Meet Milla Weaver, daughter of the Miller from Rumplestiltskin
Destined to live happily ever after, only if she figures out Rumplesiltskins real name or she looses her daughter
Milla isn’t in love with her destined partner, the future king of her story, she’s in fact in love with another Prince (Prince Nolan, the next Iron stove prince to be exact)
She and her dad have a tough relationship, after all he nearly gets her killed and also gets her locked up in a tower until she spins gold
But she cares for him in her own way
Her mother died when she was around 12 of an illness, but Milla thanks her almost everyday for protecting her when she was a baby from rumple himself
Oh yeah her father lost his kingdom after her death, hence why he lies to the king so he can seem important and get some sort of power
Milla is tough, keeps to herself but also knows when to ask for help. Although those who get close to her know she’s extremely emotional and can easily break down.
She’s smarter then most at ever after, since she does have to outsmart rumplestiltskin. That takes guts and a lot of brain power.
So Milla tutors some of the other kids, that’s how she met Nolan!
She’s always seen with some of her royal friends (Ashlynn and Blondie) but she hangs out with Cedar and Maddie from time to time.

You would THINK that Princess Savior Emma Charming Swan becoming The Dark One would make all the High Horse Masters Of Empathy Most Kind And Compassionate And Loving And Forgiving people in the world think "hm maybe being the dark one is a horrible curse that severely damages your psyche and 'resisting the darkness' is not as simple as it sounds and the world is not all black and white and it's very difficult to be the loved ones of the dark one and a person can be helped out of extreme darkness and even when someone is doing something bad they still deserve compassion and there can still be a good person inside of them and we can choose to forgive some very horrific things for the sake of helping someone we care about because we know that deep down this is not the person they really are and these 'dark' actions might be indicative of a much larger issue that we cannot comprehend from the outside" but no. No they said "actually she is an angel goddess and she could crush multiple hearts in front of our eyes and we would say 'awe babygirl would you like some hot chocolate?' But Rumplestiltskin is the scum of the earth and we hate his stupid face. There is no need to take any measures to protect his life because we actually don't think he counts as A Person bc we hate him so much. Ew."

Hook's curse
One shot
Word count: 3,048
Warnings: Slightly depressing
Notes: This bitch LOOONG. Like I definitely had even more ideas to write in this bad boy, but I feel like that woudl be too much. Like this is already big and chonky.
Everyone knew they couldn't rest, even with Pan kept in the trap Gold, or rather Rumplestilstkin, kept in his possession, just to make sure his father didn't accidentally come out and run free again.
Yet they all longed for a moment of peace and quiet, so the group walked into Granny's and settled wherever they found it comfortable, Emma with 'Henry' and Regina at one of the booths, in the next booth Mary Margaret and David while the two pirates sat at the counter, feeling the need for a drink, maybe a heavy one at that.
While they ate, drank and conversed, Pan in Henry's body thought out his plan. Since the pirates have been reunited after the Evil Queen's curse, he felt as if it was his job to break them apart again, just to wound further on one of his longest enemies. He decided on adding one more thing to his curse, just so it provided him the wanted effect. He needed Felix to find something that belonged to Y/N and Killian, something that proved their love for each other. He hid the smirk behind his hand as he looked around before settling his eyes and ears back onto Emma and Regina.
Some time later, the curse was almost done. Yes, everyone found out about Henry being in Pan's body and Pan in Henry's at some point, but that didn't matter. His plan was perfect and he was ready to set it into motion. He was back in his own body, he had more freedom of action.
Everyone stood frozen in place in the middle of the street while Pan walked around them, the scroll with the curse in his hand. Snow and Charming close to each other, Neal, Henry and Emma next to one another while Killian hid Y/N behind himself, wanting to protect him from the flying forever young maniac. Peter did not care for Hook at the moment, but rather that somebody behind him. He observed Y/N and the drop of nervous sweat that ran down the side of his forehead and he smirked devilishly, but not in the good kind of way, no. A way that only spoke of harm.
-Well, since we're all gathered here like a good old family… No. We're not a full family, certain people are missing - Peter said, looking around with a smug smirk on his face. He knew eventually the coward that was his son had to show up. What he didn't expect was how exactly he would show up and with what.
-Looking for somebody, father? - Gold said, saying the word 'father' as if it was a disease and it left a bad aftertaste in his mouth. Maybe it did, but what mattered was stopping Pan from completing the curse. He took a step forward, knowing that there was no other way for ending this whole fiasco.
They talked for a brief moment before Rumplestiltskin took one more step towards Pan, acting as if his whole deal was to hug his father, yet he manifested out his dark one dagger and stabbed Pan's back, at the same time piercing his own chest, ending both of their lives. Belle's cries and wallowing could be heard as he saw her lover's body drop.
Regina swooped in and took the curse, putting alterations to it. She changed it as much as she could, but omitted one little thing that she at that point didn't notice. She put in that a true love's kiss would still work if needed and made it so that everyone from the Enchanted Forest would go back there. Well, not everyone. A certain pirate will be left behind, but they'll get to know about it when the curse sweeps them away into their world.
That meant that Emma and Henry had to leave. They'll forget everything that had happened, but Regina made sure to give them the best of, while fake, memories with each other. As much as it broke everyone's hearts, the two packed and got ready on the line of Storybrooke for departure from the town that held so many memories, literally and metaphorically speaking. They said their goodbyes with the green smoke on the horizont, swallowing everyone on its way and sending them back to the Enchanted Forest, before they got into the yellow beatle car and drove off over the line, forgetting everything and everyone but about themselves.
Y/N and Killian stood there, holding each other in their arms as they awaited the cursed green smoke to take them too. They shared a one, literally, last kiss before they too went back to their realm. Or so they thought. Everyone landed on the grass, not far away from where Aurora and her prince. They all stood there and thought what to do next since they're back again, go back to their old lives? Find a way back to Storybrooke? They needed to somehow get to Emma and Henry, they just needed to.
Killian looked around when he didn't find his husband next to him after appearing in the Enchanted Forest, calling out his name, hoping to hear his response and thinking, hoping, that it was just a minor separation due to the curse being chaotic and he was somewhere near, but when he didn't find him or hear his voice calling back to him, he started panicking. He ran up to Regina.
-Where the bloody hell is he, Regina?! - he questioned the woman that stood there on the side, back in her Evil Queen outfit, clearly standing out from the others. She looked at him weirdly. She didn't expect him to just shout at her when she saw him approaching.
-First of all, stop yelling at me or I'm going to deprive you of another part of your body, more specifically your tongue, second of all who are you talking about, pirate? - she asked him, a scowl on her face as she put her hands on her hips. Killian looked at her angrily, raising his hooked arm and pointing it Regina's way.
-Hold your threats, witch. What did you do to him, where's Y/N? - he questioned her further on, his voice raising more the angrier he got. He needed to know where his husband is otherwise he would to lose his mind. They got separated once and now they were separated again, he couldn't take it anymore. What if villains really couldn't have a happy ending?
-He's not here? He should be, I made it specifically so everyone who was from the Enchanted Forest would come back here! Did you look for him properly? - she asked the pirate, now getting anxious herself, but she couldn't help but still hold some snark to her tone, thinking that the man probably didn't look well enough and is creating chaos for nothing.
-Of course I bloody did! You think I'd come here if I hadn't done that already? - he snapped back at her, the scowl on his face deepening as he once more looked around in blind hope of seeing the face of the one he loved.
-Fine! I'll try and do a locating spell. Got anything of his? - Regina asked, pulling her palm in front of her towards the pirate, silently asking for the said thing and when he put the golden chain necklace with a matching in colour band caught through it into her hand, she inspected it before doing the spell as she said she would. The thing is that the spell didn't work.
-Why isn't it working? It should work, shouldn't it! What does that mean? - he started another series of questions, his nerves getting the better of him as he worried for his husband. What if he was all alone somewhere dangerous? Obviously he knew that Y/N could defend himself and kick some serious ass. That was one of the main reasons why he fell in love with him so hard, but he still couldn't help but worry for his lover. He wouldn't know what he'd do if something happened to his badass, but also sweet lover.
-It can mean a couple of things. I'm really hoping to cross one of them off. Are you sure this belongs to him and not you? - she asked, turning the chain around in her palm, observing it for any sign of the magic spell answering her call. Nothing.
-Obviously it's his, I've got mine here. He gave it to me during the trip to Neverland, he always does when we go to knwon to be dangerous adventures, saying that he 'would lose it during fighting or running' so I could keep it safe for him. I was supposed to give it back to him but I kept forgetting about it because of the whole situation with Pan and his damn shadow - Killian explained, frustrated out of his mind, he was so close to pacing around like a mother hen worried for her children. If the damn spell didn't work, he'll find him himself.
-Hook… You know that leaves only two options… He's either still in Storybrooke, not sure how, or he's dead - she said carefully. Despite not really being close to Y/N or to the one handed pirate, she didn't hold any grudges against him, he had never done anything to her, for a pirate he has been… Nice. She could also see the distressed look on Hook's face and certain memories came back to her. Memories she wanted to leave behind, she had to focus on Henry. That's why she told him a quiet and quick "I'm sorry" and left toward the forest that surrounded them.
Killian stood there, not believing even for a second that Y/N was dead. He just couldn't and would not, ever. Y/N was too strong of a bastard to just leave the mortal plane like that, leave HIM like that. Despite that, he couldn't help the feeling that told him that something bad had happened and that even if he thought of his husband so, even his headstrong lover wasn't able to fight and win with everything or everyone.
Months have passed as Killian continued his search for Y/N. He first searched the Enchanted Forest. No sign of his husband. He visited many kingdoms that they have ever traveled to together. Nothing. He even went back to the damn Neverland and he still came out empty handed. He was on the brink of tears as he held tightly onto the chain necklace that he so wished he could return to Y/N right now while leaning over the railing of his beauty of a ship. That's also when he got that bottle with a potion and a message to get it to Emma. He hesitated for a long time if he should be the one to find the saviour but his reasoning was that if he found her, maybe she would be able to help him in finding Y/N. So he traded his ship for a way to get to the other world where Storybrooke still existed. Oh if only his husband were to hear about this. Killian Jones selling their damn ship. He would probably murder him, but also understand that it was for 'the greater good', even though Killian thought that Y/N was the greatest good he could ever even get.
When Hook landed back in the realm where everyone he knew were just fairytales, right in the middle of some alley, but exactly where he needed to be since he just saw a flash of blonde coloured hair pass through one of the high story building's windows. Then he saw it again and sure enough, the saviour herself, while not remembering she was one, stood close to the glass pane, clearly talking to somebody, more likely Henry. He estimated what floor and which apartment they could live on before quickly getting inside into the building and knocking on the doors as quickly as he could.
He didn't know what he was expecting but getting kneed into his crotch area definitely wasn't it after he tried explaining everything of what happened and what needed to happen, adding the fact that he needed her help in finding Y/N. He didn't let that stop him though. He had to find you and Emma was his only hope.
-Swan, could you please just listen to me? And don't hit me! Your name is Emma Swan, your parents are Mary Margaret and David other known as Snow White and Prince Charming. You have a son, his name is Henry, but Henry also has an adoptive mother Regina who's the Evil Queen, but everyone right now needs you back in the Enchanted Forest. Please, you're the only one who can help, I'm not sure with what exactly, I just know that it's urgent - he explained quickly, putting his arms up in defeat and as a meaning of 'no harm', the dark blue bottle held tightly in his hand.
The woman looked at him before threatening him to call the police and slamming the door in front of his face. He sighed in annoyance and frustration but he didn't give up. He couldn't. So when he encountered her outside this time, he didn't waste time in trying again, but was baffled when Emma actually did notify the police and they took him to an arrest. Yet after some time, she came back and bailed him out, saying that she changed her mind when it came to pressing charges. He was surprised that she actually came back for him, but he still couldn't help from his salty remarks about it.
She agreed to drink the potion and when she did, regaining her memories back, she immediately pulled Hook into a tight hug and asking where Y/N was. When the man explained the situation, she had a mortified look on her face before quickly stating that they have to go back to Storybrooke. Emma and Henry packed, going back to the little town with Hook and even though nothing helped to break the new curse that has brought everyone back to Storybrooke, they didn't lose hope. Killian couldn't lose hope, he couldn't lose Y/N, he had to find him.
While Emma tried to regain Henry's memories, Killian looked everywhere for anything that would tell him where his lover could be. He had searched and searched, he had even read the kid's damn book with fairytales. Nothing. If he was able to, he would make a deal even with the Dark One himself if it meant finding you. And one day he did.
Regina broke the curse that was put onto the citizens' of the town, kissing Henry on his forehead, a sign of true love and when everything was back to normal, well, almost back to normal, they decided to help the pirate in his search for Y/N. They searched high and low, wanting to use the traditional methods first but when nothing worked, they decided to use magic first. This time Emma performed the locating spell.
-Killian, give me the necklace. I don't promise any results, but I'll try my best to help you find him - she said to the pirate as she took the necklace from him, trying to lift up his spirits after seeing that he truly was wearing himself thin while trying to get his husband back. Again.
When she used the spell, the necklace started levitating and quickly left Emma's hands, flying off into the direction of Gold's pawn shop. Everyone ran after it but nobody understood why it would go over there. They've already searched that place and there was no sign of you. Yet when they got inside and the necklace dropped into the case were they kept Pan, or rather Henry in Pan's body, everything clicked. Regina quickly opened the case with magic, letting Y/N's unconscious body fall to the ground.
-Y/N! - Killian shouted out, quickly dropping to his knees next to his husband, taking him into his arms and pushing away strands of his hair from his face. A face that he had missed so dearly. A face that he'd love to have staring back at him and not just rest under the sleeping curse.
-You know what you have to do Hook. I've already undo one curse. You have to undo yours. Let your love for him win over that fear of not being pure enough. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, but I believe that even if we're the villains, we can have a happy ending. So get yours while you can - Regina said to him, oddly sympathetic of her, saying out loud what he feared the most. He was scared that he wasn't good enough, that he wouldn't be able to wake Y/N up, but he had to try, even if it would hurt if the kiss wouldn't work, he still had to give it a go.
That's why he leaned down and softly pressed his lips to Y/N, pouring all of his love and longing for him into it, a tear even slipping from underneath his closed eyelids, landing right onto Y/N's cold oddly warm cheek. When nothing happened at first, he was heartbroken and his soul was crushed but after a second, a ripple of magic went through the whole town and the man of his life that he currently held in his arms opened his eyes. Killian felt a big surge of relief wash over him as he grinned with teary eyes at his husband who weakly smiled back at him before, not quite understanding why he was crying. Y/N put his hand on top of Killian's cheek and rose up a bit to press a sweet kiss of his own against his husband's quivering lips, wanting to calm him down and when he succeeded, he broke away from the kiss and sent him another loving smile, stroking his cheek before looking around and seeing the whole group containing Neal, David, Mary Margaret, Belle, Regina, Henry and Emma staring at them with equally relieved and happy smiles on their faces.
-So what did I miss? - he asked with a raised eyebrow and a smirk.

Season 2 Rewatch Drabbles--2x11 The Outsider
Summary: A series of 100-500 word drabbles to accompany my rewatch of season 2 of Once Upon a Time as an attempt to finally jump start the muse again. There will be a drabble–either a deleted scene, a “fix it” fic or a character musing for each episode of the season. Focus will be on Emma, Henry, the Charmings and Killian–with an emphasis on the very beginnings of Captain Swan’s epic love story, as soon as a certain dashing pirate makes his appearance.

Note: This particular selection is a bit different from my previous drabbles. @kmomof4 demanded--not asked, demanded, lol--I write this drabble as a “fix-it” fic, as Belle’s reaction to Hook’s revelations about Rumple was...shall we say...less than satisfying.
“Died?” Hook spat, getting in Belle’s face “Like it was some kind of accident. Is that what he told you?”
Dread coiled in her stomach.
“He…he didn’t say.”
“Of course not. Of course he’d leave out the most important detail of her passing,” he said bitterly.
“And what would that be?” Belle asked in a small voice, his tone of voice telling her she really didn’t want to know.
“He killed her,” he said. His voice was little more than a whisper, but he might as well have shouted for the impact his words had. “He ripped out her heart, and he crushed it right in front of me.”
“No,” she moaned. It couldn’t be! He’d told her Hook killed Milah, hadn’t he?
No, she realized. He refused to answer, cleverly sidestepping. Why wouldn’t he answer her questions? Was it possible Hook was telling the truth?
“Oh yes, yes. He would do anything, anything to hold onto his power,” Hook said, raising the gun lazily once again. “Why do you think anyone who’s ever gotten close to him has either run away or been killed? Now what makes you think you’ll be any different?”
She wanted to protest his words, wanted to insisted Rumple’s heart was true and Hook’s was rotten, but that little scene from earlier today kept running through her mind.
“Well, I’m not just gonna sit here and do nothing!” Belle insisted.
Rumple rushed toward her, white hot anger on his face. “No, you’re going to go back to the library, lock the door and wait for me to dispense with this problem.”
“And if I don’t?” she asked defiantly, refusing to be cowed by him. “You’ll, you’ll cast some spell that gives me no choice?”
He’d insisted he had no intention of doing such a thing, but Belle could see it in his eyes, the desire to bend her to his will with whatever means necessary. She’d convinced herself it was simply a matter of him wanting to protect her, but now she wasn’t so sure. Now she wondered if there might be more to it, something decidedly sinister.
“I…” she said, hating the waver in her voice, “I don’t know. I just don’t know.”
Hook lowered his hand, going so far as to place the gun on the counter between them, his face showing a hint of something that might be sympathy. “I’d advise you not to find out. The woman I loved found out just what kind of man Rumplestiltskin was far too late, and I’ve had to bear the price of it ever since.”
Her heart plummeted even farther. She knew there was still good in Rumple, she knew it, but it wouldn’t do him any good if he refused to choose that good over his own power, and as much as she hated to admit it, Belle couldn’t be sure he’d ever choose her over power.
“I’ll consider your words,” Belle said, edging past him toward the door. Likely she’d think of little else for a good long time. In one conversation, everything had changed. Suddenly she began to wonder if the relationship she’d thought was so strong and enduring was actually built on sand.

I've given it some thought... a lot of thought, actually... and I think I'm gonna reject the idea of Rumple becoming the Dark One again in S5 when it comes to my blog canon.
.
So, in my blog canon, when Rumple is freed of the Dark Curse at the end of S4 he believes himself to be human again, until in a dangerous situation - the scene that plays in my mind is him and Belle hiding in the backroom from Merida, but that could be changed - he throws his hand out on instinct to shield himself and Belle / Henry / whoever he's with if we change the situation, not thinking about not having magic anymore, only feeling the enormous need to protect... and Merida or whoever is threatening them is thrown back by a blast of light.
And thus Rumple finds out he still has magic - 300+ years of studying and practicing magic don't just disappear, after all, and there are examples of witches / wizards that learnt to do magic.
Whether it's light magic, he's not sure. Doesn't quite like the idea and the obligations that come with it of himself all of a sudden being called a light wizard or a hero or something, so he prefers to call it neutral magic, or just magic.
But one thing is certain - it's not dark magic anymore.
The Darkness left, and Rumplestiltskin remained, but who he is now is for him to discover ( hopefully with support of his family and friends ).

TL;DR: my Rumple never became the Dark One again after the Curse was purged from him at the end of S4 but he does have magic and from S5 onward is in the process of rediscovering himself, much like Regina is after S2;
hopefully, at this point he is definitely close with and is considered a member of the Charming-Mills-Swan-Gold clan, but ideally I would love to think / write of him growing closer with them since Neverland, as that would be a logical continuation of his redemption arc

Caro's August Book Rec Wrapup
Books! I read a lot of them in August, as I read a lot of them in basically every month because wow life is life.
I really loved beginning (still have two books left!) Kristen Callihan's Darkest London series. It was all the Gothic romance + paranormal + historical romance trends + hot sex shit I want out of historical paranormals. I also knocked out two great queer ARCs, Fly with Me by Andie Burke and A Nobleman's Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel by KJ Charles. And I conquered a classic. Check out the recs!
Firelight by Kristen Callihan.
I love historical romance. I love paranormal romance. So it's no surprise that I love both; but I really can't emphasize how excited I am about this series. It's a bit dark, a lot adventurous, and lushly romantic with a solid dose of angst. You have a tortured hero who ruined himself in pursuit of immortality, the innocent but bold heroine he can't resist (who has a big secret of her own) and this really Gothic vibe that I find irresistible. I am. Obsessed.
Moonglow by Kristen Callihan.
Although I do think they definitely benefit from being read in order, the Darkest London series can technically be read as standalones. I'm so super impressed by this series, and Moonglow is such a standout. Even stronger than the first book, it's funny and hot and heartbreaking. You're basically pairing the two slutty, slutty side characters from the previous book, bringing in some werewolf politics and trauma (and an extremely hot carriage scene) and topping it off with some of the most romantic shit I've ever read. Such a good werewolf book. Such a good romance novel. I was riveted, and I was surprised by some of the bold swings this book took. An absolute banger.
Baron by Joanna Shupe.
One of the funnier, sexier "rich upper crust man can't believe he's falling in love with a poor" books I've read. Will Sloane is in fact... kind of the worst, but in a way that's both sexy and endearing. And I really appreciated that, as a heroine, Ava was undeniably susceptible to his charms--but very aware of her personal responsibilities, and self-respecting enough to take control of the situation. Also, love the backdrop of the medium frenzy in Gilded Age America.
Winterblaze by Kristen Callihan.
My new favorite marriage in trouble book, made all the better by the fact that there's like... a Rumplestiltskin issue involved? here, we have a very hardcore, very mercenary heroine and the man she's been married to for fourteen fucking years and really had no idea what was going on in her personal life. They love each other deeply; and their love is deeply complicated. He withholds himself out of anger, and then loses his shit when she wears a pink dress because the pink of the gown against the red of her hair reminds him of her vagina, and he sure does lOVE that vagina. It's amazing and I severely recommend it.

This series is nothing but winners; and this book takes a darker turn, as, heads up, both the hero and heroine are survivors of sexual assault, among other things. He's hard-edged and determined to protect her from The Truth, which makes him quite a bit of a dick, and she's secretive and cool and remote, but also desperate to Know him. It's an angsty, at points difficult read, but still quite impressive.
Evernight by Kristen Callihan.
A demon man is turned into a mech-type atrocity by a woman who was forced to act, and is now bound to said woman because her touch is very literally the only thing that soothes his mind and body. Fucking amazing premise and she follows through. Will calling Holly "My Evernight"? Lol I'm fucking gone. Ill-advised sex, cage fight adventures, orgasmic biting, an incredibly tense last 25% or so where I was near tears because how will they work this shit out??? Yes yes yes.
In Which Margo Halifax Earns Her Scandalous Reputation by Alexandra Vasti.
A fabulously funny and sexy debut novella which you can get for free (along with the other Halifax novellas) on Alexandra's website! The thing I love about Margot is that she is kind of in a state of arrested development, which is rare to find in heroines, especially historical heroines. Like, she should be progressing a lot faster than she is. She needs to grow the fuck up; but she doesn't quite know how. It's honestly a pretty affirming messy girl book in that sense. But it also perfectly encapsulates not only how important pacing is in a romance, but the aching, pining yearning of a good brother's best friend book. Henry wants this crazy bitch so bad. It's glorious. God bless him.
In Which Matilda Halifax Learns the Value of Restraint by Alexandra Vasti.
Controversial but brave--this one may have worked for me even more. Which, shocker, I prefer the one with the (light) BDSM and the grumpy older hero. But the romance had me sold as soon as it became clear that Matilda is a Secret Freak and this older gentleman is soooo into it and sooooooo guilty about that. The terse note exchanges, the play, the cat shenanigans, Matilda hiding out at this scary man's big house. Just. Loved it. So much.
Salt in the Wound by Sierra Simone.
This prequel novella to Sierra's upcoming Lyonesse trilogy should be required reading before said trilogy. It's rich, it's dark, it's intensely erotic, and it establishes a fascinating push-pull between the kind of calculating and kind of innocent Isolde and the threatening, but alluring man she's being forced to marry. Mark is... a fucking lot. And in a lot of ways I think this book is a good intro to Sierra's ouvre, because it's on the shorter side, it's very much entrenched in her world, and it's a little taboo but nothing compared to say, her Thornchapel series. It's extremely hot, extremely angsty, and I can't wait for the rest of the series.
Snow Place Like L.A. by Sierra Simone and Julie Murphy.
I really like these Christmas Notch books. They're so cute and, even when they aren't super Christmassy like this one, weirdly festive. The kind of romcoms I enjoy, where much sex is had and the vibe is cheery but emotional. This is a m/m second chance novella, with a very good bathtub scene, much love for romcom excellence, and a satisfying conclusion in every sense.

Kiss of Steel by Bec McMaster.
McMaster creates a really interesting paranormal-steampunk world, where there are monsters everywhere and a social structure curving around them. I really enjoy a "heroine sells her soul to scary hero to save her family but then it turns out he's like, obsessed with her" setup, which is what this book has. There's vampiric eroticism, a hero with a cockney accent named BLADE who actually is extremely soft for the heroine (except not where it counts). It's very solid.
Heart of Iron by Bec McMaster.
In some ways I liked this one more than Kiss of Steel, because the hero is a vIRGINAL WEREWOLF BODYGUARD and the heroine is a flirty debutante type who's in way over her head. It's a great clash of uptight man x flighty girl, and there's a lot of tension because... the werewolf virus can be spread through sex, and if she gets the virus she probably won't survive. So they can't have sex. But they really want to have sex (and there is a great scene where they get creative). A great setup, love werewolf STIs.

My favorite Hell's Belles book yet, because Tommy Peck can absolutely not handle this whirlwind of a woman who literally blows up his life. While there is a plot arc and all that, this book is very focused on the romance and character development, which I love. Imogen is such an amazing heroine, and Tommy fully rises to the occasion (in every sense). I also really love the scene where he has to suck on her tits in front of people ("has to") because they're pretending to be a sex worker and a john, bye.
In Which Winnie Halifax is Utterly Ruined by Alexandra Vasti.
The Halifax brother gets his book, and he is! Hot! This is a "I didn't know I had a wife" book, which I love, and the heroine is a sheep farmer? How fun. Because Winnie isn't quite as fucking balls out insane as Margo or Matilda, I think this is probably my least favorite of the trilogy, but it's still really fucking good. Our hero is both sweet and hot, a difficult combination, and he's younger than her? SCANDALE! Lovely, romantic, so good.
Scandalous Passions by Nicola Davidson.
A quick, super hot Tudor-era FFM menage romance with a sizable helping of femdom. One heroine is a domineering, sexually liberated widow who used to be the king's mistress and is now being booted from court by his wife; the other is a shy but curious virgin who's been locked in a convent all her life. Their escort? A big dangerous knight guy who's actually a FUCKING SWEETHEART and doesn't want to talk a lot because of his stutter. Which. My fucking heart. Lachlan. He got me immediately, and his relationship with Janet and Marjorie was kind of incredible. They all fall in love with each other, to be clear, and it's both super sexy and remarkably pure. I loved it.
Two Wrongs Make a Right by Chloe Liese.
This is one of those fake dating contemporary setups which is objectively insane, but it's a retelling of Much Ado About Nothing so it's fine I'm good with it. Adding to the story is a hero whose tenseness is actually anxiety, and a heroine on the spectrum with sensory issues. It's quite sweet and the writing has a brisk, refreshing tone I liked a lot. The last quarter or so does have a contrivance I wasn't a fan of, but I still came away from the book really liking it, which is difficult for me with normal contemporaries.
Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale.
I've loved every one of the three Kinsale books I've read (and I'm taking it slow... she only has about a dozen books out and doesn't seem to write anymore) and while Shadowheart remains my favorite... Holy shit, this is so good. A masterpiece. Beautifully written, gorgeously romantic, hot in a unique way I can't even get into... (Suffice to say, if you have a thing for when a religious heroine is corrupted~ by a slutty slutty man, you'll like this.) It's everything people hyped it up to be and more.
Give the Devil His Duke by Anna Bradley.
I went into this with no concept of Bradley or her work, and it was so good! Not super complex in terms of plot, but with enough heft to make it matter. Funny, sexy, and it sold the rake hero who has his big Clueless "I'M BUTT CRAZY IN LOVE WITH JOSH [FRANCESCA]" moment only after he basically pitches himself to the floor begging her to stay with him. I had a very good time, and I'm happy to have found a new author.

82. More than half are Once Upon a Time as that was the fandom I started writing with my AO3.
2. What’s your total ao3 word count?
942,705 which is annoying. I have quit fanfic for the time being and not having made the million is disappointing. I mean I have written more than a million I am sure as I never cross posted anything from my fanfic.net account and I have some on my HD I never posted.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
None at the moment. I still have much affection for Sanctuary, Warehouse 13, The Librarians and Star Trek. There were a number of ideas on my list that I never got round to writing. I feel nostalgia for it but with my spoons (or lack thereof lately) I have to choose. I can’t write original and fanfic, and for now I am wanting to write original.

Fall All Over Again (Once Upon a Time) - 181
Before the first Dark Curse the Evil Queen had a paranoid moment, which meant in cursed Storybrooke, Gold and Lacey were married. Therefore when Belle falls over the town line - Lacey returns. Everyone is shouting at her, and everything is wrong, so Lacey does something she never did once in 28 years of marriage, she turns to Gold for protection. In turn Rumplestiltskin does something that Gold never did in 28 years of marriage - he tells Lacey that he loves her. Belle loved him, so can Lacey fall for him all over again or will the curse mask true love forever?
and the Brighter side of Life (The Librarians) - 150
When Eve takes Flynn home, to meet her parents, she realises with dawning horror that he’s the first serious boyfriend they’ve ever met. The secrets of the library mean her parents know so little about her life, and her new status as an immortal threatens to create a gulf between them. But for now she still has her parents, and it seems if her mom has anything to say about it, the entire annex has gained her parents too.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes mostly. AO3 has stopped emailing me even though my profile says I should get them (I have checked and they aren’t in spam) and if I delay too long I feel awkward about replying. Also sometimes I don’t if I am unsure what to say. But mostly yes I do reply because every comment I receive is treasured, and I want them to know I am grateful.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don’t really do angst - I am Team Happy Ending all the way. My first thought was “The Beauty and the Tragedy” (Once Upon a Time) because the original ending was totally angsty. But I felt bad as even though it was poetic it was sad, so I added an alternate ending happy ending the very day I posted. So I think probably “Ghost of a Memory” (Timeless) as that was just pure pain. Both of these were character death, so not like me.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh man I have quite a few pure fluff. The most sickly sweet zero angst, zero anything but sugar though is probably the amusing (for the question) titled “Happy Ending” (Sanctuary). My OT3 got married.
8. Do you get hate on fic?
Fortunately I don’t think I have. I don’t think I am popular enough to have attracted it. I did once get two commenters arguing with each other which didn’t feel good.
9. Do you write smut?
Not anymore really. I did for a time. It was a very big thing in the Rumbelle fandom and I wanted to fit in. I don’t regret it as it was a good writing exercise, and it allowed me to explore a wider range of ideas. However, once I started to drift from the fandom I lost the urge to write it. I wrote mild smut (more feelings) in my Time Will Tell (Sanctuary) fic as it was an important part of the character development/plot. I think if I ever write it again it will be along those lines.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Yes. I have written a couple. They are always the most fun. It’s great to put certain characters together like I loved having Nikola Tesla (Sanctuary) and Claudia (Warehouse 13) meet. I regret that in that crossover I didn’t manage to get HG and Helen ‘on screen’ together. The name clash aside, they are two fascinating women who have a lot in common. I did have on my ideas list more of a Warehouse 12/Sanctuary crossover (with time travelling Myka) but I never got round to writing it. My problem is my fics are so long and writing basically novels is time consuming. Anyway one of the easiest ways to crossover is I have something of a hobby of basically taking the Ancients (Stargate precursors) and seeing how many universes I can crossover with them as a backdrop. Such fun.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not of which I am aware.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Don’t believe so.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
You may laugh as this but I am 99% sure the answer is no, and yet I have some weird paranoia that says maybe? It’s like I think I have forgotten something. Yet I am sure the answer is no. Stupid brain.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
When I’m obsessed I am really obsessed. Like I go all in super hard. But like a flame the hotter I burn, the shorter it tends to live. Afterwards it’s not that I don’t like it anymore, it’s just that it’s not an all consuming thing, and then I find something else to go crazy about.
But that being said if I have to pick one then I will probably say Bering and Wells (Warehouse 13) as it seems to have the most sticking power thus far. I do wonder if that’s because I fell into it when I wasn’t writing, so my obsession (like a fire) was banked and therefore has lingered long term. I still like to take part in the gift exchange every year. And next year if I have the spoons I would like to put together a Bingo for the fandom. With having given up fanfic I’m not really active in any other fandom at the moment. I would like to do some more fanart but aforementioned spoon shortage - it’s a problem.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t?
Beyond the Lake. It was a Rashoman Job inspired Librarians fic, crazy complicated which is why it didn’t get done but the concept compels me. I can call this a WIP as I did write a couple of chapters. There was also my Noir Warehouse 13, I had I don’t know 10 pages or so starting on that? But alas never to see the light of day.
16. What are your writing strengths?
95% or so of the time I finish what I start. I have a couple of abandoned fics on AO3 (guilt, guilt) and yeah there’s a few on my HD. But I have written several long novel length fics, and they did get done. So I think I have reasonable discipline.
I’m also never short of ideas. I can come up with something for any prompt if required (probably), and I do like my ideas. I mean I suppose I would (they are mine) but yeah I think the ideas are good. I sometimes doubt my ability to realise them but the ideas themselves, solid.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Many.
I used to think my biggest issue was description but while that does need serious work, I have a far bigger problem - my characters think too much. They don’t talk to one another. When they have a problem they think about it, no conversation. It makes it very static and not much action or banter.
Truthfully I think it’s because I personally think about everything far too much. I don’t talk to people with speaking (I type on discord a lot) but actual conversations? Barely ever. Mum checks in on FaceTime with me almost every day but if it wasn’t for that I would go literal weeks without talking to a soul probably. So anything that happens I am hardwired to think about it - not talk about it - ergo I have absolutely no idea how to craft conversations. What do people talk about?
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
You know it’s funny I have been contemplating this in my serial recently This particular case is set in France and so a lot of people should be speaking French. In the end I decided not to worry about it for the first draft. I think in revision I will sprinkle in some flavour words (like please, thank you etc.) and then keep the dialogue in English but try and make it sound like a plausible speech pattern for them. Maybe say it’s in French but if my character speaks French, then they understand so it’s written in English. I don’t know. It’s like when I try and write Sanctuary with The Five from the 19th century, they sound very different from someone like Claudia who is all pop culture references. I want it to feel accurate but also the reader needs to understand and in novels having a variant of subtitles might be annoying.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
This says wrote for, not published. I am relatively sure I wrote some self-insert Famous Five adventures when I was about six (long before I knew fanfic existed). I definitely messed around with some Diagnosis Murder when I was 9 (again before I knew fanfic existed). Obviously, when I was 11, The Royal/Heartbeat was the first actual fandom, with the posting and everything. I explained how that came to be before.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Ooof. I think… I really liked and the Sins of Atlantis the Librarians/Sanctuary crossover. It was entirely self-indulgent and a lot of fun. I also had fun with the Odyssey: Future’s Legacy (Warehouse 13/Sanctuary) crossover. The Star Wars fusion Across the Stars I did for Once Upon a Time was also cool. Sometimes I have these ideas and they just work for me, they like click something in my brain and unroll and mesh together, and just yes. The Beauty and the Tragedy doesn’t even read to me like I wrote it, there’s a clever poetic twist that is so unlike me. I have a soft spot for quite a few fics. It’s not that I think I wrote them well (I didn’t) but the ideas sing to me. I am my own audience in this respect.
But I think ultimately my answer has to be Between Two Fires, a Once Upon a Time fic. Set on a made-up sci-fi world. I could picture it clearly and it riffs off the Jack and Irina relationship in Alias. It was quite a short fic but there is so so much more of it in my mind. Truthfully one day that will probably get expanded and changed to be an original novel trilogy. I have notes. That fic just stuck with me, there is something there to be developed.

NaNo. Last day of single prompts.
It gets more interesting from here! Send in your requests for two prompt posts, I still have some slots left for the month.
This isn't my best work by fat. I threw it togwther just to get the words out, but that's what these exercises are for. Have some fluffy family angsty stuff.
The first few days that the Golds spent in Florida went perfectly. There was sun, there was sand, there was warmth when it would have been frigid in Maine. Gideon thrived as a toddler exploring the beach and all of the discoveries that come with it. Rumple slowly accepted the fact that he would be seen in "practically nothing" and eventually became lost in his time with their son. Now and then there were romantic moments too.
What Belle hadn't expected was to end up in a heavy foot brace after walking through a hole someone had dug and failed to properly fill in. Rumple had almost gone down with her, but has somehow managed to protect both himself and Gideon in his tumble. Belle hadn't been so lucky.
The entire rest of that day was filed with Rumple’s endless fussing. Even after they left the doctor's office and were back in their hotel room, he couldn't stop himself from worrying. At least once an hour he fiddled with the thermostat to make her more comfortable, then either insisted on asking the front desk for more pillows or another blanket. After half the day of this routine Belle reached her limit and sent him out for Chinese food.
Today her husband was a little more at ease, though he continued to nervously fidget and mutter about her comfort. She had at least managed to convince him some time on the beach would be good for Gideon, though it was clear he didn't think it was good for her.
"Do you have enough shade, sweetheart? Should I move the umbrella? "
"I'm fine, Rumple," she insisted for the tenth time in as many minutes. "Will you please just try and relax? It's a beautiful day."
Rumple's eyes didn't leave hers. She could see the moisture gathering in the deep amber of his gaze and it nearly broke her heart.
"Rumplestiltskin," she muttered softly so that no one around would hear. As she called him she bent forward and grasped both his hands innhers, squeezing them tightly. "This is nothing compared to what we have Ben through before. A few days of rest in this brace and everything will be fine again."
"I just can't bear to see you suffering."
Belle rolled her eyes. "The only thing I've suffered from in the last two days is an annoyingly attentive husband." The words made his lip quiver and she squeezed tighter. "I LOVE you, Rumple."
"You're sure that you are happy?"
"Yes, I'm sure."
Over in the sand, Gideon lifted an arm and seemed to be grabbing for the distant waves. "Mmm Num."
They both turned to follow his gaze and caught sight of someone with an ice cream.
Rumple looked from the distant treat to Belle. "One scoop or two?"
"One," she said, smiling. "Unless we get to share."
Rumple leaned close and whispered in her ear. "Later." Then, with a peck on her cheek, he was up and away, on a quest to hunt down the illusive treat for the two people he loved.

His mother’s name is Talice. She’s a (mostly) full blooded drow, descended from Lolth sworn drow from Menzoberranzan on her father’s side while her mother came from a largely T'lindhet drow family and one of The First (the half-elf priestesses of Loviatar who ruled Dambrath.)
For most of her life growing up, Talice spent her time in either Dambrath or Menzoberranzan due to her parents having ancestral homes in both places. I was thinking her father’s house was maybe close friends and allies with the Do’Urden House (before the Drizzt fiasco) and consequently the house is not ranked very highly as of the present. Because of that, and the fact that Talice and her mother were technically not full drow, their time spent in Menzoberranzan wasn’t the most welcoming and eventually they decided to live full time in Dambrath.
Luckily, in Dambrath, Talice’s mother held high social status from being a Child of the First and having strong drow features, so growing up there was much more favorable.
Talice was very scholarly by nature and her time in Menzoberranzan as a youth bore some resentment towards the fact that she wasn’t a full blooded drow, so she took it upon herself to learn as much about her father’s House and relating Houses as possible in order to feel more connected with her full drow side. She ended up learning of the Do’Urdens and was quite enthralled by Drizzt. She halted her studies of becoming a Priestess of Loviatar and focused on a life of adventuring, combining her two passions to become a Cleric of Pain.
She devoted a lot of time to traveling with a group of other worshippers of Loviatar whose main goal was to spread the teachings of their Goddess. During one of these outings, the group was to travel through an area that didn’t take very kindly to the attempted religious conversion so as a precaution, more hired muscle joined the group.
This is when she met Rian, Tav’s father. I haven’t thought as much about him as I have Talice. He’s a fairly ordinary human, not originally from Dambrath. He grew up in Baldur’s Gate and as a teenager, he stumbled across the regrowing cult of Bhaal in the sewer ruins.
The cultists planned to sacrifice him to Bhaal but as he was in the throes of death, he made a pact: in order to live, he promised Bhaal his firstborn child. A new Bhaalspawn to replace the ones killed during the events of the original Baldur’s Gate games. Very Rumplestiltskin-esque, I’m aware. Rian becomes a Fiend Warlock in service of Bhaal, becoming a mercenary, hunting and killing not only for a living but also as an act of faith. He figures it’s better than murdering just anyone as he at least has reason from his employers to target these people.
Eventually he makes it to Dambrath, possibly because he heard of the need for muscle for the group Talice is a part of, or possibly because he already had a target in the area. I’m unsure of the reason as of right now. He likes it there and the contract he signs with Talice’s group means he’ll be there for a while. Maybe this is where he can finally settle down, he thinks, to give Bhaal his promised child.
He didn’t think he would actually fall in love. He planned on breaking free from his pact and running after the true nature of his child was revealed. He didn’t think he would become so passionate about Dambrath, Loviatar, and more specifically, Talice, who was near nobility due to her heritage, even if she didn’t act like it. Here is when he would take up an Oath of the Crown, vowing to protect Talice and the party and kill those who got in the way of their mission.
Despite all of this, I don’t think I would say Talice or Rian are completely evil, despite both of them serving quite evil Gods and committing evil acts in their names. I think I would say they were just. Eccentric. And devout. Or in Rian’s case, bound to it.
And then there’s Tavish, a half drow wild magic sorcerer, powers granted from not only his Fey ancestry from being a half elf but also the fact that he has Bhaal’s blood. His childhood is pretty good I’d think. His murderous tendencies don’t really show up for a long time. Rian wonders if Bhaal has made more Bhaalspawn in the time it took for him to settle down and just kind of forgot about their deal. Or maybe all the murder he did in service of him was enough to fulfill their pact. Talice teaches Tavish the history of her father’s family, even about the Do’Urden house and Drizzt, who they might be very distantly related to. He grows up following Loviatar just like his mother just not to the same extent as wanting to spread her teachings throughout more of Fae’run. He wants to explore and adventure the way his parents did, he wants to visit Baldur’s Gate where his father grew up even though he doesn’t talk about his time there much. He goes off into the world and then. He can’t remember much after that. Until he wakes up on the Nautiloid, with a tadpole in his head.

You are barely two miles out of Storybrooke, and already something feels wrong. It’s more than the usual hurt of leaving home, of leaving your family, but something more. This is not grief but fear, raw-edged paranoia, and it eats at you like a hound.
Your footsteps cease in an instant, the crunch of leaves you’d been trying so hard to hide finally falling silent. You turn around slowly, casting your gaze about you, but see nothing other than growing darkness. The shadows at the bases of the neighboring trees seem to grow, stretching out as if they had fingers to touch you. If you didn’t know better, you’d say that the one closest to you almost seems human.
You know better, though. The danger lurks in the town behind you, not in these forests. Your parents sent you away from Storybrooke to protect you from Rumplestiltskin, and there’s no way he’d find you out here. You’re not even sure if you know where you are, so some creepy guy with a bad name couldn’t possibly figure it out.
A wind blows through the trees, shaking a few leaves to the ground. You shiver and turn back around. Worrying isn’t going to help you at this point. Your parents tried to save you by sending you out, you have to make their efforts worth it.
Despite your best attempts, the feeling doesn’t go away. In fact, it gets even worse, as if there’s something right behind you, breathing down your neck. You keep an eye out, but there’s nothing there. You swear you can hear something out in the forest somewhere nearby, but can see no sign of it. It gives you the uncomfortable feeling of being the prey to a rather twisted hunter.
At last, you can take it no more, and call out to the surrounding wilderness. “Whoever’s out there, I know you’re there. Either show yourself or go away.”
Leaves crackle in a dim echo, and then a voice answers you. “Well, if you insist.”
It comes from the space somewhere to your left, and you whirl around to see a boy emerging from the trees. He wears roughspun green clothes, and you can see a long knife strapped to a belt around his hips. Even without his dress, though, you’d be able to tell that something about this boy isn’t right.
The secret lies in his eyes. They’re a bright, fierce green, and they watch you with an uncanny knowledge. Although you’ve never met him before, somehow you know with certainty that he knows everything about you- your parents, your reason for leaving, every secret you have ever tried to hide.
He grins slightly, as if he can tell exactly what you’re thinking. “I’ll admit, this isn’t the most formal setting for us to meet, but it gets the job done. I’m going to need you to come with me.”
You take a step backwards. “Not a chance.” All you know about this boy is that he’s been following you, maybe even since the moment you left town. The idea of going anywhere alone with him doesn’t strike you as smart.
The boy just shakes his head. “I think we’ve both had some sort of misunderstanding. You never had a choice.”
Eyes wide, you turn to run, but he’s suddenly standing before you, having moved across the small clearing in an instant. You make to dodge around him but he extends an arm, catching you by the wrist.
A faint smirk on his lips is the only sign that his demeanor is anything more than solid stone. “Don’t feel too badly about it. Few people can get in between me and what I want.” With that, he snaps his fingers, and the world disappears in a rush of black.
You awake in darkness, fighting a swirl of vertigo currently clouding your vision. At first, you can’t figure out where you are, and then the memories of what just happened come pricking back in at the corners of your head. After everything your parents had done to save you, you’d gone and gotten kidnapped anyway.
Your parents. It hurts to think about them. Your parents are Odette the Swan Queen and Siegfried the prince, one of the best examples of true love persevering over all. They’ve been through a lot together at the hands of Baron von Rothbart, that evil sorcerer, but they were supposed to be happy again. Turns out kind epilogues aren’t given fairly.
You scrub a hand over your face, trying to force the lingering darkness from your vision. When you blink the last of the spots from your eyes, you realize that you’re in the middle of a dense, dark forest, and without knowing how you know it, this isn’t the forest you were in mere moments before. Most importantly, though, there are bars of some kind of wood trapping you in place. When you reach out, testing them, you discover them to be made of something almost like bamboo.
Before you can think too long about why you appear to be in a cage, a boy strides forward from the trees. You feel your shoulders stiffen at the sight of him- it’s the same boy you’d seen in the forest earlier, the one who’d brought you here.
He cocks his head to the side, considering you. “Good to see you’re awake. I couldn’t have you dying on me, could I?”
You elect to ignore that last sentence. “Who are you? Why am I here?”
The boy holds up his hands. “A little slower with the questions, if you will. Technically, if there’s any interrogation going on, it should be me asking you. As a kindness, though, I will tell you my name. I’m Peter Pan.”
He pauses as if you’re supposed to have heard of him, and seems rather disappointed when you give no indication of having heard the name before.
You narrow your eyes. “Well, Peter Pan, why am I in a cage?”
Peter shrugs. “It seemed the easiest way to keep you here. I need something from your parents. Do you know how useful true love is in magic? They survived the attacks of a powerful sorcerer to be together. I could use that. So, I’m going to hold you here until they show up and give me what I want.”
You raise an eyebrow. “How are they supposed to give you true love? Isn’t that more of a concept than a thing?”
Peter just smirks. “I’ll let them decide that. For now, though, I’m content to wait for them to show up. However long that takes.”
It hits you now that this situation has turned from bad to worse. At least when you were running from Storybrooke you could do something. Now, though, you’re stuck. A tendril of anger sparks within you. How dare this boy show up, think he can boss you around like you’re nothing? You’re not nothing. Far from it.
For a moment, you think you’re imagining the smell of gunpowder smoke around you. Then, when the cage cracks and breaks in a sound like a thunderclap, you realize that it’s not in your head at all. You land gracefully on the ground, straightening up and brushing yourself off as if nothing had happened. Slowly, you glance up and meet Peter’s gaze, and it is then that you realize the cage breaking wasn’t just some freak accident.
He looks like he’s seen a ghost. “You did that. You have magic.”
You laugh. “That’s absurd. I have never used magic in my life. Are we sure it’s not just because your cage was rather flimsy and fell apart? This could merely be a matter of shoddy construction.”
Peter furrows his brow, suspicious. “Shoddy construction.”
You nod. “Exactly. I mean, what makes more sense, me suddenly having magic or the wooden twigs of your cage breaking?”
Peter pinches the bridge of his nose. “That’s not how this works. It all makes sense now. In killing von Rothbart, your parents were host to a considerable amount of magic, which is now in you.”
You shake your head slowly. “That’s not true. I would know if I had magic.”
Peter takes a slow step closer to you. “Are you sure about that? Things like that only manifest themselves in times of stress, like now.”
It doesn’t make sense. There’s no way you have magic. Yet at the same time as you deny this, something pricks in your heart, as if there’s a voice whispering there. That could work, couldn’t it?
Peter holds out a hand, as if he can tell what you’re thinking. “See? You know it’s true.”
“I don’t know anything.” You spit the words out at him like they’re a foul curse, but he just laughs.
“Say what you will, we both know the truth. Now come on, are you going to make this difficult or no?”
He advances towards you, but you’ve had enough of his cages, both verbal and physical. You turn and run, sprinting through the trees like nothing could hold you back. For some reason, Peter doesn’t appear in front of you like he had before. It’s almost as if he feels he doesn’t have to, like there will be something here to stop you.
That doesn’t matter, though. You can’t afford to spend any more time playing into his traps. You grit your teeth, forcing yourself to run harder. At last, you dodge around a particularly sturdy oak, then come to a juddering stop. You’d thought you would be able to run away, make it to a town or something. You could hide until Peter gave up, then find a way out.
Looking out at the glimmering ocean before you, though, you can feel your every hope of escape start to leave you. The sun dances atop dazzling blue waves as far as the eye can see, meaning you’re on an island in the middle of nowhere. There is no hope coming for you, no chance of getting out. All of this is Peter’s land. No matter how far you run, you won’t go anywhere except back to him.
Peter appears beside you, as if sensing from your crestfallen expression that you’ve come to this conclusion. “You see now, don’t you? There is no leaving Neverland.” Usually, you’d want to hit him with some sort of clever retort, but you don’t have the space in your head to call it to your tongue. All you can do is stand here, staring at the ocean, thinking about how you will never leave this place.
Peter is good to his word, too. You try many times to escape his watchful eye and explore the island, desperate for some sign that there’s someone else out there. Maybe there’s a small fishing community on the banks that’s willing to hide you, or hunters in the woods that could shield you with their numbers. It never lasts long, though. He always finds you, and you always have to return to the camp.
After a while, he gives up on trying to bind your hands and wrists together, allowing you to wander around in the near vicinity of the Lost Boys’ camp. Peter frames it like a kindness, but you both know what it really is- a gesture of nothing. Even if you ran, what good would it do? You can’t go anywhere but circle his island. All Peter has to do is track you down, and then you’re right back where you started.
From there, you have a few options in which to occupy your time. The Lost Boys train every day, sparring with fists and staffs and the bow and arrow. You join in with them from time to time, always appreciating the experience to beat them senseless. Every time your fists hit one of the Lost Boys, you picture Peter’s face in their stead. It leaves you with a grim satisfaction to picture getting back at him in such a violent way.
Your other option is one you prefer to keep hidden. Ever since Peter revealed that you have the ability to use magic, it’s as if you’ve unlocked a door that you didn’t even know existed. At first, you have no idea what to do, how to call it back to you. After the weeks start to blend into months and you grow more frantic for a way to get off of the island, though, it becomes easier to use your magic, as if it can sense your desperation.
Peter knows that you’re trying to tap into your magic, of that you’re certain. He seems knowledgeable of everything on his island, from the tap of your feet upon the ground to the lap of the waves on the shore. You’ve caught him staring at you from across the Lost Boys’ campfire multiple times, like he’s trying to look past your skull and read your mind in pages from a book. He’s after magic of some sort, you know that, and you have no doubt that he’d use you to protect his island if he thought he could.
However, you’re not sure what good your magic could do. Although you seem able to do small spells and such, your best strengths lie in illusions. This makes the most sense- Peter had his theory about you getting your magic from the death of von Rothbart, and the evil sorcerer's biggest spell when it came to your family was changing your mother to look like a swan.
Soon, you grow rather skilled at casting up illusions. At first, you start small, changing the petals of a flower from red to yellow and so on. Then you change your face until you look nothing like yourself, or weave enough of a spell around you that you appear to be back in Storybrooke, not stuck on this terrible island. It delights you, this gift. How strange that you didn’t even know it existed a few months back.
Peter is getting more suspicious, you can tell. He must sense that there is some source of magic on the island that isn’t his. You’re careful to only practice magic when you’re sure he’s busy with something else, but you must not have checked thoroughly today. You’re halfway through changing the tree in front of you to look more like a marble column from an ancient temple when you sense that you are not alone.
You hastily send the illusion away, but you know that you were too late even before you turn around and see Peter standing before you, arms folded across his chest.
To his credit, he doesn’t even seem surprised. All he does is tilt his head to the side curiously, as if studying a rather perplexing puzzle. “Not bad. It almost looked real.”
You narrow your eyes at him. “What do you want? You can’t use my magic, not in the way you want.”
Peter spreads his hands. “Are you so suspicious of everything that I do?”
You give him a look. “You complimented me. That’s nothing short of treason for you.”
Peter has the nerve to grin. “It was a one time mistake, I promise. I won’t do it again. Although,” he pauses to walk slowly towards you, “I wasn’t lying. For someone who just learned about her gift a few months ago, you’ve progressed rather quickly.”
You eye him resentfully. “I had a pretty good motive to learn something, especially if it would help me leave.”
Peter has the grace to look chagrined. Although you’ve found yourself talking more and more with him over the last month or so, nothing changes the fact that you’re only here because he kidnapped you. “Perhaps it was a rather jarring change.”
You find yourself wanting to laugh. “Are you kidding me? You abducted me to your island in the middle of nowhere, all because you hoped for a chance to steal some magic from my parents.”
Something almost like a smile twitches at Peter’s lips. “We all take drastic moves when we feel it’s necessary. Besides, I wouldn’t say that your time on the island has been all bad.”
You shrug. “A few things haven’t been terrible. You’re not one of them, by the way.”
This time, you’re sure of it- Peter does actually smile. It’s so unlike his usual scheming smirk that you’re almost shocked by it. Is it truly Peter Pan standing before you now, or some boy who hasn’t let his face show in centuries? “I’ll take that comment to my grave.”
You roll your eyes, starting to walk past him. “I hope it’s rather soon.”
You go to push him on the shoulder as you go, but Peter catches your hand, spinning you around with as much ease as if he’s been practicing all his life. “Hey, rude. I’m hurt.”
You swat him with your free hand, but the second the blow connects, he takes your other hand, twirling you in his arms until your back is against his chest. Peter’s breath is hot on your neck, and you can feel him on every inch of you.
You stammer slightly, doing your best to pretend you’re unaffected by this. “I don’t care.”
You can hear Peter’s grin in his voice as he lowers his arm to wrap around your hips in the guise of stopping you from moving. “No?”
Your heart is beating wildly in your chest like a bird’s wings, and you can only hope that he cannot hear it. “Not at all.”
Before he can do anything more, and before you do something you regret, you push Peter away from him, holding out an arm as if to keep him away from you. Peter just laughs, the sound tossed away by the breeze. “I almost believe you.”
You’re not sure what that afternoon did, but somehow, it changed everything. You considered Peter barely tolerable, but within a matter of another month, he’s a friend. The two of you bicker like childhood friends, exchanging insults like greeting cards. It’s fascinating, and utterly terrific. You find yourself laughing harder than you have in a long time, and living more brightly and freely than perhaps ever before.
You’re sitting near the fire of the Lost Boys’ camp one day when it happens. It’s the middle of the afternoon, with the other boys either out chasing each other through the trees or trying to improve their archery. You’re fully expecting to go at least another half an hour without seeing anyone, so you’re a little taken aback when the air in front of you starts to shimmer.
At first, you’re just confused. You rise to your feet slowly, one hand rising to the knife on your belt. It was a gift from Peter, one he’d tried to play off as necessary in case he tried to stab you out of irritation but one that’s become your favorite weapon ever since. After a few moments, you realize what the shimmer is- the beginnings of a magic bean’s portal. You can see indistinct figures as the gateway between realms begins to solidify, and feel as if the ground has been pulled out from beneath your feet.
Even without the portal being fully opened, you know who’s waiting on the other side. You know their silhouettes from growing up, having been ingrained in most of your memories. Odette and Siegfried, your parents. They’ve found you at last. However, they’re not alone, and as the portal takes shape, you realize you know the other woman as Regina Mills, the Evil Queen.
A realization hits you like a thunderclap. Here is how it will go: the portal opens, your parents step through and find you, it’s a joyful reunion. Regina, however, convinces your parents to look for vengeance. She feels the magic on the island and wants it for herself. Through some way or another, the island falls, all because of you.
You make your decision before you’re fully aware of it. You spread your hands, calling up your largest illusion yet. The magic ripples around you, drowning out the rest of the Lost Boys’ camp and your own body. When your parents and Regina step through the portal, all they see is a rusting pile of machinery, an abandoned alleyway in a shady street. Nothing special.
Your mother folds her arms across her chest. “What is this, Regina? Where is my daughter?”
Regina just shrugs. “Looks like your information was wrong. She should be right in front of us.”
Both of your parents train their gazes forward, and you have the odd sensation that they’re looking directly through you. At last, they glance around some more, but find nothing. The portal begins to close, so they head back. You wait a few moments after the portal disappears, then relinquish your spell, sighing with the effort and what you’ve just lost. Was it worth it, to give up your shot at being rescued? A quiet voice answers in the back of your head: yes.
Someone speaks behind you. “Why would you do that?”
When you turn around, Peter stands, looking stunned. You glance away, somehow unable to meet his gaze. “They would have taken over the island. Too many of the Lost Boys are happy here, I don’t want to destroy their home.”
Peter shakes his head slowly. “That isn’t the only reason why. You could have done that spell and gone with them. Why did you stay?”
You try to come up with an explanation and come up blank. “I don’t know.”
It’s the honest truth, but Peter seems unconvinced. “You do.”
You look at him incredulously. “What, you think you know better than me? I don’t know, Peter. Accept that.”
He shakes his head again, but this time something almost like a smile tugs at his lips, like he’s figured something out. “I think I know why.”
Before you can ask him what he means, Peter walks towards you, pace quickening with each step. He doesn’t stop, but crashes into you with a kiss that takes your breath away. For a moment, you’re left reeling, and then you return to yourself and kiss him back. Even when he breaks away, you can’t escape the rush of adrenaline, like you’ve jumped off of a cliff and been caught just before you hit the ground.
Peter’s wearing that smile again, the one you’d first seen back when he first saw your illusions. “Looks like I was right.”
You laugh. “Shut up, Peter.”
He does so, but only so he can kiss you again. For once, you let your worries leave you. For once, you decide then and there that you don’t want to leave Neverland, not if you can help it. This is your home, and for once, you’re absolutely fine with it.

regina mills & unconditional love
no but guys regina mills did not know what it was like to be unconditionally loved until emma swan. i’m not even being dramatic here - i mean maybe this is a reach but it is mostly true whichever way you look at it and i’m going to back myself up.
even if people did love regina unconditionally before, that is not how regina would have felt and understood it.
cora mills could have loved her daughter had she opted to keep her heart, but she did not. she chose power over love, and chose to ‘protect’ herself from her feelings, which could have prevented her from being brutal enough to use regina in the way she always knew she would have to. she did this before regina was even born. (what also hurts me about this is that cora did not have her heart when she was pregnant with regina, so literal fetus regina would not have been soothed by a mothers heartbeat - only silence.)
baby regina knew mothers were supposed to love their children, and she certainly knew her mother said she did - with a stroke of the hair, to manipulate her into doing something. (’you know how much i love you darling, i just want what’s best for you.’) or to excuse her actions after a particularly harsh punishment. (’i only have to hurt you because i love you, regina - it’s a mother’s job to ensure her daughter suceeds.’) what little love regina thought she felt was always conditional. affection - physical, emotional or otherwise - was a reward for obedience, to be withheld and used as cora saw fit. and poor tiny regina only wanted to please her mother, only wanted to be good, and craved those hard-won moments of affection. (what did this teach her? that love was a reward, to be earned through obedience. that to ‘be good’ was to be worthy of love - and she was not inherently either.)
and then we have henry sr, who i believe loved his daughter immensely and in his eyes, probably unconditionally - after all, who else stuck by her side even in the depths of her darkness - but to a young regina whose definition and understanding of love came from cora and her abuse tactics... well, daddy loved her and snuck into her locked room for comfort and cuddles when he could after cora would punish her, but he never stopped the punishment. he made her feel better afterwards, but he stood aside and let every single thing happen to her. so tiny regina once again was taught she deserved it, that it was okay, it was the consequences of her actions. that she needed to be better. if she really was inherently worthy - if she really didn’t deserve it - daddy would protect her, surely. but he never did.
and then we have daniel - sweet, kind, honest daniel who knew nothing dark about love and loved her as freely as he could. loved her for who she was, not what she could do for him. and yes, he probably was the most unconditional love she’d ever known - but it was love between children and he was murdered before long. so then regina has to wonder, once again, if she is worthy of love at all. or if it truly is just weakness.
(nobody protects her from king leopold. he doesn’t love her at all, barely even tolerates her at times, but he enjoys her youth and her beauty and her body and her presence at his events, even if he prefers she stay silent at them. at court, regina is a decoration. friendless, alone.
princess snow white, yes, she loves her. she loved her from the moment she pulled her from her runaway horse, this beautiful heroic girl who taught her about love and magic and courage. but snow is so young, and knows nothing but what her parents told her, and regina is sure she would not love her if she knew everything. regina is sure snow only loves her as a replacement mother, as a living doll for her to play with whenever she wants, to distract her from harsh realities and history lessons, to teach her about horses, to do her hair. if regina were to be herself, to leave, she thinks this poor child would soon hate her.)
rumplestiltskin, well, he has affection for her for sure after some time - and maybe before too, through his visions, through his love for her mother, his paternal instincts and his affinity for broken things - but she is only ever really a tool for him, a means to an end. she is his revenge and his redemption. his curse caster. and if she couldn’t do that, well, he would have to drop her and move on. and regina knows this. deep down, regina has always known this.
maleficent, well - that was something like love once, maybe - lust and comfort escapism and alcohol all wrapped up in one, but they never let themselves be in love, not really, not as much as both of them perhaps could have been. external circumstances were too much.
and then henry - another spanner in the works because of course children love their parents unconditionally - but then one day he doesn’t. one day her little prince, who showed her what pure, real love really was, comes home from school with a book and tells her she’s not his real mom, and then one day he tells her she’s evil and just like everybody else, she herself is not worthy of his love. (of course, he is just a child and doesn’t understand his big conflicting emotions but for regina, this is just another step in a long, solid pattern. and her heart is broken.) as she slowly grows and goes down the long path of redemption, she wins his love back - realises she never really lost it - but of course, that pattern of thinking in her head is confirmed even more if anything. she is good now, she is trying to be a hero, and so her son loves her. if she stops, maybe he won’t again. there are conditions, like there always has been)
even robin, her supposed soulmate, she knows would not love her if she were not the hero, and even then, he has to prioritize his first family over her. snow starts to love her again - she never really stopped, only now she loves her deeply and with understanding and complexity, loves her fully, as a friend, an equal, a human being - and so do the others, but regina deep down knows they love her because she is being ‘good’ or trying hard to be.
because love for her is conditional, always conditional.
and then there is emma swan.
who throws her own soul into the darkness without a second thought, just to save regina’s life.
who protects her, defends her, speaks out for her when nobody else does. when she’s ‘bad’. who believes in her and treats her like an equal even when regina is sure she’s not. regina does not have to earn emma’s friendship and protection - emma guards her and looks out for her beyond all reason. regina could be throwing a fireball or threatening a friend and emma will only pull her away with a whispered word or conjure her own magic to help. emma tries to send her home and protect her from the underworld, even before regina has done anything to help her. emma wakes herself up from a curse and regains all her memories in a split second just to save regina, even when she’s not herself and she thinks regina is just the evil queen.
emma swan is the first person who genuinely looks out for regina with no ulterior motive or exchange of power, the first person who regina cannot rationalise a method of keeping on her side - because emma is just on her side, regardless of what she does, how badly she messes up, how emotional and messy she feels.
regina is shocked by it, she doesn’t understand it. nobody has treated her like emma does. nobody has ever put her first like that. nobody has ever expected nothing from her in return.
but gradually - once they get through all the denial and questioning and yearning and get together - emma begins to show regina just how worthy of love she is, despite everything she’s ever been taught. it shakes regina’s whole view of the world and herself, and some days she finds it hard to believe, but gradually, eventually, she does. because after all, she loves emma unconditionally, too, doesn’t she?
(she loves most people in her life unconditionally. she always has. so why shouldn’t she receive that in return?)

Look look!
The sky was dark, rain poured down, the dark night thundering as a storm rages it’s angry boom. Heavy foot steps stomp around the wet soil, panicked breathing, muffled from the rain and lightning. Pale silver eyes scanning the woods frantically. His thoughts racing, as his worry increases.
He stops in a small circle of trees, his attire clinging onto his skin, his little cape hanging from the water, weighing it down. This makes things worse as his sinking feeling a dread grows. “S/o, where are you?!” the slim man thinks, tears streaming down and mixing with the rain water.
The Pied Piper, a bounty hunter in this cruel kingdom ruled by Rumplestiltskin. He was sent to hunt for some traitorous witches, but those witches perished in the rain, cackling at the Piper. Their words stabbing him figuratively in his heart, “Just you wait you mute stickbag! Your precious lover is being taught a lesson! Consider this your punishment!”
He breaths heavier, his eyes going unfocused, he was having a panic attack. he covers his ears, letting out a sob, he tries to suck in a painful breath. That is till your voice calls to him. “Pi...per...” your weak voice was able to reach him, over the ringing in his ears and the harsh storm.
He looked at the direction of your weak pleas, he pulls out his flute and calls out to you “S/o?! Is that you!?” he runs towards your groans that echo out in response.
“HOLD ON MY PRINCESS” he goes out of tune and his notes practically screech at his ears. But that doesn’t matter right now, all he could think about was you.
He skids to a halt as he sees you, your injured body leaning onto a log, your soaked in rain, and your appearance tattered by mud and dirt. he drops his flute to the ground, it snaps in two, he ignores it, it was a collapsible flute anyway.
He drops to his knees before you, reaching out to hold you in his arms, crocodile tears falling from his eyes, landing on you face. You open your eyes a crack, you smile weakly, reaching up with your only good arm, you cup his cheek. Dirt smearing onto his skin, but he doesn’t care, he sobs are silent, but you can see the pain.
You chuckle dryly, smiling warmly “D... on’t cry, my melody” you forced it out, your smile turning into a sad one. Piper cries as he lets you lay in his lap, using his hands to speak to you in sign language. “I... I can’t” he paused sobbing some more as he leans down to his your forehead.
Touching your foreheads together, he kisses your nose and non-muddy cheek. His shaky breaths as he cries into your hair. You hold his hand, squeezing it weakly with the amount of strength you had. “Live l...ong, my lo...ve” you ask him, your eyes tearing up.
He shakes his head, holding you closer as he sqeezes your hand tighter, desperately trying to keep you awake. You lean into him, pursing your lips together, requesting for a kiss from him.
He chuckles sadly, leaning down, he captures his thin warm ones with your cold plush ones. Usually he was the cold one....
As he parts from you, he breaks out into tears again, curling himself around you, protecting your corpse from the elements. You stayed in his arms, your face blissful, and eyes closed, enjoying your final kiss with him.

14 - Brother's Permission

She gasped at first neither of us knowing that the ring was glowing the brightest it had ever been when she kissed back. Her arms wrapped around my neck deepening the kiss until we needed air. She gasped trying to catch her breath feeling her rest her forehead onto mine. "Rumple."
Rumple's POV
Sitting at the foot of the bed in the back room of my shop I watch Y/n peacefully sleeping. Knowing that I have her back, the real her makes me realize that I shouldn't waste time in making her mine. Now that the curse is broken anything is possible for any of us in Storybrooke. She yanws stretching her arms out above her head with her eyes fluttering open to meet mine. "Morning Rumple, I was dreaming we were back in the Enchanted forest. Henry was a knight and we all got sent home after the Curse was broken." Leaning forward I rest a hand to her cheek once she's sat up on the cot. "I wish I could take you home lass. I know you loved the outdoors." She rested her hand over mine smiling up at me. "You don't have to apologize. This world has some perks. After all who knows if the Curse never happened. Who's to say we would've ended up together."
I smiled leaning forward and kissing her where she immediately kissed back wrapping his arms around my neck. I slowly pulled away realizing she's the only woman I want in my life for the rest of my life. Getting to my feet I help her up escorting her outside before I headed to the Charming's apartment. Raising my hand I simply knock hearing the door open and being greeted by Snow. "Mr. Gold, what are you doing here?" Resting my hands on my cane I slowly spoke feeling nervous all of the sudden. "I'm here to ask the prince for Y/n's hand...in marriage." She gasped slowly letting me inside to see Emma and Henry watching me. Snow headed up the stairs calling for her husband. "David, Gold's here to talk about Y/n!"
"What on earth do you want, Gold!" He grumbled crossing his arms over his chest with a stern look on his face. I suck in a deep breath directing with my left hand between the prince and I. "I'm here to ask your permission - for Y/n's hand - hand in marriage." Henry jumped up from his chair cheering with a grin. "That's awesome!" Emma rests her hands on his shoulders looking to her father. David throws his hands up shouting in my face. "No way in hell am I agreeing to that. Ever since my sister has met you she's always been put in danger. You may call it love but I don't, that's final!" He turned to leave and I hang my head down with a sad face going to leave until Snow spoke up. "Wait, the both of you."
We both stopped in our tracks watching her closely. She throws her hands up slowly explaining. "Now I know we have history together. Where we don't always like each other. But we should consider Y/n's feelings when it comes to this." Her husband tried to stop her. "Snow-" She raised her hands ignoring him and only watching me. "It's been proven that the love you have for her can break any curse, like mine and Charming's love. And in my experience that is something special..." I smiled at the princess truly happy she is defending me. Emma stepped up to me crossing her arms over her chest asking me. "Henry's told me about the enter action between you two. He calls it love but I think the biggest question is will you protect her and treat her like she's the most important thing in the world?" Staring into her eyes I gave her a smile pulling a golden ring out of my suit pocket. "Fine, you can have my blessing Rumplestiltskin." Charming finally agreed with his family.
Y/n's POV
Rumple texted me to meet him in front of the clock tower at sunset along with telling me to wear my favorite dress too. I wondered what it could mean knowing he is a man of mystery I'm interested to find out. Leaving my apartment I headed down mainstreat seeing red roses in a path at my feet so I followed them. When I reached his shop I see my brother dressed up in a suit and tie smiling at me offering me his arm. "David, what I'd going on. Why are you dressed for a wedding?" I asked looping my arm through his. He simply smiled squeezing my hand in his walking me towards the clock tower. "It's a suprise little sis. Just remember that I love and he loves you too. But if he ever hurts you I'll make him pay." I started to answer but then I gasp seeing Rumple standing at the bottom of the tower in a suit and tie grinning at me.
Everyone else of this town are lined up on either side of him smiling at me. Squeezing my brother's hand I whispered with a grin when we got closer to the man I loved. "So you actually gave him permission. I never thought you would. So, thank you. Thank you, brother." He kisses my forehead handing my right hand over to Rumple who smiles bright at me. Intertwining my other hand with his I already felt tears welling up in my eyes. "Rumple, I can't believe this is real. I didn't think you were ready to marry again." He squeezes my hands in his replying. "I wasn't, not until I met you. The Charming princess in my life...Now I'm certain." He pulls out a golden ring making me gasp, slipping it on my left hand grinning brightly before he started saying his vows to me.
"Y/n when we met I never wanted anything to do with love. I didn't have a good history with it so I ignored it at all. But now looking at you before me I know you're the one for me. You embraced the light and darkness as one. You embraced me as a whole person and gave me your heart. So from this day on I promise to love, protect and treat like the princess you are forever. I love you and I'll never stop loving you, Y/n my charming princess." He released happy tears grinning down at me with the biggest smile I've ever seen on his lips. Reaching up I run mj fingers through his hair smiling as I released some happy tears too. "Rumplestiltskin, when we met I wasn't into the idea of finding love that had to be arranged. So you took my heart from my chest. But the truth was you suddenly had won my feelings for you after that. Good can't live without bad and vise versa. You are the light that pulled me from my darkness. I'll love you for the rest of my life too." He slowly leans down pressing his lips to mine. Slowly I wrap my arms around his neck deepening the kiss. The kiss that now brings us together to be husband and wife. The kiss that sealed our promise of fairytale love. I had finally found my own prince Charming in the arms of the dark one himself. And Rumple had found his princess who was the sister of prince Charming.

OUAT Thoughts Pt.14--Episodes 8-9
I have watched through S2E9; spoilers DNI. Also, spoiler warning for anyone further behind than I am.
—I only had to wait 3 episodes. Belle and Rumplestiltskin have gone out for burgers. (They did not, however, eat the burgers. You know, world-saving, life-or-death interruptions. The usual.)
—I require Ariel content. She’s been mentioned twice, but I haven’t seen hide or red hair of her yet. And although I’m sure I could write loads about why OG!Ariel bothers me, she also has good qualities that I think OUAT would handle well.
—The Queen of Hearts has gorgeous clothes.
—That being said, I’m terribly disappointed that she turned out to be Cora. Let me preface it by saying, it makes sense, and I understand why they did it. However…I love Wonderland. It’s one of my favorite childrens’ stories (not to mention a historically significant one) and it’s also one of my favorite Disney movies. I would’ve truly loved a Queen of Hearts who was just the Queen of Hearts in this show. She probably would’ve been amazing. She may even have been the noble warrior queen I want some depiction of her to be. I wish we had gotten that. Also, I despite Cora with a vengeance, and I would rather the Queen of Hearts were a villain I could love.
—Y’know, I think sapphism would be a much more compelling motivator than pining after some bland-ass semi-dead guy. Also, Mulan deserves to be in a queer relationship, because the original Disney Mulan is one of the most accidentally queer movies I’ve ever had the fortune to behold. And another also, Philip has 0% personality. Mulan should be with an interesting person.
—What I’m trying to say is, Mulan gave Aurora back her heart. Mulan is protecting the heck out of Aurora. Aurora doesn’t get along with anybody but Mulan. Mulan and Aurora should go have some sapphic adventures together and forget about Philip.
—I kind of want Rumplestiltskin and Regina to be petty frenemies together now. Like, they can barely stand each other, but they still throw some shade on everybody else’s business. Maybe they sit back-to-back in different booths at Granny’s, so they can plausibly deny that they’re hanging out.
—I don’t feel sorry for Regina, but I loathe her less. Emma and Snow should’ve let her come to dinner with them.
—Way to flip the narrative! I love that Snow had to save Charming the same way he saved her. Their relationship is filled to the brim with reciprocity, so it really works for them.
—The beating sound in Cora’s heart vault gives me anxiety.
—I guess the other acceptable outcome for Mulan and Aurora (yep, back on it) is a lovely little polycule with Philip. If they insist on both being in love with him, while having possibly the most chemistry of any two characters that aren’t Snow and Charming, then that’s what they should do.
—My relationship status with Hook is currently love-hate. He’s not an evil person, necessarily, but on the other hand he’s a sneaky jerk *and* he’s trying to kill Rumplestiltskin. It’s complicated.
—Red looked lovely as usual in episode 9. I don’t always like her clothes—mostly because some of them look uncomfortable—but her red flannel, and her fluffy dark red jacket, and her jewelry are all gorgeous. Also, she has strong facial features, and she’s really pretty.
—Pricking Charming with the spinning wheel was cool. Does the curse travel from the needle into him, or is it still on the needle, too? If so, is there a magical decontamination process?
—Belle finally got to wear some yellow. The dress was pretty, too.
—Emma’s heart being unstealable is probably cliche, but I love it anyway. Especially because she’s surprised about it.
—Rump hiding the squid ink on that note was some real smart planning.
—Did Hook kill the last giant? He didn’t say that he did outright, but the fact that he had the magic bean kind of implies that he did. Shame on him.
Bit of an aside, but my dinner tonight was a wine-based beef stew and horseradish dumplings, and I absolutely believe that’s the kind of food Rumplestiltskin would enjoy eating. (Who knows, maybe it’s the kind of food he would cook for Belle.)

*cracks knuckles* this is what I've been training for!
okay so almost (operative word being almost) all the mains I'm like, that's my son/daughter and I love them to death so like...there's that.
Regina of course. Her overarching arc throughout the course of the show is SOOOO gooooood and the payoff is really spectacular. i mean she's done so dirty by a few things but. I mean what I said that she is a lady blorbo. she's sad and pathetic and unhinged and we should protect her at all costs.
Captain Hook!!! this show literally said "make Hook hot" and they were so correct (do I love him so much because he's attractive? maybeso.gif). No but really his arc like Regina's from full-blown villian to fully rounded out person who is Trying Their Best is very good. very very good.
Henry of course. Spectacular little kid. precious bby. I also really enjoyed grownup Henry in the last season. the final season is all kinds of nonsense but adult!Henry & Lucy & Lana Parilla's excellent performance of Regina make the story for me.
The Charmings just...as a whole unit. Snow and David - nobody was doing it like them, and their earnestness was actually really well suited to the fairytaleness of the show. Like, Goodwin is always just so earnest on screen but it fits Snow perfectly well without being overtly trite. It's cheesy, but they're the right amount of cheesy. And Emma, of course. I don't know how to love the show and not love her. I think Regina & Killian would rank above her if I had the capacity for ranking things but she's the center of the story's orbit, ya know?
possible hot take (pun not intended) but I actually really enjoyed the Frozen arc? it may have been the captain swan. Elsa and Anna were interesting and I liked their connection to the Charmings
Robin Hood! he's another pathetic himbo and I love him!
BELLE!!!! my librarian girl. my detective. my hero. she deserved so much better. some of my favorite stories were of Belle using her Booksmarts to save the day. self recognition through the other [affectionate]
Rumplestiltskin as a villian is so fantastic. brilliantly performed, delightfully nefarious. I'll withhold my criticism of Rumple as a Not Villian once you have some context, but the dude is so compelling when he's not trying to be Good. and Carlyle's performance made the show what it is. He and Parilla honestly. they're both Out There enough to sell the fairytale villian of it all.
also love for Ruby & Mulan & Tinkerbell (let's go lesbians) and all the iterations of Cinderella (I love them okay) and Grumpy, specifically.
And Granny. Granny is a Real One.
