Little nuances may have huge affect on how things are perceived, and I think Luke’s and Nic’s relationships and the public response to them are the biggest example to this. Nic has:

The timing right. The PR tour has been over for months now.

Gradually exposed the fandom to her relationship. This may not have an effect on GA but us polin/lukola fans are a little bir crazy and acclimatizing us for months really helped the response to be a bit positive compared to Luke’s

A better & stronger bond with her fans. Every artist is entitled to have their on ways with their fans but let’s be honest, when they communicate more, fans usually become more receptive

Been sharing different parts of her personality apart of her acting, like her charity works or friends. My understanding is she comes of more genuine to people

The list can go on and on but the idea is it’s not a coincidence that Nicola doesn’t get the same response Luke got. That’s not to say she didn’t make mistakes, for instance I think going that hard during the PR tour was a huge mistake on both Luke’s and Nic’s part and was disrespectful to their partners. But overall she handled the situation a lot better compared to Luke.

Comments on Kylo Ren

I think Ben is disappointed by all his father figures, which is a part of what fuels his rage. He sees Han as a scruffy criminal, Luke as a jealous rival and Snoke as an uncaring manipulator. He rejects all these father figures as wanting and can’t fill the void that’s left -- until he reaches that pivotal moment on Kef Bir.

Do you feel by the end of TLJ that Kylo was turning back to the light or solidifying his stance in the dark side?

Neither. He’s won a battle but lost his personal war, and is adrift. The Resistance has escaped, his chance at vengeance has been lost (complete with the great “no dice” joke when they disappear in his hand), and Rey has severed the connection between them.

What do you think Kylo was suggesting to Rey in the throne room? Do you see it as a strictly force partnership or did see his words as meaning more than just that and an actual relationship?

It wasn’t clear to me, because at that moment I don’t think it’s clear to Kylo. He sees Rey as a partner in the Force, absolutely, and there’s obviously this incredibly powerful connection between the two of them. But Kylo’s still working through his own issues there, including what that connection means to him.

He tries to use Rey, which is why she’s so disappointed in him – she thought she could bring him back to the light, and the first thing he does after she thinks she’s succeeded is to try and make her a partner in his ambitions.....that connection goes back to The Force Awakens, when Kylo tries to pry open Rey’s mind and instead lets her into his own. That’s pivotal for both of them – it unlocks Rey’s nascent power, because she sees how Kylo can do what he does, but it also leaves Kylo’s deepest fears and insecurities open to her.

I think this is additional wonderful insight into criticism around Finn's storyline in the The Last Jedi.

Along the same lines, I think the world of John Boyega, who’s a wonderfully dynamic actor and someone whose voice Hollywood needs to listen to. But I also think his criticism of Finn’s storyline in TLJ is misplaced. I think TLJ did a good job with Finn, and what fans who dislike his storyline are missing is that it’s a middle chapter – all complications and reversals and missteps, particularly for Finn. Finn is a remarkable character whom I’ve called the conscience of the sequel trilogy, a child soldier with a moral compass strong enough that he shakes off his programming and refuses to kill for the First Order. But he’s also in search of an identity after making that decision. In TFA he devotes himself to Rey, and that’s where he still is in TLJ. His new friends expect him to dedicate himself to the Resistance, but that’s the last thing he wants – he just stopped being a soldier for a cause, and he’s not signing up to do that again......... Finn’s one of my favorite characters, but I think he got shortchanged in ROS, not TLJ.

Dinosaur and Magic AUs apparently 😁

Okay so world where everyone has one magic gift. Some of them are really cool (levitation), some of them are very destructive (that awkward moment when you learn your toddler's magic gift is Fireballs), usually they're nothing special. Like you find out your magic gift is always being able to pick avocados that will be ripe exactly when you need them, or you're a necromancer, but only for overwatered cacti.

Julie's magical gift of being able to see ghosts and bring them back to life with the power of he hugs is a little bit of a shock. It's a powerful gift, considering Rose's magic of Summoning Car Keys and Ray's gift of always knowing exactly how someone takes their coffee.

She's only done it a few times, because she really needs to love that person for it to work. But let's just say Grandma Molina lived to see 130 before she patted Julie's hand and told her she was ready to go. Which, considering she didn't come back as a ghost and crossed over, was pretty clear, even though it was heartbreaking.

(It meant her Mom came back to her, though, and maybe that broke her friendship with Carrie because she wasn't able to bring her mom back when she and Carrie were both six. Just because something is a gift, doesn't mean it's always a blessing, her Mom explained.)

Still, when she met this dreamy ghost called Luke and fell in love with him after a few months of him haunting her Mom's studio and she brought him back, the Pattersons did call it a blessing. Luke was grateful for his second chance, even though he was kind of upset when he realised this meant he had to go back to high school.

Thankfully he makes friends pretty quickly at his new school. And drags them into a band with Julie, because who can say no to Luke's puppy eyes? (No, that's not his gift, it's summoning knit beanies. Not very useful in LA.)

Alex, their drummer, can turn into a cat, which Reggie, their bassist, is very, very jealous of. He shrugs when they ask him what his gift is. "Dogs really like me?" he suggests. Some people never really figure out what their gift is, or only very late in life. Like Tía Victoria, who only found out she was able to turn snow into powdered sugar after a very disastrous ski trip to Aspen with her college girlfriend.

It's not until he shows up at band practice one morning holding a box and looking very nervous that they find out what his gift is.

Which is... summoning tiny dinosaurs.

Real live dinosaurs, just teeny tiny. The biggest one, a long neck, is about the size of a chihuahua.

"What am I supposed to do with them?" he asks, desperate. "I just woke up this morning and they were in my room."

"Well first," Flynn suggests, reaching her hand in despite Alex' nervous protests. "Maybe call a museum or paleontologist or something because I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be feeding a stegosaurus donuts for breakfast."

"Yeah, I don't know, man," Luke agreed. "I can call my dad and see if anyone at his old university knows anyone with a specialty in dinosaurs. They look pretty real to me, but who knows. Maybe your power is just summoning creatures you imagined."

"Quick, summon a tiny unicorn!" Flynn said, and Reggie screwed his eyes shut. No unicorns appeared.

"I don't think I created them from my own imagination," Reggie said. "Because like, I never really knew velociraptors had feathers."

Nobody said anything. In fact, they looked concerned, and then panicked.

"Oh!" Reggie said, slinging his backpack off his shoulders and zipping it open. "Meet Chompy. I couldn't put him in the box with the others, he kept trying to eat Humphrey." Chompy, true to his name, snapped at them, before going back to devouring what appeared to be half of a beef jerky. His plumage was rather bright and gorgeous.

"Okay," Alex said, faintly.

In the end they called Mister Patterson, as well as Rose and Ray and Tía. This was an All Adults On Board kind of situation.

Carlos was delighted with his new pet brontosaurus for his birthday, though.

The Falcon gone, Rey swallowed her emotions and took in her surroundings, focusing on the task at hand. She had landed in a vast chamber. The floor was sloped upward, slippery with water, covered in seaweed, metal detritus, and even pieces of stormtrooper armor, blackened by fire. Wind whistled through gaping holes in the walls. There was a chill to the air, but that wasn't why a shiver ran through Rey's body. This place had been something once. Something important. Ahead of her, the sloped floor led to a huge viewport, half shattered, bayed out to the sky with the Kef Bir sun shining through. Before it was a dais of some sort, containing the ruined remains of a throne. This had been the Emperor’s throne room. Luke Skywalker had fought Darth Vader—his own father and Kylo's grandfather—here, and the energy, the memory of that battle still lingered, leaving a palpable imprint in the Force. Rey closed her eyes and opened herself to the energy, sensing a cataclysm of emotion, from terror, to pain, regret, and most of all… a determination to save someone who was deeply loved. Rey stepped toward the throne. One of the most powerful Dark Side users in history once sat on that throne, and now, over thirty years later, his would-be successor was looking to claim it. She was still wasting time looking around. She'd have to find the Wayfinder quickly, before Kylo came. That way when he did come, she could fight her way off the planet and fly to Exegol and finish this futile millenia-old battle between Jedi and Sith. The floor quivered beneath Rey's feet, and she leapt back just in time as a large panel dropped away. It clattered on its way down, the sounds growing ever fainter. She did not hear it land. Rey crept along the shadowy walls, where she hoped the floor was better supported, and came to a door. It had a complicated access mechanism that marked it as valuable and significant. This had to be the Emperor's Vault, where the Wayfinder surely was kept. She was so close! All she had to do was get through the lock, which was easier said than done. The Death Star had laid dormant for decades, and whatever access mechanism that existed likely was rendered ineffective after so much time, much less after the explosion that sent the wreck to Kef Bir in the first place. She drew her saberstaff and activated a single blade. With it, she pierced the grey metal wall until slag melted around the blue blade, and drew a large circle in the wall. Pushing with the Force, the circular slab gave way and slammed into the vault's floor with a sound that echoed throughout the empty chamber. Using the lit end of her saberstaff as a torch, Rey stepped through the wide hole that the saber had made, the ring still burning red hot. Rey stepped on and off the slab, careful to avoid the red hot rim as she entered into the vault. Shapes manifested around her, fragments of a person. It was her, she realized with dawning dismay. She was walking through a hall of shattered mirrors, seeing her own form reflected back at her over and over, like in the cave beneath Ahch-To. Except here, the shattered glass only gave her jagged funhouse pieces of herself—an arm here, a leather boot there, a lock of soaking brown hair, a bruised temple. The shards of endless reflection were a puzzle that Rey ached to solve, as though doing so might make a whole person finally appear. No, she thought with conviction. She would not allow herself to go through this again. The tease, the promise of knowledge and insight, only to come up with nothing in the end. The experience before had nearly shattered her spirit like the mirrors in this room. Rey closed her mind to the mirrors and continued forward, toward the thing that had been calling to her since she'd laid eyes on the wreck. The Emperor's Wayfinder hovered between black fittings, its pyramidal shape glowing soft red from within. With a second's trepidation, Rey reached for it and took it...

With the infamous words, "Somehow, Palpatine returned," the end of the third Star Wars trilogy premiered on December 20, 2019. There had been plans to focus on Han in the first movie, Luke in the second, and Leia the third, but the death of Carrie Fisher changed those plans. Producers decided to inlcude her primarily through using unused footage. To help with the nastalgia for the original trilogy Billy Dee Williams returned as Lando Calrissian, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Ian McDiarmid as Emperor Palpatine, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Mike Quinn and Kipsang Rotich as Nien Nunb, Warwick Davis as Wicket, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Denis Lawson as Wedge Antilles and R2-D2. Returning from the new trilogy were Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Domhall Gleeson (General Hux), Lupita Nyong'o (Maz Kanata), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Amanda Lawrence (Comander D'Acy), Billy Lourd (Lt Connix) and BB8. There were a lot of voice cameos by Shirley Henderson (Babu Frik), J.J. ahem anyways, all in all this card with dreams of benji goes so well side by side i think. if dreams of benji is *the* rosa card, then threads of time is *the* luke card cause i think he really shines here (it almost feels like that this acts as a better anniversary two card rather then orange scent) if i had to collate *the* luke pearce experience it would be personal story ep 1 & 2, shape of you, personal story 3 & 4, under the milky way, dreams of benji, sweet chapter 2, threads of time, (honorable mentions on love between pages (SUCH A GOOD SR CARD) also among the great blue (just because it's the card that made me fell with luke during the early periods of tot))

im seconding everything uve said abt the card’s story because Mood. and also reading ur thoughts made me realize that, probably among the reasons i adored this card was its balance of tone.

i personally tend to be more partial to card stories that isnt All Just One Emotion (i.e. it’s All angst, or it’s All shenanigans, or it’s All fluff), and this one just had such a lovely balanced mix of different things. immense emotions over luke’s dissappearance? check. intense hilarity over the series of unfortunate events that led to luke not being able to confess as a high schooler? CHECK (FUNNIEST FUCKIN THING TO ME, WAYLAID BY MESSING UP UR CRUSH’S BANGS, HELP). absolutely touching domestic fluff? CHECK CHECK CHECK. and to top it all off, PEANUT BACKSTORY!!! luke and mc have been co-parenting all this TIME im gonna run up the WALLS
