That scene where the guys knock Daniel down the hill but he hits his head on a rock and he loses his memories. Someone picks him up, drops him at the hospital and they call his mum.

When Daniel wakes up its to his mum and the handyman of their apartment building, though he doesn’t quite realise that initially.

“Oh my baby. Are you ok?” Daniel kinda smiles and nods, though its obvious he’s pretty confused about who tf they are.

It all gets explained, the two help him through his day to day and help him slowly regain most of his memories. Once he’s deemed ready for school they’re all a little hesitant to send him, bit hes determined to make it work.

He gets there, smiling and nodding at everyone who make eye contact with him. He doesn’t understand why they’re all avoiding him as if he has the plague but also doesn’t feel the need to try and find out.

Then there’s a group of guys yelling out his name, the sound of it a mix of confusion, anger and relief. Daniel turns toward them, smiles politely and waves as he greets them.

They all get confused, staring at him unsurely as the Blonde one speaks, “What the fuck is your problem?”

Daniel tilts his head for a moment before his eyes are widening slightly, “Oh are we friends? Sorry, i got into an accident a few weeks ago and lost my memories. I don’t remember much.”

He says it sheepishly, as if its his fault, and the guys all feel a stone drop in their stomachs at the news. They hadn’t meant to inflict any serious harm on the guy, only meant to fuck around and mess him up a bit or put a bit of fear in him cause it was funny.

There’s a moment where they try and play it off, thinking he’s just fucking with them to make them feel guilty but when Ali comes running over calling his name, and he does nothing more than give her the same friendly smile and greeting they know its not fake.

Sorry if it's boring, but continuing with LawRusso AU Johnny princess, I really like the "enchanted" movie and I can't stop thinking about Johnny being Giselle singing to the rats and cockroaches to clean Daniel and Sam's house lol

as a rule of thumb it is NEVER boring to send me asks, especially ones like these where i can have fun and think of AUs! and you picked a movie i love so this is just a win win for me!!

let’s get into it:

lawrusso enchanted AU is such a good idea im almost jealous i didn’t think of it myself!!

i think daniel and amanda got divorced amicably a few years ago and she still lives in los angeles but daniel moved back to jersey to be closer to lucille and he took sam with him (im imagining this as a story without anthony because it fits better, sorry anthony).

daniel still works as a divorce lawyer because that is just funny to me and it’s canon to the movie and he has this perpetual look of "im one shirt sleeve caught on a door handle away from snapping" look because being a single father is hard work and yeah, he and amanda co-parent but sam is with him most of the time and by moving here he’s always made himself more prone to special lucille larusso mother attacks of "you never visit even now that you’re so close" "you’re so skinny, do you cook actual food or just eat take out?" "are you coming for christmas? all your cousins will be there and also that nice girl you liked when you were a kid, judy? maybe it’s time to get back into dating, daniel!"

amanda has planned to come into the city to spend the holidays with her daughter and ex-husband and i see her as a platonic nancy role.

sam is in her full princess era and she’s making both her parents crazy with all the singing and dancing (and kicking furniture because she’s a karate princess)

meanwhile, in andalasia, johnny who is both prince(ss) and hero dreams of finding his one true love and sighs at his window. he’s been locked away in a tower by his evil step-dad kreese and he’s waiting for someone to come and save him (or at least just open the door of his magically locked tower because he can surely save himself).

carmen who happens to be a princess and hero herself has gone on a quest to save the lost prince of andalasia and with her help, johnny manages to escape the tower, defeat a forest troll and take back his throne from kreese’s claws. he and carmen tentatively get together (but deep down both feel this might not be the right fit for each other) and as johnny makes his way to his own royal wedding he’s sent to Real Life New Jersey and meets daniel and sam.

i kind of see giselle’s wedding dress for him but with pants for a more Realistic outfit but… screw realism i want johnny lawrence in that EXACT outfit!

also imagine scott mccall the equalizer soft mullet with a tiara, it’s just too good. ALSO imagine carmen IN THIS!!!!

you KNOW she would rock this!!

oh and yeeees, johnny summoning rats and insects in daniel’s apartment to clean and sam is SOOOOO excited because that’s a real life prince(ss) who also happens to be a great fighter and they do karate moves while also talking about johnny’s best friend, a chipmunk called bobby.

sam and johnny going on a shopping spree and buying a bunch of stuff and eating ice cream. johnny going to the hairdresser and having his hair cut to look more traditionally masculine (daniel doesn’t want to look into why it makes him sad) because he he keeps getting looks from people in the street for his dress and long hair.

johnny making clothes out of daniel’s curtains and daniel is all you could just ASK me for MY clothes you are not THAT much bigger than i am. johnny making a gi for sam out of pastel pink flower fabric from an old blanket and daniel is like okay… i have to admit that’s pretty adorable.

johnny in the park singing to daniel, who has been wondering if he should take his mom’s advice and try to get back with amanda, hoooow dooooes she knooooow you loooove heeeer (johnny stop, people are looking at us) and johnny has that giselle/animated princess innocence but there is still very much an edge of assholery to him where every time he can he embarrasses daniel as much as possible.

Johnny’s standing at the doorstep of Daniel’s apartment, eyes red and puffy, tears still streaming down his face. Sid kicked him out, almost hurt him before Johnny ran to the only place he knows: Daniel. He’d been knocking for a while, praying that somebody would answer.

“Daniel-san not home.” Miyagi comes up behind Johnny.

“I’m sorry. I’ll go then, just— don’t tell him I came by.”

“You do not look good. Come with me.” Miyagi takes Johnny down to his quaint little place. He sits him down and starts up some tea. Through Johnny’s still emotional state, he finally connects the dots. This is Miyagi, the old guy Daniel treats like a saint. He sees it now.

“Thank you, Mr. Miyagi. Sorry to bother you though.” Johnny sniffles as a cup of tea is brought to him.

“No bother. You are friend of Daniel-san, so you are friend to me too.” Miyagi sits next to Johnny with his own cup of tea. It’s relaxing. Johnny feels welcome.

“Feel better?”

“Kinda. I just– don’t know what to do. But now that I think about it, it’s stupid to have come here. Daniel wouldn’t want me here. I’m gonna go, maybe Sid will let me back in or something. I’m sorry.”

“No. You stay. If you need place to live you stay here. Daniel-san speak very highly about you. He will be home any minute.” Miyagi is a convincing guy, and Johnny stays. Part of him really does think about going back, trying to suck up to Sid again, but really he needs a safer home. Maybe Miyagi’s right, maybe Daniel would tolerate him living there.

And like magic, Daniel and his mother are home. Johnny hears it first, Daniel’s loud laugh, talking about something to his mother. Johnny feels a twist in his gut, suddenly nervous to show his face. Miyagi does it for him.

“Daniel-san! Your friend is here. He need you. Mrs. Larusso too.”

Daniel perks up immediately, like he does when he’s ready to fight, “Johnny?”

Inside, Johnny is gripping his cup of tea and holding his tears back; he doesn’t want Daniel to see him anymore.

Daniel runs in and immediately he’s at Johnny’s side.

“Hey man, what— what happened to you?” He can see the tears leaving tracks down Johnny’s cheeks, and he can’t stand it. He can’t have Johnny like this: hurt.

“Sorry.” Johnny can’t look him in the eye.

“Don’t be. Are you okay?” The worry in Daniel’s eyes is genuine. Johnny let’s everything go. The tears keep flowing and Johnny’s fighting to breathe through his sniffs. Daniel holds him close, and more hands come to hold him. Nobody pries at the situation, but he spews anyway.

“I don’t have anywhere to go. Sid– he almost… I can’t go back. I didn’t know what to do and you don’t have to let me stay but even if it’s just tonight I’d be so-“

“Johnny, you’re welcome as long as you like.” Lucille pulls Johnny’s head closer to her. Johnny can’t focus on anything but the touch he’s receiving, how welcoming it is and how much it feels like the family he’s never had but desperately needed.

“Are you sure?” Johnny chokes out, holding onto Daniel’s sweater and leaning into Lucille’s touch, all while Miyagi rests a hand on his shoulder comfortingly.

“Don’t think twice about it. We can work the finer things out later.” Daniel smiles. Johnny tugs on Daniel’s sweater.

“Yeah like clothes. Don’t think I can fit into yours.” He laughs, and Daniel smiles back with sincerity Johnny could never find anywhere else.

That night, wrapped in Daniel’s blankets, resting against his chest, Johnny feels safe. He’s welcome somewhere for once. He may feel guilty, but Daniel and Lucille are quick to put and end to it, because he’s one of them. (Lucille is exhilarated when Johnny and Daniel start dating. Young lawrusso wins)

(Miyagi also really loves Johnny too; he sees him like a son.)

Years later, Daniel proposes to Johnny on the same day Johnny planned on proposing to him (Daniel went ring shopping with Mr. Miyagi, and Lucille went ring shopping with Johnny—somehow they both kept their lips tight and didn’t tell each other about their sons’ plans), and Johnny practically jumped into Daniel’s arms when Daniel stood back up after he said yes, wrapping his legs around Daniel's waist, and kissing him meaningfully for a good minute, the ring Daniel got him shining on his finger, before steadying himself back up on his feet and getting on one knee in front of Daniel.

And one and a half years after that, Johnny turns over to look back at Daniel, who’s big spooning him in their bed, matching wedding bands comforting and snug around their fingers.

“What are you thinking about, LaRusso?”

Daniel hums contentedly. “Not much but you…LaRusso.”

Johnny smothers him in kisses.

1. the character everyone gets wrong

could go with so many but the root of it all is Miyagi. he's often treated like Karate Jesus in the sense that everyone expects him to be about forgiveness because of the dig two graves line I guess. it's a total misunderstanding of his philosophy that makes his character fall so flat when people bother to include him - honestly even Ralph's Human Yoda line, which also kind of makes me cringe, is a better understanding of Miyagi as a man with a history that shaped his understanding of his philosophy and how both of those shaped his relationship with Daniel, with Sato, with Yukie, even with Lucille and as we see later, with Amanda. He's so rarely given the dignity of being understood as a whole person - even and especially in comparison to the full fledged backstories and empathy provided to Kreese and Silver and OG Cobra #5.

Look. Not even touching what they said about Chozen bc we've already established the lack of empathy people have for certain characters. But that last one - I would love if this was true. You have no idea how much I'd love that. I miss enjoying lawrusso and that would have definitely helped me enjoy lawrusso but Johnny could not have cared less about Daniel in s5. They weren't enemies, they had no connection, he was an acquaintance at best. Daniel coming to him in desperation and getting a lecture that's fully just Johnny talking to himself - he never listens to Daniel, never hears him, never shows up in a way I thought he uniquely could.

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

That Johnny is actually the closest to a Miyagi parallel and the idea that 1) Carmen is going to have a miscarriage and 2) this is somehow equivalent to Miyagi coming home from fighting in a war he was coerced into to find his wife and child died because they weren't allowed to seek treatment because they were considered less than citizens bc of their country of birth. Actually infuriates me.

I think that they could hypothetically connect I guess, sure, except I think Miyagi would never need nor want to subject himself to a guy who makes jokes like 'lol you never taught him English'. (also a pet peeve is things where Miyagi chastises Daniel over having hesitations about Johnny like come on. He didn't even want to teach Daniel immediately, why does everyone think he's just been dying to open a Home for Lost Boys. Daniel helped him open up a bit but he's fundamentally an introvert). Everyone always forgets the bottle breaking scene & the fact that there's such thing as pragmatic pacifism as well.

There's some people who's response to microaggressions is to laugh with them, connect over it. There's no textual evidence for that to be Miyagi though, beyond people interpreting everything through a christian lens and expecting Good to be Endlessly Compassionate and Forgiving. For all the gritty realism people use to understand the motivations of other characters, there's very little engagement with how Miyagi's experiences affect how he navigates the world. But that goes back to the first question, I got a little off track.

DANIEL KEEPS A SCRAPBOOK. that is such an important and telling detail about him and no one gets it 😑

Daniel and Shannon's friendship but tbf the show kind of forgot about that too. I simply cannot believe she'd approach Johnny about her concerns about Silver, and not Daniel.

In general his relationships with women - I think it's actually super important and intentional that his final fight with silver is him flanked by Amanda and Carmen alone. I think Damanda in general is so underrated and I think him being divorced from her and chill with that or her resenting their relationship is so wildly ooc it's laughable. It also tends to turn Amanda into this humorless sitcom wife when honestly. I really do love what Courtney's done with her - she's sharp, she's goofy, she's competent, she's messy, she's funny, she gets it wrong sometimes and she keeps trying and honestly she and Daniel really are so similar to each other in how that relate to people. My favorite bit of acting from her this season was the entirety of the auction scene - her emotional journey was so believable, so authentic.

Time for The Karate Kid himself!!!

Warning to those who find it uncomfortable or are a minor there’s some adult themes in this post.

My boy is bisexual and he’s proud of it.

Daniel doesn’t really buy into toxic masculinity and gender norms he literally doesn’t care. If you think he’s weird for being emotional or not being what society thinks is the typical man than he will think you’re an idiot.

It’s clear that he is very attracted to blonde people (Johnny and Ali). The first time he saw Ali he was obviously smitten but I definitely think he was attracted to Johnny when he first saw him and was still attracted to him but obviously upset after he hurt him.

I’ve said that the rest of Cobra Kai (Bobby, Dutch, Tommy and Jimmy) were attracted to him too so I think that Daniel also found Bobby and Jimmy attractive but didn’t mention anything because they were all annoying him.

He felt conflicted about liking Johnny but also finding him irritating. He is proud of his sexuality but wasn’t too sure how Johnny would feel about someone being Queer let alone being attracted to him. He kept it quiet.

The first person he properly told was his mum. She was very supportive of him but also upset that she might’ve made him think he couldn’t tell her. He reassured her that it wasn’t that he just needed time. Lucille is always ready to defend her son from bigots.

Mr Miyagi had figured it out from the way Daniel looked at Ali and Johnny and noticed it was sometimes similar. He didn’t say anything until Daniel felt comfortable enough to tell him because he didn’t want to assume or pressure him.

Daniel definitely has a thing for strong and independent people and can’t help but feel connected to people when they challenge him.

He was really in love with Kumiko and I think even though lawrusso is my main ship they were the best of Daniel’s canon ships. They had a real connection and I think they brought out the best in each other.

Daniel was definitely attracted to Chozen even though he didn’t want to admit it when younger because he didn’t like him.

Daniel had a small crush on Silver before everything about him was revealed and Silver used this to his advantage to manipulate Daniel. Daniel was heartbroken for a number of reasons the day he found out it was all a lie.

He dated and hooked up with some guys once he got a little older and though he didn’t realise they all had a similar appearance to Johnny. Daniel was in denial about that and didn’t notice.

His relationship with Amanda was good and they loved each other but eventually drifted apart. Once he was divorced he started to develop feelings for Johnny again. I think he was very conflicted about his feelings for Johnny even once they were both older because they’d both changed a lot and had some much more problems to deal with.

I like to think that eventually they both get to a point where they can explore their feelings and attraction towards each other.

Daniel is very open with his kids about his sexuality and has always explained to them what it means. Sam once she got older bought him a pride flag and he found it cute that his daughter got him it so he keeps it in his office at work.

I think when it comes to his partners in bed whether they’re a man or a woman he isn’t the dominant type. He spends so much time in his normal everyday life trying to control things and feel organised that in bed he likes others to have a little control. It’s this way with Johnny the first time they sleep together and Johnny is really surprised that Daniel lets him take the lead when he’s usually so wound up.

He was quite happy the first time he referred to Johnny as his boyfriend because after so much conflict in their history together they were finally together.

He nearly cried when Johnny was the first one to say “I love you”.

Demetri confided in him about being Queer and Daniel was able to talk to him about it. He understood how scary it could be being Queer and the feelings you can have for someone. He felt good about being able to understand and help his students.

Miyagi Fang took him and Johnny to a pride parade which he really enjoyed. He’d been to a few before but being their with so many people he loves was amazing for him.

Just want to say this for all my fellow Lawrusso shippers but Daniel and Johnny definitely make out at least ten times a day. I mean they definitely only stop when they know someone is around. Their students and their friends find them annoying because they’re obsessed with each other and the only upside is in their obsession they no longer try to kill each other too but sometimes on days where their flirting and making out is too insufferable they almost think it was better when they obsessed over winning against each other.

They’re in love.

Daniel turns to look at him, tears streaming down his face. “She was my map, Johnny.”

Johnny doesn’t have anything to say. Nothing profound or comforting that will somehow make it hurt less.

He just takes Daniel into his arms and lets him cry all over his shirt.
