I LOVE IT 💕✨
Look at these silly babies, how can she not pick him up when he's that cute? Thank you so much~
My half of an art trade I did with the very talented and lovely @androidships007 who wanted a pic of their OC and 2k3 Raph.
If you are strong enough to pick up your turtle boyfriend, you best be picking him up any chance you get. (He likes it. Don’t let him lie to you.)
Thank you so much for the trade. It is always a joy to draw 2K3 turtles.

They were busy with skill. They were art!First there were six of them, again addition six, again more. As of today, the Boondocks of Mount Pleasant has asked Lowcountry artists to adapt 22 of the cartage boxes, and added are in the pipeline. Some affection people, some highlight birds, some bless the Lowcountry landscape. This Week’s Essential Releases: Cosmic Death Metal, Techno, Jazz and More
Welcome to Essential Releases, our weekly roundup of the best music on Bandcamp. Each week, we’ll recommend crucial new albums that were released between last Friday and this Friday, plus pick an older LP from the stacks that you may have missed.
Behavior Spirits & Embellishments
L.A. post-punk trio Behavior make deconstructed rock n’ roll, all odd angles, that fizzes with anxiety and burns with tension even in its most seemingly-languid, minimal moments. Take “Cheap Dive,” from their latest album, Spirits and Embellishments; a minor-key jangler in the vein of the ‘80s Boston suburban underground (think Native Tongue or Moving Targets), the track slowly breaks down to barely strummed guitar and abstract lyrics, only to gather up again and stutter to a stop. This is the group’s most playful work yet; sure, there’s plenty of their trademark bleakness to be found, but tracks like “Cute,” “Some Dear Sign,” and “Organic” have percussive shuffle and even, dare I say it, a little bit of pop’s cheeky charm (which has been peeking out from their sound for a while, but feels more fully acknowledged here). I’ve been fascinated by what Behavior do since their first album (the closest overall analog in my head is Swell Maps, which is a large compliment), and it’s a joy to me to watch them build a cohesive style and get comfortable within it across such broad, experimental terrain.

Jacques Greene Dawn Chorus
The list of collaborators on the latest album from Canadian producer Jacques Greene gives a quick indication of its breadth. Everyone from the rapper Cadence Weapon to cellist Oliver Coates to synth experimentalist Juliana Barwick turns up in the album’s credits, a suitably broad roster for an album that is relentlessly determined to pool out in every direction. Greene works from a general base of dance music, but the way he approaches it is almost defiant. The press line on this record is that he approached the songs as if he were working with a band, which would be nothing more than a clever hook if the music didn’t actually sound that way. But that rethink is clearly audible—mainly in the cavernous drums on songs like “Drop Location” and “Do It Without You,” which have a resonance that feels strikingly organic. Genre-wise, Greene is all over the map, from the ambient house of “Let Go,” where waterfalls of synth cascade down over Rochelle Jordan’s winding R&B-like melody, to the bright and blinking “Sibling,” where fat, twitchy synths seem to flirt with retrowave. The album is held together by a kind of gliding ambience—a soft fog of electronics that hangs over even rambunctious numbers like the album opening “Serenity.” Greene and co-producer Jonathan Ford of the techno duo Ford & Lopatin created and followed a specific production rule book while making the record; as a result, Dawn Chorus hangs together as a cohesive work, even when Greene is pushing genre omnivorousness to giddy new extremes.

Laura Palmer’s DEATH PARADE Among Us All
Portland band Laura Palmer’s DEATH PARADE’s overlooked 2018 EP release, Among Us All, receives a cassette reissue on Seattle’s reliably cool Halfshell Records this month, giving dream pop aficionados a second chance to sink into the cloudy embrace of the band’s alternately sweet and doomy guitar pop. This band’s music is as spookily atmospheric and darkly insular as the mood conjured by the television show they so shamelessly reference both in their name and even sonically, but there’s so much depth and shape to these songs it’s impossible to get hung up on aesthetics—though they are, let’s face it, a huge part of the charm with this kind of music. But LPDP have something most dreampoppers don’t, which is soul. Laura Hopkins’ gorgeous, velvety voice winds in and out of her grief-stricken melodies, her yearning torch songs coated with soft shoegaze shimmer that only serves to make them feel even darker and more sad for being so pretty at the same time. The only thing this band needs to change is their name.
-Mariana Timony
Falon Sierra Damaged By System
Seattle-based R&B singer Falon Sierra is making music that transverses the line between soul and experimental. A self-proclaimed alt-R&B artist, her latest album, Damaged By System, is about self-definition and self-determination. On album opener, “What’s Wrong!?!?” Sierra sings, “I want to be adored,” to an uninterested lover over a piano-heavy beat with resounding synths. The track “CrazyInsane” sounds glitchy with light, airy electro pings that are expertly matched with Sierra’s syrupy vocals. On the hazy closer “Let Them [Sleep On You],” Sierra addresses listeners with a monologue about the struggles of making art in Seattle—a city undergoing immense and rapid gentrification. She’s clear about the weight of fighting to carve out a space for herself against the city’s current reality. The five songs on Damaged By System are a good introduction to Sierra’s sumptuous sound.

Vagabon Vagabon
The debut album from Laetitia Tamko, who records as Vagabon, was bare-bones and guitar-based, springing from the indie rock scene centered around the Brooklyn venue Silent Barn, which also nurtured artists like Long Neck, Fern Mayo, Waxahatchee, and others. But her new record—and first for the major indie Nonesuch—she leaves that rough-and-tumble sound behind, opting instead for sleek, synth-driven pop music that perfectly complements her stunning, haunting voice. The change of direction pays off from the outset: “Full Moon in Gemini” is a masterfully controlled narrative of love and longing that Tamko tells using vivid, specific details, and the way her voice rolls through the lush bed of strings and electronics is like fog rolling across the top of the water. On “Water Me Down,” she gingerly strings syllables together over sweetly piping keys. In our interview with her, Tamko cites Frank Ocean’s Blonde as a reference point, and while the two albums don’t quite sound alike—though both share a fondness for languid, luxuriant tempos—the primary area of overlap is in their unflinching intimacy. In “Home Soon,” as strings bend and sway in the background like trees in a breeze, Tamko repeats, “I give it all away/ but I’ll be home soon.” She sings it with a different inflection every time—first remote, then determined, then, finally sorrowful. The words are vague, but the feeling with which she sings them makes them clear she has a specific recipient in mind. There’s a subtle irony at work: there is a lazy critical shorthand that pegs underproduced guitar music—the kind Tamko used to make—as somehow inherently more “authentic” than other styles. To listen to Vagabon is to realize how foolish that thinking is.

Xoth Interdimensional Invocations
Xoth’s Interdimensional Invocations, my penultimate Spooky Friday pick, is a searing homage to Lovecraftian horror: Cthulu’s cold, desolate universe pressed to wax so that we might witness its majesty without our heads exploding instantaneously on the spot, like grapefruits in a microwave, upon exposure. Xoth aren’t the first cosmic metal band to come along — not by a long shot — but they’re certainly the nastiest, their oozing riffs reinforced by maddening screams and live-wire solos redolent of early-’90s death metal. Exorbitant doomsday tales like “Plague Revival 20XX” and “The Ghost Hand Of God” are filled with lyrical references to space viruses and alien overlords, the stuff of Ancient Aliens wackiness — and yet, the instrumentally-grotesque, lyrically-perverse manner in which they’re presented is nothing short of terrifying.

Back Catalog
Sensual World Feeling Wild
I’ve been waiting for the debut from Richmond dark punk band Sensual World (named for what I would say is an honestly underrated Kate Bush record) for a while now, and good lord, what a perfect album for the spooky month. Singer Julie Karr is possessed of a powerful voice, a country-soul howl that adds a particularly fascinating dimension to Sensual World’s sound. They’re clearly indebted to the Wipers (listen to those spindly, punchy Greg Sage-esque guitar lines, and the wash of reverb and delay over the entire album that makes it sound a bit like it’s transmitting from the bottom of a swampy lake), but Karr’s voice pushes them from a good band—enjoyable, smart songwriters, but not necessarily heads above the rest—to something ferocious and particular. When she recites “I’m coming, I’m coming, I’m coming,” at the end of “United States of Bullshit,” it is both a threat and a thrill.

Fun fact: This is the first time I've written a threesome smut. So gimmie a break if it's not good.
Tokien had put on a Tv show, Sex sent me to the ER, and waited for his two visitors. Nadina and Xopium were coming over to hang out with their respective red/black quadrant. They have been able to settle and get comfortable with the strange love triangle they have. Kinda to the point at times Nadina has to fulfill the pitch quadrant between the other two before things got too violent. Usually a kiss or two works. Xopium and her were moirails, but even after talking to Catrin, she’s learned that some pale quadrants actually are a bit more affectionate as long as the more intimate quadrants are okay. Rules are set in place, such as no kissing when Tokien isn’t around. (Xopium likes to tease that Tokien just wants to watch.) Knocking on the door to the host’s hive, the two seadwellers waited. It only took a moment for Tokien to be at the door. Pulling them both inside and giving them their respective affection.
“HEY YOU TWO. 1 WAS JUST WONDER1NG WHAT T1ME YOU TWO WERE COM1NG.” Looking at the plate Xopium was carrying. Seafood. Oysters to be exact. “D1D YOU GUYS JUST GET THAT?” He’s never had those before. “WELL, COME ON.” Already walking to the couch to watch Tv. Nadina just followed behind. Curling up against her matesprit and resting her head against his shoulder. “CX So what show is this?” “JUST SOMETH1NG 1 USUALLY WATCH EVERYDAY. YOU TWO M1GHT F1ND 1T ENTERTA1N1NG.” Nadina just nodded, humming a bit when Xopium finally came over. Setting the food down and getting underneith the two. Petting Nadina a bit beforee Xopium.
About 15 minutes of silence and watching the TV while they ate went by. Nadina wasn’t really sure why these shows talked about the stories some older trolls and adults had about their pailing stories. She was even more confused on why it showed scenes of them getting it on. Not saying a word though, she wasn’t the type of person to complain. The food was really good. Her and Xopium managed to make a good three dozen oysters on the halfshell. Cleaned and all. About half that were gone was because of Nadina. The texture reminded ehr of something, but she couldn’t remember what. “CX So why do people do stupid things when being close to eachother? CX'' That's what she calls pailing. “-> BecAuse it’s a good example of WhAt not to do When fucking Around. -> Could reAlly help in the long run.” “CX Are you saying I’m bad at that kind of stuff!? CX” Nadina popped up a but. She felt alittle hurt by that comment. “NO, YOU’RE NOT. HE’S JUST BE1NG AN ASS.” Tokien pulled her back down and started pecking at her neck. “YOU’RE GREAT 1N BED. 1 CAN SAY THAT FOR A FACT.” Xopium just rolled his eyes and pulled the two closer so he could get in contact with Tokien’s neck. “-> Well, I’m sorry thAt I dont hAve thAt informAtion. -> ThAnk you.” Giving Nadina his usual wink as he planted a soft nip on Tokien. “-> But I cAn sAy thAt you Are reAlly something in the sAck.” Petting Tokien’s hair before grabbing his horn. Tokien couldnt help but let out a soft moan. “YOU SH1T.” Groaning against Nadina’s neck as his face was flushing a bright teal. “CAN'T YOU SEE THAT 1’M BUSY AT THE MOMENT?” Grabbing Nadina’s horn to mess with. Enjoying how she was still senstive to everything just but the way she wimpered. Feeling her gills flare up under his lips. “-> Oh I knoW. -> Don’t mind me. I ActuAlly WAnt to WAtch.” Pulling his hand away and sitting up agasint the arm of the couch. A smirk lining his face as he ignored the tv show for the one infront of him.
Tokein couldnt help but gently pin his lover to the back of the couch. Pressing a hungry kiss on her lips as his hand glidded from her horn, down her hair, and over her breast. Stopping to pull away. Looking for any sort of permission to move forward. Nadina nodded, grabbing Tokien hand to help slip down her dress a bit more. Thank goodness that she wore her usual strapless. Smirking, Tokien was already back to his previous action. His right hand massaging Nadina’s breast, while the other wandered off of her, slightly to the left, and cupping Xopium’s groin. Not planning on leaving the third party out of the fun. Hearing a sharp groan from the other, Tokien smirked. Pressing agasint the cloth and gently pressing his fingers right where Xopiums nook should be. Hearing small sighs and shakey gasps, he knew he was doing something right. With the hand that was messing with his princess, Tokien slipped up Nadina’s dress. Revealing her flush nook. Pressing a single finger inside, Tokien could feel how tight she was. Probably tigher than the first time they did something like this. Watching his matesprit squirm and shiver from just the slightest of touches. Oh how it turned him on. “-> Are you going to give me some more Attention or WhAt, fucker?” The teal blood just cocked his head and looked over at Xopium. His face a bright viloet. Breath heavy and needing more than what he was getting. Tokien just pulled that hand away. Mostly out of spite. Going back to Nadina and how her bulge had already unsheived itself. “THAT’S 1T. GOOD G1RL.” Pressing a soft his on her lips. It only lasted for a second before he was stolen away. Xopium grabbed him by the horn again. “-> You little shit.” Nipping at his neck again and pulling out his own bulge. “-> Be a good loWer blood And pleAsure me… -> NoW.” Tokien just rolled his eyes and did as he was told. Pumping Xopium the same speed he was messing with Nadina. He’s not going to finish either of them off like this. That just won't do. Especually for his aching needs.
Nadina just shivered at the pleasure and leaned against Tokien Shoulder. Watching Xopium mess with him and touch him. Is it bad that it was a bit hot? Two people she cared so much about getting that close to one another? It made everything just feel so much better. Kissing and nipping at Tokien’s neck, like how her moirail did. Subconciously grinding against Tokien’s fingers. Feeling three in there now, his thumb pressing against her bulge. Kissing his ears and noticng the ear cuffs were on. So cute. “CX Tokien… CX” She could feel the familar bubble in her stomach. She was going to finish soon. Not yet. Pulling Tokien’s hand out, she got a look of confusion in return. “CX C-can we do more? CX” Giving off her innocent look. This was so much fun, she didn’t want it to end too soon.
Xopium just watched this. Groaning when he was being touched, but this isn’t mearly as much as he wanted either. “-> Give the lAdy WhAt she WAnts and do more. ->Come on Tokien. ->ReAlly show her hoW much of A freAk you Are.” He’s going to have so much fun with these two. Leaning over to strip Tokien of his overvest and shirt. Tossing them to who knows where. Shucking off his pants to the same unknown location. Pessing a soft kiss to Nadina’s cheek as he took off her clothes too. He wanted to see everything. Last was his. It took a bit because of his jewlery and how his horns hooked onto his shirt. Which was bullshit. A mess of pink, blue, and viloate was already appearing. Mostly purple from how the colors mixed. Getting behind Tokien, he was pretty much the one in control now. Settling Nadina on the couch under them. “If either of you want to stop, just tell me.” He is quite sure Nadina hasn’t done anything like this before. He wants to make sure she’s okay. Watching at Tokien guided his bulge into Nadina’s tight nook. Giving him a moment to groan and what he can only presume to be a tight, little nook. He gave Tokien a harder bit on the neck before pressing inside the tealblood. Feeling him shake as he was suddenly being taken in two ways. Good little low blood. Already slowly thrusting in, causing a chain effect for Nadina to slowly start to get fucked. Watching her moan and shiver at the movment. Seeing her bulge move around for any attention. Reaching down to let the pink muscle wrap around his hand. “WHY THE HELL ARE YOU TOUCH1NG HER?” Tokien barked a bit. “-> BecAuse you’re not.” Giving a hard thrust and watching them both let out a sharp moan. It only made him want to pick up speed.
Tokien was slowly seeping into bliss. He wasn’t entirely sure if his kismesis meant to bring oysters to make this happen, or this was just another influced in the seep of sexual tenstion between the three. Knowing anotomy and how seafood can boost libido. Xopium was basiaclly setting the speed of how fast they were. Already feeling his own nook get pounded into. He tried thrusting his hips in rhythm. Wanting to give both of his lovers a good time. Neither of them would be able to have something like this without him. Curresing Nadina’s face before planting another soft kiss. Groaning when Xopium hit just the right spot. Pushing his hips back again before giving a hard thrust. Feeling genetic materal drip down his legs. The faster Xopium was thrusting, the more force he was putting in, and it was alot more than the last times they'd fucked. (It’s been a while, since their black romance was just rekindled) The more forced his kismesis was doing him, the less he had to make up for his matespirt. Hearing her moan and gasp for air. Clinging onto his horns as she was getting pounded into. Tokien was able to shift a bit to hit a place to really make her scream.
Xopium just watched this as well. This was hot as hell. Grabbing onto Nadina’s hip, careful not to scratch her, he really started to give it. His buldge thrusting and thrashing inside Tokien. Feeling him shake and shiver against his chest. He was definatly close by now. “-> You better not finish just yet. -> You’ll regreAt it.” Biting Tokien’s ear as he fel himself watching to finish. Moving his hand back to Nadina’s bulge, he started to move his hand against it. Feeling how slick it had gotten. It didnt take long for his moirail to turn into a shivering, soaked mess as she finished. Spilling pink all over his hand and Tokien’s thighs. “-> NoW you cAn.” Xopium was still giving the same amount of force as he had been. Not even ten seconds later, he finished. Tokien was slumped against the troll under him. Pecking and kissing her cheek as he was now coming down from his high. Looking up at Xopium. Waiting for him to be done abusing his now overstimulated nook. That look set the viloet blood off. Filling him up with his genetic material. Finally pulling out and looking at the mess that all made. Colors everywhere. Not that it was a sore sight. It was a wonderful one. He wanted it painted so he may stare and be aroused all over again just by a glance. “-> Well, thAt WAs fun, but We should probAbly go cleAn up noW.” The episode on the Tv long ended and had started showing another episode. They didnt care. Xopium grabbed each troll in one warm to carry to the bathroom. Getting a whine from Nadina, who wanted to stay on the couch and cuddle. “-> We cAn do thAt in the bAth. -> You Also need to leArn About After cAre.”

Sitcoms, Huffys, and Mary on the halfshell
There’s a trumpet at the end of Destroyer’s “Dream Lover” that reminds me off all those low slung ranches down in New Bedford, where the sand goes running down the beach into the churning Atlantic, and where all the wires from all the telephone poles criss-cross over head, making a patchwork out of those late afternoon skies where the thin, erratic clouds look like cotton candy in front of a pink and bruising sky.
The world there seemed so remote to me as a kid. The same houses on the same shapes of land, with their brown couches and their sitcoms on television. We’d race bikes in those cul-de-sacs and make up games to play in the nothing that was occurring on the safe front lawns on the South Coast.
The trumpets have a way of feeling like the last party Gatsby ever threw. Like the movement was dying and we were all going through the motions. We dressed up, and danced to the approved music with the approved people, just like so many low slung track houses. There because doing the same thing was easier than doing something new and hoping people followed. Those dying trumpets at the end of the song were what becomes of the old, when the fire dims and the battles become less interesting.
Those trumpets have a way of sounding like an old photo. Like a polaroid from 1979, there in its wood paneled walls and fading imagery, it sounds like timeless friendship feels. Like all the great wars we fought can be laughed about over cocktails on some fading brown couch, under the criss-crossing wires with all those sitcoms coming in, while the children outside dreams of a future that might be.

Why I Love Raw Bar in Boston, Take 2
It’s been a few years since I held forth about my love of raw bar, throughout my life and particularly in Boston, here in the blog. Since then, it seems that the choices for great raw bar in Boston have multiplied, and as more restos here have embraced raw bar as a raison d’être, with the accoutrements to go with it for lagniappe, I figgered that y’all need an update on what is happening now here in Boston, to me Raw Bar Central. Any of these places are very worthy of your business, just thought I’d share.
My previous posts years ago mentioned Neptune Oyster in the North End and Island Creek Oyster Bar in Kenmore Square. Both are still exceptionally slurp-worthy, and I do go to ICOBar in Kenmore on a regular basis - it has the best fish and chips in town there as well, I must say. But Neptune’s former chef Michael Serpa left Neptune a coupla years ago to open his own place, Select Oyster Bar in the Back Bay, on Gloucester St between Boylston and Newbury. It’s a gem. Service is top notch (and included in your tariff, feel free to round up), the raw oysters are flawless, and the day boat “dry” scallop ceviche is worthy of the Gawds: get the peppers with it, and lick the freakin’ bowl when done. Order the octopus, for Serpa is an octopus zen master, and also get the messy shrimp grilled à la plancha: peel, eat them and do more licking, this time of your fingers when finished. Excellent wine and spirit service reigns at Select: try a half-dozen or so raw oysters on the halfshell sometime alongside a gin Gibson (with house pickled cocktail onions) to feel truly decadent and elevated some leisurely afternoon. I’m sorely tempted to order the caviar service there one day when I’m feeling flush.
There’s also Salty Girl, closer to Copley Square in Back Bay on Dartmouth St, and while my raw bar experience there has been more limited, its big hook is the array of tinned seafood on offer there. Do not diss canned seafood, friends, not when it’s done right as it is in Spain and Portugal, and increasingly here as in the US. Properly tinned seafood in great olive oil actually improves in taste and texture over time in the tin, and top-drawer canned fish can really taste richer and better with some age. I even curate my own tins of Spanish tuna in olive oil over several years here at home. Salty Girl was the first place in Boston (others have followed) to feature tinned seafood as a feature, and that’s a very major plus.
Famed Boston chef Jody Adams recently tucked in a resto in Back Bay on the Ring Road near the Pru, and called it Porto. Nice raw oysters there, truly creative app and entrée preps and a really quality collection of potables, both of vino and of cocktail/amaro, at its welcoming bar. You can’t go wrong with a lobster roll here, by the way.
The most recent newer raw bar venue I’ve been to recently in Boston was the one I visited today. With Neptune Oyster in the North End drawing in so many raw bar lovers, there was room for one more such place in that nabe done with finesse and excellence. Enter chef Doug Rodrigues, with Boston cheffing experience as varied as Clio, the Tip Tap Room and Liquid Art House, who now helms North Square Oyster Bar, in Boston’s North End on a venerated American urban public square. Paul Revere’s house is just a coupla doors down, seriously. Today this place delivered solidly on its raw oysters, with freshly grated real horseradish (a definite plus with raw bivalves), then I was served a entrée-worthy salad bowl of tastily dressed microgreens with delectable lobster salad. North Square Oyster nailed it today. As I thought of places like this which have opened since my previous raw bar post, I’ve now realized that we are in a particular sweet spot in Boston food history - a place where the ocean bounty of this extraordinary city is beginning to shine on its own, as it should have all along. And finally, Boston is becoming the destination point for serious lovers and diners of raw bar, the raw shellfish of my dreams.

OTP meme TMNTVDAY
In which universe does your pairing exist?
They aren't based on any particular universe, but I did come up with this AU in direct protest to The Last Ronin. I just wanted one future where all the turtles get to grow up and be happy for once. They live in Mutant City under the protection of the government with other mutants and non humans, but life isn't completely peaceful yet.
Introduce us to your OTP.
Raph and Snytheoid. He's a giant mutant ninja turtle, she's a resurrected cyborg assassin. Together they're two idiots trying to figure out how to raise a family and balance their duties.
How did they meet?
On patrol when they were teens. Syntheoid was built by the Earth Protection Force and works under agent Bishop. They teamed up to fight against the Krang and later worked to stop the Tricepratons and other alien threats created the power vacuum left behind after the Krang were gone. There was some friction between the two since agent Bishop couldn't always be trusted.
How is the relationship now?
The two came together after Syntheoid saved three mutant fox kits from the foot clan. Having no one else to ask for help she showed up on Raph's door step one night. They've been living together since.
What is each other's love language?
Raph is super protective of his family, he shows his love by trying to shield anything bad. He can take it too far sometimes, but it comes from a good place. He also likes to make things for them and just hang out around them. Syntheoid is equally protective and is quick to stop problems before they happen. She's attentive and always willing to lend a sympathetic ear, or offer solutions. Between Raph and Snytheoid they accept each other unconditionally and respect each other's need for independence.
Do they get married or have any kids?
No they're not married, they aren't technically dating either. They never really talked about their relationship, they just started living together and relying on each other. Everyone refers to them as if they're married though, and they enjoy being together. And if you haven't noticed by now, yes they have kids. They adopted three mutant fox kits, Mezcal, Ninjara, and Apolex. Raph and Syntheoid adore them and try their best to make them always feel safe and loved.
What is your favorite thing about this pairing?
That they get to be happy. Seriously I just want one happy canon future for the turtles. They deserve that much. Also I'm a sucker for domestic shenanigans.

Raph: thumb push puppet
A very short drabble between Raph and Syntheoid 🐢❤️🤖
He stood there huffing, each breath like a flame both filling him and burning everything around him. His glare fixed at the ground. Tunnel vision starting to lift, he sees scattered debris of the room spread around where he stood, the eye of the storm. Fists clenched and shaking.
"Fuck."
He hissed. He lost it again. His eyes squeezed shut, but the disaster around him hadn't disappeared. Nothing was magically solved. He was still mad, hurt, and betrayed; but now he had the remnants of his latest temper tantrum to fix on top of his unresolved feelings.
"Raph?"
A familiar voice dared to utter his name. A voice devoid of fear, lacking in anger, or even the annoyance that he had become so accustomed to. Perhaps concern, or something else he lacked the words to express. She was always an enigma to him. Rather than comforting him, it made him blood run cold. He didn't answer. He couldn't.
There were a few moments of near silence, only his haggard breathing echoed through the trashed room. He wished she'd do something. Anything. Yell at him, blame him, anything. He was used to being wrong. He knew losing his cool like this was wrong. This temper of his had driven so many away. Maybe he really was a monster. His eyes stung and he snarled to him self.
He didn't hear her metallic footsteps as she approached. Not until she was right in front of him. Panic nearly stopped his heart. She still hadn't said anything, but neither had he. Everything laid broken and scattered around them, his fault. He didn't even know how to start explaining this to her. What if the kits had seen this? He cursed inwardly again, brows furrowed as he squeezed his eyes shut.
"You're just like this."
His eyes snapped open, focused on her. Still trying to process her words. Of all the things she could have said, that wasn't what he was expecting. He looked at her small hands held out, cradling an even smaller toy. She always managed to confuse him. His head tilted, a complete loss for words. He was no longer in a state of rage, just completely lost.
"See?"
She pressed a button on the bottom of the toy and he watched in horror as it collapsed, appearing to fall to pieces. Just like him. The words echoed in his mind and he looked back at her, trying to swallow his hurt. He opened his mouth but she cut him off.
"Whenever you're under too much pressure you crumple, and you think you're broken."
She lets go of the button and the toy pops back up as if nothing happened. He blinks in disbelief. Both the shock of watching this little toy seemingly fix itself and at the cutting accuracy of her words. He hated how good she was at analyzing any situation, and how little effort she put into sugar coating her observations.
"But you always manage to spring back. You're resilient, Raph. Not everyone can handle pressure like that."
He hated it, but he also loves it. Was she really talking about him? The big brute, the hothead, the screw up of all his brothers? She took his hand and gently placed the small toy in his massive hands. He cradled it like a precious treasure.
"I brought it for the kits... But I think you need it more."
There was a brief silence as he stared at it. His breathing started to calm down as he pressed the button. The little toy collapsed again, just as it did before. Once he released the button it popped back up.
"...just like...me."
His voice is gravelly, and hoarse. Not broke, but resilient. His eyes met hers and she offered a sympathetic smile. Maybe she saw herself in the little toy too?
