Inktober #8 - Stan, Detar and Caric (original characters) Markers, some pigment liner and gelly roll pen. ~photo version and character talk below~

Detar’s face was smudged, so I fixed that digitally in the scanned version. Also, instead of having every single marker I used on the photo, I decided to just put one of each brand instead.

These are my old Lufia OCs from 2001.  Stan is Maxim's descendant. Detar is Dekar's descendant and was a security guard at the casino before he was fired. He joins Stan’s journey since he has nothing better to do when he became jobless. He’s also Stan’s best friend.  Caric is a traveling merchant elf.

Long, long ago, Caric basically looked like a Artea recolor (based on his artwork - not his ingame sprite). And Detar used to look like a Dekar clone in modern clothes Detar’s name is a combination of “Dekar” and “Two” and I originally wanted to rename him when he was still a Dekar clone, but decided to leave his name as is after discovering  it was a variant of a German name which means "Warrior of the people”

Detar has definitely changed the most out of these three characters,.

Stan used to have long hair in 2001.

Caric hasn’t changed that much, other than getting his hair cut early on and having a new outfit in 2014..

Who is your favorite character who do you not write? 👀👀

Omg coming at me right with tough questions haha xD I have so many characters I love like from video games or anime/manga (lightning from ff13 or Selan from Lufia or Sailor Moon or Kamui from X) BUT I don’t write animated characters and never will. My other favorite character is Jon Snow but he got ruined so much in the last season that I lost all interest to ever write him. Also I love Harry Potter but I wouldn’t write his character either cause he doesn’t fit to the kind of content I like to write. I wrote Prue Halliwell from Charmed for a while cause I have so much respect and love for Shannen and Prue. I would say she’s one of my most loved characters that influenced me the most and Buffy also is very high on that list, but I think I wouldn’t write them anymore cause I just feel good with my messy man and that one very messy OC girl I have 😌

Having these scanned is probably supposed to give me easier access to doing some of these fully in a digital setting, and I have a bunch of them bookmarked for further elaboration. But Depression hit hard and I haven’t done any such thing with these.

Because I have nothing better to do, gonna write this fic based on the game my friends and I used to play as kids, as it’s a school story that was keeping me sane over the past two and a half years with everything going on at work.  Cliffnotes version...

1.  We had two childhood games...one was a crossover between Arcana and Lufia, one a Real World AU with mostly the same characters but a few more OCs and me having guest stars from other games from time to time.

2.  Even when we didn’t hang out, I created story ideas based on both concepts combined, with the events of Arcana happening in the Spring, both casts getting together and having a wild summer of fun, and then going to the school (which was changed to a school for warriors and mages...long before anime started with the school obsession).

3.  This concept slowly evolved over time into the Muse Universe.

It’s basically Muse Universe, but all the games happened 99% like their original selves instead of everyone growing up together at the school and doing something that vaguely resembles their games.  So...Muse Universe circa 1999/2000 which is before Breath of Fire Clans but after Pokemon.  However, certain things like more modern versions of the characters’ Pokemon Teams (as they didn’t have anything post-Gen 2 until I updated more than Lufia and Rutee in like Kalos or Alola) and we actually know Rutee and Stahn have a canonical son who is born in a canonical year and thus that is taken into account on the ToD side of this odd crossover of stupidity.  Meaning, the concept is like it was back then but everything about said concept is evolved to fit the times.

Aqu and Co. Fundraiser: Moar Cats

I’ve been wanting to do another of these for a while, but had to deal with grad school and finishing the dissertation and cleaning up the mess grad school made of the rest of my life. But now life has calmed down enough that I think I can do this.

The Charities

There are two choices, this round:

-Challenger’s House. A no-kill cat shelter in Toney, Alabama. It’s where I got Lufia, the cutest little biscuit ever, for which I am eternally grateful. Yay, cats.

-Western Illinois Animal Rescue. A volunteer-operated no-kill shelter in Monmouth, IL. They have cats, too. And also dogs. One of the volunteers is a college friend of mine, and she assures me that they put their money in the right place.

What do you get?

You get a 6x9 picture of a character, person or animal of your choice. I do both OC’s and fanart, as well as manga-style portraits of actual people, and pictures of pets. For people, it’ll probably be from the waist up or the shoulders up, depending on what fits. For animals, it depends on the pose.

$5 gets you a custom Harlock the Cat cosplay pic, with a badge version to wear on your lanyard at your next con.

$15 gets you a spiffy ink drawing

$30 gets you a suuuuper-spiffy watercolor pic

What do you do?

Make a donation directly to one of the charities above (or if you want to split it between the two, that’s fine, too). Screenshot your confirmation screen or email (blur out credit card numbers and the like).

Send the screenshot to aqutalion@gmail.com, and tell me what you want drawn and where to send the finished piece. If it’s an OC, I’ll need either a reference pic or a description. If it’s a portrait, I’ll need a photo of the actual person/animal to work from.

I’ll draw the piccy and send it to you! You get art, some kitties gets food, and I get to use up some of the art supply stash so I don’t have to drag it cross-country when I move, which should have happened a year ago, but that’s neither here nor there. Win, win, win!

I think Supernatural was the last one I’ve seen? Haven’t seen the latest season yet though.

what’s your honest opinion about your muse? I adore her. She is my most favourite champ (with Vlad being a close second, sorry blood babe~) I love her kit, and look, her attitude. Especially in the new lore, like OMG yes! Riot did not fuck up on that imo. I think she should loosen up sometimes, but what can you do when all you do is hunt demons and devils and evil mages and warlocks? You’re bound to be a cynical grumpy bat, that way~ But I love her nonetheless~

would you date your muse? I would I think. In her core essence, she does not differ that much from myself, albeit being more grumpy and possibly more prone to hostility. But I can relate to her in a lot of ways. If given the chance, we might get along fine. Aesthetics-wise, she speaks to me A LOT as well.

what are your favorite kinds of threads? I’m a sucker for angst. Tormenting my muse for development is what I live for. Her canon lore is already brimming with it and gives way for so many interpretations for any path that follows. I love plotting and developing down that path~

are you a selective roleplayer? Not at all. I am open to interact with just about anyone. As long as people do not break my personal rules and make the experience horrid, I do not mind anyone~

do you have a favorite muse (if you have more than one)? I have a few muses, some active and some in hibernation; Vayne, Vladimir, Kalista, Emperor Mateus, Axel, my ocs Scarlet, Ralaxcelm, Selena, Dhaos and a few more. But I think my favourite so far, and most developed, is Vayne~

what made you decide to join the fandom? My sister, @compulsivevirtuoso, convinced and helped me in joining the fandom with this blog, after I was active in the Final Fantasy fandom with a Emperor Mateus blog of Final Fantasy II.

do you see yourself staying with the fandom for a long time? I’ve been in the fandom, roleplay-wise, for almost 3 years, and don’t see myself leaving any time soon. So yeah, I think I’ll stay for a while longer. Sorry boys, not getting rid of me~

A similar answer to one of Blake’s - I love OCs. Sonic, Pokemon, Zim, Zelda, Megaman, Original Content, fandoms I didn’t list, fandoms I don’t actually know? I love them. I’m pretty much always ready to hear about your OCs!

My favorite foods are sushi (specifically tuna hand roll and salmon nigiri, and I also really like spicy tuna roll and unagi), hot wings, chili dogs, and carnitas.

 I LOVE SPACE. If it’s a clear night I always have to pause and look a moment and I’d LOVE to visit one of those areas with insane clear skies... I’ve always lived in suburbs or cities so I’ve never seen a proper night sky in person....

Aside from my large collection of anime/cartoon/game music, my favorite genre is classic rock! Especially Guns’n’Roses, Elton John, Billy Joel, Queen, Aerosmith, Joan Jett, and ACDC.

I obviously love Sonic, Pokemon, and Zelda a lot but my actual favorite game series is Lufia (I was actually given a PS1 for Christmas one year because the third Lufia game had been announced for it... it got canceled though T_T)

What ship do you wish you could write more for?

Oh… all of them? 😅 no seriously I just wish I could write more in general since I’m lacking the muse atm to do anything creative. But I love all my ships and would love to write more for all of them. When it comes to rick in particular I wish for more male partners but I’m very picky with them 👀

Favorite themes to write?

Definitely hurt/comfort stuff. All the drama and apocalyptic scenarios. Enemies to lovers, secret relationships, forbidden love… everything about that with a lot of personal drama from both characters. I recently started writing supernatural stuff with my Tommy which I never did before and I really love that but in my opinion it just fits best to his character and wouldn’t fit much to Rick or negan.

Any ships you won’t write?

There are a lot of ships I don’t write cause I’m very picky about my partners and their characters. But I’m also less picky than I thought cause at the beginning I always thought I only want to write with canon characters and ships I had in mind, but then I realized that well developed OCs are something I enjoy even more than just a shallow canon character who is just not well written. So through that I learnt to care less about the faces and fall in love with characters just because I love the mun behind it and their story. But there are still some faceclaims or characters I wouldn’t write with, but that’s just a personal taste thing (and lack of time).

Who is your favorite character who you do not write?

Well my favorite character ever ever is Selan from the SNES game Lufia. I used to write a fanfic with her as I was around 14?! But I would never roleplay her since she is a video game character and I don’t write (with) anime/comic/video game/animated characters anymore. Also I love Lightning from FF13 but same goes for her. And of course Sailor Moon, same reason 🤷🏼‍♀️

Do you get inspiration from music? Images? Other?

It always depends. Sometimes I watch a series/movie or play a video game that inspires me to certain stories. Sometimes it’s reading my partners stories which inspires me. Sometimes it’s a fan art I see online or hear a certain song that gives me a scene immediately. But I think what inspires me most are series/movies/videos cause I’m a very visual person (that’s why I also prefer to write threads with gifs even if that’s not like a must I just like it for myself) and sometimes I just listen to music on purpose to imagine some scenes better so these two things are most important. But if I have a low creativity phase nothing inspires me no matter how hard I try.
