Wanted to share this piece I drew a while ago (Early October) because I still really like how It came out. At the start I wanted to draw Lucky with Mushroom cause they were listed as symbols of self Isolation, but After further research I found out they also Symbolize Death and Birth and that Is quite fitting in its own way
(I did improvise lights and Shadows a bit)

🔎 YA Under the Radar 7 🔍
I have been working on this list in the series all year 😂 it just took me that long to read a decent amount of underrated YA - but I got there in the end and I'm pretty happy with the recs on this list 🥰
there are rainbow flags next to LGBT+ rep, wheelchair symbols next to disability rep and koalas next to Australia YA simply because there's a lot of that on this particular list
so take a gander and maybe consider picking up a title or two (or ten) in 2024 to support lesser-known authors and books 😊

Nine people I'd like to get to know better
Big thanks to @kingdomvel for the tag!
First tumblr tag game, I'll try to do it right 🌞
Last song: Metaphor by The Crane Wives, my beloved.
Favorite color: Violet 💜 in all its forms. Lilac and lavender and royal purple. All of them.
Last tv show: Person of Interest. Me and a friend have a tradition of watching shows together on free evenings, and this was the last thing we tried out. Not sure how to feel about it yet - very 2010s.
What I really want to watch is Sharp Objects, because the book was haunting. Gillian Flynn is a master and she should write more.
Sweet/spicy/savory: Sweet, but specifically tart and sweet. I can eat my weight in frozen berries dipped in sugar. Any drink that's sweet and red is great. Daydreaming about a tall glass of hibiscus tea as we speak.
Relationship status: Lone traveler. ⛵
Last google: Belladonna of Sadness (saw a bad video essay on it, wanted to see what it's all about. It's, uh, downloading)
Current obsession: Star Wars, of course. But also thinking about rereading Azimov's Lucky Starr series again. It's retro sci-fi at its most earnest and delightful, what's not to love?
I hope the people below don't begrudge me the tag!

5, 11 & 16 for the ask :)
Thank you for the asks!
5) What genre did you read the most of?
In between the Asimov authorized sequels, the un-authorized ones, the Lucky Starr series, Philip K. Dick and Stanislaw Lem; I can fairly say this year had been dominated by science fiction.
Tumblr media
11) What was your favorite book that has been out for a while, but you just now read?
Of the books I've read this year, they're all fairly recent (and even then some are already outdated 💀). Still, the Lucky Starr series is quite fresh and fun, and it was written during the 50s!
Tumblr media
16) What is the most over-hyped book you read this year?
I've started Yukio Mishima's "Confessions of a mask" around a month ago or so, and I feel like I'll drop it. Although it's a classic of Japanese literature, something about it puts me off...

12, 16, 20 and 24 for the fandom bingo!!
OHOOHHO LETSGO!! (for the first two questions I'll be referring to the asimov fandom to no one’s surprise)
12. compliment someone else in your fandom
im gonna hype up @yeastpanini real quick bc THEYRE SO COOL WTF???? Nini’s art and interpretations of the asimov characters have so many fun little details and they fill me with joy - Look at their trevize and pel!! trantor fashion! pritcher and the mule!! its all so good (also bonus shoutout for being very funny and making me genuinely consider reading the lucky starr books, somehow)
16. a tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate
Never forget (bc I certainly did haha) that Daneel must have had the most insane first few days of his life - programmed to be a psychologist, then given the ‘sense of justice’ software update and shoved into a detective role. first human he meets accuses him of murder twice then becomes his best friend. his first book was the bible. and people wonder why he’s Like That now-
20. your very first fandom!
First fandom I remember actively seeking out online content for was probably either harry potter or the belgariad! (the belgariad was a fantasy book series published in the 80s that altered my brain chemistry forever - I remember eating up all the art and crackfics I could find on deviantart XD)
24. how has fandom positively impacted your life?
well it started me on actually working to improve my art and writing, I got to be involved in creative projects that I'm still proud of, and ofc met some really cool people through it, to name a few <33
Love your fandom asks :DD

get to know me -- Pigeon Edition!
Tumblr media
[Art by @drudenkreuz ! I commissioned this stainglass pigeon forever ago and i adore it]
Last song: Cotton Eye Joe covered by The Sweeplings. I'm a sucky for 'serious' covers of not-so-serious songs. See also: Johnathan Coulton's folk cover of Baby Got Back.
Currently reading: Still enjoying Paladin's Grace by T. Kingfisher! it is the first book in her Saint of Steel series. I really enjoy T. Kingfisher's writing, it's delightful.
Currently reading round 2: I've also been reading Kill Six Billion Demons and if you like a lotta world building and bad ass women you'll enjoy it! It is a web comic and it still updates, I believe. If you like or want to play Lancer, you'll like this.
Currently watching: What We Do In The Shadows! Only Murders in the Building! Critical Role C3!
Current obsession: That kiss from Critical Role C3.................. never have I been so invested in a ship before.

Who is Glodis?
Tumblr media
Art by @acespace42
"Greetings, Earthlings! I have come in search of knowledge and coffee!"
Glodis is a Globarbian from the planet of Globarb. They were wanting to go on a mission to the planet of Earth and gather resources and information, but the leader of Globarb, Sidolgus, denied them that chance.

Art done by EmeraldKamala
Then, one day, Glodis went to go see the rocket that would take the lucky Globarbian to the planet of Earth and in a series of unfortunate events, Glodis ended up blasting off in the rocket all the way to the planet of Crystalga.
Since that day, Glodis has adjusted to their new home planet and has made friends with a lot of interesting faces, including Chris the Zorua, Chrissy the Zoroark, Misty Hylees, and more!

Though they may be tall, standing at six feet and having multiple tentacles for traversal, Glodis is a gentle-hearted curious individual who wants to know as much about the world as they can. And yet, even if they need to fight, they wield a blaster with three settings: Pyro (which shoots out fire energy shots), Electro (which shoots out electrical bolts), and Hydro (which shoots out bursts of water).
As a Globarbian, Glodis can fall from any height, be cut in half, and maybe even get shot by various guns, and they will survive! However, their one weakness is fire. Globarbians have a natural weakness to fire, so one burn to Glodis, and they are toast!

And while it may become apparent if you scroll down their Toyhouse profile, in another timeline and possibly another universe, Glodis is in love with Ace Starr, a character made by @acespace42 . The two are inseparable, and it goes without saying that AceSpace's favorite character in my Fictional Family is Glodis.

One last note: Glodis is adopted. I adopted them on July 16th of 2019, meaning soon, it will be 4 years since they joined the Fictional Family. I adopted them from an artist by the name of Kokytea. If they are reading this post right now, I want to thank you so much, and you can rest assured, Glodis is still in good hands.
To see all of Glodis' art and more information about them, you can check out their Toyhouse profile!
If you want to read Glodis' origin story, you can read it here:

It nags at me that In the Lucky Starr series our protagonist has a sidekick who is technically a Martian called John Jones and the first book came out a few years before the debut of The Martian Manhunter and I’m like… was it a reference or a coincidence. I mean it’s a generic enough name that it could be either. And I will likely never know.
