PART EIGHT. ONE

I have something else for this part to be honest

So I decided to rewatch s2e4 of Only Murders for Angel in Flip Flops, and got not only that, but also iconic “I’m going to fuck you, Oliver” scene from Teddy, and “Is it just me, or did ‘adult business thing’ sound kinda queer-coded?” about Oliver and Charles from Lucy. So many iconic things in less than 15 minutes into the episode.

I love the new characters on OMITB but…

I really miss a lot of characters from the first two seasons. Of course there are the Dimases (that’s the plural of Dimas right? Lol), I’ve definitely heard people talking about how much they miss them. Mostly Theo, and hey me too. I do think there’s lots to revisit with these two. But also I ADORE Lucy! I would love to see more of Lucy. Her relationship with Charles is so unique and sweet. She sounds gen z without actually sounding like she was written by a boomer and I love her for it. She’s adorable and excitable and such a good addition to the show. I miss Will too. It’s strange how we barely got to see him in season three especially with Oliver’s medical issues. Oliver is a father and grandfather, but we barely hear him talk about them. What about Mabel’s mom? How is she doing?

I miss the other Arconia residents too. How is Nina doing with her baby and being the Arconia���s board president? How is Charles’ neighbor, Arnav Kapoor? He seemed nice and I wanted to get to know him more. What about Ndidi Idoko and Dr Grover Stanley? I mean that therapist was funny I’m sure you could do something with him.

I also wanna know about Mabel’s relationship with Oscar post season one. They were gonna be just friends but are they friends? Do they still talk? Did they have a falling out? How is he after everything?

How’s Detective William’s wife Kiara and son Keith?

What I love about the first couple seasons is how the Arconia feels like its own little world. There’s a community (of isolated people but still). Now the building feels a little emptier now we only really see Uma, Howard, and Lester. They’ve done so much to build a world here and I wanna continue living in it.

Episode 4 is easily my favorite episode of the season so far. It makes such a difference for the trio to be together + I enjoyed spending time with Cinda. Oh what familiar characters and relationships can do for my happiness.

Other thoughts:

He isn’t my favorite for the role, but Howard’s behavior this episode is making me like him more for the moriarty/mastermind role that John Hoffman has talked about (him and Oliver having a ‘layered relationship’ wherein he doesn't hand over the keys when he doesn't want to even though he works for Oliver, him being ‘the eyes and ears of this production,’ the lying.)

Okay, my hope for the Joy/Charles stuff is that he ends the season realizing he doesn’t want a (heteronormative) romantic relationship and what actually makes him happy is his found family with Oliver and Mabel and Lucy. However, now might be a good time to mention that I think Lucy might be getting Oscer’d. (A review said she isn’t in the first eight episodes.)

Oh! Kimber’s line about Ben looking like a 50 year old baby feels meaningful when in the play everyone’s meant to think a baby did it. It's a point to the theory that Ben faked his own death when he collapsed on stage.

I think this is the first time Mabel's worn white and not gotten blood on her.

Maybe Tom (piano guy) did it. I say this solely because of the lack of focus on him.

I'm pretty sure it's an unpopular opinion, but I don't think I want or need to see Theo in the next episodes/season. Ok, he didn't get too much screen time, but neither did a lot of other characters. He still had more time and was in season 3, at least.

To be honest, I'd rather love to see Lucy or Oscar, or Silvia instead.
