2021!Kung Lao x Reader x 2021!Liu Kang Headcanons
Liu and Lao are super protective over you. They know that being in a relationship with two of Earthrealm's champions makes you a target for attack, so they watch over you, ready to defend if necessary.
We all know Kung Lao is a proud man. Proud of his abilities, proud of his heritage. This pride extends to you and Liu. He's proud to be with you both and likes to show you both off when he can.
Liu Kang is a bit of a mother hen. He always makes sure the people he cares about are well fed, drinking enough, getting enough sleep, etc. He always wants to provide for you and Lao.
Unfortunately this means he often puts others needs before his own. It's up to you and Lao to make sure he is also taken care of! You're both used to carrying around snacks with you and giving them to Liu when he needs them. You also bring jugs of water to sparring matches for them both. He gets so flustered when you do this, it makes him love you all the more.
You and Lao cuddling into Liu on cold nights because this man burns like a damn furnace due to his arcana. He likes that his arcana can be useful to those he loves.
Speaking of arcana, they both love showing off to you, but in very different ways. Lao will use his hat to teleport right next to you and scares the shit out of you. Liu is much more gentle and likes to make different shapes with his fire to show you. He will also use his fire to keeps things warm for you, like your tea cup, your bowl of food or your hand.
Lao is more likely to be open to PDA with you. He's never afraid to put his arm around your shoulders or your waist. He likes to let everyone know who you belong with.
Liu is more subtle. He prefers to keep physical affections private, though he doesn't mind holding hands or a quick kiss to your forehead as he walks past you.
Liu loves to share meditation time with you. Even if you don't meditate with him, he loves if you just sit with him while he does, maybe reading or some other quiet activity.
Lao is the king of power naps. This man can nap anywhere, anytime. Loves to just pull you aside so you can take a quick nap with him. He claims he feels more refreshed when he holds you while napping. He tries to convince Liu to join you both, but Liu is too duty bound to do so.
I feel like being in a relationship with both Liu Kang and Kung Lao is the closest thing to heaven I can think of. They both love you and each other very much.

Noble OCs - Volo
More OCs from one of my four original noble clans, the Volo! They are the Clan of the Healers and their current Clan Leader is Zephyrus Volo, whose heir is his daughter Azurine Volo. Their clan’s soul weapon is crystal ball Octavio.
For complete info please check out the link below:
(Just a quick note, everyone is a noble here. There are no hybrids. In my headcanons “pureblood” and “non-pureblood” are just terms that nobles use with each other to broadly describe how affiliated someone is with their own clan. And I say “broadly” because there is much more to it and I think it deserves a post of its own. For now “pureblood” can be seen as a “strong enough and qualified to inherit the clan’s soul weapon and become Clan Leader” and “non-pureblood” as “an ordinary clan member” kind of thing. And being either has little to do with lineage and more of just the individual itself. Again, definitely posting more on that in the future)
Straight to the characters.
Hyacinthus Volo: Non-pureblood. Father/soul fragment donor of Ludis Mergas, husband/lover/friend (?) of Valentina Mergas. Alive in the present day, belongs to the Previous Lord’s generation.
Hyacinthus used to work under Zephyrus’ predecessor, the previous Volo Clan Leader, as one of the many Volo antidote researchers. He got kicked out eventually because he kept messing things up. He did things like throwing out his colleagues’ work-in-progress vials and potions because he thought they were trash, forgetting to do his part thus causing a failed experiment and indirectly forcing everyone back to square one, accidentally knocking over precious ingredients, setting the old records on fire… etc. Hyacinthus got a job as a scribe instead because that was the only thing they could count on him for. Despite his occasional sloppiness and forgetfulness, his fellow researchers couldn’t bring themselves to be annoyed with him for too long because he is a cheerful and amiable man. Outside of work, he is a great friend. His presence alone is enough to lighten gloomy moods and his friends sometimes compare him to a clear blue sky on a beautiful sunny day. Hyacinthus is neither extrovert nor introvert, instead something in between. He doesn’t need to socialize on a regular basis, but he never declines invitations. He’s “that” person nobles with little to no friends would always invite to their parties and events because they can count on him to show up. As a result, Hyacinthus is always busy. Want a hiking buddy? Will be there for ya. Don’t have a dancing partner? Sure can rearrange my plans. Just want someone to vent to? Will give plenty of hugs too. For this reason, Hyacinthus has a powerful network of friends who are more than willing to help him because the effort is mutual. Mostly weirdo friends because he’s one of the only people who would accept them for who they are, but normal friends too. He gets mountains of gifts piled at his doorstep and they still keep coming in. Hyacinthus is humble and tells his friends that they don’t need to give him anything, but they insist on showing their appreciation for him.
Hyacinthus’ hobby is button making. Buttons for clothes, buttons for toys, buttons for collection… just lots of buttons. He carves them from coconut shells, fruit pits, wood, and other common materials. He makes a button whenever there is a special occasion to keep for himself or to give away as a gift. Hyacinthus makes one for his son Ludis’ birthday every year and Ludis has a treasure box full of them. Each one of them has a unique design, and Hyacinthus continues this tradition for his grandchildren.
No one really knows what his exact relationship with Valentina is. They seem to be more than friends but there is no solid answer. Valentina doesn’t answer when questioned and Hyacinthus just says “guess”. Well, that’s going to remain a mystery for now. Hyacinthus misses Valentina very much since the day she entered eternal sleep with the Previous Lord. He too makes a button for her every year on the day they said their final goodbyes to each other, which is the day she died.
Ludis gets the blueish tint in his grey hair from Hyacinthus.
Rurik Volo: Pureblood. Uncle of Zephyrus Volo, father of Malati Volo. Alive in the present day, belongs to Gejutel’s generation.
Rurik was supposed the be the next Volo Clan Leader after his predecessor and mother as her then-only child, but he detested the traditional Volo self-poisoning antidote-researching training regimen so much that his mother had no choice but to have another child because clearly he was not the one. The training regimen is absolutely mandatory and has been the tradition since the Volo Clan came into existence, and rejecting it means forfeiting your right to succeed the clan as the heir. So be it. The position of Clan Leader eventually went to Rurik’s younger sister, who is the mother of Zephyrus. Rurik didn’t want to work alongside ordinary clan members as a researcher either, and in the end his mother couldn’t find a job for him within the clan and he became unemployed. During his youth, Rurik couch surfed a lot and his friends all thought he got disowned or something, but he actually left home on his own accord because he was too ashamed to face his mother and family for failing to fulfill his destiny. He just couldn’t do it. The pain and self-harm is too much for him. He can’t even comprehend how his mother and all of the previous Clan Leaders were able to put themselves through such torture. Rurik’s little sister seems to be willing to do it, and while he is proud of her determination, he also feels sorry for her because he is the reason why she was born. As his replacement, because he chose to escape from his duty. She wouldn’t have needed to do this to herself if he had more courage. For this reason, Rurik can’t seem to look at her in the eye either. He ends up avoiding his mother, sister, and clan members, and became a basement dweller who rotated between the homes of his friends. Fortunately, as an extrovert, he had many friends and they were happy to host their troubled buddy. Rurik eventually finds his passion in music composition. He settles down in a place of his own, far away from the Volo’s main residence because he still can’t bring himself to face his family. In the present day, Rurik writes music for Lukedonia. His work all sound sad, for some reason. Stunning and graceful, but sprinkled with melancholy.
Rurik is a decent fighter and has an extensive knowledge of buff and debuff spells. Despite leaving home at a young age, he worked very hard and secretly taught himself how to use magic as a Volo because he didn’t want to ask anyone for help as he was too embarrassed to do so. He doesn’t even know how impressive this is and continues to think of himself as a loser.
At some point, Rurik had his daughter Malati with an unnamed noble, presumably one of his friends who hosted him during his couch surfing days.
Aeron Volo: Non-pureblood. Alive in the present day, belongs to Raskreia’s generation. No one really likes Aeron. He’s full of negativity and brings that unpleasantness with him wherever he goes. His shortcomings are always the fault of others, and his life is miserable because the world is against him. Aeron has a normal family and his parents did everything they could for him, but he turned out like this anyway. Aeron ends up offending almost everyone around him and he has no friends. He never fulfills the promises he makes, he invalidates people’s achievements, and even goes as far as to say that his Clan Leader Zephyrus’ daughter and heir Azurine doesn’t deserve to become the next Volo Clan Leader just because she “ingests poison” and “makes cuts on her arms”. Anyone can do that. This would enrage his fellow clan members and if Aeron is lucky, he gets an intense scolding. If he is unlucky, he gets a violent beating. Only after they dare him take the poison Azurine takes on a regular basis does he learn that she is doing something incredibly selfless for the greater good of all nobles. Aeron almost dies, and drops to the floor screaming and writhing in pain until they give him the antidote. You thought that was bad enough? That’s not even a third of Azurine’s daily dose. And the antidote to this poison only exists because she put herself through this pain in order to analyze what it does to the body to come up with countermeasures. Aeron finally realizes how much of a fool he was. He’s still unpleasant at times, but he has been humbled and no longer speaks like that about people, especially his future Clan Leader. Aeron’s issues aren’t completely gone yet, but at least he doesn’t invalidate people’s achievements anymore. He even starts to develop a sense of admiration for Azurine. Eventually, with hard work, Aeron discovers that he has some talent for debuff spells. Turns out his nastiness was rooted in his insecurities all along, and hey, he’s not completely useless either.
Aeron is currently training to become a knight, and hopes to become strong so he can serve his future Clan Leader, the Lord, and Lukedonia well.
Esther Volo: Non-pureblood. Entered eternal sleep, belonged to Lagus’ generation. Esther was an eccentric woman. She had a conspicuous sharp-pitched giggle and an unusual obsession with scissors and cutting things up. Her clothes, the curtains, the books on the shelves, the flowers on the hillside… even herself. More like she found pleasure in ruining things and then returning them to their original state like nothing had ever happened. This just felt so romantic to Esther and she never had any other hobby. She cooed and baby talked to things as she cut them up. The vibrations that traveled from the scissors blades to her hands with each and every snip excited her more than anything else. The more the material resisted, the more ecstatic she became. Eventually Esther moved onto cutting off pieces of her own face, fingers, and even legs. Slicing her own cheeks off was just as fun as feeling her femur split into two. Her delicate, soft fingers were nice as additional decorations to the flowers in her vase. Gives it an extra pop of color. And that’s what being a Volo meant to her. She’d just use healing spells on herself. Rinse and repeat. With inanimate objects, she used basic restoration spells. The nobles were aware of Esther’s obsession and most stayed away from her, as they were scared and suspected that she would cut them up too. Those were just assumptions, of course, because Esther never messed with other people or their belongings. She only experimented on her own possessions and body. Reassuring to hear, but doesn’t make it any less creepy.
If Esther considered someone as her friend, she would invite them to her home and show them her massive scissors collection hanging on the wall, arranged by size from small to big. Those who didn’t run away became her best friends.
Esther wore poofy floor-length dresses throughout her lifetime and hid all sorts of scissors under layers of lace. Sometimes the nobles could hear the scissors clack against one another as she walked. She eventually entered eternal sleep because she had already cut up everything she could find in the world and had nothing exciting to look forward to anymore.
Malati Volo: Pureblood. Daughter of Rurik Volo, and cousin of Zephyrus Volo. Alive in the present day, belongs to the Previous Lord’s generation.
Malati is confident and imaginative. As a child, she always went around asking “why?” to every question she could think of. The adults thought she was just another curious child, but in no time it became apparent that she was dead serious about it. Malati didn’t want to live at home with her less-than-confident father Rurik who somehow always avoided her questions, and sometime during her teenage years, she moved to Titus Paradiso’s library tower Minerva and has lived there ever since. Malati misses her father, but knows better than to hold back her true potential to keep him company… plus, he seems more interested in his music anyway. He wouldn’t miss her, it’s okay. Or so she thought, because she was a bit saddened when he didn’t really have a reaction when she announced that she was going to move out. Well, she’s better off chasing her dreams than staying at home with such a mood killer. In a way, Professor Titus felt more like a father figure to Malati, as he would always be brimming with enthusiasm whenever the two of them talked about newest discoveries. Titus and Malati have a close relationship, and when the former’s twins Anabella and Anastasia are born sometime in the future, Malati becomes family to them. The twins call her “Auntie”.
Malati’s current goal is to figure out exactly how two soul fragments merge together to create a new soul, which is the nobles’ way of having children. The old records don’t offer any clear explanation either. The nobles only know that it happens, not how. The mechanism behind it remains a mystery to this day. Malati wants to get her hands on a physical soul fragment so she can dissect it or something, if that is even possible at all. Maybe she’ll eventually discover a way for nobles to have children through soul fragments without having their lifespans reduced so parents can spend more time with their children. Perhaps it is ambitious, but Malati is hopeful.
Eventually, Malati and her father Rurik reconcile with each other and it is revealed that the latter chose not to respond to his daughter’s questions because she was a brilliant child, and he was afraid that he would drag her down because he didn’t have the confidence to match her excellence. Rurik thought that Malati would be disappointed in him like the rest of his family since he was the failed heir. The two of them talk out their misunderstandings and share a tearful moment. Rurik asks Malati if she wants to move back home, which would become an offer she rejects gently because Minerva is her home now. Understandable for both father and daughter, so they exchange letters to keep in touch. Rurik sends Malati his newest sheet music, and she shares with him her research progress on various topics. While they don’t completely understand what each other is talking about, their exchanges are filled with affection.
Malati is currently working to find an antidote to reverse lifespan loss for nobles who had children.
Malati’s partner is a Paradiso scholar.
Thank you for reading and stay tuned for future posts!

headcanons below the cut
Izuku Midoriya
Rating: If this were a game he’d be the equivalent of the Traveller, so neither a 4* nor 5*
Constellation: Spei Lepus
Weapon Type: Claymore
Weapon/s: Waster Greatsword (prev.), Skyrider Greatsword
Age: 16
Nation: Mondstadt
Vision: One for All Vision
Notes:
Born to a merchant, Hisashi, and Inko, who takes care of the family farm
Izuku was born in Wildewind, a tiny village on the tip of Cape Oath
It had once been an adventurer hotspot thanks to its views over the Falcon Coast, but generations ago Dadaupa Gorge became infested with Hilichurls, making the path to the village extremely dangerous
By the time Izuku was born Wildewind had been reduced to a tiny, poor, isolated village
Hisashi was killed by monsters on the road to Mondstadt when Izuku was a toddler
The broach he uses to keep his scarf attached is the last thing he has of his Father’s
Inko, shaken by Hisashi’s death, always discouraged Izuku from ever leaving Wildewind
Izuku heard stories of All Might, the previous Anemo Archon and a famous hero in Teyvat from reading books of his adventures
He was determined to be an Adventurer, to Inko’s distress
He was great friends with Katsuki, a neighbour who shared his love of All Might
When Katsuki got a vision and Izuku didn’t, Izuku was initially very discouraged, feeling as though he’d never become an adventurer
He and Katsuki drifted apart as Katsuki started training, and began looking down on Izuku
Eventually, when he was around thirteen, Izuku happened to be in the storage shed and saw an ancient claymore
Drawn to it, he began training even without a vision, and when he saw him Katsuki decided that since nobody else knew how to handle a weapon they’d train together
They aren’t exactly friends, but it’s a tiny village and they only have each other to discuss adventuring and fighting-related matters, so they sort of get along
Every year the Adventurers Guild holds trials to accept young members, with the entrance age being fifteen
The trials take place after the Ludi Harpastum in February, and thanks to a bad winter and Inko getting ill for a while, they can’t attend until they’re both sixteen
They take only the supplies for their journey, and Izuku also brings his father’s broach and the scarf Inko made for him
The path is perilous, since they have to avoid Dadaupa Gorge and pass close to Dragonspine, but they eventually make it to ‘safe’ Windrise, only to be ambushed
Katsuki is knocked out and Izuku rushes in to save him, only for his ancient claymore to be broken
They’re saved by All Might, who is impressed by Izuku’s bravery and names him his apprentice, handing down the OFA vision
He buys Izuku a new claymore, and Izuku scrapes by in the trials despite the instructor – Aizawa’s – reluctance
To use the OFA vision, Izuku has to gain the acceptance of each archon to use their element
All Might suggests anemo first, as the Anemo Archon – the Thirteenth Anemo Archon, Anan – will be paying a visit to the Adventurer Class to assess their progress in a few months’ time, so he can ask her then
Katsuki Bakugou
Rating: 5*
Constellation: Leo Rugiens
Weapon Type: Catalyst
Weapon/s: Apprentice’s Notes (prev.), Blackcliff Agate
Age: 16
Nation: Mondstadt
Vision: Pyro
Notes:
Katsuki was born in Wildewind and grew up with Izuku
Mitsuki had been a Knight of Favonius in her youth, but was injured and ended up losing a leg on a mission to bring medical supplies to Wildewind
She had to stay behind when the others left to heal, and ended up never leaving when she fell in love with Masaru, who was born there
Katsuki is both the first vision holder to live in Wildewind in four generations, and the son of the town’s hero, so he felt a lot of pressure
He gained his vision when he was four, when he and Izuku snuck just outside the village to pick berries
A small electro slime was about to sneak up on Izuku when Katsuki leapt in – luckily he only got mildly electrocuted before he and Izuku were able to flee
Katsuki swore he had picked a fight with the slime, not wanting to admit that he was worried for Izuku
When he got his vision, Katsuki became the darling of the village
He soon became frustrated with Izuku as he began training
He was irritated when Izuku gave up on being an adventurer, but didn’t know how to apologise later on when Izuku actually did begin training
In the end he didn’t, just walked up and demanded to spar
Katsuki puts a lot of pressure on himself to be the best, and struggles to accept failure
Although he breezes through the adventurer trials, he obsesses over any slight failures
He’s also determined to go it alone, and doesn’t make any attempt to bond with the initial adventurer class
As time goes on he starts to slowly make friends and learn to work with others
He designed his uniform with help from his parents – Masaru was the village tailor, and Mitsuki had taken up the craft when she’d moved to Wildewind
It’s largely showy, but the blanket around his waist was made by both of his parents – Mondstadt can get very cold, so it’s an emergency blanket as well as being thick enough to be used to as a shade to block the sun in hot climates
#i promise i tried not to ramble too much#im trying to keep away from the plot of the au and stick to mainly backstory stuff yknow#the plot can be its own post or several posts lmaooo#genshin au#midoriya izuku#bakugou katsuki#mha#bnha#my hero academia#my art#class 1a

I don't have a good understanding of anything about political systems, but I also wondered how Mondstadt actually works...
I think my headcanons are very likely to be invalidated, but I'll give it a try anyway...
I headcanon Mondstadt as a fairly small nation, and that it allows it to not go too deep into political governments. I imagined it as a bit different from the other nations because of the way Jean talks about it at the very beginning, when we are introduced to the Fatui. Jean explains that Mondstadt and Snezhnaya are considered equal in status and she sounds... a bit defensive? She says "Mondstadt is independent, and does not belong to any other nation. In fact, despite being referred to as a city, Mondstadt is a nation", which led me to think of Mondstadt as a nation not bigger than a city, but as independent as the other nations. ("big" is more population wise. Mondstadt is vast, but most of it is just plains and forests or a deadly mountain)
And I think it really suits all the Mondstadt themes. I imagine Mondstadt as a nation of hunters and shepherds who just want to keep doing their thing unbothered by other nations. They're a bit like the Teyvat version of the Indomitable Village.
A lot of my headcanons about Mondstadt's government lies on this idea of a very small nation... which doesn't work well with the future introduction of Dornman Port D: I'm very scared it's going to destroy all my headcanons because before I saw it mentioned, I wouldn't have thought Mondstadt would have a harbor. A harbor is big. Bigger than I thought Mondstadt would be... Also it kind of divides the nation in two, because the (Acting) Grandmaster doesn't seem to really go there themself. It looks like it's more the Reconnaissance Company's job, but if you need to have people specially assigned to go there, then you're not a small nation who doesn't need a solid political system anymore...
I definitely don't think Mondstadt is a democracy though because... how could it be? It looks like most of the power belongs to the Ordo, divided into the Knights and the Church, and that who is in charge of these organizations is left to themselves to decide. It looks like Jean was named mostly by Varka himself to be the Acting Grandmaster. We don't really know but... I don't know, I feel like every time her rank is talked about, it's really just Varka deeming her to be good at her job and deciding she would be the next one in charge. Or when it's mentioned that Lisa could have been made captain... It's really "someone thought she would be a good captain, but someone else said no, so they organized a fight to test her, but then she said no herself, so she's a librarian now and someone else is captain". It's somewhat informal, even. And it's really kept within the Knights. (There's even less information for the Cathedral)
The Community Representative is barely mentioned once, and honestly, I had completely forgotten about it... I guess the Ordo has to stay in touch with the population, so the Community Representative could have that role, but they don't seem to hold actual power. Or maybe they have a temporary role for Ludi Harpastum... There is so little information about it. But I do like the idea of it being a symbolic reminder of the past rebellions that could happen again if must be.
I think it is very important for the Ordo to stay in touch with the people of Mondstadt, precisely because it's not a democracy. And I think things can work because Mondstadt is not a big nation. Mondstadt is closer to being a big family or clan than the other nations. Maybe it's not a democracy, but also, it's not like in Liyue where if you want to talk to Ningguang, it's an entire ordeal, you have to ask for an appointment, you have to be lead to the Jade Chamber because it's inaccessible if you're not invited, and Ningguang will make you understand that you need to be quick because she doesn't have time for this. It's totally different in Mondstadt. If you want to see the leader of the nation... It looks like you can just walk there and knock, you're just two doors away from Jean at all times. Sure, there are guards at the headquarter door but... do they stop people? It's also the same path if you just want to go to the library and read a book so... Also you could just spot a knight or the Acting Grand Master herself in the street and ask them anything... That's how the leaders in Mondstadt are. They're not inaccessible like Ningguang and her Jade Chamber. Jean is your leader, but she's also your neighbor.
In short, I think the power in Mondstadt isn't evenly distributed at all, but it still works because the people who have the power aren't disconnected from the population.
Aaaand... I love that the city of freedom isn't even a democracy.
I agree that it looks more like a theocracy, but I'm not knowledgeable enough about it to confidently call it that x) But a theocracy looks very fitting. Long ago, Barbatos said "go, my children. Be free..." and they've been trying to abide by it ever since. Their god gave them this freedom and they need to take care of it. A leader is deemed worthy if they do follow this one rule to preserve freedom.
Mostly, I love seeing Mondstadt as a slippery slope. Their only rule is "freedom", so we're this close to either anarchy or the creation of too many restrictions that were meant to protect it, all the time. If there are no rules, it's just chaos and nothing is protected, people can't thrive as a nation. But too many rules and it could become an aristocracy in which laws benefit only a few again, or a new Decarabian era with people trapped in their own city. Mondstadt's history is sprinkled with rebellions, they're constantly trying to find an equilibrium. Mondstadters are rebels by nature and it's basically their number one way of preserving their freedom. Trying to maintain it, failing, rebelling and starting again. A slippery slope.
Mondstadt is free as long as the leaders and the rules have the good of its people as their ultimate goal.
And that's why the Gunnhildrs are so law abiding and strict in their upbringing. "For Mondstadt, as always" requires tremendous care and caution and self discipline and an important sense of duty. Someone needs to make sure Barbatos' gift of freedom is passed on and it's no easy task, it requires a lot of selflessness and understanding. There is no strict and certain power to protect it, it's left to its people and the good will of its leaders, but it has already been proven multiple times that it's a very fragile balance.
That's why Eroch's treason and rooting out his comrades was such an important moment in Jean's life. Because having traitors among the knights is strictly intolerable and very dangerous considering Mondstadt's absence of strong political organization. If you want to protect Mondstadt's freedom, you cannot agree to even small slip-ups because Mondstadt will slip. It is constantly slipping and being put back on track. There is no other shield than being dutiful.
(I won't go on about it for too long here because it's already long and I'm actually s l o w l y trying to write a fic about it, but I think the way Jean handled the situation compared to the way Diluc handled the situation is very very important to Jean's characterization and to Mondstadt and its themes as a whole. It's partly headcanons because we don't know much about Jean's side of this story but I think Jean had a very... by the book approach, compared to Diluc who got disappointed by the Knights and left things as they were, and travelled to seek vengeance through violence and anger... And I think it's very important that Jean chose to work to carefully remove every traitor and make sure this would never happen again...)
Mondstadt is the city of freedom, but it means that it's also the city of duty, and there is a constant tension between the two. The Knights were created specifically to bear this duty and protect freedom. They are supposed to prioritize duty above all else. Do they? No, a lot of them are at the tavern as we speak, because they like to enjoy their freedom. But a lot of them are working overtime so things stay balanced. For now.
Also I think it's quite interesting that even after the rebellion against the aristocracy, the Ragnvindr are still thriving.
It is said that they sided with the people against the aristocracy but... Aren't they still aristocrats? They're so much wealthier than everybody else, they have a mansion and have an undefeatable monopoly on wine production which is the most important economic resource of the nation. It doesn't look like they yielded much. I guess they're not aristocrats because they don't hold commanding power but... They really look like an aristocratic family, yet nobody seems too bothered by it. The Ragnvindr Family seems to be well liked, actually. They look like the rich family at the center of all the gossips but not like the rich enemies.
But I think it's acceptable for the same reasons as accepting leaders who weren't elected. Because they also have Mondstadt's well being in mind and aren't disconnected with the population. I'm not sure if it's canon or if it's a headcanon, because I think I read it somewhere but I can't remember where it was... But I imagine that the Ragnvindr Family's wealth is acceptable because they don't solely keep it to themselves, they also use it for Mondstadt's benefit. I imagine some sort of partnership with the Ordo where, for example when they organize events like Ludi Harpastum or Weinlesefest, they can turn to the Ragnvindrs and say "hey, we need money 👀" and they will basically finance it because it's for the entire city's benefit. Wealth, like power, isn't evenly distributed, but it's acceptable. For now.
To make it short, Mondstadt is a slippery slope and Mondstadters are unruly. There are nations with very sophisticated political systems, and then there are the peasants of Teyvat who care more about taverns than politics. More seriously, it is a rather small theocracy constantly trying to find a balance between freedom and restrictions. It is not a democracy and the people don't actually hold power, not even the "Community Representative", but it works because it's small enough that the people can talk directly to the leaders, who tend to care about the gift of freedom. And if they don't anymore, it's rebellion time.
On thing about Mondstadt’s government that bothers me is that everybody boils it down to just the Knights on one side, and the Church on the other. Which, sure, they’re what we know the most about…
But it completely ignores the ‘Community Representative’. Considering their signature is one of three needed to (legally) make use of the Holy Lyre, alongside the Grandmaster and the Seneschal, they must be pretty damn important. So assuming they have equal power to those positions, which are at the head of the Knights and the Church respectively, what actually is that power? Presumably it’s an elected position (the title is that of a ‘representative’, plus I would be severely disappointed if there wasn’t even a hint of democracy in the Nation of Freedom), but is there a structure under it similar to the Knights and Church? Is there a completely separate civilian, secular government that for some reason just barely comes up? If it is elected, how is that handled? If both Grandmaster Varka and the Seneschal are on expedition, does that mean they hold more authority than Acting Grandmaster Jean and whoever is Acting Seneschal (assuming an acting-title’s authority, though still above everything else below the proper-title, is still considered secondary to that of said proper-title)? But if so, why hasn’t it come up? Or is it just some guy elected to act as a more expedient alternative to something like a full referendum?
God, I have an education in history and political science that is just begging for some damn answers!
I mean, I don't have an education in those things and am not real good at working those things out myself, so I don't know that I can provide you too much useful commentary here. XD;; But while I'd love if Mondstadt did have some democracy, I... am pretty convinced that it's a theocracy, actually. The Knights and the Church (which tbh seems to exist under the overall umbrella of the Ordo, given that Jean says in her voiceline about Barbara that "the order also manages the Church") fulfill pretty much all the governmental functions we actually see happening at all, including the whole thing in Jean's quest where Charles expects tax forms from her.
I'll admit I also lean that way because I read into Mondstadt as a whole (its history but also our introduction to it, where Amber initially nabs us for unauthorized entry and then there's a whole early section about gliding regulations) a theme of humans repeatedly being given freedom, and gradually rebuilding restrictions upon themselves. Which I don't think is entirely a bad thing, in that I do think communities generally function better with organization and administration and such, but, like, Mondstadt has gone all the way into tyranny before and could again. Mondstadt building itself an increasingly restrictive theocracy feeds into the theme I like drawing from it, so of course that's the reading I tend towards! But, still, that's where I'm at about it.
(I draw a lot of my read of this national theme from the line, "Mondstadt is the City of Freedom, but unchecked freedom without any kind of rules only invites chaos and anxiety," in Jean's character details, and I haven't seen anyone else talk about it, ever, so it's entirely possible this is actually character brainrot I'm projecting onto the city as a whole. I'm fine with that.)
Presumably there is a further government apparatus, but I tend to believe it's probably under the higher authority of the Ordo. Maybe with checks and balances, maybe not (exactly how I arrange the setup for fic where it's needed is specific to individual fic, because the openness of canon leaves the kind of room that makes it easiest to go with what works for the plot). "Community Representative" on its own is very vague; looking at the line where it actually appears, it's talking about the Holy Lyre in the context of the Ludi Harpastrum, so it could even be a role specific to the yearly organization of that particular festival! That said, it does sound a bit more like it's a regular thing, and given my presumption of theocracy above, I think this:
Or is it just some guy elected to act as a more expedient alternative to something like a full referendum?
honestly is the most likely possibility. It would make sense given Mondstadt's ethos and history--you have a representative of the community to sign off on certain decisions (hopefully elected, as you said, but who knows exactly how it happens), like that one about the Lyre, to show that the people agree. Possibly it's a triangle with the Grand Master at the top and the Seneschal (given the above "manages the Church" line) and Community Representative as equals who have input but not ultimate power on the next level down, possibly they both exist largely to rubberstamp the Grand Master and Seneshal's decisions, possibly it's an area-of-authority divide. Regardless of the exact divisions, Jean does seem to have some fairly unilateral powers in the areas of domestic defense and peacekeeping, but that's... something you do want the head of your military-and-police order to have, generally, so who knows how broad her powers actually are to act without the Seneschal and Representative's approval in other areas. The game is, as always, frustratingly uninformative.
Anyway, tl;dr: my personal reading of Mondstadt tends to render the Community Representative as relatively unimportant, despite the equal billing in that quest, because over and over again in quests and lore and voicelines we don't see anything but "the Ordo handles things," and Mondstadt honestly makes most sense to me as a theocratic city-state. I think they're more likely a representative "voice" in the government than a significant power, and I don't think they represent any significant "third branch" other than possibly, given Mondstadt's history, a symbolic reminder that its people have toppled tyrants before and can do so again.
#Genshin Impact#Mondstadt#Teyvat#Knights of Favonius#Church of Favonius#that was... long... for someone who doesn't even know what they're talking about...#enim#I reiterate that I don't know what I'm talking about

SO RAELXLUDIS RIGHT? I drew them in the ship channel so even the frankenstein scene would be good.
ahhh the two cutest boys
Rael x Ludis : Getting Together
Well first of all, these two are the most loving nobles (save for Karius). Both have a lot of love to give! Rael would probably fall for Ludis after giving up on Seira. The older noble is just so sweet and caring, and his fighting style? Immaculate. He would approach his crush in traditional Rael manner: ask everyone for advice and gradually confront Ludis as a blushing stuttering mess.
"Rozario-nim, what can I do to get Ludis-nim to notice me?" - Rael blushing up a storm
"Call him hyung. Trust me." - Rozario, knowing very well Ludis would melt if Rael called him hyung.
Ludis however would have always found Rael to be a cutie pie. He's just full of passion. He feels every emotion and he feels it hard, his dedication to the Lord, his clan, and his romantic crushes, it's very endearing to Ludis. When Rael finally attempts to confront Ludis the older noble can't help but jump for joy.
"Ludis-nim... I have known you for quite some time and I believe myself to have feeling for you... May I perhaps court you?" - Rael says to himself practicing to say it to Ludis.
"I would love you to!" Ludis says from behind Rael.
When the two of them finally get together, you can bet Ludis loves teasing Rael. Most of the time it's Ludis instigating the more romantic actions. It takes Rael a while to get used to it but, eventually he'll ask for hugs or kisses from Ludis.
Rael isn't one for PDA unless someone is attempting to make a pass at Ludis, then he is very physical. Hugs, hand holding and arm linking galour. I think Rael would be a little insecure about their relationship and would most likely need some reassurance (most likely through kisses and sweet nothings). Ludis would also be a tad bit territorial over Rael as his hyung and everything. Though baby faced, Ludis will fight tooth and nail for his man.
Rael would bring him trinkets and treats from the human world which Ludis adores. Perhaps they would go together and have some tea and cakes. Ludis would be a sucker for picnics!
Of course everyone would adore how cute these boys are. Neither of them can escape teasing from the other nobles. Even Rajak.
TLDR: The two cutest nobles are a cute pair.

First of all I love everything you’ve written for the boys so far, bless, doing amazing, LOVE IT thank you for this nourishment of my soul
But I really love how you write Kung Lao as like, a -little bit- of a fuckboy, and how Liu Kang is patiently adoring of him, so cute.
(Like in that interview, where they said that Kung Lao sort of became Liu Kang’s shield, I can so easily imagine that socially where Kung Lao uses his naturally outgoing personality to deflect attention away from Liu Kang, ugg god I just love the relationship dynamic so much)
WAH thank YOU for consuming my content and being here to share liulao thoughts while we are in this draught sobs
im hollering that my kung lao came across as a fuckboy JQKKSKWK but no yes thats exactly my thoughts on mk2021!kung lao..... i really vibe with the earlier versions of him who actually didn’t care about becoming champion and just wanted to mind his business, AND NOW WE HAVE A VERSION OF HIM WHO’S CHAMPION FROM THE START ?! oml the duty complex that i imagine that boy has.
i loved writing him leaning into his bravado + the weight of his title and really wanted to explore how a lot of that is just a front, courtesy of #just“i’ve had this duty for so long i can remember that my identity ended up growing around it and now i don’t know how to extract myself from it without falling apart”things, and how my liu kang understands very deeply what it’s like to have something define such a core part of you so young, hence him “suffering” kung lao’s projected cockiness with that fondly exasperated love. he Knows that it’s a defense mechanism for kung lao, but he doesn’t have it all figured out yet either and doesn’t know yet how to completely help kung lao past that (BC HE BELIEVES WITH HIS ENTIRE BEING THAT KUNG LAO HAS NOTHING TO PROVE TO ANYONE DAMMIT [slams head into concrete]). i think that awareness goes both ways for my versions of them, but neither of them really know how to cope with it yet bc they’re still young and have yet to fight in their first tournament, so they kind of “default” into this dynamic because it’s easy for them if that makes sense. would u believe me if i said thats originally what i started writing Coda to explore for, until my brain decided to switch gears to pwp 😭😭😭😭
ok and i also want to talk about this “kung lao is liu kang’s shield” business bc I LOVE IT SO MUCH U DON’T UNDERSTAND........ my kung lao def thinks of liu kang the same way max thinks of him as kind of “innocent,” except liu kang is ?? not ?? but it’s this whole thing in my head where kung lao wants to shield him out of this desire to protect liu kang from what he knows is an unkind world, but not realizing that liu kang already knows and has SEEN an even unkinder version of it already — and liu kang doing his own quiet kind of shielding by letting kung lao be protective because he knows it’s just a defense thing, but also by finding ways to remind kung lao that he can exist (and is worthy to exist) without the “destiny” thats been thrust on him. like a silent game of “who’s protecting who” but both of them believing they’re the one doing the protecting and not realizing they need the other’s protection too and YES those two things can coexist and . SOBS listen. Listen theres so much of them to write about i want to scream
but tldr, liulao being each other’s shields in this fucked up world, but also being the only ones who can see each other past their OWN shields — and maybe not knowing yet atp how to get past them, but by god will they stand by each other and until the other lets them in
#if the kung lao in my brain could speak in any of my fics yet.....hes so sad like widjqjfnwk i have so many feelings about him#sometimes i think i relate more to liu kang but i have one (1) thought about kung lao and its all downhill from there#hes so fascinating!!!!! AND HE DESERVES THE WORLD!!!!!#they both deserve a life of love and peace and preferably with each other 😔#stopputtingtheburdenofsavingtheworldonkids2021#im getting ahead of myself i dont want to spoil it ahead of my wip but kl believing for so long he can protect lk#and lk going out of his mind at the lengths kl will evidently go to protect him until one day it ignites an argument of#lk telling him HE DOESNT NEED HIS PROTECTION bc if kl ever gets hurt protecting an innocence THAT HE HASNT HAD FOR A LONG TIME.....#and kl finally finding out the truth about his past.#no i am losing my marbles#thoughts#LONG POST#*&2@;& IM SORRY#does this make any sense#its 730am i woke up and saw this ask and immediately started replying at 630#IF THISISNT COHERENT IM SORRY ANON FOR BEING SO SCATTERED#wait also i want to reiterate this all just my own interpretation and headcanoning plz dont feel obligated to feel the same way#until max huang and ludi lin give us that spinoff we just have 2 survive on Thoughts . im miserable

Catch
Apologies for the big wall of text. I don't think cuts can be done in mobile...?
Scenario: You are the game champion of Ludi Harpastum and as per tradition, you will throw the titular Harpastum which grants the catcher a year of fortune and happiness.
Characters: Aether, Kaeya, and Bennett, (I don't have enough confidence to write for the other guys at the moment, even though I literally wrote for Scaramouche. I might include Childe and Razor... Maybe. 😅)
Enjoy!
<>.<>
Aether
He had gone to the 15-day festival on Venti's recommendation. He had been feeling tired after parting ways with Zhongli and finding out that passage to Inazuma was not an option at the moment.
So really, the festival was the best place to be at for now, even if it was putting his search for Lumine on hold.
Honestly, Aether had been so frantic; so desperate to find his sister that he threw himself to every task and mission there was. But now he was tired; he seemed to have forgotten that even though he was from a different world and is, technically, a deity in his own right, he still had limits. He still needed to lay back and have some fun.
Catching the Harpastum had been a complete accident. He was not even looking at the ball you threw. No, he was looking at the child who was crying because she had lost her mother. The Harpastum was, for some reason, flying towards his general direction and he had to catch it to protect the crying girl.
To his surprise the crowd cheered when he caught the ball. Even the little girl, with her tear-stained face and shoulders wracked with sobs, found it in herself to clap for him. Venti, out of nowhere clapped his shoulder and mentioned something about how it was a catch fit for a song.
The entire time, he was confused. If Paimon had not been lured away by food then he would have asked what the fuss was about.
Thankfully, you climbed down the tall tower and met up with him as the last day of the Harpastum was about to come to a close. "You caught the Harpastum!"
"Seems I did. Did you purposefully throw it to my general direction, though?"
You chuckled. "Maybe... Maybe not."
"Why?"
"Well... They say that whoever catches the Harpastum gets good luck the entire year. I thought you might need all the help you could get to find your sister."
Aether stopped. He had been to many worlds with Lumine, and the twins were, in their own rights, deities. He had met several kinds of people in the different worlds he had been to; some were good, some were bad, some were downright evil, and others were champions of justice.
Every now and then he would meet a person like you; someone whose kindness made his heart melt. Putting the ball aside, he took your hands in his. His throat closed up and for the first time in a long time, he felt like he was about to cry.
"Thank you. This means the world to me."
Kaeya
This year was like any other year; as per usual, the Knights of Favonius were keeping order in the festivities. It was a formality, of course. No Grand Master had ever imposed work on the days of Ludi Harpastum. For Kaeya though, the line between work and play was blurred and thin.
He was fake-patrolling Mondstadt, passing by stalls with trinkets, food, flowers, wine, game, weapons, minerals, and other specialties of the City of Freedom. All of a sudden he received word that a certain treasure hoarder executive he had his eye on was last seen sneaking into the city a week ago. As much as he would have wanted to stay and watch the Harpastum be thrown, he had more pressing matters to attend to.
The crowd was thick and densely packed, with some eager participants of the festival at the front, anticipating the moment you would throw the ball. Kaeya had his work cut out for him, but he easily spotted the treasure hoarder in the throng of people.
So did you, actually. Given your high vantage point and Kaeya's ostentatious garb, you could make the connection that he was fixing his gaze on one particular person. Perhaps you were spending too much time with Captain Alberich that you knew exactly what he was thinking?
"Jean?" You called to the Acting Grand Master. "I might be doing a crime..."
Before Jean could react, you had wound up your arm and threw the ball at the suspicious man. The crowd flocked to him as expected, making reaching him difficult but also confining him there.
Kaeya let out a little chuckle to himself before, with all the grace of a cat, jumped into the crowd, caught the Harpastum and kicked his target in the face. It was such a beautiful display of skill and grace that the crowd forgave the fact that he had kicked a guy to unconsciousness.
Once the man had been apprehended and you had climbed down the tower, you met up with him just as the decorative lanterns were lit up for the last time.
"That was some scary ball-throwing. Remind me to never get on your bad side."
You laughed nervously. "I honestly didn't think I'd make the throw." Clearing your throat to gain some form of calm, you asked "Why go after the Harpastum though? It was mostly just... Crowd control."
Vulnerability was never something Captain Kaeya Alberich of the Knights of Favonius liked showing. He kept his heart under numerous layers, trying to keep it down.
There were times however, when it just comes out. He tilts your chin upwards to meet his eye: the color of ice, but warm as the sun.
"Well... I wasn't about to hand over your blessing to some bandit."
Bennett
He was not planning on actually participating in the ball-throwing. It had always been enough for him to watch from afar since something was bound to happen if he actually participated.
As it was with previous celebrations of Ludi Harpastum's last day, Bennett had planned on going on a mission out of the city just in case. Unfortunately for this year, the Guild was closed and all commissions would be resuming in the morning. When he tried to leave the premises via teleporter or the gates, the guards simply stopped him, saying that there was a suspected felon within the city, so all entry and exit was prohibited.
Well, at least his famous unluckiness was still there.
Ever the optimist, Bennett just tried to enjoy himself as much as he could, despite the mishaps that seemed to center around him.
At the wine stall, Bennett accidentally knocked a tapper off when a running kid bumped into him. At one of the game stalls, he had missed his target, sent the toy arrow flying, and punched a hole in the tent's roof. At a food stall, the stick of his meat and mushroom skewer was incredibly hot for some reason, and he dropped it on the ground.
Bennett was used to these unfortunate events, but it always made him feel guilty when other people were affected by it. The subject of Benny's Adventure Team was still a sore spot and he regrets it everyday. He had new friends now, yes, but that didn't really change the fact that unfortunate things happened around him.
Not wanting to affect the most important part of the Ludi Harpastum, Bennett climbed atop one of Mondstadt's many windmills and watched the events unfold from there. He failed to notice that the streamer attached to the windmill's awning was now loose from all the wind that buffeted it and all it took was Bennett's outstretched arm to snap it.
Now, had he been on one of the wooden upper balconies then there would have been no problem, but he had counted on it as purchase as he tried climbing onto the roof itself. The lack of sure footing and his sudden panic made Bennett hold onto the streamer, which he now realized was connected to the Barbatos statue where the throwing of the Harpastum would be, and in the next moment he was swinging towards the statue; right in the middle of the festivity.
You were just about to throw the ball when a terrified scream reached your ears and the people on the ground started panicking, pointing, and gawking at Bennett who was holding onto a loose streamer for dear life. He had told you that he would be adventuring for the last day of Ludi Harpastum, but it seemed like that was not the case.
Jean, who was beside you, immediately sprung to action as she cast her Anemo protection on Bennett and the Knights on the ground began dispersing the crowd.
It took all of five minutes for Bennett to land safely and for you to meet up with him on the ground.
"I'm sorry for ruining the Harpastum-throwing."
It broke your heart how defeated he looked right now. You have had your share of adventures with Bennett, and they never felt more dangerous than any regular adventure you had.
Without waiting for anything else from Jean or the other Knights, you shoved the Harpastum to Bennett's hands.
The moment his fingers touched the ball, something lit up in his eyes and eventually died down until they shone with tears. You knew how seriously he took his... Predicament, but it was no reason for you to view it the same way.
"There," you beamed. "Now you're lucky for a year."
Bennett's smile went and exceeded the brightness of yours.
"What are you talking about? I've been lucky enough to meet you. And that's good enough."

Millennium AU!
Hi everyone!!! After three years I finally updated+upgraded my Millennium AU lineup! Now I have a total of 15 ocs for this AU instead of the previous 10! This is probably my magnum opus as a noblesse fanart/fan-content creator lol.
For context, this is an alternate universe where Razark is alive, it’s 1000+ years in the future, and everyone has kids.
Important note: this is not a happy AU. There are happy moments, but with the general settings of characters and their relationships with one another, and the way Lukedonia is defined by Lord Raskreia… not very optimistic. It’s angsty. I’ll explain more as this post goes, and you’ll see why.
On how nobles have kids in my headcanon: nobles reproduce asexually. To be precise, children are born from soul fragments. Soul fragments can be extracted at the cost of some of the parent’s own lifespan. Two soul fragments create a new soul, aka the child. Because how this entire process has lifespan shortening qualities, children are usually proof of true love or repaying a major favor/debt to someone. It’s a huge deal for nobles, so it is never taken lightly. If a clan’s last clan leader/pureblood dies without an heir, a new heir/child/soul is born from the mystic energy that the air/ground of Lukedonia emits. Kind of like a thin-air baby appearing out of nowhere.
How to read this lineup:
White text: character name
Blue text: parents’ names, if any.
Ring + heart: parents are in love & married.
Heart: parents are in love & not married.
Green diamond: parents are not in love. Soul fragment donation as debt repayment. Children do not carry their donor’s surname.
Eldest to the left, youngest to the right.
Now introducing the characters!
Alois Elenor: Male. First child of Ludis Mergas and Rozaria Elenor. Name means “famous warrior”. An introvert. Nicknames: Al, the hair guy, magic boy. Relationship with family: Ludis (father, good), Rozaria (mother, good), Susanna (sister, good)
Alois is the first born of the entire nextgen cast. He is very very shy, and almost never talks, and if he does it’s when he thinks it’s necessary. He doesn’t like eye contact with virtually anyone who isn’t family, so he usually has his eyes and face covered with his bright red hair. If you try to brush his hair aside to see his eyes, he WILL freak out and turn you into a frog. That’s reserved for his family and his crush, sorry. He’s usually calm, but has an anxious side to him that shows when he feels stressed out. He’s also quite sensitive, but people usually have no idea about what he’s thinking since he doesn’t talk, and they can’t see his face. His younger sister Susanna can always tell, though. She reads him like a book. Alois is a very big family-oriented guy and will do anything to make his family happy. The four of them have an extremely close relationship, and make a happy family unit. Though Alois being the only introvert in his family means that sometimes he gets overwhelmed by their excess energy. He may not show it in the way his family does, but he’s very very happy to receive their love. Dotes on his younger sister Susanna. Has a major crush on Luzia Tradio. Super big fan of Kei Ru, idolizes him.
Luzia Tradio: Female. First child of Kei Ru and Claudia Tradio. Name means “light of the day”. An introvert. Nicknames: Lucy, Cici, witch queen. Relationship with family: Kei (father, not very good), Claudia (mother, good), Jia (sister, bad)
Luzia Tradio is never seen to smile, and she always wears a frown on her face. She is a bit grumpy and standoffish. If you look at her with the wrong expression she might give you the death stare… or so it seems. You see, she has a history of casting curses on people and making them vomit maggots for hours, but hey it’s for a good reason. They annoy her too much. Just don’t get too close to her, or ask too many questions. She has inherited her grandfather Lagus’ talent, and is the most powerful in the entire nextgen cast. But what most people don’t know is that she is trying to recover Lagus’ legacy… specifically his research, creations, and abilities. Due to the Lagus’ traitor history, doing so has been banned by none other than Lord Raskreia. And even if it weren’t banned, Luzia trying to chase after Lagus’ research would make mommy dearest drop dead in anxiety. Luzia won’t actually try to take over Lukedonia; in fact she’s not interested in any of it. She just genuinely enjoys doing the same creepy/shady/illegal stuff gramps did. So she has an underground lab where she pursues Lagus’ legacy and conducts her… err, research. Just evil edgy witch stuff. No one needs to know. Hah. She has a great relationship with her mother Claudia and swears to protect her. She can’t stand her father Kei and sister Jia for… complicated reasons, so she avoids them and shuts them out. They try to reach out to her, though their attempts almost always fail. May or may not like Alois back… welp, she’s in denial. Likes candy.
Aretis Verja Di Reiner: Male. Only child of Razark and Erga Kenesis Di Raskreia. Name means “the deciding warrior that defends virtue”. An extrovert. Nicknames: N/A. Relationship with family: Razark (father, good), Raskreia (mother, very very bad)
Reiner is Raskreia’s heir and the next lord. Reiner’ story is a complex one. He is naturally very charismatic and shines in his own way, but that gets affected by his upbringing and now he’s just majorly depressed and too tired to care about anything. You see, his mother Raskreia isn’t the best at expressing her emotions as she is naturally stoic.. and has her sense of pride, even when it comes to loving her son. She believes her duties as Lord comes before anything else, even if it’s her family. So, she makes it to clear to young Reiner that he is her heir and subject before he is her son. Welp, that’s certainly very…reassuring to hear from your mom-lord. So even when Raskreia and Razark love each other very much, Reiner was raised almost entirely by his father Razark, whom he shares a good relationship with. Reiner has a very strong sense of justice and seeing how Raskreia’s ways are stubborn, archaic, even borderline tyrannical and how she is headed towards failing Lukedonia, he protests againsts her ways and seeks to abolish their system altogether in favor of a democracy. Reiner fails and proceeds to leave Lukedonia out of anger and helplessness and decides to never become Lord, though he had already made this decision long ago when he cracked under pressure to become the perfect prince. Raskreia sees his act as a rebellion, and deems him a traitor. Uh oh, his own mom-lord might be after his head. Time to run. He’d probably be way happier to stay away from all the trouble at home and work as a cashier in the human world. Sigh. Give him a pat on the shoulder and tell him good work. Too depressed to like anyone.
Jia Ru: Female. Second child of Kei Ru and Claudia Tradio. Name means “auspicious”. An extrovert. Nicknames: little tigress, bedrock annihilator, them muscles. Relationship with family: Kei (father, good), Claudia (mother, good), Luzia (sister, neutral)
Jia is an excellent martial artist, just like her father Kei, whom she absolutely adores. She enjoys sparring with others, often running out of people to challenge just because she does it so often and they’re all tired and want to rest. What do you mean you wanna rest, it’s only been the 8th spar of the day! Ugh, y’all don’t exercise enough. She has sharp canines that show in a toothy grin when she’s happy. She is on good terms with most of her peers though sometimes she may or may not offend others with her bluntless. She doesn’t mean any harm, she just doesn’t really have a filter and says whatever’s on her mind…even around their Lord. Whoops. Luckily Raskreia wasn’t too pissed. Be careful next time. She does get extremely shy around Alois though, whom she has a huge crush on. Her hair accessories (set of golden hoops) are gifts from her mother Claudia. Claudia wears the other pair. Kei isn’t the best with expressing love and he mostly only gives combat-related compliments that roughly translate into “I love you”. He does call his daughter “little tigress” when they are alone; it’s a nickname he gave to her as a child. Jia knows Kei loves her, and he knows she loves him, and they’re happy. She doesn’t like sweet food, and loves meat.
Susanna Mergas: Female. Second child of Ludis Mergas and Rozaria Elenor. Name means “to be joyful/graceful lily”. An ultra extrovert. Nicknames: Susa, teacup, cupcake. Relationship with family: Ludis (father, good), Rozaria (mother, good), Alois (brother, good)
Susanna might be the shortest and tiniest of the bunch, but she is jam-packed with raw energy. Fun energy. Chaotic energy. Loud energy. Just pure energy. She’s the ultimate definition of a social butterly. As long as something moves, she’ll want to befriend it. Hey you! You can be her 278th best friend! Seriously. She’ll love it and so will you. What do you mean you can live for tens of thousands of years and still haven’t memorized everyone’s names? That’s impossible! Lol. She loves hanging out with people and finding fun things to do. Tea parties is one of her absolute favorites, and she too has mastered the art of tea parties under the guidance and apprenticeship of her beloved daddy and the master of human traditions, Ludis. A day is never dull with her and her family. They just love partying. As loud and energetic as she is, she is actually quite good at picking up very very subtle cues of how other people are feeling, and will quiet down and approach you differently if you need it. Smothers her brother in affection, and loves being doted on by him. Arya’s girlfriend.
Kaelestis Blerster: Male. Only child of Karias Blerster and Rael Kertia. Name means “of the sky, heavenly”. An extraverted-introvert. Nicknames: Kaekae, dad, the no-fun guy. Relationship with family: Karias (father, good), Rael (donor, good) Raegyn & Arya (half-siblings, good)
Kaelestis is the most mature out of the bunch. Unlike his eccentric father Karias, he is very proper and does not engage in the former’s speech and actions. In fact, he’s probably closer to being the parent than the other way around. He often calls out Karias for his behavior and does not hesitate to reprimand his father for his inappropriateness. Karias just laughs, does a fake dramatic flop down the floor, whines to his son about how he’s just no fun at alllll. Kaelestis just shakes his head and sighs. Kaelestis actually got his nickname Kaekae from Karias because Karias gets okay’d by his son all the time. “Okay Clan Leader, time to act maturely like a proper noble”, etc. Even his friends call him “dad” as a joke. The only time he’s ever acted “improper” was when he called Raskreia “auntie”… but that’s because Karias lied to his son and told him daddy’s Lord’s brother. And Kaekae believed it. Never again for those petty tricks. Kaelestis is also an excellent painter and architect, and is responsible for Lukedonia’s artistic projects. His personality may not be romantic, but his crafts certainly are. Just breathtakingly beautiful and you won’t see talent like this anywhere else. Likes Izar.
Raegyn Kertia: Male. First child of Regis K. Landegre and Rael Kertia. Name means “little king/impulsive”. An extrovert. Nicknames: Ray, the genius, mr. Celebrity. Relationship with family: Regis (father, good), Rael (father, good), Arya (sister, good), Kaelestis, Garyth & Alethea (half-siblings, good)
Raegyn is a surprisingly good diplomat, as he is the smartest of the entire nextgen cast. Though, he is seen as a good diplomat and loved by all not because he truly is that way. He is just very, very smart and knows how to get things… and people to be the way he wants. At his level manipulation is quite easy, though usually he doesn’t need to do so as his natural charm does the job for him. He’s already everyone’s favorite guy #1. He’s snarky and witty. Sometimes, he might come off as arrogant because he expects people to understand things without needing him to explain and gets frustrated when they don’t. He doesn’t show this side easily, but he’s secretly very apathetic and loves dark humor. By human standards sometimes you’d wanna call him lil’ shit. Damn, it’s just lonely to be at the top. He has a good relationship with his fathers, and Rael often comes to his son for advice. They have casual debates sometimes and Rael always loses. So proud of my son. He’s the smartest. Yaaaaa. Likes Umbra.
Arya K. Landegre: Female. Second child of Regis K. Landegre and Rael Kertia. Name means “noble/air song”. An extrovert. Nicknames: Ari, Yaya. Relationship with family: Regis (father, good), Rael (father, good), Raegyn (brother, good), Kaelestis, Garyth & Alethea (half siblings, good)
Arya is the opposite of everything elegant. She’s actually quite cringy, in a good way. She’s loud, fidgety, and cheerful. If you brought all these kids to a fast food restaurant, she’ll be the one throwing fries around like confetti and convincing everyone else to join in. If it weren’t for the black stripes in her hair, you would’ve never guessed that she’s a Landegre because she doesn’t act like one at all. Truth be told, part of it is a show. She is sad to see Lukedonia so somber, and tries to cheer up others by putting on an act, thinking she can try to get others to feel a bit happier, if she pretends to be happy too. But mostly it’s for making her clan leader and father Regis happy to know that she’s “happy”, now that he has a really shortened lifespan and they don’t have too much time together. A not-so-healthy coping mechanism for her soon-to-be grief. Someone get this girl an oscar and some therapy. Susanna’s girlfriend.
Garyth J. Loyard: Male. First child of Regis K. Landegre and Seira J. Loyard. Name means “honest/tender person”. An introvert. Nicknames: Gary, angel, starlight. Relationship with family: Regis (father, good ), Seira (mother, good), Alethea (sister, good), Raegyn & Arya (half siblings, it’s complicated)
Garyth is the most beautiful child in the entire nextgen cast. You’d take one look at his face, and you’ll want to throw chocolates and diamonds at him. He has super long eyelashes that seem to flutter like feathers in the wind. He also has an angelic voice, and is an excellent singer. You’d get distracted and walk face first into a pole if you happen to stumble upon him singing. He is also the great-grandchild that resembles Gejutel the most out of the four that exist, despite being the Loyard heir. His mannerisms are also very Landegre. He’s very obsessed with being elegant, and while he is very dignified, he can engage in playful banter just like how Regis does it. Susanna probably handed him a sharpie once and told him to “color his hair” since Gary is just so obsessed with the Landegre side of himself. Smooth one, Susa. Gary is super embarrassed. Garyth does have a lingering sadness inside once he learns of his mother Seira’s trauma and past. He loves her very much and will do anything for her. For that reason, he absolutely hates Rael’s guts for his history of stalking and harassing Seira. He loves Regis very much too but is confused why Regis forgave his former nemesis and even married him. He avoids his half siblings for the same reason, since they remind him of Rael. Confused Garyth harbors a deep resentment and sadness inside for not being able to help. His sister Alethea knows of it, but wonders why her brother never talks about it. Has a lil’ thing for Reiner.
Alethea J. Loyard: Female. Second child of Regis K. Landegre and Seira J. Loyard. Name means “truth”. An introvert. Nicknames: Thea, bunny. Relationship with family: Regis (father, good ), Seira (mother, good), Garyth (brother, good), Raegyn & Arya (half siblings, good)
Alethea resembles her mother Seira so much, she could very much be her. Seira’s little clone basically. If you put her side-by-side with her mother’s younger self, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between them. Seira nicknames her daughter “bunny”, and Alethea blushes when her mother calls her that. Alethea is quiet and reserved, though not entirely due to being an introvert. She suffers from low self esteem. Being Seira’s second child she won’t get a soul weapon nor will she become clan leader, and she is fine with that. Her low self esteem stems from her feeling extremely out of place in this world. Everything feels so foreign even though she’s experiencing everything in her own skin. She just never feels like she belongs here, and often zones out because of this. She suffers from a lack of purpose. She is just observing this world, and prefers to not partake in it. She is very empathetic though, and shares a close bond with her family. She doesn’t avoid her half siblings like her brother Garyth does. Prefers to hang out with great grandfather Gejutel, just the two of them, in his library. That’s where she feels most at home. Nice safe space. Likes peace and quiet.
Bellona: Female. Gradeus’ clan’s heir. No parents, born from thin air. Name means “goddess of war”. An extrovert. Nicknames: Belle, Nana. Relationship with family: Gejutel (caretaker, good)
Bellona was born to be Gradeus clan’s heir. Gejutel names her in good will, hoping that she becomes a good leader, should she choose to use her powers in battle. Interestingly, Bellona channels her energy into dancing. She is a skilled fighter, though she prefers to let her energy out by dancing and her dance moves mimic those of battle. Intense and passionate. Fiery. A berserker of a different kind. She can feel it in her muscles, in her bones, in her soul. Dancing is her life. She’s that person who tells you working out will help with feeling sad. Often drags Reiner around and forces him to dance, much to his annoyance and Raegyn’s amusement. C’mon, it’s gotta help! Just shake the tension off. Feel your feet on the ground, and forget the thoughts in your head. Good friends with Cordelia Kravei. Ps she sometimes summons Messad and swings it around as dancing prop, because hey it looks pretty damn cool. Likes Garyth.
Izar Siriana: Male. Siriana clan’s heir. No parents, born from thin air. Name means “star”. An extraverted-introvert. Nicknames: Izzy, bookworm. Relationship with family: Gejutel (caretaker, good)
To Gejutel, Zarga just… seemed bit lost. So in hopes that this his heir finds a passion in life and shines brightly, he names this boy Izar. Just as his name suggests, he develops a love for astronomy and the maths. Most nobles nowadays arent too concerned with being empirical aside from a few who also have an interest in these subject matters, but Izar takes it to another level. Having a passion that grounds him to the earth while he stares into the sky makes him happy. A neet. By human standards you’d be questioning how long he hasn’t showered. He’s not shy though, just prefers to live with his books. One day hopes to discover alternate universes and conquer the black hole, probably. At least he jokes so. Vomited maggots many times from Lucy’s curses from being too annoying and pestering her nonstop for a possible “research buddy”. Lucy doesn’t care for hot burning elemental cores or numbers. Leave her alone. Has a super smart pet ferret named Charles who acts like an assistant and helps him fetch his books and papers. Drinks coffee not because he needs it, but because it’s fashionable and trendy scientists do so. Right? That’s what you call them… scientists!! He even got himself some round glasses to complete his look. Sooo cool. Maybe he’ll ask Lucy for some of her eyeshadow to give himself dark eye circles. …You really wanna vomit maggots again? Likes Jia.
Asa Drosia: Male. Drosia clan’s heir. No parents, born from thin air. Name means “healer/morning”. An introverted-extrovert. Nicknames: N/A. Relationship with family: Gejutel (caretaker, good)
Edian had suffered from multiple unfortunate events prior to her death, so Gejutel names her heir Asa, hoping that he lives a peaceful, hopeful life. Asa is surprisingly good at talking and is quite diplomatic. Unlike Raegyn who only pretends to care and seems like nice guy thanks to his charm, Asa is genuinely nice. He is calm, and mentally and emotionally stable. He’s basically the local therapist kind of guy. He never judges anyone for their circumstances and is accepting of everyone. If you even just look at him in the eyes and see him smile, you’ll feel an uncontrollable urge to cry. Everyone (excluding funny Lord Rask) truly loves him and he’s glad to help. He’s pretty much the only dude in the entire cast not affected by depression. Just like how his SW is a pair of sharp rapiers, he’s good at pinpointing issues and digging them out from the source… though sometimes it hurts to bring out those old scars, even just to talk about them. Which is why Reiner even avoids him because. Cant hide anything from this guy. Ugh. Reiner’s pride. It’s okay, Asa won’t judge you. He has a collection of scented candles, and likes to do knitting in his free time. Likes Bellona.
Umbra Agvain: Female. Agvain clan’s heir. No parents, born from thin air. Name means “shadow/shade”. An introvert. Nicknames: Umbie, firecracker. Relationship with family: Gejutel (caretaker, good)
In contrast to Urokai’s character, Gejutel names her in hopes that she’d be calm and collected, with shadow in her name also meaning she’d protect the ones she loves…instead of the opposite. Unfortunately, she isn’t calm at all. Just like her predecessor, she is quite explosive, but for a different reason. She isn’t angry, nor is she jealous. She is frustrated. She feels and senses everything much stronger than everyone else. If she loves something, she loves it to death. If she hates something, she hates it to death. Everything comes so strongly, she only ever eats plain food, and uses her powers to suppress light and sound around her. Avoids people. It’s just too much for her. Cries and screams often when she is alone from the overwhelming sensations and feelings. Ironically, her hobby is cooking and makes great food. Stress cooks. Doesn’t eat any of it though. Susa’s more than happy to help herself to Umbra’s cooking. Likes Asa.
Cordelia Kravei: Female. Kravei clan’s heir. No parents, born from thin air. Name means “heart/jewel of the sea”. An introvert. Nicknames: Del, Lili, fish girl. Relationship with family: Gejutel (caretaker, good)
Cordelia is the last one to be born in the entire nextgen cast, which means she’s the youngest. Since Lukedonia is surrounded by the sea, Gejutel names her Cordelia in hopes that her heart and soul feels at home. Cordelia is a great illusionist and magician. Not magic in the sense of Elenor and Tradio, but as in tricks and visual effects. She spends a good amount of time by the sea and teaches herself to manipulate aura into various shapes and forms outside of battle usage. She can conjure beautiful illusions of both marine animals and mythical sea creatures, and often works with her best friend Bellona, giving a great show of illusions while Bellona dances. She’s good friends with Kaelestis, with Kaelestis often getting inspiration for his paintings from Cordelia. A pretty chill person in general. Likes Alethea.
Annd that’s it! For a little end note, yes Gejutel raises the last five. Why? Because of bad examples. The Previous Lord kept dumping stuff on Gejutel without explanation. Raskreia observes her father’s doings, and concludes that that’s the way to go when she doesn’t know how to approach something. Just hand it to Gejutel. So when the five thin air babies appear…. Yup, she just assigns Gejutel to them and yolos. Not my business. They’re the traitor clans’ new heirs, and back then Gejutel took good care of Claudia and her clan so he can manage five more right?? Right?? And as of now she doesn’t want to associate with them so… good luck Gejutel. Sorry. Ehh maybe not sorry. Anyways grandpa vomits blood and says goodbye to retirement. But he does follow her orders. Now he has 5 more kids to raise. Ugh. Btw Gejutel names all of them too cuz Rask being the negligent paranoid Lord she is, she doesn’t bother with it either. Gejutel raises them and has a good relationship with all five.
