By a stroke of unexpected blessing, I acquired an actual in-store copy of LoZ: Tears of the Kingdom! Behold!

And the natural first thing to do was inform my niece and nephew who are also avidly awaiting it. This was quickly followed by impromptu arrangements for a Cool Aunt Sleepover including said niece and nephew and also another niece and nephew. We took turns playing through the intro and exploring the first map and completely lost track of time! And now, slightly out of context potential spoilers under the cut as I recount our reactions and my favorite moments of the night:

[Link crawling on the ceiling like a lizard while Older Nephew searches for Clues] Zelda: Oh! Link, the master sword is glowing! [Link back on the ground, but tbf she totally could have noticed the sword glowing while he was crawling on the ceiling]

“[Older Nephew], can you PLEASE keep moving?” “I need to click Zelda a fifth time to make sure we got all the dialogue!”

Awwwwww ZELDA IS A LIL HISTORY NERD BLESS HER HEART

“Those rocks are definitely patterned like breakable rocks. I bet we can come back later and break them.” “Yeah they are you’re probably right.” (We were not right.)

Older Nephew: “Just what is Ganon smoking for there to be so much? He must have horrible lung problems.”

Me, totally nervous about upcoming creepy scene: “[Younger Nephew] you’re gonna need to leave pretty soon, this next scene is probably gonna be SUPER CREEPY” (It was indeed creepy but nowhere NEAR as creepy as I expected from the trailers, altho I did close my eyes for the one head-turning part, dont judge me)

Older Nephew: “Yeah, dead Ganon. Ganon without water. Dehydrated Ganon.”

“SO THAT’S HOW THEY RESET HIS STATS”

[Everyone to Younger Nephew] “You can come back in now!”

“Where did his shirt go?” “Magic” “Why are his PANTS gone?” “No idea”

[After finding pants] “Did we miss his shirt?!” [The quest for a shirt continues]

“The portal is down there—“ “I KNOW I’m EXPLORING”

Link really just walked up to a giant drop into open air without his parasail and went “Time to yeet,” no answers given and no questions asked. Classic.

“Giant lilypads!”

“I found a STICK!”

“NEW MUSHROOMS!!!”

[Everyone while Older Niece was breaking pots] “Destroy ancient relics! Demolish personal property for cash! Commit vandalism!”

Older Niece decides her talents are better served livetexting our progress on Discord.

Younger Niece is delighted that the new fuzzy race have big wing-shaped ears like her original character and is now calling Rauru her grandfather.

“I bet you can ride the emus!” (You can’t and I’m still mad about it)

[While I am searching a tree for eggs] Older Nephew: “Are there any eggs? Do we get to consume a bird’s children-to-be?”

Younger Nephew ends turn early because he hasn’t learned how to hit yet and there is an enemy robot RIGHT OVER THERE. Understandable, really.

Older Nephew slides down to explore dangerous ledge hovering over the abyss. Younger Nephew, repeatedly: “This is dumb.” Me: “Yeah, it is.” Older Nephew: [finds a hidden chest] Me: “Never mind!”

Older Nephew has dubbed first hand power Magic Superglue. I don’t remember what it’s actually called, so apparantly it stuck (ha!)

“THE KOROKS ARE BACK!” [cheering]

The children cheering me on as I fuse six giant blocks into SUPER BRIDGE

Accidentally glueing comically small-by-comparison crate to the very corner of Super Bridge

Younger Niece gets jumpscared by an emu BOLTING out of the trees RIGHT AT THE SCREEN. Gameplay paused while room recovers from laughing fits.

“We can FUSE STUFF INTO NEW WEAPONS?!! This is the BEST THING EVER!!!” [Older Nephew and Younger Niece conduct rigorous experiments resulting in some actually cool weapons, a stambulb arrow, and an apple stick.]

REVENGE OF YOUNGER NEPHEW: Comes out of shrine and destroys a robot in two hits with Boulder Sword.

[After 2 1/2 hours] “WE FOUND HIS SHIRT!!!” [cheering]

“You hit the fans to make them work!” [Older Nephew forgets to unequip ax and obliterates half the raft]

Utterly delighted over discovering the glow seed arrow trick myself while ineffectively trying to kill a robot.

Younger Niece: “How come you always find the eggs?” Me: I’m just that good. It’s because I own birds.”

[Group hilarity] “MINE CART SHIELD!”

[Group insanity] “MINE CART HAMMER!!!!”

And that’s when I looked at the clock and realized it was 1:30 in the morning, so we wrapped up and went to bed. AND A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!

LoZ: Wild - Gerudàn Cuisine

Ya'll, I have a frankly dumb amount of recipe ideas for the Wild Series.

Part of it has to do with the idea that, in Link's house, he could cook more complex recipes, including 2nd Tier Ingredients. Which are ingredients made of other basic ingredients. A number of these 2nd Tier Ingredients could be used to substitute multiple base ingredients in a recipe, thus giving you more room to work with.

He'd also be able to cook in bulk, which is something I feel like is holding the cooking system in the Wild Series back.

Another idea I had was that the more you cook, the better you get at it, thus the more ingredients you can use in a recipe.

So, Link would start with only being able to use 5 at a time, but the amount can increase up to 6, then 7-8. Then, maybe even 10.

The list itself isn't complete in any capacity.

* Will be beside recipes & effects that already exist in canon.

※ Will be beside things that were planned to be part of the official series at one point, but for whatever reason, what cut.

☆ Will be beside things that existed in previous games, but not the Wild Series.

★ Will be beside things that were in some way inspired by other games or shows.

⚙ Will be beside processed ingredients. A lot of such ingredients are the sort of thing that just needs more time, as such, to get it, you need to buy it from a shop that carries it. However, if you do the shopowners a favor, then they might give you a discount if you provide the ingredients, this way the Rupees will be made up for in the next batch.

Now, typically, you can just sort of throw wheat into a soup & just make crap. But, IRL this would be evidence of a crazy person, but Imma work with it & say that Link probably has a millstone mortar & pestle in his pack with him. Who knows, maybe Rhoam gave it to him when he taught Link to cook?

At the same time, I'm making it so that, yes, you can do it that way & good on Link for being self-reliant, but I also think that Mr. “What's the difference between bear meat & cow meat? It's all meat” wouldn't exactly… know how best to make flour either.

So, yes, it's something he can do, but… flour milled by someone who knows the sort of consistency to grind the flour into would likely be better than Link's. So, I see it giving more hearts when used to cook.

Maybe if Link gets a sidequest to help a Miller, where he makes food with Tabantha Wheat, then the man will be outraged & show him the best consistency to make flour.

If so, then he'll no longer need to get flour for that extra boost &, in fact, he'll start to auto-mill Tabantha Wheat again, but this time, it'll restore more health than store bought due to how freshly milled flour has more nutrients.

Some 2nd Tier Ingredients use the same ingredients, but the end result depends on which kitchen utensil is used to make it. For instance, Pastry Dough & Soup Stock are both made with the same basic ingredients, but you get Pastry Dough using a Rolling Pin & Soup Stock using a Pot. In this way, it would sort of soft block certain recipes behind a specific kitchen utensil.

Kitchen Items:

Cooking Pot, Rolling Pin, Mortar & Pestle (later upgraded to a Spice Grinder), Food Mill, Crank Blender, White Frying Pan, Zonaite Brewing Keg, Brick Oven, Saucepan, Cheesecloth, Hōchō-Kaku (A full Sheikah knife set in a knife block), Makisu (a sushi mat), Oil Distillery, Fermentation Jar, & Frost Box (basically a fridge/freezer that uses Ice Runes).

Gathering these things also have another affect. They improve the quality & effectiveness of your final dish, as well as increase the likelihood of getting cooking crits.

Also, unless certain ingredients are specifically listed in the name, many ingredients can be substituted for another one from the same category or sub-category. The ingredients listed here are just how the specific settlement makes it.

☆Acro = Wall Climb Speed Up. - EoW: Climbing.

Aerodynamic = Skydive Control Up.

Amorous = Aphrodisiac. This is a secondary effect, allowing it to remain even after being cooked with something else. (This is mostly for flavor & wouldn't actually do anything in a game setting. Though, it specifically only activates when a sufficient level of dopamine & norepinephrine is found in the body, it can likewise be cured when a sufficient enough supply of oxytocin is introduced into the bloodstream or by simply avoiding those who cause such reactions until the Amorous food has made its way out of their system. So, it only takes effect if in the presence of someone you legit are attracted to & are in love with, which is why Link wouldn't be affected. He's Zelda's & it'd only work on him in her presence. It also doesn't work on anyone who hasn't finished puberty. It's also known to increase the possibility of reproduction.)

Erogenous = Aphrodisiac. Unlike Amorous, Erogenous needs no emotional attraction for it to work. In this way, it's actually much more dangerous. (Would not appear in games beyond the story. Known to increase the possibility of reproduction.)

Battle Ready = Hearty, Enduring, & Mighty all in one. (This effect isn't natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the residents of specific places.)

*Biting = Cold Weather Attack.

☆Bubble = Hold Breath Underwater For Longer.

- Gills = Breathe Underwater. This is a Hidden Effect. You can’t normally access a Hidden Effect without certain Infusion techniques.

*Dark/Warding = Gloom Resistance.

Depths Stride = Dark/Warding & Glow at once. (This effect isn't natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the residents of the Depths.)

Dawing/Dusky = Twilight Blade Attack Up. (Doubles the damage dealt by Sheikah weaponry, Moonlight Scimitars, knives, sickles, & scythes by generating a crepuscular razor, thus dealing twilight damage. Sheikah weaponry fused with Silver Lizalfos Horns deal thrice as much damage as normal. And using them at night, under the moon, quadruples it. However, the higher the multiplier, the more quickly time to use it will run down, though using them under the full moon tends to stave this effect off just a bit. Keep that in mind! Twilight also deals extra damage to undead enemies & Poes, this sets the spirit trapped inside free & results in a Poe Soul. Twilight damage is also noted to be purifying, so defeating Wolfos, Furnix, Bullbos, & Iron Knuckle enemies with Twilight purifies them, thus returning them to their natural state.)

Dreamy = Sleep Induction. This is a secondary effect, allowing it to remain even after being cooked with something else. (More for story flavor as somnolents just make you sorta sleepy &, thus, won't just knock Link out cold. Actual gameplay uses would only be included when you use Fuse Weapon to attach the item to an arrow or other weapon, which I'm saying concentrates & amplifies the effects, which allows you to knock enemies out cold. Without the Fuse Weapon rune, you'd need to make a concentrated sleep extract to apply to the arrow/weapon tip by hand. By default, Dreamy items don't work against boss or mini-boss enemies. However, if you go to sleep in a bed within an hour of being affected by Dreamy, you'll get bonuses when you wake up.)

Potent Dreamy = Powerful Sleep Induction. This is a secondary effect, allowing it to remain even after being cooked with something else. (Unlike Dreamy, Potent Dreamy will absolutely knock Link the fuck out. It's basically a tranquilizer. Note that only the scent of a Mawkap will wake him up afterwards.)

Eclating/Glaring = Light Blade Attack Up. (Doubles the damage dealt by swords, knives, axes, sickles, & scythes by generating a cutting light thus dealing light damage. Light-based weapons such as the White Sword of the Sky, the Master Sword, the Sword of the Six Sages, the Bow of Light, & other such weapons deal triple damage. And, damage dealt from using a Light Weapon fused with a Light Dragon part is quadrupled. However, the higher the multiplier, the more quickly time to use it will run down. Keep that in mind! Light attacks also deal extra damage to dark enemies. Light damage is noted to be purifying, so defeating Wolfos, Furnix, Bullbos, & Iron Knuckle enemies with Light purifies them, thus returning them to their natural state.)

*Electro = Shock Resistance.

*Enduring = Adds Stamina.

*Energizing = Restores Stamina.

*Fireproof = Fire Resistance.

- Lava Guard = Fireproof, Chilly, & Rapid. Allows one to swim in lava. The only individual ingredients that can have this are those that can literally survive in lava. (This effect isn't normally natural to a single ingredient, but can also be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the Gorons & Mogma of Gorondia.)

Fortune = Great Deal. Briefly increases the amount of rupees you get for selling things.

Freezeproof = Freeze Resistance.

☆Piping-Hot = Freezeproof & Spicy. A Hidden Effect. You can’t normally access a Hidden Effect without certain Infusion techniques.

Frost Guard = Spicy, Freezeproof, Biting, & Snowdrift at once. Or Piping-Hot, Biting, & Snowdrift. (This effect isn't natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the residents of Hebra & Ealiyah Town.)

*Glow = Glow.

*Hasty = Speed Up.

Sanddrift = Sand mobility up & prevents from sinking in quicksand.

Snowdrift = Snow mobility up & prevents you from sinking in deep snow.

*Hearty = 1-5 Extra Hearts.

Hydrophilic = Gills & Rapid at once. (This effect isn't natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the Zora. Also pairs swimingly with Zora weaponry.)

*Icy/Chilly = Heat Resistance.

Lightningproof = Nullifies Lightning.

Lightning Guard = Lightningproof & Stormy/Charged at once. (This effect isn't natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the residents of Faron, Ordona, & the Gerudo Desert.)

*Mighty = Attack Up.

Nucturnepid - Can see farther in darkness.

Photosynthesis = Sunny & Recovery at once. Allows you to slowly recover hearts over time so long as you're in direct sunlight or under a Lightroot, even if those hearts are effected by Gloom. (This effect isn't normally natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the Mogma.)

※Puissant = Allows one to jump twice. (Turns out that a Twice Jump cooking effect was cut from the final TotK game. So, you gotta know that I'll be effing with that!)

Pyrophilic = Flameproof & Scorching at once. (This effect isn't natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the residents of Eldin & Gorondia.)

*Rapid = Swim Speed Up.

Recovery = Allow someone to slowly recover hearts over time.

- Revitalizing = Recovery & Enduring at once. The key here is it's a time-based stamina recovery thing rather than just something that gives you a set amount of stamina & then stops. Plus, it won't stop when you reach max. (This effect isn't normally natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the Hearth Magi. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the residents of specific places.)

☆Reforge = Repairs Weapon or Shield, but must be applied directly.

☆Auto Reforge = Automatically repairs Weapon or Shield upon breaking.

Revival = Revives after death with 8 hearts. (Only Fairies & recipes that require Fairies have this effect. Don't worry, no Fairies are harmed during this process. The only thing used is the Fairies' dust.)

Full Revival = Revives after death with full ♡s +1-10 extra ♡s. (This effect isn't natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the residents of specific places. If you get a crit while cooking, you'll also get up to 10 extra hearts as well.)

Riptide = Water Spear/Blade/Whip Attack Up. (Doubles spear & blade damage by generating a pressurized stream of water, thus dealing water damage. Spears fused with Silver Lizalfos Horns or swords with Water Lizalfos Horns do triple damage. Also pairs swimmingly with Zora weaponry as they do triple. Weapons fused with Silver or Water Lizalfos Horns, Water Lizalfos Tails, Opals, or Pearls do triple as well. But Zora weaponry fused with Silver or Water Lizalfos Horns, Water Lizalfos Tails, Opals, or Pearls do quadruple. However, the higher the multiplier, the more quickly time to use it will run down. Keep that in mind! Though, being in the water will mitigate the effects.)

*Scorching = Heat Weather Attack.

*Sneaky = Stealth Up.

Shadow Sneak = Dark/Warding & Sneaky at once. Stealth increases even more in darkness. (This effect isn't natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the residents of Kakariko.)

*Spicy = Cold Resistance.

*Sticky = Grip Up.

*Stormy/Charged = Stormy Weather Attack.

*Sunny = Heals Gloom Damage.

Sun Guard = Chilly, Hydrating, Scorching, & Sanddrift at once. (This effect isn't natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs. Or via well-guarded cultural secret known only to the residents of Gerudo Desert.)

Tenebrating = Dark Blade Attack Up. (Doubles the damage dealt by Sheikah/Yiga weaponry, Gloom weaponry, sickles, & scythes by generating a vicious dark force, thus dealing dark or shadow damage. Sheikah/Yiga weaponry fused with dark monster parts triples the damage dealt. And using a dark-fused Sheikah-Yiga weapon at night or in the dark quadruples it. However, the higher the modifier, the more quickly time to use it will run down. Keep that in mind! Though, the higher though using them under the new moon or in complete darkness seems to mitigate this to an extent.)

*Tough = Defence Up.

☆Vitality = Temporary Stamina Use Reduction.

Max Vitality = Max Energizing & Stamina can be used freely for a certain amount of time. (This effect isn't natural to a single ingredient & can only be achieved via special recipes, using special cooking techniques known only to the best chefs.)

Windshear = Wind Blade Attack Up. (Doubles the damage dealt by swords, knives, axes, sickles, & scythes by generating a cutting wind, thus dealing wind damage.)

An Effect that is sectioned off via a : is a Hidden Effect, meaning that it requires Infusion by a Hearth Mage to access.

For the sake of my own sanity, I'm gonna increase the ingredient limit to 7-10.

Also, when you use different ingredients with the same effect, it provides some sort of bonus. Whether it be increasing the amount of time an effect lasts or the level of the effect itself depends on the effect as well as whether it is a dish or a potion & the sorts of ingredients that you use.

Also, 💧, 💦, 🌧, & 🌊 indicates how Hydrating something is.

Hydrating = Keep Soaked Twice As Long. This is a secondary effect, allowing it to remain even after being cooked with something else. Also pairs swimmingly with Zora weaponry.

Likewise, ❤️, 🩵, ☠️, & 🍵 are similarly interesting as they also exist outside of the typical Effects.

❤️ Health = Just how many hearts you recover from eating it.

🩵 Redintegrating = Restores magical energy.

☠️ Toxic = Inflicts Poison. Slowly reduces health over time. (Note that certain Toxic ingredients can be prepared specially to be made edible or to make things like medicines.)

🍵 Detox = Helps one fight back against toxins by cutting down on the damage done by said toxins as well as the time until those toxins get out of their system. Can also be used in cooking with Toxic ingredients to negate the Toxic effect. However, it takes a degree of toxicological/botanical/medical knowledge to do so. Also, the higher the toxicity, the higher the Detox effect needs to be in order to counteract it.

Special Attention: Whenever a recipe says "Any Butter," just assume that that also includes Browned Butter. Likewise, whenever a specific type of butter, such as Ordon Butter or Lon Lon Butter, is called for, that also includes their Browned variants.

The reason for this is because Browned Butter is just an overall improvement on regular butter & can be used in damn near anything. From savory, to sweet, to vegetables.

It's just a simple way to elevate your cooking.

Of course, there is also an in-game reason. The better quality the ingredients you use, the better the results you get from the final product with a higher chance of getting crits.

In Kàra Kàra Bàzaar, the Stand sells 2 Electric Safflina, 7 Hydromelons 🌧, & 5 Oil Jars.

While in Gerudo Town, the Fruit Stand sells 3 Voltfruit, 3 Hydromelons 🌧, & 3 Palm Fruit 💦. The Mushroom Stand sells 1 Razorshroom, 1 Ironshroom, 1 Sunshroom, 1 Zapshroom, & 1 Chillshroom. And the Grain Stand sells 2 Rock Salt, 3 Tabantha Wheat, & 2 Hylian Rice.

Voltfruit, Hydromelon 🌧, Shock Fruit 💧 (Charged/Stormy), Warm & Electric Safflina, Spicy Peppers, Zapshrooms, Desert Aloe 💧 (Chilly & Recovery), Prickly Peaches 💧 (Erogenous & Hydrating), Boltshield Houseleek (Lightningproof), Brushberries 💧 (Sanddrift), Rainfall Pansies 💧, Moonblooming Argus (Dawning/Dusky), & Sàbaar Fruit (Recovery) are all very common in the Gerudo Desert with Palm Fruit, Dune Ants, Amorous Fig (Amorous) trees, Jànnulitza (Aerodynamic), Oasis Honey 💧 (Recovery), & Sāqmàla Honey (Erogenous 2 & Vitality) largely appearing in the Oasis.

And, while you wouldn't expect it, Bayou Bellpeppers, Freshwater Cucumbers 💧 (Rapid), Water Cabbages 💧 (Bubbles), & Swamp Celery all grow fine there, so long as they're grown in freshwater. As such, they're cultivated in the Oasis at Kàra Kàra, as well as a number of Vai in Gerudo Town having their own hydroponic gardens where they raise them.

And though the method by which Tough Mangoes had been lost for millenia, recent advances in desert agriculture has allowed Gerudàn botanists to revive the long lost fruit. It is now farmed in the once named Toruma Dunes, now called Toruma Orchard, in honor of the ancient xeroculturist who originally brought them to the Gerudo.

Along with them, you'll also find Wasteland Coyotes, Sand Sparrows, Sandrunner Ostriches, Shimmering Mayflies (Fortune), Scarab Beetles, Sand Cicadas (Sanddrift), Quick Darners (Hasty), & Firesting Scorpions (Scorching).

There is also Wave Saffron (Gills), Barricade Cloves (Tough), Gleam Ginger (Sunny), Mother of Millions (Erogenous 3), Passion Lily (Scorching & Amorous), as well as Hoy Mustard Greens & Seeds (Spicy) growing in the region, but the Saffron can only be found in the Gerudo Canyon, near the edge of the Faron Sea.

They also have Arrōyorice (Sanddrift), but it's still a very new crop to them & they're still working out how best to grow it.

They can also grow Sun Pumpkins (Sunny), Shadow Yams (Dark/Warding), Hylian Tomatoes 💧, Càrïtàn Beans (Toxic), Pyre Beans (Scorching), Endura Carrots, & Tabantha Wheat in the desert.

Though, the Càrïtàn Beans aren't for eating, so much as for feeding silkworms which produce the fine, luxurious silks that the Gerudo are so well-known for. However, they are also used for making bathing oils.

Gerudo Town also regularly trades with Ealiyah Town, Ordon Town, & Lurelin Village for goods. And due to Ealiyah's close proximity, whenever a recipe requires dairy products, they always opt for the Ealiyan's Yak products, or Bōsa. Though, due to having Bighorn Sheep, they also have immediate access to Sheep dairy products which are called Ghanam. The products being Ghamïchaa (Sheep Milk), Ghasudrï (Sheep Butter), & Ghachurkha (Sheep Cheese), while Bōsa products are Bōmïchaa (Yak Milk), Bōsudrï (Yak Butter), & Bōchurkha (Yak Cheese). Wild Ordon Goats also tend to migrate from Ordona during certain seasons, which also gives the Gerudo infrequent access to Ordon products themselves. They also have a few Dunerunner Ostriches & Oasis Peacocks, which gives them access to Bird Eggs & Ostrich Eggs.

Gerudo Town also makes good use of the Cool Safflina & Chillshrooms that they get from trading with Ealiyah.

The rice is very specifically made in the same pan with the rest of the ingredients, which imbeds the flavor into everything. First, make the broth by sautéing the Stambulbs & bellpeppers in oil until soft & fragrant, add spices, brown Cucco on all sides, then pour broth on top along with Tomato paste. Mix the Oil with salt, saffron, Stambulb, & Goron Spice. After which place Cucco pieces from the broth in pan & coat with oil & spice mixture until crisp & golden. Then toast the nuts. Then, soak the rice, drain, & cook it in the Cucco Broth. Finally, assemble altogether by layering the Cucco on top of the rice & garnish with nuts. - Gerudo equivalent to Dejaj Machbous.

Boltbutton Sliders (Stormy 3) = Langostail (Riptide)/Zapshroom, Ordona Cheese, Starlight Rosemary (Glow), Gleam Ginger (Sunny), Calmomile (Dreamy), Shock Juice (Stormy), Thunder Button (Stormy), & Wave Saffron (Gills). - As the Calamity took place, these delectable sliders were discovered when a traveling chef was caught in a storm. Running low on supplies, he used the caps of the mushrooms as bread with the cheese sandwiched between, believing that would work well together along with some rosemary & a couple other ingredients. However, he'd nearly been sundered by the heavens themselves. Only to find in the bolt's wake, a singular, crisped mushroom with perfectly melted cheese oozing out the sides. He's noted as saying that the taste was like a shock to the senses. He became obsessed with replicating the flavor experience. It's later learned that it might be due to fungi's strange affinity to electrical currents, which can be used to improve mushroom yield. He is later noted to have bonded with a lovely Gerudo lady who appeared to be a budding mycologist. - Inspired by Pixar's Ratatouille & the mission with the wandering chef at Diggdogg Suspension Bridge at the entrance to Gerudo Canyon in AoC.

|| Okieee, still thinking about adding that one BotW/TotK oc....so I'm going to drop some facts about her and let you guys vote on your opinion on whether or not I should add her!! Please answer with your honest opinion. I hate adding characters, thinking that people will write with them, but then no one does..!! So if you guys think it will be worth it (and that you will interact with her), please let me know!! Otherwise, you don't need to spare my feelings~

Polls are very important on this blog, so even if this fandom doesn't apply to you, PLEASE STILL VOTE!! There will be an option for that!! okay onto the actual info~ (the poll will be at the bottom so if this doesn't apply to you, just scroll to the bottom to vote XDD)

Yumi is a BotW (and i guess now TotK) oc who acts as Link's companion in his travels~ She is an excellent archer and has sheikah slate-like abilities (which are everything in the OTHER menu, so she can store things like an inventory, check on missions, and even save and reload~).

At the beginning of the game, Link finds Yumi in the Great Plateau. As far as she's aware, she has lived her whole life on the Great Plateau, but for some reason can't actually remember having a family. She just knows how to use a bow and arrow exceptionally well and has a medallion that she wears around her neck of unknown origins. She just assumed something happened to her family and her memory is blocking it out.

After meeting Link and doing the stuff on the Great Plateau, she realizes that her medallion (which has the Sheikah symbol on it) has abilities of its own. She can cryogenically freeze items and transport them into her medallion (as if it turns the items into code or something and stores it), she can create a holographic to-do list of sorts, and she has the option to "save" and "load", but she doesn't understand what that means until about halfway through the game.

Further in the game (possibly when they meet Impa or maybe once Link regains all of his memories) Yumi learns the truth about her origins. Apparently, she was Impa's youngest daughter (aunt to Paya) but died at 17-18 years old. Unlike Link who was resurrected from the brink of death, Yumi was dead for years. Purah and Robbie found a way to reconstruct her body, making her into an artificial human, and "resurrected" her. Unlike Link, she can't unlock her memories. It's like she never had them to begin with. When she was "reborn", it was like she became someone else who simply looked and acted like who she once was. It was a miracle that she was brought back at all, so now Impa has entrusted her with the responsibility of aiding Link on his quest.

I don't know much about what I want her to do in TotK, but I think she'd still be Link's partner and she'd still have her medallion.

My plan isn't to have her interact with BotW Links tbh, but I wouldn't mind plotting with some and having interactions. Instead, I'm more interested in her interacting with other characters that she meets on their shared journey. You guys know that changing canon (unless it's a straight-up AU) makes me feel weird, so I may shy away from Links with her just bc her presence does make the story canon divergent. Soooo....sorry about that XDD

may give her a genshin verse....if i do add her XDD

Good things that have happened this weekend:

1. I managed to call my bank and got an issue sorted out (it was a minor thing and took like, 2 mins to figure out lol) and the ppl at my bank are always super nice and helpful :) (it was a misunderstanding but I originally thought the last job I did didn’t pay me, and the person I talked to was getting heated abt it on my behalf and that was very nice even tho that turned out not to be the issue ahah 😭)

2. I had two different really nice convos with cashiers at stores. With the first person we talked abt loz which. 3. yesterday I got to go to a relatives house and pet and hold some chickens they have and hang out with one of my baby cousins briefly, and that was really fun bc she’s like 5 and was excitedly showing me all her lil toys 😭 the chicks I held were soo small and I could feel their lil heartbeats and I about CRIED. Babies… (I also held their hamster and pet the cat and we saw a lot of cows, donkeys, horses and dogs on the drive there since it’s farm land…and u kno I had my window rolled down screaming joyfully to them all that I love them)

4. today me and my mom tie dyed some shirts and a hoodie and it’s my first time doing that so I’m very excited to see how they turn out!! Hopping they look cool, we just kinda did scrunching instead of actual twisty patterns or anything fancy, but I am excited anyway! It’ll be a few more hours until they’re done but I’m like 👀

5. it’s been warming up here and it’s sooo sunny and nice out today ☺️ I’m so ready and excited for spring!!! My fav season!!!

6. My mom made a delicious pineapple upside down cake and I had it for breakfast and there is no better breakfast than a Cake Slice. But I also made an omelette and had a breakfast for lunch situation and it was just about the most picturesque omelette I have ever made, it was BEAUTIFUL (and tasted very very good)

7. Drinking out of the mug one of my bffs sent me and it’s so cute and the perfect size 🥺 it’s def my new favorite mug ❤️

8. I managed to finish a drawing! Nothing huge or with a bg, but it’s so nice to get over my art block a bit. Going to wait a while to post it since I’d like my latest drawing to be at the top of my art blog for a while, but I’m proud of myself for managing to draw!

Since my weekly dnd group is on hiatus for a few weeks I'm just gonna blab all my dm secrets and plot stuff to y'all.

If you are reading this, player that I know sees my blog occasionally, you better not be. I have a mecha Cthulhu stat block raring to go and I know you like your tiefling.

ANYWAY...

A while ago I introduced an interesting NPC into my campaign. Originally... It was supposed to be a proto-deity that exists in a different setting that I write in (The Chains That Join Us, or Sen-Boral... The Flip universe). But I had not finalized the pantheon for that setting when I introduced this NPC.

The NPC is a mutative celestial names Sevass. If you read my serial fantasy novel, you might be familiar with her via the last little bit of lore dropping I did about constellations in that world. Because, in that world, Sevass is the goddess of stars and magic... And one of the most powerful creatures in that universe, but also the most docile.

When I introduced Sevass in Pensos, however... She was patterned after the goddess Lianna, the goddess of change and transition. Because in early drafts, Sevass was the goddess of change and magic. Particularly transmutation. Several gods originally had aspects of magical theory attributed to them. But that was scrapped.

So I jumped on a whole different plotline for Sevass. Because the first time my players met her, she was a freaky ragged looking creep somewhere between salad fingers and the Poe shop guy in LoZ OoT. And her thing was, that she was a trader. You gave her something and she transmuted it into something of roughly equal value or potentially more depending on the usefulness of the item. And that went for weapons used to attack her as well, because anything that was put to her skin, she considered an offer to trade. And several characters tried to hit her, one with arrows, one with a +1 sword. And she gave them a few coins and a +1 flail.

So. The party realized they weren't prepared to fight her and had her leave. And after that I realized what I was going to do with her.

She was a celestial, a little broken and rusty, but still a celestial. And so I decided to add a few rules/plot points to her. 1) she was installed in the plane as a source of power for the stars projected on the limits of the demi-plane. 2) whenever she absorbed and transmutes something, she saves a little bit of that magic in an attempt to store up strength to restore herself to a more proper state of being.

And then a player told me they wanted to swap out characters.

And my brain just went: YES.

Because transmuting a whole person is a great idea. All I had to do was drop the NPC their old character despised for essentially destroying their favorite sword on the road in front of the party. And everything went as planned.

The old character attacked, got absorbed, was replaced with the new character, and Sevass actually managed to restore her form somewhat to that of a proper celestial in the process. And there were some other things that my players will understand later, because the transformation literally altered the fabric of the plane, but I still kind of have a problem.

I need to find a good time to wake Sevass up. Because that transformation took a lot out of her, and left her mostly comatose. And the party is kind of carrying her around Weekend at Bernie's style, only it's less of a corpse and more of a partially armed nuclear warhead. And I have two good scenarios of places they could bring her that would result in her being restored to consciousness, but I'm not a actually certain the party is going to end up at either place any time soon (because they never do anything they say they're going to).

Anyway. That's me rambling about the time I accidentally gave my party the equivalent of a plantar and told them "that's a star. Literally a star. Like, Stardust type star."

Honey the Sugar Glider: Flight Member of “The Tasmanian Terrors”, She’s about 16-17. She knew Kicks before they formed the Extreme Gear team, but respects that Kicks doesn’t want to talk about his past. Nothing anyone does or says will get her to talk about Kicks and her’s childhood unless Kicks starts the conversation first.

Master Emerald: The Master Emerald has taken the form of a Mobian Echidna to raise a tiny baby Knuckles. She’s majoritively a crack character though you are free to have serious conversations with her! She is a very calm and motherly sort of ‘person’ always willing to listen and give advice. 

Phantom Ruby: The Phantom Ruby has taken the most adorable (feral) puppy form and is looking for Loup! They just want to make it up to their new friend all the trouble Eggman caused the both of them :( They had no idea he was being used against his will. They can take other forms and prefer they/he pronouns.

Mewtwo: Specifically the one from the Detective Pikachu Movie! He’s just a really good chill boy who’s been inspired by Detective Pikachu to give humans another chance! He’s not afraid to defend himself however, so watch out.

Joli the Twili: My Twili LOZ OC, they are a really gentle and sweet person, they know quite a bit about treating ailments with ingredients natural to the twilght realm. They do not really speak fluently outside of the Twili language but they try their hardest.

Unnamed OK KO OC: He’s a villain who specializes in theft. His power is to make bubbles to store things in or walls of bubbles to block people’s paths. These bubbles are completely opaque preventing people from being able to tell which ones are empty, which have stolen goods, and which are booby trapped. The bubbles are very sticky and not fun to deal with. He’s basically just a petty criminal compared to most other villains.

Muses I have but am not currently planning on adding to the blog unless someone really wants to interact with them:

Sonic the Hedgehog: Really really non-canon personality wise. He’s not as unapologetically goofy or cocky, but he’s still a fun loving guy. He has confidence in his skills as a Hero but doesn’t rub it in anyone face except Eggman. He’s very supportive of his younger brother, doing everything he can to be sure Tails is provided for. He raised Tails on his own practically since the kid was born. Only verse I have for him is Older Now to match my Knuckles. He’s ftm fully transitioned as well…. He’s also depressed as heck and taking medication for it, he pretends to be fine but he’s really really not fine

Shadow the Hedgehog: Error-- Too many divergent AUs found. Ask in IM if you would like to RP with Shadow. Very Selectively Open.

Wind Waker Link: Post canon WW Link is a really fun guy! He’s a little traumatized by the events at the end of the game but doesn’t let that slow him down! He loves Tetra but she gets on his every last nerve sometimes. He misses the King of the Red Lions and wants to find a new home for the Hylians to make him proud!

LOZ Mini Blocks Pro’s and Cons

Just a small opinion review from a casual hobbyist, will be updated as I play with more sets and notice other things.

Facts:

- German owned company that produces and ships from China.

- LOZ blocks are 75% the size of Lego’s. There is also a Micro/Diamond block that is EVEN SMALLER. They cannot be used with Lego sets.

- Will take a few weeks to arrive after order.

- Carries a variety of themes in both small and large builds: Copyright characters as figures (anime, pokemon, nintendo, superheroes), cityscapes, vehicles, famous buildings, creatures, objects, and more!

- As they are a smaller block and more detailed sets, these are not meant for small children. Depending on the set you want a detail oriented kid or an adult involved.

PRO’S:

Cost$$$ - Oh man the price is nice! You get a full complete project for a third or more of a Lego equivalent set.

Box and Shipping$$ - You can purchase these sets with the box, or without. Purchasing without the box saves you on shipping costs big time and they come in resealable zipper bags. So if you not looking to do a box display this is a great cost saver.

Quality - The bricks are sturdy, well made, and vibrant colours. Just like Lego though keep them out of direct sunlight when displayed or you will get colour fade.

Design - I have yet to be disappointed with the detail and construction of the sets I have picked up! Many little details that make the builds interesting to build and look at after with regards to using different blocks to make different looks for textures and finishes.

Connectivity - These suckers aren’t loose at all, so there will be no spontaneous falling apart, which I appreciate when my cat decides to be Godzilla. While this does also make it difficult to take apart, most deconstruction can be aided with the provided tool.

Instructions - Full colour quality printed glossy instructions. No written instructions, it’s all by life size drawn pictures. Each step includes the number of each type of block for the set and cut away displays for smaller combinations in that step.

Size: Due to the small size of the resulting sets you can squeeze a few more into your display than you could with Lego’s. Also if you just love tiny things it will give you a warm fuzzy feeling.

CON’S:

Purchasing and Shipping: LOZ does not have a direct store to buy from. There are a few sets available on Amazon, but your best bets are in Ebay and AlieExpress. AlieExpress does host a ‘main’ store for LOZ, but there are also other secondary stores. Due to having to purchase through a third party you have to be careful if the company isn’t a scam. Check to make sure it is a well established seller so no one vanishes with your money, and if you receive a set with black and white printed instructions, you have a rip off. There aren’t any special shipping options, so your order no matter where you purchase from may take a few weeks to over a month to arrive (yes, included via amazon!).

Size: These are small, hard blocks. Great for detail, not so great for soft delicate fingers. If you have thick fingers you might find building with these VERY frustrating. This also applies if you have long fingernails. Also if you have arthritis or chronic pain issues these probably aren’t for you as they take a bit of pressure to snap together and can give your fingers some pain after pushing against tiny blocks the whole build. I can only do one small build in a day as my fingertips get sore. Then again I don’t have any calluses and have delicate piano hands, so that might just be a me problem!

Connectivity: That wonderful snap that keeps the set from falling apart can also make it a pain in the backside to take apart. The tool is great for most things, but I do run in to problems when removing smooth topped pieces. My poor nails have to get in there or a kitchen knife to jimmy them off. Also I did run into an issue on one set where a pole was going into a tubed piece. The tube piece was to tight to go on the poll, so I had to leave that part out.

Prints & Stickers: Lego prints their designs on their blocks, LOZ does not. LoZ uses stickers, which are fine, but can be figgly for some people. As my sets are new I do not know the longevity of the stickers.

Instructions: Sometimes it can be a bit difficult to read them, watch for those red lines and where they line up on the two pieces that are involved! The colours of the blocks are also off from real life, so it takes a moment to figure out the right colour.

These are cost effective, detailed, fun, interesting little builds! The downsides are all just minor figgly things (at least for me) so it is beyond worth it! I am looking forward to purchasing other varieties of sets from LOZ, my wallet is already crying for mercy.
