2. Album of the year?

Without a doubt, Noah Kahah - Stick Season. Those songs, my heart. It’ll probably be my album of the year, next year.

4. Movie of the year?

It has to be Red, White & Royal Blue for me. Nothing has captured my heart, brought me to new friends, helped me get back to giffing, creating, etc… quite like it in a while and it felt and continues to feel so good. It just makes me really freaking happy.

7. Favourite actor of the year?

I mean. I’m really happy 2023 has brought me both Nick Galitzine & Taylor Zakhar Perez. It’s pretty tough to pick one.

And in the brief lull that follows, Sirius tries to imagine it: James dying.

It’s—his brain physically skips over it, like a scratch on a vinyl record. Blips in and out. His train of thought screeches to a stop. Like the idea alone is a mistake. Young or old or in-between, James dying is unimaginable. Unfathomable. Since he was a tiny baby, Sirius has never lived in a world without a James Potter in it somewhere. He never, ever wants to.

Impossible, his mind says. It would be like the sun guttering and going out. Like the end of the world.

“You’re gonna be a good dad,” Sirius says instead of whatever is running through his mind. He sticks to the truth. “The best.”

James grins, genuine and bright. “You think so?”
