rough beast ganondorf design + sketches + notes design combines the typical boar form (dark beast + cloud form from botw), the oni one (demon king gan) hint at the draconic one to come but keep part of his humanity with his clothing being mostly intact

as the battle with Demon King Ganondorf comes to an end, the sages previously knocked out start to wake up again, he is cornered and hurt and as fear of being imprisoned, tortured and exploited overwhelms him he transforms into the Beast form, breaking the arena you were fighting him in and him going for Zelda as she is the biggest threat (he remembers her destroying dark beast gan and she reminds him of sonia, who is the one you sealed his human body back in the day)

you and zelda flee through the cracks of the earth as more earthquakes happen with a beast at your heels thats now truly only out to kill as fast as possible as he burrows after you (first sketch)

the path takes you both just below the surface and as you are trapped in a dead end zelda shields herself and link with her light shield ability, which protects you both from immediate damage but cant soften the impact from gan charging at you, the impact of which breaks you all three to the surface and the battle takes place in the same spot as botws dark beast fight-

fight is very challenging as gan is smaller than the dark best version, jumping and charging at you while still able to cast spells, now truly throwing everything he can at you in the hopes of ending you both

fight ends with you shooting an arrow at zelda, her deflecting it at the right angle and it shooting off the enigma stone on gans forehead; he falls seemingly defeated and as zelda runs to take the stone away gan through sheer panic lunges for the stone triggering his dragon transformation and making way for the final fight

(summary of the end: in the final fight gan snatches up both link and zelda once he transformed into the black dragon and takes flight toward the sky, zelda falls from between his teeth and knowing that she cant get to link and help him in any way from the ground she, while falling, takes out the enigma stone she has kept in a save container in her backpack all this time and swallows it for her own transformation, in her white dragon form she takes active action and charges at gans head so link is freed, then supports him in the fight itself; at the end link plunges into dragon-gans mouth to reach the stone on the inside where he makes use of the 'medicine' previously made using the moonbloom taked from kogas secret lab, link and the stone are spit out and as gan reverses into a human and falls link is caught by zelda and he uses the second charge of it on her to bring her back as well; as all three fall from the skies as the sages have made their way through the tunnel that beast gan made earlier, they help link and zelda getting to the ground safely while the yiga do the same for gan - final end end isnt determined yet but this is waht i got so far and even if i have written this once before i felt it was fitting to do it again and no you cant tell me this is too much of a wishfulfillment thing bc it literally is just that as i cant actualyl change whats in the game, so even if im trying to make it all fit well together i can still do what i want nhakjdbgshdbhsjka)

Sparkstember Day 18: Balls (Bullet Train)

Sometimes (oftentimes) it's true that all you need are Balls. I personally absolutely love Balls. I'm a big fan! Ekhem. Today I'm using the help of (I mean, copying most of the passages from it) my earlier Balls rant that I have written down after my first listen of it back in January. I really love this album and I don't want to completely skip over saying a couple words on it at least but I really don't think I have the headspace to write anything very good for it today. I'll still try though!

So yeah, Balls. It's a great album, fun and chill (in my sense of what I call and consider chill anyway), consistent, as Sparks albums tend to be, and as I suspected / hoped it does fit this specific vibe of driving around at night somewhere city-like and illuminated. Or being on a train deep at night and looking at the world zooming by (if you'd even see much of it on a train at night anyway.....). And I do think that it's not so dissimilar to Gratsax (I'd say now that it's definitely darker and moodier than its predecessor...). So it's interesting to think about how it's considered to be one of the "weak" ones (by music reviewers at least) while Gratsax is so beloved in comparision.

I will admit, I don't really know what the big problem with this album could be. As I said, it's fun, it has the melodies, it has the energy, it has the theatricality (I like seeing how more and more orchestral instruments such as strings are being incorporated into the music, in a way the jump into Lil' Beethoven two years later doesn't come of as THAT much of a shock because of this. The evolution of sound here is fascinating!) I really like the intense beats, just as much as the more laid-back and moodier pieces. And there's lots of gold to be found in the lyrics department as always.

One more thing I wanna say is that at some point I wondered if this music sounds older than it is. Maybe it does? But then I remembered that this was 2000 and honestly when I think about it, there just IS something about this album that fits so well with the Y2K image and vibe and all. Sparks 2000 and all that.

Favourite songs (and other highlights):

Balls: I mean. It's Balls.

Scheherazade: absolutely LOVE this one and I had the strangest impression of it sounding very familiar when I first heard it. Months later I found out that it was just briefly featured in TSB so I think that explains it (I will talk more about my TSB viewings on TSB day. EVERYTHING has to be explained in excruciating detail, lmao)

The Calm Before The Storm: bugsonas 4ever. Song itself is amazing too

How To Get Your Ass Kicked: how can a song about getting your ass kicked be so pleasant and relaxing, it always keeps cracking me up, how perfect that is actually

Bullet Train: I love it how introducing the topic of the song with a "It's the [topic of the song]" is a reoccurring theme on this album. Thank you Sparks for this ode to technology and art (these lyrics always have me giggling). And also it just goes hard as heck

It's Educational: a perfect fusion of / sequel to I Thought I Told You To Wait In The Car and Progress (it's mostly the vocal delivery that reminds me of the latter)

The Angels: such an odd one here but I still like it a lot, I apparently said that it sounds "surprisingly mainstream for Sparks but somehow in a positive way". It's very sweet and I absolutely love how Russell sings here, it's so different from what we're used to but that only makes it hit you even more in the feels, lol. And I actually prefer the alternative version of this song that's featured as a bonus track, and I do think that's in big part because you can hear Russell better on it (or that was my first impression of it at least and it kind of stuck)

One thing I fucking love with all my heart is instrumental music. When I was younger I only ever listened to music with lyrics, as I liked listening to the little stories they told in their limited time. I still do. But when I first listened to Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson in Guitar Hero 3, I understood the value of songs that are purely the musicalization of emotion. Much like how abstract art only tells the viewer half the message and puts the role of meaning in their hands, instrumental music doesn't give a clear answer on what it's about, other than a specific feeling. With it, you learn that happiness sounds a certain way. Sadness sounds a certain way. Expectation, horror, panic, loneliness, all human emotions can be expressed through nothing but music. Now what you connect those emotions to is up to you. Maybe they'll connect to some previous memories or experiences that you've had, or maybe it'll sound like something you've never experienced before. Regardless of the case, it is such a delighftul and active experience on the part of the listener.

question!! what are the turtles’ favorite genres of music/artists?

Okay I thought I could fit in drawing more panels for asks, but UHHHHHHHHH NOPE- Christmas be kicking my shell right now HAHA

Anyways!

(The Strength in Weakness spoilers- ish below!)

Mikey has always loved to dance around and sing the corniest and fluffiest of pop songs. If it has a catchy beat, he doesn't really care for what the lyrics are, as long as he can shimmy and jammy-jam to said tune. :) He has the most naturally talented voice out of all the brothers, so he really enjoys BURSTING into songs at the drop of the hat, especially if it would cheer up his family. If I had to guess what kinds of songs he would like, they would probably be "Get Back Up Again" (From Trolls), "Smile" (From the Sidewalk Prophets), and "Wouldn't You Like" (From Epic the Musical).

Don does not really enjoy listening to songs with lyrics, but rather soundtracks of his favorite movies. Thanks to the fact that the music has no words, he's able to focus more on the task at hand. He also loves to sway to the music and pick apart the separate instruments used with each track. The soundtracks he would listen to would be "Narnia", "Pirates of the Caribbean", and "How to Train Your Dragon". Being cooped up in his office or the lair all the time, he doesn't often get the chance to go out and be in the world up top. So he chooses to let his music tell him just how incredible it is, even if he can't always see it.

Raph needs to have some type of music playing whenever he's drawing. It just feels so incredibly WRONG without the inspirational tunes that really encourage his creativity. The songs he would listen to would be "Seize the Day" (From Newsies), "Get Off of My Back" (From Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron), and "Immortals" (From Big Hero 6). IF he's in a good enough mood, he may even find himself singing along to a few alongside Mikey or Don. (Though Don doesn't have a very powerful singing voice, he still can hold a note).

Leo and Lotus eventually find a great hobby that both of them enjoy, and that would be listening to music while putting together a puzzle. As they both organize the pieces, (Leo especially being more meticulous with what colors go where), they will sit and hum to soundtracks. Like his freckled brother, Leo truly enjoys music that makes him think, but doesn't have any lyrics. Soundtracks have a way of distracting his brain from all his stressful decisions, helping him to focus on finding out how the music changes the way he feels. It also helps that with soundtracks he doesn't have the urge to sing, seeing how he despises his singing voice... He prefers to listen to "Lord of the Rings", "Into the Spiderverse", and "The Lion King".

Lotus finds a soothing sense of calm when she's listening to music. It somehow pushes away her anxieties and fears, and lets her just- breathe. Like Leo, she sways and hums to the soundtracks, sometimes even adding little "oooo"s and "aaaaaa"s if she feels it's needed.

The brothers will find out that music and singing is one of the best ways to calm Lotus if she's having a panic attack, or waking up from a nightmare. (As you will soon seeee)
