The Ocean Saga, warrior Penelope au edition

So it takes place pretty much straight up after their last adventure with the sirens, and things are not looking too good. For one, Scylla has decided to board another one of the ships because she has feelings about Penelope letting the sirens go, at Circe's suggestion. Second matter at hand is that they're being hit by an impossibly strong storm. Luckily enough though, Penelope manages to see an island in the sky, and she decides that's their best shot at getting out of the storm. Now, usually, she would have thought things more thoroughly or hesitated more, but she's still fired up from her talk to Ares and decides to wing it.

Now, Circe is like this is very out of character from you, what's going on, and she also tells her that she needs to be more careful with things before her luck runs out, but Penelope rebuffs her and decides to go through with the plan anyway.

So Penelope makes her way up the island in the sky and agrees to play a game with Aeolus to keep the wind bag closed but uh oh. She's on edge and paranoid so instead of trusting anyone she decides to stay awake for nine days and nights until they near the shore of Sparta***/ the port city with the road that will take them to Sparta but the sleep depravation catches up to her and she has a very nice dream where she's back home and she's with her faceless and voiceless son and husband standing far away from her just. Enjoying life. But just as she's about to reach and touch him, she gets pushed back into wakefulness by the whole ship shaking: someone has opened the wind bag. Penelope realizes what's happening just in time to see they were right by the shore, just about to dock. Close enough that she could see a man that looked just like her husband holding the hand of a young boy approaching the ships.

The ship gets blown off course to the literal middle of the ocean where they find a very angry, very scary looking goddess waiting for them. Immediately becomes worse when she zeroes in on Penelope, and hits her with the Penelope of Sparta, do you know who I am?

It becomes apparent soon enough that the glowering goddess is Amphitrite, wife of Poseidon, queen of the sea, the loud-moaning mother of every single thing that lives in her kingdom, and she's Angry at Penelope. Turns out the sirens from before were her handmaidens, and she's here to come and get revenge on their behalf. She gives a whole speech about the dishonor that she's committed, about ruthlessness and all, and then she sinks every sheep in her fleet except the one Penelope's in. Including the one Scylla was in. Just as it looks like Amphitrite is about to kill them all at last, Penelope manages to snatch the wind bag from wherever it fell and use it to escape Amphitrite by blowing their ship far, far away from there.

Coincidentally, landing right on the shore of a strange paradise island.

*** cannot stress this enough, but Sparta is land locked so this is very much subject to be revised to make sense into the story somehow

Wooooo the rest of the team is finally done! Overall they didn't change nearly as much as Okoru, but I made a lot of changes in the little details and I like these designs a lot more :)

Uhhh ill put rambles under the cut bc the images already kinda make this a long post and ik most ppl probably dont care abt this stuff but I like talking about it! <:D

I tried a lot harder to make Kare + Sunai and Haji + Okoru look plausibly like siblings, aaand I think it's at least better? They have a few little nods to each other if you look hard enough :) I also tried to make them look less like the real world counterparts they were based off of, although tbh they still look too similar for my liking... oh well TwT

I was reaaally conflicted about changing Kare's weapon, and tbh I still am? But the ice cream ball was just too obscure and didn't really fit </3 Oh well, what's done is done...and probably nobody but me cares about this JKSDGLJSDG

I also actually drew the Hideout this time!! (Neighbor's Room equivalent) It turns out that I really like drawing areas as like concept art but not backgrounds lol so you'll probably see more of that? Maybe?

I know Doubloons sounds really. Cheesy??? But like its the quintessential pirate money ok it can't be anything else

Ummm and lastly... normally I'd leave this to other people to possibly figure out but I highly doubt anyone's going to get this one SO Esha is Jori's dog and he named him after his favorite drink, Esha Jo' :) Briefly mentioned in Jori's Guide to Favorite Drinks WAYYY back JKLSDJG
