Review:

She's a musician who has had her music stolen and is now a nanny to her high school crush and he's the grumpy billionaire who is dealing with the fall out of his divorce and trying to connect with his son and definitely trying to not fall for his nanny. Ellie Sinclair is a songwriter, she loves music... only her ex best friend stole all her songs and became famous and now Ellie is dealing with trying to figure out how to get her songs back. Ellie also works as a nanny to a very grumpy single billionaire... who just happens to be her old highschool crush, Rafael Lopez. While Rafael might be handsome and rich, what he isn't is the nicest or most appreciative. Ellie loves Nico, Rafael's son, and she adores spending time with him, too bad his father makes it a bit harder to be around. Rafael is a workaholic who is struggling with the fall out of the divorce to his ex wife who not only cheated on him but refuses to see their son and demands spousal support, it definitely does not help his trust issues. Rafael wants one thing more than anything, to connect with his son... who only seems to want to hang out with the nanny. Rafael knows he shouldn't fall for his nanny, but temptation becomes harder to resist when they all go on a vacation together and Rafael is forced to finally face the fact that he might be in love with Ellie. Can two people who have had to deal with their trust being broken by others, trust one another with their hearts or is the damage too great? This was such a fun read, I absolutely adored Nico with all my heart. I think that the romance between Ellie and Rafael was really well done. They are two people who have both dealt with so much and yet have found a way to open up to one another and let each other in. The pacing of the story was great and the romance was just so much fun to read. I would absolutely recommend this book (it is the second in a series however you can read it as a standalone!). If you love romance, found family, and a bit of steam, absolutely give this book a go!

I read one book from Lauren Asher (The Fine Print) and mainly for the way everyone raved about how good it is, I expected it to be one of the best books I'll ever read. But I was wrong because it was awful lol

Now her new series is out and I'm tempted to read the second book... I might very well to be the victim of booktok/bookstagram yet again because the way some of you talk about it (and this series in general)... I'LL SUE ALL OF YOU IF IT'S NOT AS GOOD AS Y'ALL SAY

the slow burn was slow burning and i loved every second of it, oliver and charlee were lovely, there’s history, tension, angst, the connection between them just never left and i loved seeing it all come together 😌

This book is like a song I’d play on repeat! 

“Love Unwritten” follows Rafael Lopez, a struggling workaholic, and Ellie Sinclair, a songwriter hired to watch and teach music to his son. For eight months, the two coexist without any issues until a vacation changes everything. Fourteen days. Two islands. And an undeniable attraction that blurs lines whether they like it or not.

Rafael and Ellie’s love story tugged my heartstrings! The two are opposites in every way, but they could not be more perfect for each other. Asher is the queen of writing compelling characters and I could not get enough of reading from their respective points-of-view. I felt so seen by Rafael’s inclination to prioritize the happiness of others and Ellie’s fear of confrontation. 

“Love Unwritten” is tonally a little different from Asher’s previous books in that she broaches darker subjects like self harm and parental abandonment. I appreciate her taking great care in capturing Rafael’s trust issues and Ellie’s urge to take her emotions out on herself, detailing where those behaviors stem from and how each character copes. Through their point-of-views, the reader is privy to their internal battles and their respective journeys to healing.

Rafael and Ellie’s relationship development made me so emotional! They find each other when they need each other most. Watching them become more comfortable with themselves, their pasts, and each other made my heart so happy. Throughout the trip, the two confide in each other, letting down their walls so they can love each other fully. Their love also manifests in Nico. I love how Asher dedicates time to establishing a relationship between Rafael, Ellie, and Nico. Ellie’s unconditional devotion to Nico despite having no relation to him is so wholesome and the family unit they create made the ending all the more perfect.
