yaps, its me
Hi peeps! This is actually the first time I'm writing a blog. I hope you would understand haha, I'm actually a private person but I guess its time to share some and I'll take this as an opportunity to share my story with you. Thank you for stopping here I appreciate it a lot.
Hi I'm Jezra, yes that's my name and I am 18, and a taurus baby. I love listening to music and surfing on the web mostly about art, fashion and food. I'm an introvert, I enjoy my time alone most of the time. I do socialize, I interact with others, its just my social battery easily to run out that's why when there is an occasion with relatives or sometimes I attend birthdays I suggest myself to talk less. Taking pictures using my phone is also my habit, most of them are sceneries, food, solo pictures, and pictures together with my love ones. Some people think I'm serious but I'm actually a calm type of person with witty personality. I'm a big lover of noodles, ice cream, and pizza. I love wearing earrings and watches and I'm planning to collect one day. I also love styling, I just love seeing myself looking elegant at least formal.
Now I'm currently taking civil engineering course at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela (PLV). Reason why I choose this course, is because I thought it was also at least same with architecture but I soon realize they completely different. Peer's influence, sadly she didn't pass on this course and I have no choice to take this alone. I actually worry a lot as we are now on face to face set up, I find this course hard as my senior high school strand is not related with this course.
Luckily I met some people that later on I became close with. Shifting from online class to face to face is hard especially in introvert people like me. It takes time to adjust but what I believe its normal that we are in adjusting part, because one day will comes and everything will become normal. One thing I manage the most is time, especially in doing assignment and activities. I use checklist to keep on track with my pending school works. I usually set alarms for time tracking so that I can manage my time effectively. And when it comes on going to school, I better do all the things at home early so I don't get late, especially since it's hard to catch a ride and always reason is due to heavy traffic. During vacant I do some household chores and do my school works. I also study the lessons at home especially on my major subjects for me to cope up with the lectures. When it comes to my scores not good but not bad, but I always tell to myself to do much better next time. So far college is stressful but I learn a lot now as a freshmen student and I know this will be great guide to survive this college life.
That's all for this blog, thank you for reading!!!

The Butterfly Who Unfolds Her Wings
A simple, selfless, social butterfly, but an ambitious girl as what they perceive, yes, it is me. I'm Alexa Mae Canaria Davas, 18 years old, a first-year civil engineering student at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela. I'm one of the Dr. Pio Valenzuela scholars for batch number 26 as well.
To be honest, there's nothing special about me. I'm just a typical girl with a lot of pressure and expectations. Why did I say so? I'm the first, or, should I say, the eldest, child of my parents. I have two siblings who are 15 and 5 years old. I've also been an academic achiever from kindergarten until senior high school. Since I am the first child, I have many responsibilities to fulfill. I don't want to fail. I'm scared of failing in all aspects of my life. It would be my biggest downfall. I don't like being a disappointment to my family or, most especially, to myself. My parents did not pressure me that much. In fact, I'm the one who pressures myself since I expect more of myself. I don't have a lot of talents and skills like others do. But I can sing, dance, and make everyone feel wanted and appreciated. I don't want to see people left behind, since I know that kind of feeling. My hobbies are just reading books, watching Asian dramas, and making some fictional stories or quotes about life if I have free time. During my senior high school years, my professors often praised me because of how I constructed words in every essay or other written activity. I don't know, but I like expressing myself through writing rather than being vocal.
I am an ambitious girl, but honestly, I don't know what career or what I want to become. I want to be successful, but I don't know what my dream is. I have a lot of dreams, but I can't see myself in those fields. One thing that I am sure about is that I want to become a cardiologist if I'm lucky enough. If fate allows me to. I want to pursue being a doctor, but sadly, my parents can’t afford for me to study at any private medicine school. Every decision I made was influenced by other people. To tell you the truth, there's no chance that I decided for my own. Taking the course as a civil engineer is not my first choice. It was my third option. I took the STEM strand as my senior high school academic track at Our Lady of Fatima University. For the sake of improving my mathematics skills, I can draw houses too, but I am not as good as others. My parents and relatives want me to study engineering since that’s the only course they can afford and since I’m just about to study at a state university. They also said that engineering can make me successful too since it is in demand and a high-paying job. Given the factors I have mentioned, I considered just taking civil engineering because it was aligned with my senior high school strand, even though I doubt if I can. Every night before entering college, I silently cry since I know that I can't be an engineer because I'm not that "good" at mathematics. and I have no interest in the engineering field. I know for myself that I will be struggling.
This course is very challenging, and it really affects your mental health. There's been a lot of change for me since I started studying engineering. Back then, it was not okay for me to just get at least a passing score because I am a competitive person. I can't afford a low score or grade. I'm always aiming for a high grade. But now, just a passing grade really makes me happy already. I started to like my course, although I was scared to take it before. This course really taught me to be a risk-taker, to believe more in yourself, to study harder and harder, and that it's fine to cry. This is such a fulfilling course that I don't want to be an irregular student and shift to another course next year. I will strive harder to graduate from this course and be a future civil engineer in the near future. I know I can since I have my family, friends, and God by my side.
Shifting from an online class to a face-to-face class again is quite hard. It seems like a new experience to me to be back in a normal class after almost 3 years of online classes. Most especially, you have to maintain safety protocols, and your actions are limited, unlike pre-pandemic. My coping mechanism with this kind of setup is that I have to socialize with other people, but I am still reminded of safety protocols like wearing a face mask and keeping a social distance. Additionally, I'm teaching myself to do group study with my friends and classmates because I was used to studying alone rather than brainstorming, and I'm starting to build my self-confidence in public speaking after not being exposed to other people during lockdown.
To sum it up from this blog, you know the half-side of me. How I chose what course to take in college and my coping mechanisms during the shift of classes from online to face-to-face. To everyone who will be reading this, I hope I can inspire and motivate you that not all the time, what we dreamed of is really meant for us. We need to see the bigger picture, to be practical, and to transcend the things that limit us from being a better version of ourselves. Let's be risk-takers and not be afraid of what lies ahead.

Nag-iisang anak nina Maricel B. Valenzuela at Joseph B. Dacillo. Ako si Justee Marie V. Dacillo, labing pitong taong gulang. Nakatira sa Tacurong City Sultan Kudarat at nag-aaral sa General Santos Doctors' Medical School Foundation Inc., at kasalukuyang nasa ika-labindalawang baitang.
"If growing up means I'm slowly losing him, then I don't wanna grow up anymore."
Life traumatized me so much when I was 9yo.

Mahal kita.

NSTP Module 3
Barangay Wawang pulo, Valenzuela City
Lazaro, Isabella A. L_Med/Sci
Hazardous Places
Safe Spaces
Best Practices
Hazard Identification
Vulnerability, Elements, and People at Risk Management
Capacity and Disaster Management Assessment
REFLECTION, SYNTHESIS, and ANALYSIS
Barangay Wawangpulo is located in an area surrounded by water and I think one of the issues that would really affect the barangay is Typhoons. Many of our houses in the barangay are made of light materials and of that I think it will cause different problems to our people.
It would be better if every one of us is ready and well prepared with regards to the calamities or disasters that might affect us. I think one of the best ways on how our Government can secure this preparedness is by conducting different seminars so people will be aware on what to do to save themselves and others.
Disasters and calamities can never be scheduled but the preparedness of each community members can be acquired in anytime. So for me, the main reason why our government should address this issue in our country is for them to be able to raise awareness and make our people ready and prepared.
For me, change and help should not always a government initiated effort but also a self-initiated. If we can start the change and the willingness to learn on how to be prepared, this micro effort will give a macro effect to the country. If everyone is knowledgeable, our government will be able to secure each members of our community.
As a resident of my community Barangay Wawang pulo, it is my duty and responsibility to help my fellow youth and citizens to be always ready and well-prepared in times of calamities and disasters, I can do these things by spreading awareness and share my knowledge about the DRR.

Just one app needed in Mandaluyong, Pasig, Valenzuela, Antipolo
#PHnews: Just one app needed in Mandaluyong, Pasig, Valenzuela, Antipolo
MANILA – The city governments Mandaluyong, Valenzuela, Pasig, and Antipolo have partnered to integrate the use of their contact tracing applications for more efficient measures that will contain the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
In a virtual ceremony on Monday, mayors Rex Gatchalian of Valenzuela, Vico Sotto of Pasig, and Andrea Ynares of Antipolo forged a network consortium agreement with Carmelita Abalos of Mandaluyong to streamline interconnected digitized contact tracing solutions within their jurisdictions.
They virtually signed a data-sharing agreement for the Valenzuela Contact Tracing, PasigPass, Antipolo Bantay Covid-19, and MandaTrack contact tracing applications through the use of quick response (QR) codes.
Iisang QR code na lang (It's good news, especially to Pasig residents who often visit Mandaluyong City. We don't need to download a new QR code and we don't need to fill up contact tracing forms. We need one QR code only)," Sotto said.
Ynares cited the importance of unifying efforts to combat the pandemic, hoping that the agreement would serve as a model for more local government units (LGUs).
Meanwhile, Abalos urged the public to remain vigilant and observe the minimum health standards while the country is still under the threat of Covid-19.
As quarantine restrictions are gradually eased, it is still important to continue to implement massive contact tracing in every city and across the country)," he said.
Gatchalian said the use of digital contact tracing solutions under the agreement is covered by a safety net and adequate safeguards, which are covered by the data-sharing agreement under Republic Act 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
The confidentiality of data and all sensitive information will be strictly observed under the agreement as various business establishments, including malls and department stores, in the cities of Valenzuela, Pasig, Antipolo, and Mandaluyong have already started implementing a "no QR code, no entry" policy. HIGH RANKED MEDICAL UNIVERSITIES IN PHILIPPINES? It's Easy If You Do It Smart
The MBBS profession is widely recognized, respectable and coveted not only in India but also world-over. People see doctors as next to god, because this highly virtuous profession grants one the power to heal and give a new life to fellow beings. To become a doctor is a dream come true for every diligent and ambitious student. In India, the percentage of doctors as compared to the total population is negligible. The complex nature of getting admission to this course in India is making the life difficult for MBBS-seekers. When they don’t find suitable medical colleges to get admitted in India, they tend to look for MBBS abroad study. There are some MBBS abroad destinations that are found to be very desirable for Indian students and Philippines is one of them. The research reveals that only 5% students get admission in the government medical colleges through the common medical entrance exams and the remaining students take admission in private medical colleges or do seek for top medical colleges in Philippines or elsewhere. Getting MBBS degree from Philippines is very easy and cost-effective. There are many High Ranked Medical Universities in Philippines which have been both approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and World Health Organization (WHO).
In India, the number of students competing for each medical seat is extremely high. With the introduction of NEET, it becomes more tedious for students to take on both board exams and entrance exam like NEET simultaneously. The regulations of NEET exam continue to be the bone of contention among medical aspirants since its introduction. Therefore, if a student doesn’t qualify NEET, he/she won’t be able to pursue MBBS. In such cases, the colleges in countries like the Philippines may help.

Meet Rizchel Masong, physicist
1) What do you do?
I am currently an M.S. Physics graduate student under the Optics/Photonics Technology, Instrumentation, and Conservation Science (OPTICS) Research Group at De La Salle University, Manila. I am working on a site location study for a radio astronomy observatory using RFI Mapping. I also study ethnoastronomy-- working with regional star maps, charts, and catalogs.
In my research, I analyze a wide variety of parameters that directly affect Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). Our study aims to develop an RFI Map of the Philippines that can help determine the best site for the construction of a radio telescope.
2) Where do you work?
I study and do research at the Physics Department of De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines with the Optics/Photonics Technology, Instrumentation and Conservation Science (OPTICS) Research Group.
3) Tell us about the photos.
[Top:] This is me with my poster presenting the initial results of my site location study for a radio astronomy observatory at the 2nd International Science Graduate Scholar's conference held in Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) last May 2017.
[Bottom:] Aside from doing research, and outreach, I explore different places where I can try different activities such as wall climbing, zipline, etc. This photo was taken at Shercon Ecology Park during our institutional field trip.
4) Tell us about your academic path so far.
I went to Apolonia Rafael Elementary School (formerly known as Mapulang Lupa Elementary School) and Mapulang Lupa National High School. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education major in Physical Science from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela. These schools are located in Valenzuela City.
Currently, I am completing my M.S. degree in Physics at De La Salle University. I am planning to take my Ph.D. in Astrophysics (abroad) with a specialization in Radio Astronomy and continue what I have started.
5. Anything else you'd like to share?
Other than research writing, I have this huge interest in watching anime, reading manga, and playing games-- more on retrogames, such as Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and the like. Still, my best relievers are high quality memes. :D
When there is an opportunity, I volunteer for outreach programs with advocacy in education for indigenous communities. I love serving our kababayans-- and I love to offer what I can give and share when there is a need.
I often hang out with my colleagues and friends and share beer, food, and coffee. With my girlfriend as well (who is writing her lesson plan at this moment), who keeps me motivated everyday.
As closing, I choose to live by these words from Richard Feynman: "Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesn't matter. Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough."

Dating pinaghiwalay ngunit ngayo’y iisa.
Viva Valenzuela!

I am VALENZUELANO!
“VALENZUELA? Saan yun?”
This city is my birthplace, hindi man ako dito lumaki, I must say that wherever your heart and soul lies, babalik at babalikan mo that’s why I am here again.
Ano nga ba ang Valenzuela City?
Valenzuela City is just a simple place and consist of simple people that lives happily with dedication and passion. For me, Valenzuela is the home of Arts and volunteers, everyone showcase’s their talents and are always motivated to do everything that can help the city government improve and achieve the success.
Valenzuela is such a blessing for every Valenzuelanos especially to us, students.
Free with quality but priceless - EDUCATION.
Hindi kami nagbabayad ng tuition fee, we are learning without paying anything, as long as we study hard and help and serve the city, the learning never stops.
Let’s make everything worth it and make our citizens proud of us dahil hanggang sa paglabas natin sa syudad na ito, dala pa din natin ang titulong isa kang Valenzuelano.

I am Mary Jane Comillas Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies Major in Theater Arts Scholar ng Valenzuela.
I am VALENZUELANO!

Disiplina Village Lingunan gets new day care center
#PHinfo: Disiplina Village Lingunan gets new day care center
Valenzuela PIO photo of the new Day Care Center inside resettlement site Disiplina Village Lingunan (DVL)
CALOOCAN CITY, Feb. 23 (PIA) -- The City Government of Valenzuela has provided its in-city resettlement sites with facilities vital for community building after inaugurating a new Day Care Center in Disiplina Village Lingunan (DVL) over the weekend as part of the city's 23rd Charter Day celebration.
Disiplina Village Lingunan is the third in-city resettlement site in Valenzuela City. Last October 15, 2020, the City Government transfers 164 families to the resettlement site, rescuing Informal Settler Families (ISFs) residing in danger zones or disaster-prone areas in the City.
Breaking the stigma of relocation, Mayor Rex Gatchalian affirms that the city welcomes its Disiplina Village residents with a better and livable community as the local government continues to invest in the facilities to support their needs.
City Vice Mayor and Education Champion Lorie Natividad-Borja also emphasized to the residents the importance of having day care centers that cater to children as she announced the construction of another day care center to be built inside DVL.
Day Care,” Vice Mayor Natividad-Borja said.
The new Day Care Center will provide every student with the hope of a brighter future assisting them and realizing their full potential -- helping them become well-rounded individuals who can contribute to the society. This new facility will be used once restrictions are lifted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The inauguration is also attended by Liga ng mga Barangay President Jonjon Bartolome, SK Federation President Goyong Serano, and officials from DVL and Barangay Lingunan.
Vice Mayor Natividad-Borja also greets the City as it celebrates its 23rd Charter Day, saying “Ang patuloy na pag-asenso ng ating lungsod ay dala ng pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan nating mga Valenzuelano.
