BABY, I WAS BORN IN EFFIGY!
[Image ID: A digital piece with a palette of reds, oranges, and yellows. The colors are eyecatching, intended to beam brightly at first glance.
The featured character is a verdelite gemsona named Spades; inspired by Steven Universe. They had short curly, fluffy hair and a button up dress shirt that is slightly buttoned down to the chest in yellow. They are wearing a suit and dress pants in red. They wear enhancers in a red color with enhancer fingers in a yellow color. Lastly, they wear a belt and goggles in dark red with yellow accents.
Their arm is outstretched, enhancer fingers prominently in a finger-gun gesture and pointed towards the camera. Yellow lines emphasize the finger-gun and stretch to the border ends of the drawing. One of their eyes is red and bleeding out; lines similar to the yellow lines, instead with orange borders, reach from the bleeding eye to the ends of the drawing. Their suit and hair is waving to show movement and energy.
The background has a cel gradient from yellow, to orange, and to red. The yellow forms a striking, thick line behind the character while the orange and red are closer to the borders. In the yellow line is the words 'PIN-EYE' that stretch from the corner of the drawing to the middle with a slanted perspective.
Spades' expression is neutral with widened eyes and a shrunken red pupil on their non-bleeding eye. There is clear energy, yet a lack of strong emotion. /.End ID]

this morning the sun is shining! I've talked to my cat, painted my nails, and now I'm reading over some of jhariah's lyrics again. Over the years his stuff has really soothed me, and felt relatable, but the newest album TRUST CEREMONY really. really. hit deep worse than the rest. The general composition of it and his signature addictive sound is amazing, but especially this time the lyrics are fucking crazy.
I keep sitting stunned listening to the whole album. the focus on feeling everything, no matter how painful is really alluring about these ones. pin-eye in particular feels like laughing through it and going out like a dying star. some really heavy lyrics just barely hidden behind all the grandiose accompaniment.
this killed me! took me out when I finally heard it!
maybe layer dance is really straightforward in it's meaning. it's like screaming and pulling your hair, begging for things that won't ever happen. I've found this song is a really good place to channel my desperate anxious need to fit in. so that I can stand out in the real world, sometimes you just need to scream that you're scared.
Sasuke - also hit me like a punch. as I'm trying to do recovery from a lot of things, the lyrics here totally got me! especially the one about trusting your foundations
russian doll - having these two songs back to back really is one of the worst pains I have ever felt in hearing a song (-_-;) I remember hearing this one verse and properly leaving my head for a minute seeing everything flashing before my eyes...
I'm getting good at continuing to the next day. even though a lot of the time it does bring "new lows", so . yeah.
TRUST CEREMONY:
not to use this word but. this feels like a catharsis I think? it's such a soulful song. by the time you've heard all the others, and get to this, you can just feel that this is it
a lot of the album, notably pin-eye, focuses on loving yourself, and loving the present. being excited for the future but not burning your eyes staring at the horizon all day.
EXAMPLE FROM PIN-EYE ! I really felt this comment he made... I keep thinking now about how I'm "living" but not really Living!
The floaty feeling of this song takes you away from everything. it's the perfect end to an album which makes you think about so, so much all at once. it's like being told to finally take that breath in again, and feel the ache in your chest. find home in it. learning to live with both dread and excitement.
also these last lines are INSANE
#jhariah#yapping tag#this was meant to be a review of what I'm going to do today but I gor sidetracked sorry#album review
