Baby Shower Open RP:

It was the day of the shower, and Luna was determined to enjoy it, despite the nagging feeling that these babies of hers could arrive at any moment. She managed to get herself ready, slipping into a long, flowy navy blue dress that draped over her belly. Her long black hair was styled half-up half-down, complimented by a soft makeup look, which was a stark contrast to the dark eyeliner she usually wore.

Stepping out of the bedroom, Luna took in the sight of her beautifully decorated home, all thanks to Story. The living room was filled with light blues and silvers, streamers and balloons littered the walls in the most perfect way—it was exactly what she had envisioned. The table was set with a blue tablecloth, matching napkins and sparkling silverware. The cake sat at the centre, almost too beautiful to eat. Everything was set, and all that remained was for the guests to arrive.

The Horde King series is basically humans are dropped onto a planet 🚀 and are given a series of rules that make it difficult for them to survive. Some horny Horde kings can't help but pick out a human mate for themselves. I read 5 out of 6 of these books this month. This one in particular (the 2nd book), is the best. It's an emotional rollercoaster that takes you for a fun ride. The dick engineering in these books took a level of ingenuity I can't help but admire.

The Spirit Bares It's Teeth by Andrew Joseph White (4🌟)

It's about a trans character trying to escape his fate in London 1883. The mc, Silas, has special abilities and uses them to scrape his way past the hurdles life has thrown at him. This book is fast-paced and keeps your attention. It's essentially a horror story accompanied by gore. 🩸🗡️

Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert (4🌟)

This is a short (135 pages) story about a woman who comes from a werewolf hunting family who meets a werewolf who is obsessed with her. This was fun. One of the best uses of miscommunication I've seen in a romance story. 💝

Mari's Mistake by Ruby Dixon (4🌟)

This is the 10th book in the Ice Home series 👀. I felt like Ruby went back to everything I loved about the og series. It wasn't a long book, it was fast paced (never boring), it still had plenty of the elements I've come to love from her big blue alien men, but it was different enough to be its own thing. I felt like this book is one of the stronger stories from Ice Home. ❄️💙

Broken by the Horde King by Zoey Draven

This was the 4th book in the Horde King series. I did not like the 3rd book 🙈, so this book was a serenade that drew me back into it. The premise was the Horde King (Kiran) and the fmc (Maeva) were childhood friends. Maeva fell in love with Kiran, and he rejected her. 🚫But here's the kicker. Here's the thing, as the story progresses his rejection of Maeva makes less and less sense. I enjoyed the groveling, but the premise of this book was built on shaky foundations.

Ah, the first Horny Horde King 😈. It was a good time. Not the best of times, but good times none the less.

Fire in His Blood by Ruby Dixon (3🌟)

I love Ruby Dixon. Big Brained Dixon with her buff blue 4-armed aliens, and now her buff gold dragons with dicks that shoot fire. I just bought 400 pages of minotaur smut from this fucking queen 👑. Stunning packaging. But yeah. It's the end of times on Earth and aliens who shift into dragons descended from the sky. Can we fuck them? Yes, we can. 🫡

Alpha's Burden by Luna Lark (3🌟)

This was very similar to Cate C. Wells, Tyrant Alpha's Rejected Mate. This book could have stood out by playing more into the idea of enemies to lovers, but the fmc folded faster than an origamist. I would have loved to see some extensive groveling on the mc's part, but towards the end, it was boring for me. I struggled to finish this. 🥲

Light's Out by Navessa Allen (3🌟)

The first half of this book is worth it—it's so charming and funny! But the second half wasn't for me. ⛔ I would have loved it if the will they won't they portion was dragged out more.

Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross (2🌟)

I felt betrayed 😭. This book started off as a character driven romance, and bc that's what I thought this was, I didn't mind the shoddy world building or how much I didn't care about the plot outside these 2 characters. But then. Tragedy. The author switched gears and suddenly the characters were specifically doing things that made no sense to advance the plot I did not care about. I can't get into when these changes began and how it ruined the fmc's character without getting into spoilers.

This was the 3rd book in the series, and I did not like it very much. It's basically this tropey guy who is like so CRAZY BRO. But he's not really. And his witchy gf who saves the day. Pass. Hard pass.

Alpha & Omega by Patricia Briggs (1🌟)

If you look up wolf shifter books Patricia Briggs comes up everywhere, so I wanted to check out her book, Cry Wolf. Ok. So, I go to the goodreads reviews and find out there's this prologue for Cry Wolf called Alpha & Omega, and if you don't read it then nothing makes sense. I read this and it convinced me to not even bother with Cry Wolf. This fucking thing was everywhere and nowhere all at once. I can't even think of a redeeming quality. I guess the best thing about it was it was only 81 pages.

I meant to post this 2/1 but I started reading Normal People by Sally Rooney and that was my day. Then 2/2 I was reading The Witchwood Knot by Olivia Atwater. But I found some time this morning. 😄

idk if it'll be another month of mostly paranormal romances or if I'll start reading some of my other books. Either way ik I'll be having a great time reading 👌

I know I've talked about this with Luna before but well. Her views on both mortals and immortals as a whole aren't exactly... healthy. At this point in time she's grown to resent both for different reasons, believing that the potential for bad outweighs that for good and that it's better for everyone if she isolates and only interacts with her own family unless given a reason to otherwise.

Obviously misanthropy isn't exactly an ideal worldview to have, but ultimately it's one that likely isn't going anywhere anytime soon for Luna, despite the complications that come with her simultaneously loving her country's traditional culture and wishing to preserve it and it's past, specifically so it's worst moments aren't repeated.

4. Does your muse deserve a second chance?

Going with Draven for this because well. It's a bit of an in-story debate. Without going into detail, he's hurt a lot of innocents through his scientific research, both during and outside of wartime, searching for 'personal' answers. And it happened enough for those around him, including his own siblings, to doubt who the real 'him' was and if it was that unethical 'monster', if he was capable of changing.

But ultimately, Draven truly does feel guilty for his past actions, wishes he could take it all back. And he really has changed, even if others find it hard to believe after everything. So yeah, he does deserve a second chance, and he's doing a good job with what he's gotten so far.

It's simple really. The objective for the weekend is to have fun, but no one knows James' brand of fun. Not yet anyway. As soon as everyone has their gear set up, their tents pitched, and everything, he calls them over into a group.

"So, is everyone ready?" Everyone looks at him like he's grown a second head. "Hand over your phones." He says and everyone complies. "We're off grid, which means I don't want you distracted by a text or phone call."

"Rule number one." James starts off. "No magic, bombs, or devices. We're doing this old school." He tells everyone as they look at each other in confusion. "You have to use your wits to find your way back to camp, you get to use a map. Thats it."

"Rule number two." He looks around the forest that they had to hike into at seven am. "You have from the time I say go until tomorrow as sundown to get back to camp. Until then, you partner up or whatever to survive."

"Rule number three." This is where he smirks. "I find you, you have to try and get away or I drag you back to camp. You'll be out. Game over."

"Rule number four." He holds up a duffle bag. "This will be out there somewhere for you to find. You find it, you get to use what is in it to make it through this crazy ride."

"And Rule Five." He smiles. "Have some fun playing in the woods."

"Any questions?" Everyone stares at him with blank faces. "Good... get moving."

She's been wanting to spruce up the house with more living things, and honestly, he likes plants too. Actually, he does want to surprise her with a garden in the backyard. A place where she can grow her herbs for spells and healing.

He has it in his head to build her a greenhouse eventually, but for now, he has a better plan. James moves to the couch, picking up her legs by the ankles and sitting down before putting her feet in his lap. He begins to massage her bare feet as she moves the magazine to look at him with a raised eyebrow.

Location: In a random gas station outside of NYC, 8:10pm EST

Evelyn had caught wind that there was a group of HYDRA operatives roaming New York City, and she had gone out to investigate. Despite her friend's warnings to not interact with HYDRA again, she had to do this. She couldn't stop until HYDRA was gone. She walked through the rain-soaked parking lot of the gas station, waiting to find you waiting for her. She had called you a couple hours earlier, telling her to meet you here. As she trudged through the puddles, she couldn't stop thinking about HYDRA. Why were they back? She'd never get the answer to that. She entered the gas station, brushing off her boots and letting her out of the tight high ponytail she had it in. Her brown locks falling over her shoulders. She pulls the teal strands of her hair to the front, and walks into the station. She saw you in the corner and walked over to you. She tapped a button on her bracelet, and her black and teal nanotech suit went back inside, revealing a baggy hoodie and leggings. "Thanks for not being late." You were walking down the sidewalk of a busy intersection, when you heard gunshots and people screaming. You turn around and see a criminal gang running through the street, shoving people aside. They were the Night Terrors, one of the most dangerous and feared gangs in New York City.

Then out of nowhere a blur of black and dark blue attacked the Night Terrors. It was ArchnaFeline, yet another web slinging vigilante. She fought the Night Terrors, you notice that she wasn’t the best fighter and could use some training.

ArchnaFeline had managed to web up a majority of the members, but then another member shot her in the stomach, the bullet went through her. She webbed up that member and then left when the police came. You decided to follow her. You follow ArchnaFeline to an alleyway. 

She pulls down her hood and takes her mask off and to your surprise it was January?! You accidentally blow your cover, January immediately puts her mask back on and pulls her hood up. “Who’s there? Show yourself!” She says, while clutching her stomach.

Location: Forest, North New Jersey Time: 18:30 EST Mission Objective: Take down the anti-SHIELD operatives that lurk around the forest in the least time possible. These operatives have been attempting to blow up SHIELD bases and have foiled SHIELD's missions multiple times. Mika and you have been tasked to take them down.

You and Mika had been in the forest for just under half an hour. The forest was thick, and you both decided that if you split up to find the base it would be better. So you did, and you went northeast, and she went northwest. The signatures had told you the base was somewhere in the north, so you both moved in that general direction. She had her bow slung over her back, and a couple guns in her holster. She was clad in a ash-brown top, with brown camouflage tactical gear covering most of it. She wore dark brown pants that had many pockets, all of them containing knives and things of that nature. As she ventured through the forest, she noticed a thick fog settling around the trees. She turned around to view all of her surroundings. It was getting darker. You both had to move quickly. She tapped her communication device in her ear, trying to communicate with you. She stepped over a log, making no noise as she did so. "Albatross speaking. Do you copy?"

Ava had always been dealing with her phasing problems. She knew it hurt, and she was used to it. But when Janet Van Dyne had stabilized her atoms, she had not had as big of a pain for that anymore. But now, after many years, it was beginning to hurt again. As she walked, she phased with each step, her body seeming to glitch. It was scary and unnerving for anyone who saw, as she refused to talk about her pain anymore. She turned down help, and wouldn't talk to anyone who was persistent about it It had become even more painful over the past few weeks. You noticed her wincing when she stood still, after she phased. But that was once. After that one time, every time she flickered, she seemed unfazed. She was getting used to it again. That worried you. Even though Ava was an untrusting and closed off person, she still spoke. But now, her speech was minimal, and when she spoke it was short one word answers. You caught her sitting on the couch, her body phasing in and out of the states. She was still visible, and was a solid figure. But she needed quantum energy, but wouldn't communicate that to anyone. You noticed she was also wearing her suit, hood down. She never wore her suit anymore, because she was supposedly "quantum stable". She was silently crying, her face in her hands.
