Chronotrek SNW to season 2 finale
Wow, I thought I had written at least one other post here. Turns out the show, like Discovery, is interesting enough that I couldn't watch it while working, which meant it was competing with all my other free time goals. Took me a while to get through them all! But I'll be headed to TOS next, which means I'll be able to watch while working again.
2x3 Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
They really like to use timeline fuckery in Trek, don't they?
I had a realization- this Jim Kirk actor was in Army Wives (he was a soldier who tried to marry the general's 17 year old daughter) and one of the brothers in Vampire Diaries and even though I didn't _consciously_ remember either of those parts, that might have had something to do with why I was not a fan initially.
La'an has to shoulder so much. Survivor of gorn, bearer of her name, temporal agent to protect a genocidal murderer... and she can't talk about a lot of it and has nobody to share the burden with.
2x4
Why does the computer specify "officer's quarters" if everyone is officers? I don't know if you can tell, but this still really bothers me. Like... someone mentioned it's because they all have college degrees and are astronauts, etc., but... lots of enlisted have college degrees. That's not what makes you an officer. And AS a former enlisted, to me, it's 'if you work with your hands, you're enlisted'. If you're an officer, your job is more about either managing people or being the mouthpiece. When I see lieutenants and commanders holding tools it bothers me.
"I'm Erica Ortegas and I fly the ship"
2x5 Charades
It's going to bother me if Spock's mannerisms are treated like they're genetic and not cultural. He's not stilted and his language choices aren't because he has Vulcan blood, but because he has grown up on Vulcan around other Vulcans. Changing his DNA to human wouldnn't change how he acts. /sigh I'm trying to be better about recognizing the difference between storytelling device and realism and when one can be sacrificed for the other.
Amanda looked so different here, I needed to look it up to see if it was the same actress.
Charades? Really?
So by the end of the episode, I decided that they handled the mannerisms better than I had expected.
Demiromantic Nurse Chapel?
2x6
Zombie!Hemmer is fucking terrifying.
2x7? Crossover
The crossover was funny, which bodes well for me enjoying Lower Decks when I get to it in about 17 years. It's _AFTER VOYAGER_.
2x8
Digging M'Benga. He reminds me of a character I built once- a war vet who wanted to help instead of hurt. Except where my character was a True Believer on the Enemy Side who sought his own redemption, M'Benga was corrupted by the violence surrounding him and struggles with the consequences of sticking to your principles. It's very compelling.
The scene with the injured boy really spoke to it- you may have the luxury to sit out the fight and be pacifist, but that only means that someone else will be taking up arms in your absence. If you're a better warrior than most, is it ethical for you to put your weapons down when others will die because you weren't there? People who might not have died had you used your talents?
2x9 Subspace Rhapsody
Musical episode. Just when I was thinking that I was surprised Pike didn't sing his intro, the music was acapella.
Were all the bunny lines references to Buffy?
I like the relationship between Una and La'an.
Why exactly was it a two-person job if they're at the same console? I would have expected 'cross-targeting' to be like triangulating, needing to target from two different locations to better identify the target. Preferably from two SHIPS but at least two locations on the same ship.
I don't really like the way the singing was implemented. It feels like over-studio polished lip sync instead of being organic.
Why would they skew the frequencies like that on the UI panel?? future.
2x10 Hegemony
This one snuck up on me. I didn't realize the season was so short OR that it was over after this.
There was another "My God" that confuses me because I thought ST was post-religion.
Pike was willing to risk everything for Wynnona Earp Batel, but is he willing to do the same for his crew?
Does he feel a little invincible because he 'knows' his future? Is he aware of his Plot Armor? If he tried to kill himself prematurely, would it work? Confusing time stuff.
Anyway, I'm off to TOS. I'm not sure yet how I'll handle when SNW comes back.

I’m tearfully turning my back on the sick ass Cinelli Zydeco as an option:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8a53bfda89b7eb2fb70ab66b0f3327a9/8768a1e701c6258d-d1/s540x810/56f6f95047378aed3698d0c4f2bc7255c35d09ae.jpg)
due to price and the fact that the geometry is maybe just a little toooooooo road-bikey to be comfortable on the potential long trips I wanna do. Also it doesn’t have that many mount brackets for cargo, and given that it has essentially the same specs as my other options for twice the price, I think the extra £1000 is just going to the paint job and the fact that it’s Italian. SO I’ve narrowed down my other options to these three:
the Cube Nuroad WS
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8c733daf0ec9f4ec6c85c6a07d608e71/8768a1e701c6258d-73/s540x810/12320d89d312010bcab4e7badbe66f5a6835216b.jpg)
the Ribble CGR:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9e410f80a2632c71584ebf5afb5f8bf3/8768a1e701c6258d-dd/s540x810/5d63bba2b17d68bcca69a7d397f87ca59d0575bc.jpg)
and the Sonder Camino:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b71217ee3e989822960992a5e8539837/8768a1e701c6258d-61/s540x810/2fdd5b1fefdf8adc4c009d89cbd44039c36f6116.jpg)
They’re all aluminium frames, they all have disc brakes, though the Cube’s are mechanical instead of hydraulic, and they’re all 2x10 geared although the Cube only has Shimano Tiagras instead of 105s. I’ve never ridden a bike with fewer than 2 chainrings and I want to keep it that way. I like that all three have a slightly slacker angle on the top tubes which would give me confidence and stability on rougher terrain but they still have a long enough reach plus that second chainring to let me get down lower and flatter for those long fast stretches on tarmac. Because by god do I love bombing down hills on roads. Honestly I’m leaning more and more towards the Ribble and NOT just because they have a customisation option for the paint and you can deck the livery out in whatever colour or gradient you like, it just seems to offer the best of every potential ride style im looking for. However there’s an Alpkit in Edinburgh so I’m hopefully going to try out a Sonder this weekend just to acquaint myself. Both the Sonders and the Ribble have endless custom options for your pedals/handlebar configurations so even writing this out is helping me decide the extra money is probably worth either of those two over the Cube
anyway honourary mention to the Canyon Grizl 7 which is gorgeous and affordable and perfect and will never be anything other than sold out:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a0873cd8f09f5ed82c0cf9ed91f45214/8768a1e701c6258d-30/s540x810/06b0bcc259f7220ae0e668d16c59de33eb496f93.jpg)
and to the Pinarello Grevil F9 which I wouldn’t even want anyway even if it wasn’t £4000 because I do NOT want wireless Di2 gears thanks. The F7 has grx820s instead but the F9 has this wheelset and I just love how fucking wiggly this thing looks
it looks like a Chihuly sculpture I want to see how it feels to ride SO BAD
girl help i have new bike decision paralysis

STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS // S2E10 First First Contact Attention all hands, report to your commanding officers. The Archimedes needs our help, so we have to remove our hull one panel at a time. I'm calling on every officer, no matter what your usual duties are. We have to work together. It'll be close, people; our lives will be on the line. But we are Starfleet, and we never back down from a challenge. Now, get to work. Cerritos strong! Oh, and the ballroom dancing competition will have to be postponed.

Lower Decks: I, Excretus (2x08), wej Duj (2x09), and First First Contact (2x10)
Summary: The last three episodes of Season 2...
Comments: I watched these awhile ago, but I should probably close out the “reviews” for this season, since I want to make a final point.
I, Excretus (2x08): The crew is put through trials where they’re rated according to their performance during trope “Star Trek” plots. The Boimler plot in this episode was hilarious and I loved every minute of it. Boimler is my favorite character out of the four (by default, since Tendi and Rutherford are two-dimensional, boring, and redundant and Mariner is irritating) and so watching him obsessed with getting a perfect score was amazing.
wej Duj (2x09): I honestly don’t remember this episode. I think this is the one when we follow the events of a parallel “lower decks” crew aboard other ships, including a Klingon and Vulcan one. I hope that Vulcan girl isn’t transferred to the Cerritos. The show does not need any more “main” characters, it’s already blotted to all hell.
First First Contact (2x10): This episode had an actual plot and, instead of repeatedly fighting each other, the characters have to work together to overcome a shared adversity. They come out on top, actually learn from the experience, but then the rug is pulled out from under them and the episode ends on an actual cliff-hanger. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I may actually be enjoying this show by this point: there was an actual story here.
Overall, the show is gradually improving in enjoyable ways. Reduce the centrality of Mariner, develop the key relationships a bit more, and introduce actual plots with real consequences. Make us like the characters, put them in risk... I mean, I’m just citing Writing 101 shit here.
Season enjoyment: 3/5, it’s an improvement!

Flat Deck Truck Driver Bcta
A flatbed step deck truck can also be referred to as a drop-deck flatbed truck. Step deck Trailers are a model of the flatbed trailer consisting of a backside and top deck. These trailers are designed to carry freight that cannot be transported on a regular kind of flatbed, usually flat deck for a truck due to height restrictions. Flatbed trailers are widely used and highly versatile, making them one of the in style trailers seen on the roads at present. Typically, freight is loaded onto the tip, sides, and rear of the flatbed.
It could maintain up for some time because you truck is simply a 1500, but any utility that can see heavy hundreds (1000lbs+) should completely consider much heavier metal and stronger base helps. Those wanting to drag 5th wheel trailers should keep away from this "publish" style base design as they flat deck for a truck may very quickly bend and/or shear off. I really have used the mattress a quantity of times to pick up giant loads of lumber and it has done great. I plan to construct a headache rack and probably some removable sidewalls in the future however for now the truck is ready to go for the summer.
I used regular trailer lights and just wired them into the existing trailer mild wiring harness. In this step I measured out all of my lumber and minimize every bit down to 6 ft. I wished to use commonplace lumber widths to make it simpler to replace the boards if wanted. This worked out to 6 2x10's and one 2x12 with about flat deck for a truck a 1/16" on either edge. Then on both end of every board I drilled two 5/16" holes and bolted the wood down with 5/16" carriage bolts. After you've completed the welds clean off the entire slag and spatter with a grinder or wire wheel. I wiped down the brand new body with a little alcohol and now we're ready for paint and the Wood deck.
The tallest point of the lowboy trailer is just above the wheels, with the lower deck resting inches above the ground. The function of a step-deck is to haul taller equipment that would not otherwise fit on a flatbed. This is contrasted on a step-deck as a result of there are two different levels. A step-deck truck is a type of truck which makes use of a two-tiered method to hauling cargo. Grimshaw has a fleet of state-of-the-art temperature managed trucks designed to take care of and monitor particular refrigerated temperatures.
Capable of transporting freight weighing up to a hundred and fifty,000 pounds, an RGN trailer can broaden from three axles as much as over 20 axles for heavier shipments. Because it's considered a extra specialized trailer, detachable gooseneck trailers are more expensive to make use of. The normal step deck trailer width is 8’6” for prime decks and bottom decks. The major operate of a drop deck is to allow for taller cargo masses to be shipped. Using a step down from one level to a lower degree, the utmost cargo top is elevated as the haul sits closer to the road.
