Equestrian Equipment – Providing Complete Comfort And Stability
The world of equestrianism is a realm where the bond between human and horse transcends mere companionship, it's a partnership built on trust, skill, and understanding. From the thundering hooves of a galloping stallion to the delicate maneuvers of dressage, every aspect of horsemanship demands precision and dedication. Central to this world are the tools and equipment that aid in both horse training and rider safety, ensuring harmony between horse and rider.
Equestrian Equipment - Essentials for Rider and Horse
1. Saddles-
The saddle is the cornerstone of equestrian equipment, providing comfort and stability for the rider while distributing their weight evenly across the horse's back. With various styles such as English, Western, and endurance, saddles are tailored to different riding disciplines and preferences.
2. Bridles and Bits-
Bridles consist of headgear used to control the horse, typically including a bit, reins, and other components. Bits come in diverse designs and materials, exerting different pressures on the horse's mouth to convey commands effectively.
3. Stirrups and Stirrup Irons-
Stirrups provide support and balance for the rider's feet, crucial for maintaining stability and control. Modern stirrups come in a range of materials and designs, catering to various disciplines and rider preferences.
4. Girths and Cinches-
Girths and cinches secure the saddle in place, ensuring it remains stable during riding sessions. Available in different materials and styles, these essential components provide comfort for the horse while preventing saddle slippage.
5. Protective Gear-
Both horse and rider require protective gear to minimize the risk of injury during training and competition. Helmets, body protectors, and boots are among the essential safety equestrian equipment designed to safeguard against falls and impact.
Enhancing Performance and Communication
1. Lunging Equipment-
Lunging involves exercising the horse on a long line to improve fitness, balance, and obedience. Lunging equipment such as lunge lines, lunging whips, and cavessons facilitate controlled movement and communication between horse and handler.
2. Training Aids-
Training aids and wireless instruction devices are tools designed to assist in refining the horse's movements and responses to rider cues. From side reins and draw reins to training forks and pessoa rigs, these devices aid in developing balance, suppleness, and engagement.
3. Jumping Equipment-
For riders involved in show jumping or cross-country disciplines, specialized equipment such as jump poles, cavaletti, and jump cups are indispensable for training over obstacles. These tools help horses develop confidence, technique, and agility over fences.
4. Groundwork Tools-
Groundwork forms the foundation of a horse's training, establishing respect, communication, and obedience from the ground up. Tools like long lines, tarps, and ground poles facilitate exercises that improve responsiveness, desensitization, and trust.
5. Equine Technology- In recent years, advancements in technology have revolutionized horse training with innovative wireless instruction devices such as GPS trackers, heart rate monitors, and motion sensors. These tools provide valuable insights into the horse's performance, health, and biomechanics, aiding in targeted training and rehabilitation programs.

Sebastian was well inured to such comments, and whilst he hadn’t been so presumptive as to expect such behaviour from the gentleman, he was at least prepared to meet it. With nothing more than a small quirk of an eyebrow, he got to his feet and unhooked a cavesson hanging from the stable door. He offered a polite smile to the gentleman as he passed by, his horse following close at his heels without command. Leading the colt out into the yard, he took him at once to the post. As he gently fitted the cavesson and reached for the lunge-line and whip set against the wall, he spoke without turning to look at the young man again, coiling the line around his hand. ‘I’m an exerciser at the garrison in Little Dorking. Training the cavalry horses.’
Morning sunlight had now penetrated through the night’s haze, and the sky was lightening beautifully clear. Already in his boots and jodhpurs, Sebastian worked the colt up to a trot around the post, showing off his sleek coat and his tapered posture. His legs were a master study in sound construction. Every angle and gesture suggested motion. His gait was a little disorganised, and as Sebastian sped him up he whacked himself a time or two in the foreleg with his hind hoof. But he still came boldly up to Edward when he was finished, threw his head forward and then levelled his dark, wide-set eyes on the young aristocrat as if paying him the honour of a nod.
‘I’ve been racing him at point-to-points in the villages; he’s a gate-to-wire winner every time. I've never seen a horse faster. It’s true,’ he acceded, smoothing his hand up the colt’s side as he came up alongside Bentrick, ‘your father’s dogs probably have more breeding than I do. And he’s no descendent of one of the greats. He needs a good trainer. But I think he’s exactly what you need. A bargain animal whose talent has been overlooked by your competitors.’
@discreet-eccentric-affairs
Dawn had hardly broken over the haze of the horizon and the sky was still a brooding purple when Sebastian was awoken by the sound of footsteps on the concrete, followed by the stable door creaking open. He angled his forearm over his eyes and sighed through his nose, attempting to turn his face into the bale of hay he had used as a bed and avoid waking. But as his shoulder came across to hunch in on himself, he felt the clumsy unfolding of the warm, dark body of the colt that had been heating his side. The beast got to its feet, snorting a breath that starched the cold air in the stables white. Sebastian was left squinting up at the stranger, prickles of cold rising rapidly on his skin under the thin shirt he wore.
‘This is Bentrick,’ he found his voice eventually. ‘Here for the race. The lord of the manor offered 16 shillings to try out. I’m his jockey.’

finally ordered some paddock boots to replace my old cowboy boots.
my cowboy boots where and are great quality but they hurt my fucking feet so bad. they're too narrow and the heel is way way too high for me- I have started the bad habit of riding in my vans as a result. hopefully these paddock boots will curb that habit and give me some casual riding shoes that dont hurt to exist in.
#i also got romeo a cavesson bc i love to impulse purchase#/j its bc im lazy and this one is like#a halter a sidepull and a lunge set up and like#i love using just one item for everything#and its Padded

@classicaldreaming I have a question ☝
Since you lunge with a cavesson over a bridle, do you think this set-up could be a good alternative to putting one on top of the other ?
#'cause you made me want to get a cavesson#but getting it over the bridle seems a nit of a hassle for me#🙈🙈#lunging#tack#cavesson

My lil Billie, with his sticky stifles we’ve been told lunging will help him so today was his first day wearing his new cavesson! This time last year he wouldn’t come near me when he saw I had a headcollar never mind anything else so he’s come so far….doesn’t quite get that lunging isn’t going out to graze yet but all will come with time! 😂
#horseblr#my ponies#Billie#palomino pony#there were days it took me 2 hours to get his headcollar on once 😂

Her first time ever wearing either a saddle pad or a surcingle, and she was completely unbothered about them. I was expecting maybe a little bit of hopping about when I tightened the surcingle, but nope! She’s a star. She even let me put the cavesson on over her ears like a big girl. The toughest thing each day is still getting her to stand while I put MTG on her sore bald spot, which is understandable. She’s just so game to try stuff ♥️
(Some progress with Merlin as well, got to scratching him all the way up the face and on his withers with a lunge whip, but he’s still super nervous about hands. Still, bit by bit.)

While my DIY cavesson does work, it’s annoying me so I bought this for Daisy. It is so cute and ya’ll can’t tell me any different haha. I like how it has the halter attachments built in, can’t wait for it to come in the mail.

official training log: We lunged for about 10 minutes tops, just at a walk, going both directions for an equal amount of time. I kept it short and sweet, and left it on a high note. He got to hand graze for 20 minutes after, just to affirm that being taken out of the pasture to go to the arena =/= boring work time. Skipped out on a whip on advice of his co-owner, and used only vocal cues and body language to keep him going (as you can hear here). Considering our history with lunging (frustrating for one or both of us), this was huge progress for us! This was also our first time using a cavesson.
feel free to give any (kind, helpful) feedback- lunging and body work is not my strong point in horsemanship. Keep in mind we use r+ and 'soft' traditional methods, so anything harsh / strongly aversive / some aspects of natural horsemanship are not going to connect with us.

Ok so
I’m going back to basics with Smokey. When I first started working with Smokey (years and years ago) I lunged her a LOT and did a lot of groundwork. But I stopped once I felt she had “grown out of” needing to be lunged all the time and I pretty much do it anymore! I noticed that recently Smokey has not made gains in body condition and seems rather unconditioned despite being ridden about the same as Duney, who has made good progress with his conditioning. I think lunging will be good for Smokey to build muscle and stamina.
I do have panels for a round pen but for now just work on the long line will be fine. I bought a lunging cavesson, a surcingle, and side reins (It has all needed to be adjusted to fit Smokey who sooo tiny and it’s hard to find pony sized stuff). The side reins and surcingle are to discourage Smokey from putting her head in the air and hollowing her back out as she’s worked. I think we are going to focus on spirals and walk-trot-walk transitions to try to build up her top line.
I really wish I just had a horse who was younger, bigger, and not an asshole, but I won’t hold it against Smokey and I will do my best for her to get her in shape and see if she can be returned how she was, fit and spry and fun to ride!

So here's the thing.
Lot of people on here always screaming about an echo chamber, saying that people who are friends with Emma/part of Emma's discord are just part of a huge clique who come screaming out of the woodwork whenever there's a hint of disagreement.
But that's bullshit and that's not what's happening here. There's two things at play here. Firstly, there's a few of us who just generally happen to agree on the same sort of horse training techniques. We mostly all ride dressage or at least include dressage with jumping or eventing and have similar perspectives on training. Do we all agree 100%? No! I know Lexi weeps dressage tears that I don't lunge with a cavesson and Emma doesn't agree with using a rope halter for anything, among other examples. But we all broad strokes agree on fundamental training and welfare issues. I can't speak for the rest of the discord but I know when I see a post on Tumblr, I decide whether I agree or disagree on my own, regardless of what Emma and the rest of the discord think. When we disagree we have lively discussions about why that is and what perspectives led us to think that way. Just cause y'all don't see it, or we don't agree with YOU doesn't mean we're an echo chamber.
Furthermore, if we're an echo chamber then so are you? Except your echo chamber is about how it's okay to make personal attacks on the internet which, sorry, uncool.
Secondly, those of us who are in Emma's discord are in fact ... Friends! Some of us in real life! Actual people who know and like each other! And you know, the funny thing is that when random strangers attack your friends on the internet you want to defend them? That's not being cliquey, that's having FRIENDS and if you want to make unfounded, bullshit takes about Lexi's riding then you can fuck RIGHT OFF.
The lot of you are always crying about how it's impossible to have a discussion on Tumblr and then start making personal attacks the second someone disagrees with you. It's incredibly toxic and you know, the past like three instances of drama have had nothing to do with us? Other than posting some dumb memes and giggling over the fact y'all are so worried about what Dmitri does with his horse, and yet you are all frothing over how awful we are. Take a look at your own nasty fam 🤷
#horsblr drama#honestly#this is just so funny#yall are so mean?#how do you not see that youre the villains here?#they taught me critical thinking in library school#maybe you should learn some
