The crown jewel of Mandroid’s accomplishments (with assistance from the Constructicons) is the GigaZarak, a MetroTitan sized Arachnamec built by studying Cybertronian biology and mythology. GigaZarak is a great destroyer from Cybertronian legend feared by Autobots, but revered by the most battle hungry Decepticons.
Replacing the Howl’s Moving Castle mecha, this is the ultimate weapon used against the Earthbound Transformers referencing the Zazorigun fight in Goldran.
To change up Mandroid’s origins beyond loosing his arm, he also tragically lost his eldest son and wife during the Great War, with his youngest son Ethan surviving but loosing his leg. Ethan looks up to the Autobots, but has mixed feelings about Megatron working with GHOST, but he at least acknowledges Megatron’s trying to do good. During most of the first season, Ethan is recuperating at the hospital, getting accustomed to his prosthetic. Mandroid almost kills his own son by accident when he stages an attack against the Autobots using Devastator & Scorpulator, the lumbering Combiner accidentally damaging the hospital Ethan is staying in. Mandroid, in his fracturing state of mind, blames the Autobots for his blunder, making the situation palpable for himself.
After GigaZarak is defeated, it was taken into custody by Schloder who had taken control of GHOST, after Mandroid and his sister were incapacitated.
When the Decepticons later raise Terratronus, it’s Ethan who helps protect the town piloting GigaZarak with Grahm and his friends‘ help, alongside the Maltos, Sky Lynx and Devastator.
Ethan is the complete opposite of his father: optimistic, a bit lackadaisical, doesn’t hold a grudge, & has faith in the Autobots & Terrans. He shares his father’s scientific mind and is a whiz at machines, but lacks the drive to apply himself much. His skills largely come into play helping the Autobots, which he’s more than happy to do, but he longs for something to call his own to distance himself from his increasingly maniacal father. When he’s discharged from the hospital, he shadows the GHOST aligned Autobots to find something that strikes his fancy to make his own path.
He’s fascinated by the Transformers and wishes to know more about them, Cybertron, & their culture much to Optimus, Megatron and Alex’s delight. He becomes friends with the Malto kids and Grahm’s group, though the Maltobots are understandably a bit wary of Ethan, Thrash in particular due to a bad string of luck with the Decepticons.

Oh dear time to pull out the big guns! Val Helsing concept art time!
Valentina and her best friend Rafail Morris on their off-time, in their civilian attire. Valentina enjoys the time off but as the story goes along she’s always keeping an ear to the wall for any magical, supernatural, or otherwise weird goings on in the area. In the meantime, some coffee and dumplings and a nice breeze and reading the parts of the paper that aren’t job-related are really nice, especially the reviews for any plays in town or even news on movies that came out. Rafail meanwhile as a changeling is trying to get in touch with his Earthbound Faerie (those not living within the magical realm for one reason or another) roots in any way he can by getting into all the mystical stuff that was popular in the 1920s. He’s been trying to get good at fortune telling and he swears one day he’ll get it right. Changelings also have a rather large appetite so for someone so delicate looking, Rafie can put it away. He and Valentina have been best friends since they were kids, and remained that way even after the spell on him was lifted when he was around thirteen and his changeling nature became apparent (changelings never know who they really are until they reach a certain age so it’s always traumatizing for them, so Valentina’s continued friendship ended up really helping Raf out).
For some concept art and some worldbuilding, every Ranger must at one point cross over into the magical realm, The Other Half, where the Fae dwell, and find a designated group of Seelie to help them finish their training. While most of it is simply testing the Rangers to see if they understand the complexities of Faerie politics and etiquette, there are trials to undergo as well, and those who manage to pass then collaborate with their magical teachers in forging a holy weapon. Valentina’s great granduncle only really ever needed his mind, but it doesn’t hurt to have a blessed lance around.Valentina’s (and Rafail’s as well) designated Seelie are The Gentle Ones (or the Blajini), small, sagely, pious, and kindhearted rat people who live by the rivers where the two worlds become closest.(as for the Gentle One in the picture, don’t worry if the lynx pounces on him, they might be small and, well, gentle, but any Faerie can easily defend themselves, especially from mortal animals)
I might’ve also forgotten to explain the lynx. He’s still in need of a name, but essentially a Ranger after gaining their family badge (see the griffin emblem that Valentina has in her artwork), the thing that allows transport/communication with The Other Half as well as just an occupational symbol, will lead you to an animal companion, as animals are always sensitive to magic and the supernatural and can help locate such things with ease. No matter the animal, once they sense they’ve met their companion, they are bonded, so some are fortunate enough to have the undying loyalty and companionship of a bear or a tiger. A lynx works just as fine though. (Rafail’s companion by the way is a raven).
Old Dracula may be smoke and ash never to rise again in spite of what the movies or video games may tell you, but that doesn’t mean that Valentina has her own rogue’s gallery. Among them is Florin, a rather pretentious/beauty-and-high-art-fanatic vampire who is obsessive over her and drinking her blood (and only becomes moreso when he knows she is a Ranger and ergo “forbidden fruit”). The feeling is not mutual. Valentina does not want to become a vampire and knows he’s a total creep and being a creep is not romantic and no means no and if he can’t respect that then a boot to the head it is. By the way, Valentina’s shoes are steel soled-and-toed, but finished with silver. Comes in very handy when your only option in a fight with a creature of the night is to go melee.
That’s about it for now! Vote Valentina if you so wish, or vote Vellatra instead, either works! Have a good one!

You Better Bee-lieve It
Hey! Guess what!
I’ve never played Earthbound before. But, I had a day off yesterday! So I downloaded it onto my 3DS. And I’m gonna play it now!
Which means…running commentary as I play a really old Nintendo RPG that everyone considers a classic!
(And for the record, I’m spoiled on some things just due to regular pop culture osmosis, but not everything. Please let me finish before any spoilers!)
Aaaand here we go~
The war of the worlds against Giygas
Okay never played the first Mother game either. Assuming that I don’t need to know anything about it for Earthbound.
We gonna get MINT FLAVOR
Okay I know you can name like four characters, soo…what to do here…
Dammit I don’t have enough name space for Tutant, Meenage, Neetle and Teetles
What other group of four names can I do…
Ah heck. Everyone’s names are Eenie, Meeny, Miney and Mo.
Pet’s name is Doggo
Favorite food is homemade SUGAR
And favorite thing is…GUESS
The year is 199X. A time of logos on the backs of shirts, purple ketchup, and ‘Independence Day’, which apparently happened outside right now
Sheesh this screen feels…so tiny…
Mom has resigned herself to my immediate adventuring. Doggo has resigned himself to sleeping.
Well, it definitely sounds like the air’s full of aliens out here
These policemen seem to have issues
“I was fine because I eat garlic and work out” ‘K then, dude
Oh, HIIII Pokey. I remember your boss stage being absolutely horrible in Subspace Emissary.
WHELP since I can’t go look at the glowing rock yet, I’m gonna go sneak into this other house
Which turns out is Pokey’s house and is also kinda boring. FINE THEN
Geebus Pokey enough with the shave and a haircut on the door at four in the morning
You’re comin’ with me, Doggo. I don’t trust Pokey to be much help.
Uhh, thanks for the funds, phone dad!
I see you there, little Murkrow, don’t think I don’t see you suddenly appearing once I actually get a party
IT PECKED MY EYES. But it’s okay cause the crow has cool sunglasses.
I realized a psychic power! Nifty.
GEEZ you stupid crow stop dodging and pecking my eyeballs
Doggo, no! Come back! You’re the only useful guy around here so far!
A bee from the future is here to tell me that aliens are gonna mess up everything
“We need you to prevent the apocalypse, but don’t be anxious!”
Yes Pokey, we all know you got boss battle stuff coming up, you don’t gotta telegraph it like this
Sheesh Mr. Bee, can you…tone it down…while we’re walking here
Holy cow this bee will fuck you up if you’re an alien robot from the future
Guess we’re returning these weird boys to their house
Lady you…you got a little something on…yikes
No wonder Pokey is so messed up, I mean look at these people
SHE KILLED THE PSYCHIC FUTURE BEE
Top 10 Anime Deaths…Betrayals…IDK here. How was a bee holding a stone??
Yeah quick question here lady what the heck is wrong with you
Ahh I know this song! …I’ve heard the Smooth McGroove version of it!
And, God sends a circus photographer from heaven.
I want all games to say “oh baby!!” when you level up
Oh! Some battles play out automatically if you’re a high enough level! That’s super useful
Sure, strange guy…I’ll just follow you…into your weird creepy basement…
This guy like “so yeah, I found this golden statue of Ba’al in my cavernous basement, what do you think?”
It’s even got its own creepy jingle
Yeah…okay guy…you do that, bye
That crow dodged like five times before I finally landed a massive critical hit, what the heck
hey there Pigpen. Just kinda…hanging out, okay
Yeah, I suppose a rando in a Jason Vorhees mask wouldn’t have much to say, would he
Oh, hey, Mr. Resetti is in this game. Nifty!
“The arcade is full of sharks” coooool
I’M BEING POSSESSED BY THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME DESIGNER
Okay, that “cheap bracelet” is noooot cheap
What the heck you are asking way too many personal questions there, blue suit guy I only just met
Well I think I know what the boss of this area will be thanks to Sir Spoilsalot over here
Hospitals: they’re like Pokemon Centers for humans!
“I wonder if ‘Earthbound’ has been released yet” She must be from the Berenstein universe
Ah good, the police are ineffectual, just as expected
And I got killed by two guys in gimp outfits…I suppose I should’ve anticipated this
Gahhh did I lose all that progress?! Nooooo
Well, maybe this is a good excuse to take a little break here. We’ll continue with more on this later~
#lynx plays earthbound#about time I got a new game commentary here#even if it's not a new game#also uugh my schedule is busy we'll see when I can even get back to this

Star Fox 2 - A New Hope
Star Fox, Star Wing, Lylat Wars, whatever you know it by has always had a weird relationship with publisher Nintendo, being a flight combat game with a cast of cute furry woodland creatures taking the fight to monkey emperor Andross in 1994, developers Argonaut impressed many with it’s groundbreaking polygon graphics on Snes provided by the SuperFX chip, built into the cartridge the chip basically treated the Snes as a pass-through device allowing it to render visuals which may have been impossible on the original hardware, although this early implementation of 3D graphics would come at the cost of basic looks, terrible draw distance and an inconstant frame-rates, although the emulation scene and even modders had success to overclock these chips many years later leading to better performance.
Argonaut continued working on it’s hardware leading to the SuperFX2 chip alongside Star Fox 2 designed to showcase new abilities of the chip, although that honor would end up going to Doom and Yoshi’s Island as Nintendo and Shigeru Miyamoto wanted to a clean break between 3D graphics on games consoles and worried about comparisons to 3D games on more powerful systems at the time like the PlayStation or Sega Saturn. Star Fox 2 aimed in to bring a whole host of new ideas such as all terrain mode, new pilots Fay the dog and Miyu the lynx, rivals the Star Wolf team, walker mode for Arwings, multiplayer modes and a single player with multiple endings, these ideas would later be re-used in later Star Fox titles. Nintendo EAD would take up development on the next Star Fox on Nintendo’s upcoming N64 resulting in a retelling of the original but with impressive smooth 3D graphics, all terrain battle mode, fully voiced cast, multiplayer modes, new vehicles like tanks and submarines, most importantly though pay have been rumble support. The game being bundled with the Rumble Pak it would help make a gimmick into an industry standard with Sony and Sega releasing there own versions.
Easily becoming an N64 classic it would appear Nintendo somehow managed to miss what made Star Fox 64 as loved as it was with the next entry in the series being a Star Fox skinned GameCube remake of unfinished Rare Ware N64 game Dinosaur Planet. Rare’s effort with the IP would be closely compared closely to The Legend Of Zelda - Ocarina Of Time and garner positive reviews, this entry would also introduce new pilot, Kat. Q-Games, who had been founded by original Star Fox programmer Dylan Cuthbert would develop Star Fox Command for the NDS, being a combination of strategy and flight combat, including multiple endings and horrid stylus controls that would drag down what may have been an interesting concept, Command would gain mixed reviews. The last Gamecube entry would be Namco’s attempt with Star Fox Assault, a sequel set after SF64 which returned to flight combat on rails and managed to include horrible third person on foot sections and level designs which just didn’t manage to meet the same standards of SF64.
After mixed reactions to these games in 2011, Q-Games alongside EAD would both return to the Star Fox series remake Star Fox 64 as Star Fox 64 3D for the 3DS, including new visuals, re-recorded dialog, gyro controls and 2 modes that catered to a more classical experience or a new mode balanced towards the gyro controls and 3d effect. The remake reviewed well despite lack of online play and lack of the original rumble feedback SF64 had but reminded people why Star Fox 64 was a solid fun game. The success of this remake would lead to the development of 2 new Star Fox games on the Wii U, Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard. Star Fox Zero would be another reboot of the series, with Miyamoto stating he wanted the presentation to be structured episodically, drawing inspiration from television series Thunderbirds, featuring classic and experimental levels and ideas. Despite having this entry co-developed with Platinum Games the game would be reviewed negatively due to a reliance on using the Wii U Gamepad gyro controls and having to switch between the Gamepad screen and TV to see some targets. While I personlly found Star Fox Zero to be a good entry a lot of public outcry seemed to focus on the issues the game had as major ones and tower defense pack in Star Fox Guard was mainly viewed as being a low budget extra.
By this point it would be hard to not assume that Nintendo may have been ready to give the Star Fox series a rest in a similar fashion to F-Zero after new IP like Splatoon have managed to connect more with an audience based on its artistic direction and strong online community, it comes as shock when the biggest surprise from the Snes Mini Classic announcement is that Star Fox 2 will come included in this unit alongside the Snes original, assuming that Nintendo and Argonaut have finally overcome rumored legal issues over patent of the Super-FX chip in regard to emulating it, which is what may have prevented the original Star Fox and Yoshi’s Island releasing on the Virtual Console. Cuthbert has stated in an interview Nintendo Life conducted in 2015 that Nintendo had given access him to a finished ROM of Star Fox 2 which had been reviewed and debugged by Mario Club and that this build contained many elements not seen in a leaked earlier prototype which many fans maybe familiar with. Many will argue in this age of digital gaming where the idea of being able to release old games, prototypes or even un-translated games shouldn’t be an issue with only minimal work needing to be done to make it a commercial product available to fans, as seen by Nintendo releasing a NES translation prototype of Mother on Wii U as Earthbound Beginnings or like Sega with Monster World IV bringing it with a new translation after 18 years to Virtual Console, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
With NOA actually saying with the Switch that they had been trying to listen to customers more and actually read comments on popular sites like Neo-Gaf it actually seems like they may actually mean it and not using it as a PR piece. With the announcement of 2 new Metroid games, going region free with the switch, cross-play between Xbone and PC gamers, a Netflix style subscription based service of its back catalog with added online play, it is actually starting to feel like some of the impossible dreams could happen, Mother 3 which has been an outcry for its release in English ever since it’s 2006 release on Game Boy Advance, could we finally see that happen now with the eShop and the Switch? or if more outrageous ideas like Marvelous, For The Bell The Frog Tolls, Fatal Frame 2 or 4 or maybe even Captain Rainbow? While I won’t be placing any bets on any of those games coming out anytime soon or at all the announcement of Star Fox 2 actually being released officially by Nintendo still feels like part of a crazy dream and makes me wonder if bigger or better surprises are in store? With the subscription service Nintendo has planned lacking in solid details right now I can only ponder at the potential this service may hold.

And that about does it. Please vote Valentina if you want! Or vote Vellatra, either works.

Leaf This Place
Cripes, it’s been awhile, but finally have some time to do more Earthbound here!
So, let’s see if we can proceed on to Twoson…
But first gotta stuff my face with hamburgers to get that health back
Ohh I don’t trust that obviously not part of the background mushroom sprite
Such a jaunty tune for “ramblin’ evil mushroom”
Thanks…for the McD’s ketchup packet…
He got ‘shroomed! …I have no clue what that does or how to fix that
OH it makes you walk backwards, that’s annoying
Well I died and I got no clue how exactly that happened, but oh well, at least I hadn’t gotten that far
Geebus this place is crawling with mushrooms
OH good we’re now at Twoson, was afraid that was gonna be an even longer walk
“Happy-Happy Village” That’s either very sincere or else EBIL IS AFOOT
“You don’t know how to ride a bike…me neither…”
This feels so very Pokemon
Why do you guys keep trying to sell me stuff if you can’t actually sell me stuff?!
Holy cow lucky sandwiches are expensive
Well I guess I’m buying a teddy bear since this random guy says it’s useful…hey this IS Pokemon!
Oh, that’s right. I’m here to find Meeny. And she’s apparently been kidnapped. Oops!
Did…did your parents just abandon you to join a cult, kid
I suspect your daughter didn’t actually leave for the big city, lady
You’re her dad and you didn’t even realize she was kidnapped? Even the stray dog outside knows!!
There was a teddy bear in this present…I didn’t need to buy one…s i g h
Well look at these helpfully labeled Fruit Kid signs who happen to be inventors.
Screw you Orange Kid, I’m investing in Apple Kid. You look like the kinda inventor who never actually writes anything down, and what good does that do me??
“I was in the last war, so I’m not scared of ghosts” G….Good to know
YEEEAH LET’S JAM WHILE WE BEAT UP THIS HIPPIE
OH the teddy bear is like a damage sponge! Okay that is actual useful
Dude why were you just hanging out on your roof waiting to attack me?
Geez I could really use a magic butterfly about now
“They said they were going to make her some sort of human sacrifice” …Y’all seem pretty calm about this
Okay all your open air market stuff looks great, but I have like…no inventory space here…
WHELP I guess we’re off to village of the weirdo cults, this should be fun
Wasn’t the teddy bear already a pile of fluff? Oh well, I have a spare
What the heck this tiny UFO is so cute!! It’s got eyes!!
Why is the music so spooky here
“For some weird reason, a giant iron pencil is blocking the path” …Yeah I gotta say, I wasn’t expecting that
And the bridge is also out, so I don’t even think I can cross to the village yet…
Oh Apple Child finished his thing already. HA, I was correct~
That’s…an incredibly specific solution to an incredibly specific problem. Thanks!
“OK, but your teen years will be ruined because you didn’t buy an Egg” ….I really can’t argue with that
Whelp…let’s make the trek back to that pencil then…
I’m starting to think this weapon doesn’t have great accuracy…
Magic butterfly, please get your butt down here to me!
heLP the tree is following me!
I sneezed damage onto myself?!
Whelp I’m about dead here
Okay now I’m definitely dead, I’m out of healing items and PP and three plants just ganged up on me
WELL uh there’s lots of tough enemies ahead, and at least I got rid of that pencil, so maybe we’ll pick this up another night soon
But at least, SOME PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE
#lynx plays earthbound#I think I've died more consistently in this game than any other RPG I've played

Have you ever heard of the LISA video games? Lisa the First, Lisa the Painful or Lisa the Joyful? It reminds me of Undertale a little...
I swear I’ve gotten this ask with this EXACT wording, or very similar, before...
#ask lynx stuff#I haven't played but I'm plenty familiar with the LISA series anon#it's really not like Undertale except that they're both meta-heavy RPGs inspired by Earthbound#they're completely different genres and themes#Anonymous

What are your opinions on the Earthbound/Mother series?
I don’t know much about it considering I haven’t played them. I tried to play through Earthbound, and got a little ways into it before the 3DS I was playing it on got borked. I may try it again whenever I manage to get a Switch. From what I saw, I liked the quirkiness and dialogue in it a lot! It was surprisingly difficult to play, though.

About My Earthbound Playthrough
So!!! I was going to post more Earthbound progress pretty soon, except I ran into a massive problem today with my 3DS! It was not charging, but I still had it under warranty, so I took it back to store to exchange for a new 3DS. Then of course, I had to do a data transfer between systems.
Except! That got screwed up and I lost all of my saved game data in the transfer!
Including nearly four years’ worth of progress on Pokemon Shuffle, which I have been playing diligently since the game first came out!!
Needless to say that I am! Really! Fucking! Pissed Off! Right now!!!!
And! This also means that my Earthbound save has been lost! I would probably need to re-purchase the game at this point, and I’m really sorry guys, but I’m not much in the mood for it. It was cute and fun while I was doing it, but wasn’t driving me hard enough for a second purchase and starting all over. So I guess for now, my Earthbound playthrough’s canceled. :[
Sorry to anyone that was following that. I’m not sure when I’ll do a running game commentary again. Maybe once we get a KH3 release date, I’ll do something with replaying all of the KH games before KH3 is out? Different from usual commentary that I do? Is that something people would be interested in?
In any case...yeah that’s the deal with Earthbound. Really hope your day is shaping up to be better than mine.
#lynx plays earthbound#kingdom hearts#that's four years worth of work and buildup gone#I am so so unhappy right now

Mr. Fancy Ants
Okay, finally got some time to do more Earthbound! Let’s see if I can’t make a little progress here!
Okay, I…don’t think that I am doing this right. Every time I try to save and then come back, it just freezes where I saved?
I don’t think the virtual console works super great with this…
Let’s see if I can’t do better against Frank with the cheap bracelet equipped
Geez louise that was literally five guys ganging up on me at once
Sheesh, FINALLY beat this big old mob boss. Had to level up a bunch to do it…
Such a chill battle theme
AND YOUR LITTLE DEATH ROBOT, TOO
Wow, now mob boss in a backyard who tried to cut me with a knife is all supportive
“Since you beat up a bunch of punks, you can now talk to the mayor”
Mayor Prickle looks like the lovechild of Agent Smith and Paul Blart
Got a Mayor Dewey vibe going on personality wise, tho.
No problem with this shack with a hole in the wall in the back
These are some hardcore cave mice
Like why do they keep getting critical attacks on me??
…Apparently a gang of slugs has managed to sneak attack me
So is this perhaps the origin of “but nobody came”
So I gotta look out for dots on the ground because it might be ants trying to kill me dead
Geebus fighting like six things at once would be a lot easier with some more party members
Okay we had to stop and go back to save…let’s try and tackle that dang mountain again, what a slog
Oh hey leveled up and got a new PSI power!
Man fighting ants is a lot easier when you can take them on one at a time
WHY ARE THERE SIX SLUGS AT ONCE HERE
They’re just very slowly pecking away at my HP like the slugs they are
Oh hey I see the giant step…it is, in fact, a giant step…
Hmmm…this looks very boss-ish…
Despite the fact that I got this far, I’m gonna go back and get better healing items and save and stuff. Don’t want to keep getting my butt kicked like I did with friggin Frank.
Or…I could get killed by an ant and a mouse…because they took two turns in a row??
Oh well, got another level in there. Beating up ants one at a time sure is good for my buffness and smartness
Yup I was right, it’s a boss battle
I AM KING ANT, I AM MAD YOU BEAT UP MY SMALLER BRETHERIN ONE AT A TIME
WOW I just barely got through that, totally thought I was going to die there
Was saved by the smaller ants just heckin running out of psychic powers and then trying to use them anyway
GOODBYE DUMB GIANT ANT
I have found this footprint and a puppy! Or at least the sound of a cute puppy.
WHELP THAT WAS INDEED A THING
Apparently now that I beat up papa ant, everything in this cave is just trying to blatantly ignore me
Yeah you better run away, punks
Oh no it’s the feds come to yell at me for stomping on ants and slugs
At times like this, kids like you should be burning in hell playing Nintendo games
So in order to go to the next town…I have to beat up five policemen…okay
“The cop turned back to normal?” Normal cops aren’t super great either!
But at least they’re not doing…whatever weird dance that guy was
Y’all are heckin’ weird
Captain Not-So-Strong now, huh
Whelp, I think we’ll head to Twoson and meeting Meenie at a later time. Gonna stop for now~
#lynx plays earthbound#this was actually two sessions but the first one was too short to justify its own post#I want! A party!!
