Prompt arrival was top priority on Aslik's list for the party, namely because Ahlu had been very adamant about arriving on time just as well, which had given Aslik the excuse to ignore his natural desire to be 'fashionably late'. With how often they reminded him that he could easily be the center of attention with his sparkling, flawless maroon suit and black fur collar, he felt it necessary to be there as long as possible, and therefore arrive right on time... Thank goodness for his Captain. Upon their arrival, Ahlu felt the need to come across less steely the usual. Something about the atmosphere told them they needed to appear somewhat approachable, otherwise, they may not fit in just right. They'd keep some of their cold demeanor, but they also wouldn't be hesitant to greet anyone with a pleasant, graceful, refined smile and bow, which they had rehearsed hundreds upon hundreds of times in their youth... And, well, it would show. But when Aslik didn't hesitate even in the slightest to approach the Steevonzons directly without even checking with his Captain for advice, Ahlu rushed over to be at his side, prepared to do any kind of damage control the moment he opened his big mouth. "Oh, my goodness, hello, hello! Its a delight to see the lot of you!" Aslik said in a voice that Ahlu hated hearing. It was so... fake. At least to them, even if only because they knew better.

Not many guests had arrived just yet, and the Steevenzons had not yet split apart from each other. Albert and Howard were talking when suddenly none other than Ludwig Von Aslik showed up, interrupting their conversation. The two sirs pretended not to hear the obnoxious Glukkon, but Madam Shelley, after pouring herself a glass of wine, grinned and scampered up to him, her heels clacking loudly on the floor. “Ohh hello! You must be Ludwig! You’re even more, ehh… handsome? In person!” She greeted. Expensive jewels were worn on her head to hide the bandages underneath.

Hi, and thanks for sharing your thoughts! At first I thought Ludwig Von Aslik was such a stunning and mesmerizing Glukkon, but I think if he had to experience what Molluck is going through, he wouldn't be remotely as strong and smart as him. So, I think Aslik is really the Glukkon who is "nothing without his suit". I found brilliant that in Soulstorm it's not only the hero who has to face hardships, but the villain has to go through a lot too, and yes, this can also help us with our own lives!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts too! I can understand your first impression of Aslik. He reminds me of one certain type of old man I can barely explain but he doesn't seem really smart for me and I bet the same thing as you. I wonder if he has achieved his position with, well, ass-licking. I really find it interesting that Molluck seems to hate especially Aslik and calls him idiot. It would be nice to know more about the relationships between the Gluks we see in Soulstorm.

Yeah, the average Glukkon is nothing without his suit but it is also an important status symbol among them. If you don't have a fine suit, you are nothing anyway. But Molluck is different. We haven't really seen Glukkons using their hands to anything but walking but I bet that Molluck is stronger than an average Glukkon, both mentally and physically.

I really like that the Glukkons are good bad guys since they don't think that they are evil. I think that it also gives a nice realism to the story among that fact you said, both Molluck and Abe struggle. I personally can barely see Molluck as a villain. I feel like the way Molluck has achieved his position is a part of the Glukkon society too since if you fail, you are thrown under the buss. Glukkon society is pretty brutal but so is life too. I find it very important that Molluck called his investors creepy. That's one reason why I also see him as a nice Gluk regardless. He is just trying to survive and gain the moolah for his luxurious life at any cost. Yeah, the fact that I identify with Molluck and can understand him affects significantly to the way I see him. I’m not trying to justify his actions but trying to understand him since he is still a Glukkon and he can’t really escape his society.

I don’t wonder it at all if Oddworld has improved someone’s life significantly.

Listen, I know this is gonna sound dumb, but when I first got into Oddworld (around learly 2017) I thought the Glukkons didn’t have first names and just had a single weird alien names like Dripik, Phleg, Aslik etc. You know, because they’re weird capitalist octopus men aliens and their culture was just like that, you know?!

But no. Apparently, the Glukkons have been referring to each other on a last name basis this whole entire time!! I mean, sure we know Aslik’s (or at least the Soulstorm versions) first name is Ludwig, which is cool I guess, but what about the other Glukkons?! What the hell is Molluck’s first name!?

I need answers, damn it!!

I find it a bit interesting when Baron/Mr. Morguer that when his Security Chief Slig mentioned the conspire theory of the uprising that his eyes widen at that. Unlike the Brewmaster and Ludwig Von Aslik/Aslik it did seem that he may have been believed it, not a lot but maybe consider it to be a thing.

Anybody else remember EGX 2017 when the new designs for the Glukkons in Soulstorm were first shown? And some people noticed how androgynous/feminine the design for Glukkon 1 aka Ludwig Von Aslik was? And so everyone started speculating they were either a queen Glukkon or a female presenting worker? To the point where Oddworld Inhabitants themselves clarified on Facebook that this Glukkon was, indeed, male?

...Because I think about that a lot.
