like it makes sense for all that to be on the home page why the fuck is it in search results?? im sure this is super old news i just havent needed to look past the first 3ish results in so long i had no idea how impossible it is to find anything that wasnt posted like. yesterday.

my favorite little thing in until dawn is the picture of the scarecrow and its importance to josh; how it's found in hannah's room and how it's actually a halloween invitation from sam. it just makes me think of the why. and this is totally an over analysis lol i just love the opening therapy sequence post prologue
bc we know josh rly Isn't in a therapy office. so if i were to expand on the beginnings before everything went to shit that night: i think josh is probably in hannah's room, it's the morning or evening (as we can see through the office window), and he's probably just staring at this photo and overthinking about it/losing himself into it
i would write it as him giving himself a therapy session to analyze why it could make him uncomfortable: is it the scarecrow? no. is it the fact that i'm alone? yes. because he is alone at that point. or it could be the fact that it's merely in hannahs room
idk i just love that little picture bc it like. allowed me to expand on it in writing. which i love doing

Three Houses vs. Engage
I LOVED Three Houses. I loved the characters and their interactions. I thought the story was very compelling and they did a great job getting you invested in characters. I watched a million let’s plays of it to get every bit of content. HOWEVER.
Three Houses was not some tour-de-force of video game writing. I’m sorry, but it wasn’t. It had silly, tropey moments. The political aspects and power dynamics were very surface level and really didn’t explore very deeply. For some reason, you’re on the ‘right’ side of history no matter what side you take. And don’t give me any BS about “Well, every side thinks they are on the right side”. Then why didn’t the game explore the actual ramifications of that? It was surface level. The other side just went crazy and that was your reason they were wrong. And don’t get me started on how they explore oppression.
Even though characters had depth, most of the time that depth was literally said out loud by their character instead of being shown through actions. I can’t even remember if they TRIED to give the protagonist any personality, that’s how little they had input.
AGAIN, I LOVED Three Houses. I am not trying to hate on it. That doesn’t mean it had no flaws.
Now, Engage comes out and it is the low-hanging fruit. It’s very easy to see the wild character designs and scoff and say “Oh they didn’t try”.
IT. IS. NOT. A. BAD. STORY.
Just like Three Houses, it has it’s flaw, yes. But it is super fun and campy. The characters are all great. They are so much fun to watch.
This honestly feels like that stupid “happy endings aren’t realistic” shit that was going around when we had all those gritty reboots of media properties. Writing characters who get along and are nice is NOT BAD WRITING.
The protagonist is nice and a little scared because he suddenly has to be IN CHARGE OF A WAR EFFORT AFTER JUST WAKING UP BECUASE HIS MOTHER DIED. The amount of people who call Alear boring with no hint of irony and then laud Three Houses, I just can’t.

am noticing peach making a lot of speculative remarks throughout spm (identifying bonechill as the ringleader, blumiere as someone from tippi’s possible past) and like yeah the game has spoonfed u those context clues at that point but outside of that i like the idea of luigi pulling her behind after that last comment all like ‘actually..shes mentioned that name before, something about stopping blumiere. she was real flustered about that slip-up too, but i didnt want to say anything (when he was placing the 6th pure heart in its pillar)’ in a way that could immedietley parallel dimentio bringing that exact observation up to the count.
mayb i just want to squeeze some peach+luigi investigative bonding in what little time hes there but anyway. ya. (i need every beat in spm to play out like an anime in my head for some reason)

Watching a playthrough of Yuppie Psycho. The LPer gave Mr. Hugo a Patrick Star voice. Never have I felt more validated knowing that someone else out there also thinks that Bill Fagerbakke would be a good fit for Mr. Hugo.

Every Year we approach spooky season and every year... I tell a new person to watch this Illbleed let's play by Supergreatfriend. and YES it's 13 years old and YES it comes from a point in time where videos had to be short so every episode is broken into three but LISTEN
It's so good. This game is completely insane and he goes out of his way to make sure you don't miss a moment of it. I promise it's worth the time.
Just--just watch the first few minutes of this video and watch the trailer for the game. It's so fucking wild.
