LBSC Lukanette Month - September 2024
Welcome to LBSC Lukanette Month 2024! If you're in a hurry, skip on down to the prompt list below, but be sure to check out the rest of the post for information about where and how to post for maximum visibility. Just to be clear, even though we call it LBSC Lukanette month, ANYONE can participate. There's no membership card and you don't have to join the discord or follow the blog.
You will notice we have many more than 30 prompts here - because there's no such thing as too many prompts. This way you can pick and choose which ones speak to you. As with all of our events, the rules are quite laid back (although we do have some hard and fast rules at the bottom of the post regarding the type of content). You may fill as many or as few prompts as you like, as often as you like, in whatever order you like, in whatever format you like (sprint, minific, 30 chapter epic, whatever makes you happy). Our official event dates are September 1 through September 30, but if you post outside of those dates, we'll still reblog. If you're inspired to write something that you wouldn't otherwise have written, our goals are met, so don't fret about the rules - unless rules inspire you, in which case, take the first 30 or the last 30 prompts and write one prompt every day.
If you are having trouble finding a prompt that speaks to you, you can also check out the LBSC Smooch Roulette generator or take a look at our past sprint prompts.
Please make sure to tag @lovebugs-and-snakecharmers in the body of your post so that we can be sure to reblog your work and include it in our final summary post!
If you post to AO3 please tag LBSC Lukanette Month 2024 and add your work to our collection here.

NSFW responses are permitted but characters must be 18 or older and the fic should be tagged accordingly. This is a Lukanette blog and a Lukanette event, so while Lukanette does not need to be the main ship, it needs to at least be included or referenced and considered endgame (in other words, they don’t have to be together by the end of your work, but the intent is that they’re headed in that direction, and if they're not, it's a tragedy, not The Best Thing For Everybody). The decision about what qualifies for reblog rests solely with the LBSC moderators. If a piece hasn’t been reblogged within a couple of days, either the mods felt the piece didn’t meet the criteria or it was simply missed; you are welcome to reach out in the asks to inquire which.

That’s Just Like... Soulmates? By: Haphira
for: @rierse - lbcs secret admire event 2024
Our blueberries loves soulmate stories- they know all the tropes. But everyone knows they aren't real, right?
Everyone knew that there was no such thing as soulmates, but Luka thought the closest one got was probably his sister and her girlfriend Rose. If you asked Luka, they were the perfect match, the right combination of sweet and dark. Luka never thought that he would run into someone that fit so well with him that it seemed like the Universe was sending blaring signs that this person and him were meant to be together, but after a few times of running into this woman, and the strange occurrences, Luka was starting to question.
It started on a regular day delivering pizza on his bike when he passed by a stunning beauty walking around the Trocadero, she was wearing a long deep red scarf, a stylist coat, carrying a sketch book. Her dark hair and bluebell eyes shined in the fall sunlight. Music was faintly playing in his head; he would need to write it down later.
Luka could admit that he was distracted, so when he passed by her, he didn’t know that his bike had snagged the end of her beautiful long red scarf. So when he heard the shriek of surprise and dread he slowed down, it wasn’t until the pounding of feet on concrete did he turn around to see that beautiful woman was running straight for him, so he stopped and that’s when he notice the red string caught on his bike that traveled a ways back to the woman holding the remains of her red scarf tightly. Instantly he got off his bike to detangle the red string.
The dark-haired woman caught up panting, “You...bike, got...my scarf!” She panted out, and Luka could only apologize.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t notice that my bike had caught your scarf,” Luka said, handing the red string back to her.
“I-” the woman let out a weary sigh, “Thanks,” she said accepting the string back and started to wound up the loose yarn.
“I truly am sorry,” Luka continued.
“It’s alright, just my bad luck coming into play,” The woman waved a red gloved hand that matched the now unraveled scarf.
Luka still felt bad, “Where did you get it?” he asked, hoping he could replace that one that had unraveled.
“I made it,” She replied. Well, there went that plan. Glancing at his watch, Luka realized he was starting to run late and cursed.
“Listen, I'm really sorry and I'd like to make it up to you, but I have to get going or I’ll be late,” Luka pulled out a business card from his pocket, “Here, contact me if you can think up something to replace the scarf, whether that is coffee, a sketch book or whatever, just, let me know.” Luka shoved the card into her hands then hopped onto his bike and road off. Not realizing he left a bewildered beautiful woman behind, staring at him then the card in her hand.
The next time they ran into each other, the following week later, was at a concert by Jagged Stone, he was playing in Paris for a few nights before leaving on tour. Luka was really excited to go see one of his favorite artists, an artist that always inspired him, in person.
Luka had splurged a bit and got a VIP ticket for the show; a chance to talk and take pictures with Jagged himself. After the bouncer stamped his hand, on the meat between his first finger and thumb, the bouncer smearing the stamp on the corner, then he looked around the room and spotted the woman with the red scarf again.
Luka couldn't help but smile, it felt like the Universe was giving him another chance. Walking over to her Luka tapped the woman’s shoulder and said hello.
The woman whirled around to face him, pins in her mouth as she was fixing a tear in a shirt on a mannequin. Her blue eyes got larger in recognition. She took the pins out of her mouth and set them into her wrist pincushion.
“It’s you, from Kitty Section, right?” the woman asked, eyes sparkling.
“Yeah, I’m Luka, the lead guitarist, I’m still really sorry about your scarf.”
The woman laughing lightly, Luka could write symphonies about her laugh, “I looked over your card and found your band, you guys have amazing music!” She gushed, a large smile on her lips.
“Thank you, uh...”
“Marinette.” she replied.
“Thank you, Marinette.”
“I tried to contact you but there was no contact info on the card, just the band name and where to find you online in the music store.” Luka realized he gave her the prototype of the card that he and Juleka were making.
“Oh shoot, here,” Luka dug out another card, this time with the band contact info on it. Marinette giggled and Luka blushed. Offering her the card and glancing down Luka noticed that Marinette had the same stamp on her hand in the same place as his, even with the slightly smudged corner.
“Huh, that almost looks like a soulmate mark.” Luka said absently, Marinette looked up from their hands in surprise.
“Oh! I was thinking the same thing! A friend of mine recently got me into this soulmate romance book series she highly recommends.”
“Yeah? My sister’s girlfriend is obsessed with anything romantic, and soulmates fall into that.” Luka replied.
They talked a little longer before Luka asked her to coffee next week, which Marinette said yes to, then Jagged made his extra loud entrance. Marinette shook her head fondly at Jagged and Luka couldn’t help but steal glances at her all night, music continued to play in his head, but he could wait until later to write it down, but right now, he couldn’t wait to get coffee with her.
The third time it happened, Luka started to get suspicious. Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, and three times is a pattern.
At their meet up, at a coffee shop in town near a fantastic bakery, Luka walks up to the meeting spot looking at his watch, watching the seconds tick down to 4 o’clock PM. He reaches the entrance at exactly 4 on the dot and bumps into someone, hearing an alarm go off. Looking away from his watch he realizes he bumped into the person he was trying to meet.
Marinette looked up at the same time as he did, hearing the alarm go off on her phone. 4 PM exactly and running into the person she was rushing to meet.
Luka and Marinette stare at each other for a moment.
“Wow, you look amazing.”
They blinked at each other again realizing they said the same thing at the same time. Giggling, Marinette tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and gestured to the door.
“Do you want to go in?”
Luka nodded and opened the door for her as they entered. They order their coffee and find a comfortable spot to sit.
“So, that was weird, right?” Luka asked, thinking over the times they bumped into each other, a pattern was forming.
“The ‘saying the same thing at the same time’ thing? Yeah, a bit weird.” Marinette conceded. She sipped on her coffee and looked Luka over again.
“It’s just, I was also looking at my watch, and it hit 4 PM exactly when we bumped into each other.” Marinette nodded, listening intently to him.
“Kind of like a countdown clock to when you meet your soulmate.” Luka paused, hoping he wasn’t going to scare her off. Thankfully Marinette just looked interested.
“And, there have been other cases too.” Luka continued, staring down at his coffee with a frown. It was weird right? Hitting all these soulmate troupes that Rose always talked about.
“I know there is no such thing as soulmates but...” Luka trailed off, he wasn’t sure if talking about this was a good idea on a first date, if this was a date.
“...It feels kinda like the Universe is waving a flag in our faces?” Marinette concluded.
“Yeah,” Luka agreed, thankful that she wasn’t put off by talking about soulmates. Like they were a real thing.
Marinette laughed, “I was thinking the same thing! Like my scarf being a red string of fate tying us together.” Luka looked back up with a soft gaze.
“And the matching VIP stamps like soulmate tattoos.” Luka added. Marinette laughed again, nodding her head quickly.
“Yes! Lots of different soulmate troupes seem to be happening with us.”
Luka nodded thoughtfully. It was like a lot of different soulmate troupes, and if Luka believed there was such a thing, which he was kind of starting to, then it seemed like Marinette was his soulmate.
“Would you like this to be a date?” Luka asked, Marinette’s eyes went wide, oh no, that didn’t seem good. Did he push her too quickly?
“I was under the impression this was a date?” Marinette cocked her head to the side, Luka blushed.
“Well, yes? When I asked you to coffee it was more to make up for your scarf, but I didn’t want to pressure you or anything.” Marinette smiled at his response.
“No pressure, but thank you for giving the option, you don’t know how much I appreciate that.” Marinette said. She took a sip of her coffee before looking up at Luka again. Luka felt trapped by her beautiful blue eyes.
He watched her lips move again, but he heard no sound over the pounding of his heart. Music seemed to be singing to him now, for the first time that day Luka wished he had his guitar.
“Luka?” Marinette called Luka snapped out of it and the music faded to the background.
“You are an extraordinary girl, Marinette. Clear as a music note, sincere as a melody. You’re the song that’s been playing in my head since we first met.” Luka reached out a hand to place lightly on top of hers. Marinette blushed and shyly looked up at him through her lashes. Oh, the music he could write about her eyes...
“I hope we can go on another date, maybe Wednesday?” Luka asked her, gaze imploring.
“Yes, I would like that very much.” She responded, smiling into her cup as she took another sip. They smiled at each other and continued to talk for the next serval hours.
Their next date would last the entire day, neither wanted to go home and at that point Luka was certain, if soulmates existed then he met his. Marinette was everything and more than he could have ever hoped for. When he told Juleka and Rose they laughed at him, until he started explaining all the events that occurred every time they met. Rose, not surprisingly, busts out in squeals of laughter and happiness. Then later when Luka introduces Marinette to Juleka and Rose, Rose screams about destiny and fate. Apparently, Rose and Marinette knew each other, and it was Rose who recommended to Marinette the book series on soulmate romances. Small world or ties of destiny, Luka wasn’t sure, he was just happy holding Marinette during movie night with Rose and Juleka. And the rest... well the Universe was happy that all their hard work finally got the blueberries they loved together.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!! 💙

Winter vacation
Marinette couldn't believe it was really happening.
After years being unable to leave Paris because of her Ladybug duties (and until a couple of weeks ago), she had assumed it was just an impossible dream. But now, at 18 years of age, it was happening: a winter vacation! With the best company she could ask for- her boyfriend Luka.
The trip had started roughly, with rain and a traffic jam as soon as the couple left Paris. His lack of driving experience showed, not only for the 'newbie' sign at the back of the rented car, but also with his annoyingly slow speed. And sure, safety first, as her parents had said, but they had completely miscalculated the time it would take them on the road. In consequence, the shopping for supplies had been rushed, just before closing time, and they barely made it to sign the rental contract and get the keys before the office closed as well. Later, at night, the concert they had gone to had been amazing and, luckily, the bed they finally crashed into after a long day was nothing but comfortable and warm.
It was perfect.
Almost.
Because the slim thread of light that crossed through the slit of the window's dark curtain and angled with precision on her closed eyes that morning was annoying.
Marinette internally groaned. If it wasn't for the inappropriate sunrays, she would still be sleeping safe and sound: safe, because of the arms that surrounded her warmly; and sound, for the audible yet relaxing humming of her loved boyfriend (and her own snores too).
"Good morning" Luka finally decided to speak after noticing her shifting because of the sunlight. "It's mid-morning. Shall we wake up?"
"Hmmm" she stretched her legs and pushed closer to him, trying to avoid the sunlight. He smiled as he leaned down and kissed the top of her head, to her contentment.
"Do you want a coffee?"
"Hmm… Yes"
Warm coffee in bed, with Luka, while it was cold outside sounded like a little piece of bliss. Luka rolled to the side and sat down on the bed, putting his slippers on, ready to stand up. She immediately noticed her own mistake when she missed his body heat.
"Wait no! Don't go!" Her hands instinctively moved closer to hug his torso from behind. "Snuggles in bed?"
"Snuggles or coffee?" He chuckled, rubbing the arms surrounding him, interlacing their fingers and turning just enough to see her face.
"Both?"
Despite being weak to his girlfriend's pleading voice and the temptation of snuggles, Luka brought out all determination not to cave. He smiled fondly, placing a kiss on the back of her hand while skillfully releasing himself from her embrace. "I'll be back in a minute"
"Noooo" Marinette whined as he stood up and started walking away. Luka giggled, amused by her reaction: cute.
He exited their bedroom and moved to the open living-dining-kitchen. The bungalow they had rented was small, but very practical. Certainly more than enough for the two of them. And for the kwamis. The lack of neighbors made it even better, more private and quiet, ideal for those little noisy gods to play around without having to worry for them to be seen.
Luka's steps stopped at the window, and when he ran the curtain to look outside… his eyes opened wide.
"Wow… You have to see this, Marinette"
"Hm?" She mumbled, from the bedroom.
"C'mon, sleepyhead! Come here" He called, chuckling at her lazy mumble. Soon enough, clumsy feet hopped to him rapidly and her arms wrapped around him in search of some warmth.
"Cold"
"It is," he smiled, naturally returning her embrace. "Look"
He pointed outside, and Marinette's eyes opened wide, sparkling at the sight.
"Woah-! Snow!" She jumped closer, not letting go. "There's snow, Luka!"
"Yes, there is."
He loved her excited grin. She was dazzling. And he couldn't stop his lips from curving up watching her bright smile.
"Let's go!" She pulled him and then ran towards the door.
"Huh? What about coffee?" He asked, but she was already putting her boots on.
"Not now!"
"And snuggles?" He tried.
"Later!" She rushed and opened the door wide, too mesmerized to worry much about the change of temperature, despite her shivering "Aaahh!! Snow!!"
"Marinette, wait! You're still wearing your pajamas! At least put a coat on! And gloves!"
"Ah-!" she stopped mid-door realizing. She put on her thickest coat that Luka handed her and the gloves she had inside it's pocket and immediately ran outside to touch the snow. "C'mon, Luka!"
"Fine, fine…" he didn't bother to change either. With his boots, coat, gloves and a knit hat on, he soon followed after her. When he reached his girlfriend, he handed her a pink knit hat that she immediately put on.
"It's so nice!" The girl laughed, stepping on the snow fully unaware of Luka's smirk.
"Marinette-"
"Hm?"
She turned around to his calling and-
Pooff
A snowball hit her forehead.
"Oh, no! I'm sorry! I wasn't aiming for your face!" She quickly covered her face with her hand and he reached closer to check on her, with worry. "Are you ok?"
Before he could see her face she turned to him and-
Pooff
A snowball hit straight to his face.
"Hahahah payback!" She bent her middle while laughing.
"So you choose war…" his eyebrow arched and his smirk turned up playfully.
"You started!" She stuck her tongue out. "Besid-" Another snowball almost hit her as she was about to talk, but she dodged it skillfully. "Ha! You miss-!"
Pooff
Before she could celebrate another smaller snowball hit her from another angle.
"Hey! That's not fair! You should be helping me and not him, Sass!"
"Ssssorry! Luka promissssed to give me a feasssst and to play my favorite ssssong if I helped him!" Luka shared a knowing look with his kwami.
"Sneaky you!" She protested, but Luka dodged the snowball she threw at him.
"It's no use. You should know by now that it is important to have good allies in battle!"
Oh, Marinette knew that too well. She had no doubts that the final battle against Hawkmoth and all that preceded it wouldn't have ended as well if Luka hadn't been with her, her closest and most reliable ally to lean on. When he confessed he knew about her secret identity, she had regretted not having told him earlier.
Oh, and talking about allies...
"Tikki!! Help me!" Marinette called. But Tikki stared at them from the other side of the window, shivering and covering herself with the curtains. "Tikki!! C'mon!" The kwami ignored Marinette’s call for help. Before the human girl could complain, another snowball fell on her head. "Ouch!"
The snowballs kept flying from one side to the other, taking cover behind the few trees and bushes of the wide garden, laughing filling the space.
"Well? Do you surrender, Marinette?"
"Never!"
She knew she was at a disadvantage, but the words 'surrender' and ‘give up’ weren't in her vocabulary. Cornered by Luka on one side and Sass at the other and without anywhere to take cover she relied on her last resort.
"HIYAAAH!"
She charged against Luka, tackling him to the not so deep snow mat on the floor, her body over his.
"You cheater! That's not how a snowball fight works!" Luka laughed, pulling her closer in a tight hug.
"Everything is allowed in battle! And I won! That's all that matters!" She raised her face to meet his eyes and grinned.
He chuckled "You little mi-" ‘mischievous?’ she expected. "Miraculous girl" he unexpectedly ended, kissing the top of her nose. "You're too cute"
She flustered, hiding the reddish color in his chest. "That's not fair…"
"Didn't you just say everything is allowed in battle?" He smirked and she sank her face on his chest deeper as she shook her head lightly in disagreement.
If it was cold- they didn't mind it. They were pretty warm and cozy holding each other closely, despite his back being sunk in the snow.
"Is the snow battle over now?"
Sass's question brought them back to reality.
"Yes, Sass. Thank you for your help. There's some tofu in the fridge. You can take one pack. I'll prepare more for you later, your favorite."
"Thhhhhank you, Luka!" Sass’ tail bounced happily and the pair looked amusedly as Sass flew away, crossing through the window where Tikki had been some minutes ago. Then, Marinette rolled to the side, her back on the snow, next to Luka. They shared a smile.
"Do you want to play more with the snow or-"
"Snow angels!" She proclaimed. "I want to do it!"
"Sure. Let's do it"
'Her enthusiasm is contagious,' Luka thought.
Marinette laughed as she moved her arms and legs, spreading up and down against the snow. When her arms were stretched towards Luka, her hands bumped into Luka's arm.
"You're too close! It's not going to look good!" Her cheeks pumped up, lips puckered as she stood up to let herself fall on the snow a bit further away. He looked entertained at her excitement and copied her action, making sure he left enough space for her to move freely without him being in the way. "This feels great, Luka! So much fun!"
At this point, Luka was just relishing watching Marinette play. She blushed when she looked to her side and found him staring at her with those enamored eyes of his. Arm strengthened, he pulled himself slightly closer, just enough to approach her hand, carefully, so he didn't destroy her snow angel. She gladly took it without a second thought.
"I'm so happy, Luka" she squeezed her hand in his. "This place is super lovely and I have the best company I could ever wish for. I love you. I'm so glad to have you in my life"
"The feeling is mutual, Marinette" he hummed a melody, and she listened closely, letting herself get lost into it. "Do you want to head back or do you want to play more with the snow?" He asked.
"I want to make a snowman!" She exclaimed.
"Sure" he smiled at her begging eyes. "But why don't we have lunch first? I heard your stomach rumble"
"You heard!?" She blushed.
"Yes, I did. I'm hungry too. Let's cook and eat first and work on the snowman later? We can have our coffee after lunch"
"Sounds great!" She grinned.
"And what about the snuggles? Do you still want them?" He teased.
"Of course I do! All day! Next to the fireplace!" She daydreamed out loud. "But only when the snowman is finished!"
"Very well" he chuckled, his back straight up. "Let's hurry inside. It's freezing here" he stood up and moved in front of Marinette, who took his hand to help herself up to her feet with a quiet "thank you". He pulled her hand tightly. "You know, Marinette? I was thinking that maybe the kwamis will want to help us with the snowman"
"Oh! What a great idea!" Marinette's eyes filled with sparkles. "It's been a while since they've been outside the box! I bet they'll love it!" Her eyes looked at the window and she spotted Tikki frowning her brows. Marinette's expression mimicked the kwami's. "Well- as long as they're not as weak to the cold as Tikki…"
Luka snickered at the glare Marinette gave to the red kwami. He didn't expect her to be so hurt by her kwami's betrayal over a playful match. The scene was somewhat funny to him.
"Marinette, I-" Tikki called as soon as the girl entered the house, but Marinette tilted her head up and to the side with an annoyed "Hmph!" and moved to the bedroom to change her clothes.
Luka and Sass approached the kwami, who was sulking. "Don't worry, Tikki. She understands you dislike the cold. She's just a bit hurt"
"But…"
“You should help us to build the snowman later. It will be fun and I'm sure Marinette will be pleased. And if you need help with her, we’re here” Luka assured, and Sass nodded.
"Okay"
Tikki was still a bit unsure when Luka left to start lighting the fireplace. The guitarist didn't think the day he was going to use Anarka's survival skills teachings would come, but there he was- lighting a fire with logs and kindling. Tikki and Sass watched him carefully light the fire, learning while being fascinated with the flames growing taller. With the fireplace ready, Marinette approached to warm up beside it while waiting for Luka to come back with dry clothes on.
"Luka! I'm going to cook for you!" She informed him, with her apron on. "I want to thank you for always being so wonderful to me"
He had just finished hanging his winter clothes next to hers by the fireplace with Sass and Tikki's help when she spoke.
"Let's cook together, then" he rolled his sleeves up as he walked towards the kitchen.
"Eh? But-!"
"I want to thank you and show you my appreciation for you as well."
"You don't have to! You already spoil me all the time… I want to spoil you too!"
"You do spoil me, Marinette. Every minute you spend with me, I feel like the most fortunate person in the world"
"That’s not true! You're the one spoiling me! Why won't you let me spoil you!?" She whined.
"What do you want to eat? Should I cut some vegetables?" He tied his apron on.
"Luka! I was talking-!" She started, but he gave her that innocent look of his as he got a knife and had a couple of leeks ready in his hands. "Ah- yes, vegetables are good, if you please"
Argh- Lucky her how Hawkmoth never realized Luka was her weakness.
______
Marinette had already known from previous (multiple) occasions, but she really liked how well she and Luka worked together. Be it with fashion and art sense, cooking or fighting akumas. They understood each other without words, almost as if they could read the other's minds. And she loved it. The calm and assurance that Luka gave her made her relax and feel at peace. It almost seemed like a brand new feeling, after years of daily stress from her double life routine.
Luka was her safe place.
A very special person she loved and wanted to keep close by in her life forever.
____
Marinette released the kwamis while the quiche was in the oven. Some of them immediately sought for warmth by the fireplace that Sass was feeding with more logs, following Luka’s instructions. Apparently, a few kwamis also disliked the freezing weather as much as Tikki did, the humans noticed. Meanwhile, Pollen, Kaalki, Roarr and Ziggy searched for items to decorate the snowman later and the other kwamis played around the room while Luka played his acoustic guitar and Marinette knitted.
"Tikki" Marinette called her kwami. "Come here, please"
Nervous, the creation kwami nodded and reached her human friend, who had her hands closed. "Yes…?"
"This is for you," the human girl said to the kwami's surprise. When she opened what was hiding in her hands, Tikki was speechless in delight.
"That’s-"
"I knitted you warm clothes. Now you have no excuse not to come play with us, ok?" She winked.
"Marinette!! I love it! Thank you!!" Tikki flew to hug her smiling face tightly. "I'm sorry for earlier!"
Marinette giggled at the tears of joy spilled by the kwami and returned the embrace. "I know, Tikki. I'm not mad. I know you would come and help me no matter how cold it was outside if I was in real danger. You already proved so many times." If the kwami wasn't red they would have noticed her blushing. "But I wanted you to come and play with us, too. It's rare to have free time like this, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is. You worked very hard these past years and I'm very proud of you! I'll be very happy to help with the snowman!" She grinned, wearing the robe and its hoodie on.
"Good!" Marinette grinned. "Why don't you go help Kaalki and the others then?"
"Okay!" Tikki flew away to join the rest of the kwamis.
"Tikki! Your robe looks so cute! I want one too, guardian!" "Me too!" "And me!"
"Fine, fine" Marinette giggled, knitting a few more pieces of clothing for all of them- or at least for the ones who disliked the cold.
Luka continued playing his guitar, but he couldn't help but to smile fondly at the happy sight. The moment he made eye contact with the ladybug kwami, he made sure to wink in reassurance and the kwami smiled brightly in response.
_______
After lunch and coffee, Marinette, Luka and the kwamis went outside to build the snowman. They worked playfully while singing the song from Disney’s movie Frozen altogether (Longg sang it in Japanese, to everyone’s surprise). Marinette and Luka chuckled as she admired Fluff’s effort not to eat the carrot used as the snowman’s nose.
Before they could give the snowman its final touch, the ladybug themed knit hat suggested by Tikki, a strong gust of wind made the piece of clothing fly away with it.
"Oh- no! Come back!" Marinette straightened her arm, trying to catch it, but Luka pushed her the other way as the wind became stronger. A few branches fell down to the snow covered floor.
"Marinette, everyone! Inside! Now!" Luka yelled.
"But the hat!" Marinette protested.
"When the weather improves! Now let's get safe inside!"
Once safe inside, the kwamis and Marinette looked at the snowman with puppy eyes through the window.
"The snowman will be cold…" one kwami lamented. "Can't we really go get it real quick?"
"I want to. Maybe it's still close if we hurry-"
"No, you can't," Luka settled, cutting Marinette's suggestion short.
"But you bought that hat for me, Luka! It's important to me!"
"It's just a hat, Marinette. There's nothing as important to me as your safety." Marinette let her body weight fall onto Luka, wrapping her arms around his middle and she rubbed her back with care. "Let's go search for it when the wind and the snow stop, ok?"
"Will we find it?" She mumbled sadly into his clothes.
"Well- I can't say. But we have luck on our side, don't we?" He touched her earrings with his eyes.
"You, dork!" She giggled at his comment. "But well- it's true that I do feel very lucky with you. Plus we do have the best little allies!"
He laughed back and wrapped her even closer, lifting her slightly to the air. After a few awkward steps, he let themselves fall down on the couch, by the fireplace. He smirked at her confused face. "Now- snuggles?"
"Yes!" She laughed cozily, hugging her boyfriend even closer.
They didn't need to ask before the kwamis brought them a blanket and joined them around.
‘Definitely the best allies’, they agreed.
_____
They spent the rest of the afternoon there, cozy, snuggling together with the warmth of the fireplace, with the kwamis either playing around the fire or nestling with the couple under the blanket.
“I really needed this vacation… It’s been a very long while since I’ve felt so nice… maybe never,” Marinette hugged him tighter. “Thank you for taking me here, Luka”
“Thank you for coming with me, Marinette” He kissed the top of her head and returned the embrace, making sure the blanket covered her properly. His efforts turned out worthless as she changed positions, rose up to kiss his lips lovingly and settled comfortably between his face and his shoulder. He readjusted the blanket over them.
Maybe they were away from Paris, from their families, from their friends… and from the flat they were going to move into together next month…
But being there, safely snuggled in each other's arms…? It was very, very nice…
At home.
As for the kwamis? They were noisy, sure, but it was joyful being able to let them play freely like that.
A happy family she wanted to keep forever.
“Let’s come back next year,” she suggested with excitement. “And every year from now on…” she dared, expectantly.
He looked at her in surprise, but immediately softened at what she implied.
Luka knew he wanted her forever… The little box he kept hidden inside his guitar case was proof enough. Besides, Valentine's day was around the corner. Maybe it was about time to pop the question…
“Every year from now on sounds wonderful,” he whispered in delight.
“Good!” Marinette squished her lips into his cheek and took cover once again into his shoulder. She was quite sure he was blushing, but the warmth from the fireplace made it hard to tell.
Their wide smiles left no trace of doubt about their love and happiness, though.
_______
The next day, the wind and snow had stopped. Together, with the kwamis, they finished the snowman. Luckily, the ladybug themed knit hat got stuck in a bush nearby and Tikki found it easily. She had wanted to help despite the cold, and Marinette had rewarded her, gladly, with hand-made macarons.
On the third day, the snow melted, including the snowman. The kwamis teared up and cried at their loss, but the sun was out and the weather was very nice for a stroll amid nature and a picnic. The day turned out to be really enjoyable.
During their little vacation, Luka composed a few songs- all of them about Marinette- and Marinette sketched a few designs- based on Luka (and a few of the kwamis). They shared plenty of kisses- too many to count-, cuddled a lot beside the fireplace cozily, whispered hundreds of ‘I love you’, tenderly, to each other’s ears and made love for the first time when they felt naturally ready for it.
They never failed to inspire, love and support each other.
And when their vacation ended, they were sad to leave the bungalow behind, but made sure to leave the reservation for next year and for the same dates paid beforehand.
And that next time, when they returned, Marinette wore a shiny engagement band on her ring finger, expected to soon be substituted by a wedding band that matched her now fiancé and future husband, Luka.
Year after year, they kept the tradition and they agreed to call it ‘the best days of the year’.

🩵 love this!
@verfound this is so sweet ❤️
FIC: "That Time Xuppu Broke the Chair" (MLB; Lukanette; LBSC Lukanette Month 2024)
@lovebugs-and-snakecharmers is doing a Lukanette Month for September 2024, and we all just kinda tossed some prompts in the disco to compile a list? We ended up with 71 prompts, so I decided I’d roll some dice to pick a prompt, do a twenty minute (ish, bc we all know sometimes they run away from me) sprint, and try to get some short fics out this month?
Read on Ao3
02 September 2024
Prompt 11: Broken Chair
“I’m bored,” Xuppu whined from his spot in Marinette’s window. Tikki looked up from the desk, where she had been watching a video on Marinette’s computer with some of the other kwamis.
“Come watch with us, then,” she said. Xuppu huffed and rolled onto his back, throwing a paw over his eyes dramatically as his head lolled towards the desk.
“But I’m bored!” he whined again. “Mistress hasn’t let us out in forever! I miss my doofus!”
“Yeah,” Barkk sighed, nudging the ball with her nose to roll it back towards the wall. She sighed as it bounced back towards her. “Me, too.”
“I do miss Rose,” Daizzi piped up. Tikki frowned as she looked around at her fellow kwamis.
“You all know why we have to lay low,” she said. Beside her, Sass hissed out a sigh.
“Yesss, yesss,” he said. “We all know why. That does not make it any easier, Tikki.”
“Yeah,” Xuppu said. “At least you and egg-breath get out sometimes.”
“It’ssss not my fault my power is more ussseful than yours,” Sass bit. Xuppu sat up, ready for a fight, but Tikki called them to order before they could get out of hand.
“Enough, enough!” she called. “Xuppu, you know it’s not personal!”
“Feels personal,” he grumbled, thinking of how often Sass’s holder had been around lately. Of course he would get out more – their Guardian liked the musician. He never got to see Kim anymore.
“It is not,” Tikki huffed. “Just…find some way to entertain yourself, ok? You’ll be back in the field soon enough, I’m sure of it!”
Xuppu grumped and flopped back onto the windowsill, pouting as he looked around the room. Something shiny under Marinette’s chair caught his eye, and he grinned as he sat back up.
“Ok, Tikki,” he said, hopping up to float over to the desk. “I think I will.”
. : .
“It’s just up here – you don’t have to follow me up,” Marinette laughed, rolling her eyes as Luka stepped into the room behind her. “I’ll only be a minute. Promise.”
“It’s fine,” he said, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he looked around. She had a new dress partially completed on the dress form in the corner – something black, from the looks of it, but he wasn’t sure how far along in the process she was. The black fabric could always be a template or something. “I’d…rather avoid Tom’s interrogation, if its all the same.”
“…interrogation?” she laughed, looking back at him. “What interro…”
It all happened so fast.
One minute Marinette was sitting down on her chair, intent on rolling over to her desk to look for the folder she had forgotten that morning. The next thing she knew, the chair tilted and wobbled as the wheels went one way and the seat went another, and she was hit by the sudden feeling of weightlessness as she crashed to the floor. For his part, Luka realized what was happening the second her eyes widened and had reached for her hand, but it was already too late. He grabbed onto her wrist, trying to stop her, but all that managed to do was pull him down after her.
There was a loud crash, and a rattle from the desk, and maybe even a shout. The next thing she knew, Marinette was on her back on the floor, Luka sprawled on top of her and staring down into her wide eyes with his own. They were both panting and slightly rattled.
What the hell…?
“…are you ok?” he asked, his eyes searching her face. She swallowed, her mouth snapping shut, and nodded. He frowned, his brow pinching as his eyes darted down to her lips. “You sure?”
“Y-yeah,” she mumbled, her fingers twitching at her side. “Nothing. Um. Nothing feels broken. You?”
“Yeah,” he said absently, nodding. Her brow pinched, and he shook his head as he realized what he had said. “I-I mean no. Nothing…nothing broken.”
“…we should get up now,” she said.
“Probably should,” he agreed, nodding. She swallowed again, and his eyes dropped to her throat.
“Can’t…um. Can’t do that if you don’t,” she said, tapping her fingers again. “You know. Move. First.”
“…yeah,” he said, but he made no effort to actually get up. She lifted an eyebrow, and he shook his head. “Is it…ok if I kind of don’t want to?”
“Luka…” she said. His hand was by her face, and her eyes fluttered shut as he brushed his fingers against her temple. “I-if you thought the interrogation from just standing around downstairs was going to be bad, don’t you think Papa finding us like this will be worse?”
“Kind of don’t care,” he chuckled. He sounded dazed. She couldn’t blame him – she felt a little dazed, too. “Mari. Can I…”
“Can I?” she asked, and when had her hands lifted from the floor to his sides? Her fingers were still nervously tapping, and he chuckled again as he leaned in closer.
“We should probably pick you up a new chair when we go out,” he said, brushing his nose against hers. She liked how that sounded. Them. Going out – though staying in was starting to sound pretty good, too. “What even happened there, anyway?”
Marinette had her theories, but with a whole Luka on top of her and his face that close to hers…she didn’t really care. She probably owed someone a treat, though, if…
“It’s on old chair,” she said softly.
“It was a cool chair,” he said. Her fingers tapped against his sides again, and he smiled at her.
“Luka?” she asked, making him hum. “Shut up and kiss me.”

What are your opinions on the S3 finale (Heart Hunter & Miracle Queen).
This is a tricky question because season four went on to completely drop the ball on everything the season three finale setup. That makes it hard to look at the season three ending positively even though it seemed to be a great setup for shaking things up. There are a ton of fantastic fanfics that take the events of the season three final and use them to tell a great story.
Canon, on the other hand, just wastes our time. The season three finale leads into a season of nonsense conflict that ends in a final that is a total rehash of everything the season three final did: Marinette makes a mistake and Gabriel gets all the miraculous. Only, this time, he gets to keep them because there's no deus ex machina to magically steal them back. You can skip from season three to season five and all you'll miss is Su Han's intro and Alya knowing Marinette's identity. Heck, season five even repeats season four's romance padding! They just do it with Marichat instead of Lukanette and Adrigami. It's extremely paint-by-numbers.
If we ignore all of that and pretend that season three just finished, then I'd probably give the final four out of five stars? It's got some decent elements!
Gabriel's plan to manipulate Chloe is a genuinely good one even though I'm not sure why he needed Chloe specifically. Anyone could have wielded the bee and there's no reason he needed the bee to grant an akumatized person Miracle Queen's powers. Still, they did a good job creating a situation where Chloe would be scared and mad enough to side with the bad guy. It's genuinely solid writing that felt properly setup, which is not something I can say for any other final.
Outing all of the temp heroes was a strong, bold move! It should have led to interesting things. Some examples: Gabriel tracking down Ladybug, Ladybug having to pick a new set of temp heroes, and/or Marinette having to distance herself from her civilian friends who were the former temp heroes. Any and all of these would have been a blast! Instead, the reveals are treated as a total nothing burger. Alya even gets a full-time miraculous and access to Ladybug's identity, all of which should be a hard no once her identity is out there.
Removing Fu was another strong move, though somewhat weakened by the fact that Fu never felt all that important to the story. If we pretend that he was written like a real mentor, then this is another exciting status quo change. Who will Ladybug turn to now that her mentor is gone and Alya's hero ties have been outed? It's not surprising that many viewers expected season four to be the season of Ladynoir. And it was! Just not the flavor anyone wanted...
The Kagami conflict was a decent one. I like the idea of Marinette making the wrong choice for a temp hero to call in based on her feelings for Adrien. It's a much better version of this issue than the rehash we get in the season four final where the only reason Marinette's choice is wrong is because of an evil twin. However, it's once again weakened up the setup.
With both Kagami and Chloe having previously been outed, it's hard to view either choice as the right one. For this to really work, Chloe should not have been publicly outed. Gabriel should have learned her identity by accident and she should have been benched because she's a mean girl who has done nothing to earn a miraculous. The story didn't need a stronger justification for Ladybug to never call on Queen Bee again.
In fact, this episode actually really needed better justification for why it was wrong to pick Kagami over Chloe. Chloe was officially benched and there wasn't anything special about her that made her desperately needed for this fight. The only reason people feel like Chloe should have been picked in the season three finale is because it was her parents who were in danger, but in-universe, there's no rule that says temp heroes need to be the ones to help when their families are in danger. That's actually a pretty crappy rule. Pick whoever is best for the job. Similarly, the only reason it was a bad call was because of things Marinette didn't know (which would also be repeated in season four's final).
Still, the episode plays these events in an engaging way where Marinette does initially want to go for Chloe and the show did establish the "you get to help when you're family is in danger" rule, so I'm willing to give these flaws a pass in a way I'm not willing to forgive the flaws in the season four rehash. I can actually criticize Marinette's actions in season three. In season four she does nothing wrong.
One thing I will straight up criticize is having the episode end with Adrigami and Lukanette being together. That was an extremely cheap cliffhanger that got immediately undone in season four. It was also totally unnecessary. The temp heroes identities being outed, Fu losing his memories, and Chloe's betrayal are much stronger elements to focus on. You don't need the teen romance! Then again, none of the serious elements went on to meaningful impact the story, so maybe that's why season three ends on that weird note where it doesn't feel as serious as it should?
As you can see, my praise for this episode is pretty tepid. In a better show, it would be a fantastic season finale. In Miraculous? It fails to hit properly because of poor setup and then fumbles the landing for the things it sets up, making it hard to give it any real praise. At the time, I was genuinely curious where it would go, but I lost interest pretty quickly. It was clear that they had no plans to give proper weight to the events of the season three finale just like we didn't get proper weight for the season four finale and will probably not get proper weight for the season five finale.

Sometimes Goodbye Is A Second Chance
“If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it’s yours. If it doesn’t, it never was.” — Richard Bach
***
My contribution to the Lukanette Big Bang fandom event!
Title: Sometimes Goodbye Is A Second Chance
Words: 1,542
Chapters: ??
Summary: Luka Couffaine had always known how Marinette Dupain-Cheng felt about Adrien Agreste. Despite that, Luka was grateful for the chance that he and Marinette took at having a relationship. When it didn’t work out, Luka took the advice of a familiar old saying and let Marinette go, happy that they could both still be friends.
Years later, on the brink of adulthood, Adrien abruptly disappears from their lives, leaving all of his friends in grief. Luka finds Marinette come back to him in her sadness. Though he would love nothing more to have his own Second Chance, Luka would never expect that and is happy just to comfort his ex-girlfriend.
However, like Shinedown once said, “Sometimes goodbye is a second chance”. Could this be Luka’s?

Remember the season 3 finale ending with Lukanette and Adrigami and half of the fandom was like “I can’t believe the lovesquare is dead forever now 💔” only for them to break up immediately at beginning of season 4…
…its almost like…events that happen in a finale are not always permanent…

Artist applications for the MLLBB are officially open! Want to become an artist with us? Unlike the original Miraculous Big Bang, the focus of this event will be entirely on Lukanette!
This means that Lukanette will be the end goal of the event, not any other ship for either of them. So long as the endgame is Luka Couffaine / Marinette Dupain-Cheng, other pairings are allowed in.
For this event, artists will create two art pieces. There's an FAQ available on our pinned post to learn more about the event.

Lukanette Idea
Kitty Section (& Mylene) Sugar
Marinette's Calender - It has the whole class not just Adrien he just has the most activities and takes up the most space - Gets used against her by Lila and Alya
Kitty Section offers The Liberty as a safe place to hide
They find out most of what Marinette knows (Minus being Ladybug obviously) And supports her through and emotional break down.
And then plans (On their own because Marinette deserves to be taken care of) How to take down Lila, Alya and Adrien, who is unsupportive despite knowing Lila is a liar
Also a JuleRose, Myvan, and Lukanette triple date sounds cute
Lukanette is my favorite pairing for Miraculous Ladybug, so I love the choice there! This got...a little out of hand, so I couldn't fit everything in there, but I hope you like it!
Marinette was genuinely forgetful, and incredibly busy. The fact that she had a calendar with everyone’s events on it was a natural progression of that, since she would, actually, like to spend time with her friends on occasion. Adrien’s activities taking up such a large portion of the calendar was just because he had a lot of activities! But Alya…she’d taken a picture of it, and shared it with Lila, who in turn showed it to the rest of the class and twisted it into something creepy and stalkerish.
She was good at twisting things like that. One day full of side-eye from everyone except Juleka, Rose, Mylene, and Ivan and snide comments about being a stalker and Marinette was ready to cry-or scream. Fleeing to the park after school had been a thoughtless decision, brought about simply because she didn’t want to go home and have to look at that calendar quite yet. She collapsed under a tree and couldn’t help the silent tears that spilled over.
She knew she had to calm down. She knew. But Marinette couldn’t stop replaying the day over and over in her head, seeing Lila’s smug little smirk and Alya’s self-righteous look.
“Ma-Ma-Marinette,” Luka’s low voice greeted her playfully before he caught a good look at her face. “Hey.” He sat down beside her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her in for a hug. “It’ll be ok,” he murmured to her. “Whatever it is, I’ll make it ok.”
Marinette let out a wet laugh as she swiped at her cheeks half-heartedly. “I don’t think it will be,” she told him tiredly.
“Come to the Liberty,” Luka offered. “We’ll talk about it and make a plan.”
“You hate plans,” Marinette said, a small smile tugging at her lips. Luka was definitely more a fly by the seat of his pants kind of guy.
“Yeah, but you don’t.” Luka’s gentle look somehow ripped Marinette apart and put her together again at the same time.
Marinette should have expected the ambush at the Liberty, but she wasn’t even mad about it. Juleka, Rose, Mylene, and Ivan dragging her (and Luka by way of proximity) into a group hug while telling her that they knew it wasn’t anything creepy was a balm to her battered emotion. The brief explanation about what happened during class had Luka’s eyebrow raising incredulously. “They’re stupid,” Juleka concluded darkly.
“I-you’re busy,” Luka said in disbelief. “How exactly do they expect you to keep track of all of the events they have-that they ask you to make stuff for and don’t pay you for-without having it on a calendar or something?”
“Your guess is as good as mine,” Marinette murmured. “But Lila’s a huge liar, so I’m not surprised she’s pulling something like this.”
“You’ve said that before,” Mylene said slowly, her voice soft and considering. “What do you mean?”
Marinette hesitated for a moment, but told them all, “I don’t know if you know this, but I got Alya that first interview with Ladybug.” Rose let out a soft noise of realization. “So she and I have…a professional relationship, I guess. So I know for a fact that Lila isn’t her ‘best friend’. And Jagged Stone doesn’t have a kitten, he has Fang-his crocodile.” She sighed. “I just…I can’t stand liars. Maybe I shouldn’t have been so harsh with her, but it just really bothers me. And then this.”
“I asked Prince Ali about the charity she said she worked on with him,” Rose said after a moment. “He said he didn’t know what I was talking about-Lila said it was very confidential, and that’s why he couldn’t say anything but…that didn’t make a lot of sense to me,” she admitted. “I’m sorry Marinette, I should have stood up for you today!”
“No,” Marinette said immediately. “No, I wouldn’t want you to do that. It’s better that she’s just focused on me.”
Ivan was not someone who spoke often, but when he did it made an impact. So when he told Marinette, “It’s not your responsibility to protect us-we care about you, and you deserve to be protected too,” she paused to let it sink in.
And then Marinette promptly burst into tears.

Can't Help Falling in Love
Playing up Paris’ reputation as the city of love for tourists was something Luka hadn’t expected to do in his lifetime. But as he played his violin under the Eiffel Tower, he soon realized it was a good gig to lean into during the holidays. Tourists loved to gather around, and it seemed to bring a spark in them. A sense of magic in their travels. It also gave him a few extra euros that he could use to give Christmas gifts to his favorite people.
Luka closed his eyes as the bow stick slid across the strings, moving from one song to another. When he opened them again, amongst the crowd, he saw his favorite face in the world. The beautiful features of the woman he loved, just in time for his last song. As he played a violin rendition of ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’, he watched her pink lips spread in a smile across her face. As if she knew he was secretly dedicating the song to her.
With every note he played, she slowly swayed to the rhythm, tightening the hold on her coat. Whether it was to imitate someone holding her or due to the cold, he wasn’t sure. But the way she closed her eyes made him think it was the first one.
As the song finished, he received a round of applause from the spectators left in the evening, and some approached the open violin case to throw several euro notes. After thanking them and announcing his departure, Luka started gathering his things.
“Hey, Rockstar,” the voice of Marinette spoke behind him.
“Hello, Melody,” he greeted, turning to give her a light kiss on the lips.
“Wanna walk home together?”
“Always,” he responded with a smile as he closed the instrument case and picked it up.
Together, they made their way away from the Eiffel Tower, in the direction of the Trocadéro. It was a slight detour on their way home, but Luka knew it was Marinette’s favorite place in Paris. As they walked through the gardens, he watched her from the corner of his eye, her hands rubbing together, as if attempting to fiddle her fingers through the mittens.
“Hey,” he said, grabbing one of her hands, “are you okay? Are you cold?”
“Oh, I’m f-fine,” she responded, in a tone that was not very convincing. He squeezed her hand, hoping it would reassure her, that she could talk to him whenever she felt ready. They stepped up the stairs and reached the plaza, emptier than usual. Most likely people were hiding from the low temperatures.
“Hey, Luka?” Marinette suddenly spoke.
“Hm?”
“I-I have a confession to make.”
Luka’s brows furrowed. “What is it?” he asked, his heart unsure whether to worry or not.
“I, um… I found the ring.”
He stopped on his tracks, Marinette immediately following suit. Her bluebell eyes were gazing away, in shame. Luka thought he had been careful in hiding it. Then again, he shouldn’t underestimate Marinette’s ability to figure out when there was something amiss. Something must have tipped her off. Or, like many other times, there was an accident that resulted in her finding out.
“Are you okay?” he asked, worried that she thought he wanted to rush things between them.
“W-Why are you asking me?” Marinette finally turned to him, her eyes wide. “Aren’t you upset I ruined the surprise?”
His head tilted. “Why would I be upset?” he questioned. “Aren’t you feeling like I’m moving too fast in buying a ring?”
“Luka, we’ve been together for over a year, and we’ve known each other for far longer,” she explained. “Why would I think us getting engaged at this stge is too fast for us?”
“I thought you said you weren’t ready.” He fully turned to her, wondering if he was hearing correctly.
“Well, no, because I hadn’t perfected my wedding dress, but I’m absolutely ready to be engaged.” Marinette instantly bit her mitten, like she hadn’t intended to let him on to that secret.
The smile that spread through Luka’s face was hard to hold back. This whole time he had thought she wasn’t ready in general. Yet it seemed he had misunderstood what she was saying. He couldn’t help but grab her around the waist and twirl her around, making Marinette let out an initial squawk, followed by giggles as they made several circles.
“Does that mean it’s a yes?” Luka asked, finally stopping and placing her back on the ground.
“Of course it is!” Marinette laughed.
“Wait!” he suddenly said, letting go of her. She gave him a look of confusion, but nevertheless, Luka carefully placed down the violin and took out the small box he had been carrying around for almost two months already. He heard her gasp as he dropped down to one knee, excited to finally say the words he had been wanting to say for so long.
“Oh my gosh, you’re doing this now?!” she yelped.
“Why not?” Luka breathed, still smiling widely. “You love this place, there’s few people, it’s snowing, and you look gorgeous. I can’t think of a more perfect moment than this one. Can I?”
Marinette made a giddy laugh as she nodded, her eyes already filling with tears of joy.
“Marinette—”
“Wait!” With rapid movements, she pulled on her mittens and stuffed them in her coat’s pocket. “Okay, I’m ready.”
Luka chuckled. “Marinette,” he started again, his tone quieter, “we’ve known each other for years. I have loved you for almost as long, but I know you’ve only loved me recently. I have been ready to ask you to spend the rest of your life with me for so long, but I didn’t want to pressure you. Even so, I have held onto hope that you would be ready someday, to share more than just a living space with me, but a lifetime.
“Now that I know where you stand,” Luka opened the box, “Marinette, my Melody, would you be willing to spend that lifetime with me?”
“YES!” Marinette practically yelled, tears of joy finally falling down.
Luka’s smile widened as he took the ring out of the box and delicately placed it on her finger. As soon as it was properly placed, Marinette grabbed his face and pulled him up to a kiss. He gladly returned it, rising to his feet for a better position to properly hold her in his arms.
“You were right,” she sighed contentedly against his lips. “This place and moment really were perfect.”
“I’m glad you think so,” he hummed. “Do you want to go home, or do you want to grab dinner to celebrate?”
“Dinner actually sounds nice.”
“Anything in particular you’re craving? My treat,” Luka announced.
“How about Italian?” Marinette suggested. “That restaurant by the park we always say we’re going to try out. I think this is the perfect moment for that.”
“As you wish,” he said softly, giving her a kiss on the forehead.
Gently, she laced her fingers with his as he took back the violin to continue their walk. The smile wouldn’t leave Luka’s face. And with the cold, he wondered if it was possible for it to remain stuck that way. As he rubbed a thumb against Marinette’s hand, he noticed something.
“Aren’t your hands cold?” he asked.
“I’m not hiding my new ring just yet,” Marinette responded with a skip in her step.
“Okay,” Luka laughed. “But please put on your mittens if it gets too cold.” She hummed to signal she heard him. Changing the subject, he added: “I’m sorry you didn’t get to finish your dress before getting engaged, though.”
“Don’t worry, I already did.”
Luka tilted his head, a lopsided grin forming on his lips again. “When did that happen? I thought you were still working on it.”
“After I found the ring,” she explained, watching him from beneath her lashes. “I felt very inspired and finished it in less than a week.”
“Wait,” his brows furrowed, “when did you find the ring?”
“About a month ago,” she said with a shrug, yet a mischievous smile curled her lips. “I wasn’t going to bring it up, but you were taking too long to ask me.”
A laugh blurted out of the newly engaged man. “You really are full of surprises, Ma-Ma-Marinette.”
“You know it, Mr. Therapist.”
Luka gave what felt like the tenth content sigh that evening. “I swear, every day I fall more and more in love with you.”
“And I promise you, you’re not the only one.”
With a content hum, Marinette wrapped her arms around one of Luka’s, but he decided to wrap an arm around her instead, allowing her to be as close as she wanted. Snow continued to fall as they made their way to the restaurant, yet Marinette hadn’t touched her mittens, not once.
As he looked at her pink face, he could stop thinking about what awaited them. He was already looking forward to start planning the rest of his life with the most amazing woman the universe had to offer.
