Importance of Dhotis in Indian Culture
Veshti is a long unstitched cloth, generally white in color, measuring about 4 to 6 yards in length. The traditional attire of men in Tamil Nadu, Veshti is wrapped around the waist across their legs. Although similar to Dhoti, this South Indian attire is not entwined between the legs. South-Indian men pair the Veshti with Kurta and Angavastra (a shoulder cloth). It is super comfortable and breathable to wear.

Non-binary Jon Kent for DC Gotcha for Gaza! I was fresh off of an Indonesian queer ballroom event, so I felt like drawing Jon in some half skirts and different styled sarong (lungi and futah).
Thank you for the fun prompt! We raised over 5.1k USD for this initiative, and I couldn't be prouder of the DC fan community for coming together to do this.

Latest and Classy Kurta Sets for Men to Slay In Festival
What will you wear to this auspicious festival? You will undoubtedly want to display each costume in front of visitors, especially on social media. It's time to start looking for clothing that will make you look professional. Do you have difficulty deciding what to buy? Don't worry; we will be there to help you as usual. We've gathered some fantastic kurta sets for men worn over premium vests that you can rock at this festival. Let's take a look without further ado!
Tumblr media
A complete traditional look:
What comes to mind when we talk about traditional men's clothing? It is, without a doubt, a dhoti! For decades, men have been accessorizing dhotis in various ways. So why not do it again this year at the festival? Not many people will think of this idea, which will undoubtedly set you apart from the crowd. You can wear it with a heavy or simple kurta in contrasting colors to complete your look and function. If you're unsure how to pair the two, we recommend purchasing one of our dhoti kurta sets. Choose a simple peach-printed kurta dhoti set or a printed Angarakha style set - you'll look great in either!
Trendy work all over:
On festivals, everyone loves to get dressed up and embrace ethnicity from head to toe. Do you have the same desire? If so, consider adding some bling to your plain kurta set. A men's kurta embellished with heavy work will look stunning. You can choose from mirror-work kurtas, reshamthread-work kurtas, or even Zardosi work kurtas. If you think it will be too much, we assure you that it will not! It will, in fact, increase your level of fashion sophistication. To tone down the bling effect, use similar works such as embroideries and patchwork. Experiment with different patterns and colors to make yourself stand out. Consider a salmon peach Resham embroidered kurta set or a classic white kurta set with embroideries. Have you already imagined yourself?
Sophisticated statement:
Are you looking for an outfit that will complement your personality? So save this outfit idea for yourself. To add a regal touch, pair a kurta set with a Nehru jacket or a bandi. For a more mature appearance, choose a subtle color, such as a matte grey patterned kurta set with a bandi jacket. Choose bright colors for a more cheerful look, such as a kurta bandi with mustard print. These sleeveless coats are very wearable. Any plain kurta can be transformed into a statement piece by pairing it with a printed, embroidered, or contrasting bandi.
Keep it minimal:
Many men prefer simple yet elegant ethnic wear, especially those who want to wear festive attire on regular days. A minimalistic appearance is ideal for such men! We have many minimalistic designs in kurta sets for men for you to choose from. We have a wide range in this category to serve you, from classic kurta pajama sets to basic kurta and churidars. Navy blue and white stripe kurta set, black and white printed kurta set, ochre shade bandhani printed kurta set, plain yellows, oranges, and reds - whew... we said the minimal range is endless!
Blooming florals:
The hottest month of the year is October. And at this time of year, when the festival should be in the same month, God better save us from the heat. Wearing darker colors is an absolute no-no! So, what can be worn in its place? Pastels would be ideal, but wouldn't that be too boring? Consider bringing in some lush, colorful flowers and leaves. That is a fantastic idea! Consider wearing a multicolored floral summer peach silk kurta set. Don't you look stunning in it? This cheerful-looking inspired idea is suitable for poojas, Bhaidhooj, and other formal occasions.
Stylish Lucknowi:
Elegance and Lucknowi kurta go hand in hand all the time. Almost everyone looks good in this style of kurta. It appears to be both modern and traditional. What if we asked you to wear a pale mauve Lucknowi kurta set or a mustard yellow Lucknowi kurta set? A Lucknowi can be dressed up or down with chinos, jeans, churidar, loose bottoms, or pants. Lucknowi kurtas with white cotton lungi online are light and comfortable. At the same time, it makes no concessions in terms of fashion. In fact, it enhances the personality. So, are you prepared to bring your charm to the festival?
Pathan inspired:
Consider wearing an all-black pathani. Isn't it fantastic? Pathanis, on the other hand, have a completely different vibe. While everyone else is experimenting with churidars and pants, why not go for a one-of-a-kind pathani outfit? Pathani sets are always the best bet! Are you concerned that it will appear too mainstream? Trust us, you'll look dapper in this look. Whether you prefer an apple cut soft yellow embroidered kurta with a salwar or a plain white pathani with a blue printed bandi, there are endless pathani styles that will shine in this festival of lights.
Comforting Pashminas:
If you're tired of wearing the same old designs, colors, and patterns, we recommend giving the pashmina material a try this time. Kurta pajama sets for men made of pashmina are the epitome of royalty. It has a designer appearance and is generally available in a variety of digital prints. This fabric is extremely soft and flattering on almost every skin tone. Adorn these kurta sets with embroidery, prints, or multi-colors for an alluring look!
So, how did it go? Were these kurtas set ideas safe and fashionable? These new designs and49- patterns are very popular these days and are worn by a large number of actors and influencers.

7 Indian Groom Fashion Ideas For Your Wedding Ceremonies
When it comes to weddings, bridal trends capture half of our attention, and there are countless articles and blogs that provide information on the latest trends and styles for the bride. But why should a bride receive all the attention and compliments? The groom's fashion has evolved in tandem with the bridal fashion over the years. Colors, silhouettes, styles, and accessories have all changed, and we're here to help you navigate it all.
Tumblr media
A Guide to Indian Groom Fashion and Traditions
The Indian groom's attire is no longer limited to traditional kurta pajamas or handloom lungi online or a black-tie suit for the reception party. Men nowadays are conscious and aware of current trends. Just as we've seen brides who like to experiment and go for something different, men want to look their best on their wedding day. If you are a groom-to-be, here are some outfit options for your wedding events that you can choose from without wasting time.
1. The Classic Sherwani
Sherwani is a traditional ethnic wear for men that is appropriate for almost any cultural event or festival. It is a knee-length button-down jacket worn over a kurta and paired with a flared trouser, pajama, or dhoti. There are numerous options available, including fabric, silhouette, embellishments, embroideries, and how the sherwani is styled. When you see a groom in a sherwani, you get a royal and elegant vibe.
If you like to experiment, try floral prints or a velvet fabric sherwani, and finish the look with a beautiful shawl or stole. If you do not have a stole or shawl, choose a safa with a long tail.
2. Angrakha Kurta
The angrakha kurta is ideal for the groom who prefers a sophisticated style with a unique element to make their entire look stand out. Angrakha can be worn with a straight A-line, an asymmetrical cut, or a flowy Manarkali style cut. A pair of dhotis looks fantastic with the knee-length Angrakha. You can also pair it with flared or sharara pants.
3. Jodhpuri Suits
Nothing beats Jodhpuri suits when it comes to elegant groomswear. Any man wearing this exudes a chic and royal appearance. It is classified as Indo-western wear because it is influenced by western tailoring techniques and Indian bandhgala jackets. The collars are high, and the suits are not embellished in general, but are rich in fabric and texture, and are paired with tailored fitted trousers. There is a place for pocket squares that reflect the western side, and you can complete your look with accessories such as pocket chains, necklaces, cufflinks, embellished buttons, and so on, and finish with formal shoes or Indian jootis.
4. Draped Asymmetric Kurta
The draped kurta is ideal for grooms who do not want to carry a stole or shawl but want to add a flowy touch to their look. The drape can resemble a pleated fabric hanging from one or both shoulders. The lower side of the kurta with white cotton lungi online has a cowl structure, which gives this kurta a distinct look. You can wear it with Nehru jackets, bandhgala waistcoats, or even long jackets, and for pants, go for fitted trousers.
5. Bandhgala Suit
We've all heard of Bandhgala coats or short button-down kurtas to wear over long kurtas or Manarkalis, but this time we're talking about calf-length Bandhgala suits, which are popular among Indian grooms. You can't possibly go wrong with this suit. When you can't think of anything else to wear, this is your go-to outfit. You can select from a wide range of colors, fabrics, and even prints or embellishments.
Choose a Bandhgala suit in a solid color, pair it with off-white or printed safa, and finish the look with a brooch or a neckpiece.
6. Kurtas
A kurta is yet another traditional outfit for Indian men. This is a no-brainer outfit that requires no styling. A kurta is a fashion statement that will never go out of style. You can wear it with anything and everything and look fantastic! A simple kurta pajama with trousers or a dhoti is a popular yet stylish ethnic wear for men.
A kurta with denim pants is also popular these days, but as a groom, flared trousers or a churidar look best.
A kurta with dhoti pants or patiala salwar looks good, but adding a stole elevates the look.
You can also wear a basic kurta with printed waistcoats, short bandhgalas or angrakhas, or with a shawl.
7. South Indian Dhoti with Silk Shirt
How can we discuss Indian groom fashion without mentioning the South Indian groom style? South Indian wedding fashion differs from that of most other communities, as do their outfits. Their go-to groom attire is a silk white shirt with a white dhoti or lungi. And the simplicity of this attire is what distinguishes it as special and unique, perfectly complementing the traditional South Indian bridal ensemble. Sometimes the groom foregoes the simple shirt in favor of a short kurta or achkan that matches the dhoti or lungi. The key is to style it your way while retaining the essence of traditional attire.
Conclusion
It is not true that grooms have fewer options than brides. Indian fashion, particularly wedding fashion, has evolved over time, and there is no longer a rulebook to follow. Designers are creating fashionable groomswear and accessories for men to select and style for their wedding events. Where designers are making a name for themselves, men are generally concerned with their appearance at weddings. They are just as invested as the bride in looking and feeling good.
We hope this Groom fashion guide assists you in determining your outfit and determining your style for each event at your wedding and capturing all of the attention because, after all, why should girls have all of the fun?

i am here today to talk about HORRIBLE OVERSIGHT in the pete fandom we NEED to correct our ways and see the light
but it is ok i will Explain
ok do u see this
Tumblr media
this is a pha khao ma (spelling up for debate). it's a waistcloth commonly worn in south and southeast asia — you may have heard of it as a lungi / longyi. it's a rectangular, light, soft piece of cloth that (mostly) men tie around their (mostly) waists to wear in hot humid climates because it's very comfy and breezy and dries fast.
some fun facts:
it's very common to wear right out of the bath / shower because the dampness stays on your skin for a while after so this helps air it out
underwear is ✨ optional ✨ (although really mostly only at home. the fear of being pantsed in public is universal, after all)
it's often worn at home, but people wear it out as well and it is especially common in rural communities. if you've got a bunch of old uncles sitting outside on a veranda in a small town, they're all maybe sitting around in pha khao mas
(let me follow this up with: while it is common in rural regions, people in rural areas all over thailand do also just wear shirts and shorts and pants 😂 it is merely an option, not a rule)
what you see is the casual version. there are much more formal versions, and fashionable versions, and they are apparently having a resurgence with the thailand youth rn
the plaid-like patterning is a specific design that has centuries of history in thailand! different regions produce styles of designs with vibrantly different colors and dyes, and they're very proud of it
there's many ways to tie it: in these pictures, pete has it tied so that it hangs down well past his knees, but you can hoist them up to mostly be around your upper legs (leaving the knees showing). this gives you a TON more mobility to, say, run around or climb trees or beat up people
here is a reference of real people wearing pha khao mas. as you can see they are chilling
Tumblr media
and the most important fun fact of all:
post-canon pete wears it ALL. THE. TIME.
we know pete wears these in the privacy of his home! they're his comfy post-shower post-workout jammies! every time we see him with one he has a different one! HE HAS LIKE SIX MORE OF THESE TUCKED AWAY.
he probably wore them a lot around his yaai. and now, at home, vegas sees him in them CONSTANTLY.
you may be looking at me, and then looking at these photos, and then looking again at me, and going, lu, noooooooo, this ruins the post-canon pete being unbearably cute and stylish and hot agenda!!! to which i say
no
it ENHANCES IT. it's about the DICHOTOMY
vegas watches as pete walks out of the bathroom wearing one of these and nothing else, and they're riding real low on his hips, and vegas chokes out a "what the hell are you wearing" and pete leans against the doorframe and wiggles his eyebrows and puts on his thickest northern accent and says "you wanna fuck me so bad city boy" and he's RIGHT OKAY VEGAS HATES THEM AND VEGAS DOES WANT TO FUCK HIM SO BAD ANYWAYS
macau gives pete sooo much shit for it but then he watches pete kick ass in one during training one day and pete looks like some rural film movie star in his tank top and pha khao ma and his fists of fury and macau goes, huh, actually, phi looks fucking cool, can i have one
when they visit yaai pete basically forgoes pants and just wears these all the time and blends in with all the old grandpas who pat pete on the back and ask him for his opinions on politics and vegas is so fucking confused and totally in love do you UNDERSTAND
anyway. all of this to say, if you were to write fics where pete wears a pha khao ma and/or draw him in one it would be HIGHLY CANONICALLY ACCURATE. and i would love you. thank u for coming to my ted talk.
(and thanks to @minorfamilysupremacy for being the first victim of said ted talk)

okay, but
multiethnic aus & aus from different cultures are my FAVORITE.
UT as it is now is only one bundle of myths and one manner of dressage. All that can be transformed! There are similar myths on ither continents and in many, many cultures.
Give me new languages, new clothes;
what if the Underground was under India instead, in East India, where two siblings dodge their villages' Durga puja and discover a gaping hole in the old mandir's ruins?
What if the ruins of the mandir topple in to show them the way, as if Maa Durga Herself decided Monsterkind no longer needed her protections, and opened the way for the sibling's pure hearts? (if you take up this idea i humbly request the boy be named Raam and don't forget the little bell anklets for the little lady ❤️❤️❤️)
Toriel in saree. Bet y'all sacrums that Papyrus ABSOLUTELY would drop us ALL DEAD by carrying Bharatanatyam styles with so much energy!! Undyne would look so FIERCE, not integrating martial arts would be criminal. I would feel compelled to give her Maa Durga iconography. All of Sans' attire are prestitched...yes, even the lungi. Even the lungi is prestitched. Alphys is trying her best but the pallu is always wrinkly and uneven, so the kids help her out with dailywear tricks they've watched their Dida do hundreds of times.
Or Pacific Islander. Dead volcanos leave bubbles deep inside the earth. The beating of the sea above creates white noise.
Or a pit drops out from beneath a hilltop fort in the Welsh dells. The people still speak in the old way and look frightened when you speak of the Romans and Human Tribes both, but they don't know if the Romans ever came. Go back further if you like, way further, to when the petrified trees in the Irish Sea were tall and green!
...Or use a totally different mythic inspiration!
A treasure-hunter seeks the jewels of an ancient king, said to have cleansed the land of evils and made a fortune on the way, which he had hidden to remove the demon of temptation from the good people. Except, his treasurehide was the Underground -- and if he tries to remove even a single "piece," the entry collapses. He'll need all his wits and purity of heart.
Tales of the local Folk Catholics turn out to be... not all that wrong. There IS a Hell-portal out there. And, if they didn't put it there, someone else sure did. Even worse... there's real people down there; ...and the last thing either party remembers is the destruction of Asriel and Chara. Niche Folk tales can come forward and sensationalized tropes can step backwards.
Or, something far removed from myth entirely -- magical peoples condemned in a world that will no longer understand them.
A subterranean geologist visits a friend and notices a landmark on a map that isn't there now. They know that, because they're visiting the region for work soon. There's the decision to rappel in and see what was so noteworthy...but what they both didn't anticipate was wicked magic. The Barrier snaps a perfectly good, new repel line like butter once they're inside its maw. Inside, a humble people are being devastated by earthquakes and their civil engineers need a hand. They can only see a limited perspective of the region. But, now it's political -- an adult problem for an adult specialist.
They're alternate universes.
Let's make them OURS. I feel like that's something Toby would want, comparing Undertale and Deltarune.
(yes i have had a burst of questionable sanity and i will be writing most of these now thank you)

RATING NANDAMURI TARAKA RAMA RAO JR’S MANSPREADS ON A SCALE OF 1 - 10
I am FLAILING, this is positively OPULENT!!!! I love the chaotic styling, THE LUNGI (even though its glory is disrupted by those damn cargo shorts), the fuckboy lean, the hand on hip, and that tiny, snotty little SMIRK!!!! The level of sass and attitude here is truly, genuinely inspiring! I adore.
Those cargo shorts really confuse me, because I hate them as a styling choice, but I’m kind of obsessed with them as a manspread accessory?! That naughty little PEEK we get at his bare thigh, the scandalous LOOSENESS of the fabric, taunting a closer look inside, per chance to see…. EVERYTHING??!! To see IT ALL??!!!!!! I am clutching my pearls!!
Okay, enough about the outfit. Let’s break down the spread itself. Modest width, exceptional pomp, great hand placement, perfect facial expression, A BOON of douchey accessories, and recognizably lewd intent. Well posed, very well posed indeed! If I could see more crotch, this would be God Tier! But, I always deduct points for lack of breadth.
FINAL VERDICT: 8/10

ZERO INTERVIEWS, MINIMAL PRESS EVENTS: Shah Rukh Khan would follow the 'Pathaan model' for Jawan.
Jawan, the much-anticipated film, will be released exactly one month from now, and the anticipation is palpable. The anticipation had been building since the announcement, and it grew significantly after the teaser was posted. Last week, the song 'Zinda Banda' was released. Bollywood Hungama was the first to report the true name of this massively scaled music. The trailer and a few more songs will be released soon before the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer hits theatres on September 7.
Tumblr media
According to Bollywood Hungama, SRK would be visible only briefly during the film's promotion. According to a source, "Shah Rukh Khan didn't give any interviews at all before the release of his last film, Pathaan (2023). Yet, it was an all-time blockbuster. He wants to continue with this strategy for Jawan and is confident that even without interviews, the audiences will be pulled into the cinemas."
The source also added, "A few events are planned but it will be without Q-and-A sessions, as is the norm nowadays. However, Shah Rukh Khan is expected to rock the show with his funny and thought-provoking quotes. Also, fans need not worry as he'll keep conducting the 'Ask SRK' sessions on Twitter from time to time. It’s a super-hit strategy. Shah Rukh himself loves going through fan questions and replying in his trademark witty style. Fans, too, go gaga over his replies."
The source signed off by saying, "Ultimately, the content of Jawan is very enticing. As a result, the team believes that these minimal promotional strategies will work big time."
Jawan also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, and Ridhi Dogra in addition to Shah Rukh Khan. Deepika Padukone makes a cameo appearance in this action comedy directed by Atlee.

How does the way your character present themselves in public differ from how they are in private?
((That depends very much on what kind of 'public' he's going to be in, and what kind of 'private' he's going to be in. If he thinks he's going to be completely alone, he might not even get dressed. If he thinks that anyone might see him, the most dressed down he will allow himself to be when not 'undercover' is slacks or a lungi, and some kind of long sleeved shirt. He doesn't like to show skin in 'inappropriate' situations, not even his arms. (At the pool, gym, or beach is fine)
When he plans on being out in public, he always looks nice.(again, if not 'undercover') He tends to mix and match Western and Indian styles: a sleeveless nehru jacket over a western button up shirt, with churidar pants. A barabandi or jama over skinny jeans.
If he's out in public as the Riddler, he goes all out. Full three piece Western suit and tie, or an extremely fancy, assymetric indowestern sherwani, complete with dupatta sash and dhuk dhuki double pin brooch. He wears a gambler hat and kilangi with either kind of suit.
With everything, he prefers jutti shoes, with the curled tip folded back and pinned down.))

Femininity and masculinity themselves are so made up it’s laughable. Nothing is inherently feminine/masculine, it just becomes so when a woman/man does it.
The housewife making dinner is feminine, Gordon Ramsay is masculine.
Skirts are feminine. Kilts and lungis are masculine.
In the western world, makeup is feminine. Pashtuns and other south Asian men wear kohl, and it’s masculine.
I’m a gnc/masculine lesbian, but honestly, I use that label of nonconformity to describe how I’m treated in the world as abnormal, and not as a neutral descriptor of my personal sense of style.
