i need to kiss his forehead, smooth out his furrowed brows, tell him it's gonna be ok, play with his hair, caress his face, wipe his tears away, tuck him into bed, have him take a nice warm shower, use face masks on him, make hermes pay, take him to therapy, make him lunches, enroll him into college with me, bandage his wounds, compliment his arms, reassure him his scar isn't ugly, introduce him to taylor swift and boy genius, read him bedtime stories, bake brownies with him, visit his mother with him, prove the prophecy wrong, tell him he's doing great sweetie, get him away from kronos, fight kronos, help him mend things with annabeth, hold him close while he vents, encourage him to explore other hobbies, be his support system

Tell me why I just saw someone say Luke from PJO isn’t allowed to be a victim of child abuse because he’s white….

Luke Castellan groomed a 7-16 year old girl who'd already been abused at home, disregarded a mestizo mexican boy's and japanese/wasian boy's safety and mental health for his own gain to win a war he started, killed an 18 year old black man in an explosion after manipulating his girlfriend he'd known since she was in middle school and [Luke] was high schooler senior age into thinking he was keeping him safe by flirting with her since he knew she had a crush on him and even slept with an underaged black girl but omg no guys Luke is SO for the victims and underdogs!!!!He really cares about the little guy i mean he likes little girls,he's such a feminist🥺

Has anyone checked in with Nic to see if she does indeed know that this kid is 13 years younger than her? Just need to make sure we’ve done the bare minimum here. 13 years! Is everything still going to seem cool when she’s 40 and he’s 27? Sorry, still just trying to wrap my head around this one!
So they still seem to be going strong and the age gap is much bigger
Tumblr media
And let’s be honest the age gap is not that big of a deal to some people.
While I would never even consider it I know that other folks are very open to it.
Let them do them at the end of the day.
It’s more or less the power imbalance that raises an issue for me but even then…
Both Nic and Luke have the upper hand with their respective partners but neither partner has remarkably benefited from their relationships as of yet.
Seems all they have managed to do is catch more hate and strife than anything.

the subtle horror of the campfire song literally makes me want to scream. luke leading the entire camp in a song about hating the gods, ending it with the idea he will be there for them when the gods aren't?? it's so good i will never shut up about it

The part of the people in the fandom that just doesn't understand the difference between manipulation and grooming is killing me. They describe only manipulation, but because of the age difference they call it grooming?
I'm really not sure how much I want to block them. Especially if they don't really demonize Luke in any other way.
Sweeties, just remember that grooming is a sexual manipulation aimed at obtaining sexual satisfaction. And nothing else.
What you call this word is called ordinary manipulation. No, age gap is not excuse to throwing this word.
I beg you – incorrect using terms is extremely harmful.

one thing I don’t get about Luke antis is that Silena being “groomed” (there is no indication of this in canon and honestly it’s a very sexist headcanon) is “oh no poor her” but Luke being canonically manipulated by Kronos is “he should’ve known better”

Planet au candy salad trauma dump trend! But with the people, I have the backstories for
Bianca: Hi, I'm bianca. My brother was ripped apart by campers because of a prophecy that said he might be cursed, leading ke to join thalias side to destroy Camp Half blood, and I brought Skittles
Piper: Hi, my name is Piper. I was SA'd as a child by one of my dad's famous costars, and my dad did nothing bc he didn't want to risk his reputation leading to a horrible relationship with love and intamacy that makes it much worse that im Neptunes daughter, god of love. I brought Squashies
Annabeth: Hi, im Annabeth, and I was groomed by my mom to be a perfect puppet for the gods and then had my will taken away from me and used as a weapon for my friends and I brought fizzy gummy worms
Luke: Hi, I'm Luke, and I was turned into a tree to prove a point by a vengeful goddess, and by the time I stopped being a tree, Thalia was considered a traitor who wanted to destroy the gods and Annabeth was virtually unrecognisable. I brought Chocolate fingers
Thalia: Hi, I'm thalia, and I had both my friends ripped from me at a young age and tried staying but ran away to form my own army, allying with dark forces bc I thought they'd be a lesser evil and I could overpower them, leading to the death of a lot of my friends. I brought pop rocks
(Theu all sit down and eat their candy)

Hot Take.
So not to defend Luke’s actions or anything, but I feel like we misunderstood what he meant when he asked Annabeth if she loved him. Now I am sort of a Luke apologist so do take what I say with a grain of salt and please do not be so harsh. Ok so when Luke asked Annabeth if she loved him (Which is the part that everyone brings up about this argument about Luke, and yes, I aged him down in my Au so he’s only around 18 in TLO but I’m doing it with cannon PJO, but Luke’s still an adult and Annabeth is still a minor) Now I belive when people make arguments about Luke being a p3do is kinda wild because when I reread the scene where Luke asked Annabeth if she loved him I thought what he meant by that is “Ok I’m on my death bed right now and the girl who has been my amazing little sister since she was seven is here and I still care about her so I’ll ask her if she cares and loves me since I showed her love and care when she back when I found her so I hope that the good of the past with show her that she doesn’t need to hate me so much so I’m sure she won’t take it the wrong way.”

I've always seen people hold responsible Percy rather than Luke for the multiple deaths during the series.
I have the impression that the fandom has always minimized or simply does not take into account the actions that Luke has perpetuated. or when they do it it's as a joke.
for example silena, her situation was turned as a joke in the fandom while the manipulation and blackmail, which luke as an adult subjected to silena is anything but funny and says a lot about luke.
when i see people saying luke asking annabeth if she loved him was out of character. This shocks me, especially since this scene is still rarely mentioned, as if people wanted to forget it. It's not because you don't like it that it's not true, that it's not canon.
The whole grooming thing that surrounds luke is not to be forgotten. this shows how bad he is and deviates from the nice camp boy to a vile man
In the end he is one of the few adult present in the first series, he is more mature than most of the characters. acting like he doesn't know what he's doing is absurd. As if he didn’t had a sword who can kills demigod and mortal for example when his hatred was supposed to be only on the gods.
In conclusion I hate Luke castellan and how this fandom portrayed him for year, as a boy little boy who was manipulated 🥺
(Of course I take Kronos' influence into account but it manifests itself more towards the end and we have to stop acting as if he couldn't have fought against her like other characters did)

Gotta re-read the whole PJO just so I can decide for myself whether Luke groomed Annabeth or he just happened to see her as a close one while she was harboring a crush on him because for everything holy on the sky, the fandom likes to use the big gun huh.

The og Pjo books are predomanently about child abuse and with that, comes a fair amount of themes of grooming. It's not super in there but it does arch across the series quite a bit, quietly,in Luke's serial pedophile status and the gods' martyring of Percy.Luke groomed Silena,Thalia,Kelli and Annabeth romantically and no,that last bit isn't a retcon since as far back as TLT,he does nothing to discourage her crush on him so the implication was always there but he also groomed the Titan's Army as a whole into his child soldiers and the Gods did the same to Percy only on a grander, more idealizing scale. They lied to her, they physically assaulted her, they insulted her, they used her for their own gain and acted like it was for her own good and they stole her childhood. They took advantege of her vulnerability and Luke did the same to a whole military's worth of abused kids and for a bit,he did the same to Percy too. It's hard to glaze over how awfully they were all treated and get the full picture for the story, ironically not unlike how they saw themselves in-universe.This is why i'm anti Luke x Percy and Percy x Gods ships in all contexts, even one-sidedly,because it weakens Pjo as a whole and feels like a cowardly cop-out as i usually see the defenders of 'Luke was Percy's bi awakening' and 'Dark Percy aus' acting as like if they don't frame it as grooming and instead as silly and lighthearted, then it's not grooming
But by irl definition and canon writings,Luke and the gods treatment of Percy is grooming and if turned romantic, falls under the more well-known definition of the former. She's 18 they watched her grow up ever since she was 12 as adults with the youngest having 7 years on her and the incestous abuser of her childhood best friend. There's really no way to frame it as something cute and funny without extreme insensitivity to grooming survivors and putting the new generation of Pjo fans coming in from the show in danger at joining them as it's been proven ships like this are used as tools for it,including in this fandom specifically. We also don't need Percy to like men to be queer, she's got a lot of subtext that borderlines on text indicating she's trans and shipping an autistic trans woman with men who abused her throught her prebucesent years all the way up to her entire teenage years is transmisogynistic for reasons i don't think i need to state and ignoring the many other women who were groomed by the same man you're shipping her with so you can make him look like her 'saviour' is regular misogynistic for equally obvious reasons
Aknowledging the grooming motifs in Pjo shouldn't be considered taboo and 'too much for a kids book series',because who exactly does grooming happen to and needs to know it's bad so they can spot it and save themselves from it?Exactly, kids.Plus, one of the book's is literally about the greek version of hell as a setting-I think if they can read that,it's okay to tell them 'Hey,adults being attracted to minors is bad even in fiction, please be aware of this and here is what it looks like so you can protect yourself and know how to cope if it already happened to you'
