Alexandra stands off to the side after laying out the food on the dining table, sighing softly to herself as she fondly watches you greet friends and family members you haven’t seen in a while. The sight of you so happy to reunite with your loved ones on a special occasion pulls at her heartstrings and she can’t help the tugging on the corners of her mouth.

“Yiee, ate Alex is smiling!” she hears behind her. At that, she turns around and one cold look from her has the culprit shutting up.

She goes to find you in the small crowd, but you find her first, surprising her by hugging her from behind. “You didn’t have to do this for me,” you whined.

A small cupcake with a lit candle is placed in front of you. You plaster a smile on your face in thanks to the waiters. “Happy birthday!” they start to sing, like you haven’t heard it from the last three restaurants Crispin dragged you to and even from a few stores that offer free birthday gifts for celebrants. Like any sane person, you awkwardly sit through the song, struggling to keep your flustered expression at bay. All you’re thinking about is how you’re going to break Crispin’s phone if he doesn’t delete all the embarrassing videos he’s taken of you within the whole day. With every singsong ‘Happy birthday’ that you hear, your murderous thoughts only worsen for Crispin and his phone.

“Ta-daa!” says Basilio, pulling out a box and two wine glasses from the basket by his thigh and laying it on the blanket you’re seated on.

A round cake, with a pit in the middle, iced in a chunky white crumb coat, and decorated with assorted sprinkles and your favorite candies sits in the middle of you both. Written in colorful icing are little greeting messages from himself, Crispin, Hank, and the Treses. Without a doubt, you know he spent all night making the cake on top of putting together the whole picnic basket. Your heart swells, and you coo out loud without meaning to.

It seems Basilio mistook your cooing at his thoughtfulness for a form of mockery for his obvious lack of baking experience as he blushes and huffs. “Don’t judge! Oo na, deins ako cakerist. (I’m not a ‘cakerist’.)”

Your friends thought it was a good idea to throw you a little surprise party, and seeing as you had no idea who their guest list was comprised of, you would just keep getting surprised whenever anyone else made their way through the front doors. Just when you thought there would be no more guests since it’s been halfway through the party, the doorbell rang and there stood a disheveled looking Tapia, already embarrassed at having been late for your birthday. But you gave it no thought as you launched yourself onto him. “Mr. Sergeant Tapia, sir! You’re here!”

He laughed before handing you your gifts. A plushie of your favorite animal and a bouquet of flowers. You couldn’t help but let your face morph in awe and overwhelming sensations of gratitude. “Aww! Thank you, I love them!”

Later on, he gave you a follow-up gift in private, instructing you to open it when you get home. Inside the envelope were a bunch of ‘Open When’ notes, and your first instinct was to call him, whining into the microphone.

If you wanted to go browse for clothes for an extended amount of time, go to the spa for a self-care treat for both you and him, finally buy that book you’ve been wanting, get a restock on the art materials you recently ran out of, or even just do your groceries, he’d simply follow you and egg you on, encouraging you to spend more for yourself because you deserve the treat.

He’d laughed at you when you pulled up a dress shirt and bought it for him, suggesting that the color brought out his eyes or something along the lines of that, because of course you’d bring him into consideration during a shopping spree meant for you.

Your friends cheered and raised their shot glasses when a cake with sparklers for candles was brought to your table. You made sure to snap a photo to post on your Instagram story.

You made it to the Airbnb right in the middle of the afternoon—the perfect time to explore the area, nearby waters, and landmarks. After the day’s adventures, your friends lead you to an open bar along the beach to finally and properly celebrate your birthday.

Flashes of their phone cameras were all you could see as you made a wish and blew out the sparklers with cheers and random greetings piping up from all around the bar. JOHNNY_FLIRTY: No hard feelings, yeah?

PLAYER_HAPPY: No hard feelings.

PLAYER_HAPPY: Guess it is all just a game after all.

You stand and hug Johnny.

JOHNNY_HAPPY: Exactly!

You part and head back to the villa together.

Walk away

PLAYER_EMBARRASSED: After all that? Are you serious?

PLAYER_ANGRY: I’m not hugging you, Johnny. We’re done here!

You get up and walk back to the villa. Johnny follows behind.

JOHNNY_HAPPY: Still got that fire!

Throw his water in his face

PLAYER_ANGRY: Are you kidding me?

PLAYER_ANGRY: After everything you’ve done in the villa? You want a hug?

JOHNNY_HAPPY: What? I thought it might help?

With Nicolas and Meera’s bags packed, you prepare to say your goodbyes.

Kat pops open the cap of Meera’s posh shampoo and takes a sniff.

PLAYER_HAPPY: You love your shampoo don’t you?

KAT_HAPPY: Hundred percent, babe.

PLAYER_EMBARRASSED: And what about, Nicolas?

DANA_EMBARRASSED: And what about, Johnny?

KAT_ANGRY: Couldn’t care less about him.

LULU_SAD: I just can’t believe he did that to you, {0}.

LULU_SAD: You don’t deserve to be treated like that.

DANA_ANGRY: Well, he got what he deserved, now he’s not our problem.

KAT_HAPPY: Yeah, won’t have to worry about that now that you’re single, {0}!

PLAYER_EMBARRASSED: I am, aren’t I?

KAT_SERIOUS: Too bad everyone’s taken. In happy couples I mean.

LULU_IDLE: Alfie isn’t. Me and Suresh aren’t exactly happy together either

GABI_FLIRTY: Guess you’ll have to get your graft on again, {0}.

KAT_SERIOUS: Yeah, but I wouldn't bother with Finn. I know exactly where his head’s at.

LULU_HAPPY: In the clouds?

KAT_FLIRTY: No, in my lap.

GABI_FLIRTY: Well, you’re gonna have to graft someone.

GABI_SAD: Otherwise you might be going home next.

KAT_SERIOUS: Yeah, just don’t go rocking the boat and we’ll all be friends.

LULU_HAPPY: So what are you going to wear now that you’re single?

LULU_HAPPY: You’ll probably want to turn some heads.

LULU_FLIRTY: Oh! What about this!

KAT_SURPRISED: Urm, what did I just say?

*TRYOUTFIT* Yes, this will cause a stir!

PLAYER_HAPPY: That’s the one!

You and the girls enter the bedroom.

The couples start to slip under the sheets together. You look at your empty bed.

Then you see Alfie. Solemnly collecting his bedding, all alone. You go to him.

PLAYER_IDLE: Hey.

ALFIE_SAD: Oh, hey, {0}.

ALFIE_FLIRTY: Wow, how do you do it?

PLAYER_IDLE: Do what?

ALFIE_FLIRTY: Still manage to look incredible after a day like this.

ALFIE_SERIOUS: Putting me to shame. I probably look a right mess.

PLAYER_IDLE: You okay? It all got a little intense earlier.

ALFIE_EMBARRASSED: Like I said, I’m fine.

PLAYER_SERIOUS: You know it’s okay if you’re not fine?

PLAYER_IDLE: You can talk to me.

ALFIE_SAD: I know.

Alfie continues to bundle up his bedding.

PLAYER_SURPRISED: What are you doing?

ALFIE_SERIOUS: Gonna head out to the daybeds.

ALFIE_SERIOUS: I just need some time to think. My head's spinning.

ALFIE_EMBARRASSED: Just been a lot to process.

ALFIE_SAD: I don’t really want to be around a load of happy couples right now.

ALFIE_SAD: I just don’t know if I’m making the right choices.

ALFIE_SERIOUS: And now I’m single again. Feels like I am back at square one.

ALFIE_SAD: I’m not sure what to do now. Being single again at this stage.

I don’t know what to do either

PLAYER_SAD: Yeah, it’s tough being single again.

PLAYER_SAD: Not sure what’s going to happen next.

PLAYER_IDLE: But you’re not alone, we’re in the same boat.

ALFIE_SERIOUS: Yeah, I guess. Thanks, {0}.

PLAYER_HAPPY: Not really, I know exactly what I want.

ALFIE_SERIOUS: You’re lucky. I wish I had all the answers.

PLAYER_IDLE: We’re still here and we can still make the most of it, don’t you think?

ALFIE_SAD: Anyway I’m going to head outside, just for tonight. Try and figure things out.

ALFIE_SERIOUS: Just don’t feel like sleeping in an empty bed.

PLAYER_SAD: I’m here if you want to talk about it, Alfie.

PLAYER_SAD: Sometimes it’s better to talk things through with someone.

PLAYER_SAD: Rather than bottle it up.

Alfie picks up his bedding and heads out of the bedroom.

As the other Islanders drift off to sleep, you head back to your bed.

Finn sees that you’re now alone and hops out of bed.

He talks to you in a hushed voice.

FINN_IDLE: Psst. {0}, I need to talk to you.

FINN_IDLE: I have a lot to get off my chest.

PLAYER_SURPRISED: Really?

FINN_IDLE: I need a chat, somewhere a bit more private?

PLAYER_EMBARRASSED: What about Kat?

FINN_IDLE: Don’t worry she’s sleeping, plus that’s kind of what I need to talk to you about.

FINN_SAD: She’s been giving me the cold shoulder all day.

FINN_SAD: And I also feel a lot has gone unsaid between me and you.

FINN_IDLE: It’s just really important and I feel like if I don’t tell you now I’m gonna burst.

You follow Finn into the bathroom, and Finn turns on one of the showers.

FINN_IDLE: Don’t want anyone listening in on us.

PLAYER_SERIOUS: So what’s this all about?

FINN_EMBARRASSED: Well, everything’s been so chaotic these last few days.

FINN_SERIOUS: Especially all the drama with Nicolas.

Finn runs his hand through his hair, and looks almost awkward.

PLAYER_HAPPY: Guessing you didn’t ask me in here just to talk about Alfie?

FINN_HAPPY: Nothing gets past you.

FINN_IDLE: No, I actually wanted to talk to you about us.

FINN_IDLE: And I am sorry if I end up talking a lot.

FINN_SERIOUS: This is unlike me, but I need to just get it all out.

FINN_IDLE: Normally, when I see someone I want…

FINN_IDLE: I jump in head first without thinking about it.

FINN_HAPPY: And it almost always blows up in my face.

FINN_IDLE: And I have been trying to be different, to do better this time.

FINN_HAPPY: But the truth is I do want something… someone, and I have done for a while now.

FINN_HAPPY: But I’ve been giving it time and a lot of thought.

FINN_SERIOUS: Because I wanted to be certain.

You feel the room get hotter as the steam from the shower forms a cloud around you both.

“you’re dating who?” paddy gawks, harry snickering at him from across the table. tom leans back in his chair. “y/n y/l/n. you’ve heard of her, haven’t you?” he clasps his hands behind his head. “i’ve seen all her movies at least twice. i… i love her!” his youngest brother beams. “so do i,” tom playfully challenges.

“darling, you should bring her by tomorrow. sam’s cooking us dinner,” nikki suggests with a supportive smile. hearing his name mentioned, sam peeks up from his phone. “since when?” “since your brother has a girlfriend he’s only just told us about!” she nudges tom’s shoulder. tom bites back the grin growing on his lips. “a girlfriend he loves, at that.”

“he’s not the only one,” harry comments and glances at paddy, whose whole face has gone red. “i guess i could whip something up. i’m visiting the shops later,” sam agrees with a nod at tom. he winks back. “thanks, mate.” turning to his mom, tom’s own face gets warm. “sorry i haven’t said anything, mum. we’ve been trying to keep our relationship on the low. dating in hollywood is…”

“a shit show,” nikki finishes for tom. her words make him chuckle. “exactly. we wanted to make sure we were ready before bringing in the rest of the world.” eager as ever, paddy speaks up again. “i think we’re the perfect people to start with, specifically me.” that earns a quirked eyebrow from tom. “easy there, padster man.” he looks him over, trying to figure out his motives. “if i didn’t know any better, i’d say you were trying to steal my girl.”

paddy points at him with a glint in his eyes tom has never seen. “you don’t know any better.”

the family gets back to their conversation, talking about what you’re like and how their dad’s gigs are going. tom is a bit distracted, though. he isn’t sure what paddy meant by that. realistically, he knows he won’t be stealing you away. there’s a huge age gap among other things. it seems to tom like paddy has a crush on you, a big one. he’s probably just excited to meet you. that’s good, right?

tom doesn’t think about it again until arriving back at his parents’ the next day. you’re with him this time, nervously clutching at your purse in one hand while your free one squeezes his. he frowns at your fidgeting.

“y/n… they’re gonna love you, sweetheart,” he assures you, his thumb stroking the back of your hand. “how do you know?” you wonder as you two walk up the steps. “because i love you, and i think paddy’s got a thing for you as well.” he’s smirking when he tells you this. scoffing, you curl into tom’s side. “i love you too, but what’s up with paddy?” you stand next to tom on the porch. he rings the doorbell before replying.

“he’s watched your whole filmography, all your interviews,” tom explains, shaking his head lightheartedly. “i’m sure there’s a poster or two of you in his room somewhere.” you pout your lower lip out. “aw, so he’s a fan?” “he’s my competition,” he jokes. your head falls onto tom’s shoulder with a sigh. “he’s a literal child, tom… and your brother.” you glance up at him wickedly. “maybe i can sign his posters. i think he’d like that.”

tom slips his arm around your waist, hearing footsteps come towards the door. “oh, paddy would be thrilled,” he confirms. your response is a hum as the front door swings open. “tom, darling. back so soon?” nikki teases her son, then gives you the warmest grin. “you must be y/n. we haven’t heard much about you, but we will.” you return the smile and let her take your hand to guide you inside.

after all the introductions, you gather outside to sit and talk. sam is in the kitchen cooking, nikki is helping him, and harry is setting the table. that leaves you with tom and paddy. they’re on either side of you, your head on tom’s shoulder and his arm around both of yours. paddy is talking about a school project while you nod along. he’s completely harmless, contrary to how tom described him.

“the deadline is next friday, but i’ve only just started,” paddy explains, you laughing softly. tom’s lips brush your ear. “i’m gonna look for something to drink. do you want anything?” he speaks in a whisper and trails his fingertips over your shoulder. “sure, tommy. whatever you’re having, thanks,” you reply with a kiss to the back of his hand. paddy clenches his jaw as he watches you two.

“what about you, pads? soda?” tom teases and earns a giggle from you. “i told you not to call me that,” paddy groans back. he scrunches his face up when tom reaches over you to ruffle his hair. “someone’s got to put you in your place. soda it is.” “don’t take too long.” you tilt your head back to look at tom. “i won’t.” he licks his lips before pressing them to yours, trying to deepen it form the angle.

“children are present,” you remind him, sitting back up promptly. “be a good boy and get our drinks.” “ok, fine. i’m going,” tom laughs out, pecking your cheek and standing from the couch. paddy rolls his eyes when his brother finally gets inside. he hates being thought of as a child by you, even if he is one. “so,” you start to fill the silence. “what else are you-“

“i think you’re an incredible actress,” paddy says instead with an innocent smile. “really? thank you so much.” you rest your head in your hand, grinning. “tom kinda told me already. he said you’ve seen all my movies.” “did he?” paddy repeats bitterly. he’d probably made him sound obsessed. you’re still grinning. “mhm, and that you might have posters of me.” his eyes widen, cheeks flushing a deep pink. he’ll never let tom in his room again.

“between you and me…” you look behind you to make sure tom isn’t coming. paddy scoots closer to you and nods. “i think tom is a little jealous.” “he should be,” paddy mumbles to himself. that doesn’t stop you from hearing. “what are you-“ “how about you help me with my project? i could use the extra hands,” he smoothly changes the subject. must be a holland thing.

“let’s wait until after dinner. tom is gonna be back soon, anyway,” you try to reason. you’re only fueling the fire by saying that. “i need to use all the time i have. come with me!” he’s grabbing your hands before you can protest again. you end up following paddy to his room, tom still sucked into a conversation with the rest of his family. harry sees you two pass by. he murmurs a div to paddy.

when tom gets back outside with two beers and a coke, you and paddy are gone. he frowns, heading to the kitchen once again.

“has anyone seen y/n?” he wonders and scans the room for you. “i think paddy stole her.” “they’re in his room. he just brought her up,” harry replies, his lips forming a line. a bit of anger bubbles in tom upon hearing this. “dinner is nearly done!” nikki gasps. “bring them back down,” sam requests. setting the drinks on the counter, tom sighs. “will do. give me a minute.”

tom’s annoyance only grows as he ascends the stairs. he can hear your giggling from behind the bedroom door, obviously caused by paddy. it’s silly that he’s so jealous of his baby brother, but he knows him well.

the door opens to reveal you laying stomach down on the floor and paddy on his bed. you’re autographing a picture of yourself while he gets books together for his assignment. tom isn’t sure what he was expecting, though he’s relieved this is all it is.

“oh, tom!” you notice him standing in the doorway and cap the pen. “you were right about the posters, babe.” “i see.” tom clicks his tongue. paddy scowls at his brother. “i can’t believe you told her,” he grumbles, you handing him the signed photograph. “no, it’s fine! i think it’s really sweet.” his face relaxes. “nevermind, then.” he’s now making heart eyes at you, tom inhaling a sharp breath.

“y/n/n, can i talk to you?” he asks quietly, eyes flitting over to paddy. “in private?” “um, yeah. i’ll be right back, okay?” you tell paddy with an apologetic smile. he shoots you a thumbs up, tom stepping aside so you can leave the room. “mum wants you for dinner in five, actually,” tom corrects. he’s quick to close the door behind him so he doesn’t have to hear complaints.

you’re leaning against the wall, arms crossed over your chest. tom walks up to you cautiously. “what the hell was that?” you squint at him. “i came back with the drinks, and you were gone,” he answers lowly, and not to your satisfaction. “which doesn’t answer my question.” “i… well…” tom huffs childishly. “paddy’s whisked you away! i wanted you to spend the night with my family, yeah?” he sets his hands on your hips.

putting your own hands on both his shoulders, you look at him knowingly. “babe, paddy is your family. there’s nothing wrong with some one on one time.” tom stares down at the floor while rubbing his thumb over your hip. he doesn’t say anything. “so what if he has a little crush on me? he’ll get over it.” you take a step closer to him. “what makes you think that?” tom chews his lower lip.

“he’s just starstruck. and, i’m his future sister in law,” you confidently respond, finally making tom perk up. he exhales a laugh and pulls your body against his, leaving a warm kiss on your forehead. “bonding isn’t such a bad idea after all.” “mm, i told you,” you bury your face in the crook of his neck. paddy leaves his room then, his face falling at the sight in front of him. this time, tom puts his pettiness aside.

“get in here, padster man. we’ve got room for one more.”

It's you and me baby

“I-I’ve never done this…” you shakily whispered while holding onto Simu’s broad shoulders for dear life, his soft lips leaving delicate kisses up and down your neck. He let out a pleased sigh, loving the fact that he was giving you nothing but pleasure. His arms wrapped around your thick waist tighter as he pulled you closer to his, your back still pressed against the door of your hotel room.

“I’ve never done this either…Falling for a gorgeous woman who’s supposed to be an interviewer…People would think I’m crazy” the Canadian actor mumbled in between the soft kisses, inhaling your sweet scent and feeling shivers run down his spine. He was crazy indeed. Simu wasn’t the guy to fall in love on first sight and then immediately act upon the newly discovered feelings.

He was the typical guy that would plan to pursue a woman throughout the course of a few months.

That was until he met you a three weeks ago during an online interview for his upcoming romance movie. The interview had lasted for fifteen minutes but he had been unable to keep his eyes away from you through his laptop screen, he even went off script once all of your questions had been answered by asking you were you were from so he could fly down and meet you in person.

“Simu” you whispered and gently pushed his gifted mouth off your neck before looking at him, your loud and rapid breaths echoing through the room. “What’s wrong, beautiful? Should I stop?” the concerned look on his face made you want to smash your lips against his again as he just looked so adorable, making your heart swell from joy and love.

Staring down at your left ring finger, you traced the new golden band that your finger adorned. Smiling, you remember the moment that changed your life forever. {Y/N} POV

“This LA traffic sure kills,” my manager said at the front of the car. We were currently on our way to the Billboard Music Awards, which was scheduled to start in thirty and we were about ten minutes away. The thing was, you could never be right abut how late you’re going to be in California. You’re either early or late, nothing in between.

Tonight, I was joined by my manager, my mom and a friend. My friend was the plus one because Justin was originally supposed to go with me but, he broke up with me just a week before the award show. Shocker, right? We soon reached the arena it was being held at and the valet was ready to take our car.

“Well here goes nothing, {Y/N}. We got this,” my manager said while getting out the car. My mom and friend exited the car, leaving just me in the car. I really didn’t want to do this or even be here but, I was nominated for two or three awards and I wasn’t going to skip it just because my ex was here. I was better than that. I exited the car and the crowd went wild once I was in sight.

My manager led the three of us through the crowd and we were stopped by E-News. “{Y/N}! Could we get just a quick word with you?” I said sure, walking over towards where they were set up. “Wow! Can we just say that you look absolutely stunning tonight? Anybody in mind that you’re trying to impress?”

“Oh no! I’m not here to impress anybody except myself!” I joked. “I’m honestly here to just enjoy myself and accept these awards for the fans!”

“One more question before you go!” They continued. “We know that you and Justin broke up. How are you feeling about possibly seeing him tonight? Any interaction?”

I thought for a moment before answering, “I’m not too sure about that. I think the real question here is if he’s going to show up.”

“Okay {Y/N}, thank you for your time. Everyone that was {Y/N} {Y/L/N} now we see…”

I walked past them and stopped and took a few pictures on the red carpet, as much as I hated doing that. Multiple people were calling my name to look here, there and everywhere. It was enough to give me a headache, and these flashing lights? Don’t even get me started. We moved along the carpet and we were soon inside. We were escorted to our seats and I looked about to see who was sitting close to us. Ariana Grande and her team were to the left of us and Shawn Mendes was to the right of us. I was definitely getting pictures with them.

“The next category is favorite pop song of the year. The nominees are.. Shawn Mendes, ‘Mercy’, Ariana Grande, ‘Side to Side’, featuring Nicki Minaj, {Y/N} {Y/L/N}, ‘{Y/S/T}’, Justin Bieber, ‘Company’!”

The competition in this category was pretty tough considering I was up against A-list celebs. I’d be beyond shocked if I actually won against Ariana or even Shawn. Of course I was up against Justin, how surprising!

“And the winner is… {Y/N} {Y/L/N}, ‘{Y/S/T}! Come on up {Y/N}!”

I was shocked to here my name be called. Was I dreaming? I hugged my manager and the other two who were with me. While hugging my mom, I noticed Justin was sitting just two rows behind me, staring at me. What was his problem? I ignored him and walked up to the stage to collect my award.

I walked over to the microphone, beginning to say my not-so planned speech. “Wow, I really wasn’t expecting this. Um,” I paused momentarily to look out at the audience filled with fans and celebrities and of course, I locked eyes with Justin. I nervously chuckled before continuing my speech. “I just want to thank my fans, family and my team. None of this would have been possible without you.”

After the awkward experience while being on stage, I couldn’t help but look back every so often to see if Justin was still staring at me, which he was. What a creep. The night went on and more and more awards were given out. Now, it was the end of the night and the award show was coming to a close.

“And now ladies and gentlemen, the final award of the night! The category is Favorite Pop Album of the Year! The competition was real in this one. Anyways, the nominees are: Justin Bieber, ‘Purpose’, Ariana Grande ‘Dangerous Woman’, Beyonce, ‘Lemonade’, Charlie Puth, ‘Nine Track Mind’, and lastly, {Y/N} {Y/L/N}, {Y/A/N}!”

All I really wanted was anybody besides me or Justin to win this. The tension in the room was already enough to kill me.

“And the winner is.. Justin Bieber, Purpose!”

Oh, dear. I could already tell we were going to be here all night with Justin’s speech.

I, after waiting almost three hours in this packed arena, finally got my pictures with Shawn and Ariana. This was what I was waiting for all night. I was getting done with my picture with Shawn, when Justin came into focus. I quickly thanked him and the tension from earlier returned. We stared at each for a few seconds since neither one of us knew what to say.

"Hey," he started, rocking back and forth on his heels. I assumed he didn't know what else to say because of his short remark.

"Congrats on the awards." I spoke up. It was a sincere congrats although I wish it wasn't. "You deserve it."

"Thanks, you too." He responded. "So, {Y/N} I was kind of wondering if maybe you wanted to go to an after party Scooter is hosting. It's cool if not, I'll understand."

"Uh, sure," I sheepishly said. I was unsure about my answer considering Justin and I were on rocky terms. "I'd love to go with you considering I'm not doing anything tonight."

"Great. Let's go."
