So I had this weird surreal dream yesterday, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. But I was walking in at Riverside and it was completely deserted which is weird for Riverside. I was heading towards the small park and it felt like I was going in slow mo mode. When I got to the park I saw Tobias swinging on one of the swings, and I got super hyper cause holy crap it’s Tobias. So I tried to run meet xir but I was moving as if I was in molasses. And then xie looked at me and smiled and then I woke up. It was weird and kinda sad.

Forty-one, comfort food, for Tsurin and Jasper (eeeeee)

“Still doing alright in there?” Tsurin calls over her shoulder as she ladles the finally-finished soup into a wooden bowl. The answering noise from the bedroom is something between a barking cough and the cry of a dying bronto. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

Jasper sits up some when she comes in, as much as he can while still buried under every blanket they own- and some borrowed from the neighbors. Careful not to spill a drop, she balances the soup in one hand while she crawls to sit beside him. Bleary blue eyes slide slowly from her face to the offered food.

“Dare I ask what’s in it?” His voice is little more than a whining exhale, and she gives a wry smile.

“Wouldn’t recommend it. But it’s an alienage favorite- the fastest cure for aches and ills of all sorts for generations. Eat up!” Hesitantly, he lifts a heaping spoonful- thick enough to completely disguise any vegetables or meat in viscous gray-brown broth- and swallows before it has time to rest on his tongue. A bout of hacking coughs interspersed with sharp Rivaini curses follow immediately after. Tsurin’s not sure whether his sudden resemblance to a cat coughing up a hairball is more a cause for concern or laughter, and tucks her face down into her shoulder until she’s sure she can speak without giggling too much. “I… are you okay?” The thousand-yard stare he’s giving to his feet suggests otherwise, until he reaches for the bowl with a rasping sigh.

“I’ve had worse.”
