having an NPC cosplay alt, meaning that I spend a not-insignificant portion of my FFXIV playtime wondering what that character would think about lots of random stuff.

End result: an entire menagerie of Fordola-centric plot bunnies! This post will be an attempt to corral said bunnies into a form that’s at least somewhat organized. It will also grow over time as I add writeups for new AUs if and when they become relevant to what I’m posting on this sideblog!

To Catch a Falling Star: Instead of leaving for Doma, Lyse spends Stormblood infiltrating the Skulls, with the ultimate goal of convincing Fordola to defect to the Resistance. When your army gets decimated, just steal the other guy’s one, you know?

Eventual Fordola/Lyse, with a complicated enemies-to-lovers arc.

WoL!Fordola AU: Not WoLFordola like the ship, WoL!Fordola as in the original Warrior of Light, the Meteor Survivor who fought at Carteneau, who destroyed the Ultima Weapon, who ended the Dragonsong War… he died to Zenos at the end of Stormblood. Oops!

Now Fordola is the only one left who has the fighting skill needed to even have a chance of filling his shoes.

This is the timeline I’m basically writing as I take my alt through the MSQ. It starts out as a continuation of TCaFS (so technically TCaFS is one of my WoL’s backstories in a roundabout way haha). But it gets even weirder. Fordola might be the new WoL, for example, but it’s Krile who is the shard of Azem!

WoL was out fishing, Fordola did the sidequests instead: Not an AU so much as a common premise I use. Fics in this series assume that everything is the same as in canon, including there being some non-specific WoL (maybe even your WoL!) who exists and follows the normal MSQ. However, while they’re busy offscreen somewhere, Fordola is forced to pick up the slack for them and do sidequests where she doesn't usually appear.

My first FFXIV fic (Sympathetic Resonance aka "why is Fordola in Eureka?") would be part of this series, as would my WIP Sorrows of Werlyt fic.

8th Umbral Calamity: Shadowbringers never specifies whether Lyse and Fordola are killed by Black Rose in the bad timeline. What if they weren’t? Lots of fun (and by fun I mean tragic) ways that could play out!

Originally, this was going to be a kind of Apocalypse/Road Trip AU, with Lyse and Fordola traveling through a Black Rose-devastated Ala Mhigo and trying not to to kill each other before they reached Cid and the Ironworks.

Then I was writing an FFxivWrite entry and realized it would be interesting to combine it with another AU I had, where Fordola gets executed by the Resistance and winds up accidentally bodysharing with Lyse…

I am cheer emoting in your inbox at Papalymo thoughts. We love an old bitchy lalafell. His potential was unmatched. But man side note I’m really sad we never got to see Papalymo interact with Lyse *as Lyse.* and also the Yda lore never made sense to me like. Did Moenbryda know Yda’s little sister was cosplaying her? Why does nobody ask Lyse-as-Yda about her little sister? Did anybody even know Yda HAD a sister? What was their age gap? So many questions so late at night. I’m gonna block Stormblood back out of my memories. Anyways yeah Papalymo very good, wish he would have been able to have more characterization before he died, even if he couldn’t have made it to ShB

I LOVE WHEN THE LALAFELLS GET MEAN. tataru is holding me over with her zest for life but o really do miss having a middle age lalafell to play the straight man to the other scions antics. I think he wouldve had a lot of fun chemistry with post-HW urianger when his personality picks back up and i think he and yshtola would been a great powerful of likeminded study-based knowledge seekers. literally he and yda felt so contained To Just Each Other that he didnt get ANY time with even the other scions that just the thought of us getting a chance to see how he felt about everyone feels like it wouldve been amazing. I MISS HIM

I realized that I hadn’t posted the other cosplay I worked my ass off for this year! Lyse Hext was a badass cosplay to do and took me so fricken long to figure out the small details like the boob window, given that she is a drawing/video game character and boobs don’t have to conform to actual shapes in those scenarios. I was Velcro’d, snap’d, and tape’d into this cosplay and I loved it. I didn’t get detail shots because I had a few details be finicky and I want to get them fixed for next time but I’m pretty damn proud of this!!

Happy Wednesday everyone. :) I’ve been on the down low for a while on Tumblr, but I wanted to show you my progress on my latest project. I plan to cosplay Lyse Hext from Final Fantasy 14 for PAX East 2018 this April. I’ve worked on most of the fabric part of the costume already and will start on the craft foam armor in March. Stay tune for more updates, I’m really satisfied with how it’s coming along!

Hello! I’m Alice,* and I’ve been playing FFXIV for about two and a half years now. I just finished Dawntrail, and it’s the first time I’ve ever been fully caught up on the MSQ!

Since my main blog (thewhitefluffyhat) mostly focuses on other fandoms, I decided to make this side blog to collect my various FFXIV projects and thoughts. These will mostly come in two flavors, associated with my main and my alt!

Main: Alice Rozen

This is my main, Alice Rozen! I do have some lore for her - the basic idea is that she’s the theoretical character of the same name if the broad strokes of Rozen Maiden happened in Eorzea by way of that spooky Gridanian goldsmith - but the primary thing I do with her is glam and cosplay.

In particular, all her job role glams are themed after the Rozen Maiden dolls, and one of my first priorities will be to do some updated photoshoots of them with the new graphics for Eorzea Collection.

(*I realize the distinction between Alice-the-player and Alice-the-character is a bit confusing but ‘thewhitefluffyhat’ is a mouthful so everyone in my FC just called me by Alice’s name and it stuck. Ah well, it's not like I RP in-character as Alice very often...)

Alt: Fordola Lupis

In addition to Alice, I also have an NPC cosplay alt of Fordola! Who exists because I finished Stormblood on my main, realized there probably wouldn’t be much Fordola in the next expansion, and then played the game again from the beginning just so I could drag this dumbass kicking and screaming through Shadowbringers.

Anyway I’m very much a yuri fan, so while I do love Arenvald, most of the Fordola stuff I’ll be posting is Fordola/Lyse.

Eventually, I really want to do a series of mini-fanfic posts telling the story of what happened so differently in Stormblood that Fordola ends up in the role of the Warrior of Light… once I get more experience with posing, that is!

Absolutely in love with how delightfully goddamn STUPID every character in FFXIV is. Yes, they are all very smart and competent and whatever.

But! SO! FUCKING! DUMB!

Estienien and Alphinaud's bizarre inability to understand what money is or how it works. Alisaie and Y'shtola regularly burning their souls to ash to achieve very mundane things that a NORMAL SWORD COULD DO JUST AS WELL ALISAIE! Every single thing Urianger has ever said or done. G'raha running a whole ass COUNTRY and still calling himself Tia. Tataru is not exempt, I remember ARR, this bitch cannot tell when a giant monster is 3 feet behind her because she's too busy cosplaying the 7 dwarfs. Krile being peak Age 22 in thinking she could just go ask the feds to not let the world end and expect help. I don't even need to remind you all the wild shit Lyse is on.

This game really said, "the smarter they are, the dumber they are; the dumber they are, the dumber they also are" and leaned ALL the way in!!!

Everyone has a hat full of doctorates, a fist full of military commendations, and head full of empty!!!
