Summary: When Astronaut Mark Watney went to Mars, he knew there was a chance he'd never come home. Now, though, he's determined to last long enough for NASA to save him because this whole dying for science thing is not as fun as it sounds.

“So…what do you think?” Danny asked. He swung his legs off the ice-medical table, his core happily vibrating in its favorite setting: a cold, icy environment rich with ambient ectoplasm.

Frostbite towered above him, arms folded, his good arm tapping his ecto-ice prosthetic. He tilted his head back, his white jaw jutting out in thought. To his side, the head medic, Sleetjaw, stood in his traditional orange attire with claws clutching his clipboard. He mumbled something in Ghost that Danny couldn't quite make out, but Frostbite waved him off, stepping forward.

“Show me this power again, Great One?” Frostbite requested.

Danny stuck his hand out and called upon the shimmering energy that bubbled just under his skin like molten flames of emerald. The energy spiked, and he directed it to his hands, snapping his fingers to his palm as a trigger. Opening his palm, he stretched the green disc that had appeared with it, pulling it as much as he could—only a few inches across—until the bubble popped and its energy dissipated into nothing more than ambient ectoplasm particles.

“Yeah.” Danny absentmindedly shook out his wrist, batting away the sudden fatigue that had come with it. “Yeah, that's pretty much it.”

“Great One,” Frostbite said after a moment of silence. “I don't have to tell you what that is.”

Despite the chill, Danny could feel his neck prickle with nervous sweat. “What do you mean?”

The (long-ish) Review No One Needed Or Asked For ™ - Till The End of the Moon

Character-wise

Li Susu is our leading lady who travels back in time before the Devil God was, well, the Devil God and just the Devil Fetus *insert snickering here* because, "Maybe I can fix him and kill him." Morally ambiguous at times? Caught between feelings and justice? Sign me up.

Tantai Jin is the Devil Fetus *more snickering* who had it rough since Day 1. He literally came out the womb and it was that time. Pathetic hostage prince, manipulator, benevolent ruler, Wife Guy-- Cang Jiumin. My guys wears hats (wigs).

I'm a Susu apologist and to all you commenters who whined, Susu just love him and stop blah blah blah, No! She understood some of the assignment. Our characters are flawed, no one is perfect, (except one (1) Square and Vixen I said what I said) and you will be suing for emotional damages.

Plot-wise

We start off in real-time, where we see the Devil God (yassified) freaking wreck the 3 realms and 4 continents. Susu enters the fight with her weapon of choice (don't bring a harp to a knife fight) and is given the artifact that will make me overthink any timeline where time travel is involved. Before she goes back, she witnesses the death of everyone she loves very conveniently, because plot, die at the hands of the CGI crew (all of whom, might I add, deserve a raise).

500 years earlier, she is inserted into the body of Abuser, Ye Xiwu. Stockholm Syndrome or True Love? We don't know, but Tantai Jin (fetus) will somehow grow to love his wife (sidenote: he totally did something to himself peep episode 5/6 where that tree thing grows)(other side note, what's up with the continuous motif of tree and feelings? see: LBFAD).

I feel like the arc within an arc, though long and somewhat useful, could have been useful-er. I'm docking points for not nodding at plot thingies more for havimg lasted about 7 episodes but having 5 relevant points to the plot. Fight me. (Also, they fall in love in this lifetime but they're not them-- it's just continued contemplation of "why was I casted as x," when they can't freaking math and make it make sense).

Then after the Great Misunderstanding of episodes 24&25, we have to see our tragic love story be more tragic and wrap up this lifetime before we go Back to the Present (Future). If you haven't already, you will be cheering on our favorite Baddie being Badder.

Then we get stupid in the immortal rea-- housing development? Cang Jiumin is Tantai Jin in a different-ish wig pre yassification. He does more cultivating. He gets more hurt and scorn. He gets some action with his wife. He gets an outfit change.

The ending? I'm sobbing. I have been touched and I'm crying as I type this.

The Good, The Bad, The WTF

I liked that they were so enemies to lovers that I honestly did not see how they were going to ever be lovers. Good.

I liked our cast of characters-- brother Qingyu is the Square, Pian Ran is our favorite Vixen, Nian Baiyu needs a raise and Xiao Lin is Just Ken. Love it.

Episodes 36 and on-- the Bad.

Episode 39-- WTF. What made him think let's have this banging Goth Wedding so you'll hate me because, "I hate you." Yes, we are pseudo sleeping together in my Bo'Re Life because, "Susu you gotta hate me too," and when will the logic ever happen? I just think he needed to think through his justifications for his advancement of death more. Felt half baked imo.

And who made the rules? I thought when he absorbs the Devil God's Favorite Things and the evil bone *persistent snickering* then it was evil onsite? Last time I checked, Jin was still home.

Who decided Sang Jiu taking away Ming Ye's voice during The Sex was sexy (see: a dream within a dream)?!

Why did y'all embrace the freaking Lord of Evil when he's called The LORD of EVIL. Get me outta the simulation!

Yeah the book is unusually dark. Pryce and Carter have clearly been through some stuff, or it's Cutter being ominous with his ghost written book. At this point, he either wrote it under fake names, or he's a Pryce and Carter fanboy. (Is it spelled Pryce or Price, I just realized I have no idea. I've heard of the last name Pryce, so I'd assume that's how it's spelled?).

Well that was amazing. I loved the way the cast used the space to make the characters come alive, the way they moved, the choices they made, it all fit really well. I really enjoyed watching this. It brought me back to when I used to do high school theater. I kinda of miss it. Hilbert, Cutter, and Doug are exactly the kind of overdramatic and unhinged roles I always loved playing (that is if I was lucky enough to have a director who went for gender bent casting, we as a society really need more comedic relief and unhinged women roles with crazy accents). Although I did once win a medal at state in middle school for a 10 minute monologue that was very much in the tone of Minkowski. I was playing a babysitter.

And ask the show said: back to work. Thanks everyone for listening, I hope you enjoyed my reaction. Only two more episodes left in season two so we should be done soon. Excited to see what comes next!

Finally finished what is out from season 5 so far! You know, given how long I sometimes wait between watching episodes, it's sometimes easy to think I'm just part of the fandom, and forget how good the show actually is. But no, it actually is good, and it keeps getting better. The eight episodes I watched today were great. Not all equal, not all flawless, sure, whatever. But they were fun and I had a great time watching it.

The show is still great at being adorable and passable at action. The romance is so much fun. I was spoiled on most twists, but they were still fun to see in context, like Zoé being in love. I found that I didn't even hate Feligami, much to my surprise, and the whole sentimonster stuff was okay and interesting.

Bonus shoutout to Ada. Yes, barely a character, but I love every reference to Ada Lovelace, and I liked her NASA-like logo. Apart from that, wow, they really keep hammering home how great Adrigaminette would be, don't they? It's like they actively want me to ship it. Which I do, of course.

Miraculous Ladybug is a fun show that keeps getting better as it goes on. It's probably pointless since I assume everyone following me already has an opinion (even if it's just "annoying, not what I followed you for"), but still: I really recommend it.

Starfield book, five years in the making, is over 1,000 pages long

A massive Starfield book with more than 1,000 pages is now available for download. It details the development of the Bethesda RPG game from its original unveiling in 2018 to the upcoming Starfield release date. It compiles every screenshot, rumour, fact, and Todd Howard quote about the upcoming space opera from the previous five years. Written by a very devoted fan and Starfield historian, it offers a thorough history of the Starfield pre-release period and how Bethesda gradually revealed its successor to Skyrim. This will be an essential resource if you want to reflect back on those early days, when all we had was some concept art, or examine the operation of the most ambitious pre-launch campaign in recent video game history. “Before the 2022 showcase for Starfield came out, I made a 120 page document going through every single interview, trailer, and concept art that had ever been released about Starfield,” author ‘Gokamo’ explains. “With so much information so spread out, I wanted to make a single source with all of it. Then, after the 2022 showcase, I increased that to a massive 409 pages, and up to 459 before this year’s showcase. “When I started working on the Starfield Direct, I never would have guessed that I would reach well over 1000 pages, but here we are. Today's film was a very buggy (due to my computer having little ram) low res version of Black Mirror s06e04 Mazey Day. I have chosen to not watch any Black Mirror so far. I don't like bummer endings, don't like dystopias,

Charlie Brooker aka mr Huq has fantastic taste in women but a bleak view of humanity. I can handle it in his real life commentary on the real life media which needs exposing as vultures but getting attached then having characters live in your mind is something else.

Anyway someone said "this is very different to black mirror, it's not even about tech". And the name Mazey Day is a reference to an old english (read pagan) celebration. It was dark and a bummer. But I did enjoy the story which will haunt me for a long while. It's set in an era where I had gone off the grid for entertainment news including all talk radio or variety shows: the things late night hosts asked of women celebs were just awful (seriously go look at early aughts interviews), not to mention the gossip rags. Horrible time to be even white skinny toned beautiful and talented, it was never enough and literal bombshells were riddled with "imperfections"...

I found out about Britney via mainstream news and thought her shaving her head was a badass reclaiming of personhood in front of all those news crews. Then instead of giving her space, they got her sectioned.

Anyway well acted, horribly lit, good build of dread, you think you know this story but it's a morality play.

Then I read Beyond Uhura as the computer was starting to really struggle and I'd been meaning to try it for a while.

You see it's printed really big (very heavy for a 300 page book) so once I managed to get myself in a position where my neck was safe and arms weren't carrying the book (lots of pillow and duvet finagling and a winter shawl for the neck), I was actually able to read it in one go.

Even without the neck problems, with smaller print I get about 100 pages before it's just grey blobs or I get dizzy-nauseated from eye strain. That's on the days when reading isn't repeating the same sentence, parsing a paragraph as illegible, reading the words but when it arrives at the brain it seems to make no sense, missing a vital ' not' or 'never' and then not understanding the next sentences...

Guess the answer is stick to old people prints and short books 😜

I really enjoyed getting to know the actress and consumate performer better. Really touched about her mum finally opening up and them becoming mother and daughter on an emotional level not just practical care for eachother. It was a missing piece in her life she'd learned to live without but still craved and she finally got that. Just beautiful.

I feel like she managed to carefully compartmentalise her conflicted feelings about Gene Roddenberry, maybe a little too much. Just because she managed to reinvent herself with her other talents doesn't make his choice to deny her a rare chance at job security incredibly cruel.

She certainly managed to present her constant disappointment at being undermined and undervalued as amorphous 'bad suits' when I'm pretty sure women with her savvy have receipts and remember names - I guess that's why her lawyer gets a shoutout in the beginning.

It is a kind book which takes time to say what Bill Shatner could be like at his best or when in his element then she presents the change as him getting lost and not realising he had a team/family who would have his back. Very kind. Graceful. Classy.

Her book is from 95 and her comments about NASA not being sold off to contractors and not keeping the experts in control are prescient. It's also painful to know she would lose a brother two years later to a cult.

I'm torn with what we've been told about her final years, she adored her son, she was also fiercely independent and loved passionately. I can only hope she felt loved and safe no matter her sanity. What a driven, bold, tenacious woman she was.
