Here they are! The albums that got me through 2023. As someone with an incurable degenerative illness, music is a lifeline for me. In another lifetime, I worked in the music industry. Once a year, I still work at the merch table for Letters to Cleo at their Boston “Homecoming” shows. The rest of the time, you can find me listening to these records with a cat on my lap. Fish and Ships – The Sea

Spamano is a ship that abounds with plenty of adventures at sea – mermaids, pirates, sailors, sea witches, sirens, and so many kidnappings! Here's some of my favourite stories of adventures on the high seas.

To note: anything written in red contains smut, anything written in green contains content warnings, but not smut. Do note that a lot of these stories contain underage characters and especially teen and adult (sexual) relationships, due to the time period the stories are set in. Age gaps can be seen in the individual fanfic recommendation. If a given age gap makes you uncomfortable, click one of the stories without that. Only finished fics are recommended here. Always check the tags and description on the individual fic, don't read anything just to criticise the author, and I hope you have a good reading!

Pirates:

Hoist the Colors High by Elemental Fantasy 13: Lady Lovina is kidnapped by the infamous Captain, Antonio, and he's infamous for some very good reasons! He's not the only pirate kidnapping ladies, however. Other pairings include USUK and PruCan. Contains threats of sexual assault and very minor character deaths (it's a pirate story).

Spanish Gold by Shadowcatxx: Antonio was taken in by the Vargas family as a kid, and when he is old enough, he leaves on a ship. Twelve year old Lovino won't have it though, and stows away on the ship. They are foster brothers and there is an age gap (they are ten years apart, and know each other from Lovino is a baby). Content warnings for one sexual assault scene with underage Lovino (not spamano), slight gore and torture, and implied sex between 16 year old Lovino and 26 year old Antonio. I wish it wasn't so, but the story is good, I promise.

Under Appreciated by Abby Keeper: Lovino and Feliciano stow away on a pirate ship. Fairly sweet. There is an age gap here as well (Lovino is 15, Antonio is 23).

Unexpected Consequences by Avalon's Moon: Lovino the cabin boy wants some respect from Captain Antonio, but things escalate. This is underage smut, since Lovino is 16 and Antonio is 20, but their actual ages don't have a big impact on the story. There's also light BDSM.

Dangerous Waters by BlueFlamePy: Antonio's a pirate captain who catches a thief who's wanted but has no bounty. Said thief later comes aboard his ship. Content warning for violence and minor character death.

Ojalá by The_Cilantro_Family: Antonio was taken prisoner by his enemies, Lovino managed to free him. Note the time jumps back and forward in the story. There's a five year age gap, they meet when Lovino is 12, but years pass before they fall in love.

A Pirate's Life for Me by pilindiel: Antonio and Lovino are getting handsy with each other, but pirate ships are really crowded. They don't actually get anywhere, since they get interrupted.

tormentas by orphan_account: Short fanfic about the dreaded pirate captain Antonio being comforted by Lorenzo during a storm.

El Corazón del Pirata by adropofstarlight: Captain Antonio kidnaps the young nobleman Lovino, but after an assassination attempt, the two grow closer. But were they strangers in the first place? Contains minor character death.

Dead Man's Prayer by grimwoode: Lovino is bored of his life and joins a pirate crew for an adventure, but it's a lot more than he bargained for. For once, Antonio isn't the captain. Content warnings for major character death, violence, child abuse, suicide, prostitution, implied underage prostitution, slavery, cheating, and tragedy.

Pirates and Royalty:

Of Pirates and CrossDressing Runaways by doiteain: Lovina and Feliciana are royalty on the run from being married off to some princes. They disguise themselves as men and join Captain Antonio's pirate crew. There is also GerIta and PruCan.

Pirates of the Pomodoro by RandomWriter57: This one is a little different, because for once, Lovino is the pirate, and Antonio is the prince! After a botched assassination turned into kidnapping, Crown Prince Antonio finds himself as a prisoner on a pirate ship. Contains character death. There is also a sequel to it.

How The Turntables... by LimitlessReach (orphan_account): This is smut happening in a public place.

Merpeople:

Scavenger of the Sea by Black_Rose_Authoress: The Bad Friends Trio and Ludwig find a mermaid on the beach. Antonio falls in love with her, and she's interested in him. The language barrier is the biggest obstacle.

Part of your world by kyootness: A sweet loose retelling of Disney's The Little Mermaid with Spamano.

Love of the Sea by anchorise: Short story about a merman and his sailor confessing their love.

Not The Only First by DasGrossartigeIch: Lovino and Antonio's first time together, started by Antonio's merman heat.

Scalier by Ronni_Rotten (orphan_account): Antonio dreams of becoming one with the ocean, and is captured by Arthur. He shares a cell with the siren prince of merpeople, Lovino, and they plan a daring escape. I really like the world building in this one. Contains minor character death.

Ashes by lorenzodelcielo: A siren prince has been once betrayed, and learns to trust again. Contains abusive relationships, nondescript sexual abuse (neither is Spamano), trauma, and character death.

Underwater Land by satsukiarisa: Antonio is a merman, Lovino is a human deadly afraid of the water. He also suffers from amnesia for plot related reasons. Past Prumano. It's a little suggestive at times and contains violence, trauma, and assault.

Pirates and Merpeople:

The Pirate's Treasure by chibi-excel: Captain Antonio has caught a merman – a prince at that, and as a royal, his merman can make jewels. Since Lovino isn't used to human languages, he occasionally uses the wrong words, which is very cute. Smut is in chapter 19 and 21, but many of the earlier chapters are also dealing with sexual themes.

A treasure unlike any other. by Karliah: After a battle at sea, a merman rescues the deaf captain Antonio.

siren's call by orphan_account: Antonio is a pirate who's washed up on a shore. Lovino is a siren calling to him. Smut.

Exploration of a Dream by ofdogsandwriting: Antonio and Lovino are mermen in an established relationship. Curious about the human world, they go above the surface and join a pirate crew.

Listen to the Call by animerockchic: Captain Antonio is called by a siren to fetch something important.

Sailors and the Sea:

Captain's Log by LadyLisa: Antonio returns from the sea, home to his Romano. Domestic fluff.

Hymn to the Sea by laconicGhost: Two men from different worlds find themselves to be falling in love on the Titanic. Contains character death and attempted suicide.

come home to me by Treta_Aysel: Lovino is in love with a sailor, and that's not easy, because the sea is fickle. Extremely mild smut.

with you i'm home by Treta_Aysel: Sequel to come home to me. Lovino and Antonio go sailing to help Antonio deal with what happened.

The Beachcomber's Windowsill by LadyLisa: It is the 1920s, and Antonio is visiting an old friend by the ocean. Chapter 7 contains mild smut.

Nationverse:

A Few Days Late by lovelesslybeloved: Little Lovino goes out to the docks to look for the sails signaling Antonio's return. Not a ship-fic.

Wish Upon A Star by Kaffee und Sahne: Lovino wishes to know whether his boyfriend has some brains or not, and is then brought back to when Antonio was a pirate. There's extremely mild smut and a few offensive word choices.

Losing Touch by rinkaku: Romano has a quiet moment to ponder Antonio's past as a conquistador.

To Get a Message of Pain by organization MA: Spain tells Romano that if he writes his troubles down and put them in a bottle he sends to sea, he can get rid of them. It doesn't quite work out. Not a ship-fic. Content warning for one offensive word choice.

Dehydration by writingandchocolatemilk: Spain has been hunting England for months without going home to see Romano. Now he's half dead and hallucinating on a beach.

Lovino of the Silver Tongue by orphan_account and Tassledown: Antonio got caught stealing. Good thing he has a great liar for a henchman. Lovino is headcanoned to be older than Antonio in this fanfic, and has an adult body.

It's Upon Boss to Teach You Some Manners by ArceeGeorgia: Seeing Antonio's old clothes made Lovino fantasise a bit. Antonio's ready to fulfill those fantasies.

Just Add One Mermaid's Tear by Samstar1990: Two representations of South Italy is too much, and the one for Sicily desires to be as great an empire as her grandfather. She has a wicked plan, but she needs a merman and the cooperation of the nation who raised her and her brother. At times, this fanfic has some grammar issues, but the premise and story is so interesting and original that I don't mind. Contains character death.

Pirates and the Supernatural:

Initiation by Karuka Ikashi: Lovino is a dragon cursed to bear the body of a human, and is about to go through the initiation ceremony on Captain Antonio's pirate ship – if nothing else just so the crew won't think of him as a goddamned pet.

The Contract by BlueFlamePy (repeat recommendation): Captain Antonio has picked up a demon, and wants this demon to help him gain glory and immortality.

The Greatest Treasure, You Idiot! by Kitty-Kat Allie: A pirate seeks a treasure, the greatest treasure of them all. The beautiful siren Lovino shows him the way, but will Antonio fail when it matters the most? This one legitimately made me cry.

She narrowed her eyes. “You want to give me a job because I can lie to you and have no manners?”

“And because you’re determined, loyal, and resourceful. You’re clever. You know the right questions to ask, and how to read people and situations. You bring a perspective that one else in this house can.”

Jane chewed the too-big bite of cake she’d taken, eyebrows drawn together as she regarded him with more than a bit of judgement. “You met me, like, twenty minutes ago.”

LAUGH

“I’m not sure these people like you,” Jane commented as they turned a corner.

“They think I’m a dirty commoner sleeping with Percy to drag myself out of insignificance,” Pavia replied breezily.

“Oh.” She paused, watching her out of the corner of her eye. “Are you?”

Pavia laughed. “No, though he is very handsome. He’s not exactly my type.”

ROCK

Nic shifted so he was standing directly in front of her and held out his hand in the small space between them. “The bracelet.”

Jane’s jaw dropped. “No way you saw me lift it.”

He raised a brow, and she fished the bracelet out of her pocket. It wasn’t expensive, and was made of speckled blue rocks joined together by black ribbon. Lovina wore it everywhere.

“How did you see it?” she demanded. “You have to tell me.”

He shook his head, smiling slightly, and tucked the bracelet into his own pocket.

RED

Jane sidestepped a person in a beautiful red and gold brocade coat, barely avoiding being knocked over, and instead collided with the chest of the person directly behind them. Hands landed on her shoulders to steady her as she stumbled back, but she batted them away.

“Excuse me, I—” She stopped, finding herself looking into brilliant green eyes for the second time in as many days. She frowned. “Oh. It’s you again.”

SOFT

The chimney was collapsing.

Fear bloomed in her stomach. She loosened her limbs until she was sliding down the flue as fast as she dared, hands and feet skimming the clay. Colourful parks flew as her boots scraped through old, caked on substances. There was no light below her, no way to tell how much farther she had to fall, but she couldn’t stop. Not if she wanted to escape being crushed under the falling bricks above her.

Her feet struck something metal. She crashed into a warm room, falling with the hood cover she’d kicked off. It did nothing to soften the impact as she hit the floor. She rolled, diverting as much of her momentum as she could, until she reached a wall and struggled into a crouch. Bricks and plaster and clay smashed against the floor in the middle of the room.

    it’s   the   middle   of   the   day   when   she   leaves   the   shoppe,   carrying   four   bags   on   her   arms.   adelaide   tries   to   adjust   a   bag   hanging   from   her   wrist   only   for   it   to   fall   off   and   the   contents   to   spill   out.   ❝   damn   it.   ❞   she   groans,   trying   to   awkwardly   squat   down   to   grab   it   when   someone   grasps   her   arm   tightly   to   keep   her   from   tumbling   over.   she’s   about   to   thank   them   but   she   sees   who   it   is.   ❝   hello   addie,   it’s   been   a   long   time   since   we   broke   up.   how   are   you?   ❞   maxwell   inquires,   his   voice   calm   and   polite   but   a   storm   in   his   eyes.

    she’s   been   walking   for   fifteen   minutes,   it’s   actually   a   bit   sunny   today   so   she’s   been   enjoying   the   pleasant   weather.   but   this   also   means   she’s   wandered   into   an   area   with   less   foot   traffic.   there   are   some   shoppes   but   they’re   long   closed   down.   ❝   you   seem   nervous.   looking   around   for   what?   an   escape   route?   i’m   not   going   to   hurt   you,   i   would   never   hurt   you.   even   though   you   have   no   problem   hurting   me.   getting   yourself   knocked   up   with   that   bastard’s   spawn.   ❞

    but   max   catches   up   to   her,   grabs   her   and   yanks   her   back   to   him.   yelling   a   non-stop   string   of   furious   insults   and   vulgarities,   his   nose   is   bleeding   —-   good.   she’s   stronger   than   she   realized.   ❝   when   i’m   done   with   you   that   bastard   won’t   even   be   able   to   have   an   open   casket   at   your   funeral.   you   think   you   could   dump   me   and   there   wouldn’t   be   any   consequences?!   ❞   he’s   slammed   her   hard   into   a   wall,   uncaring   how   the   back   of   her   head   bounces   off   the   bricks   or   how   it   knocks   the   wind   out   of   her.   his   breath   is   hot   on   her   face,   she   smell   the   traces   of   firewhiskey.   

    but   a   sound   overpowers   his   furious   shouting;   a   defeaning   roar   that   fills   the   sky   above.   his   grip   on   her   loosens,   undoubtedly   there   will   be   bruises.   his   eyes   widen   almost   comically   when   he   sees   where   the   sound   came   from.   ❝   she’s   here…—-   nagini   you’re   here.   ❞   adelaide   says   quietly   to   herself,   relief   in   her   shaking   voice.   with   Max’s   hands   reaching   for   her   throat   there   had   been   a   second   there   where   she   thought   she   would   die.

Bali, Indonesia: Landscapes, Lewaks and Lovina Beach

Another beautiful day in Bali and I was meeting up with my friend Wayan and his family to hike Sekumpul Waterfalls.  The weather was calling for rain showers, so we decided to leave the house early to miss as much of the rain as possible.  We entered the park and paid our admission in preparation for the hour-long hike to the base of its falls. Making our descent down the switchbacks, we noticed…

And also she confesses her feelings for James before he go finding Elizabeth. This surprised James and he confesses her too that he was fall in love with her before during their latest mutual friendship. Finally, the two began fell in love.

3. Engagement dress that Alex wore during and after Jack Sparrow flee from the execution and James proposed to her to be his wife. She agreed with him, happily.

Where you meet:

Julchen: You met her at a night club. You were the bartender when she and two of her friends came running over. She flirted with you the whole time and you smiled and flirted back. You gave her your phone number before helping them to a cab.

Isabel: She was your sisters best friend. You two were always close as she would always come over. You are a mix between all of your older sisters. You became closer with her during the teenage years and now into adult hood.

Who asks who:

Julchen: She called and texted you everyday for a week before she finally asked you to go out with her. You said hell yes.

Isabel: You did. You asked her after finishing working on the tomato garden. She flung her arms around you and kissed you. Your sisters were all happy for you as they knew you two loved each other. Your grandmother smiled and hugged the two of you.

Periods:

Julchen: You would see the side of her no one else does. She would speak gently and make sure you had everything you needed. She would wrap you in blankets and be quick to grab you snacks before you even had to ask. She would give you pain killers every 4 hours so you don't have too bad of pain. She would dim the lights for you to relax. She can be a real angel.

Isabel: She turns motherly and stays there for you even when you start to have mood swings and swear at her like your sister. She knows its just the pain and period talking and will run her fingers through your hair carefully. She'd help you sleep and make you soup for your stomach. Your grandmother loves her because if she's not there to calm you, you and your older sister will tear each other apart. (Your sisters are Lovina, Felicia)

If they were Yandere

Julchen: She would kidnap you and lock you in her basement. She chain you to the floor so there was no way of escape and kill anyone who tries to find you. She would threaten you about your family and friends.

Isabel: She would kill anyone who tried to stop her. She would act like she had no idea what was going on as your friends all but her start to die. You have to lean on her and soon she'd make you so lonely and dependent on her you would cling to her like she always dreamed.

Accidentally hurts you

Julchen: She once got super drunk and fell on you  making you two fall back, while you hit your head on a table she passed out. Luckily it didn't do any bad damage only a cut and a bad headache. When she woke up she felt like shit and promised to never get drunk again. You told her you were fine and to just get you some medicine.

Isabel: She forgot to tell you how hot your soup was and you burnt your mouth. She would always be careful not to hurt you.

her name is chiara leandra vargas. i feel like maybe that didnt need to be said but also the name lovina, while similar to actual italian names, annoys me because its just tacking an a onto the end of lovino which isnt a name. i do think lavinia is kinda cute tho, although my favorite L names are leandra and larissa. 

i dont think italy had an equivalent to the Women’s Land Army (in Britain and the US, during WW1 and WW2, female civilians were organized into little farming communities to replpace the labor shortage caused by men going into the military), but that’s basically how i imagine her fashion sense is. just. this

also related to ww2 she was 100% in the resistence

she cuts her own bangs

one of her many jobs throughout history was a rollerskating waitress. i have absolutely no historical basis for this. it is the Vibe

on another fashion note, she tends to either dress similarly to the style of the WLA uniform or like. she’s trying to win at fashion week. 

chiara also makes the majority of her own clothes, with a preference for sewing by hand. i think that the nations are sort of treated like royalty by their governments, i imagine she’s had a lot of very nice clothes throughout the years, and there are certain things that she just misses, and modern technology can’t recreate her faves, so she likes to make stuff for herself. her level of involvement for getting the materials really varies too. if she’s feeling it, she might go out and shear a sheep. if that’s not the vibe she’d just as easily go to a fabric store and buy a couple meters of cotton. 

this is sort of related to another hc but she does not give a flying fuck about how feminine her wardrobe is anymore.

as an immortal woman, chiara tends to not particularly care about gender as a concept. she’s south italy, what more do you care, ya know? i think her relationship with her gender is a bit complex but also as simple as “well italia is feminine so it makes sense that im a woman.” like a lot of the female nations, i imagine she’s very strong and hasnt always been taken seriously by even the members of her own government, so it’s been hard, but she genuinely doesnt care anymore how people see her. because of that, she’s a much lighter person than she used to be, to the extent that other nations will comment on it. like...i think when she met russia again in the 20th century he was like wow you’re so chill what did you do to chiara? you know? and though she’s not like, fully happy and at peace with everything related to her gender, she’s just sort of over it, ya know? 

she has an interesting relationship with religion. i think she sees herself as being A Very Good Catholic™, but is she though? once again, as an immmortal, i dont think chiara’s very attached to religion as a concept, mostly because she cannot go to heaven, because she cannot die. well, she could, but she’s over 2000 years old and she doesnt look like she’s going anywhere soon, so. at this point she just sort of goes with what the church says, and if she disagrees with that, will make her own interpretation of the bible. and if she doesn’t like what the bible has to say, she’ll fall back on her own opinions. she has a little bit of catholic guilt about it

she’s definitely got some weird feelings about catholicism and how people can use it in ways that hurt others. its a bit conflicting, because the vatican is literally in her heart but she also doesn’t really like everything that comes out of it. at the end of the day she sort of prioritizes being a good person over being a good christian, although that’s not really how she sees it in her own head. 

she prefers to wear looser clothing. stuff that hides the shape of her hips and chest. this is because she’s often been told that she couldn’t fight or that she shouldn’t fight, because she’s a woman, but if you tell miss chiara vargas not to do something. She Will. i know that in hetalia canon female characters are shown to be soldiers too, like hungary, although im not sure if that’s the most historically accurate. i also think it might’ve been harder for nyo romano, because a lot of romano’s character is defined by his relationships with veneziano and with spain, during which both of them try to protect him from harm at every turn (screams in veneziano trying to make sure romano doesnt have to stress himself out with work while also implying that he thinks romano is lazy and incapable and thereby making him even more stressed because he thinks his brother hates him-). so if nyo romano is operating under those same frameworks and dynamics as her male counterpart, i think that spain and vene might have tried to fight for her a lot. that annoyed chiara for obvious reasons but also did wind up. preventing her from fighting a lot. i think that she was definitely involved in all military conflicts involving south italy, but not necessarily fighting for all of it, you know? anyway, all that is to say that i think she’d have people to sneak around if she wanted to fight, so she would need to disguise herself in order to do so. 

side note while she was like. an infantryman or whatever she definitely used that as a chance to explore her bisexuality. chiara would make a damn fine soldier and village girls think so too

lactose intolerant but still eats so much cheese because as south italy she legally has to. she suffers in silence because soy/almond/oat milk dont cut it for cheese. however, if she’s feeling a coffee with milk, she will use one of the non-dairy alternatives.

also had a thing with cuba for a time. borrowing the hc from the cumano server that cuba re-taught her how to speak spanish but The Correct Cuban Way and now she’s like. fucking carribean sounding. whenever chiara gets in a fight with spain she’ll lay on the cuban accent extra thick, because its fun to watch isabel pull her hair out sometimes :)

Temptatio by Sixteen clumsy and shy: Lovino is a priest accused of sodomy, and is interrogated by head inquisitor Antonio. Also contains noncon and torture. I wouldn't say it's hot exactly, but it is wellwritten. Really gets into the headspace of someone who is rapidly losing things they didn't even know they could lose.

Possessed by LimitlessReach (orphan_account): Antonio is a demon, and hypnotises the priest Lovino.

I Can't Ignore you, I'd Do Anything For You by gloomcoyote: Here we have the exact opposite! Antonio is the priest, and Lovino really doesn't like when you say God.

Sins of the Innocent by orphan_account: Same premise as above, except there's five whole chapters of it!

Be aware that all of these straddle a fine line of dubcon because of demons and humans, and if that bothers you, don't click them.

Angelic:

Glorious Angelus by Black.Rose.Authoress: Antonio is visited by an angel named Lovina.

I Don't Hate You by BlueFlamePy: Lovino and his brothers are angels and have been sent to Earth for a mission, but they meet a group of dark angels, and one of them takes a bit of a liking to Lovino. Although it contains smut, it's only in chapter four (gerita) and the very last chapter (spamano).

Demons and Angels:

Tomatina Angel by GlassSerendipity: Christina (nyo Romano) is too bad for an angel, and Antonio is too good for a demon. As one tries to save souls and the other tries to doom them, they fall in love. Contains character deaths (that's how the characters become angels and demons), torture and one very non-graphic attempted sexual assault (not spamano).

Demons, Angels, and Priests:

A Divided Cross Path by Kin Siofra: Lovino and Feliciano are priests after their grandfather died, but Lovino starts seeing an angel named Antonio – and suddenly, there's also a devil named Antonello hanging around him. Yes, there are two Spains. Content warnings for character deaths, and non-graphic child abuse.

Religious Themes:

Bless Me, Father by plump_thighs: Antonio goes to confess his sins to a priest. But you have to be sorry for it to count.

All of Our Sins by Terminally Introverted: Lovino and Feliciano attend confirmation classes under their group leader Antonio. Lovino and Antonio slowly realise this church in particular is a very awful place. Warnings for homophobia, religious guilt and trauma, self harm, attempted suicide, and a bit of an age gap (Lovino is 17, Antonio is in his early 20s).

Not a Sin by ChibiDevil098: Romano has pushed his feelings for Spain away for centuries, but one Christmas Eve, Spain returns, and reassures him that what they feel is not a sin.

Confessional Ambush by Stripes93: Romano is trying to confess, but his boyfriend Antonio is on the other side of the curtain instead of the priest.

Don't Tempt Me by Reda: Romano has chosen a very particular thing (person) to give up for Lent this year.

Visiting the Pope by RomaNatty: Romano and Veneziano are supposed to introduce themselves to the new pope, and they bring their boyfriends. It does not go well. For the pope, that is.

Raised in Penance by cuneifire (orphan_account): Romano prays for his sins to be forgiven.

Hallelujah by AntheaAnonymous: Lovino and Antonio go to the same church, and can't get their eyes off of each other. Contains the most PG-13 sex scene, it is so PG-13 that I don't think it needs to be red.

Accept Surrender by stardropdream (orphan_account): Smut with religious guilt.

Ponhoss

Despite its vaguely related name, this dish does not find its origin in Hossberg, nor is it unique to the Anderfels, the land with which it is most commonly associated. Ponhoss, also called scrapple, has been a staple of many a poor villager across Thedas. In the Anderfels it is sliced thick and fried with butter or reserved animal fat and served to break your fast and fill your stomach.

Ingredients

One whole goat’s head

Two to four cups of flour, sifted

One-half to two tablespoons salt

Half to one tablespoon of black pepper

Two to four quarts of water

Directions

Place the goat’s head in a large broth pot and cover with the water, two to four quarts. Bring to a simmer and cook for two to three hours, until the meat is falling off the bones. Scum may rise to the surface from time to time; this can be skimmed off. Remove the head, reserving the cooking liquid, discard the bones and grind the cooked meat.

Add the ground meat back to the cooking liquid, then mix in flour, salt and pepper. The ratio should be approximately two cups flour, one tablespoon salt, one-half tablespoon of pepper per two quarts of water. Stir constantly to keep from sticking, about half an hour, until the mixture is thickened. It should resemble a very thick porridge.

After the mixture has thickened, take off the heat and pour into square loaf pans to cool and set.

After cooled, slice and fry in a hot pan with butter or bacon fat. Serve with either a savory or sweet sauce.

Notes

In the Anderfels, goat is the locally available meat, but ram or pork may be used. In lieu of an entire head, other leftover meat may be used, including hocks, shoulders, heads or ribs, or offal, liver, heart etc.

CLEARLY

“One of Princette Anwen’s demands in exchange for her agreeing to be crowned today was that Ravenswood be there the whole time.”

Pavia’s brows shot up. 

“They’re friends, Pavia, nothing more. They’ve spent almost every day together for the past two years as he’s trained her in politics,” Nic said. The second part had clearly been added for Jane’s benefit. “Besides, he’s eleven years her senior and has known her since she was a child.”

“My suspicions don’t fall on him, Nic.” She paused to smile suggestively. “Some women like older men.”

INTRICATE

Her eyes caught on a sudden movement to her right, from the direction of the doors. Lovina. Her face was pinched with tightly controlled rage, her mouth the size of a gold piece, her intricately arranged greying hair with its complicated loops and braids completely at odds with the inelegant way she was storming across the room.

Storming towards Jane.

Instinctual fear shot through her limbs. Jane pushed off the wall and hastened in the opposite direction, following the wall into the thicker crowd closer to the throne. She didn’t know what she’d done to piss off Lovina, but the High Priestess had had it out for her almost since she’d arrived in Summerlight.

FALL

“It’ll be easier if you loosen up,” Pavia advised, swinging up onto her own horse.

“I can’t loosen up, I’m—” The confession caught in her throat. Admitting fear aloud was a death sentence for a thief. It tended to invite bad luck. “I am deeply uncomfortable.”

“You’ll be fine,” Nic said.

Before Jane could respond, the others nudged their horses into motion and hers followed. She swallowed a yelp and prayed to all four gods and every saint she could remember that she wouldn’t fall and die.

FINISH

Pavia stepped forward, murmuring under her breath until a ragged outline began to glow green. It was a small opening, maybe a metre wide and another quarter metre tall, and based on the shape of the opening it must have been created using explosives of some sort. She finished her incantation and closed her hand into a fist. The illusion wobbled then melted away, leaving a hole in the wall with nothing but darkness on the other side.

Jane blinked. “Clearly nothing in there. Let’s go look somewhere else.”

Iemitsu becomes the Vongola Decimo

AND ANOTHER ONE (I literally have like over 40 of these to be shared in the next few days. Like I’ve spent years not focusing on them, I doubt I’d find sudden inspiration now that I’m no longer actively involved in these fandoms) This one isn’t any writing, fully just for the draft of a plan I will never follow through with. Au! Where Iemitsu is the next in line for the Vongola.

Not cannon at all.

Oregano: Rain: Water-Guns Tumeric: Storm: Brass-Knuckles Tsuyoshi: Lightning: Sword Shamal: Cloud: Mosquitos Nana:  Sun: Bo-staff Lavina: Mist: Musical instruments. Varia= Tomaso Famiglia equv. Lal-Milch= Reborn Iemitsu: Uses fists, is idiot, lives alone and has always loved Nana. Dad died second year of middle school, mother died when he was young, is generally disapproved of by most adults for the fact that he has no parents. Has below average grades, below average intelligence but is ex-captain of boxing club. Last year of middle school, is quitting school to work next year. Is obnoxiously lazy. Doesn’t want to be Decimo. 15  Oregano: Top delinquent at Noriyama Middle. Badass who doesn’t take orders for anyone, is from a Mafia family but like Hayato she’s a disgrace. Ran away and found sanctuary in Japan. Moved around for a while, finally giving up and attending Noriyama because it was the town with the most naïve people. The water guns were something she invented after seeing a girl in ��some delinquent town’ using similar weapons. 15 Tumeric: Loyal, but generally lazy and uncaring. Was from Europe, dad transferred to Japan when he was young and he’s lived in Noriyama since birth. Interested in MMA, wins MMA tournaments. Only wants his father’s pride, but his dad always puts him down because he doesn’t want his son to become a no-good father like himself.  16 Tsuyoshi: Traditional, polite and caring. He was trained by his master in 7 of the eight forms and is easily better than Tyr, the sword emperor but because of his kindness he doesn’t have it within himself to prove that, as the only way to prove it would be killing Tyr. His father is an old, kind man and his mother a quiet housewife. He lives a normal life, apart from the used to train under his sensei’s tutelage at a young age. 14 Shamal: Smart, abnormally so. Keeps people at a distance, has a total of 330 diseases and uses his mosquitos in fights. Doesn’t have much strength, but uses things like his smarts and simple tools. Gets angry when people needlessly risk their lives, hence his dislike for Iemitsu. Meets Iemitsu while on mission for Lal. Becomes cloud guardian because Lal asked. 17 Nana: Daughter of a Yakuza boss, seventh generation yakuza leader until she gives the post to her brother in favour of becoming Iemitsu’s sun guardian. Has sky flames as well and technically shouldn’t be a guardian, but keeps that a secret from everyone until the future arc. Uses a bo staff at her grandfather’s insistence. Most popular student in Noriyama middle and high. Is an agility based, long ranged fighter. 17 Lovina: Loved playing piano, is an amateur pianist came to Japan to play on her only tour. Falls in love with the view. Iemitsu was forced to her concert to interrogate her, fell in love with her music and like everybody at the concert was hypnotised by her illusions. Natural control of flame but didn’t realise it. Becomes mist guardian to realise her full strength in illusions as not to hurt anybody. 16 Lal-Mirch: Sent to train Iemitsu, like Reborn was for Tsuna.
