Luna sat beside her daughter on the bed, watching as Ella's eyes widened with emotion. She could see the pain and confusion in her daughter's eyes, feeling as if was Luna’s own fault that Ella was feeling lost, confused and scared.

"Mmh, mmh," Luna whispered softly, trying to find the right words to comfort her daughter. "My little love Ella, I see your eyes widen like an ocean when you look at me so full of emotions. I know you feel lost, and it's my fault completely. But I promise I'll do everything in my power to make things right again, my little love."

Ella glanced up at her mother, tears brimming in her eyes as she listened to her mothers words. She knew that her mother loved her deeply, and that together, they would find a way to overcome any obstacles that stood in their way. With a small nod, Ella leaned into Luna's embrace, feeling reassured by the unspoken promise of love and support that her mother offered.

Tell me you love me - I love you a million percent

Flashback: Luna smiled as she watched her 3-year-old daughter, Ella, playing with her toys on the living room floor. Luna couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the love she felt for her little girl. Luna looked at Ella who was staring back at her mother, "Tell me you love me, Ella."

Ella giggled, getting up and walking up to her mother. Ella’s eyes shining with innocence and joy as she replied, "I love you, Mama. I love you a million percent!"

Tears gathered up in Luna's eyes as she pulled Ella into a tight embrace, feeling a rush of warmth and happiness in her heart. Luna knew that she would do whatever it takes to protect her little girl, and since the day Ella was born Luna gave Ella all the love she has to offer.

Luna sat at the kitchen table, her hands trembling with Nico beside her, the stars and mood streaming through the curtains. Luna feels a deep sense of emptiness and despair, unable to recognize the person she had become in the cold light of day. As tears welled up in her eyes, Luna knew that she couldn't hide from the truth anymore.

"I don't recognize myself in the coldness of the daylight," Luna whispered softly, towards Nico, not really caring if he was listening or not, but its Nico, of course he listens to his wife vent, also noticing Luna’s usually soft voice filled with shame and regret. "So I ain't surprised you can read through all of my lies”

Oi, I feel like you don't love me - Why do you feel like that? - Do you like-like me? - You know, mommy doesn't like anyone else like I like you, right?

Luna and her now 8 year old baby girl are sitting in the car enjoying some ice cream when Ella, out of the blue, says, “Mama, I feel like you don’t love me.” Luna’s eyes immediately snap to look at her daughter, Luna knows that her and Nico taught their daughter to always talk about her feelings, but she never thought that would ever come from her daughter’s mouth. “Why do you feel like, meine Welt?” Luna asked her baby girl, wanting to know what she did to make her daughter say this. Before Ella could respond, Luna added, “You know, mommy doesn't like anyone else like I like you, right?” Ella nodded and climbed over the center console to hug her mother.

Flashback 2: Luna sat in the rocking chair in the pink and yellow room, her baby nestled in her arms, softly cooing as she tried to soothe her to sleep. Luna has been feeling the weight of motherhood bearing down on her, the responsibility and endless list of unknowns threatening to overwhelm her at every turn. Despite her best efforts, and her husband, family and friends, she still felt like she was barely holding on.

"Mama's got a lot to learn," Luna whispered to her sleeping daughter, her voice heavy with uncertainty and doubt. She knew that she had to be strong for Ella, but she also knew that she had so much to figure out along the way as younger and new mother. As she gently rocked her back and forth, Luna found solace in the simple act of being there for Ella, even though she felt like she was fumbling in the dark.

Mummy's been having a lot of big feelings recently - (Like how?) - Just, like, hang on lemme-, my fingers are trapped - Like, um, I feel a bit confused- (Why?) - I don't know - And I feel like I don't really know what I'm doing - (Oh, at all?) - At all - (And that would make me go)

Luna sat down next to Ella on the backyard grass, a troubled expression on her face. She took a deep breath and tried to find the words to explain her feelings to her 9-year-old daughter.

"Mama’s been having a lot of big feelings recently," Luna began, her voice wavering with uncertainty.

"Like how?” Ella asked, looking up at her mother with confusion in her eyes.

"Just, like, hang on lemme-, " Luna struggled to breathe and articulate her emotions, feeling like she was trapped in her own thoughts.

"Like, um, I feel a bit confused," Luna continued, trying to put her feelings into words.

"Why?" Little Ella, still confused, questioned, tilting her head in towards her mother.

"I don't know," Luna admitted, feeling a sense of relief in sharing her vulnerability with her daughter.

"And I feel like I don't really know what I'm doing," Luna confessed, feeling the weight of her uncertainty pressing down on her.

"Oh, at all?" Ella responded, her young voice filled with innocence and seemingly trying to understand her mothers emotions.

"At all," Luna confirmed, a hint of sadness lacing her words.

"And that would make me go," Ella said, jumping up and into her mother’s arms, hugging her tightly as possible, feeling as if thats what her mother needed, which Luna did.

With Nico gone to get both his and Luna’s family, Luna sat still on the hospital bed, cradling her newborn daughter, Ella, in her arms. The room was filled with the soft sound of Ella's gentle breathing, a peaceful melody that contrasted with Luna's tumultuous emotions.

"My little love," Luna whispered, calling her the little nickname she had given Ella when she was in the womb.

Ella stirred in Luna's arms, and Luna took a deep breath before continuing, "Tell me, do you feel the way my past aches?" Luna's heart ached as she thought about the struggles and hardships she had faced in her own life, from retiring young from soccer because of an injury to her first boyfriend, who sucked, Luna couldn't help but wonder if those burdens would somehow be passed down to her daughter.

"When you lay on me, can you hear the way my heart breaks?" Luna whispered, feeling the weight of her worries pressing down on her.

"I wanted you to have everything I never had," Luna said, her voice tinged with sorrow. She wanted nothing more than for Ella to have a better life, to be free from the pain and hardships that Luna had experienced herself growing up.

"I'm so sorry if what I've done makes you feel sad," Luna apologized, tears welling up in her eyes. Luna knew that she wasn't perfect, no one is in fact, she had made mistakes in the past, and she feared that those mistakes would impact her daughter in ways she couldn't control.

Luna sat down with her daughter Ella, up in the box, as both of them watch Ella’s Daddy and Uncles practice, a gentle smile on Lunas face as she look at the love in her daughters eyes. Luna looked toward the rink catching her older brother Jack talking and pointing towards them with Luke. “Mama, do you love Papa?” upon hearing this Luna’s widened and shocked eyes looked down at her daughter, who wasn’t even looking at her mother but her uncles.

“My little love…” Luna gently grabbed her daughters chin to make her look up at her, “I love your dad 'cause he gave you to me," Luna said softly, her voice filled with gratitude and love as she brushed a piece of her daughters hair behind her ear. "You're half me and you're half daddy," she continued, looking into Ella's eyes with a mix of joy and tenderness. "Oh," Ella whispered, Luna feels a deep sense of appreciation for the man who had helped create their precious daughter. She knew that together, they had given Ella the gift of love and life, and Luna vowed to always cherish and honor the bond they shared as a family.

I'm having a bad day, I'm having a very anxious day - I feel very paranoid, I feel very stressed - um,I have a hangover, which never helps, but I feel like today is the first day since I left her that I feel lonely - And I never feel lonely, I love being on my own - I always preferred being on my own than being with people - And I feel like maybe I've been, like, overcompensating - Being out and stuff like that to keep my mind off of her - And I feel like today I'm home, and I wanna be at home - I just wanna watch TV and curl up in a ball and - Be in my sweats and stuff like that, I just feel really lonely - I feel a bit frightened that I might feel like this a lot

After their game, with everyone gone, Quinn sits in the Canucks locker room. After changing, he grabs his phone and notices a few miss calls from his only and baby sister and one voicemail. Knowing his sister had recently went on her first tour since having his nieceQuinn instantly plays the voicemail, upon hearing his sister shaking voice, he worries.

"Hey Quinny, it's Luna. I...I'm having a bad day, a very anxious day. I feel very paranoid, very stressed. I have a hangover, which never helps, but...today is the first day since I left her that I feel lonely. I never feel lonely - I love being on my own, always preferred it to being with people. I feel like maybe I've been overcompensating, being out and keeping busy to avoid thinking about them. And Today, I just want to be at home, watch TV, curl up in a ball in my sweats. I feel really lonely...and a bit frightened that I might feel like this a lot. Just needed to talk to you. I miss you, Quinny. Take care." Luna's voice trembled as she left the heartfelt voicemail for her older brother, seeking comfort and understanding in her time of need.

authors note: I was in a soft mood tonight and picked a prompt that let me write for a player of my choice (so let’s thank Luna for this one). Dad Nico is not a phase, it is a way of life.

You could feel Nico slipping away.

Days felt longer as the time you spent with him decreased. The captain spent every waking moment that he could at the rink. A habit he had each time he came back from an injury and usually you were willing to stand by and let him go through this.

But this time you couldn’t, not when Rosie was around. She was your little seven month old baby girl who was the absolute light of your life.

Now Nico was a great father, you loved how he was with Rosie. But these last few days it felt like he didn’t care about either of you as he’d leave before you woke up and he’d only come back when you were too tired to keep your eyes open.

Jack had been over twice since it all started as he wanted to make sure that you were both okay. The Hughes boy could tell that his captain had something on his mind beyond just the game and family.

You decided to spend the day in New York with some of your friends as the girls hadn’t seen you or Rosie in weeks. Of course you sent Nico a message telling him that you two weren’t going to be at home for most of the day but what you didn’t expect was that when you eventually did come home Nico would be pacing around the apartment in a panic.

He walked up and down with his phone in his hand as he rambled to his mother about something in German. When he locked eyes with you it seemed that relief ran through his veins “she’s home.” Nico blurted out before he quickly hung up.

Rosie giggled as you bounced her on your hip “where the hell were you both?” Nico groaned as he practically pulled her from your arms.

You furrowed your eyebrows “I literally told you we were out-” you tried to remind him of it but he clearly didn’t seem interested in hearing your words “you took our daughter to New York for the day and didn’t even ask me if I was okay with that!” The hockey players loud voice caused Rosie’s lip to quiver.

It made you glare at your boyfriend “look it is sort of hard to treat you like her father when she hasn’t seen you in a week.” Your voice was soft as you tried to get Rosie to calm down “I’ve been busy with the team.” Nico tried to defend himself hit you weren’t having any of it “the same team that has been over to see your daughter?” You crossed your arms only opening them when Rosie reached out for you to take her again.

The silence began to overwhelm you as Nico looked like a child who had been caught in the act “I’m going to go give her a bath.” You announced letting out a sigh as you walked in the direction of the bedrooms before Nico could say anything.

Rosie seemed totally unaware of your defeated state as she focused on her rubber ducky “da!” She giggled looking up at the door. You turned your head to see Nico watching you both “want to sit?” You asked shifting up slightly as you made space for him.

Nico nodded as he joined you on the floor smiling as Rosie stared at him with her hair full of shampoo “mein kleiner Kürbis.” The hockey player cooed reaching out to tap her nose.

She looked at her father was the only man in the world as she made a small noise in response as her nose scrunched “why don’t you go relax schatzi?” Nico asked turning his attention to you.

The look on his face was guilty as though he realised how little he had seen of you both “I think mommy deserves time without us.” The grin Rosie sent him was one you’d remember forever as it warmed your heart “mommy is going to go have a bath of her own.” You explained bringing your hands into the water to wash away the soap that was on them “I’ll see you in there.” You pressed a kiss onto Nico’s head as you got up leaving them alone as all you heard was the sound of Nico telling her some story in German.

In the bathroom of your bedroom the chaos of the smaller bathroom had not seeped into yours. You lay in the bubbles almost falling asleep as the smell of lavender and rose soothed your mind.

“Schatzi?”

The knock at the door pulled your attention away from the oasis of peace that you had formed “come in,” you called out turning your head to the door.

Nico’s head appeared as he locked eyes with you “I just put her to sleep.” He explained sitting down in a similar position to what he was in when he bathed Rosie.

You nodded “I’ve been shitty to you both.” Nico blurted out making you smile “that’s one way to put it.” You giggled as the boy brought his hand into the water to splash you.

It made his heart warm “we have to win the game and Rosie started calling Jack dad before me an-” you raised your hand to stop him “she called Jack dad?” You furrowed your eyebrows almost wanting to be amused by this.

The hockey player nodded “she called him da,” it made his cheeks turn red as he was embarrassed by the fact that his teammate got called dad before he did.

But it made him feel worse when you laughed “hand me my phone,” you pointed to the device on the table. You were quick to unlock it clicking on a video.

The soft sounds of ABBA played through your speakers as you bounced Rosie on your lap letting both of you move along to the music “you like ABBA baby?” You smiled as she nodded “da da,” Rosie wrapped her hands around your fingers as she frowned hearing the music change to something that Nico had picked.

You laughed seeing her expression change “less daddy music more ABBA?” You asked as she nodded making you skip the song.

Nico watched the clip twice over before he looked back up at you “well now that makes me feel like a real idiot.” He confessed pushing his lips into a fine line “yeah.” You nodded placing your phone back on the table as you looked at him.

He reached out to tuck a loose strand of hair behind your ear “I don’t know why you put up with so much from me.” The hockey player sighed frowning as you looked at him with so much love “because I love you.” It was clear that you did “Rosie does, Boo will.” The second mention confused the boy.

You smiled as you scrunched your nose “surprise?” You shrugged as he quickly point the pieces together “we’re having another?” Nico gasped letting his jaw drop “Rosie picked the name and we were gonna tell you-” your ramble was cut off as Nico kissed you.

It was soft and full of love “I’m so sorry you couldn’t tell me earlier.” Your hand held his “you’re here now.” You squeezed his fingers as you looked at him.

The moment was one you two were bound to remember “baby I need you out of there so I can hug you.” Nico’s words made you laugh “last time I checked this bath was big enough for the two of us.” You shot back watching as he pulled his shirt off of his back.

All you wanted this entire week was the contact that your boyfriend gave you. Rosie needed her father but so did you. Pregnant or not, you missed your boyfriend and we’re glad to have him back.

“I’m here baby, just how you want me.”

The basics!

Grace Luna Facciola was born on April 19, 2000 in Vancouver, British Columbia. She grew up in North Vancouver before her family moved to LA when she was 13.

Her mother, Ingrid, is of Norwegian descent and her father, Marciano, is of Italian descent 

Marciano is on the board of directors of Columbia Records. Ingrid works in a lab doing research at University of British Columbia. They are divorced, and Ingrid married Grace’s step-father David in 2019. David works as a landscaper.

She has one older brother, Chase Roman, who lives in Colorado with his fiance Kaylin. He’s an accountant. Grace is decently close with him, or as close as they can be with living in different states. He is three years older than her.

Attended the University of Southern California for two years (2018-2020) before deciding to leave and pursue her songwriting / producing career full time

Has written with notable artists including Harry Styles, Sabrina Carpenter, 5 Seconds of Summer, Gracie Abrams, Lizzy McAlpine, Holly Humberstone, Renee Rapp, Jeremy Zucker

Her most notable achievement (as of 2025) is that she was a co-writer on “Love of My Life” by Harry Styles on the album Harry’s House, which went on to win a Grammy Award for Album Of The Year.

Meets Luke Hughes when he comes up to her in a bar in New York where she was performing at an open mic night in February 2025.

Through Luke and Jack, she meets Quinn Hughes in March 2025 after the Devils play the Canucks at the Prudential Center.

Random fun tidbits!

Grace gets compared to her friend Renee Rapp a lot in terms of her vocal ability. It’s a common sentiment throughout the music industry that Grace has one of the best voices in the game. She just thrives more behind a pen and paper or in the studio. But any note she sings is always worth stopping and listening to.

Can hold her alcohol scarily well. The only person who has ever come close to beating her is Nico, and that was one of the worst hangovers he ever had. 

She knows how to play a lot of instruments — if Grace sees a guitar she will at least strum it a few times no matter what — but her favorite is the piano with its elegance and its simplicity. Most of the songs she writes start out on the piano.

34. How much of yourself and your life experiences do you put into your writing? What do you think your readers’ image of you is?

There is very little of myself or my experiences in my fic, but a whole lot of my power fantasies? Like, specifically, I enjoy writing about people who are so hot that they're irresistible and everyone wants them, because that's very much not me but it's an appealing thought. The one time I wrote a fic that was too much like IRL me it made me super uncomfortable and I had to change the sex scene to make it less like that 😂 (It was a ffxv Noct/Luna fic that was just married morning sex fluff.)

Anyway I have no idea what my fic makes people think about me as a person but probably not that I'm a middle aged mom of two lol

i was wondering how did luna and nico meet? and how did lunas friend and family react to them dating? like i feel like quinn, ellen, jim, cole and ethan would be okay with them but everyone else would be upset

so i only did Luna’s family. Sorry for how long they are 😭 Enjoy!!

So in my ‘Meet Luna Hughes’ i mentioned that Luna has had a crush on Nico since he was drafted to the NHL. Being in a hockey based family, the Hughes family have watched every NHL drafts, rooting for their friends. When the 2017 Draft was happening Luna was sitting with her family. The first time the camera showed Nico, Luna fell in love. Quinn was the first and only one to notice, he also never said anything for years (which is important.) When Luna and Nico started dating Luna was 19 and Nico Was 23. They kept secret but with Quinn being Luna’s best friend, he was the first person she told and made him pinky swear to NOT tell anyone, especially Jack and Luke.

In order of who she told/who found out:

Quinn’s Reaction: He’s a little shocked but not surprised. He’d let Luna know that he knew about her long time crush on Nico (not knowing that he was also exposing Luna for that.) He would be the biggest supporter of their relationship. Oh and also since he is Luna’s older older o̲l̲d̲e̲r̲ brother, he gave Nico the big brother talk.

Ellen’s Reaction: Oh she was so happy for Luna and Nico. Literally welcomed Nico into the family with open arms. Always inviting him over to spend time with Her, Luna and Jim (eventually the whole family when Jack and Luke found out)

Jim’s Reaction: Went major over protective dad mode. With Luna being the youngest and only daughter, Jim values their relationship so much that he swore to protect her the day she was born. He gave the over protective dad talk, making sure Nico knew that if he breaks Luna’s heart he will kill him.

Luke’s Reaction: (after Luna and Nico have been dating a while) Oh poor Lukey, he accidentally caught Luna and Nico holding each other and talking in a slightly dark corridor. He was shoked, mad, confused and worried. He literally walked away, didn’t tell Luna nor Nico he was there (didn’t tell Jack…. yet.) The Devils went on to play and unfortunately they lost. When back in the locker room Nico, Jack and Luke were the last three in there, Nico was talking to Jack when Luke had had enough. He walked up to Nico (his Captain mind you) and said to him “Maybe if you weren’t so enamored with my twin, we would’ve won.” Jack instantly looked at Nico who was as red as a tomato. Oh and when he found out that Quinn knew before him he was livid, literally pulling the “I'm your twin” to Luna.

Jack’s Reaction: Jack was trying to process what Luke had just said. His captain Nico Hischier, than man he has know for 4 years, is dating his baby sister. Jack looked at Nico and then stormed out of the locker room and started looking for Luna. When he found her, she was talking to Alexander, Curtis and Timo, Jack didn’t care tho. He walked up to Luna and asked if Luke was telling the truth, obviously Luna was confused and Jack blurted out “are you dating my captain or not?” Luna was embarrassed with everyone looking at her so she dragged Jack into a nearby room and told him the truth. Jack was obviously upset and left Luna by herself and, being the stubborn guy that he is, ignored both Luna and Nico for three months (Unlike Luke who ignored them for 4 weeks.) After a stern talking to by Ellen and Jim, and even Quinn, he eventually became Lucos (he literally came up with the name) biggest fan and supporter.

Nina’s Reaction: Being Nico’s older sister she was a little overprotective but when Nico introduced Luna to the Hischier Family (unlike the Hughes family they all found out at the same time) Nina’s overprotectiveness of Nico switched to Luna. With both Luna and Nina being the only daughter of their respective families, they became the best of friends. Nina pulled Nico aside after a dinner and gave him her big sister talk saying “If you break her heart, cheat on her, abuse her or do anything to her i will end you.” Luna overheard this and tried so hard not to laugh at this, because she had just met Nina and she already loves Luna. Nico was nervous after that talk, so anytime Nico and Luna fought he would be the first to apologize (with Luna following after.) Nina is the first person Nico goes to for help for a gift or a birthday party or an anniversary thing. Nina’s also is the first person Luna goes to for anything (SORT OF SPOILER: even when Luna was freaking out about missing her period, Nina was there to help her with taking the test and calming Luna’s anxiety when it was positive)
