Smaug the Golden

I can't just beliveed that it's being more than ten years since the releasing of The Hobbit the Desolation of Smaug...

That dragon in both the novel and the movie had a such presence, personality.

I have still a clear memory of when I first reading The Hobbit and after in the theater when Smaug finaly rise from the gold ocean. Until Bilbo enter in the Mountains, Smaug is just an invisible threat. We, as Bilbo, know that the confrontation with this character wouldn't be without any risks. A mortal danger ahead . And yet, some times, we forget the dragon... until he woke up. Smaug the dragon of tales and songs became real.

The Selkie Maiden and the Sidh

Dúlamán na farraige, be’fhear a bhí in Éirinn

Becoming One with Life

Everytime I listen or think about the main theme of Monster Hunter 3, To One with Life, I can't help but feel a deep warm feeling in my hear that remind me what I love about Monster Hunter.

From Moga's seacoast to the Misty Peeks of Yukumo, there is a story that it's written. Not just about just fighting powerful Monsters or Elder Dragons such as Ceadeus, Amatsu or Alatreon.

It's about journeys and meeting and making bond with other peoples. Discovering new cultures and countries. About friendship and understanning. Of being amaze by the richess of Nature.

About how all lives, Humans as Monsters are connected a world full danger and beauty.

Fading light

More Diasomnia Arc goes on, more I wanted to do an illustration with Malleus's Overbolt form inspired by one of Evylind Earle's Maleficent concept art for Maleficent and Sleeping Beauty. When I started to sketch some ideas, Part 4 has been released and... I wasn't expected so such angst, such much sadness. There was since the beginning of that Arc but... It's just... I cannot find the words. Certainly, with Idia, Malleus's Arc is and will one of the most saddess and emotional.

I think that the song To Edge of Night fits well with all of this...

While Malleus becoming that dangerous, dark Dragon-Fea Lord, like in old fairies tales, he try desperately to protect the lasts gleam of light... The ones of his family, friends and love ones... Even if the price to pay is that all in plunged in darkness and dream world...

A promise...

After all that happened this december during the last part of Chapter 7, I really wanted to paint some Malleus's birthday art with a hope note.

I always love Enya's work for Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring. I think “May it be“ suit well to Malleus about his current personal journey.

It's about departures, of being far away, ... About friendships and all the persons we meet and bond with.

About love and new beginnings... Just as a warm dawn during winter.

Glorfindel and the Balrog

Glorfindel is one of my favorites Elves from Tolkien's books and I really wanted to drawing and paint his last fight when everything is lost.

Gondolin, the last Elven sanctuary of Beleriand is no more. Its people are dead or trying to espace by the mountains with despair and fear, as Morgoth's forces hunt them down.

And then came Glorfindel, an Elf chieftain, who is certainly weakened by the Siege and perhaps knowing that this fight againts the Balrog will bring their both end, but he will give a chance to his people and friends to escape to safety.

Glorfindel is I think, one of the greastest, selfless and bravest hero of Middle-Earth. Not just during that fight (which that will allowed to Eärendil to live and bring back hope on Middle-Earth) but also during the events of The Lord of the Rings... to help once more the Free People in their darkest hours.

Crimson Flowers and Bell of Salvation
